This Zoo is included in the category of Natural history museum.
This is one of the best museums I have visited. Its displays are very well done with a wide variety of information. The animal displays are incredible. I learned a lot!
Took a museum tour today - "The Great Canadian Fur Trade" is a behind the scenes look at the Hudson Bay gallery. Our guides were very knowledgeable and made sure we enjoyed the day. Good value and a unique experience.
A great lace to spend a cold winter day with the kids. So many fun things to see and the kids really enjoy. My kids really enjoyed the charlie Chaplin files in the little town.
Took my daughter for a learning experience the exhibits were amazing loved everything except the fact the ship wasn't open to walk on other than that what a great experience for the both of us.
Great main exhibits but some are SOOOO dated and really need a facelift. Paint is peeling, fonts are from the 70s. They need so TLC. The content is worth seeing though. The special exhibits have always been amazing. I saw the animals inside out and the walking with dinosaurs Among others.
Innovative renovations! I felt like I was time travelling. Wonderful date night adventure :)
Grew up in Manitoba and came here for trips every time we came to Winnipeg! When we had our kids they came and loved it too. Love that they still have everything like they did when I was young so my daughter could experience it too. Highly recommend coming here for a great, true Manitoba experience!
Staff were amazing, even security guards were exceeding helpful. Just a bit of a problem communicating with the staffer responsible for bookings. The Alloway Hall is a great space for an event.
Not much has changed in years and years, but actually a good museum that covers Manitoban history quite nicely. It is worth visiting if you are in Winnipeg. Go see the 17th century ship.
Checked out the Animals Inside Out and 1919 Winnipeg General Strike exhibitions. Great exhibitions. Really interactive and educational. The daily/normal exhibits were also extremely well done and educational. Lots of stuff on the First Nations, which was fantastic to see. Plan 3-4 hours if it’s your first trip.
The staff are fun and knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. I was in Winnipeg for a visit, and hadn't been to the museum since I was a child! It was nice to see the different exhibits & relive some of my fondest memories! The interactive areas were cool too! You could really spend the better part of a day in there. Worth a visit for sure.
Very informative experience. Definitely one of the more interesting history museums out there, and provided a lot of areas where you can interact with some points in history.
Extensive collection. Can easily spend 4-5 hours covering everything.
The planetarium was excellent. The museum was also very interesting. Need more than 2hrs to see a good portion of it.
Amazing Museum. I've been to many over Canada and this one is awesome!
It's a 20Dlls fee and you can see 2 expositions, it really worth it, but see the planetarium show of 2.30 pm, the 3:30 is ideal for kids but not for adults.
Flawlessly weaves "prehistory" and "history" together, ending in the immersive experience of Winnipeg as it was in the early 1900s. This allowed for a stark contrast walking back into the modern world. Great balance of artifacts, written information, technology and life size scenes to keep you engaged. Sadly, a chunk of the exhibits (especially the interactive ones) were closed or limited due to Covid, however, the curators still found clever ways to incorporate them into the story. Was not crowded... Almost empty, and a little short staffed but I will again attribute that to Covid. I have been coming to the museum ever since I was little and it never disappoints. I'd allot 3-5 hours out of your day to get the full experience. Highly recommend checking it out.
This place is underrated. Learned a lot about science and history. Great place for all ages.
Got to see 1/4 of it, but from what I've seen, everything was very well displayed and very explanatory until I had to leave early. They've definitely put the effort the time and effort to give you such an experience to go back in time. I would love to come back and see the rest I wasn't able to see... ????????????
My kids love this place! So very educational and informative, even adults could learn a lot in this place. The fee is a little bit pricey but I learned that I goes to a good cause. Would recommend trying out all the venues.
Have always loved coming here. The changes are fantastic. Love the improvements to the Nonsuch area in particular!
Very interesting museum that takes you back to thousands and millions of years ago throughout the history. One of the most interesting stories in the Canadian History is around animal fur trade that Europeans expanded in the region. Hudson Bay Company built an empire on fur trade. The land they owned expanded to 40% of the entire Canadian soil. Beavers, Polar Bears and any fury animal were turned into coats and hats and decorations. For more than 300 years this business was very profitable, until in the 90s the company ended their fur business because they lost the demand for animal fur and anti-fur trade movement was growing. The Nonsuch ship replica was built by the company and is open to public at the Museum.
Well worth a visit. Plan on about 3-4 hours if you combine with science Centre and planetarium. The main museum has many interesting exhibits across a wide range of topics, you'll surely find something that you find interesting. The replica non such ship is a highlight. The science museum is suited for kids up to about 11. Planetarium is good for all ages as is the main museum. Lots of paid parking available on the streets around the museum.
Pretty good museum, sucks that some of the things were closed off due to covid but it is understandable and overall a great place to walk around for an hour or so.
Haven't been in a while but I was very excited to see lots of new exhibits a little sad about how much the science gallery has changed but it still had fun things to do. The planetarium had a wonderful show on I'm not super into space travel and that sort of stuff other than star gazing but they keep it interesting and full of new information. Would definetly return soon
Everytime you go your going to see something new! Offering new shows and exhibits regularly so make the effort to go more often and you'll be truly surprised with the things you'll hear and what will catch your …
Lots to take in for a couple hours. Some exhibits have aged well but still look forward to future updates. Worth a visit, especially on the cold winter days in Winnipeg!
I took my son here most recently the updates were a good touch, Looking forward to more improvements and I’m happy Manitoba Museum is still around to educate us
Dioramas are very well done. Loved the dinosaur fossils and replicas. The Nonesuch is a cool little ship. The Planetarium was neat and relaxing.
Great museum to visit, so much to see and do. Plan on spending several hours here. My family enjoyed this place, especially the giant ship inside. Great experience.
I try to visit the museum every time I am in a new city. This one did not disappoint! Great exhibits, friendly staff and the planetarium show was amazing (I saw a show about the Manitoba Sky). If I am ever back in Winnipeg, I will definitely return!
It is so nice and interesting that you immediately schedule the next visit considering getting earlier to enjoy it more
Great place to spend a afternoon with the family. Reminds me of my childhood going for class field trips. Wish it was updated a bit . As it's exactly as we remember it. They bring in small exhibits for the room upstairs. Still neat yo go through.
Great learning experience for children
Interesting museum about nature, history and culture of Manitoba
It’s ok, some prime displays are down, can’t go in the boat, that was a huge disappointment with no signage telling us till we were in.
Evy Manitobans should visit The Manitoba Museum at least once in there life. Now I know the story of my province. The great place to go with kids, a lot of scientific games.
Great spot to take the family. Dinosaur, boats, rocks, mining, animals of the plains and the settling of Manitoba. The best though is the inside out exhibition. Amazing art and learning about animals and how they work. Didn't get to the planetarium but on the next time. I recommend for families. Good afternoon trip.
Wish more of it was open. The gift shop, planetarium and science section weren't open when I went on a weekday. Otherwise I loved the reconstructed ship and the history of the region.
Do you want to know about Manitoba's history? Come here. And if you have kids, come together. Seeing the entire museum will take you about 3 hours, be prepared
Enjoyed the nicely laid out spacious clean environment the museum has to offer. Plenty to see an enjoy.... Will definitely return once covid restrictions end to experience the more interactive /educational exhibits.
I visited Winnipeg in May of 2019. Went to see a friend here and this place was great. Pretty cool museum. …
Great place to spend a few hours. What a nice collection of exhibits from recent years to millions of years ago. Tells a vibrant story of Manitoba.
It has tons of things to see for people all ages. The nonesuch worth the visit, you cam go inside and they told me some times the open the basement. I'll be back to bring my little ones. The planetarium has many functions during the day. And is a science area beside the planetarium, is not big but seems to be interesting for kids.
This is a truly great place. But it hasn't been updated in what feels like 20 years. Still a great place to learn and play for the kids
Love this place! Kids always love playing on the Nonsuch and I always learn something new every visit. Excellent and friendly staff as well!
An excellent museum. Very $$, though, at $17/adult, although a military discount paid for one of our tickets. Parking is astronomically expensive nearby, at over $3/hour and you have to decide how long exactly you'll be. The museum is amazing, though!
We went to see Animal Inside Out Exhibit- an advert at the airport is how we discovered it. It was a good exhibition- similar to that of the one with the human bodies. The museum galleries were wonderful- I really did enjoy the Strike 1919: Divided City exhibit. Commemoration to the 100 years of the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike. Overall, the museum is worth the time to visit.
The Nonsuch ship is such a great exhibit that really brings something special and different to the whole museum. It's great to purchase a membership too, because it actually gives free entry to a number of other museums and science centres across the country.
Always a Great place to visit. New exhibit Very interesting, a must see.
