We have the information of real people like you who used the services and products of Ambassador Bridge (Zoo) in the territory of West Nipissing (Canada).
At the present this firm gets a rating of 3.6 out of 5 and the score is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an feddbacks average is very high, and it's based on a large number of reviews, so we can think that the valuation is quite credible. If many people have bothered to give their review when they've done well, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to set scores when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Zoo is included in the category of Bridge.
It’s a bridge lol but they have improved the quality of it compared to a few years ago. They continue to improve it to help with traffic flow. Only downfall would be the trucks. They can truly cause a massive jam.
Unfortunately I live in Windsor so I'm forced to cross here when I need to go to Detroit for work. This has to be the worst international border crossing in the country. I wish I could reroute to blue water. Every day trucks are lined up across the bridge and down the highway on both sides. If one side is clear the other side is awful. It's almost like clockwork how they rotate back and forth. They've been debating a new bridge for a decade now. Both cities have all the highway work done and now we just sit and wait while they fight with greed monger Matt Moron over building a new one. My suggestion is if you can avoid crossing here do it at all costs. I would suggest the tunnel but that's falling apart piece by piece with no real repairs being done.
The Bridge Company has all sorts of signs up right now complaining that the Canadian side of the bridge won't open the extra booths that I've been recently constructed. Meanwhile they don't do anything to prevent cars from traveling in the truck lane and cutting the queue while I wait patiently in the proper lane and find myself late for work. The American side frequently has only a couple lanes open and traffic backed up all the way to Canada, but I don't see the bridge company with any sort of signs telling us to call the American government and complain about the delays. If the bridge company wants to get Canadian Travelers on their side they should probably control traffic better and put the same pressure on the American side to process travellers faster.
Really nice views from the bridge of both Wonder and Detroit. Tolls take a lot of time sometimes but if you have nexus then you don't need to worrry. Definitely fill up gas at duty free before crossing the border.
GREAT PLACE TO BRING YOUR FAMILY, SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY!!!!!!
Driving across the Ambassador Bridge is quick. ONe has to remember that the reason for Detroit's location (d'etroit or narrow in French) was that it was the narrowest place to cross the Great Lakes, therefore it's an historic location and was settled in the early 1600's by the French. The bridge is not spectacular, but it is a fast way to get across the river and less claustrophobic than the tunnel.
Parked near the base of the bridge and enjoyed the lights and sights at night with a friend. 'murica side... pardon.
The tolls are higher than the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. The U.S. exit side is a little confusing to follow the lanes up to the toll booths. The Canadian side was a driving free-for-all on the approach to, and leaving, the customs area.
They can't get that new bridge built soon enough.
Started its construction on Aug. 16, 1927 and opened to traffic on Nov. 15, 1929, this world largest tolled international suspension bridge links over the Detroit River the ciities of Detroit in Michigan (USA) and the Windsor in Ontario (Ca). It is the busiest international border crossing in North America in terms of trade volume, carrying more than 25% of all merchandise trade between the USA & Canada.
Beautiful views over the Lake St Clair and the Detroit skyline. We crossed a fee times with our rental car and didn't have any problem at all neither have to queue for longer than 10 minutes. Toll is CAD6.25 (USD5.00)
They just built a huge new skatepark and its by the water so you won't sweat like crazy when the suns out & there's a basketball court nearby as well as a pavilion. Looks amazing you definitely need to check it out! New and improved.
We crossed it around Dec 5th or so, going to the US was smooth coming back to Canada was smooth. There is construction so drive with patience
Well the half hour delay getting to the bridge because of construction wasn't bad enough. The hour and a half at customs sucked due to mechanical issues with their radiation detection system going off at all truck lanes. Other than that good as usual.
Its better in terms of having many windows operating and the officers are nicer, so we all move faster...even though Sarnia border used to be slower, now its faster than Detroit border
It is an amazing place. This place has a lot of potential to be a great visiting place. But for that, it has to be uplifted.
Very good place for spending free time near it . There is also an big park under it .
The signs telling drivers where to be are garbage. Always have non-ambassador bridge card holders blocking the lanes, and there are no signs/personnel to prevent trucks from clogging the car lane. I hate commuting on this bridge and it is clearly poorly managed and poorly kept. Looks like the worst part of detroit.
An appropriate place for a bridge for sure. As with any of these bridges from Canada to US, they take forever due to traffic. However, it beats having to use a ferry.
When we lived in Sterling Heights, Michigan, we frequently crossed the Detroit River over the Ambassador Bridge on the way to Amherstburg, Ontario. The view was fantastic. My wife's grandparents owned a 100 acre farm on the 3rd Concession, just outside of Amherstburg. The entire family would gather at the farmhouse to visit the grandparents on holidays. We never had any problems crossing the bridge, although at busy times on the weekends, there were significant delays. The bridge attendants were always very courteous as they did their jobs.
Beautiful place to just sit in your car and watch traffic.
The Ambassador Bridge is absolutely gorgeous. I love to get close to it to visit. I keep applying to the construction crew dreaming to become an employer.
The personnel at both Duty Free outlets are helpful and welcoming. At American Duty Free they offer a free coffee and sandwich for Truckers. Just go to the coffee-sandwich Shop inside the building and help yourself - it's on the "honour system". Enjoy, you hard working truckers...you deserve it!
Awesome thing to experience
It was great spectacular views the city is doing a great job add moving forward with renovations good work city employees!!!
Plan 15 to 45 mins ahead when crossing
Most unfriendly guards on both sides...always slow getting cleared
It's a border crossing just like any other, busy and often long wait times, but the view from the bridge is nice
Fast crossing at midnight!
This is the most convenient way to cross US - Canada border especially if your staying close to Detroit. Especially for Ontario residents for example Toronto, the route 401 saves a lot of time instead of going around Lake Erie. We have gone this way many a times to visit Niagara / Toronto and usually takes around 4 hours from Detroit. Traffic can be bad at times but roads are nice.
Still under construction, very slow
Terrible bridge. Makes hundreds of millions a year and they cant repair it. Always backed up because lanes are closed for no reason at all. Ive waited to cross this bridge for hours because as a truck driver i had no option. Would choose the tunnel any day.
If you travel a lot you know it takes a while to cross this bridge, but the border guys are very professional and helpful
Great place to cross
It's a big bridge that needs a lot of work lol. Connects Canada to the USA. Not the best bridge in the world by any means, but pretty good for pictures if you're a photographer. Gets boring quick tho :(
I never get tired of looking at that bridge
Best border to cross canada/ USA
The good thing is that there's no toll for now and there's hardly any traffic. The bad thing is it's under construction! I have a fear of heights but I'm fine if I'm not close to the edge and I don't look. Right now you have to drive close to the edge and there's only a small railing and I couldn't help but to see from my peripheral vision. OMG I didn't think I was going to make it across! I'll pay and take the tunnel until the construction is finished.
The Bridge of Death over the river. More construction/rehabilitation. Can't wait for the new bridge to open up.
You can literally watch as pieces of concrete break away and fall onto cars below. It’s a miracle this bridge still stands, let alone transports vehicles.
Structurally amazing! Traffic was so bad I got to study it for 1.5 hrs! No more Sunday evening crossings for me
Great to see when looking for something to do
One of the coolest parts of growing up in Michigan is that Ontario was right next door. This bridge allowed me and many others to grow up thinking about the bigger picture.
The ambassador bridge is the gateway from Detroit to Windsor. Very cool to see in person!
So complicated as a trucker, its so confusing to get out if you have agriculture and fda product, cant say all of them but few people i found out really rude no respect to other humans they act like a God. I prefer sarnia border as compared to ambassador
A live view of the bridge is always available on the internet, just Google ambassador bridge live cameras and you won't end up going at a busy time. There is always a traffic worker outside to help point you in the right direction. Toll is 5 USD or 6.25 CAD. Bridge brings you right to freeways on US side or to mexican village right down the road from the bridge. Great place to cross into Canada or America.
Total harassment in the name of checking!!
Made the mistake of taking the wrong exit.. went in to get a turn around pass and had to wait 30 minutes. Friendly service there but the wait was a little long. I know it's not actually the store but who do I give 1 star to? Tell me and I'll take back 3 stars, give you 5 and them 1. Not like it matters.. it's really my fault but, be warned people who take the wrong exit.. I hear it could have taken as long as over an hour.. I guess I got lucky
A little too much rust for comfort
My husband and I crossed this bridge, returning to the US from Canada. Have your passports ready, and pay attention to the signs because the area is a bit confusing.
What a spectacular architectural work, it has a beautiful panoramic view where it combines the natural with the modern, and where it unites our two brother countries.
Bridge looks like it's falling apart, they constantly change the lanes with cones with almost no warning. Hopefully they get that new bridge up that I've been hearing about
I loved seeing the bribge its so cool makes me really. Want to go to Canada. Many just to cross the bribge. My daughter has never been and we are goung before she goes to college.
10 minute wait, border guard was very helpful!!
Shes a beaut' but shes getting old
Was stuck on the bridge for 30 mins due to an accident in the opposing lane only to get "flagged" for a random check coming back into Michigan. I pulled all my family out of the car at 1:30am walked inside they removed an orange sticker off my paperwork and back in the car by 1:32am....some check
If you're a trucker avoid this border if at all possible. They sent me to x-ray. Took over 2 hours! They don't care about our time and its a disgrace!
It’s too expensive to across the bridge. I would recommend use tunnel. Tunnel is cheaper. Bridge been fixing for a long time. One lane with many trucks how’s frustrating long waiting in the line ever at late evening not weekend or holiday. We didn’t like the bridge. We like tunnel.
Can't wait to they finish up the area. In I hope ppl don't mass it up down there because it's a really nice place for the kids to go have fun. In a great spot to fish ???? at
Decrepid bridge, Im always afraid its going to crumble when Im stuck at the top and swaying. Nice views though.
Ver y beautiful view in the middle of USA and Canada
The commercial side can be busy on the average day
Tried to get in, wouldn't let me in :(
Usually busy with truck traffic but it goes by quick
Very busy. Roads on bridge are poorly maintained may be because it's very busy. U will have an amazing view from here.
Lots of construction coming into ????????. Bridge is outdated.
This bridge still makes me nervous crossing it. I truely do not believe that they should be allowing as many trucks and cars lined up over it bumper to bumper. Weight limits are my concern. Considering the age and degrading metal condition.
The Ambassador Bridge was a great piece of modern infrastructure 70 yrs ago. This antiquated bridge is in constant never ending repair and back ups are the norm. Michigan needs to man up and pay for their half of the new bridge and road ways to it, instead of letting their pushover neighbors cover it.
Very nice view. Traffic is pretty slow, so you can have a chance to look around and take in the sites. Make sure you got your ID...
Very busy every time . Specifically rush hour time. 2- 8 PM. Need more lanes . Only 2 lanes are open because of construction. Big parking lot at US duty free. But liquor and other products are expensive than duty free at Port Huorn Mi.
It's a bridge....its typically in lousy shape. But it gets you across the border quickly. Always considerable amounts of traffic on it. It's the busiest border crossing in the world, mostly due to trade between Canada and the USA. I have been over this bridge thousands of times over the years as a truck driver and back when Michigan was in it's Automotive Glory days. Sadly Detroit and this bridge have seen better days. But it still is an amazing bridge when you think about how long it's lasted and the amount of traffic it's seen over the years of its existence.
Best route to get into USA from Canada, i came from Toronto
Had some overzealous 20 something a******for a Border guard. His coworker was helpful, so it would have been much worse if I had two people of the same gotta prove or provoke attitude. The signage going to the Canadian side was horrible- didn't know what lane to go into, ended up in a truck lane and the lady wasn't very happy about it so she directed me to the inspection station. I was charged $5 to cross when the sign said 3.75 or something. If I ever go over again I'll take the tunnel. It can't be much worse. Oh ya, did I mention backups and traffic jams?
Just learned the Moroun family owns America's most busiest port with Canada for years. Now the Moroun has competition coming & is trying to do everything to prevent it to no avail. Good first & last experience. The bridge is poorly maintained with long waits. I gotta pay to come home & leave my country.
Border crossing is nasty- avoid go to Blue Water Bridge- much better and quicker
The best part of Windsor. Detroit skyline and the rivr, exciting combination. All good but bridge seems too old though!
Used/visited this bridge as a trucker for cross border transportation. It's huge and an awesome structure. Due to heavy truck traffic most of the times we get long backups, but then you can enjoy the Detroit skyline and beautiful river views.
Although the bridge itself is still under construction and hopefully nearly finished the us border side remains a smooth entry with very curtious guards .
The view of downtown Detroit and Windsor from the bridge is wonderful. However, the bridge itself is in bad condition of repair. It looks much better when seen from a distance, especially at night. Didn't really like the border crossing experience, will use the tunnel next time.
The best place will be any of the public parking along the Canadian Windsor side of the river along riverside drive the are plenty Parking spaces and most of them are FREE ????????
Nothing to see here- everything is ok, please keep moving...
The bridge to USA. The Ambassador Bridge is a tolled suspension bridge across the Detroit River that connects Detroit, Michigan, United States, with Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It is the busiest international border crossing in North America in terms of trade volume, carrying more than 25% of all merchandise trade between the United States and Canada.
Traffic was good and its sounds like there might not be a strike on Monday
Pretty cool bridge but no use to anyone if you are not going to Canada.
It seems sound. It was clean. I was able to cross over the water. The travel was slow and very disorganised. Several young workers were on foot among the vehicles. While I waited in the car lane, workers directed a large tour bus to backup within inches of my small passenger car!!! I found the workers lack of professionalism and courtesy uninspiring.
For the high toll fees you pay, the toll booths and the bridge structure itself are surprisingly dilapidated. Many transponders do not work and the railings are all rusty. Now with the threat of a brand new bridge on the way, I think Moroun is finally pulling up his socks... Nonetheless, it is faster and more convenient if you want go straight onto the freeway/highway...
Beautiful bridge. Best view at sunset ????
There is a lot of construction ongoing to bring the bridge back to original condition which can sometimes have a negative affect on lanes open and traffic flow. Traffic is worse during rush hour times as expected but generally is acceptable. The recently lowered toll price compared to the tunnel makes crossing here a smart option.
This bridge makes so much money but they don’t do proper maintenance! Since I have been travelling At least past 10 years they have tow or three people doing maintenance .... the amount of traffic cross everyday they really needs to speed up the maintenance.
Beautiful, it was so nice to be in home waters after traveling 4,500 miles on our boat. Michigan, no place as Beautiful.
I was driving back from Toronto after a long day and as I am being questioned i get asked if your license says Michigan why is the car registered in Hawaii. I processed to tell him I was in the Marines and in the process of getting out. After we play 20 questions her then goes through and checks my car to find nothing and more questions follow. The Canada side was way easier and actually nicer about me having a Hawaii registration once I said I was a Marine.
Help is on the way. 2024 Gordie Howe International Bridge. Towers are already 200 foot tall, on both sides, up river from Rouge, near Fort Wayne.
I think that this bridge is okay, but I would like to see change. I hear that I new bridge is being installed south of this one (and connecting to the freeway system on both sides?). Hopefully they will do it right this time.
Nice view of Ambassador bridge from Detroit river walk. The bridge links Detroit, USA and Windsor, Canada.
Still slow construction on the bridge, bridge employees trying to direct traffic make it worse. Worst crossing point I've had to use and avoid it every chance I get.
Nice view from Detroit Riverfront. Bridge connects Canada to US.
Oh where do I start. The last time I was there, it was a 1 HOUR WAIT from the USA to Canada since there were transport trucks. I highly recommend the tunnel instead, it is faster and cheaper than the bridge.
Well it didn’t collapse so that’s good.
Nice view but getting busier this winter
Very aged. Needs replacement badly. Canadian side approach has potholes and rough road. American side an obstacle course that if Corona virus restrictions were not in place. Backups would be intolerable.
I wish the people at the booth were little more friendly, but overall fairly quick and little fuss to get crossed with my CMV to deliver. Dissappointed the Duty Free warehouse wasn't open when I went through... next time
Wish I could give a negative rating. Things constantly under construction but never gets in better shape. Customs is slow and very rude.
Beautiful views but a long long long wait! Customs was efficient
What a great improvement for Det.
Test the strength of your car suspension and get that pesky roundness out of your rims! Coming soon, more holes in the bridge deck! ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION BUT NEVER FIXED!
Construction and lane closing drives me crazy
Construction going on for over 2 years now. All I see is Red carrots placed up there blocking lanes. Haven’t seen a single worker working up there. If you know swimming you can cross border faster.
Hope one day they finish construction. Dream about it.
Come let's believe how they are friendly. There was helping me like part of the family at the time. They are the one who have to make it hard as usual. I mean another places. Good people
Another crossing lacking in direction flow flexibility staff tries but they need another bridge one for each direction of travel more booths for trucks would definitely help aswell
Backed up
Ridiculous construction lanes; time consuming to cross.
I came to read their request for many permits and permission from Canadian and US government regarding the bridge. I have serious concerns regarding this bridge owners and operators. They are unprofessional and non-courteous. They talk rude and i hate to say They dont even have badge or ID card to identify who they are and who they are collecting money for. They force to pay in cash and never provided me receipt. Up on asking for receipt they gave me wrong receipt. Receipt they gave me was from earlier sift so employee number dont get recognize. I warn them i will complain about this behaviour. Answer from employee was they dont care. I do care and I love to say I will never use this bridge again in my life. I will support new bridge funded by Canadians from bottom of my heart. I have send my feed back to canadian and US departments. This is third time i have bad and worst experience and now i am telling every one about my experience.I do support new bridge.
Nice place to visit.
I wasn't exactly on the bridge actually under the bridge at the beautiful wonderful Park along the beautiful Detroit River Walk downtown Detroit wonderful scenery never been there before and lived in Detroit 42 years of my whole life but everyday is a new experience every day is a learning day never say never.
An unpredictable bottleneck that is continually under construction. ( Not just years; I mean decades). Otherwise, nice viewing of the region while you wait, read emails or post reviews such as this. Note: There are lot's of trucks on the bridge. There are no trucks in the tunnel.
I cross this bridge twice a day, five days a week (sometimes 4x a day on Friday.) The bridge staff usually do a pretty good job of clearing backlogs of traffic when it gets bad. Lots of construction on the bridge, which doesn't help the high volumes of vehicles. ...but a necessary evil. Wed / Thu mornings seem to be busiest for truck traffic (I usually cross to USA between 2:30-3:30am, and back to Canada between 4-5am.) I wish CBSA would open an extra 1-2 booths on those busy mornings, as needed.
Bridge connected the U.S. to Canada. Made my first trip across into Canada a few days ago. The weather was perfect.
love to crossing this bridge...
The bridge itself is currently a mess, under construction. Be careful when crossing, going either direction!!
Canadian duty free much better than US one; for choice and size.
Left for decades without maintenance. Now patch work causes major delays on border crossing. At this time, 2 lanes out of 4. 1 inbound and 1 outbound. Busiest border between Canada and US. Sad..
Great view of both the cities. I used to take the tunnel exclusively, but have found the wait times at customs for both the US and Canada points of entry to be better at the bridge.
Always busy with trucks and construction. It is nice that toll is currently free for essential workers.
It's a bridge crossing a border. It is crowded. But it has nice views.
Bridge constantly suffers from potholes. They've started fixing the rails that kept falling onto the ground but this causes different lane changes/closures all the time. Biggest peeve is the toll collectors' machines freezing and having to be reset. Clear sign that upgrades are not a priority.
????????????JUST A NORMAL BRIDGE NOTHING SPECIAL ????????????
Always under construction. ????
It's really pretty and relaxing. Especially with the new skate park feet away. I plan on going back very soon. There were even ppl right under the bridge doing a photoshoot.
World class park just remember to bring your qph24 space modulator.
It's a good way to get across the river between two countries and go through customs on either side of the border. When you're on top there's a great view of both downtown Windsor, Ontario, Canada and Detroit, Michigan, United States.
The fastest border to US,and very fast in Customs ways
Welcome to the busiest crossing in North America between the good old USA and Canada. Built in the early part of the last century it certainly looks like it despite the successful attempts to constantly have it under construction it never seems to have made it completely into this century. It's pretty to look at from afar but I haven't been able to cross it without lane closures in as long as I can remember. The construction cones are always out but like your uncle Bob's shed the projects never seem to get finished. The tolls are reasonable and the customs wait times usually aren't too bad. The highway access at both sides is pretty decent too so it's the preferred crossing.
There is work being done on the bridge so hopefully it will be great soon. As of now the rails are rusty and there are holes that you can see down to the ground on it. Im not sure what more to say. Its an international toll bridge with security and a duty free shop as well as public restrooms
Been working on the new park, everything is looking great
Beautiful, Clear View of two Beautiful Cities!!!
One of many place to visit when you want to to by the water
POV: You’re on a road trip to Canada and this is the nearest border crossing It’s not too hard, just hand over your passport and answer some questions (Do you have a gun, were you a criminal, etc etc)
Not well maintained. Rough bridge deck. At least they're in the process of repairing the bridge, but seems too little, too late with the new Gordie Howe bridge on the horizon.
Usually a very Long wait. To Cross the Bridge But , today No wait Boarders open
More expensive than the tunnel, much slower than the tunnel, much sketchyer, car lanes are too narrow because the pilons take up a good portion of your lane, and if you pay attention to the fence (especially on the US side) it's rusted all the way through with most chunks of the siding just fallen off or something. I'm glad it's at least an alternative to the tunnel; can't wait for the Gorden Howie bridge coming soon.
north America's busiest border crossing. also ongoing construction to bridge narrowed to 1 lane both ways causes delays in rush hours. expect on average of 1 hr to cross in rush hour. 3 hours if you have to dock. waiting room often crowded and plenty of non maskers to invade your space (truck drivers not cbp) xray line ups often take an hour extra as well.
This is a pretty neat bridge! Quite the engineering marvel, that's for sure. Spanning across the Detroit River, the Ambassador Bridge links the major …
This bridge is an absolute embarrasment. For being one of the busiest in North America, the upkeep is non-existent - and when entering the US and going from customs to the toll booths is always a delay. Maroun is a scumbag and will neve fix anything.
71/2 hrs to cross back to Canada because rule to work order for custom officers. I can understand them but who will understand us as truck drivers. This is big threat to my livelihood. Hope it will be solved sooner than later.
From the look of the bridge it look very safe
Get ready for long delays. This bridge is too old and was left to deteriorate for far too many years. Now they're trying to fix what should have been taken care of decades ago. There is always Lane restrictions and backed up traffic. The restrooms in duty-free are disgusting. You can tell this bridge is only been a cash grab all these years. They're only putting money into it now to compete with the new bridge that's coming
You have to 2-3 hours to cross this bridge
I've used this bridge number of times, haven't had any issues with Patrol officers crossing to Detroit. Almost 9/10 times, I had a positive customs experience... officers were professional and nice. Wait time seems to be an issue on rush hours but it's alright on regular times. Sure, It's not the nicest bridge out there but pretty handy when crossing to Detroit.
Got lost due to road closures. Thanks to the Border patrol security for helping me out on 6-19-21 at 4:30 a.m.
This bridge is not only an impressive building but easy to pass, too. On the Canadian side, we had an encounter with extremely friendly and easy-going customs officers. Best regards from Germany!
It is perfect spot to spend sunset time near Ambassador Bridge and Riverside trail
Just a normal usa-canada bridge
Neat attraction to see when traveling.
The way they treat me when I come back to the U.S the Bridge security needs to do better and drop the attitude only a few of them have that attitude !
I sell Lemonade over by the park next to the bridge. So it's always a great experience.
Its a big bridge.. an American bridge.. and it is also a boarder crossing from Windsor, Canada to Detroit, USA.. fun to look at.. and always busy!
Omg massive lines mainly trucks but only one lane on bridge slowed everything down.
If you can make it across the Ambassador Bridge, Congratulations!:) You have just passed the INSANITY test! If you wish to attempt the daring cross over please remember: 1. Have plenty of gas in your car. 2. Bring food and water because it's very likely you won't be having any for hours! 3. If you are scared of heights, try to ignore the rust and deterioration. 4. The toll fee is only a GUARANTEE that you will choose the slowest lane on the bridge possible. It may even be suddenly subject to CLOSURE. 5. Keep your cool even though, "Are we there yet?" and "How much longer?!" will be the main discussion in your car group. 6.Your backside, right foot, and possibly other body parts will be NUMB by the time you see the opposite side. 7. Warning! When meeting customs, be prepared to confess EVERYTHING, even if it was in your childhood. Enjoy and be safe!:)
Customs on American side was respectful yet thorough. Flowed through quickly without to much delay. Both Canadian side and American side have always looked disgusting. I will be glad when the new bridges are complete.
When I was growing up in New England my family and I would come to Detroit to visit family and would cross the Bridge. Lots of great memories. Crossed more than 200 times????
No wait and nice view over the bridge ????
Driving across the Ambassador Bridge is quick. ONe has to remember that the reason for Detroit's location (d'etroit or narrow in French) was that it was the narrowest place to cross the Great Lakes, therefore it's an historic location and was settled in the early 1600's by the French. The bridge is not spectacular, but it is a fast way to get across the river and less claustrophobic than the tunnel.
3 stars as the bridge is undergoing construction for the past 1 1/2 years. Bridge should've been kept up before letting it go this bad. Travelers needs to be patient...they're doing an excellent job as they're going right to the skeleton of the bridge, replacing the odd beam.
The busiest land crossing between the two neighbours needs to be maintained better. And it is high time we had another bridge to take care of the rush.
24/7- 365 Under Construction
Of all the Michigan to Ontario crossings this is the one I recommend you stay clear of. Consistently the rudest service, and highest cost. And the owner had spent a fortune fighting against the building of another bridge in the area. Drive the extra distance and cross at Port Huron/Sarnia instead.
Neverending construction. To narrow for huge traffic.
Beautiful bridge at dawn and dusk to accentuate the USA/Canadian border.
In Canada side laziest people work on customs booth take 10 minute per truck only some Officer work fast
The view from it is great but the bridge is falling apart and only 2 lanes are opened.
Beautiful Bridge. Nice view of Detroit city from top.
It's a border of us and canada
has a fear of heights so did not stay long enough to snap a pic but from a distance it is pretty.
Today July 15 at 7:40 was so terrible traffic getting so long lane waiting on half of the bridge. Until check point of USA border it took 30 mins over from the bridge.
The cost to use this bridge is stupid. I prefer to take the tunnel. I love the look of this bridge, however unfortunately the bridge company is aweful and i try not to support anything they represent. They do the bear minimum to maintain any of their properties, but expect top dollar.. I try not to support companies or people with no integrity, and who are greedy monsters. Unless avoidable I try not to take this bridge.
Nice view quiet now best place to think right now
We had my father's memorial service at Riverside Park it was beautiful! Very memorable!
The water below the bridge is so beautiful
Fuel prices are good. However, no paper towels or good wipers and fluid near dispensers. Fuel pump handles do not have a lock which is unreasonable in winter and large fill ups. The prime card saves serious money on tolls and fuel. Men's restroom is small and far from great. Duty free prices seem to be more expensive than regular stores in some items, like beer etc.
Well organized. Multiple gas pumps to fill up if in need before crossing the border from USA to Canada. Duty free shop across the pumps. Welcoming Canadian border agents. Love Canada.
Riverside park was nice by the water
Poorly constructed old bridge with barely any repair. Customs ask way too many personal questions besides the simple "Show me your passport, where are you going, what's your citizenship? etc… I don't like the stupid long delays, especially for drivers who take 10 minutes talking at the patrol booth. The toll prices keep going up. Hoping the new bridge will be much cheaper to cross and no rude patrol workers.
Free tolls across the bridge thank you. The welcome back sign was a nice touch for Canadian travellers!
Structurally sound, many trucks can cross at once. Great bridge, highly recommend. Wish I could ride it all the time, unfortunately it takes you to Canada, yucky.
Was really traffic free and easy to cross the border!
If you can avoid taking this bridge, take the tunnel instead. Instead of fixing the bridge properly the are placing a layer below the road to catch crumbling pieces of the bridge from falling onto the road below. Its just a matter of time before there is a disaster.
To much construction & it needs it. Not a good drive in a tractor trailer...
As a female traveling alone, it can be a nerve wracking experience crossing the border. I understand the need for security, but yes the staff at the bridge terminal are the worst. I was detained and my car torn apart (quite literally-the carpet was pulled up, door panels wedged open, radio console pulled apart) while I answered questions about my trip with one officer and the other FIVE stood around loudly taking about family vacations, etc. The officer I was working with then set my ID on the counter and simply said have a nice day. I went out to find my car dismantled so I stepped back inside to ask if I was supposed to wait or if I was free to go. They all just looked at me and one finally said "uhh yeah!" Getting in your car after you've just put it all back together and trying to remain calm so they don't make MORE of an example of you is a frustrating experience. Obviously they have an important job, but I was the only person pulled over at that time. I was the only person in the whole office. I think the quickest way to explain to their behavior to them is "you don't have to be such a dick." I love Canada, I love Windsor, but I will not be using this border crossing again.
Been waiting at this bridge in my semi for nearly 1 hour. Never have I seen 4 lanes open on this bridge. Repairs just never end. Its mind bogling that they won't make another crossing
Beautiful view - great people
Super dated. They really do need to start construction on a new bridge...like a.s.a.p. Not enough custom lanes open. Car vs. Truck Lanes are confusing. Sometimes the boarder patrolmen/women can be rude. Duty Free was cool. Although they could offer more options to purchase.
Little slick but plowed
I've used the Ambasador for over forty years. Lately, the state of disrepair is obvious, as is the apparent disregard shown for this major border crossing. I was indifferent about the new bridge, but now I'm supportive. Ambassador needs to clean up its act.
Fantastic place to walk around the bridge by the water. You can rent scooters and drive all the way by the Detroit lake. Very stanning and attractive. Around the park there is a lot of unique sculptures. Beautiful spot for sunset photos. The bridge is so long you can see it very far. At night it's full of lights with gorgeous sity lights around. The only minus for me is that there is no place by to buy a water or a snack.
It’s okay, the Mexico border is way more fun
Always under construction but always very beautiful views from the height
This Ambassador bridge name stands international popular the appearance of this bridge lookes beautiful.the traffic on the bridge clears easily.
The Ambassador Bridge was great, it's the Canadian officer that talked down to us that wasn't so great.
Was not busy that day. Construction on bridge will be a hassle in busy traffic.
Crossed on August 20th with my daughter to visit family in the US South. Each side was down to one lane and the side heading to Canada was backed up with trucks and cars (we took the tunnel back). Heading to the US was clear and we were the only car crossing at that time of the morning. Reminded me strongly of when the husband and I crossed on September 12, 2001 though, on that day, there were not only no cars but no trucks either. Border agent looked at our US passports, asked when we'd be going home and sent us on our way. Easy Peasy. On that day, there was no toll. The bridge is always going to be under construction. It was built in 1929 and while studies have shown that it is structurally sound (Michigan Department of Historic Preservation), it was never designed the handle the weight it does today - the truck traffic. The ideal outcome for this structure is that the company builds the second span and the existing bridge becomes a car bridge with the second span dedicated to trucks.
Very relaXing and cool, the people's was very friendly. On 7 27 21.at the Ambassador Bridge place.
If I could post every swear word imaginable on this god for saken piece of garbage establishment I would From the ridiculous timing of construction to the last minute lane changes to the 2 hour back ups ive experienced lately from the extreme expense of crossing this is probably the worst border entry there is. I strongly suggest that if you work in the US that you take the tunnel and stop lining the pockets of the crook who owns this
Right now during first week of Sep 2021, the ambassador Bridge was in construction.
Beautiful bridge, but U.S. border agents take forever. Had to wait almost 30 minutes at 5p.m. during peak traffic hours.
Too many trucks can't wait for the new bridge
I am truck driver and and cross border every week and it all way though ambassador ????
It was great going though town. It was nice in Winter so it should be awelsome the rest of the year especially SPRING,SUMMER and FALL.. Visited from Henderson Nevada.
Beautiful bridge connecting Detroit, US with Windsor, CA. Very fun experience getting to run across it for the Detroit Free Press International Marathon!
Always long delays, crazy long lines of waiting trucks, drive a car get the tunnel
ALWAYS a delay of some sort.....HATE this bridge with a passion...
Nice fishing stop...
My family and I was near the Ambassador Bridge on the Waterfront Park sitting and looking over across to Canada! I've always known that area since I was a little girl we used to call it the foot of the boulevard.
Drive steady when sliding down the bridge into States as you will encounter a twist accompanied with one squeezed lane, slow down to stay in control folks.
Falling apart, sways uncomfortably in high wind, and the lines don't mean a damn thing. I'm always worried I'm going to end up rubbing my trailer tires against one of those concrete dividers and blowing the damn thing.
Beautiful view
Long waits and in a great state of disrepair. Cones to separate lanes always all over the place. More expensive than the tunnel.
The bridge staff is usually nice. The bridge itself needs to enforce the truck lane! Could avoid major traffic delays!
Pretty obvious it's privately owned. Charge huge fees and fix the bare minimum.
Horrible wait times, they should have better markings/signage for the nexus lane when coming into Canada. So many people get into nexus lane without knowing and then when you get to the bend in the road just before customs it's all CHAOS!!
Horrible experience. 5 other cars along with myself have waited over an hour to be left off the property. Haven't bought a single thing at the duty-free & must be "escorted off the property" apparently. This shouldn't have taken any more than 10 minutes, instead it's been over an hour now. This is ridiculous. I am not taking this route again.
Will be awesome, once restoration construction is completed.
For truckers, the U.S side always flows but for some reason Canada likes to open 4 out of 15 lanes(not counting the 6 extra lanes that never saw daylight) and take their sweet time. That's entering at 5am to 6am.
A very solid bridge, undergoing some kind of repair work but still operational during the process. I got to spend a considerable amount of time with Customs personnel on both sides of the bridge, because of my inadvisable decision to cross the border without my passport (which was expired anyway). At least a body cavity search was not required for me to be released from captivity.
Nice peace of structure with a great view of both border cities as u are driving thru the suspension bridge. The 1 set back for now is the construction which restrict lanes and narrow curb
Its so Beautiful around the bridge they have made Beautiful parks under the bridge its skate park,a soccer field,a basketball court,a baseball field. There is a children playscape clean bathroom, the bathrooms are (pit latrines)..they also got a dog park..so what your wanting on,get up and go check it out.
It's a bridge. It's the busiest crossing between Canada and the United States . The bridge is too small its always under construction and its way to expensive. Lines are almost always long and getting longer
Every year a permanent repair, which has no end.
You're better off taking the tunnel on sundays. Also what is the point of having a nexus card when they close that lane frequently. The tunnel costs more but way less traffic
2019 , 2020 and now 2021 was the best time to finish construction, may be in 2025 they'll finish it
Went to the skateboard park by the bridge didn't even know it was there glad to see the city doing something for the kids. Look like they was having a good time which means I had a good time.
Always construction, total disregard for truckers time.
Ha e been crossing Ambassador bridge quite regularly for years now. The construction never ends. The pot holes have always been there on the bridge. I don't understand how after so many years of non stop construction the road surface on the bridge remains in such bad shape.
Great service great people. My favorite part is how it connects land over water.
They should just close it and fix it.. or build a new one beside it to accommodate the truck traffic load... This asshattery has been going on for years.. is the problem funds-red tape- or just plain apathy?. Anywhere else they could have built a new one in a quarter of the time it's taken to patch the ambassador.
Very nice pier. Go on a windy day and enjoy the high winds.
Considering there was a bomb scare they kept traffic moving and out of the areas in threat.
Amazing piece of engineering joining 2 countries. Views are fantastic from the bridge. Only down side is you have to pay roll every time you pass or for regular drivers you can get a pass.
A beautiful bridge between two beautiful countries taking a lot of passenger and commercial traffic. Constant improvements are resulting in constant construction work on the bridge, but all is well for a better tomorrow.
GPS led me to Canada. Not where I needed to go. Lol!
Best bridge to use during winter. In summer, I highly recommend using the Sarnia/porn Huron border crossing as you'll least likely find traffic.
Pros: excellent customs service on both sides of the border... Cons: Lanes too narrow and bridge is outliving its lifespan.
Slow and go, dont be in a rush to get to one side or the other. Leave with plenty of time to get to your destination. Took me 1 hour to make it from Winsor side to past customs.
I don't like bridges anyway. But to be fair it got me over the river. I was concerned when I saw 2 lanes clogged with heavy looking trucks but to my surprise I sailed right across. Thru customs. No issues. Since I hate the tunnel even more I guess I'll be back. Thanks to the Canadian customs agent for making things clear. I think his name was "Mumbles"
It's been under construction for past 10 years , duty-free is by far one of most expensive cross the country as a truck driver I cross borders from east coast to West and this duty free is the most expensive and not many selections
They're working on the park so a lot of construction is still going on but you can see the beauty of the vineyard coming into place the water is to die for The view it doesn't get any better mind you that still working but you can see the difference before and after with it going go take a look you have to see it to believe it
I love the view of this bridge. During the day it's always packed with semi trucks and at night it looks so pretty all like up.
Good way to go between U. S. A / Canada, but the bridge always looks rundown. I think the owner is a billionaire but doesn't seem to spend much on the bridge which doesn't leave a good impression at all.
Driving into Canada on this bridge actually feels like a fast and the furious movie. The space between you and the giant trucks are about 6 inches (in the good areas) so you have to speed up whenever possible just to make it without the bolts of their rims demolishing your car
Great skatepark and dog park. Terrible location in regards to getting there. Currently a ton of construction going on in that area which makes navigating a challenge. The park area could also use more trash cans and recycling bins.
This bridge is unique in how it looks... made it across it to Canada just fine!
Came through at 3am to avoid traffic in Detroit. They need brighter /larger signs for RV lanes. Security even welcomed us back home.
I drive under this bridge on a weekly basis and after 20 years of doing so it still hasn't fallen on me. I appreciate that.
It's Lookd Freaking Cool. But if want To just visit the Bridge thrn Be carefull with Map.First time I lost the way and Cops Got me
This is a nice bridge. I drove on this bridge while driving from Canada and was satisfied with my experience. The bridge wasn’t to busy, so I wasn’t stuck in traffic. When I got to customs, I didn’t have to wait in line for a while, which was nice. I managed to quickly get through customs. When you’re driving on this bridge, you can see a nice view of downtown Detroit. The bridge connects to I-75 and I-96, which is nice. I gave this bridge five stars because it connects to I-75 and it’s less busy than the tunnel.
It'a not a bad place,i across 4 times a week both ways, the constraction never end and i talk about 24 years.
This bridge has a lot of importance as it connects usa and canada. The view from this point is amazing
Great place to fish and chill. It is construction going on still because they're finishing the park so the bathrooms don't be open and 5hey shut down the park at 10pm, which is annoying but I guess it'll be fine after construction is done.
Most of the time it's busy and KMs lineups Try your luck at night
Need a clean up crew. All residents and non residents don't care much about the city of Detroit so they dump trash all around. What a shame, Kids can't play and adults cant enjoy the peaceful water. It appear that the city tried to create something great...
Great view over Detroit especially near sunset. The border is sometimes crowded... But the tunnel is the same. I found the bridge is better connected to the freeway on the Canadian side.
U can BBQ, swing seats 4. Clean bathrooms. Very scenic
The bridge is a mess, construction has been going on for too long
Dirt bags everyone. Very racist US border officers.
The city redid the area around the Ambassador Bridge including building a picnic area, courts, and river walk. Just hope they (citizens) respect this area and stop fixing Detroit a black eye!
I cross here all the time. Fast service and crossing. Just be honest, be transparent and follow the rules and you have nothing to worry about. Also gas is much cheaper at border.
Cross frequent. At times all lines are blocked by trucks especially later at night with NO direction or accomodations for cars to get through in a car lane. Questioning due to covid restrictions is time consuming and most times only 1 or 2 lanes open for cars. Crossing after work at midnight took 45 minutes and there were only a few cars ahead of me. Completely blocked by trucks taking up both lanes and then not enough customs officers to question cars. The construction has nothing to do with this just lack of staffing.
New skateboard Park really Nice place for a Family get together and Fishing near bye.
Bring food and water, it is going to take awhile. Glorified Paul Blart at the ticket booth I mean border crossing always has a hard-on so be ready for that. Maybe if you're lucky you'll only have to deal with Cathy the *unt. Lol these guys are a joke. Harass your innocent citizens who are harmless...why dont you all focus on real threats. What a joke. Take the tunnel. Unprofessional. I hope tub-o-lard sees this. Guy is a joke. Jealous of others who have better jobs than him. Embarrassing that this is what people see and have to deal with as they enter the USA.
Not sure why it has such bad ratings, but we got through with no wait time. I even went into the wrong lane and was able to back up to correct myself. We got some great pics and it was just a nice ride.
Sometimes v busy. Too much line up
The Canadian inspection officer was very respectful and told me that I had to self isolate for 14 days and also warned me that if I ignored the call that the government might show up at my door. The government called and told me that I cannot go outside my apt without getting a major fine if I get caught on camera. Don't want to take a chance on it.
Single Lane Traffic with 40min on the bridge alone that looks too old to use safely with no customs delays. Avoid if you cam
Busiest bridge I've seen.
Literally watch 4 or 5 guys stand around and talk/play on phones while supposedly working. This bridge was built by real man in 2 yrs. This guys couldn't build a tree fort in 2 yrs. This is the worst North American crossing. Can't wait till the new bridge is built. To be honest the US n Cdn government should have taken this bridge away the the private owner's. No private company should own a international crossing. See the picture. Workmanship at its best. Watched these guys for a hour do nothing.
Under construction. Cars and trucks force themselves into doors instead of taking turns. Bridg authorities are clueless at times.
As kids partying it was brought by friends to go there when your 19 so you can drink legally earlier. There was a choice bridge or tunnel. With a new enhanced license you don't need a passport or visa when going to many places around the US.
I've been crossing this bridge for ten years and the construction has been going on eversince. And I don't see it ending anytime soon.
Ugh. Such an old timer. Nice to see it fixed up a bit though. Can't see the River anymore through holes in the road. So that's good.
The people were friendly in the crossing was easy. No need to worry about coming into Canada or going back to the US.
We were on the river front and the police like to put you off when the lights come on. Not open at night.
During construction I never felt any traffic problems and very nice looking right and left senry , great great as per Its name ,I like Canada.......
Bring food an water, you will be here forever, and if they search your stuff, make sure they didn't break anything like they did in my car. They spent more time looking under the hood at my motor than searching my car
The construction is awful.specially for truckers. They know we work with the E-Log and our time is very important in order to arrive on time.
The bridge is very busy on weekends. Not usually horrible on weeknights. The bridge is finally getting some much needed repairs which means one lane is closed down and the remaining lanes are narrowed however they usually do a good job adjusting the lanes for the heaviest direction of traffic. The best thing about crossing the bridge for Canadian residents is the duty free gas station that is only available at this crossing. There are no attendants but if you do end up needing help they can assist you from inside the duty free store just be prepared to wait a little bit. I have found the prices to usually be cheaper than some of the local USA stations. There are lots of pumps and I have not had any line ups or waits in my experiences even when there is a wait or back up to cross the toll booths. There is a toll to pay each time you cross the bridge. $5 USD or $6.25 CAD. If you use the bridge with any regularity I would recommend getting the ambassador bridge reward card. It is a loyalty card that gets reloaded from a credit card of your choice and automatically reloads once you reach a specific balance. With the card you also receive a windshield tag that will automatically scan at the toll booths usually allowing access to shorter lines but most importantly avoiding any issue paying the toll. This card can also be used to purchase fuel at the duty free pumps and at the duty free store. When used to purchase fuel you will also receive a small discount per litre of fuel.
A prehistoric bridge! 4 lane and it's under construction. as a busiest border it should have at least 10 lane
Lovely the view, I really enjoy the ride going to Canada, the border protection people was professional and fast when coming back
You have to have a negative covid test to show within 72 hrs before crossing the boarder and download Arrivalcan app before crossing boarder also.
As best as a border crossing can be.
The worst in the world....quicker or faster for repairing is not in there vocabulary but every body knows it lol
Road are very bad poor management with poor road service, as they charge toll also. But no proper repairs ,all month construction, but in a month will break other side of road
Very nice, very scenic at night!

Not sure what I can say ...you will know when you get there. This bridge is terrible, it is litterly falling apart so it is in constant repair. It is in various states of paint colors...for years and the flickering light has been like that for as long as I can remember.
It was so beautiful and nice. The people were amazing and great music. All different walks of life just chilling together. However to get there is dangerous. Big potholes everywhere coming into the parking lot.
This is the worst. The owners keep this bridge in a terrible state. Covered in potholes and steel plates. Lane reductions are the norm. And 6.25CND or 5USD everytime you cross?!?! Can't wait for another bridge to be completed!
Very nice bridge. It is connecting canada to America.
This bridge has been under construction for what seems like half a millenia. I would rate it better when I can drive without feeling like trucks are going to hit my car.
Its nice under the bridge in certain areas....we went closer to down town to the park....it was really nice.
This bridge has been under construction for years. The lanes coming across to Canada are very narrow, so take extreme caution!
Well, it's better than it has been in the last twenty years, but it still has a lot of rough spots. The bridge gets three stars, I guess, but customs only gets one! HA!
Crossing the border through the bridge twice in a week.... Most busiest border... Don't understand why can't they finish bridge work faster... This work is going on since last few years LOL
Rusting hulk. Long overdue for repairs 4 foot railings being replaced by 2 and 3 footers. How does that happen ? Under constant " repair" for past decade . An important international crossing in the hands of a private individual -. Should never happen
Needs major repairs.. lanes are always changing and it's hard to navigate through the lanes and booths. Looking forward to the new Canadian bridge being built!
Nice Store. Bargain whse was okay. Please be advised to wear reflective colors in truck parking lots. Drivers flying thru. Very sad as professionals they need to SLOW DOWN.
Busy busy. Alway improving thru extensive construction.
always construction. barely room for trucks to travel on it. the customs are not pleasant. very busy not enough booths open. always harder to come home to canada than going out of it.
I'd like to see which gets done first the new bridge or the final phase of repairs on this 100-year-old ambassador bridge. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the new bridge opens and everybody flocks there. It's too bad they decided on Gordie Howe for the name already. Great musician and worthy of the dedication but I think the bridge should be dedicated the Neil Peart bridge. Maybe Canada will dedicate the skyway in St Catherine's.
It's a wonderful structure. I did not spend time on it. But took amazing photos from Windsor, Canada. Great way to get over to Detroit.
Tons of construction Canada side. Have to drive through town to get to highway. Typically busy. US side has good fuel prices when crossing into Canada at duty free but Canada side going to US has average prices (after converting it's similar to typical US gas stations in the area or can fill up cheaper an hour or two before the border in Canada)
Busy area all the time
The view from the bridge is amazing. A new perspective of Detroit and Windsor. The only problems about the bridge is that, if you are afraid of heights, avoid at all costs as you will be tense and will be worried about all the rust. Another problem is customs, if you need to get somewhere quick, take a detour and go through the tunnel.
I LOVE the view from the bridge
This bridge doesn't even deserve 1-star. It is in an atrocious state of disrepair. Every time it rains the driving deck literally degrades into massive potholes that are so deep you can see the ground below. They are only required to "self-inspect" and report to the government, no conflict of interest there?
Amazing. Go here if you need to clear your head. Idk why that shirts there but it's gross they should clean. Probably did and I walked up to it after. I mean i let everything pile up before I take care of it anyway sooo
Going into the states from Canada is fine, coming back is a nightmare. Fast lane is usually a joke. Waiting for the shift change is long. Back ups happen way too much.
Crossed easily on a Sunday morning into Canada. But the bridge is usually under some kind of repair every time we cross. I can't imagine what it is like on a weekday. Rates keep going up each year. But not unreasonable.
It's a structurally sound suspension bridge. It allows for crossing a body of water without getting wet. All in all it accomplished it's original goal.
It's always good to go back home although this world is not my home.
Absolutely the rudest border crossing in all of America. I would advise against ever crossing into Canada from this portal. You will be treated like garbage every time you pass here. Those people have no respect for anyone!
Horrible maintenance. The bridge span deck was replaced but the rest is falling apart. Pot holes everywhere. The guard rails are so corroded you can see through them. The duty free is the same price or more expensive than actual retail.
This bridge is junk. The guard rail is being replaced. But if it needs to stop someone in the meantime good luck. Very very bumpy and uneven
Canadian side always busy Normally needs 30 to 40 minutes to cross
It is always under construction and busy border crossing is good.
Helpful and friendly staff on both sides of the border. And views as you drive over the bridge are ????
a very important bridge, needs to be widened and need to finish construction quickly as it is affecting commuters
Peaceful and quiet...let's not forget clean ❤️
It's awesome even with the covid going on.. It's still peaceful.. Sharing this moment with my daughter. Yes
Slowly (very slooowwwwlyyy), the bridge is getting repaired, but rarely get through either side without a substantial wait. Many times we've used the tunnel instead!
When will they finish construction my god ????????
The bridge is perfectly fine. It often gets backed up with traffic and semi-trucks because the bridge is suck a good crossing. I do have to question calling the owners of the bridge "greed mongers". Is this coming.from the very same people who demand free college education, $15 dollar minimum wage for entry level jobs and everything else they can get for free?
Just travelling. Recent lane expansion upon North approach is a much better transition. Coming back to the USA we always miss the sign for I-75 South, which means we're travelling West towards the airport. So better signage on entering the USA side.
I have always loved the bridge. My grandfather helped build it. There are great view, park's statues, and plenty of sitting areas.close to the historic university of Windsor as well. Definently a must see!
Can't wait for the new one to be built.
There’s always construction, causes much confusion amongst first timers and repeat travellers alike.
We go there mostly during weekdays and it's not that busy and border staff on both sides are friendly and view during summer is just awesome
Haven't been on the bridge but it looks beautiful from the Detroit riverwalk!
As a commercial driver goes smoothly most times. Cross 3/4 times a week. Can get backed up. Got to watch for the me first drivers
Beautiful site til I hit canda and had to get searched...but it was nice
During the COVID19 travel restrictions, it's been Erie crossing the border. It's just weird without all the traffic.
My favorite bridge to cross to go to the states and have been going using this bridge for more than 2 years. Be aware that there will always be traffic as this is 24 7 busy with commercial trucks. I love the duty free. It has a Bargain shop which sells liquidated items. Overall prices inside duty-free are reasonable and it is very clean. My company uses this border so I have grown to enjoy crossing here, such is the life of a CDL guy :)
Only place in Windsor to hang out with friends n family. This is the place Where one can enjoy the nature.
Always full of trucks you can spend here 1 2 hours in line.the only time is good to cross in the weekend early in the morning
Going over the bridge is exciting sometimes the people can be a pain in the butt but as long as you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about just relax and enjoy the view
Usually backed up and always under construction. I prefer the Blue Water Bridge
Very slow traffic
Decrepit. Pieces of concrete falling off, they put wood underneath to catch it as a fix. Owners refuse to repair citing the need for a second span for their repair plan. Strange that every other single span bridge can get by doing it's repairs just fine. How do they repair the Mackinac? Take the tunnel, same age as the bridge but actually maintained worth a damn. It's also cheaper!
This was such a beautiful drive
Construction always going on this bridge But nyc view of lake from bridge .
Constantly under construction. Haven't had all four lanes open and working for years. Can't wait for new bridge to be built.
Need faster construction workers. They are so slow at rebuilding the bridge. Be very careful the lanes are tight. And there should be speed limit at duty free. It is a free for all coming in there.
It's pretty bad. The border crossing officers here are on a power trip. I've crossed about a dozen times and never once have I been greeted with a smile or heard a "have a nice day." I suppose I'd be disgruntled most of the time if I lived in Detroit... You might get lucky if you're crossing at night and only have a 10 minute wait. But any other time you'll be waiting for 45 minutes to an hour.
So many problems about this bridge and its greedy owner... The toll is way too expensive. I avoid this bridge as much as possible and encourage everyone I know to use the tunnel.
Going to Canada was great. Canadian border guard was friendly and welcoming. Sadly, trying to come home... typical American border guard being a moron grilling me about my experience at Applebee's... I want to eat in Canada, I'll eat in Canada... plus the exchange rate is in my favor!
Got on by accident, there was no way off. Ended up in Canada by mistake, everyone was kind an courtesy. Went through the formalities of getting back in the United States. There was only one lane goin an coming back to the states.the Bridge was scary, with all the trucks.
Constructions all the time. Narrow lanes set by officials. very hard to keep it in the lanes at times. Where is the tax dollar going. Bridge road need to be fixed. and new border lanes need to open sooner to avoid congesion.
It is a bridge that I cross to get to work... They have a duty free shop where you can buy items from damaged trucks or close outs. Only issue is it doesn't open until later in the day on Fridays when I cross over. So I am never able to get in there and look around.
This Bridge needs to be re constructed immediately. It's a Vital bridge between Ontario Canada and Michigan USA. Hundred Thousand of Commuters and Commercial Trucks passing crossing every day. Very Old bridge have risk factor to be happen every moment. Please replace it with a new or re construct it immediately.
I passed by the Ambassador Bridge when I go to work I never been on it by bicycle I never intend to be on it by bicycle I don't know if he has a bike lane I'm not going to try I suggest someone else to try it I'll post this good luck to you all
So beautiful!
Wished I found this place sooner
This needs to clean, otherwise it is a great place to live
Political antics of this private bridge owner, and the pothole condition of the road surface, make this my least favorite way to cross the Detroit River border. Unfortunately, evening tunnel construction makes it a necessity for car travelers after 8 PM.
Crossed into Canada and back to USA within a week. Wait times were long both times (near 1 hour) but we didn't mind; these people are doing a very important job. Border agents on both sides were professional and courteous. Only complaint was the sudden closing of our lane going into Canada. God Bless these agents for the role they play in protectiong their respective nations.
The CBP Officers are always professional and kind. I got a little lost leaving the office and they were able to get me back on track easily.
If I could only give no stars
Its the ambassador bridge! Go check out riverside park. Nice place to go ; relax
Why oh why do we have to use this bridge? It is just so badly organized and badly managed and in really poor condition that every time we get on it we think something is going to give. As long as it is the only alternative one has other than the tunnel I hope the owners put some money into making it safer and better travel experience.
USA side is okay/good CANADIAN side is horrible: shift changes are too frequent and they take about 15 mins. MOST officers are very rude and they sometime waste your time on purpose.
Traffic control needs to be much better, wasting 40 minutes a day because of lacking professional traffic control. Bridge is in a very rough shape. 3 stars and only for the Duty free shop.
Nice cool place to take you're girl right off the water and look at the Bridge only reason why I gave it a 4-star is because there's no where you can eat and the roads are horrible
Duty free was awesome...if u make a mistake an dont want to cross into Canada border patrol can help
Worst international border crossing in North America! Not only is the bridge more expensive than the tunnel, but the customs officials are rude as hell. I made the mistake of using the bridge to come into Canada because my GPS sent me on it (Google Maps, PLEASE fix it so you tell people to use the tunnel!). I pulled up to an open lane, and then sat there for 20 minutes while the official had her window closed. Finally, she walked away and left without telling me she was closed. Then I get to another line, and the official was extremely rude and nasty with me. I explained that I was coming over for the day to do some antique shopping. I was planning on just looking around and seeing which stores I could find. He demanded to know exactly what I was doing, every hour for my trip. He kept insinuating that I was smuggling firearms into Canada! Finally, I get pulled over to where the officials start tearing through my car, while continuing to grill me. After finding nothing wrong, they still sent me inside to be interviewed by a customs officer. Once inside, they just handed me back my passport and sent me on my way. Now, I've crossed through the tunnel many times, and have never had any hassle like I experienced using the bridge. If this was the Canadian side, I'd shudder to think what it's like crossing back into the US. Do yourself a favor- even though all the signs on I-75 practically scream for you to use the bridge, IGNORE IT!!! Go downtown and take the tunnel- trust me, it's worth it!!
The bridge is almost impossible to navigate. The construction repairs are on going and show little signs of progress.
Love the city, and just to know it's another country on the other side.
There's a new play area and a grill area it's very nice and you can still see the water.
Terrible l can not believe that 2 strongest country on the world can not make 1 New bridge on the main crossing border point .Anboliveal
It's terrible. If you don't die crossing, you are confronted with crazy truck drivers who don't care what lane they are supposed to be in. The staff should do better to keep people in the right lanes.
The Ambassador Bridge is a tolledsuspension bridge across the Detroit River that connects Detroit, Michigan, United States, with Windsor, Ontario, Canada. It is the busiest internationalborder crossing in North America in terms of trade volume, carrying more than 25% of all merchandise trade between the United States and Canada. A 2004 Border Transportation Partnership study showed that 150,000 jobs in the region andUS$13 billion in annual production depend on the Detroit–Windsor international border crossing.[
Very busy lots of traffic everyone thinks they have right of way the bridge is being repaired.....still
Nice and helpful staff working there and good prices
What can I say... One way or another you're going to talk to Customs - Have fun. Considering the amount collected in commercial tolls, you'd think the friggin road condition would be better than it is.
Construction since stone ages and Will be continue till people get life on Mars
This is a great old bridge, going from the USA to Canada. The views you get to see on the way back and forth are amazing. You get to see the cities from 150ft in the air. Kids always get a kick out of it. I have used the tunnel and the bridge and if I had to pick I would always take the bridge for the views.
I take the tunnel until Gordie Howe bridge is up and open! The tunnel is way quicker but mostly because it has less traffic. This bridge is ridiculous expensive for how confusing the signage, lanes and appearance is. Go Gordie Howe Bridge go!
So good
As of July 2021— what a disaster. Pot holes everywhere!!
the worst and the busiest crossing. Always, construction going on. one lane both sides at the bridge. bright chances to loose your side mirror. as it is very busy so long wait to get to the counter.
Very slow going through Canada Customs. Backs up routinely 4 or 5 miles down I-75.
Construction and lane closures with so much traffic.
Under construction. Very confusing to drive in a car around all the transport trucks on the Detroit side. Truckers were great letting us in and the customs officer was quick and polite.
Very old bridge
It's a very beautiful bridge to look at night time. Lots of light it looks like a heaven
With the resurfacing and all the other renovations going on there is no control of the truck traffic, too many guys are trying to pass and go nowhere because it is only one lane traffic once you get to the middle of the bridge!
Any sane person would avoid this bridge like hell unless they're masochistic. A border crossing bridge owned privately by a greedy gang is a shame to both the US and Canada.
Very nice, peaceful place to have morning coffee.
I was at the park near the bridge. The bridge is big and beautiful and long
