Wasn’t very many animals and 1 of the Leopard had bad food the zebra looked sad the eagle was depressing
Love this zoo. They have a painting rhino. Small, up close personal zoo. Only downside is lots of large hills. Very good for small kids.
This is an amazingly nice zoo, we did not expect this. although small I would say exhibits are nicer than indianapolis zoo. you can tell animals are happy
We love Mesker Park Zoo and visit at least once a year! There are a wide variety of interesting animals and and exhibits. The season passes are a great value if you plan to go multiple times a year.
The zoo was pretty awesome! I did miss the peacocks that used to run around but everything else was amazing! Feeding the giraffes was amazing and so much fun! The budgie pit was also fun! At one point I had 4 competing for the feed in my hand! The otters are absolutely adorable! My only problems was that I think the scarlet macaw needs a place to get away from public eyes and that the rhino needs more space or at least to take down the walls so is area is a bit more open. Other then that it was pretty awesome!
You really otter check this place out! All the animals were out and active. Very fun and very educational.
The family and I decided to go out to the zoo the Monday after Christmas because the weather was amazing, we had just received a membership for Christmas, and we were meeting some friends. The penguins were awesome and other than some exhibits being closed, we had an amazing time!
Great place, worth the season pass!
This particular visit was really more of a 3 star visit, but I gave it a 4 because I’ve previously had better experiences here and I think COVID is taking a toll. It’s very hilly so I would not recommend going on a hot day unless the tram is running or you don’t mind a good sweat. They have opened back up since COVID and have marked off the path in a way that you kind of have to walk the whole zoo in a particular direction, which may be nice or not depending on your perspective. No indoor exhibits were open, nor was the gift shop or children’s area, which was a bummer, but is on par with other zoos at this time. Several of the outdoor animals were not on display (not sure if they were being treated or sleeping or what) which was also disappointing since we were already missing out on the indoor animals. Weeds/plants were overgrown in some areas, not sure if this is due to reduced income or if it’s typical as prior to this visit I haven’t been in years. They’ve recently enclosed the carousel in a building which looked nice. And I remember the indoor exhibits being nice when I had come before. The giraffes come up pretty close to you which is cool. Overall a nice smaller city zoo during normal circumstances, hopefully people will continue to support them so they can maintain the animals and facilities for when they fully reopen.
This zoo is perfect for folks that enjoy a nice walk while seeing animals. My favorite parts are the nocturnal animals area, the red panda exhibit, and the sun bear exhibit. All of which feature lots of cool creatures that you don't often see in other zoos. Mesker is also in the process of building a penguin exhibit, which everyone is very excited for! I also recommend checking out their yearly events such as Boo at the Zoo, and Brew at the Zoo (ages 21+) One last cool thing! The zoo memberships are super affordable if you plan to return more than once, and they allow you to get free/discounted admission to tons of zoos and aquariums across the country
Always luv visiting the zoo! The new birds r sooo cute!
Old time charm with new age wonder. Super friendly staff. Animals seemed well taken care of and comfortable. The tiger enclosure was lacking in space and shelter, but otherwise the exhibits were all great! I love the rooftop overlooks and the pond. The amazonian house was spectacular!

Everyone always has bad stuff to say about our zoo, but I absolutely love it. For the size of Evansville, this zoo is perfect. In recent years, interest in the zoo has risen, and they've brought in more animals. The new Budgie exhibit is amazing, and I see great things happening in this zoo's future.
I went here when I was little and I don't remember anything about it except an elephant I got attached to. Now I'm a grown man and I volunteered here and ended up getting to walk the zoo and I never thought mulching would be funner than the zoo. The animals look so miserable and it seems some of the enclosures are a tad too small for certain animals. I'm sure the people here work hard to maintain things but you can only do so much with so little. The zoo isn't massive but it's decently size but you can tell some of the animals are super bored. I'm not sure the reasoning behind some of the exhibit closures though but it seemed a good amount was closed to the public. The bird building is great but the guests kept propping both doors open and letting people in even though there's signs that clearly say not to so the birds don't escape. The paths were relatively clean with trash here and there which is unavoidable but the cleanliness was pretty on point. If you want to stretch your legs and take a nice walk this place is perfect. If you're going to see the animals then just look up some animal vids on youtube.
Reasonably priced, and it was a beautiful day, so what animals were there were out and about. Only downfall is that there were many closed exhibits. However, it could be due to the current pandemic. Other than that my family and I had a wonderful experience
Well-maintained zoo, friendly staff. I gave 4 stars because there always seems to be an animal exhibit closed for some reason or another...reasons unknown... Updated for 5 bonus points! ????
Pretty cheap considering how much they offer! The tokens are a bit of a rip off but we kept them as souvenirs for the kids! Super cool to feed the giraffes. Some of the animal confines seem too small but all the animals looked happy and healthy!

Great place to go walking, hills and all. The new penguin exhibit is great. Can't wait for the orchid exhibit in Amazonia soon. Recommend a membership.

Should have been a great experience. Hadn’t been to Mesker Zoo for quite a few years. HOWEVER, there was an employee that persisted on stalking us through almost the entire time for absolutely no reason. It was a family visit (grandparents, 3 adult children, one young grandchild) but we were still stalked! I found it rather intrusive and took away from our enjoyment (deducted two stars for this). There was a bus load of kids attending at the same time. The employee’s time would have been better served ensuring everyone was enjoying their time and such. Disappointing.
Really good, compact zoo experience in Evansville. Memberships are affordable and the facilities are well kept. The new penguin exhibit is great!

Highly disappointed in this zoo. I just feel everything was very dated and the exhibits didn't seem to be well maintained.

Only 9.50 to get in an the best staff ever I love how maintained and very easy going everything is an how if you go early enough you feel like you are the only one there like you own your own zoo love it an will become a member
We ( myself, husband, son, daughter in law and their 3 boys)had a great time but the signs and the ground arrows were very confusing. Tokens are expensive to just feed the birds. Cant wait for the penguins exhibit to be ready and we will all be back!!
Wonderful as usual. Everyone is so kind and full of information. There's always something new to see or learn. Amazonia is open again and the traveling orchid exhibit is installed and gorgeous.
Love this zoo. It's clean and a great little walking workout.

It was fun as always. Wish more of the animals were out. Can't wait for the penguins.
Cute little zoo. Nice enclosures. The majority of the park is shaded. There's a few uphill climbs but nothing outrageous. Great place for an afternoon with the family.
My kids and I really enjoyed the zoo. I thought, for its size, that the zoo had a really good variety of animals. Admission is very reasonable..all three of us in for well under $30. If you’re in the Evansville area, I recommend you give it a try. If I were local, I would get the membership just to go walk the hills.

We love this zoo! They have a large selection of animals you don't usually see. Plus, it's a great place to get your steps in. There's a small park/play area. All the extra stuff was closed, but we went on a weekday during winter break.
We loved it. It has been awhile since we were there, they have improved it so much I was amazed. Thank you mesker zoo.
Came from out of town so didn’t know what to expect. The park was very clean, hilly so be prepared for that, decent prices $2 to feed the giraffe which was my kids favorite. They also have a fenced shaded play area!
We love Mesker Park Zoo and Botanical Gardens. They just reopened after covid quarantine and not everything is open, but it was good to be able to go. We support them with an annual zoo membership and Penguins are coming in 2021!!!
This zoo is very clean. Be ready to walk up and down hills. The animals are grouped based on where they are found in the world. There is a new carousel coming soon. The Amazon exhibit is very nice. Before you leave check out the gift shop.

Amazing zoo. Animals are always fun to see and their exhibits are amazing. They are open with masks only in buildings which is a good compromise.

Very nice zoo with a fairly broad variety of species in their care. Exhibits appeared well-maintained and gave the animals plenty of space.
It’s ok. Not really much of a zoo. It really needs more animals and etc.

We have a family membership here. Always clean and staff are always polite.
Members get in all year with a pass. Great zoo with a good variety of animals.

My wife and I are avid Zoo goers are Zoos all over the country. The Mesker park Zoo was a quick stop by on our way home from a weekend trip to Holiday World. We very much enjoyed this Zoo. The Price is excellent! The Zoo is much larger than one would think for a smaller town zoo. We absolutely loved the Jaguar exhibit. The Zoo was very clean and decently designed. There are of course some much older exhibits that could use revamping. However there are also some poorly designed new exhibits (looking at you sun bear and tiger exhibits). Pros: Large walkways Very good price Good variety of animals Lots of open space Good exhibits Not overly crowded Cons: Older exhibits Bad signage Lot of walking Underwelming Giraffe feeding Bad restroom locations Not many food options

This is the most family friendly zoo I've ever visited. The staff members are courteous and knowledgeable. The animal are generally very active if you arrive in the morning hours. The layout is circular and fenced. A family pass is only $65 annually and gets you free admission to many other zoo's around the country or HUGE (generally 50%) discounts.
Lots of construction which will make it a better zoo in the future. Lots of hills which makes getting around with a stroller or wheel chair very difficult. Wish it was kept up a little better.

Mesker Park Zoo has been a family favorite since I was a toddler! With each remodel, it just got better and better! The addition of the Amazonia and now the Humboldt Penguin Exhibit have made it even better! I am looking for to having the butterfly garden back too! We miss it! Bring the whole family and bring them early on a weekday, if possible. It’s not as busy. Bring your mask, just in case, and have fun!
Great place to go to get out of the house. Took us (a group of 3-2 adults and 1 Toddler) roughly 2 hours to get through the parts of the zoo offered-there is limited exhibits/animals due to COVID but enough open to enjoy some of the main parts. The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful the entire time. Everyone wore masks and practiced extra cleanliness practice. Unfortunately they didn't have the Merry Go Round open or offer the Tram (we needed the extra exercise anyway lol). Overall happy with my experience here and will be going back. Make sure to get your tickets ahead of time due to COVID and review their site for any additional information or changes prior to your visit!
Yooooo they got snakes!!!

Great place to go with your family or friends. Lots of interesting animals.

We took all these prickly pears, I had growing, to the zoo to donate to the tortoises. The people at the zoo were nice in return and allowed us a free entry. It was right before Halloween, they had the place decorated nicely. We really enjoyed our visit. I just hope the tortoises enjoyed the pears as much as we enjoyed our treat. We truely enjoyed our visit and plan on returning next summer.
Great little zoo. When I visited in the spring, there were multiple construction projects going on, so they are improving and investing. Great programs for little kids like Zoo School. Staff interaction was limited, but was friendly. I would say that it takes about an hour and a half to get through the entire zoo. Nice gift shop and place to get food and snacks.

This is a great zoo! My kids enjoyed all of the animals, especially the Rhino. It is laid out well and can be walked through, with small children, in about 2 hours. The prices are fair and reasonable. The employees should smile a little more since they work in such a happy place.

It's very clean, but take water to drink!!! There are water fountains but kinda far between and soda machines are $4 and snack machines are $3 for everything in them. It was 90° today so really glad when we could fill our bottles.
Beautiful day for the zoo. My teenage daughter and I really enjoyed seeing the jaguar and other animals in Amazonia. Enjoyed the Carousel ride, but we wished the tram had been operating.
We love, love, LOVE Mesker Zoo! I've been coming here since I was a toddler, and now I take my daughters here as often as possible!
I had a good time. There are a few hills but not too bad. There were quite a few empty enclosures but I loved the animals that I did get to see. I think some of the enclosures need to be updated and expanded a bit like the tiger exhibit for example. I loved the giraffes even though I got scolded for touching one. Maybe because I didn't pay to feed them? If people are not supposed to touch them when they stick their heads out maybe they should put in a second fence. It is a decent zoo but I wouldn't plan a big trip just to see it. We were just passing through. The older people with me remember the "Monkey Ship" and are glad they haven't taken it down.

It's a great little zoo that makes use of the space they are given, covid definitely has taken a toll on the attraction but still nice to see the animals, can't wait for them to finish revocations for penguins too, member ship is almost the same price as regular tickets so best bet there.

I have been goin 2 this zoo for 45 years! ???? I MISS Donna the hippo & Bunny the elephant! ???? I wish they could get some replacements for them! It would b the BEST zoo again! ????
Was highly disappointed. Almost half of the exhibits had no animals. And the hills are killer. The giraffe feeding was closed when they said at front gate it was opened. The place to pet goats and stuff was closed. Just all around disappointing!!!

The zoo was super nice and clean and had many interactive aspects to it. Plenty of shade was provided by the beautiful trees above. I fed a freaking giraffe and I do not care how old you are... It's freaking awesome to feed a freaking giraffe. We also fed some birds, but they weren't just any birds. They were beautiful and colorful little creatures and there were like HUNDREDS of them. (Picture shown) definitely a great place to go with kids, adults, or just whoever. There were also peacocks roaming around which was cool to. Not expensive to get in either. OH! And you can take these awesome boat rides. #Magical #NatureIsAwesome

Gorgeous, very clean. Great for all ages. I was able to get closer pictures of the animals at this zoo than others I have visited. Hot day when I was there, animals not active, but easier to see and photograph. Gift shop lacks, no drink/food stands around the park. Does have drinking fountains available through the park.

The ZOO... I visited mesker park today 5/29/21. I had 8 grand kids with me, this was a planned family the facility has ads n websites, photos etc. Telling all about the 700 or more exibts of rare animals etc. Alright everyone excited about the educational n fun trip we have planned, we arrived pay admission which didn't seem bad upon entry. 50 acres of park to visit off we go kids r almost in a run from the thoughts of the animals. 1st exibt empty 2nd,exibt 1 lonely Wolf, it appeared to be malnutritished very thin with set back eyes that wasn't shining its fur was a hot mess!!I almost cried cuz I owned wolf's n they r beautiful if cared for correctly. We walked to every exibt on the map ok I agree they have 700 exibts alright but what they fail to disclose to the public is out of the listed number of exibts you will c a total of 8-9 exibts that have wildlife inside it!!! A 16oz coke will cost u 3.00$ out of a coke machine .the flowers were very nice n pretty we saw a wooden bear, but mainly our eyes saw lots of empty cages, weeds unmanaged shrubs n trees n smelled a lot of stinch from the 1 rhino cage that was actually a 200yr old rhino God bless the poor thing. But there were lots of RUDE unfriendly staff there to stand n look n not b helpful in any kind of way. So I was very disappointed in the Zoo n so we're my grandbabies, total admissions was 120.00$ to enter the zoo 55.00 dollars for gas to go there, 60.00$ for lunch and 9.00$ for the drinks while walking in the zoo. 240.00 Grand total for walking over 50 acres of ground looking at nothing, we cld have went to a public playground for free and done better!!!! We will never go back next time St.louis zoo no admission to enter only pay to park.DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY TO VISIT MESKER PARK ZOO!!!!
Been to this zoo quite a few times! Took my 1 year old and she loved it, the only disappointment was there wasn’t very many animals out, but other than that, it was fun!
Excellent winter rates. Some older facilities but many new. Good interaction for children. Tunnels and climbing equipment.
It was awesome my is always happy when we go so its a yes for me!!! Plus they have the penguins we loves much!!!! I put the price was free because we have a membership, not sure how much general admission is.
Whew...lots of uphill walking but the kids really enjoyed all of the different animals and exhibits. Recommend getting tickets in advance as I dont think walk up are permitted at this time. Great way to spend some family time exploring the beauty of the zoo....and I need a nap.
Zoo was fun. Places were blocked off, due to some rebuilding but fun
Ok, my friends came here on Tuesday and it started off great. We went to the Amazon part first, and several people took a shortcut instead of going on the path, so we decided to do it too. Nothing happened at all. The person who was working the doors, let the people in front of us get through without any issues, but he was quite rude and aggressive about us cutting off the path. Like sir, I’m sorry that it wasn’t even a foot off the ground, and that it was just easier. Also, we went into the carousel, and the person working there wouldn’t help my friend get off one of the animals. It wasn’t like she absolutely refused, but she just literally told my friend that she would get off eventually. So, overall rude service

I feel sad for the zoo. So many shut down exhibits, broken stairways and guardrails. The penguin exhibit is nice, but in the context of the whole zoo it’s like spinning rims in a rusty old Camry.

We couldn't enjoy the zoo because half of it was blocked off. Many of the exhibits that were open had no animals. The tram was short and only went by 2 animals.
I was very surprised at how many animals are in this zoo, the kiddos loved it! With COVID they have you walk a one way loop around the park, but if you're there to see everything like us we didn't mind one bit. We even got to see the zoo keeper feed the kamodo dragon, and he came out and talked with our kids. Overall a very good experience!
We have a membership and the kids absolutely love it. That last hill gets me every time lol

Mesker Park Zoo is a small but growing park. Admission is a great value! For the price of a movie ticket, you can spend the day exploring exhibits and learning more about ecosystems from around the world. The Amazonia South American Rainforest exhibit is my favorite! It provides a great escape from the cold during the winter months. By the way, the park is open 365 days a year. Don't forget to mark your calendar for events like Orchid Escape and Zoo Brew.
Pretty nice place for a quick visit. There are some pretty cool areas but it is a relatively small zoo. Still worth checking out

A really great value for the cost. There's a lot more to see then you would expect considering the size of the zoo. I really enjoyed my visit to the zoo and may come back in the future but the only thing I would say people may want to consider is the amount of walking you'll do up and down hills at Mesker Park Zoo. I enjoyed it and felt good about the number of steps I put in at the zoo but I know many people don't like exhausting themselves like that.

Boo at the Zoo is so much fun!!! The staff is so friendly and they really know how to decorate. We just wish there was a little more food, so bring lots of snacks! EASY for walkers, 90/100 for strollers and wagons. This zoo is the PERFECT size and we had so much fun!!
50% of the place is closed but you still pay full price. You cant even touch the giraffe let alone feed them. The paddle boats are gone. I really want a refund or at least make it half price. It sucks and the petting zoo part is gone.
A decent small zoo, perfect for a day trip. However, be prepared to scale multiple steep hills to get around the zoo and to see some of the animals. Some of the animals were quite out-of-the-way, tucked away in a corner in a building, and the bumper boats attraction looked run down and dirty. Overall, this zoo could do with a little touching up, but not a bad way to spend a couple hours.
Pricey, new attractions coming, but most exhibits were closed. It's not as nice as the St. Louis zoo.
The zoo is a great place to get outside and get some exercise with the kids. Love all of the improvements.
I have visited scores of zoos around the world. Mesker Park is still among my favorites, and definitely my favorite of its size. It combines history, scenery, variety, and unique habitat design. Take a walk by the shores of Lake Victoria or through the rainforest of Amazonia. There is a bit of everything for all to enjoy.

The enclosures in this zoo are way to small, especially for the cats. Caopeyberas are social animals and need a companion. The grounds are nice. There is a lot of up and down hill walking. Animals need more room to roam.
Nice little zoo! We were there in late winter/early spring so the crowds were extremely light. We did miss out on a few things due to our timing - no bumper boats and no paddle boats - but everything else seemed to be running. You get extremely close to the animals - between the leopard, giraffes, the petting zoo, and the chubby unicorns (rhinos)- see pics, closer than any other zoo I've been to. The Amazon Rainforest building is awesome - make it your finale! Loved it!

Under construction but it's a great family day take it slow kinda zoo. The big cat selection is absolutely amazing and one of our favorites things there were excited to see what all they upgrade and bring in the future but it's a nice place not many activities or areas to interact with anything but again for a small zoo it's really nice

It was fun but they did have things closed off not sure if it was due to covid but would have been better if they were open but it was fun hopefully if I go next time when I'm in town they will have more things open
Mesker Park zoo is a lovely zoo, for just about anyone. They offer a trolley service throughout exhibits, giraffe feedings at 11:00 & 2:00, and many extra activities for kiddos. Impressed by vast enclosures for large amount of animals. Enjoyed the day.

Hands down the worst zoo I've ever been to. Was told that they had scooters for the disabled and when we got there and was first in line. Now all of a sudden they ALL be serviced. Most of the exhibits are closed off or being maintained. Go somewhere else for a good time don't waste your time or money here.

The zoo is a fun place to spend a day! Loved feeding the giraffes!
The need more animals with better visibility. Small kids can't really see most of the animals unless you lift them up and such, so if you have more than one or use a stroller, it's a lot harder than it should be. There aren't that many large animals anymore. The new items from the past few years are great, but hopefully, they update the old exhibits soon. They could use more animals in general or at least fill all the exhibits they have, but it's just not a large zoo and they seem to put focus more on plants.
It's not a huge zoo but it is very nice, clean, and well-maintained. It's also a botanical garden. There are play areas, activties, and shows for kids. We loved feeding the giraffes! A nice place to spend a day with the family.

It is a great, little zoo! I urge you to go, and immediately check out Amazonia! Some hills to climb. Very clean. We enjoy riding the carousel every time we go. Meskar Park Zoo, also has a AWESOME playground for little send big kids. I think it does need to be more handicap accessible though. I like that you can fill your water bottles up for free at different stations and the zoo recycles! Pricing is really good for the size of the zoo.

Stopped here on our way home to stretch the kids legs for 45 minutes before jumping back into the car... wow! way bigger than we expected! Spent 3 hours unexpectedly. Lots of cool animals that aren't at our home zoo in Milwaukee. The otter tunnel was our favorite part, followed by INDOOR carousel (because winter).
The animals do not look very happy, the tiger walked around wailing in misery the entire time we were there. The inside exhibits stink like nothing I’ve ever smelled before, like the animal feces is not cleaned up, ever. (We’ve been to plenty of zoos, the inside exhibits have never smelled that awful) We were adjusting our masks inside one of the exhibits, trying to breathe from the awful smell, and the rudest employee came up to us, glared and pointed at her mask and then followed us around, like she was waiting to start a fight..... the only reason i didn’t give them one star is because it was such a beautiful day and we enjoyed the scenery of the outside part.

We went last week and had a great time! There are some different pathways to the exhibits but it didn’t impact our visit. I think all of the animals have really been flourishing with the smaller crowds.
Not a bad zoo for a small city, plenty of exhibits and very fair pricing. However a lot of the viewing glass was dirty and a few of the exhibits needed updating and repairs Great stuff for kiddos though and well worth the cost of admission
Great botanical garden but was not pleased with animals. The animals seemed very depressed and half of the cages were empty.
The park was ok, can't wait for penguins to be brought in, we're waiting on that, staff was great, supported the gift shop but not the eatery-over priced on everything and the soda/water dispenser machine were $4... Not happy about that, we'll bring our own but again looking forward to penguins come fall!
Zoo is simple and efficient to navigate. New penguin exhibit is fun if you time it to see feeding.

Take the cart.. I can not remember the Gentalmans name is but he is retired officer from the army and he gives you all kinds of knowledge about each of the animals there

Nice zoo to spend the day with your little kids. Nothing to special
Im not writing this out of ill will but rather with the hopes that those who are charge may make some very important changes. The park as a whole is very poorly kept and in extreme need of an entire make over. Knowing the age of the zoo did provide some insight into it's condition but in all fairness the things of which I'll share are simple conditions that should never have existed. First, there are animal droppings all over one of the main trails. Im not sure who is in charge of cleaning up the poop but when we have to watch where we walk in order to avoid it tells that's it's really gotten out of control. Granted, it's a zoo where animals are going to poop, but the asphalt trails around the park should not have aged animal feces. The next item up for discussion is one of the exhibit building's was atrocious as far as the smell of animal dung. Again, I know it's a zoo but this was simply neglect. On to the next item, the Tram...extremely in need of junking and replacing with something less than 20 years old. The driver's seat literally has tears in the side and back from simple age. As we rode it around the park we kept hoping and praying the drive shaft didn't fall to the ground. One of the universal joints was ka-thumping all during the ride, and unfortunately that's simply unacceptable. The famous paddle boats ere also broken and as much fun as they are they need a whole new fleet. Out of the 8 paddle " in he pond, only two worked and were available. The girl that was in charge of the 66 boats was terrible with respect to people skills. When we first arrived she stated that she wasn't open yet in a very ugly posture. We left to return in the 15 minutes she stated it would take her to finally be open. We returned and did the paddle boats but the employees attitude really did make it so much less enjoyable. As with any zoo there's always a fear that particular wild animals may get out and considering the neglect of the grounds and the attitudes of some it's only a matter of time when someone will leave a door or gate open and God help the person should they be attacked.

We had an amazing afternoon. The natural setting and beautiful botanical garden enhances the visit. I have been to zoos with a concrete and cages feel. This zoo was absolutely beautiful. The animals looked more in their natural habitats. The price was also very reasonable.
Friendly zoo staff, reasonable admittance price, and a fair amount of animals to see even in the winter. Peacocks roam around which is fun especially if they’re ruffling their feathers. The amazon enclosure has free flying birds and lots of plants, so that was my favorite part. The other enclosures were mostly fair sized for the animals. The tiger has a very small space to roam though, which was a bit sad to see.
Going to the zoo is always fun. MPZ is no exception! But they don't have some of the typical animals you (or maybe just I) might hope to see at the zoo. No big deal - still fun. But then we bought three 12oz. bottles of water for ... $12. I mean, you can buy a 24-pack of those things for like $2.50. That kind of mark-up was not just surprising; it was over kill.
The animals were much more animated. The Rhinos were amazing!! Feeding the giraffes is my favorite!
It was really good, the only problem I would say is that the AC in some of buildings like the discovery building. Was pretty hot outside and the building was hotter inside. But other than that it was very enjoyable.

im actually not a fan of this zoo at all. The enclosures make me so sad. Especially the tiger, the bear, and most of all the capybara. Capybara's are social animals and get depressed when alone. Bring them another capy in the enclosure !!! It makes me so sad going there to see them so alone. All of the enclosures look so wrong and sad. I will never come back to this zoo and i recommend no one go to it. Stop adding another enclosure and work on taking care and refurnishing the enclosures for the poor animals there.

Cute zoo with botanical gardens included inside, took my ol' lady for valentine's day!! Didn't disappoint one bit!! AWESOME place that we will be visiting again real soon to feed the little penguins and giraffes as well!! Cheap place also, admission is 8-9 bucks!!;-) Love you guys, keep up the great work taking care of all the wonderful animals there!!
I have been frequenting this zoo my entire life. I didn't grow up here, but my grandma lived right down the road, so we always visited when we were in town. Now that I'm an adult and live here, I have an annual membership and use it as much as I can. living about an hour away. It's a smaller zoo, but the animals are always well looked after and the staff very friendly. Also, the zoo is always making changes and improvements, so I look forward to what is coming in the future. I'm currently going through chemo, and just walking around (when I have the strength- those hills!) and watching the animals always makes me feel so much better.
The penguins of Patagonia are a perfect addition to the zoo I could sit and watch the penguins for hours

Enjoyed seeing the carousel up and running. The kids play area near the (once was) otter exhibit is all roped off. So that was a bit of a disappointment. Overall it was beautiful with all the blooming foliage, busy lakes and progress they're making for the penguins ???? of Patagonia exhibit to open soon!
We love Mesker Park Zoo and today was no exception! They have easy to follow arrows directing you through the zoo, everyone was wearing a mask and followed all procedures as they were supposed to, and the staff was friendly as always. We love our membership here and can’t wait to return!
We had a great trip yesterday with friends and kids. Masks we're required inside buildings but outside was optional. Weather was perfect for the zoo. Friendly employees, guided tour and strollers to rent for cheap.
Even though it was a hot day, lots of animals up and about. The new penguin exhibit is coming along nicely. The zoo is small at least by attractions but it's still great to go visit now and again. I recommend the season pass especially if you have kids and live close enough to go more than once. Otherwise prices are a little on the high side but since the city and community don't really support the zoo like they do in places like St. Louis it's about what you expect. Overall a nice place to visit, staff are helpful, I do recommend.

Great zoo. Loved the new penguin exhibit. Don't miss feeding time. Tram offers insightful commentary. Carousel is beautiful and has mostly jumping animals. Staff and docents are wonderful. Rented an electric mobility scooter for a member of our group. It was powerful enough to deal with the hills and distance of the zoo. Great visit!

Was here with my boyfriend about 2 years ago and it was very sad, small enclosures. Today my boyfriend and I came here and I was amazed on how much progress this little Zoo is trying to expand and remodel here in Evansville. The tiger and bear enclosure has gotten bigger. They had an educational section by the tiger enclosure. I was very pleased today. Definitely coming back and can't wait to see the penguins. ????????

Very nice zoo. Definitely feels tourist. And I grew up here. Definitely improved over the years.
Although smaller than your average city zoo, this place is a gem! The staff here utilizes every bit of space to maximize the visitors' experience. For the insignificant cost of nine dollars per adult this is a must on your list of to-do's with the kiddos. Will be returning for sure!
My family and I LOVE the zoo. We try to go several times a year. We all have a favorite animal of course that we must see and we enjoy how inviting and clean Mesker stays even when they are building new habitats and structures. I would recommend this zoo all day everyday.
Best zoo I've been to! There was a wide variety of animals and the winter price was a nice surprise.

It was actually really fun! Cool experience, Plenty to do. Lot's of animal's. Definitely coming back again!
Nice Zoo, friendly staff. It's laid out in a large circle so you can't miss anything. Though if you don't bring your own drinks be prepared to pay up at the vending machines and definitely at the cafe. Other than that, it's a great way to spend the day.
Such a great zoo... Good signage. Happy animals. Tiger area a little small. Easy to get around. Hilly. Love feeding giraffes
Half of the exhibits were closed bathrooms were disgusting and broken nothing like it was when I was a kid

What a clean, well thought out, local zoo. The indoor botanic garden is the exhibit that really shines here. Walking through the garden during colder months is so enjoyable. Animals look content, food selection is nice, and staff are friendly. All around, this is a nice smaller zoo at a nice price.

The summer camp program seems great. My boy has had a great attitude change since going there when schools closed. He seems to enjoy it and the staff are awesome.
Small which is great if you have small kid, can't walk as far as a bigger, ect I like that it doesn't take all day....get in get out.... unless your the type that wants to spend a full day at the zoo. Not me I got other things to do. ???? It's always well kept and staff if friendly and helpful. The only thing I don't like is I don't see the paddle boat going. Maybe I go before Memorial day and after labor day so they are closed...not sure. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐???????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????

It doesn't compare to the large cities around us but it is a special place for Evansville. Always great customer service and the zoo is currently adding more exhibits, like penguins! The zoo was wonderful and we had a great day!! We will definitely go back soon!!
Price was very reasonable & Park was very clean ! Almost everything was open which was really nice - Almost gives you a feeling of normalcy. Most of the animals were out or at least in eye site. Due to 6ft and 1 way directions some where harder to see then others. We had a great time
We were there in the fall. It's nice for its size. I would be willing to go back and check out the new penguin exhibit

Since the last time I was here, bout two years ago, they've really upped their game! Love the interaction time in the Enchanted forest and most all the animals were up and moving around and you didn't have to really search for them. Thank you Mesker for upping your game!

Probably would've enjoyed more if the weather was better. We think most of the animals were inside do to the rain coming.
It's the only zoo we have in Evansville and it's been around for a long time. I think it's a great little zoo and admission is super cheap. It's well worth the money and they are slowly adding to it so it just keeps getting better.

The zoo is very nice. They are in the process of building a new penguin habitat that will be open in September

we went to the boo at the zoo and it was a fun experience for our 3 year old. Definitely recommend
The Amazon area and feeding the giraffe were our favorites! The tiger seemed lonely and very bored. He reminded me of why I'm not the biggest fan of zoos in general. All in all, it was a great walk and the zoo is kept clean. The staff we encountered were friendly, with the exception of 1 near the giraffe/zebra exhibit.

My favorite zoo. The hills are killer on my legs, but this is a great zoo.
This zoo has soo much potential but didn't deliver I'd like to think........ Covid really hurt this zoos business and the poor animals and attractions need desperate TLC. We hardly seen any animals the children were very disappointed. We wanted to ride the tram but hardly ran they told us it wasn't available and then .... . Wait we see people on it later?. The carousel could go round more not just for 5 min. People this is the hardest walking trail for a zoo you will feel exhausted being here for long many many inclined hills to walk. I've have been to soooo many zoos but the walk at this location is excruciating there are no flat surfaces here. Great for a mountaineer. Alot of animals were sick that what signs said ...... we didn't see them. Ugh! I hate giving this the review because I Love animals and Zoos. Evansville needs to help this location. Someone needs to encourage the fundings to help this zoo for the animals sake!

We really enjoyed this zoo, especially for it's small size. The only thing I didnt like was that some of the enclosures were extremely small. Get ready for walking as it's very hilly, though I did not take off for that. We'll be back!

We're from Illinois so we visit the FREE St. Louis Zoo often. Once you have been to the St. Louis zoo, no other zoo you go to can compare. The price to get in was not bad. But I would not pay to go back there. It is an okay place to take young kids to let them run around and play. The animals all look miserable. They have super tiny habitats/enclosures for a lot of the animals. The animals are not in very good shape... This place broke our hearts seeing the condition of the animals. We definitely will not be back. One employee was carrying around the tail of the giraffe that had been bitten off by a zebra(they keep giraffes and zebras enclosed together, even though they obviously do not get along). She informed us this poor giraffe will not grow its tail back. Overall, our one year old and two year old had fun running around, but they would only enjoy it a couple more years. The place is just depressing. One other thing, the parrots were definitely stressed out. Pictured below are of them. You can see bones and inside one's rib cage. The other one was eating one of its feathers. This place is just sad.
My kiddos are always excited for the trip to the zoo! The Carousel is really nice!
While small, the animals are well kept and there's plenty of extra experiences to keep the kids interested. If you only have a short time, hop on and off the tram for two bucks a rider. The carousel has a good variety of animals to ride on for two bucks per rider. The gift shop had plenty of variety for all ages. The cafe was reasonably priced with good variety and friendly staff.

We became zoo members at Mesker this year, and have not regretted it at all. Over the summer, we went every other weekend and always had a great time. From riding the carousel, to feeding the budgies, to seeing our favorite animals do new things, it is never boring. Yesterday evening was our first time participating in Boo at the Zoo, and my husband and I had just as much fun as our 7 year old and 1 year old! The decorations were great and there was something cool to see or do at every turn. This zoo had made so many improvements over the year and seems to do its part in educating the masses on the importance of conservation and respecting our planets and its creatures.
Loved this zoo. Fun place to go with the family!
Haven't been to the Zoo in 10 years, it was just wonderful.

It was a gorgeous day. More animals than the last time I was there. But, several exhibits were marked incorrectly, and the zoo was dirty. They could have taken the opportunity while they were closed to do some much needed painting and cleaning. And making everyone move in the same direction just caused more bottlenecks than if they would have let us walk on our own. Too much micromanaging. The gift shop was closed, the cafe was closed. You needed a "reservation " to get in. Be imaginative, don't follow the crowd mentality, but alas, the zoo in it's effort to be politically correct, botched a perfect day.
It's a small zoo but reasonably priced. The staff was super friendly especially in the dining area. Shirley did great and was good with the kids. Exhibits for the most part were well maintained. Only complaint is the wait time trying to get tickets. The one line extended out into the parking lot where people had to move due to incoming vehicles.
The zoo didn't had enough animals to check out but need to understand that it is fairly small. Reptiles area stinks. They only have two trams and most of the roads are slopes and really makes you exhausted on a sunny day. There is some construction going on, hope they will expand.

I feel if the place was taken care of a little better, it could be really great. A few walk ways to see enclosures we're over grown with trees and stuff. Just seemed landscaping up keep was lacking. Alot of the animals were not out. Has potential to being a never nice zoo. There is alot of building going on, so they are trying to have a great zoo
Well besides the fact that over half the exhibits we're closed off or empty and the staff was very rude for a misunderstanding and unapologetic...I will never take my family there again and I'd advise you don't either..

Bought a membership for me and my family and probably visited there 3 times a week...my lil girl is 2yrs old and she loves the playground and the lil misters they have scattered around the zoo. Not to mention its great exercise.
I love everything about the place. It's great exercise, educational and they do a variety of promo days. Amazonia alone is worth a visit.
Over all it had different animals. Not really what I expected when going there. Kind of expensive as well. Most of the animals were either hiding or exhibits were closed down. Would have to say that it's not little kid walking friendly either. There's many inclines and hills there exhausted from walking the first 15 minutes. Gift shop is small but there is something there for all ages. The botanical garden is pretty neat as well. Definitely a change of weather when you get,in there so be prepared.
We had a great time. We arrived at our 9:30 time slot and were finished with the whole zoo by 1:15. We aren't people who rush through either. We like to stop and observe animals. There were several animals not on exhibit either due to weather or covid concerns. Our kids had fun and it was a fun experience. Not having wheelchairs or the tram was a bit if an issue for our family. Our son is in a walking boot from a broken leg and our daughter has special needs. All in all, it was a good experience.

Decided to take the kids today since we would mainly be outside, and Corona sucks. Had an amazing time with the kids, and even though there were a few things we couldn't do, we all had a blast. I appreciate the effort of everyone who works and volunteers at our zoo and I'm very glad we renewed our membership!
Every single time I have been they have not been able to take cards. Thankfully we bought our tickets online and printed them out so when we got to the window, after a 45 min wait with about 10 people in front of us, I took seconds to give them the tickets and proceed. If they had an express lane for pre-purchased and printed tickets that would make this place 5 stars I love all of the sights and animals. Mesker Zoo has a soft spot in my heart since I was a child, they have only further improved, and continue to.

Lovely place they have it set up for one way tragic so be prepared to walk the entire zoo. Lots of up close exhibits. We will be making a return trip once the penguin exhibit opens.

Nice sized zoo, they had a lot more than I expected! Some construction going on but they are just making more exhibits for the future. My little girl enjoyed it!
It's a lot of fun. Absolutely loved the Amazonia part! The Komodo Dragon was amazing. Loved seeing all of the monkeys. The Rhino is gorgeous. The waterfalls were beautiful. The plants, flowers and trees were pretty. The goats were entertaining. The employees were polite. The place was clean. Looking forward to the penguin exhibit opening in 2021.
It was really nice to come back home and go to the Evansville Mesker Park Zoo. The staff was friendly and aimed on keeping everyone safe. The animals were well taken care of and pretty relaxed. The red panda and jaguar were CUTE and BEAUTIFUL (respectively). They offer free sunblock and have a lovely carousel. They also offer single and double strollers for rent (VERY cheap). All in all, I was very impressed. I was informed about a grandparents seasonal pass and plan on taking advantage very soon!

Can be a great zoo..a lot of things were closed.. mostly probably because of covid
It was hot and all of the animals were sleeping, except the rhinos you can get super close to them. There is an indoor exhibit to cool off.
Great place to spend the afternoon with the family. Zoo is constantly being updated so never know what new things you may come across. There is food and drinks available plenty of vending machines and places to sit and take a break. They even have cotton candy machines. It is one of the oldest and largest zoo's in Indiana.
I loved it there and the workers are very nice but the gift shop Is a bit overpriced. Here is a cute animal I saw.
Mesker zoo has a lot to offer for it's size. It is hilly and beautiful and has been around a long time. There are a lot of good exhibits. The newest attraction they have is Amazonia. It is a rain forest that you get to be a part of. It is multi level and warm year round. They do very good on their flower displays and have many types of orchids. They have a tram and paddle boats and a brand new carosel. You can help feed the girraffes every day. They also have a petting zoo. We are members there. It is a great value. We make it a routine to go many times all year instead of packing it all in one day.

The zoo is a great value especially if you get a membership. It truly pays for itself after a couple of visit. There's plenty of animals to see, a garden, and a playground.
The Mesker Zoo is by far one of my favorite places. The staff is great, the animals are happy, and the keepers know all about the animals in there charge The moment that stuck out the most was the giraffe enclosure. As we approached the giraffes we were sure that we were looking at a model giraffe. Turns out one of their females is completely comfortable with hanging out right next to you at the edge of the exhibit. At times it was less than 6 inches from us at it nibbled at the fence posts surrounding its exhibit. It turns out that she is very photogenic. And even a bit goofy!

Had a great time at the zoo! Everyone was respectful of the rules. So many of the animals were out, it was exciting.
If you have a family get a membership, it is well worth it. It is affordable education and entertainment.
The zoo has changed a lot since I was a kid. Came back to town for a visit and took the grandkids and spent about 4 hours walking around. Certain activities like the carousel, tram, giraffe and bird feeding require two tokens per person and tokens can be bought at various machines throughout the zoo. Token machine at main entrance is cash only but other machines throughout the zoo also accept credit cards. The token machine by the giraffe exhibit was a real pain to use and I had to swipe the credit card a few times to get one token to drop. I finally gave up on that machine. If you want to take a quick tour of zoo, make sure to hop aboard the little tram where you will learn a lot about some of the animals there. You can hop on and off at different stops for the duration of your time there. I am excited to come back at a later date to see the penguin exhibit that is under construction right now. Mesker Park Zoo and botanical Garden is definitely worth visiting.

We had a great half day trip to the zoo. We were in town visiting family and had half a day to kill. We are zoo members where we live and that got us 50% off to come here. My kids loved the zoo. Really cool animals we don't see at home. Rhino is my favorite, you get really close too! Plenty of shade to keep the sun off you was super nice. Some big hills though, but it's good exercise. It is a half day to see it all, but we loved what we saw in that time.
Drove from Illinois to come here and well worth it. Very clean, nice and open, nice staff. It's very pretty. Will definitely be a return member. For a short portion we even had a beautiful peacock as our guide lol.
My girlfriend and I really loved this zoo. We've been to zoos in much bigger cities Memphis, Indianapolis, Madison, WI) and for less than ten bucks, Evansville really holds its own. We spent about an hour and a half there but could have easily added another hour had we read everything. We'll definitely be back when they finish the penguin exhibit.
Great day for a zoo visit. Weather was perfect and the animals were very active. The Aviary is my son's favorite and we had a blast feeding the budgies.

This is such a cute little zoo, and I am so glad they are renovating to give the animals bigger exhibits I had so much feeding the budgies and letting them fly all around me. Not to mention feeding the Giraffe. I wish the creatures of the night was open but I totally understand why it's closed right now. The tigers exhibit is a little too small for my liking but I heard they're expanding

While it is a nice enough zoo in general, it is clearly struggling. A lot of their pathways, facilities, etc. were very worn out. Many exhibits were empty or clearly intended for more animals than were present, with at least one empty exhibit expressing that the animals within were one of the zoo's most important animals (i.e. rare), though they had been gone so long that they had been removed from the map. The zoo couldn't even be bothered to take down the signs for animals that were gone. They are building a new penguin exhibit, which was not even a construction site at the time of my visit, but the money would be better spent on repairs. They don't have much choice, however, as people won't donate to massive repair projects. The included photo does not necessarily reflect this review, but it did come from this zoo.

If I could give it zero stars I would. Very underwhelming. Very sad place. Instead of adding whatever new exhibit they are, they really need to tend to what they have. It needs it. Saddest part for me that literally almost made me cry was the tiger. It has the smallest exhibit than most. It has NO space to roam, none whatsoever. He continuously paced back and forth on the littlest pathway that was provided to him. I know he has to be bored or even depressed for that matter. That isn’t there nature. He deserves more and you have PLENTY of space to do so. Then the little bear connected to him... poor thing could even barely walk due to his nails curling underneath his paws. If you can’t provide the animals and/or tend to what they need, you need to find someone who can. St. Louis, Louisville, or even Nashville zoos would more than likely take what you cannot take care of properly. I will not be back or suggest this place to anyone, it’s truly sad.
It's clean and nice not real big they ae in the middle of remodeling some area's of the zoo so not all the animals were there but when it gets completed it should be a real nice place
Good pricing but a lot of the exhibits where closed off didn’t see much!!
Everything is currently "online reservation only", so check the homepage of the website to get tickets before attempting to stop by. Of course all drinks, food, and paid attractions are kind pricey at $6 for smart water, but the tickets themselves are pretty fairly priced.
All the animals looked sad and miserable , the we pacing back and forth like they were stressed. The tiger was teased because his/her habitat was next to other animals that they would normally hunt , they are lonely which it seemed there was only one animal of each species. Alot of the habitats are closed off and they should be using the money that they are using to build a new one , they should be using to be maintaining the ones You have already , I will not go back for awhile and definitely do not reccomend .

Smaller zoo that's good for part of a day trip to Evansville. Small enough that you can walk the paths and see everything but it not take up your full day. Very clean and kid friendly. There are several kids areas separate from the main zoo attractions for getting extra energy out or just helping them learn about conservation. They have a giraffe encounter most days at 11am and 2pm that are very easy to make part of your trip and only cost 2 of the zoo's currency that can be bought anywhere in the park before hand. It's a really cool thing to do for kids or adults. Part of the year they even have paddle boats and a carousel.
This place was great! It is spread out so expect to walk a lot, and there are some pretty steep areas. We didn't have any problems navigating through and I had a heavy toddler in a large jogging stroller to push. There are a lot of areas that just have plants and such, so there probably could stand to be some more animal habitats, but overall it's a really nice zoo. The staff are very friendly and took the time to explain the animals. It's clear they really care about them. I would definitely visit again. I've been to a lot of different animal habitats and zoos and I would recommend this one.
