REVIEWS OF York's Wild Kingdom IN Yarmouth

Moriah Marshall

I get covid happened but I was really sad at how "messy" everything felt and looked. I wish I was closer because I'd love to volunteer help clean up the existing habitats and make use of the empty space to help the animals. It was kind of hard to see for an overly emotional person who remembers how great it once was. I hope more people can help them out! We donated! Help Wild Kingdom make a comeback! Truly a New England staple!

Spencer1316

Lots of animals and different areas to pet or feed them as well. Rides for kids and food. The food was a little expensive but when you get your order it is very well made and worth the price. Also, definitely suggest the Fried dough, it's super good and huge size as well!

Mainak Mondal

Great little zoo in York region of Maine. Off season meant that the children's rides were closed but the admission was half price.

Kirk Werren

Love this place. Is there anything better than checking out wildlife.. Super fun an exciting atmosphere

Shawn Thomas

Very run down, was over crowded huge lines at the bathrooms, and food vendors, parking is on the side of there drive way if you don't get there early enough to use there small parking lot. No paper maps or sign map's. Need to download pdf to phone. Not what I expected. Best part was feeding the goats and deer.

Steven Gerhard

We really had alot of fun here! Everyone was very nice and the have beautiful animals! Great place to visit with family.

Kristie Devoid

It's in desperate need of staff and pretty run down and overgrown now but the kids still had fun, what staff they had was friendly and helpful and the animals and rides were fun.

Alex Steele

This place was atrocious. Animal enclosures were dirty and unkempt. The animals looked absolutely miserable and not well taken care of. The only zoo employees I saw while in the zoo were the ones selling food otherwise there was no one around.

Betty McCreary

Such a wonderful zoo. Admission is good priced & comes with the paddle boat rides! Bring cash, a few food vendors were only doing cash when we went. Bathrooms were kept clean as well as the whole park. Great day to spend with family/friend's!

Iliya Yerukhimovich

Terrible parking situation not withstanding, this is a great place to spend an afternoon with the kids. We were driving through from Bar Harbor to CT and only did the zoo, for an even better time could've added the games and rides, but we're short on time. If they could manage a logical parking system, this would be 5 stars

Seth K

Awesome place for everyone, the kiddos and parents alike.

Anthony Francis

Do not miss this place! They have all sorts of animals and experiences to feed those animals. We rode a Camel! There are also some roller coasters outside of the zoo.

Alexander Ellingwood

It was fun loved the new parakeets enclosure. Definitely missed being able to hang out with he deer. Less animals this year probably due to covid.

Marisa Holland

It's the most run down, ghetto, non taken care of zoo I've ever seen. Poor animals don't even look like they're in proper environments. It's so expensive for a small zoo with more goats than any other animal. Half the rides were closed. Won't be wasting our time here again. Definitely gone way down hill. Don't waste your money on seeing 100 goats and a few random animals.

Guy Williams Jr

Had great family outing has best of both worlds a Zoo nd asumenment park rides can't go wrong spending day here with your family

John Bickford

Fun time with the family. It's a bit run down but the animals seem to be well taken care of.

Matt Johnson

Place is a great deal. Bathrooms definitely need to be updated and maintained better. Lots of rides for little ones to go on.

Courtney Bryant

Loved all the animals, and my niece had a blast on the rides! Will definitely be coming back!

Tracy Koonce

Fun for families, especially if you have young kids. Cool zoo!

Seamus McGrath

Nice, quiet day at the zoo. Our 4 year old had a really great time! Park needs some attention! Animal enclosures were very small. Animals seemed happy & healthy. Lots of brand new baby goats...one born while we were there, super sweet! Very reasonable prices even on food and souvenirs. Nice day overall.

William Carrien

We had a great time here, checking out the animals.

Kimberly Morasse

Cute place. Tons to see and do. Wish there was an all inclusive price for rides and animal exhibit.

Lance Brown

I went here for the first time ever and had a wonderful time. I cannot wait to bring back my grandson!

Out with Ainge

So sad how badly this place is. Use to be such a nice place, now it is something out of a backwoods horror show. 75% of the staff is rude, the place is run down, dirty and the animals don't look well cared for. I would never recommend this place to anyone!!

Jessica Warren

Had an amazing time! Lots to see and experience!! Wish they still offered the paddle boat rides!

Kristin O'Neil

Cool place. Loved seeing all the many different animals!

Michael Boucher

All the animals are so cute. The camel ride workers were so amazing and they were very good with our special needs kid that we brought! Very kind people. My only complaint is the size of the big cat enclosures. Could be a little bigger for such a large animal all couped up away from its natural habitat. Besides that it's very clean and beautiful. Butterfly exhibit is a must see.

Sarah Parker

Could use some bigger enclosures but it was a fun family day in all and the butterflies were amazing.

sonic 6789100

This place brings back great memories from my childhood. O recently brought my family to share some of those memories. We had a great time but it was very sad to see how completely run down the place is. ....but the town fixed up the beach and it's beautiful!

Angelo RACIOPPI

Fun and family friendly place. My children had an absolute blast getting to see the tigers, lion, and camel not to mention the rides. Most of the carnival games they have are still very much fun but most of them and the arcade they have (if there was one thing I didn't like) are very much out dated and worm down and worn thin. Aside from that, excellent place to go either for a couple hours or make and entire day trip out of it! It was my 5 year olds first time going and he says to me while we were leaving. "Dad, I wanna come back to this place."

Sherri Gould

We visited with our young grandchildren this week and found the park to be quite rundown overall. While the animals appeared to be well fed and groomed, their habitats were incredibly small. The rides were well worn, and employees were disinterested and weary. None of the staff were masked, and no COVID precautions seemed to be in place. We won't be returning.

Jean Manni

Took our grandchildren here. Had a wonderful time. The zoo side was interactive and a lot of fun and they enjoyed feeding the animals. The amusement park side was unfortunately understaffed due to Covid, so all the rides were not open. The grounds are well maintained and the food at the concession stands was very reasonably priced and good.

Alisha Tinkham

What a fun adventure! Friendly knowledgeable staff! Clean habits. Great place to spend the day for the whole family!

Julie Pomerleau

Park has definitely improved since I was a child, had a great time.

Autumn

Zoo is good for kids need to be better kept put sure it lack of help like rest of world

Jm Kennedy (SheLz and Jon)

May not all be open like before this covid19 virus but still was amazing loved the Go-Karts

Mayra R.

Very nice zoo, the kids loved the parts where they were able to interact with the animals, the goats, birds, the deer, etc...

Juliana Quinlan

Went on Tuesday. Had 2 VIP passes they wouldn't honor as such. Gave us regular zoo pass bands. We got the passes from a church fair last year. No expiration date on them but was told the zoo doesn't sell them anymore??? We met a couple who said they had same conversation but eventually got someone to comply . We returned to desk where we got our bands for the day and again described our situation but no one there would given us the 2 bands with VIP. Status. Mind you more than half rides were closed and only one dart game was open. I did feel bad for the workers who will lose jobs due to lack of activity in the park but I will not accept deceipt on the park's part

Brandon Watson

Had a great time with my 6-year old. Facilities were clean and staff was friendly. I only wish there were more animals. The roses side was more carnival than I would have guessed, rides were old and dated a lot of paid midway games that are just big ripoffs.

Frank Johnston

No comparison to Asheboro, NC. Zoo! This joint is a little OLD and outdated. Ok, but no pizazz.

Kayleigh Clancy

A really fun place to bring your family. Prices are reasonable, you can make it a super fun day! Riding the camels are a unique experience!

nestito hernandez

It's a good place it's been too hard times and understand other things are still closed but I hope in the future it will get better

Christie Torres

Nice little zoo for young kids. The petting areas are fun, like feeding the deer, goats, or ducks. Could use some updating on rides and general upkeep, and some animals look like they could use some more room, but still worth a visit if you've got a child that loves animals.

Samantha Perkins

The animals l look really unhappy! And there homes are really.small I think they need to upgrade there enclosures

Tiffany Mooney

The place isn't what I expected, most of the animals were goats, didn't have half the animals the website said it had and most of the rides were not able to be utilized due to the lack of staff as they hire people from out of the country and they weren't able to get their J1 visas. My children had fun, bit wasn't what was expected. No Tigers, snakes or any of that...... most definitely 2.5 starts from us......

Polly Goodwin

Sadly this spot needs a fuel overhaul! I still find myself going back each year but most of my visit if spent feeling appalled and like the place is a joke! I genuinely worry for the few animals left at the zoo!

Vaibhav C

Really nice place, great staff, real fun for children. Well maintained. My family has enjoyed a lot.. i will recommend this place to every parent to visit here with their children.. good one day picnic place.. they have lots of fun rides, games for children as well.. special attraction is Bengal ????.. variety of animals..great food service is also available inside the zoo..

BudMouse420

It's a cute little zoo, I took my 17 & 11 yr old kids. They enjoyed it but seemed just as we were getting into the excitement it was over. Great for smaller kids, just big enough to make them tired. Good selection for its size, a lil bit of everything. We got lunch at the snack bar by the tigers, personal pizza, tuna sub ( which had no taste at all) & a hot dog + 3 drinks & small bags of chips. $30 I was disappointed with that. Not a satisfying meal. Got some great photos & was a good half day of adventure. Recommend for smaller aged kids or a fill in afternoon.

Heather Lievens

It's an ok place to go and kill some time. It looks run down bathrooms stink but they have a bunch of animals for the kids to pet.

Sonia Bermonty

I can't in good conscience give it a 5 because we only did the zoo part... but I will say I can't wait to bring my grandson to this place seemed awesome and for just two adults visiting the zoo we really enjoyed ourselves especially how we came across ducks and small deer that you can actually interact with ...the location is perfect my husband and I went there after the beach which btw is right down the street

jennifer kullgren

After reading lots of bad reviews about how dirty the place was we decided to go anyways after all I don't think I've ever been to a zoo that was clean and didn't smell. We had a great time the place was very busy. We didn't bother with rides and the food stand was very organized and service was fast. Unless you're a primadonna I highly recommend this for younger kids especially. They could use to spend some time marking the cages so you know what everything is though.

Franky Rodriguez

Fun small place to visit some exotic wild life. The deer pen was a lot of fun!

Lindation Jorge

Love this Zoo, has a variety of animals, sad to hear the white tiguer passed away. It also has mini park with rides & games for kids and petting zoo.

Roberto Perez

It felt free and open as a Zoo should be... The price is just right for visiting and they have plenty of attractions to keep anyone occupied... Would go back again to enjoy a great Zoo!

Michael Deem

The zoo really exceeded our expectations. The animals are very active and well kept. It has many feedings which added more fun!

Zul Zul

I love this zoo for me is the best I have fun day with my kids ???? ????

Laura Barron

We liked our visit to York's Wild Kingdom. Perfect outing for a family day. There are a ton of animals and the butterfly garden was pretty cool. Bring quarters, as there are a lot of places to purchase feed for the animals. Not many rides were open though, as it seemed they may have been short staffed. The park has a lot of old school charm which I liked, but that may not be for everyone. There was something to do for most ages and we enjoyed our time there. The rides do require tokens which was a little confusing because we didn't realize so many of them would be closed, so we ended up buying too many tokens. My children are all in double digits and enjoyed themselves, there were lots of other things geared towards smaller children, too. Some of the animal enclosures were a little unkept, but I am thinking this is a staffing issue as well, as Covid has left a lot of places short staffed. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, I'm sure it is even better running at full capacity.

steve gagnon

We had lots of fun on our trip back in July. Many different animals to see and learn about. Excellent place to bring the kiddos.

Greg Bean

Lot's of fun! Get to enjoy the animal's up close and have opportunities to feed them as well. Great time for our family!

Marie Pepper

I loved coming here. Only my second time but, sure won't be the last!! ????

Charlie “CharlieSays” Ciares

The kids always have a great time here. Even with the pandemic, they made it easy and safe to go through the whole park, without it being too much for the kids.

Tanya- Nicole

Had a good array of different things to do for all ages, so all the family can enjoy. Brought back so many memories from being a kid and coming here, especially getting to bring my own 2 daughters and my Daddy. Very special. These pics I'm posting with my comment aren't even close to all they have there. Definitely recommend for family and friends. Have fun!!!

Alison L

Very small compared to the size it once was and they have downgraded most of the rides and amusement park. And they did not have any reptiles on display. I could put on a better reptile exhibit with my animals from home

Whitney

Update: York police denied my appeal, but they so graciously reset the 10 days to pay the ticket. They gave no reason for the denial. BE AWARE IF YOU PARK ON BEACH SIDE. The parking lot has 2 pay meters, but there is no signage whatsoever. I talked the Community Services Operations personnel. He said that it is everyday from 8am-8pm for parking. I received a parking violation of $35 dollars that I plan to contest. Other than that we had a good time at the zoo :)

Emily Gayle

This is a fun place to take little children. They really enjoyed walking with the parakeets and feeding the goats and deer. The amusement rides look like a traveling carnival just stopped and stayed there. We were not impressed with the ride selection or quality so we did not go. There are some parts of the park that need updates. But the animals seemed happy and the enclosed areas for the animals was well kept up with.

John Fellian

Small park; limited number of animals. Very clean.

Kelly Torres

Cute little zoo in southern Maine. You can see all of the zoo side in a couple of hours at a relaxed, leisurely pace. The animals all seemed very well cared for and their habitats were all clean. We had a lot of fun interactions with them. The goats are very affectionate, especially for a treat! The kids loved that they were able to go inside the goat area and pet them up close. The butterfly exhibit was also very neat, with lots of pretty butterflies and makes for a nice retreat from the sun and heat if needed. We didn't explore the amusement park side, so I can't speak for that part. We will definitely do that another day. Over all, it's just as I remembered from my childhood and we had a wonderful time.

Jennifer Nelson

York's Wild Kingdom should get four stars for the value alone. Very affordable family destination and they offer a generous military discount. The zoo is well maintained and has some good variety. The free paddle boat rides are pleasant. The camel and pony rides are extra, but are a good value if the kids are excited to try it. Food on site is low to moderately priced. The amusement park is dated, but kids don't notice or care and still have a great time (bumper cars are my favorite and you can see the beach from the top of the Ferris wheel). You can see the zoo complete within 2-3 hrs and do every amusement park ride within 2 hrs. Makes for a very fun and affordable family day.

Justin Selmer

This place is in aweful disrepair. Not even basic maintenance is done like mowing. Everything is old and broken. Not sure what happened over the years but this is not what I remember. I had to show my kids old photos of how it used to be.

Traci Laffin

Listen it is what it is. It's $66 for all 3 of us to enter. (Animals and rides) The animals are interesting and the rides are old but our 6 year old had a blast. You park for free on the route 1 side, do the animals and amusements, then walk out the back into York beach and shop or eat without looking for parking. Child is happy. Parents are happy.

Randall King

I understand with the Covid going on and everything you want to keep everyone safe including the animals, but maybe it shouldn't be open right now. Not much to see or do. So use to petting the goats and feeding them and having our picture taken with the snake. At the end of the zoo going in the amusement park side and riding the rides, it was just very depressing. We did however get to at least have our fried dough!

Becky Noyes

Great place to bring the family

Daniel Nestor

The staff and everything were wonderful Animals also seemed happy in their habitats. I feel bad though as the park was quite run down lookong and needs major updates on exhibit maintenance. Seems like their funding may be low. Any big donators out there??

Aileen Marsh

My favorite part was being able to feed the free roaming deer. Although they were very rude and pushed me out of the way when I would get food for them out of the dispenser lol.

James Clogston

Great fun today even in the rain great courteous staff

Ben Willey

Smoking everywhere which idk how they get away with it in Maine. Kids place with 10 smoking areas. Smell of smoke very common. Rides say 48" my daughter was denied a ride then accepted at another so no uniform code to it. Employees look like they really don't want to be there based off there actions and responses. Animals also look sedated or unhappy especially the large ones. Restrooms are horrible. Ladies line took 20 minutes to go through. Not enough staff to keep the park tidy. I have gone twice now and would say it's a basic zoo for Maine with such a drive to find another one. This is the only reason I gave it 2 stars and not one.

Chad laplante

Great memories as a child but landscape at the habits was abysmal

Karen Chiarizio

Very run down except for the area where the animals are. Kids had fun though.

William Shipley

We didn't even do the rides section which looked fun but this was a great experience for the little one and my wife and I. The monkies, deer and the tiger were probably the most impressive. The butterfly room was totally worth it and my almost 2 y/o girl LOVED it. The only thing we noticed is that it was a lot of birds, and the goats were a little aggressive like Tom Brady on game day.....????????

Sandra Tranquilli

Great place! The zoo and the rides were awesome.

Kylah C

Loved all the animals & rides :) Filled my phone chip with photos :)

Cindy Smith

Bring my kids every year, love seeing all the animals. Only complaint would be that there are only 2 areas of the park that have a restroom

John Coons

Nostalgia (and COVID considerations) might be keeping this from a much lower score. Honestly, it's a pretty solid animal lineup for a tiny private zoo. The rest of it is an ancient, skeletal trash heap of an amusement park with slowly declining upkeep on the zoo end and dwindling animal variety. As a distraction for the family amid beach activities, it will get the job done.

Billy Cross

The zoo was great. Rides were OK, but many closed due to COVID restrictions. Can't fault them for that.

Michael Pach

The butterflies enclosure was really nice and there was lots of great animals. Unfortunately when I saw the tiger it was in pain and clearly wanted to be left alone. You could tell the poor tiger was injured because it had a limp and it also was making loud moaning sound. Seeing the injured tiger kinda ruined the experience.

Christina Vinson

This place is great for young children! Everything was decently priced, the food was actually really good, and the rides are perfect for any kid under 5. There are some rides for older kids and adults, but I dont recommend going there if you dont have some little kids, too.

Mathew Chacko

The animals are really cool

Heidi Kuhn

It was a very nice and fun zoo to walk around and see the animals. The butterfly exhibit was awesome.

John Bilbrey

Even in the midst of Covid, the staff was helpful and courteous. The park has set up a one way trail through all the animals which is actually nice so you get to see everything! Thank you for being open in this trying time, my son loved seeing all the animals, even the goat who decided to give him a lick!

Holly Reynolds

Was a great day for a 3 year old! He loved the rides & was able to go on multiple times. Restroons were very clean & the employees were very good with the kids & shared info on the animal behaviors. Only disappointment was the point ride for an extra $5.00....way too short!!!

Brian Pecjo

Interesting variety of exotic animals. Great place to bring the family. Butterfly exhibit was a hit with the kids and spouse. Plan spending about 2 hours here. There's plenty to do nearby too if you plan spending the day.

Angelina Marie

The place has depreciated and looks run down. The animals didn't have fresh water on site. Several enclosures are over grown and unkept. It's very different from 10 years ago.

Meena Cs

The wild kingdom is good. There were not many animals though during the visit. There were many different beautiful peacocks. The butterful section is worth the visit. There were bunch of deers and Antlers. The good part here is you get to feed many of them like the ducks, goats, deers. Beautiful parrots but the parrot really didnt seem to be locked up in the cage. It was afternoon and the were sleepy i belive a pair of tortoise, lion and many others. Its a huge place, if they could increase tge space for animals and there is ample amount of free parking space. Its a very nice place for kids to enjoy and adults too. Definitely the place and the animals can be handeled much better. Hope they would improve and do a good jobin future.

Rosemary Lopez

Quick the enjoyable small zoo, you could see everything and get out within an hour and a half or so or.... You could enjoy yourself and spend 2-3 hours. Either way, not an all day event like some zoos but you could make it one with the small amusement park for younger kids. Thoroughly enjoyable, wide range of animals that appeared well cared for. Knowledgeable staff.

Valerie Wunderlich

It's just great, still has a very family friendly place. They are always busy but never feel crowded, the layout is perfect to allow families their own little space to stop & look at the animals and go at their own speed without causing congestion and holding up others. We go most years and probably still will when they are older, 12 &14 now and they still like it.

Daniel chavez

Because of staffing issues, some exhibits closed. Gift shop was pretty sparse, maybe due to end of season.

suzanne stavis

Very nice small zoo.Family oriented.Buy food there or bring a picnic lunch. They have plenty of shaded picnic tables available.

Tim Frye

Parking is fairly atrocious at the busiest of times (holidays mostly). Needs some landscaping and some minor repair work on the structures. Some of the animals look a little sad. Overall a little run down but we still enjoyed it anyway. Be aware that the rides are charged separately and somewhat expensive for what are really just carnival rides. Staff were generally nice and helpful.

Brian Noury

The website said admissions close at 5 and there was a white tiger as the main attraction. Apparatnly admissions close at 4 and the white tiger is dead. The one tiger that they had was clearly injured and limping, could barely get down to reach it's almost completely depleted source of water. Female lion was clearly also distressed. We got there a little past 4 because with the website saying the zoo closed at 6, we thought that we had more time. We ended up getting rushed out by staff and they were also very sarcastic when we asked what happened to the tiger. Apparantly she just bumped into something and that caused her to completely wreck her shoulder. This place leaves you feeling worse than when you walked in. Please dont go.

Laurie Cushing

Our toddlers had a great time. I felt like there weren't many animals. But they enjoyed their day so I'll give it four stars.

JMan 127

This zoo continues to fall on hard times with what seems like little money being poured back into the park, and even more, the habitats themselves. I'm not a Greenpeace guy, because I'm a big fan of zoos and aquariums, but it's sad to see some of the enclosures and habitats that these poor animals live in. Definetely not trying to be overly critical, but I would not recommend this place.

Betsey Rachel Norwood

Great for all ages. My boys are 17 and 18 and they had a blast. For the price (59 for all 4 of us) you really can't beat it. Definitely brings snacks and drinks if you can!

Standish Chiasson

This is a fantastic place for children young and old to see and learn about animals from all over the world. The park it just the right size that you can see everything in just a couple of hours without feeling burned out. They offer a variety of opportunities to interact with and even feed some of the animals. The "amusement park" has rides for children ages 2 & up, as well as mini golf and several of the standard carnival games. All and all it is a great place to take the family for a day of fun and learning.

Tom “Vu” Varnum

Wow, this place really has gone downhill. About 7 years ago, we visited here and it was good. But recently....half the park was closed and the prices were the same. It seemed they hadn't cleaned up from the winter...leaves everywhere...everything looked old and dated and very few animals. Time for a major reinvestment or sell the land and make condos. Pains me to say it.

Nick Baker

Nice, quiet day at the zoo. Our 4 year old had a really great time! Park needs some attention! Animal enclosures were very small. Animals seemed happy & healthy. Lots of brand new baby goats...one born while we were there, super sweet! Very reasonable prices even on food and souvenirs. Nice day overall.

Mark Viens

Go here at least once a year when we vacation in Maine.

Kristie Davis

We couldn't find an atm and one of the food stands was cash only and they have feeders for the goats and the parakeets, so unfortunately my children only got the quarters I had in my purse. The animals were wonderful, we had a great time walking around the exhibits, so many amazing animals I never would have seen in person otherwise. My children were so excited and loved it!

Fred Spon

The animals are beautiful and very well taken care of. I love the way it's set up, the animals are living a pretty stress free life yet the visitors get to see each animal up close. The whole expect was much more interactive than many other zoos. I didn't go to the ride side, but based on the happy screams of terrified children it was fun. Overall the whole place had fun almost carnival like atmosphere. And make sure if you want to feed the animals you remember to bring quarters, and if you forget they are happy to exchange paper money for quarters when you buy a ticket.

Rachael Wilson

Batting cages Closed and in disrepair.....Arcade Closed, Fun house closed, Haunted house closed, tiltawhirl closed...grass was knee high. Fun mirrors were broken. Whole park was a severe disappoint from what I remembered 5 years ago. The kids were happy with the animals but the exhibits themselves were poorly maintained. Giant slide was so run down that you couldn't even slip down the thing. Looks like something that has no money to run or put into the park. We ended up giving away our tokens for the rides because the kids were miserable and heading to the beach for some actual Fun! I have never left a bad review before but this place was not worth the time or money.

Robin Zulkeski

Alot of the cages where empty but my 6year old loved it there

umitzskye _

The animals were cool but the park is run down.

Kelly Lyons

It is not worth your money. Most of the animal cages are empty and some of the kids rides were not running. That didn't leave them many rides at all. On a positive note, the gift shop has very reasonable prices.

Jeff Royster

Took the kids there for the first time today, ages 9, 11 and 15. Everyone, including myself had a fantastic time. Just enough rides to keep it fun and like es weren't bad at all. The fried dough is only $5 and two people have to share it because it's so big. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Nelson Ruiz

Great place to spend a full family day with very safe location.

Em

Nice for what it is, but since the zoo is not AZA accredited, a lot of the animals are in encloses that are way too small. :( Would absolutely love this place if they got up to accreditation standards.

Lisa Maple

This place was great! There is rides and the zoo. So much for the kids to do and it's not that expensive.

Lindsay Higgins

York's is awesome! So much fun! York's has an amazing collection of animals that were all clean and very well taken care of. York's Wild Kingdom is an awesome place and I cannot wait to visit again next summer!!

Robin Davis

Very unfriendly staff, not one worker looks like they even enjoy working there. Not a place to work if you don’t like people. Due to COVID I understand needing people to wear a mask but trying to force my autistic son to wear one and not others is ridiculous. No worker enforces the rule to keep people 6 ft apart or follow the arrows through the zoo. And no one cleaning through the zoo for things everyone has been touching. Too bad to see it so run down this year after all the years we’ve gone as a family and really enjoyed it.

Bill Snowdon

You can take a break from the waves and enjoy some exotic animals or have fun feeding the deer, goats, ducks, and other animals. Any exhibits have close though and it's apparent that staffing shortages have left many rides and food options closed.

Holly A

Bathrooms were disgusting. Younger employees had a bad attitude at BOTH consesion stands. The animals however were the most pleasant.

Shawn McCarron

Gonna Give them an extra star for combat veterans discount....animals seem well cared for and healthy and vibrant awesome for a smaller less corporate zoo but they need to landscape hard I watched an elderly woman tripping on weeds growing through cracks in cement on main walkways luckily her family and their stroller stopped the fall and she was embarrassed but at least didn't go down hard

Paul Bilodeau

We go every few years because we have “always gone”. The zoo part is very nice for the area but the rides and amusement park part is VERY dated and run down. The place is dirty the staff is not “ happy to be there” On our last visit 4 rides where closed bike to lack of staff and or broken.

Julie Labbe

Great place for all ages

Liz McCullen

One suggestion to people who are visiting. Mind the temperature. At 95°F, the animals, while well cared for, are obviously not feeling like jumping through figurative or literal hoops!

SozinComet BERSERKER

Well first off I thought I had more pictures I guess I didn't. It's a nice little Zoo they had a decent amount of little animals there they had the tiger as you can see but we made the zoo really cool was it had the little Carnival like thing attached to it so you can go see the animals you can go ride on some rides and I don't think it was that expensive I can't remember to be honest.

Melanie Linscott

A lot of things are still down or not operating. Was a good busy day. Lines for food were long. My shout out goes to the staff today! My son is blind and uses a cane. The ride operators were all patient and very kind to him. Especially the ferris wheel, merry go round, and smaller one I think was a mouse ride. Much appreciated guys!!

Susan Goddard

Fun place to bring the family. Swan boat rides and a lot if animals to see. Also a large butterfly building.

Jessica Aguilar

Cute small zoo. Like some else commented below. As soon as you begin to get into the excitement of the zoo it comes to an end pretty fast. We got there at 1145 were out by 245. We also did the rides during that time. There are not many rides for children 48". Most rides were for the little ones 36" and under. Feeding the deer that come right up to you was pretty neat.

Sarah

There were more animals than I thought there would be, but the enclosures were really small.

Maggie

Run down and old. Gift store hardly had anything in it. The poor animals were swimming in green swamp water I felt so bad for them :(

Wellen Parmenter

We love it here. The grands get such a kick out of it. They can be a challenge, staff is gracious and lovely and patient.

Nicole's Herbal Skincare

We go every year, this year is greatly impacted by the staffing shortage. While I understand, it was still disappointing to see the place looking run down. Many exhibits had over grown grass and debris making it difficult to see the animals. Many animals were not even there, no geese and barely any ducks. The deer were not allowed to roam around. No snake, no paddle boats. I did love the bird exhibit. Hopefully next year things will be back to normal

Sun “Sunny” Shine

Horrible place!! So bad that I’m going to call the state of Maine to report them. Numerous sick and even dead animals. You can walk in a little enclosure with tons of parakeets and I saw numerous adults and children stepping on them while an older woman who worked there swatted the birds away with a net. Horrific and barbaric. The rides are a joke and More than half of them were closed. Sadly they don’t tell you this when you pay at the gate. This place really needs to be shut down by the Board of Health. The restrooms were beyond disgusting and full of black mold. All the animals need to be rescued and taken to Sanctuary’s where they can live the rest of their life in peace.

Cocina con Keila

It was a great place it had ton of animals and rides I would recommend this zoo!

sean noonan

Exhibits are well maintained there is something for all ages. Nice thing to do if you don't want to spend a ton of money but still want to get out of the house.

Samantha Wood

It's not the prettiest looking place, like six flags or even fun town, but it's great for young kids and toddlers. I took my daughter here for her 3rd birthday and she loved it. It's just kinda sad to see the animals caged up, as it is with any zoo or circus. But it was fun otherwise, my daughter had a blast. Wouldn't recommend for older kids or teens, as the rides are geared for younger kids. I'd say fun town or six flags would be better for older kids. Definately visit York Beach and Nubble lighthouse after! They are both down the road and a worthwhile visit.

MARCY Soutiere

This has always been a fun place for us to go every year. We love seeing all the animal's

MrBerlin NH

Very nice place. Many different animal exhibits. You can also ride a camel, so thats neat.

Cameron Tylek

They have a good amount of animal species including a lion, cassowary, and a lynx. There is a fenced in deer park where you can feed the deer from the palm of your hands. You can ride a horse, pony or even a camel. There is a free butterfly garden that's also fun. It is the animal kingdom itself has enough to entertain your kids for 1-2 hours. They also have a carnival for kids outside of the zoo that has a lot of carnival themed rides. You have to pay per token for the rides, as you can no longer ride all the rides for a single price anymore. The go-karts are $4 per person, which is surprisingly cheap. You get 3 laps, and it's pretty fun. We visited on a Friday in the early afternoon, and there wasn't much of a wait either.

Dan Kuhs

The parking lot is not structured, so it's easy to be blocked in. Entry is expensive to see depressed animals that don't appear to be well taken care of. The rides are very old and rusty, so they don't feel safe. If you're interested in a Maine zoo visit the Maine Wildlife Park instead.

Christine Blakeslee

Great zoo! Priced reasonably, never crowded, free parking!! We love the butterfly exhibit and feeding the goats and deer. Saw the tigers moving around last time we visited, and the monkeys were very active too

Spencer Beal

Overall its a great place to bring your younger kids. But I have to say this place needs a bit of work here and there. Some of the rides and areas throughout the park look a little rundown and bland. The food here isn't terrible but can be as pricey as fair food is. Most of the employees there are high school kids, so customer service can be either good or bad, depending on how their attitudes are that day. Other than that I have a lot of great memories coming here as a kid. The 'Scrambler' was always my favorite ride!

Christos Dede (CDPP)

Place was kind of a dump, half the cages were empty. There were more goats and ducks than anything exotic.

JY Wang

All the animals are cute and the butterflies are beautiful

Allison Richner

The zoo is great. The amusement park was terrible. Very run down.

Tina Winters

One of the only places to go mini golfing in York. Coarse was gross...full of dirt mold, moss weeds everywhere..water features no longer existed. Please take a little pride in your establishment. Lord knows it costs enough to participate in activities here. Invest in it a little..it's worth it. Not to mention every hole was similar..change it up a little or don't charge for it. The zoo is wonderful as is the rest of the fun area. This review was solely of the mini golf area. Other Pro was no one was here on Coarse so we could take our time and it was shaded. Has great potential.

Elizabeth Prybylo

Pretty much the perfect place for young kids! Great animals and fun rides. Had a blast!!!!

Joel Voorhees

Five stars for what it is. It's a small, local, family fun place. It's a great place for young kids, plenty of kiddie rides and you do not have to pay an admission fee. So if only the kids are going on rides, mom and dad are free. The kids can get a ride all day pass or buy tokens for rides. So if you're just popping in for a quick visit after a day at the beach it won't cost an arm and a leg. We take the kids every summer at least once and we're 2+ hours away. The zoo is impressive for a little, local place and has plenty of shade and the usual park type of food. It's clean and family oriented. The added bonus is that York is such a great town, a real throwback to old New England beach towns. It's a family vacation kind of place, not much for the singles scene.

Katherine Moore

My one and two year old had a blast. The pony ride was perfect for them and they loved the goat petting area too. Highly recommend for families that have littles that can't do the beach very long. Just hit up York's Wild Kingdom and make the most of your day trip!

Cindell C

We enjoyed all of the interactive experiences feeding the ducks, deer, goats, and parakeets! The butterfly garden area was also quite fun to explore! The price was lower than almost all other family friendly attractions we're used to visiting, so that was nice. Rides are a little more limited currently, due to low staff, but that seems to be the case in most places, and the available rides were fun, cheap and we didn't have to wait in line. Vrooom, vrooom, endless go-karts!

Kylee Playz

I would not take my kids back there. Too strict on the ride requirements. My 7 year old was either too short or too tall for basically everything! The animals seemed depressed with the exception of 1 monkey. The enclosures were all small and it's the jailed animal experience. The deer petting area was a good experience. But over all these animals are Not living a comfortable happy life...most of the primates were visibly depressed. Not worth the money to get in.

Dee (Lupiegirl what now?)

Fun spot! Very affordable this time of year and convenient food options too. Bring quarters if you want to feed the animals. Our toddler had a blast since there's so much interaction!

Paulina Panek

Always a fun stop while in York beach. The admission tickets are so worth the price. Most of the rides at the amusement park are included in the price of the zoo ticket. The butterfly garden is so fun, even for adults. They have many different animals. It’s located down town so if you want to leave for lunch and come back, you can! Just keep your bracelet on. We made a day of it and the kids had a blast.

Alyshia Keenan

I almost didn't go with my family because of the very poor reviews, but my 5 and 3 year old kids and I had a great time. The whole place was much bigger than I expected and the zoo was a lot of fun! Maybe it is because I didn't see what it looked like when this place was in its prime, but I didn't find the amusement section much different than a traveling carnival. Sure, some rides were closed and they looked older, but what was open was still a lot of fun, and kids don't care.

Gabrielle DiLalla

We did not go into the zoo. But they had free parking for both the amusement area and zoo. The amusememt area is good for small children. Most of the staff was friendly. Others looked miserable and didn't want to be there. (It was hot out so maybe that played a part). Ticket prices weren't too bad. You can get a bracelet for all day for $23 I believe.

Coree Peters

Very sad. Small cages and animals looked bad. A bird died in the bird cage and the lady just raked it up and put it in a 5 gallon bucket near the door. My young kids liked it but I absolutely did not!!!!

John F

Do enjoy wild animals or maybe live with some? Then take a trip to see them in person, a zoo without the feeling of a zoo and where else can you feed deer? Small amusement rides and food available. Tickets can be paid for by credit card and bring cash or quarters.

This place is a great place to take the family. We foolishly thought we could drive up from New Hampshire and attend same day but we hit traffic entering the Zoo property and we ended up being parked near the main road. There was a team but the wait wasn’t worth it so we hightailed it with 4 kids to the zoo. In all, we did the zoo in less than 2hours. The most amazing part is the interactive animal exhibits where you can feed the deer and the goats. After the zoo we decided to do the rides which were just your average carnival rides. There’s a lot to do for all ages. My youngest is 4 and my oldest is almost 10. Everyone had fun. It could be a full day event if you take your time and spend time doing the rides. We didn’t want to stay any longer so we decided to head up to Old Orchard Beach for the rest of the day.

Denis Lage

Better than expected. To get a break from the beach, we spent the better part of a day enjoying the many species of animals on site (including a butterfly ???? house which the kids absolutely loved) as well as big cats, monkeys, a petting zoo, and camel rides. There's also an amusement park which has the typical kiddie rides and a go cart track. Well worth the visit to break things up on your stay in or around York.

Daniel Ryan

I love this place it's very sad they can't find any help I hope things get better for them it would break my heart to see them sell out been going year since I was 5years old

Meriel

What a disgrace! Both with the exhibits and the fact that they’re even taking your $$ when half the park is closed or run down and looks effing terrible!! Legit felt like I was walking through Fallout or something. I would rate this -5 stars if I could. We were so displeased. I haven’t been back here since my son was younger (he’s 14 now) and thought it would be as cool as it was back then. I know covid happened but come on!!! If they had told people it was half closed and nasty, at least you’d make an informed decision. What a joke. And a very sad one because the animals they did have seemed unhappy and neglected. I will never go back here and will hope that it gets closed down and these animals get placed elsewhere. I don’t know what happened to this place but it was pitiful. DO NOT WASTE YOUR $$.

Mat Flint

Considering Covid 19 this was a nice experience, I'd missed zoos and gosh darn it Maine has this one. It's old, slight outdated, but it has charisma and it's on the coast which gives it some panache. We were staying 2 days in next door Wells and needed an activity to keep us entertained.saw some gorgeous earth creatures. Butterfly preserve, mandrills, goats, lions oh my! Quite fun, social distancy. Kept us good for 2 hours. Highly recommend.

I suck at YouTube

I has a wonderful day with my grandmother here. She was very excited to be allowed to pet the deer. This zoo is very clean, the staff has real knowledge of the animals on site. We enjoyed that the animals were active, however it was tain in the forecast so the butterflies were a little bit in hiding. 5 stars

Jessica Lynn

The condition of some of the attractions are deplorable. Some of the animal enclosures really needed to be maintained better. Honestly looks like a run down almost abandoned park.

Thomas DuBois

Beautiful little zoo I go every year with the family. The only thing I wish was a little better would be the groundskeeping I noticed areas that could be cut lower and bushes cleaned up for better view of the animals

Jenn Chase

I go here with my kiddos every year. Cute little zoo and an amusement park.

Nicole Sprague

Best time for the family! We loved the animals food rides and games

Elasa YangGang

I've gone several times with my kids when we need to pass the time but this zoo and amusement park needs desperately to be updated. Everything is getting very run down. The animal cages looks clean to me and there were several staff members tending to them which was positive. The staff was very friendly - even the folks tending to the rides. My kids had a great time. I just an amazed at how shabby everything looks. I hope someone spruces the pace up soon.

Kristin Burke

A nice zoo with very reasonable prices. They also have other attractions like go karts, mini golf and a few rides but we went while it was still off season so that part was not open yet.

Earl Pease

Weekend

Carly Roberge

The animals were great and the rides i had a wonderful time but it wish the paddle boats get a little easyier

Christine

Great place for the kids depending on their height.... Food inside was overpriced and not good at all... Pack your own food...

Tammy Roy

A very fun place to go with your family.. we love it

Susan W

Unkept grounds..& bushes grown up so we could not view some animals. Deer area very strong odor. Spoke to two employees, not friendly. 2 tigers we saw last year, were not even there anymore. Bathroom had no paper towels, and both hand drying machines were broken! Especially at these times? Very important for public safety to wash hands. (may want to let public know what animals are no longer at the zoo!) Not impressed!!

Astric Cruz

It has been a long time, it needs some love and attention, it is privately owned zoo and park, donations are needed to preserve it. Great memories, went as a kid, took my children, and now bringing my grandchild ???? I hope it stays open for a long long time!!!

Anthony Dacunto

My daughter loved seeing all of the animals. The amusement park component has seen better days

alyson halliburton

It was fun just not many options for rides and so many of the animals look so sad...

Amie Humphrey Facendola

I feel badly leaving this review because apparently they were hit pretty hard with not being able to open last year because of COVID. But this place definitely needs help. None of the rides were open and it's all very run down. I love classic old beach entertainment but walking through the amusement area felt more like an abandoned park than a park that was open recently. Some of the animals seemed good and happy and were being cared for but others were definitely in too small and inadequate enclosures. Also many of the areas were empty. Just set your expectations very low and you should be good. I really, really wanted to like this place but I wouldn't call it a must see.

Nice place for small kids but the whole amusement park looks rundown. The animal park though is clean and nice for all ages.

Natasha Jordan

One of my favorite places to visit. The zoo is amazing and I've always loved the paddle boats. I recommend buying the zoo and rides pass to fully take in the whole experience. The employees are very sociable and knowledgeable about the animals they work with.

Lisa Pickowicz

The animals were fantastic! The staff was phenomenal, especially considering they are obviously having the same issues as many seasonal companies in 2021 with finding workers. While noticeably understaffed (I am assuming this was the reason many of the rides and the arcade was closed) the staff we did encounter were knowledgeable, pleasant and happy.

David Beane

Took my two grandkids and we had a great time. My only comment was that not everything was open which was somewhat frustrating, but it's also because of the pandemic. The staff without exception was wonderful and great with my grandkids

Alicia B.

Cute for kids, and the staff I encountered were friendly, but it was sad to see how run down the zoo felt as a whole. Staff were busy cleaning the cages but the grounds could use some upkeep/updating and none of the animals seemed particularly happy. My 2-year-old really enjoyed feeding the ducks, goats, and deer, so that was good. None of the amusement rides were open due to COVID-19. They do require masks throughout the zoo and there are a few hand sanitizing stations available, although I didn't see anyone sanitizing any surfaces while I was there. In my opinion, it's worth going if you have young children, otherwise I would skip it.

Kevin Gustafson

Zoo was average, lots of goats and monkeys and birds. Butterfly kingdom was a nice experience. The rides were fun for kiddos.

Molly Hege

they have so many animals that are so cute :) i love the toucan

Amber Katherine Matthews

Great time lots of fun for all ages. Food prices are a bit ridiculous. For a drink fries buger and chichen sandwich it was $22 bring a pic nic next time

Phillip La Vallee

My wife and I enjoyed our visit recently, but it does seem to be struggling.. a noticable number of areas were closed, and there was an overall sense that this is not York's Wild Animal Kingdom's most flourishing year, likely due in part to the pandemic. It's still a nice place to visit, especially if you have kids, if you don't live too far away.

Barb Enos

Kids love this place. The staff are friendly, restrooms are easily located throughout and York Beach, as well as the town center, are an easy walk away.

Amylynn Michelle

It's nice to be able to see exotic animals, but some of the habitats really need care and updating, especially the lions.

Kyle Bullock

I love York Harbor, and this amusement park reminded me of every 80's coming of age vacation movie. Affordable and not too crowded.

James Perkins

Nice and relaxing place to visit. We were able to see some non-native species in the zoo and learn at the nature show before attemding the attached amusement park. Good food nearby as well as the beach. Reentry same day is allowed.

Kristen D

Nice little zoo. I understand they are having trouble finding staff, and the zoo easily had half the guests of pre-pandemic times. It was hot yesterday, so I expected the animals to be resting in the shade, and they were. Less staff and less animals than there should be, but if the guests keep coming, they can recover next year. Small enough to walk around in 4 hours with a toddler. Bring lots of quarters for the animal feeding stations.

Maddie P

We had a great experience. Definitely worth getting the Zoo and Ride pass for the kids. Staff was good. I found food to be reasonably priced better than most amusement parks.

Paul R

It was nice to visit the zoo, but you can tell it’s run down and unfortunately lacking better animals to attract more visitors

sonya orourke

Small little zoo but perfect for kids! Mayve a couple hours and ud be all done. Picnic outside in the parking area. Grass and very shady thru out the zoo. The shade was great! There is a few hands on things for the kids. Little goats and feeding deer! So many baby monkeys right now! Great time to go visit. ****** negative ****** was there was bee everywhere and my friends 3 year old got stung on his finger

Rachel Henderson

Went on a whim (two adults) and we had a blast! Very clean, animals appeared to be very content, educational, plenty of space and plenty of goats and deer to physically pet/touch. Ride section is a little limited right now due to the pandemic, but we had fun on the goat carts. It was a great way to spend the day, then walk over to York Short Sands Beach and downtown York after!

Libra114

loved it, will go back! just wish souviners weren't so expensive.

Jen M

Not everything open but lil kids love the zoo!

Seth Heirtzler

It's hard to see a childhood favorite go to the wayside, it's for that reason I didn't rate it as a 3 star attraction. I hope they can work on repairs, the animals have way to little space and asked from the ducks, (which are my girlfriend's favourite)the capybara, and maybe the deer, all the animals seemed very sad. We didn't even bother with anything in the amusement park, it was all empty and the construction was dubious as it was all draining in quality since my dad and I remember it looking the same in both of our childhoods, except I remember a bit more rust and decomposition

Crystal Lessard

The York zoo was alot smaller than anticipated but ofcourse with a child it's big enough. The animals seemed to be the most active I've seen at any zoo. Friendly staff!

George Leite

It was quaint. Nice place to walk around with the kids. Lots of shade helped keep it comfortable on the hot day we were there.

Billy K

Was really looking forward to seeing the white tigers. Very disappointed to find out that the only one passed away last year. Should update the website..

Jeromy Cyr

Large Zoo with some great sights. Most of the big attractions were lazy laying around during our visit but the kids loved it none the less. Was alittle disappointed where they dont have any Bears or Moose. Cages seemed very clean. They have a nice picnic area and would recommend for any family to visit.

Kayleigh Clancy

A really fun place to bring your family. Prices are reasonable, you can make it a super fun day! Riding the camels are a unique experience!

Paul L

Loved it, this place is full of things to do and see. A must for a trip to York!

James Martineau

Awesome place for the kids. So many animals in nice clean pens. The zoo area is updated and all the animals look happy and healthy. The butterfly area is a must. The worker in there is so knowledgeable about the specific species. Kids loved it.

Ryan Hamelin

Very small compared to the size it once was and they have downgraded most of the rides and amusement park. And they did not have any reptiles on display. I could put on a better reptile exhibit with my animals from home

Shannon E

We love York's Wild Kingdom. Hadn't been since before covid. We finally got back and it was great. The new Parakeet exhibit is awesome!

rhysbans

it's right over the border and a good place to escape to with the family during the weekend. we pulled in at 10 am and there was a decent line. the exhibits were solid for a small zoo. the ride areas were fun to walk around and see with our toddler. it has somewhat of a county fair feeling

Neeraj Awasthi

Its a decent one day outing... Good for kids abt 3-9 years. Zoo is small and lacks ambience (but has fair amount of animals).. Adventure park is also dated but has ample of rides for small kids.. Not that crowded and with full package (allows all rides etc) you will not feel disappointed overall..

Dean Normandin

Me, my wife, and my son had an absolute blast visiting this zoo! They have food, drinks, carnival like area with games, and a little shop with all sorts of things. We were there for about 3 hours walking around looking at all of the unique & cute creatures! If you're visiting Maine this zoo is definitely a go to!

Brock Holmes

Other than the goats all the animals just seem sad. Parks in major need of an update / upgrade feels more like a weekend fair than an amusement park.

Lily H

Run down and sad. The enclosures are far too small for most of their animals. The enclosures are bare and the animals seem bored and sometimes even stressed. The only animals that seem to be happy here are the goats, deer, and wild ducks- because they get fed treats all the time. Sad thing to say when 3 lions share an enclosure smaller than some of the goats do and yet these big cats in the wild roam for miles. Everything looks dated and run down. I joked when driving in that it looked like an abandoned theme park, and there is even part of the rides area thats shut off and abandoned. These animals just need to be placed in better sanctuaries and this place just shut down.

Lydia Lyness

Great value for a zoo! Lot's of animals, interactive attractions like feeding parakeets, feeding goats, feeding ducks, etc. Also some rides for a few extra bucks. Great for little kids! Also a butterfly area!

Tierra Nichols

Went here to see some animals, seeing as it’s listed a “wild kingdom” I thought it would be bigger and more open. Almost all of the animals are in cages :( it wasn’t very clean, barely any food and the cages weren’t cleaned well. I get short staffing after Covid but this was just not good. There were two lions in a very small cage that Did not seem suitable for their size. The animals seemed okay and happy, and most were fed while we were there. I do have to say the Butterfly area was AWESOME. Beautiful butterflies!

Navillus S

We had a good time here. 3 adults and 3 kids. 5, 5 and 3 yrs old. It's an old school type of place as far as the rides go and the zoo had a good mix of animals. Food was good. The only issue I had was that smoking is allowed in the park. I haven't been to a public place that still does and it surprised me. I'm a smoker and it still bothered me that adults were smoking right across from little kids rides and animal attractions. Right next to a "smoker's pole". You could smell it in the air, it's just not the place for it. Doing away with it would definitely enhance the park.

Michael Hunt

Came here for a fun day at the zoo, but my son, Jeremiah, got spit on by an emu and can’t look at birds anymore without crying, especially seagulls. Which poses a problem since we live on the coast. We need our money back to cover his obscene therapy bills. Otherwise it was a great day.

A2C T

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We will totally be coming back. Greatly geared towards toddlers!! My 2 year old loved it. Between the animals and feeding the goats it was really nice. We spent an hour feeding the deers, it was great. All the animals are well kept and it was worth the price!! The amusement park area was great. Staff was really nice allowing the kids to ride more then once. Rides were great and not long lines. I would recommend this place for anyone who has kids that are from 2 to 6. Combo tickets are such a bargain.

Joanne Cranston

The zoo was the only thing opened. The lines were so long to get any food drinks. You had to wait to see any animals because of the 6 ft of pot thing. we love going there every year but this year it really wasn't worth it you couldn't touch the animals you couldn't pet the animals like we did the deers couldn't feed them well scratch that you could feed them but you couldn't touch them you could throw the food over the fence to the deers. There were so many people feeding the animals that they really weren't hungry. The camel rides weren't there it just really wasn't worth it this year but any other year we've had a fabulous time five stars any other year this year only three stars.

Andrew Stout

It is sad to see it look run down as much as it is. Looked like it was nice place some time in the past but not now. Needs a good shot in the arm of money. The animals looked cared for the most part though.

Rob Rich

Had a blast with my family a little saddened by the short-staffed and half the park being closed but still an awesome time regardless

Dawn Gilmour

1st time visiting York's Wild Kingdom... With my 4 year old grandson... WAS AWESOME We had a WONDERFUL DAY!!! Thank goodness there are STILL Great family places around!!!

IrieMoon

The exhibits seemed to of had a lot of overgrowth of brush which was hard to see them. It was a really hot day and thought the animals could use more shading . My daughter loved it but couldn't help but feel bad for the animals. It is a very affordable place to take the kids which is a plus.

Darryl Kelly

It was amazing for my first time it was nice seeing animals but alot of the things were closed off, amazing tho!!

Phillip Somers

I loved coming here as a child, and then bringing my now 20yr old here as a child, and now my 9yr old! I worked here this summer as well and loved that side of it. Best and biggest friend dough ever! Nostalgic and fun. heavily geared towards younger kids, with options for older as well just not as much. Will be returning next year!

Brian Eisenmann

Fun place to go for the day. They have a small zoo that is good enough for most children. The zoo has anything from deer to tigers. They also have a section for rides and games. The rides are really geared toward younger kids. Plenty to do though to keep them busy for the day.

Dixie Myers

They should send every poor animal to a sanctuary and shut down. Animals aren’t here to entertain us and humans should not profit off a caged animal, especially if they don’t have the means to take care of them.

Norma Bredenkamp

Much more variety of animals compared to Boston Zoo. Friendly staff. Clean environment.

m r

We had a great time as a family! Sadly the amusement park is failing but the zoo was still so much fun! And that's really why we went. Hopefully the company is able to fix it up soon because the have a great thing going there ????

Seana Marie

Good inexpensive fun! Some parts are a little run down, but it's well kept and the animal pens are accessible and tidy. It's clear that they are constantly repairing and replacing paths and rails and pens. Read some reviews about dirty bathrooms, but they were well stocked. Can't expect pristine restrooms anywhere little humans with muddy feet are! Great half day trip for little ones to just go to the zoo side. Didn't go to the park side today as thunderstorms were forecasted. Staff were helpful and friendly, even when required to give bad news (closed rides) to complaining customers (rain dampened the moods of many)!

Natalie B

Had a great time. The Golden cheek Gibbons even put on a awesome job

Paul LeBlanc

Fun place! We have been taking the kids here for for 4 years. A couple of the animal enclosures were empty and a few of the rides and the arcade were closed. Some of the vegetation was overgrown. There are help wanted signs all over, so being short staffed could explain some of the disrepair/closures. We were also disappointed that the amusement park area has switched to a token system instead of one price for all the rides. We hope they can get some help and clean the place back up. It definitely has potential

Cynthia Phillips

Enjoyed the animals and rides! Awesome place to take the kids!

V C

A great zoo but REALLY needs to be updated and cleaned up. Overall always a good time when we visit.

Denise Ford

Being 2+ hours away I think I was expecting a bit more. Would love to see the place updated. Overall if you’ve been to any major zoos or big wild kingdom type places - you’ll find this place “cute”

Jackie New York

Nice area to vacation. Beach also walking distance and you can enter zoo from beach or beach to zoo. So much for everyone to do. Loved it family and all ages having a great time. We will visit again

Steven Sheaffer

Disorganized and poorly ran. Enclosures were not well suited for the animals. We went on a day where temps were above 90, and most of the animals did not have access to water. The animals were sad. We won’t be back.

Rob V

It was bigger than expected. The Butterfly “Kingdom” was small and not many butterflies. Overall cute zoo. Fed some goats and deers. Amusement rides advertised are nonexistent. Nice way to spend 1-2 hours.

Tracey Fitzpatrick

Had not been here in a few years and I must say everything has gone down hill! The grounds look like no one is keepig up with maintenance at all! Weeds everywhere! I felt like I went back in time amd nothing jas been updated. Wouldn't go again!

michael moroni

I think this place might be kept alive by nostalgia because it isn't a very good zoo or amusement park. It has a midway/traveling carnival feel from another era. An era that has come and gone for most other places. The location is good and offers something different from the beach, so that probably helps them stay in business. Definitely go there after you've had your fill of beaches and towns, though. Most of the amusement rides were run down and grimy. The staff were very nice, though. Age/height is a big deal. Half the rides are for over 48"; the other half are for under 48". This is kind of a PITA if you have kids that span that gap. A lack of competition in the "interesting stuff for kids" has inflated the price, but such is vacation life.

Joanne Dufour

August 2021..half of everything was closed down. It took less than an hour to go through entire zoo and I had three children with me! Even less time to go on rides!

Joseph Thibodeau

This place is run down like you wouldn't believe. They have no help like ever before because of what's going on in this world with covid19 and the government paying everyone to sit out of work. They really need to close and remake the place.

Christopher Tyler

Nice half of a day trip the small zoo was the highlight only sorry to see half of the place closed due to lack of employee to run would have liked to see this place in its glory days

Robert Clark

The parking situation was horrendous. More exotic animals then most places in Maine, but understaffed and the grounds had a unkept appearance. A number of cages were empty. In general I felt bad for the larger animals as their enclosures were relatively small. As a Maine resident I am not sure if I will go back again? Going to this zoo from points north expect lengthy delays on 95 and once you get off the York exit. The butterfly and small bird exhibit were nice for the kids and interactive. Bring cash for the animal feed the kids like feeding the birds and deer. $2 for a small cup of feed. Expect long lines in the hot sun, $3 for a kiddy cone ice cream and $3 for a bottle of water drink. I would recommend going in the fall it's just to hot with little shade on a hot day. If you are concerned about covid this places is wall to wall people at least on the weekend. One observation was that I am assuming this is a smoke free park, but there were people smoking and no enforcement from the staff.

Janet Geiger

Not as advertised most rides were broken, trails were not manged well or handicap accessible as stated. And most advertised animals weren't even there. The animals that were there had no real info about them and there enclosures over grown. Very disappointed

Catherine link

Was very happy with my experience here. This park is the first time my daughter (2yrs old) was able to go on rides alone. The staff were remarkable and patient with her. She wanted to ride the rides over and over...to the point she got tired and started crying. They showed now hesitation in stopping the ride and helping her off. Not once did a single member show any attitude or irritation towards us for this. This was beyond anything I was to expect. Bonus stars for this. The food was very reasonably priced and great portions. The Fried Dough was especially good. At just $5, its the size of the tray and easily shared between 3 adults and a 2yr old. The animals were well kept and looked happy. Some of the birds even interacted with the kids. Even though this is unpredictable, was a nice touch. If you're looking for a Zoo/Amusement Park combo to take your youngsters to, especially if they have never been on rides alone before, this place is one i will highly recommend. After you're done, you should also venture out to the boardwalk and see the ocean and visit the very large playground that's not too much of a walk.

Ahmed Fahmy

A very nice place for kids between 2 and 8 years combining both a small zoo and a small theme park.

john

Great for the kids. Zoo is lots of fun. Plenty of animals to see. Some carnival rides available and typical carnival type food as well. Tokens can be pricey for carnival rides, so plan ahead of time.

Roger Hensley

Some exhibits weren't open due staff shortages, but the majority were and they were very good

Ian Jay

Absolutely incredible. Great selection of animals. Truly a remarkable place. Great for little ones!

Shane West

It was amazing. I'm so sad that there was a lack of staffing but the animals and what not where great! My son had a wonderful time.

Holly Ronai

Yorks is awesome and easy to get too. A great way to spend some time off the beach

Chuck Mason

Great for kids and adults wanting to see wild animals in captivaty. Looks like the place could use an up dating. Great way to spend a few hours.

Majik Cache

Not the biggest or the best zoo. But Great for young children. 14 yers and younger. Just enough to keep children happy. And boring enough to make your teenagers whine. Price is a bit high for what you get.

devin macdonald

Awesome daughter's loved it definitely need some new animals to see alot of empty spots

Ashley W

I really love this place for the price and the entertainment you cant beat it really for small children, however this year the deer aren't walking around the people and that is one of the things we REALLY look forward to. You just have to pet and feed them through the fence. Thanks covid for ruining all the fun. ????

Loriann Hill

Love this place. My youngest grandson's 1st time and he had a great time. Will be back again.

Stacey Pelletier

Was not groomed or manicured at all. A lot of animals missing since I last went. Just looked run down even the rides weren't going. I would like my money back.

Lawrence Thompson

So run down, no maintenance. Everything was over grown and old. Used to be such a beautiful place.

Patty Pittman

Even though we are going through covid, they are doing a fantastic job of making family memories. I will be back!

Elizabeth reed

It's very out of date and most of the rides are old or not open due to shortage of staff. Also beware of ride tokens they are nonrefundable! Even though there aren't any signs indicating this! Don't waste your money! Management very rude & unhelpful.

Christina Steele

Super fun zoo for kiddos! It's not overly large or too small. It has a small amusement park attached for younger ones. They have a petting zoo, a butterfly park a HUGE duck pond with hundreds of ducks. They also have an open deer petting area. It can be very, very busy during the summer. I reccomend the fall or late spring when they first re- open for the year. The prices are fair and they have a decent concessions stand out front, but if you can't get in there, they have more inside the zoo.

Nichole Harasen

Memories from a different time very old, but still fun. Close proximity to short sands, just walk. Cool area in general. Great for pics!!! I have a pic with a giant snake too. I haven't scanned it in.

Jessica Durand

Some of the animals looked like they could use a larger habitat and the birds looked like the could use more food. The butterfly area was fun to walk in. Tons of people and no one was there to help you park. I remember the days when they had people help you park. A large part of the park was closed and the arcade was too. You had to walk through the closed arcade to get to the other side. It was very dark and creepy.

Prateek Batra

I went to this zoo not expecting the huge variety of wildlife they offered. We saw parrots, lions, tigers, kangaroos, and so much more. The butterfly exhibit was awesome, had a few land on me and my girlfriend. And we got to pet deer and goats! Definitely worth checking out! There's an amusement park there too!

Angie Peterson

Almost everyone visiting was wearing masks. Plenty of hand sanitizer around. Takes a little over an hour to walk through the entire zoo section. The White Bengal passed away, but there is another Bengal there. Overall loved the experience and all of the animals!

Mary Kate Coburn

Awfully kept, manure was everywhere, grass was overgrown. animals appeared extremely depressed and distressed. Not to mention only 3 rides were up and running. Really sad, DO NOT VISIT!

Johns world

Love this place. Brought the grandkids with us this time and made a day of it! So much to do , we ended up closing the place.. rides are great and the zoo part was so much fun, its incredible how many different types of animals that are there! Thanks for a great experience

Katz Eyex

The price is good for what you get. The zoo was bigger than expected. They have walkways marked for single direction which didn't seem to impact the way you enjoyed zoo. The kids enjoyes the butterflies. They have a little farm area that has goats, alpacas and deer. The kids liked feeding the deer. The only rides open at the amusement park was the giant slides and go karts. $3 Per person or token which wasn't bad at all. Ice cream was $3 and a fountain drink was $4 for 24oz.

Luis Galarza

We opted to only go through the zoo part of the park and skip the amusements. As far as the zoo area was concerned the enclosures were very nice and maintained. Lots to see. The sloth was awesome. Loved seeing the kangaroos. The lion and tigers weren't visible. Souvenir shops were well maintained and stocked. The food was a bit overpriced so we waited to eat. The bathroom's weren't very well maintained. No paper towels, garbage on the floor and smelled horrid. Parking was free always a plus. Overall a fun experience!

Wanda Plume

We had a great time. Its was a little run down bit still very much worth the visit. We rode a camel, feed goats and there was a place to feed deer! They walked through the fence to get to you. It was a great experience for us all. We also rode the paddle boats. There is also a section of 'kid-ie' rides and games .

Heather F

I've never been before so I don't know what the place was like in it's heyday but we had a really good time. Yes, some of the rides are closed but there were enough open to keep the 4 year old entertained, all the concession stands were open, and there were lots of animals to see, even on a very hot day. We would absolutely go back.

Tyler Pettengill

This place is AMAZING ❤❤ so so much fun and so worth it! I would suggest going during the week when it isn't as busy as the weekend but either way it is so worth it! The rides are geared toward younger kids (my boy is 4 and 43" height). He had a blast!! And so did I! We will definitely be going back ????????

Laura Rollins

Price for adult entry

Megan Cohen

If I could give lower I would! The staff, including management, was rude and unprofessional to the children and adults that went here for a field trip with my daughter’s summer program. Don’t waist your money and please see one of the many other attractions out state has to offer!

shiloh wilson

The zoo was so cute!! It was well laid out..my favorite part was the butterfly room!!

bill carter

Great place for our 2.5yr old twin girls! Not too big and not too small with a great variety of animals. My girls especially loved the interactive experiences like the barnyard feeding zoo, the deer walkabout, the aviary with multiple peacocks, and the butterfly enclosure:) I was worried about the cleanliness of the facility after reading multiple other posts however we were very pleasantly surprised and look forward to returning soon!!!

Joey A

This zoo is in a forest of Cape Neddick in the town of York in York County, Maine. Great for children excursions, family picnic, or just an outdoor fun close to nature. The animals are a beauty of their own species and are well fed and looked after by their dedicated and friendly staff. The butterflies are short-lived for 20 days only and the timing for hatching is unique. Each butterflies presents their kaleidoscopic colors & beauty. There are plenty of rides, picnic areas, food boots and souvenir store. Best for summer outdoor activity.

meagan parent

We went here today and had a great time. My wife had never been and we took our 1 year old for her first time as well. The animals are absolutely beautiful, the staff was great. The pricing is great too. The only thing we werw beyond upset about was we had to park on the far parking lot which was fine, but they we're doing the shuttle in the morning which was a great idea but when we went to leave they told us they were no longer doing the shuttle which we thought was a terrible idea due to the fact that there was a handful of people walking down the road to get back to their cars with children and strollers with nowhere to walk besides in the road with heavy traffic coming in and out which was extremely dangerous. I definitely think that they need to do the shuttle in the afternoon or make a walkway on one side of the street to make it safer to walk back to your cars in the afternoon

Kevin Whelan

Always a fun place, we bring the kids every summer. The mix of animals and different carnival rides and games make for a full, fun day.

Tom Jannicelli

Very small and expensive. You have to pay for everything like ride tokens and they won't tell you if curtian rides are not working at the entrance gate. You have to pay for food to feed the animals and if one feed machine eats quarters they won't refund them. In my opinion it's not worth the money for what you get.

Luis Mejia

Great little zoo but it needs attention.

albert webb

I guess it's good for children to see any type of animals that are located here. This place needs improvements within the park or if you call it a zoo. Everything looks old. The amusement park next to the zoo is also old. The zoo had more goats then any other animal there, maybe because they are cheap to buy or they do a lot of mating.

Angel Hancock

I was happy to see the merry go round running but that was it! Thought ya all might have a idont know, repaint or at least make it look inviting..sad!

Carol Sanborn

As usual, a wonderful day to see the animals!

Michelle Grant

Wish they kept the zoo in better shape. It has gone down hill the last couple years with empty and unkept enclosures. A few enclosures were mucky and left me feeling unhappy for the animals. Every single hand sanitizer station was empty.

Jennifer West

It's a really nice place to spend the day.

Kristy B

We just left the zoo and we were so disappointed. The first photo on the website is of a white tiger that had passed away. All we saw basically was monkeys and birds. A lot of overgrown vegetation. They say it’s one way yet the signs were not marked well. Took us a bit to find our way out!!!! Do not go there I assure u. You will be disappointed and out $50.00. On the way out the woman said their were lions but she’s lying lol.

Timothy Heffner

Up to 10 min

Jerome Donovan

For the price, this zoo is great. Something a family can actually afford. As much as an animal lover I am, I could see that all were taken great care of. Staff was friendly. Dated a bit, but it felt nostalgic.

Rag Arnold

Great visit with our family of five. This is our second visit and this time we decided to just enjoy the amusement park.

Heather Marie

It was nice to see that the exhibits were clean . I like seeing the animals being taken care of . The staff was super friendly in the butterfly exhibit. The goat petting area was awesome and the baby goats are too cute for words ! Def recommended for family fun.

Jackie Andrews

I think this place might be kept alive by nostalgia because it isn't a very good zoo or amusement park. It has a midway/traveling carnival feel from another era. white saltine 1-800

It was awesome my family had a great time I highly recommend going

37

Great place for children and adults alike! The beach is right down the street too, so you can leave the zoo or rides park and just walk there. Lots of animals, too.

Keith Mattingly

Very fun place unfortunately half of the park is closed because people want to take government handouts instead of working for a living. The butterfly section is especially amazing.

Toby Currier

Loved all the creatures. Missed the reptile exhibits! The Gibbons were active and hilariously loud! No more tigers. Miss them so much. It was rainy but still fun!

Jonathan Bean

No regular maintenance. Grass is uncut, trees are grown over. Animal habits were small and dumpy. Most of the rides weren't working and old and worn. Arcade closed..save your money. Seems like the owners have giving up and fixing it up.

Keith Hoyt

$11–15

Eric Alexander

horrible they had very few rides very few animals two thirds of the oark closed wont go back till more open!!!

Ima Awesome

This place is great for kids up to age 9/10 years older, older kids could potentially get really bored. The animals were good (except the tigers and lions seem to be in pretty small cages compared to other zoos I've visited and frankly just out of place) the goats and deer are slightly aggressive so be mindful with little ones when it comes to giving them feed (also bring quarters, or you can buy a bag of feed for like $3 cash) the food was what is expected at a zoo, nothing fancy. The rides didn't have long waits, and the attendants were really good about moving things along.

Amanda Putvain

What has happened to the zoo? Wow has it gone down hill. The grass hadn't been mowed anywhere, nothing trimmed, all of the buildings looked terrible and definitely need some TLC-fresh paint. The bathrooms had toilet paper on the floor, clogged toilets, no sanitizer and spider webs everywhere. The food is so over priced and really lacking in variety. All the animals look sad, no water nothing cleaned up anywhere. I give it a year and the zoo will be closed or at least should be if it's going to continue like this. My son said it best "Mom it looks like an abandoned zoo" how sad for the animals. :(

Steven Lebel

It's just great, still has a very family friendly place. They are always busy but never feel crowded, the layout is perfect to allow families their own little space to stop & look at the animals and go at their own speed without causing congestion and holding up others. We go most years and probably still will when they are older, 12 &14 now and they still like it.

d fall

I agree with Moriah's review but after an absence of about 5 years I was reminded of how great this place is for kids. It is clear that COVID has taken it's toll, especially with their difficulty getting help, evidenced by the number of rides that were closed. We still had a fun day and it was well worth the money. York's Wild Kingdom deserves our support.

MICHAEL DAUWER

It's still a fun place for kids and one of the biggest zoos in New England. Though it hasn't aged well. The zoo looks virtually the same as I remember it as a kid. They could use a remodel. One thing to note; the bathroom was disgusting and had a strong smell of urine.

Jon Jensen

The animals were cool however the food situation there was awful! I waited 40 minutes to place my order and 1 hour to pick up my order just to have it messed up. Other than that the staff was very friendly and nice and it was a good day.

Lizzie Duca

Supprisingly fun, unexpected treat for the family. Animals and grounds were well cared for, and plenty of opportunities to feed them yourself. You immediately get to enter a butterfly room, with all sorts of them freely flying around you. Even a tiny gatir. Did i mention ducks, so many when you walk around the pond on your way to the bigger animals. Great walk around, with different gated areas. Covid precautions on place and masks required. Only thing was our early visit, the lion and tiger were either sleeping or relaxing.. wish we knew a feeding time to watch them move more. Otherwise, a great surprise with a misleading older look outside. Check it out.

David Vela

Had a great day with the family....visiting the zoo then enjoying the rides. Although rides were more for kids we still had a great time. Would recommend this as a family event day. Bring the sun screen

sara welch

Valuable. Perfect for 1-7 years old range. Enjoy the Zoo and rides on the same day! All the rides are pretty old but enjoyable. Go Kart is my favorite.

Wanda Landry

This zoo is a lot bigger than expected. They had a good variety of exotic animals. Mostly monkeys and birds. The butterfly exhibit was wonderful. The gift shop prices were much lower than other zoos I've been to. There is also an amusement park with several rides for kids. A great place for birthdays etc. It did seem like a very old place but it is worth it. Food was typical fair/carnival food and price. A must see in Maine.

Christopher

Nice spot to hang for few hours. Good amount of animals and feeding areas. Great price too. Covid of course got a few things closed but still good time

Carmen Harlos

Cute little zoo, especially for young kids. The butterfly garden is absolutely beautiful

MBM

I got talked into going here with a group of people trying to entertain kids for the afternoon. I'm embarrassed I did. It's a total $h!t hole. I felt horrible supporting the place. It looks like a run down carnival with zero educational value. If you can judge how they treat the animals by the condition of the park you can see, then they like most of these private for-profit zoos should be closed. I tried to have an open mind but seriously... It resembles a junk yard. It doesn't look like anything has been spent in upgrades in decades. I'm a worse person for having gone.

Ceil T

Perfect for kids 3-10 years old. Small but well maintained. Animals very close up vs a big zoo. Informed employees to answer questions. Old fashioned carnival rides for the kids.

Stephanie Baker

We had fun but if you've ever wanted to know what it's like to walk around a Slasher film set during the day, this is the place to go!

John Stone

Nice zoo, but due to money issues / understaffing part of the amusement park for kids is closed. Also the butteryfly kingdom has a small amount of butterflies, 2 years ago it was full of them. Also some cages are empty and part of the park is overgrown. Loved feeding the deer, goats, and ducks though! The petting zoo was cool too.

Cassie Stelmach

Price is reasonable and the kids enjoyed themselves. It took us about two hours to see all the animals we did not do any rides. Make sure to bring quarters for feeding thr ducks and animals.

Miles Fidelman

Expected a chintsy tourist trap... instead found a huge place, interesting animals, healthy, well cared for. Great fun. The amusement rides were in bad shape, but that's not really the point of a zoo. Well worth the stop, if you're in the area - might be a nice day trip (we were up from MA, for lobster pie at the Maine Diner in Welles - stopped at York's on the drive back. And they have not one, but two Capybaras! (Our favorite rodent of unusual size. Also some really cute Prarie Dogs.)

Sam Ann

Lots of fun, my daughter loved it! A few empty exhibits but overall the animals were very responsive and friendly.

Alyssa Thayer

Worst place ever. Dying park just trying to make money until all the animals die off. Almost half the place is empty. Empty exhibits, nothing working. Everyone was shocked about how horrible this place is but they refused refunds. Animals are not cared for. Cages are so small. Animals are left to die. How do we get this place shut down?

Ami Marshall

Zoo is on the small side, saw everything within an bour. Also the exhibits are really small, can't help but feel bad for the animals. They all looked pretty miserable. Its basically a road side tourist attraction in it for the money and not animal well being. The food took forever but was decent and to be expected at the price point.

Kayli Green

I don’t know where to even start.. I guess with super disappointed. I drove an hour and a half to bring my kids here, and could not believe the cost to get in for what we saw, this place should look a heck of a lot better for the money they are raking in!!! The food is disgusting and way overpriced, so eat before you go. There were tons of goats, tons of birds, and all of the enclosures looked way too small. We bought 20 tokens for our kids to go on rides, little did we know, half of the rides were either shut down or abandoned or looked like they were going to fall apart, so we ended up giving the rest of our tokens away and just left. It was just super run down. We totally regret the trip, and I feel bad for al of the animals that are in there.

Madison Hayden

The Zoo is doing a wonderful job compensating for the employee shortage. The amusement side isn't worth it in my opinion. Beach entrance closed.

Karen Gilbert

Probably good for kids because of the rides. As someone who's been to a lot of zoos this one was a little underwhelming. Not as many animals as I'm used to. The lion and tigers were cool. I wouldn't go back, but I'm sure it's a great place for kids.

Burton Tim

The animals were awesome to see for only $14.75 a person adult is a great price.. it is very big and keeps going farther back than you would expect. Worth it. The rides were okay but everyone seemed to have a good time except the 5 go karts aren't that great but oh well. Definitely enjoyed going

Jayda Fleury

Very cool place for kids. My granddaughter loved it.

Ben Pepper

The zoo was cramped as far as the walkways and the lines for the limited food locations were nuts. $45 for 3 adults isn't bad but I like dew haven zoo better.

Daniel Boyd

I have 2 year old kids and they had a blast! Lots of fun rides for their age plus a zoo where they get to meet a variety of animals. Highly recommended for families

Sam Come

So they still charged our family full prize, most animals are gone. The death of the white bangle, is sad but I have been going there before the elephant died. It feels like a bird show with no more shows no tigers, no paddle boats, but will still charge you full prize when offering nothing else, I feel like they are giving up. Letting the place go. And that's what upsets me the most. The community needs to come together to save it.

Clare V

My grandchildren really loved the rides because they were not you typical amusement park rides with all of the "flash and dash". They were reminiscent of the rides I enjoyed as a child myself. The flexibility of being able to ride whatever, whenever, and how many times for the price is phenomenal!!!

Charlotte Cherry

I like this zoo a lot. However, I feel like the owners do not care about the animals. Today we saw the tiger and it looked sick and hurt. It had a hard time getting up, it was limping, and it kept moaning like it was in pain. My girlfriend asked one of the workers and the worker immediately yelled at her and told her to wear a mask and then talk to her. My girlfriend mentioned the tiger looks sick and she just walked away and said "I ll look" and she looked for like 5 seconds and walked away. We mentioned it to the other worker and she said "I ll talk to my manager". I believe the workers do not care for the animals.

Ima Geek

Most of the rides are shut down, the arcade was a complete disaster, and wasn't many interesting animals.

Donnajeanne Longo

The zoo has an impressive variety of animals ranging from tortoise to tiger, knowledgeable and kind zookeepers/staff, and clean, well-maintained grounds. Not overwhelming in size, it’s perfect for about a relaxed three-hour trip. The rides weren’t open yet because our trip was on a weekday still in the pre-season, but they looked fun for children. I’d highly recommend!

Margarette Frazier

Our toddlers had a great time. I felt like there weren't many animals. But they enjoyed their day so I'll give it four stars.

Karen Ryan

Fantastic fun. We only visited the zoo the day we visited, because the kids are too small for most rides, but the animals were quite visible, and the interactive exhibits were great fun. Big hits were the alligators, the deer, pea fowl, and ground hogs. Most memorable event was the paddle boats, but fair warning, the boats are always wet/flooded, so dress appropriately.

Chika Ugwuodo

So many unbelievably adorable animals. Loved every inch of the experience. Go karting was fun too!

Dora Gates

It was the worst ever I wouldn't tell anyone to take their kids there. Hardle any animals. No elephant no tiger. No bear monkeys like no tomorrow . it should be shut down .!!!!!

Brandi Wilson

Animals were all very active towards there care takers and in GREAT condition. Park has slowed down over the years but it's still a great visit. Keep up the great work!

Francis Kinney

More beautiful animals than i anticipated.spent a couple of hours there.

Turd Furgison

Seems like the animals all get good care just wish they have bigger cages and more natural looking habitats. The kids part is really fun all the staff were great with kids. They all let my daughter rise stuff longer than she was suppose to because the park was dead

Birgit E

It's not a must see, but when you're in the area, and desperately want to see a white tiger, go for it. The animals and exhibits are actually nice, but the crowd of visitors was quite disturbing. There were several people smoking inside the zoo, right next to the petting zoo, and the no smoking signs. The attractions are all kind of old, but a toddler will have an amazing time, for $5.

woodcharli

Always a great day spent here! I'd encourage people to go. Awesome display of many types of animals, well taken care of. Small places like this were hit exceptionally hard by Covid. Show your support and bring the family out for a day, the Animals are ready and waiting :)

Allison Connolly

Zoo is bigger than you would think. They are looking for more help with staffing if you are a local who needs a job. Only 8 rides open on the amusement park side today.

Austin Merullo

The Zoo is ok, the kids really enjoy feeding the animals. Many of the rides are old and not very appealing to look at but we aren't that picky. Great spot for family to meet half way between western Me. and the Boston area. The nice part is you can walk out the back entrance right to York Beach, Restaurants, shops, and a big arcade. It was a good spot for a fun family day.

Lisa Kelley

We had fun, lots of animals to see here.

C T

I've gone several times with my kids when we need to pass the time but this zoo and amusement park needs desperately to be updated. Everything is getting very run down. The animal cages looks clean to me and there were several staff members tending to them which was positive. The staff was very friendly - even the folks tending to the rides. My kids had a great time. I just an amazed at how shabby everything looks. I hope someone spruces the pace up soon.

Lindsay Santamore

Had a good time. The only bummer was they put a few animals back in their homes before 5. So we didnt get to see them because it was almost 5 by time we got to that section. Maybe 445 450 so it was the very end of day.

Erica Soiett

If you go in with low expectations, it's not too bad of a visit. Even as a kid back in the 80's this place felt run down. The road into the park is a little bizarre. While there are fun facts about different animals, there's lot of old and abandoned vehicles along the roadsides. Once at the actual park, you park in a field. We went the day after some heavy rains and parked in mud and puddles (obviously the rain is no fault or control of the park, but perhaps some gravel or asphalt could help the situation). One of the first things you see after getting through the gate for the zoo, were camel rides for an additional $7.00. I'm not sure the entire "ride" lasted a full 60 seconds. The zoo was worn and unkept. Lots of overgrown weeds, shrubs, trees, ect. The paved walkways had seen way better days. The payment was broken, cracked, uneven, ect. We stopped for slushies before leaving the zoo. There were two windows open, one for ordering, and one for pick up. But there were no signs to direct people on what line to be in. My 10 year old had a great time and at the end of the day, that's all that mattered. (We did the zoo only, not the rides)

Black Swan

A pretty sad place honestly. There were very few rides up and operating. The animals did look decently taken care of but I did not feel safe with my children without my husband there. Everything looked very worn down and broken. Some of the workers seemed pretty 'out of it' when they were operating the rides. We had to yell to get them to stop the ride because they were so zoned out. Over priced

Nice park with many beautiful animals! The animals are generally rather close to the viewing areas so you can really enjoy watching them. There's also a really cool spot of the park where fallow deer can come right up to you and eat out of your hands!

Customer service at ticket counter is poor, people that qualify for military and veteran discounts, disabled veterans with disabilities are forced to go to a separate building and walk up a flight of stairs (keep in mind the disability factor) to verify military service just to come back down to the ticket counter building to get access to the park. The park is sub par but is good for the kids.

Nicely laid out, very family oriented. I enjoyed all the different species of the Wild Kingdom and the butterfly garden was special. Rides for children and food and refreshments, also had a gift shop. I enjoyed my time there with my family, I would return to spend the day again. Best of all parking was free.

After looking at reviews my family and u were not going to go but after deciding to go anyways I'm glad we did it's a very nice place. The animals looked healthy and the staff was very nice. The place does need some TLC but it is very clean and spaced out nicely. They have something for everybody there. I personally liked the deer petting area and the ducks. They eat right out of your hand. I will definitely recommend this place and look forward to going back.

Very run down, dirty - in serious need of upgrades and over all maintenance... Absolute shame how this place looks compared to what it used to be.

Looking a little dated but perfect for a cloudy day by the beach!

We went back a few years ago and it hasn't changed at all the animals just looked depressed and it seems like the animals could of use a friend they were all alone and some of the exhibits looked run down there really wasn't anything wild about it but from a kid aspect it's neat I guess

Great parts to this place and friendly people. However it needs cleaning big time. Habitats should looked kept up and certain areas should not smell so bad when properly cleaned. Staff more for cleaning and maintenance.

Lots of area not opened due to the virus and lack of workers I suspect. I will give it another try when things get back to "normal"

Had to visit Yorks magic Kingdom when visiting York but felt sad for this place. I think the pandemic has really hit this place hard. Most rides closed. Workers were nice and there is good potential there. Rides and zoo are on the old side. You feel like you are taking a ride back in time. Rides range from $2-4 per ride. Most games and food stands closed.

Amazing place with lots of animal. My family enjoy their time.

Very disappointed with the whole park! Spent too much money just to see the grass overgrown all over including in exhibits, half of the animals were gone just down right waste of money. The amusement park was even worse, there is 5ish rides no games other then darts. I know staffing is a issue but this place just needs to close and revamp what they do have! Good luck ywk!

I had a WONDERFUL experience at this Zoo! The animals were beautiful and sparked a joy in me I haven’t experience with human life. I truly had an enjoyable day at this Zoo. The staff was friendly, the food was good and the sights were pleasurable. I would absolutely recommend this zoo for a date, a family affair or a day with a friend!

Great interactions with animals at the zoo and they are all so friendly.
