As I hate zoos that keep animals in cages impeding their freedom and boring them to death, this very one on the contrary seemed very decent. Large spaces and interesting recreation of habitats. Much walking and thematic areas. You'll need a full afternoon to enjoy it. Don't go for a couple of hours only. Prices are in the pictures I'm sharing. This is by far one of the best zoos I've ever seen. It was opened in 1931 with the goal to "advance the study of zoology, protect wildlife, and educate the public. In 2013, the zoo occupied 58 hectares (140 acres) with 45 hectares (110 acres) in use for exhibits, and housed around 4,200 animals from just under 650 species, including 132 species listed as threatened.

So far the best Zoo I’ve ever seen! I am not a big fan of zoo’s but this one is really worth a visit. All animals has big areas and looks like they are taking great care of them. It is super clean place and zoo keepers are all over the place working hard to maintain it. Animals looks pretty happy. We spent over 4 hours and walked 13 km to see everything. It is huge place with a lots of restaurants, coffee places and vending machines. It is worth a visit for sure.

Always a great experience. Tends to be best when nor overwhelmingly crowded - which this place can certainly get. One of the best zoos I've visited. Enclosures are usually quite large with a few exceptions, so in general the animals don't seem too constrained. Staff is friendly (ticket office). Dogs are allowed, though not allowed inside of most housed exhibits nor shops (restaurants are OK I think though I've only taken mine through outdoor seating). There are a few areas almost easy to overlook. See the place thoroughly. Very enjoyable day.

A wonderful zoo with plenty of animals. It's really accessible with public transport. Entry was around the equivalent of 8 Euro. It took me and my mom about 3 hours at a leisurely pace to go through most things but we still didn't get to go to everything. Definitely with a whole day with family. You can then get to the center of the city in around 30 minutes bus public transport for just the equivalent of 1 Euro per person.

One of the best zoo's in Europe, we could easily have spent 2 days going round. There's a lot of walking which shows the sizes of the enclosures and it's getting bigger.

Awesome place not that far away from the city. An uber would cost you around 15 usd. You'll have walk a lot but worth it. My favorite was the girafes and Polar bear !

Huge Zoo, be prepared for at least 3 hours of walking, if not more. The Zoo is very nice, the animals look healthy and with a lot of space (compared to other zoos). If you go in the winter period though, some animals might be inside hiding, so there are some species that you will not see. The giraffes, elephants, tigers, polar bear and monkeys were beautiful, so it’s worth a visit. There are, of course, a lot more animals there. About 250 crowns to enter.

One of the best zoo's I've visited in Europe, you may not complete it in one day ! Plan ahead. Food there is very good, each restaurant is themed for a specific area of the world.

I was extremely impressed with the variety of animals in this zoo! I am also impressed with the size of the zoo as well! I have knocked off one star however due to the fact that a lot of places for food in this zoo will only take cash payments. In addition to this, the gondola was not operational, which left part of the zoo inaccessible. The toilets were also not clean.

Huge zoo with well-cared for animals. For a small price, you can visit a zoo that is big enough to spend a whole day at. The animals are almost always close by, but are never in an enclosure that is too small. The gorilla house is the best part of the zoo. It's impossible to not fall in love with the huge, but still cute Richard. If you visit Prague, take at least half a day to visit this beautiful place!

It's the best zoo I've ever seen. It's huge. It takes a full day to fully appreciate all of it and make sure to bring comfortable footwear because there's a lot of walking but it's totally worth it. The animal's habitats are so nicely done, they're a joy to watch. The African animals are inside during the winter though so it's definitely better to visit during the summer.

Amazing zoo! I love the landscape, how zoo treat all animal there, when i first saw cheetah freely walk around out of cage, i was so amazed!! It’s the first time in my life to see it like this. It’s huge area, i took 4 hours walk around the zoo, no tram in the zoo, you allow only walk and up above with cabin. I have seen Honey Badger, the fearless animal, i love it so much!

Fantastic place to visit when you are in Prague. Tool my family there and they were very happy about the place. Also very clean facilities on site... would have easily given 5 stars if I was able to see all the animals I wanted to see on the visit but will return whenever I visit Prague again.

The ZOO is OK but we expected more from a 4.8 rated place. We visited many ZOOs in the Czech Republic but this wasn't definitely the best. The place is constantly being renewed, which is good but still many places, fences, cages etc. are still untouched. Also the cable lift should be free (i.e should be included in the admission fee). On the other hand, there are many places to get refreshments and get some rest and watch the animals. We will come again in a few years time.

Prague zoo is consider to be one of the best in the world, and it shows. Great time with the kids! Unfortunately, a lot of the attractions were closed due to the pandemic, and those are the best the zoo has to offer. This is a zoo, so if you are sensitive to animals being in cages, you can consider this review a 1 star. Still, most environments created for the animals are big, and animals look well taken care of, but I am no expert.

The best zoo ever. Vast place, lots of animals, lots of programs for saving endangered animals, nice and well thought spaces for the animals - and that means you don't get to see them every time you come. Which is perfectly ok, don't forget this.

This is a sprawling wonderful zoo with lots of animals and great layout. We have spent a whole day in it and barely covered it. One of many services Iiked is the chairlift to take you uphill if you don't wish to climb your way up. It also has an impressive variety of animals and I loved how most exhibitions are written in multiple languages including English. Food and beverages are available for reasonable prices, so we did not have a single complaint, and my kid and wife were very happy with the experience.

Great ZOO, it's also big one, got me 6 hours to explore. No problem to eat and have coffee here. For some reason, you cannot smoke inside, so a lot people are incognito smoking. And you can buy a beer inside.

Very family friendly zoo. We had to walk a lot to see some of the animals. So I suggest you go there very early to be able to see all the animals. Otherwise you can just go see your favorite animal and then maybe a few others. PS: Even though I don't like animals in captivity I just believe they are being kept from the dangers in the wild to prevent their extinction.

I agree that Prague is one of the best zoos in Europe. It has bigger areas so animals have more space. The design is beautiful and its very well integrated with landscape and the surrounding hill. Walking along its paths it doesn’t seem to be in Prague. The overviews on the upper part are really nice. Good activity for all kind interest of public. It also offers possibilities to eat inside. Just for snacks or full meal.

Excellent and very big zoo. I liked it a lot. However I think that the entrance ticket is rather expensive - 200 czk for adult. It would be better if the price was lower or there were some days for free entrance, for example every Wednesday or at least every second Thursday of the month. Some days the park is opened till 9 pm, but the cafés work only till 7 pm. Some people are hungry in the evening - it's dinner time. I think there should be restaurants to eat till 9 pm.

The Prague Zoo is a really awesome zoo, there are a lot of different animals to see and you can even go into some of the enclosures, which is a very fun experience, we even stood next to a pelican which didn't seem bothered at all. And even though there were a lot of people there it was never crowded because the visitors spread out really well in the huge area of the zoo.

One of the best zoos in Europe. Very good for small children and toddlers. Wonderful penguin and arctic pool. House animal zoo is somewhere where you can touch the animals. There's also a chair road up the hill (be cautious while the chair is good for 1 adults only when the safety belt is used, better put children in a separate chair when old enough). Plan at least half a day to spend there.

An extensive zoo, with lots to see. Not expensive. Nice surroundings. Lots of queues to get into specific parts, like the gorilla and tiger sections, but otherwise, a fantastic experience with fantastic views from the upper walk way.

Amazing zoo and absolute must-see ! Animals are well taken care of, fascility is well planned for the guests. A lot of areas for children and restaurants with good food and prices. I recommend going there for the whole day as it is very big and it is not possible to see it all in just few hours. You can also bring your dog inside. You can go there by tram+bus from the city center or take the boat that goes directly there.

Best zoo I've been in. Extremely large. You can even interact with some of the animals while staff is coordinating everything. Full of small places with snacks and other sorts of food. Reasonable prices for everything. It might take 4 hours to see everything so be prepared. Totally worth it :)

The park was so vast and well organized. There were vending machines everywhere and we had all what we needed for the day we spent there. The animals were well kept and the nature was fantastic. Plenty of space to take a walk in the zoo, the staff was also really polite and when asked questions they replied with details. Very good Zoo! Huge area and a lot of different animals. the animals look happy and the visitors have a lot of places to rest and have lunch. You can also experience the feeding of different animals and have the opportunity to get really close to some animals (for example lemurs and different kinds of birds) i really recommend visiting this zoo!

This is one of the best zoos in Czechia. One must visit this zoo at least once if you are in Czech Republic. It's the 5th best zoo in the world. A full day is required to cover the entire zoo. Many restaurants are also there inside the zoo. One ticket for an adult costs 250 CZK. There is a bus stop (route no. 112) just in front of the zoo's main gate.

WOW experience and extremely cheap. If you have enough time come to the zoo. I will say that I made the right decision about coming here. Myself and my fiance love animals and was great seeing how they really take care of every single animal that they have over the zoo. Also, you will be able to get a decent lunch on the zoo. Plus, beers are cheap so you could enjoy more your time seeing the animals. One of the best zoo that I have been in my life.

Enough space for walking, plenty of species to see outside. The inside exhibitions are closed due to Covid-19 safety measures. The tickets are sold solely online and only until capacity. Terraces are opened, so refreshments and an ice cream can still be enjoyed outside. Pleasant spring walk, happy kids.

The best zoo in the whole Europe, I would say. Huge area with 45 hectares and a large variety of species. A lot of animals from middle and zuid Amerika where you can’t find in other zoo’s. There are 3 parkings with 3 entries, which are very convenient. You don’t need to reserve in advance. A family ticket includes 2 adults and 4 kids costs only about 30 euros! Unbelievable price! Toilets are clean in general. Staffs are friendly. Many areas you can have a zero contact with the animals. Animals are having big enough space, where is very considerable. Super experience!

An absolutely incredible zoo. The entry fee is incredibly reasonable. The enclosures are clean and have ample room for the animals to run around. The animals look healthy and well looked after. Food and drink options are cheap and tasty. The whole experience was just fantastic. Be aware that it's absolutely enormous so wear good shoes and be ready to walk a lot!

Very big and well organized zoo. Really taking good care of the animals, physically as well as psychologically. There are shows and feeding times posted and you can come and see those which are very recommended. The zoo is very big and I would recommend coming early in the morning otherwise you won't see everything. Throughout the zoo are a few restaurants and snack booths where you can get refreshments or a proper food for a decent price. Beware, weekends with nice weather are packed with families with children.

Prague zoo is beautiful, modern and big (60hectares). There are 10km of routes which are not flat terain all the time. Animal enclosures are spacious and clean, all animals seem pretty healthy and don’t show signs of stress. There are several places to get souvenirs and snack, I would recommend pancakes which were heavenly.

This zoo is huge!! There is so much to see and we easily spent 5 hours here! The zoo basically has 2 levels to it, the top one can be accessed by a chair ride up, or simply by foot. There are plenty of food and drink stalls around and the entry fee is quite cheap for such a large zoo. Animals are in quite large open spaces and kept in decent conditions, well as decent as a zoo can be. Definitely recommend for a day out with kids or even in a couple.

Overall a pretty decent zoo with a reasonable entry price (500 czh for 2 person's) but a lot of animals were missing and some of them looked like they were dead (the polar bear made us think twice because the smell was so bad and he was not moving at all). The penguins were really fun, they re so curious with people around the glass, gorillas also pretty fun to watch while they play together. Also the giraffes are impressive same as the elephants. Pretty decent overall but I would not visit again. Also, the restaurants inside are pretty expensive, we paid almost the entry price for 3 bottles of cola, even the vending machines are cheaper.

If it would be possible to rate this ZOO with 6 stars… It’s one of the most beautiful ZOOs I have ever visited. It is incredibly large and (most of the) the animals have large environments to live in. The surprising thing is that the entrance fee is about 10 euro’s. I cannot understand how they can maintain a park of that size with such a small fee. I would have paid triple that amount and it would still be worth it. About the ZOO: you can find most animals you would like to see. Special about this place is that the animals can be approached very closely with little separation by fences (which are mostly glass plates). The polar bears where my favorite although their habitat was painfully small. The polar bears could swim right up to the glass ‘fences’, making it possible to admire this magnificent animal from 30 centimeters away. I am happy to see that the ZOO has plans to drastically improve their living space! The birds are not shy at all and come to the fences of their cages and give you a loud greeting. The giraffes have an place to live that should be an example for other ZOOs: big! My story would grow too long if I would have to mention all animals. There is however one animal that I would like to mention: I have never seen such an beautiful and strange prehistoric animal as the giant salamander!

Visiting every time we come to Prague, this is always a great experience. Lovely park setting with interesting and sensitive design features. Wide range of animals including a Gorilla group and Elephant park, activities and playgrounds for children, good food and an important breeding and re-wilding programme which is worth supporting. All this for a remarkably good-value entrance fee.

Ive seen a lot of zoos around the world, but Prague zoo is one of my favorites! I like the diversity of the animals, inside and outside, scale, different level of elevations and how clean and well maintained it is. There are also a lot of facilities to have a quick bite or drink for a short break and/or to finish the day.

I visited the zoo in Prague after seeing one in Vienna, but we liked it very much. is bigger than Zoo Vienna, has many animals of a species, eg 8 giraffes, 7 or 8 elephants, many flamingos, many cheetahs and many other species. Animal spaces simulate their natural habitat, and people see them almost free. you can spend a whole day here. Inside there are restaurants and playgrounds for children.

One of the best (if not the best) ZOOs I have ever visited. Huge, well designed, continously expanding. Managed unbelievably well the transition from the ZOO of the past with cages and fences into a much more friendly and close approach environment, while improving the conditions of the animals dramatically. Participates in dozens of conservation efforts all around the globe and makes sure many of the critically endangered species continue to have a safe haven. Plenty of refreshment places, cable between the upper and lower part of the ZOO is a must. Price is more than adequate to the time well spent - 250 CZK per adult ticket, 200 CZK for a child/pensioner.

Amazing zoo. Reasonable admission and concession prices with (probably) too much to see in one day - although we did come with a 2 year old and have a pretty slow pace. Everything is extremely clean and well kept. Animals all looked healthy and happy with lots of room. 10/10 recommended if you are in Prague and enjoy zoos!

Really nice Zoo with a bit challenging landscape. It's really hilly but super nice!! When you have some time at hand and like Zoos and parks, this is a great place to be. At the moment they are re-building some sites, all in all this is not disturbing at all. Drinks and snacks you get everywhere for good prices - also very nice to find vending machines with drinks everywhere where you can pay with credit-card.

This was the best zoo experience I've ever had, walking through in October felt more like strolling through a park rather than a zoo. The exhibits have natural walls and ditches that keep the animals from escaping but in no way inhibit your view at all, this is great for kids cause you are able to get a up close view of the animals like no other place I have visited, they do a fantastic job of using all the natural terrain of the property. Bathrooms are clean, restaurants have good food. A must visit!!

A very, very nice zoo!! ❤️ It is huge (we needed around 4 hours to visit it all - 2 adults) and looks like it is extending (lots of workers building new enclosures). Beside all the animals you can see here, it also has quite a few areas where you can walk among birds and kangaroos. If you ever come to Prague it is a must to visit. It's definitely worth the time and money (even underpriced for all it has to offer). Loved it! ????

Definitely worth a visit. I can’t even put in words how much I loved this zoo. Everything about it is perfect, even the restaurants inside are thematic accordingly the animals on that area. It has a lot of attractions for kids such as slides and there’s a children’s zoo. The majority of the habitats look great and have decent sizes. The animals look happy and there are specific areas where you can get closer to them like bird cages and even kangaroos. The ticket price is totally worth it. Can’t recommend enough! I can’t wait to visit Prague again and revisit the zoo! ????

Just a phenomenal Zoo. The place is vast and it takes a full day to get round the whole place. We went on a Monday which was incredibly quiet. We saw the occasional animal that looked a little stressed such as the honey badgers and hyenas. And sadly the colder weather meant that some animals were tucked up warm inside, but that’s to be expected. Food is reasonably priced but on quiet days not all food places are open. Also still never seen the vernacular car running. Highly recommend a visit!

Great zoo, and we've been to several major European city zoos at approximately this time of year, so I think we have a good idea of what to expect. Particularly enjoyed the gorillas. Hippos are closed (permanently?) due to a water filtration issue. Many animals nowhere to be seen as wintering indoors, which is fine. Good food in the cafe. Layout allowed a fairly linear route to see everything without much repetition. Some animals' enclosures seemed a little small, but some were huge.

Super spot for an afternoon out. Extremely friendly Staff, very clean and neat throughout the whole Zoo. Lots of places to eat and some breathtaking views of Prague. They also have a lift to move from one side to the other.

Absolutely great! Went today with family. I thought it was fantastic! 5 hours and we only got through half but everything was there. The giraffes were beautiful. Horses, buffalo, camels, turtles, meerkats, wolves, deer, gorillas, lions and tigers, leopards and polar bears, even flamingos. For a really cold day we still saw almost every animal. Beautiful creatures, great walk around. They had cafes and toilets everywhere and the prices of the food and drinks were fantastic. Great price for entry too. Even the souvenir shop had great prices. As usual, great. Every time I'm going there, I discover new improvements, papillon for hippos, then Tasmanian devil crater, and coming soon, new gorilla's department. Prague's zoo is a world top level always worth the visit - I'm a regular visitor for nearly 20 years and still enjoying every visits.

This zoo was truly one of the best zoos I've ever seen. Very well kept and animals don't look like they are abused. I would recommend making bigger tank for Polar bear and seal.

Prague ZOO is the place we always go when visiting Prague with kids. Zoo is developing and year by year you can see progress. Dogs are allowed to enter with you on the lead, which is not so usual for ZOO. Great place to visit!

The zoo itself is great. It's easily accessible by metro/bus, which takes around 25min from Prague centre. The entrance fee is decent, very good discount for students. Maps have to be purchased, but the vending machine was broken. There are more throughout the park though, or just take a picture of one of the information boards with map. The zoo itself is large and features many animals and enclosures. A word of advice though, we went on a very very hot day, which is not recommended. A lot of walking paths do not have shade and there are not many places to really cool down. They do have a few water sprinklers in the park, which help. This also means that many animals are not visible, either lying in the shade or inside.

Best zoo I've seen. You should reserve a day just to visit it. There are a lot of amazing animals you can see. Some of them (very few) are left free and you can see them really close (eg. Peacock). This zoo is out of this world! I was very surprised to see how big the place is and how thought out every animal exhibit was. The animals looked genuinely happy and healthy even though being at a zoo. I liked how in some zones you could actually be inside the cage with the animals(for example the bird zone). I highly recommend this zoo if you're visiting Prague. I'd like to also add that the entry price is 250 ck (totally worth it) and the place itself was very easy to get to by public transportation.

The zoo is rated as the seventh best zoo in the world by Forbes Travel Guide in 2007, and is rated as the fifth best in the world by Trip Advisor. Entry for one person is 250 CZK which is very fair if you compare to large array of animals inside. We started with seal show, then moved to tigers roaring in the cave followed by cable car ride which costs around 25 CZK and then you can see elephants and giraffes. Highlight for me was hindu temple at the top with a shivling and you feel really surprised to see that there and then you feel you are blessed to be here. At every stop, there is washrooms and small eatery joints so that you nevel feel you are in an actual jungle. Everything is very systematic right from the entrance when you buy tickets to exit where a bus will be waiting. There are buses running after every 15 minutes so waiting for transport is not a problem. Hats off to the people who manages the entire show. Kudos.

Absolutely loved this zoo, its the best one I've ever been to. Admission is very reasonable considering I've paid triple the price in the UK for smaller zoos. The animal variety and their enclosures are unbelievable. The lunch in the ocean restaurant was fantastic. Can't wait to come back to prague just to come here!

The price of ticket is 10 eur. It’s very cheap. The park it’s huge you need at least 3 hours. It’s very clean and the animals have a lot of space.

Amazing zoo! Loved the variety of exotic animals:) Be prepared for long walk as the park area is enormous, and there is even a giant hill to climb. You can easily spend the whole day there. Due to Covid limitations there is a maximum capacity for some of the animal houses, decide in advance which of those are interesting for you, as the queues might be long. Don't skip the Salamanders house:)

Fantastic day, not just for kids! We are a couple and loved it. You can get so close to so many animals, who all have lovely big spaces to roam. A huge zoo, almost with a safari feel. It's very hilly but there is a cable car and plenty of places to sit. Particular highlights include the polar bear and elephants. Our favourite zoo ever! The pub at the entrance does a pretty good chicken schnitzel and homemade raspberry lemonade too, perfect after a weary morning. We got an uber from Prague Central to the zoo for £4, but buses are also an option depending on where you are staying.

I've only went to the zoo in winter when most of the animals are usually inside and not go out much, therefore I couldn't see them in all of their beauty. Nonetheless the zoo is very big with a numerous array of species and was enjoyable. If you go during warmer days you'll definitely have a wonderful treat for at least 5 hours if not the whole day.

A fantastic Zoo that is far larger than I was expecting. It took all day (8 hours) to get around and I still didn't see it all. Cable cars are well worth paying for to take you to the top of the hill, as it's a bit of a climb otherwise. Food is available from hotdogs (cheap, about 50p) to a proper sit down meal. Place is extremely well looked after and thankfully so are the animals.

We have been here in december. More than half of the animals are not exhibited, which is normal, because lots of animals need warmth. Still a good place to spend day with kids. Also penguins are cool

Great zoo and i dare to say a bit better than the London zoo. The animals have bigger spaces to roam around and for a lot of them they have a scheduled show. Main issue is that the shows were in Czech language. If you like elephants you will love this zoo since they have almost 10 elephants. Lots of small restaurants conveniently placed around the zoo and prices very affordable so you don't have to take any meals with you if you are planning to visit. Also lots of trees around the zoo which can be a lifesaver during summer, helping you avoid the heat. Lots of places to rest but I have to warn you that there is lots of walking involved if you want to visit everything ( like most major zoos). I included a small amount of images but I recommend you visit this zoo if you can spare half a day in Prague. You should visit early in the morning.

One of the best zoos in the world. Absolutely loved our visit. The animals are well cared for and have lots of space. The admission price was fair and the zoo itself was accessible using a combination of trams and a bus. It is well laid out for the visitor and there's such a variety of animals to see. You must visit this zoo when in Prague.

It's huge. We didn't walk every track and walk about 13km. The animals have (compared to some german zoo's) very big enclosures that's nice to nice. Absolutely worth a visit

If you’re in Prague this is a must visit place. They have so many animals and the park is huge. The entry price is really appealing, 8€ for an adult and you get entertained for a whole day. But there are issues with the parks size as well... since it’s so huge you usually have to visit at least twice to get the full experience and see every animal you wanted. One friendly reminder, don’t go there if it’s too hot outside all the animals will hide inside their place and you won’t see most of the interesting ones. Other than the flamingos they are gorgeous even in the heat and they don’t tend to hide!
