As of day this business has a score of 4.2 stars over 5 and this score was based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that it has an average rating is really good, and it is based on a high number of reviews, so we may think that the rating is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to give tatings when they are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Zoo is included in the category of Zoo.
Small and quite
Pathetic, filthy, & lacking of animals. Several of the animals there were showing signs of distress. It was sad, to say the least. Certainly not worth the $33 that we paid for myself (a veteran), my wife, and our 2- small children. The staff was very nice and so polite. I felt badly for them as well. It has to be difficult for true animal lovers to see the animals being kept in those conditions. EVERYTHING there was extremely outdated and just overall disgusting. Will be our absolute last visit to The Texas Zoo. Save your money and drive to The San Antonio Zoo or just spend $5 to take your children to Skateworld.

It is a place for a short outing, has good entry discounts and is located in the city park.
I did enjoy the animals. My only complaint is vultures and buzzards have over taken the exhibit s!
Very clean and fun

It's a nice place.
This small little gem of a zoo is outstanding! The animals were all lively and seemed very happy and the proximity to the animals really shocked me. Most zoos you are very distant from the animals but here at the Victoria zoo you are able to get very close to them and that offers a much more rewarding experience! We will absolutely be back!
Very nice staff, nice zoo, can tell they've been affected by covid closure, but still a nice experience, and I think 10$ for entry is pretty cheap at anytime
A sweet little zoo, though I wish they had bats or even a few more aquatic animals.
Is a very tiny zoo and it was expensive to get in
Quite a nice zoo. Definitely worth the visit. Well maintained and the animals looked well cared for. Friendly staff.
Loved It. Had a great time. And everyone at the Zoo is so friendly. Only thing, some of the exhibits dont have names of animals to what specifically it actually is. Overall great.
Small family friendly zoo is great for the young and old alike. A leisurely 1 hour to tour the entire zoo.
The animals water was very dirty and a lot of the animals were loosing their fur or feathers. Grass was very over grown around the animals cages. Some of the animals didn’t even have water. I was very disappointed and greatly concerned for the animals well being
Really nice place, I was very surprised at all the animals they had here. Definitely on the return list.

I was a little disappointed with the zoo on this visit. I must say it was the trashiest I've ever seen it. Some of the exhibits looked poorly constructed, it was just a total mess. Probably would not go back unless it was dollar day admission or something along those lines.

The exhibits are kind of run down but my kids had a blast
Very sad. Last time I visited was about 4 years ago. Granted it's a small town zoo, and I was pleased at the time to the degree of a small town zoo. Today I was sad to see the care of the animals , lack of animals and the grounds were disturbing.. so sad . Not to mention the cost of entry . Hopeful for much needed improvement.
Nice! Needs a little work. Hopefully after Covid-19.

Nice variety of animals, and exhibits. It's not to expensive. The only thing is the reptile exhibit really stinks.
Decent little zoo in Victoria. Worth it for a single trip, but I wouldn't spend the extra money on a membership. One visit is all you need.
Nice, small zoo. Very well kept, and informative. The kids had a blast!
8 dollars for entrance ...,
My kids love it here
The people there was so friendly God bless you
We went on the discount day but when arrived we only had about 20 minutes to go through the entire thing. We drove 3 hours to only stay for a short period of time. I called ahead of time to ask how long we would have and never received a call back. Also, this place could use donations.. Very sad of the quality the animals live in.
Not very big at all, but it was perfect for my elderly client to get out of the house and do something a little more exciting while getting some exercise. The bears were the best part in my opinion. It could definitely use an update, but the people working at the zoo seemed to really care for the animals.
For a small town it was very nice. Animals well cared for & natural habitats. Technicians very informative. Interactive area being implemented. Will go back.
Went for the hunted house, so silly & fun! ????

This place is great I love to take my son here he is a year-and-a-half and he really enjoys it the people are very friendly and the price to get in this place is incredible doesn't break the bank wonderful place to take the kids and have fun with the family.

We were disappointed. Many display areas were not marked to identify the critters. The pens did not seem well groomed. Anyone w/funds should financially help this sweet place get back on its feet from Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
Nice small zoo staff answers questions with smiles
Very entertaining for kiddos!
The zoo has upgraded very much and is very fun and entertaining. Kids had a blast and us parents as well!
Weekend
This is an awesome zoo! It's small, but has lots of animals and exhibits. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They even have a mini train ride through the zoo. We spent about 2 hours here, we visited some animals more than once. Will definitely be going back to visit again.
It was a great little roadside zoo. My kids lived the bears. The animals were up and moving. Very sociable. I was disappointed the petting zoo wasn't open and its so small but the prices were still the same.
I haven't been there in a long time enjoyed seeing the bears

Not much to look at
I worked at the zoo in 2019 to 2020 it was harsh but now in 2021 with the new management that is at the zoo its amazing you walk in and it's not the same zoo.. its clean doesn't stink the grounds are welcoming and the new management is amazing I highly recommend you going to the zoo if you have not been in a while.. you will be very impressed with the changes that were made and I can't wait to see what else changes in the near future
Incredible zoo. I was able to touch those lovely animals.
First time visitors, we found zoo to be somewhat disappointing, small, run-down looking, nothing to brag about or share with others. Appears a good cleaning might help.
Great small zoo. You won't find the animals you would at the Houston Zoo or San Antonio zoo but it's great to see your kids eyes light up at the bear or petting a skunk. Plus it's for a good cause. I pay for the yearly membership (I think it's $60 for my kid and I). It's a great deal to go as many times as you want and the drinks and snacks aren't outrageously priced like you might think.
Staff is very friendly....good place for toddlers...its small not big like other zoos...but we so enjoyed it...

Extremely small zoo. However, everyone was super sweet. The guy at the ticket booth was super nice and informative. We actually called on Christmas Day and they answered. We drove 3 hours to see the foxes the next day for my daughter. One of the zoo keepers changed the feeding time an hour up to accommodate us. She fed the fox and told my daughter all about it while in the cage with it. One time experience that we are forever grateful for!
Good zoo, small space so don't expect big animals

Had fun at Zoo Boo at the Texas Zoo. Happy to see the zoo recovering from Hurricane Harvey damage.
$11–15
Clean, good prices, different animals, small, but great Zoo to take the kids and learn and have fun.
Great zoo for kids... Lots of interactions with animals... Just big enough to draw interest and not tire you out on a hot day... Small enough to make you want to come back. An added plus is the property around the zoo... Park, golf course, rose garden and not to mention the river...makes for a ???????? summer say for the family
Awesome my five year old got to feed the animals And I got great pictures for life
Up to 10 min
Took my kids to zoo boo which was good with all the booths. Just didn't think the appearance when you walk out is all that appealing. Looks a bit unkept where there aren't any animals. A grass cut would definitely help and maybe a few more animals would be great. Overall though my kids (1 and 7) had a blast looking at the animals.
Nice little zoo for a smaller city.
Fantastic amazing zoo top professional staff friendly and it's a rescue zoo love it . It is worth a visit

Sometimes I just open up the Googles and find a city on the map I've never been too, and then look to see what their claim to fame is. And that's how we ended up at the Texas Zoo in Victoria, TX. Tiny place, but extremely reasonable prices, run down and in bad need of a face lift, yet was pretty cool. You get unusually close to the animals which makes for a unique experience. I could smell the Bears nasty breath as he brushed up to thr fence 2 feet away from us. We coukd have been in and out in 30 minutes, but we did stretch it out to about 90 minutes goofing off and playing pokemon. :)
We love this place. The employees are so informative and patient & the animals are so very awesome!

A must see for all animal lovers. Care givers are highly professional and truly love the animals dependent on their care. The wildlife tour is one of the greatest animal experience we have ever done.

Good place for kids and familiy. They have got planty different animals. Im little concerned about the animals because they don't look good like they used to before. Please take better care of them.
Small zoo, you can see everything in like half hour.
Myself, a senior citizen and my daughter were visiting Victoria and made this our first stop. It was a delightful outing and we enjoyed viewing the animals and seeing the little children in awe.
Cute zoo, lots of animals for a hidden gem.

Very small; but lovely! I'd say it's a great little zoo, but not really a day-long experience like large zoos. You can at max spend about 3 hours here before running out of things to look at.
Small but really great for small children. Very manageable for about 1.5 hour visit on a weekday morning - get in, see everything, get out in time for nap : ). Staff are great about talking to kids and if you get there in the morning you will get to see them feeding and bringing the animals out of their night houses. They add different items to enrich the environment for each animal and will explain to you why and how they do what they do. For example, the jaguars were fascinated by a pine tree sprayed in...ocelot urine. Weird but fascinating to little boys.
Still working on recovery from Hurricane Harvey. Lots of exhibits closed or no animals. In my opinion, admission fee is a little high for what you get.
Amazing! Shawn and Colony really help learning about the animals. Well worth the money.

Small zoo that has a surprising collection of animals that was a blast to view with the family.
It's a great lil place just noticed there water in there living spaces is very green and didn't look great ..thats about it ..very friendly.
Different than the Houston zoo experience, much smaller and way more personal. This is a great place for kids and adults of all ages. Great place.

Just the cutest little Zoo. It is in desperate need of patronage. Please support this little gem! It is perfect for parents with little ones. Just enough zoo to keep them interested but the parents not exhausted ????

It's a small zoo, but it makes up for it in personality and interactivity. Like other reviewers mention, you can get very close to the animals in their enclosures, which my toddler loved. The shows and classes ate educational and fun.

Great place. I have taken my family several times. It is small, but a great value.
It was a nice little zoo. Just wish it was a little bigger.
Cute little zoo to visit!
It was so fun..
Yesterday, my husband and sister-in-law requested a "tourist" visit away from Rockport, so I chose the Texas Zoo. Wow! We are still big kids in our 60's. Colton and Jeremy entertained us with an up-close visit of the animals. We touched, awed, and asked many animal questions. These handlers are young but so knowledgeable! Drizzle rain and cold yet we spent 2 hours in this small zoo. Awesome! We'll return after the lions move before we move away from our winter Texan home this year. Glad to hear they have plans to expand so we will return next year to see the progress.
(Translated) Tremendous and very clean. (Original) Tremendo y muy limpio.
Sort of small, but... everything was clean and the animals are in appropriate habitats. I have been to zoos all over Texas and can normally find something to complain about, but this time we were pleasantly surprised. Zoo is nestled in a family friendly park within a very nice neighborhood AND the price is fair. Most zoos opt for cheaper area to save money. We plan to go back. Fingers crossed on the stage getting a makeover so we can sit for a lesson or two about the animals. Way to go, The Texas Zoo Victoria!

Love this little zoo, my wife and I will be returning this weekend. I have been to much larger zoo like The Dallas Zoo, Texas Zoo is so quaint and I feel my wife and I have a better experience. Here we get to interact with some of the animals.
Beautiful place great for entertaining and just to get out of the house
Fun fun fun
It was their Halloween Haunted Zoo and it was crazy fun.
It's a small Zoo but it's a good place for children to learn about animals.
This place definitely needs some TLC from the maintenance department. Completely run down and no water or fans for the animals. Watch out as there is poison ivy/oak all over the place. Definitely not what it used to be. Animals need to be better cared for.
I had no idea this place was in Victoria. Must say its nice & small. The animals were actually moving around unlike the Houston Zoo. Definitely would return.

(Translated) I wasn't expecting a big Zoo, but something small and pretty. Zoo is in sad shape. Budget doesn't allow proper upkeep for property or enclosures.
Amazing! Love this zoo. Its a good size zoo for the price & every time we drive into town we also go there. My son enjoys it very much! Definitely recommend!
Very small walk it in hour.
Daughter wanted to see the tiger but apparently it's gone
The zoo stinks horrible as you walk into pay. There wasn’t any water for bathrooms ???? or to wash hands and just all around wasn’t takin care of the upkeep at all around the whole zoo...
Awesome!!!
Animals are well attended to and most appear to be rescues. Area was clean and a children's camp was in session. We had a great time and was able to pet and feed a lot of the animals.
Sad place
Very small
Very small zoo, they love there animals. Two female lions a female and male Jaguar are the main attractions
Took my 14 month old. We’ve been before and still enjoyed it. There is some enclosures closed due to construction from the hurricane. I love seeing the Jaguars because they are very engaging. Staff is friendly. Zoo is good size so it doesn’t overwhelm kids. Wish the petting zoo was open.
Great small zoo. Nice getaway
I enjoyed the petting zoo. This zoo needs money and serious work. Small children will enjoy. Many of the enclosures seem kind of thrown together and not clean. Especially sad for the bald eagles not having room to go higher. Did not see any snakes and that would have been a good feature to help people identify them.
Nice place to visit..
It is a small zoo but good for the little kids less than 10. My kids enjoyed to get close to the animals without harming each others.
It's a nice local zoo.
Had lots of fun.

This place was was so sad and run down!! Not to be negative!! Just being honest!! We took our youngest son for his first "zoo experience" and it was a waste of money and time!! Thank goodness he's only 15 months and probably won't remember!!

Great place, still rebuilding but an overall enjoyable experience.

We enjoyed seeing the bear... and the parrot... but I am giving this 3 stars because when we went, the petting zoo was closed. Also please remember that this is a small city... and so expect a small zoo... NOTE... It will probably take you an hour at the most to go through it all unless you are going for an encounter or class. Blessings.

It's a small but cozy zoo with a lot to offer. Last time I paid a little bit extra to do a personal encounter with a skunk, which my daughter loved. This time with, we paid a little extra to do a close encounter with the 2 bears. It was amazing. The bears are very emotional and happy to see you with the staff. We found out the bears will do anything for peanut butter.

Loved it!! Really nice place. Thoroughly enjoyed the bear's!
This is a Good place to take The kids its not the biggest zoo I have ever been to but it's nice and the people that take care of things here are great they do a great job.
Room for a double/side by side stroller to access the entire place. Fun and not too big to be overwhelming. Just enough for the kids to enjoy but not get worn out from the heat. We all had a great time and would definitely go back if we were in the area. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.
They have fixed it up really nice, the kids had a blast!
Weekday
Great zoo for an hour long zoo trip. And inexpensive too.
Personalized Experience! Really grateful to Jay, Liz, Alex, and the rest of the staff at The Texas Zoo for working with me to get a great Wildlife Encounter package. They set up a package for me and my fiancé to come and meet/interact with about a dozen different animals. So many memorable experiences like hand feeding bears and tong feeding jaguars, having birds perch and fly to us, holding a lemur, playing with and petting a lynx, and so much more. And even though they had birthday parties, vet visits, renovations to supervise, a special event to set up, and the regular amount of guests, the entire staff was extremely friendly and made us feel more part of the zoo rather than customers. Anyone reading this should definitely stop by and visit and tryout a wildlife interaction or two, or try them all it is beyond worth it and they may throw in some extra bonus visits. So again extremely helpful staff, very educational experience, amazing animals, and an experience we will never forget. I could write an entire essay for a review and not do you guys justice, thanks again.
Nice little zoo. The staff will always stop to answer questions.
I want to like this zoo more than I do. It has some great things going for it. Even though it's small, it's also got some character and there are never any crowds. However, it's also pretty gross; the smell in the reptile house is disgusting. It's simple things like this that could definitely attract more people to this zoo.
Was not all that . A lot of farm animals at the zoo, landscaping was horrible , were short staffed , lots of animals missing and to top it off , very expensive for the very few animals they did have there.
loved the zoo, the beautiful animals such as the jaguar, bears, primates, birds and cool little armadillos and possums that are easily spotted in there inclosers and the ability to see them up close, through gates of course, however a great experience for family with the zoo not being crazy crowded allowing you to truely enjoy and learn to love those lovely animals. the employees are nice and very helpful and the zoo is very well kept, the zoo also has the ability for you to get right up to animals such as peacocks, turkeys, pigs and there crazy for food goats which we watched for several minutes, this zoo is by far my favorite and i cant wait to go again.
Unbelievable collection of animals, fowl and reptiles from all over the world. My family spent over 5 hours here and it seemed like we were only here for and hour or two.
Small zoo but can have a lot of fun it's also located in a park with lots of things to do
One of the greatest of the smaller zoos in TX that I’ve visited. So far, I’ve been a total of 3 times, but very definitely plan to be a return visitor in the future AND will also DEFINITELY recommend this place to as many animal lovers I know. ????
I love going to the Texas zoo
When I went it was awesome people were very nice and helpful
Over all very cool but walked in 20 minutes
Small but a very good zoo to enjoy.
Nice, small, hot. 10 dollars each to get in. A lot of things closed and animals not there. No refreshments.
Zoo had gone through a lot because of hurricane Harvey. It's a small zoo, but they save a lot of animals, which is not a small thing.
It's a smaller zoo but nonetheless very fun and exciting. The son loved it . He was scared of the snakes but loved the alligator lol
At first glance, the zoo looks tiny from the outside; once you are actually inside, it is not that small. There is a decent variety of animals here. Could be better, but it was worth it. There were no lines outside, we got in fast and had most of the zoo to ourselves- there was only a couple other families and guests when we visited on a Saturday. The free range animals, like the peacocks, get really close to you and you are able to feed them pellets (quarters only). Other animals like the bears and the primates were also not shy and walked up to the barriers- which is neat if you want to look at them up close. They also had a few red wolves- which is astonishing considering the fact that they are a critically endangered species and there are very few red wolves left in the wild. As far as service, the woman at the front desk was really friendly and helpful. The other staff did not speak to us, so I cannot comment on them. Overall, we had a great experience and will be back next time we are in town!

Awful !!! Lots of things closed, just a circle with 6 animals at most! .. It would of been good to know it was under construction ... nothing on website or infront.. it actually says petting zoo was open and it wasn't.... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND COME HERE
Not so much a zoo, more like a rescue. All the animals here are rescued. Worth the the drive from Corpus. Fun Fact : Both bears were on Jimmy Fallon with Robert Irwin as Cubs. They also have where you can interact with the animals for a small fee.
Small but awesome!
Enjoy taking our grandchildren there.
Not too many exhibits, felt bad for animals, a lot of remodeling needs to be done, and can use a lot of attention to guests. Definitely not what it was 20 years ago. Hopefully it gets the funding it desperately needs

Best place to take your kids my grandkids Love the animals
This zoo needs major help and funding. The habitats are depressing and unmotivating for the animals. The grounds are unclean. Many of the exhibits were empty of animals. The animals we saw were lethargic. The feathers on the large birds were worn off. It was a sad, sad depressing place to visit and I felt terrible for the animals that had to live there!
A very unique zoo in Victoria if your stopping by,or staying in Victoria.I recommend the whole family to go,and experience the abundance of exotic and non exotic animals.
The workers are so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable! The animals are sweet and interesting, it’s easy to see their individual personalities. I like this more because it feels more like strolling through a private collection then a traditional zoo. I’m closer to a lot of the animals, and several of them are rescued animals from the wild and domestic situations. I personally, love supporting rescued animals!

Very nice zoo. It seems Covid has taken it's toll on some of the human aspects like benches but the animals are in nice habitats and very well taken care of. It's obvious the staff treats them well as they are curious about their human visitors. They also have precautions in place to keep the animals protected from the corona virus.
Pretty cool zoo.Me and my wife enjoyed it.

I used to not like small zoos when I was younger... but, most of these animals are rescued from people who thought how great it would be to have a wild animal as a pet. The staff really care for these animals - and it shows. They all seemed happy and playful (the animals AND the staff lol). I was there on a Sunday - I hope the locals support the facility better than what I saw - I think we were the only one's there.

I love this place. There are new exhibits. Nice upgrades; great for a short excursion, a much smaller type zoo with few, but amazing exhibits.
Very relaxing I loved the animals

Love this zoo.
Always a pleasant experience. The tortoises gavr us a show too...jaja Loved the new gift shop.. Need to have concessions open.
I know winter is just ending and we just went thru an epic winter vortex but. This was the first time I'd been to the Texas Zoo in six years. What a disappointment, grounds were terrible, most of the exhibits were dirty and full of weeds, empty exhibits just not as I remembered. I know the zoo struggles with funding and maybe it's time to down sized. Sorry for such a negative review.
Small
It's a Quant small Zoo. But always fun to see the different wildlife.
Very relaxing, rather small but they have a nice selection of Texas animals and rescues. Excellent place to take the family for a nice outting.
So upsetting that the Petting Zoo is closed.
Love the interaction with the animals
Wonderful little zoo perfect size for little ones who can tire easily. Love that they have managed to find a way to have an exhibit the kids can interact with animals.
Small zoo but it has a lot of potential. Covid hit it pretty hard. TLC is needed to bring it back. Staff was super friendly and helpful and full of knowledge. We will come back.
The Texas Zoo is always fun to go to. It is small, but it has so much too see and the staff are packed full of information. They have peacocks that roam around. They are so beautiful and they keep the place very clean. I haven't been to another zoo that you can see the animals so up close. Come check it out for yourself.
Small. Over run with folage. Many of the enclosures where closed for repair. Entrance not chep.
They have made some improvements from when we were last there a few yrs ago and created a new indoor area with more new animals.
Amazing
I was extremely disappointed. It looked like I was in someone's back yard. There is a lot of maintenance needed and animals need to be in better condition. The animal enclosures were poorly constructed. This should not be considered a zoo. Looks like someone's farm.
Victoria needs to invest in this place it has so much potential
Great!
Very nice, small but you can see some great animals.
Great place to spend the day
Not as big like it used to be,because of Hurricane "HARVEY."
Friendly environment and staff
Very sweet place! Informative and friendly staff. Loved it.
It's a beautiful Zoo
Small
They're doing their best to clean up after the hurricane
We LOVE our hometown zoo!
Loved my experience here! All the animals were so active and would walk up to the fences to say hello, unlike the bigger zoos where the animals are hidden or sleeping all day. I also did the lynx encounter and it was so amazing! I learned so much about the species and they do an amazing job at the Texas zoo! Totally worth it and will for sure be going back soon!
Covid safe
Amazing place for family.
Like the zoo here
This is an amazing zoo, so many different species and lots of information about them. I've had the privilege of seeing the place update and change over the years!
Loved the Macaws.. it was nice.
Cute zoo with nice exhibits. The peacocks are fun to watch walking around! Clean areas and friendly staff.
Nice
Our favorite zoo.... the are definitely larger ones and such and they are good in their own right but this place always feels more personal. The staff is always very nice and we always seems to experience something unique and special when we visit with the animals.
Loved it ....me and ma baby love it
Photos here are of the Haunted Zoo! It's a lot of fun and pretty scary for a small town event, and lots of participants in costumes and props. Sound effects, foggers, and fun! I volunteered as a zombie in a black robe, and it was pretty fun and they provided free pizza to all volunteers. The zoo itself doesn't have as many animals as a larger town would, but it's still a nice zoo to visit. *edit added some recent photos of the zoo and animals it’s nice for a small town zoo it really is :)*
(Translated) I loved it (Original) Megusto.mucho
Kids really enjoyed it. Liked that there were paved paths and the glass viewing areas for kids to really see the animals. Only down side was the zebra and deer exhibit didn't allow closer viewing. Great time for kids.
Spent mothers day weekend it was nice. If you want to get really close to the animals this is the zoo to do it. Not very big but a nice little spot.
Great place
We were very disappointed. We drove a couple hours to Victoria mainly to visit the zoo. It was a beautiful day and we had high hopes. We felt we were over charged at $19.00 for our two senior priced tickets. Many of the enclosures were empty. It wasn’t clean. Some animals were stressed and pacing.

From California, then moved to Arizona. We're season pass holders from phoenix zoo...nice place, huge, enjoyed every acre of it. New to Victoria, loved the simple interactions with the creatures from the lone star state. BEST ZOO VISIT EVER!! Yes it's small, yes it is TEXAS. Your zoo rocks!! Best zoo we have ever been to, even with covid. "Awesomely badacious, totally tubular to the max bras and we so enjoyed the cool waves of freedom in the lone star zoo dudeskies"! How can we help you?
Very good animal exhibits and knowledgeable staff.
Had a good time Thanks! Recommended!

Love the zoo and the atmosphere. Daughter enjoyed going to the zoo for entertainment and educational purposes. Thank you all for the hospitality shown towards us . We appreciate that!

The zoo was a lot less than expected. But it is a zoo that has mostly TX wildlife. Kids had fun seeing critters. Plan on going on a day that is bearable outside.
I love everything About this place.

It was ok. They needed to weedeat badly and label the animals.
Friendly and clean.
Cute zoo. I love how people are able to interact with some of the animals and the peacocks????????
Clean and well plotted.
It was quiet. Not too crowded. The zoo keepers seemed to really love the animals and really wanted us to learn the best we could about them. There was a gift shop for souvenirs and an adorable train ride that the children can ride on for a little history of the zoo.
Haven't gone since my 2 were little now we have a little grandchild... amazed just of how many animals were there ..loved how the sea otters came out to greet us
Clean facility, friendly staff
This zoo needs a lot of help!!!! Every animal there was living in hell. Not one happy animal there other then the free roaming peacocks. Very disappointed that the website talks about all the updates after the hurricane yet it looks like the hurricane hit yesterday. I felt like I was walking through a prison and every animal had a small confined death sentence. Made me depressed just walking through. Of course kids love it they just see a kool animal. I saw sadness though.
Fantastic little zoo
Great interaction
We love visiting the Texas do it so awesome my son loves all the animals there
I feel really bad for the animals who have plastic surroundings instead of real plants and what not to live with... Couldn't you guys create a better habitat for some of these creatures to give them a better quality of life? If I lived closer I would most definitely be there, volunteering; I love this place! Today, the bears gave us a "hi-5" though the fence but I forgot to ask the staff if they're actually friendly or if he (or she) was waving for me to leave them alone ????
Had more animals than I thought. A lot of closed attractions. Its spring break and there was actually a good crowd. The prices were reasonable. Animal interaction was very good. The time of day we went all the animals were sleeping. That would be around 12:30. Overall good fun for the kids.
Very cool little zoo. Pretty nice way to spend an hour or so if your in the area.
The zoo is smaller than most, but it's easy to interact and have a closer look at the animals here than any other zoo I've been to. Felt like the staff certainly enjoyed their jobs and were knowledgeable when we asked questions. There just seemed to be too few staff members. They were mostly cleaning and tending to the animals so they weren't very available for attendees. Reptile exhibit was full of snakes that are local to Texas. It was warm inside the building, but the adorable out of place baby black squirrel made us forget that. Loved being able to walk through the aviary, but wished the nectar feeding area was opened. Cashier told us the nectar feeding cage closed because the fencing wasn't good enough to keep the little birds in. The facilities in general felt run down, and leaning toward inadequate. That's why four stars instead of five. The petting zoo was... different. Two emus, sheep and a deer. It's fenced without entry. You're basically lined up on a deck, feeding these animals bird seed through the railings. Careful for those emus. I don't recommend letting kids feed them.
The zoo is hidden pretty far back into a residential neighborhood. There was no obvious signage directing to the zoo. It was surprisingly small, my kids were done within 40 minutes even taking their time. It's not badly kept up or anything, just small.
It’s small, but at least they have a zoo. And it’s very cute. The staff is friendly.
I was in the Riverside Park but not at the Texas zoo.

You have to see this. Some rescue birds and 3 Bald Eagles nice zoo. Feed some and see the bears play. Lol
Great family place. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Weekend
Fun place for family and kids , but it’s hot in Houston so be wise when you choose the daytime
Clean and good fun. Very interactive.
Was in Victoria for work and stopped by the Texas Zoo, staff were super friendly. Small humble zoo, doesn't take all day to visit but no e to go & support when bored. The animals loved having visitors... This was a nice experience, fed the free roaming birds, and the goats/deer/turkey/emu/sheep at petting zoo... because the zoo is smaller, this is a great place to bring elderly for something to do, it would be enough walking with places to stop and rest if they felt exhausted... great first zoo for a child to visit as well, clean restrooms on site.
(Translated) Small but beautiful, you need to grow it (Original) Pequeño pero bonito, hace falta crecerlo
Great family experience! Friendly staff.
It's too small. The staff did have good knowledge of the animals that they brought out though.
Small but very cute! Worth at least one visit. They have rescued animals so definitely help them out with a visit or donation!
love the Eagels
Nice local attraction!
The staff are friendly. This is a tiny zoo and I know others have left poor reviews but some of these animals are rescue and that takes funds to stay open. I would go here again if I found myself in Victoria again. If those complaining dislike it so much then make donations to this zoo so they can make the experience for the animals and visitors better.
Love this place. For a small zoo, they have good selection

Thd Texas Zoo needs your contributions!
Best time ever!! Everyone was so friendly and animal encounters are great!!!!
Cute zoo....wish we had more to look at but all in all they still have Elvis....go visit him in the reptile section....he use to be a member or victoria lube and car care.
Not there
Kids had lots of fun
Me & my little family went today & I remembered when the zoo looked so amazing & clean but I was soooo disappointed on how it looked today none of the grass were cut all of the animal areas were filthy you could hardly see the animals with all the tall grass & long tree branches. The eagles are my favorite but when I seen theyer area it was so disappointing. Just hope they can clean it up nicer I would love to take my baby back again .

love it
This zoo is perfect for young kids. It takes about 2 hours if you really go slow through the thing, and the animals are so close the kids can stay engaged. Some of the larger zoos give the animals a place to hide, but not here. If the animal is listed you are going to see them which is great. Awesome place for kids!
Weekday
Great place for young kids. Not to big that they get overwhelmed
A great little zoo with healthy animals. Yeah they take good care of the animals and the employees have a good relationship with their little friends. A great place to take the kids. If you can go during the week it is like the zoo is all yours without a crowd.
This zoo may be small, but I love it. I like it much better than the Houston zoo, even though the Houston zoo is much bigger. The Texas zoo has better programs, is more educational, and everyone who works there is always friendly and happy to talk about the animals. My family has visited from out of town repeatedly over the years, and we always have a great time.
Was to small
Small and a little pricey but you can get close to animals that's the only thing that saves them. I got great video of the jags up close and the girl was in heat so that was cool...
Friendly, knowledgeable staff, amazing animals, great place for a birthday party.
Great family fun. My kids love it.
The zoo seemed very poorly kept, Grass wasn't well kept and everything was dirty and didn't look very well taken care of. Me and my family were very disappointed.
Cool
Small, well kept zoo. My only complaint is about the raccoon and fox exhibit. The raccoon was trying to mate with the fox. The poor fox just laid there, like it was use to it. I was there for several hrs and each time i passed the exhibit i saw the same thing Parents were leading their children past to avoid seeing it. My concern is more for the fox. The fox couldnt move or walk. These 2 drfinatly need to be separated.
Small, and animals should not be kept in cages. It's sad.
I was charged 21.50 and seen nothing i told them they just said oh well very bad service
Love Animals

We have visited every year for the last six years. It isn't the biggest zoo, but it is fun and a great afternoon.
$6–10
Really loved this place.
Price for adult entry
I enjoyed it. Would have liked better access to the otter. Took about an hour to go through.
Forcing children 2 years of age and over to wear masks in the South Texas heat of summer is nothing but child abuse. Plain and simple.
Was a little smaller the expected but we had a wonderful time and the staff is very friendly

My son and I were visiting the area from Montana (him) and Idaho (me) for a long weekend to relax. We spent a morning at The Texas Zoo and had a blast. The jaguars were by far the best as they engaged us and were a lot of fun. Very much enjoyed the other critters as well. We highly recommend The Texas Zoo!
I love animals and this place broke my heart for them... 55 bucks and I could only stay about 15 minutes horrible

Cute little zoo
It's nice, but small.
Nice for family fun...
Very small, finished looking at everything in 30 mins
Took my son there. We hwf a blast. He's never been. Really enjoyed feeding the birds by had. He's never seen A Peacock before...that kinda scared him. Gifts were not to expensive. Got plenty of souvenirs! He'll remember this visit for sure! Thanks Victoria Zoo!!!
Small place with a BIG heart! Loved it. Took my 15, 9, and 2 yr olds. They enjoyed the roaming peacocks, took photos with them, sat with them and fed them, and loved feeding the deer. It was hot and they didn't complain. We just enjoyed the time there. Support this gem!! Cute small town getaway. Gift shop. Affordable. The macaw was talking to us. Under construction. They are adding a concession stand and patio. But i'll be honest, I went for the peacocks. My girls are obsessed. We were not disappointed. Take mosquito spray! Customer service was PERFECT!! From the front door check in to leaving. Thank you for making our little visit great you guys!
Clean and well maintained zoo.

This is zoo was so depressing. The animals were all laying down unmotivated in their environments. It was so hot and they had filthy water and no fans. I felt so bad for them. I really wish this place would get shut down and these animals had a better home to go to. Just sad.
We only had an hour to kill before we had to head home, so we decided to stop here & let me tell ya, IT IS AWESOME! The fee to get in is not ridiculously expensive & it’s not a huge zoo so we could actually enjoy each exhibit without feeling rushed. Definitely would recommend ????????

Perfect for kids. Staff is friendly
Weekday
Took my grandkids. They love the area. It's not a big place and I like that it's enclosed.
Staff is awesome!!
Nice little zoo to take a stroll... This zoo is in center of the park which has acres and acres of grass and trees. The zoo itself is fairly small but very nice for a stroll with several large trees to provide shade on the walk ways. Pretty quite too enjoy the animal. The price is a bit for what you're seeing since you can walk the entire zoo in 30mins or less. Other than that a nice place to visit.
We enjoyed every aspect of the Texas Zoo. The set-up of the habitat enclosures is both animal and viewer friendly. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and informative, and were helpful to visitors of all ages. The Primate Experience was especially terrific! We came on a Groupon and will definitely be back.
It's a small zoo but it was FUN! We took our 18 month old and he was running around with the peacocks. He fed all the birds, and the peacocks were not afraid to be near us. It's really nice to see how close we can get with the animals. also make sure to check out the rattlesnakes they can feel someone nearby and they would rattle when anyone came up.
Sad animal prison. The keepers seem nice, but these animals definitly need more space and more natural-like environments than they're given here. The birds and raccoons were the only ones that didn't seem depressed.
Had an amazing time. Loved getting to feed the animals and everyone had a smile. Hope to go back soon.
Cute little zoo. Perfect for Victoria.
I recently visited and loved this little zoo. While the zoo is smaller we were able to see all the animals very clearly. All the kids had a great time. We went early on a Saturday morning and the crowd was very small. We will be heading back for sure.
Always fun. Great for kids ????
Best place ever
For the admission price, not bad. Especially if you have kids. Its a small zoo but a nice variety of animals to see. Went during the heat of the day so some of the animals were snoozing.
Small and the snake house stunk so bad it made my eyes water. The animals looked totally bored.
Very Small, expensive for what is there and most of all the exhibits were closed.
Haunted zoo was fun
Good for a small zoo.
Just an awesome little place and friendly staff. Thanks James Cribbs for making it amazing and worth the drive. I will share this Gem Spot with my friends. Good ole fashion fun. Sharon
You can feed rabbits, peacocks and other birds! They still require masks, which I appreciate. And I love that most of their animals are Texas natives, so they're promoting wildlife where we live.
They have BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS.
$6–10

They love their animals and an can give. You a full history of every one of them. Its clean and we'll managed.
We loved it. Small in size, but big enough to enjoy. No elephants or giraffes, but they do have bears & jaguars! Snakes, alligators, eagles, birds, ect...Very glad they made it thru this pandemic.
Don't miss this little zoo!
Too little.
Great little zoo.
Nice zoo friendly staff. I wish they would trim all that jungle in from and around zoo I think many more humans would visit.
Their animals were NOT tooken care of what so ever they were over heating in the sun their enclosure were just terrible
It's so neat! It's a small zoo that seems to be expanding, though I wish the snake habitat had been open whenever I went! Definitely recommend for families with smaller children going through Victoria!
Eh, you get what you pay for. They did have a lot under some type of construction so hopefully they're making improvements. The animals seemed healthy and the various free roaming birds were cool.if you're traveling through it's worth a stop.
Took our Riley there for his birthday, he even got complementary lettuce for the rabbit ,Thank you
Loved it there. That zoo is awesome
It was small. But really cool to see all The critters. And hang out with my kid
Awesome
Great place to take Grandchildren & great Grandchildren!
It was a great way to get up close and personal with the birds
Was a wonderful experience! I loved the animals. However every enclosure had water in it expect for the bear encloser. They were licking the water line that would normally give them water I assume and seemed quite upset they had no water. They also didn't have food in the cage like the other animals. If you look at the photo I attached of the bears you can see the bigger bear licking a water line with no water coming out. Hoping next time we go it's different. The emu and the turkey are the best
Very cute but small and everything was shut down. But we enjoyed our selves
Not big but you get your moneys worth
Perfect.
Awesome and friendly staff! ????????????????????????????????????
Public holiday
Good zoo. Something to do. Animals seem a little malnourished or could be taken care of a little more, as well as the exhibits themselves. Seemed not kept up with. My little girl still enjoyed it. She's been there twice
I went to that zoo on July 25 and I loved it. I petted a baby alligator and I petted a python too.
No wait
Small town zoo love it
Had a great time and my kids loved it
Very small but nice. I enjoyed it.
I would have given a score of excellent for all if not for the person at the refreshment kiosk. They have rescued most of the birds and animals!
Not alot of animals you can walk through in 30 minutes
No
This is a very small zoo, but all animals are rescues from accidents and from being peoples pets.... the staff were all very nice and knowledgable... not allot of signs as far as identifying each animal, but still an amazing experience... the do educational stuff and feedings as well.... overall we had a very good time and the kiddo enjoyed it very much, made this an enjoyable experiance and a good time.....I would recommend this for a weekend excursion, just make sure to line up other activities and such as this isn't an all day trip...
A small, but nice local zoo
We really enjoy this zoo. It's small enough that we don't lose track of our grandkids, yet they have a variety of animals. They are always working to improve and add features. They have live animal shows on weekends where we learn about some of the residents.
Recovering slowly after Harvey. Grandkids still enjoy it.
So this was a very small zoo. I am so glad we had a memebership at another zoo that allowed us to get the tkts half off cause it would not have been worth oaying full price for a family of 5. I think we did get our money's worth of what we did pay. It's small but you are closer to some of the animals than other zoos and my kids still loved it. Dont expect to see many animals but the staff was very friendly. The rabbits were the main attraction for my kids.
Loved it!
It's a ok place It's small good for small children
Disappointed. Poor animals. Place was dirty and falling down.
My grandkids love it it's all that matters
Small and quaint
Awesome experience

This is a quaint, cozy zoo that focuses on Texas species. The staff was delightful, animals happy and well cared for. Can't wait to come back!!
Family oriented and very informative staff. Had a good time
Well there isnt much in victoria so its was nice to see but I have to say wish the entertained more for the price you pay we walked threw in 10 min and barely any staff to be seen loved the leopards but seems they could use more toys or something to do as well
A very small zoo but we'll worth seeing. Fun for the kids check it out
Had a great time, well kept enclosures and beautiful animals...
We had a great time. My 7 year old daughter loved it. We're from Houston area but she says we have to come back to visit Zoey the barn cat ???????? Popeye was my favorite
We had an absolutely great day. The workers were amazing. They were very informative and interacted with the boys. We WILL BE BACK!! VERY NICE ZOO!
Please free the animals to good sanctuaries.

Wasn't worth $21 very disappointing not a lot of exhibits open and some of the exhibits that were open didn't have animals in them
Small but very nice
Small zoo. Pretty fun if you're bored. Cute sheeps
Came into Victoria to attend the University of Houston Victoria, ring ceremony to obtain my college ring. Jax and Sophia the official mascot blessed the rings, and had to see them in person while in town. Go Jags!!!! A wonderful zoo not overly large but definitely worth seeing. Other animals featured are the American alligator, black bears, including free roaming peacocks. There is a petting zoo where you can feed animals also. The zoo features for a small fee a close up experience, with Jax & Sophia along with other animals if you choose. A small zoo but they are still recovering after Hurricane Harvey's devastation from a few years ago. Had a amazing time there and couldn't go wrong seeing Jax and Sophia. Go Jags!!! #uhvringday
Quality has declined drastically. It took me only 15 minutes to walk through this place. There are barely any animals and they all pace, whine, and look miserable. Nothing is mowed or landscaped. The whole place smells like urine, even outside. I used to LOVE this zoo but it's not what it used to be. I hope they fix it before it collapses.
For the location and size, this is a nice zoo. It's a great place to bring your kids for a quick outing. The whole zoo tour is about 2hrs long if you arent watching the presentations.
Prices high for what animals they have.
Enjoyed how close you can be to the animals. Got there around feeding time and workers were so friendly and informative. Small zoo but great animals.

Very small. Not many animals were out when we went. Very pricey for what you're getting
Weekend
I was hoping for a bit more since we drove a long way to get there. My children, ages 3 to 7 really enjoyed spending an hour at the zoo, seeing all exhibits twice and playing in the grassy area with a choo choo train structure. Their favorite part was feeding the goats. The zoo needs more signage with the animal names, at the least. It would also be really nice to be able to read more info about the animals. (ie: I'd love to know where the Bald Eagles came from.)
Awesome place to enjoy the animals.
Really nice small zoo.nice animals including all my favorites!
Nice and peaceful place to visit.

Nice little zoo for a town of this size.
Nice place, nice staff, good place to spend a few hours. Missing info plaques at some exhibits other than that a great place.

Some of the exibits need more water And the eagles need more room

I haven't been here since I was a kid. We decided to go and I was suprised how much of it has changed. We went when there was very few people. It was a nice, small zoo. My family enjoyed it.
Great place to bring the family
Weekend
Very very quiet place to get you mind of things for a minute, or just a little quality time with you family. You have to worry about a big crowd for your kids to run in and get lost. Just a perfect little place to enjoy.
Weekend
Fun!
The zoo is always a place to learn about the wild. The staff was friendly, they take in refuge animals that cannot return to the wild. It really needs a face lift maybe government grant to help it out. It is in a nice location and does have a lot to offer families. Not a lot of walking and designed in circular pattern. There were a lot of families visiting because it was $1 day. That wa as an incentive to get many families in there.
Smells like animals. Idk why
On this last visit in Jan 2017 could not believe the smell in the snake exhibit. Really unbearable Was the dirtiest I've ever seen it
Price for adult entry
Great little zoo!!
This is a cute zoo! Small zoo, but it felt like an intimate animal experience. The staff was friendly & knowledgeable about the animals. They clearly care greatly for the animals!????
The exhibits were not maintained. The whole place was messy. The alligators had no water to cool off. No signage on a lot of cages. Didn’t know what to look for or if the cage was empty. Not a pleasant experience.
Lots of fun for the kiddos
Yes
I hadn't been to the Texas zoo in over 10 years and was pleasantly surprised at the facility and animals. The staff was pleasant also. We encountered a supervised feeding of the bears which was really interesting.
Fixed up nice since the flood. We like the new set up. The cages that hold rabbits you can feed. You can purchase lettuce in the store. You can also pet them at times when a handler brings one out. The train no longer works that gave kids rides. My favorite animal is the otter. Was kinda disappointed to see them have little water the day we went. I mean they had enough to stay wet and move around but usually they have lots of water. ???? The goats make their way to you for feed. They are cute! Staff is friendly as well. The store items to purchase are nice as well. ????
Small, but interactive with friendly & knowledgeable staff.
enjoyed the friendly staff and the park and checking out the annimals
Lovely!
A great place not only to visit but to work. Worked there twice. Once as a keeper and once as Head maint. It saddens me that Harvey damaged it so bad. I pray for all my former co-workers as they work to rebuild and all the animals that were left homeless. Good luck and prayers for all!!
Fun for all!
Very small zoo and could barely see/find the animals.

Saw their exhibit at the San Antonio Rodeo. I wanted to cry watching the animals pace back and forth In Their tiny enclosures. Completely ruined my night. I do hope their enclosures back “home” are nicer and roomier.
Perfect place to go with the whole family. Its a small zoo put very clean and organize, your family is gana love it.
Kids liked it and I guess that's all that matters. Bird enclosure walkway was disgusting though.
Great sized zoo for little kids
Highly disappointed. We drove an hour and a half and Seemed like over half the enclosures there were no animals. Terrible maintenance around the park and over half the animals that were there I can see if I look out my front door.
Great place to go
Got great pics of black bear. emu and lemurs. Keepers are super friendly. We saw keepers deworm two foxes. So much fun we looked at everything twice.
Wonder beautiful
This is really a great place to visit and bring the kids. It is a great experience for you and your kids. We had a blast here and not bad in compared to the houston zoo it is alot smaller but still plenty of things to see and do. I love the animals and its neat to see them caged and so accessible.
Good for the price. I wouldn't drive about an hour or so to get there. It's quite small. Children over 10years of age will probably get bored after about around an hour. I wouldn't make it my whole day's activity plan , especially for the weekend.
Its so small and bad conditions, no friendly service, we come from Houston To Victoria i prefer Houston
Awesome zoo! It's just the right size to keep my son's interest, and he loves Jax the jaguar.
Great place to take the kids or go on a date. Not very big, as I'm from Dallas, but still worth the stop.
Was a great place for the kids to go. Even the older ones enjoyed feeding the Bears.
Nice place but I like the zoo in Chicago better. Jax gave a slightly toothy bj, minimal blood, but not bad for a natural born killer
Very small zoo. Not much here. Very smelly inside. Would be fun for small children though
Small but nice. Plenty for the kids too see.
That alot animal???? drove 4hrs

Very sad to see the animals and the enclosure their in. 4 alligators in a pond no bigger than 6ft by 2ft, The grass and trees are way overgrown, it smells terrible, the enclosure are dangerously outdated, the eagles pond is nothing but green algae, the animals obviously seem distressed, and not many animals to see. Overall a very depressing “zoo”.
At The Texas Zoo, we can see the animals that are native to Texas. Our whole family enjoyed the visit. It was very interesting and educational. Hope we can all support this wonderful zoo!
Staff was friendly. Wish it was bigger.
Wait time
I enjoyed it! Went during my lunch break. Took about an hour to tour the zoo. Small and cute. The staff was friendly. I hope that one day, they'll expand it.
Great fun, and knowledge for the whole family. The Zoo has scheduled exhibitions, and speakers, and holiday events.
