Far more than I bargained for. What a gem in our small town of Vernon. A place like this would be packed full in the city. I really encourage people to see for themselves, especially the "majestic" Moose. Lots of gift ideas too.

Huge collection of taxidermy. Gift shop has lots of cool stuff. Reasonable price.

Wasn't sure what to expect as we've been driving by this place since last year wondering what it was... the museum is a masterpiece... I've been to the Smithsonian natural history museum in DC, and this museums animal exhibits are better.... not joking. Not your average taxidermy. Many varieties of animals showing different life phases and morphs. The poses are so lifelike and the write ups really give you a sense of nature, how animals live and interact with each other. You might think that a bunch of taxidermy could come off as macabre, but this museum is just fantastic...

After driving by this building for many years and always wondering what it was, once the museum opened up we had to check it out. WHAT AN AMAZING JEWEL OF THE NORTH OKANAGAN!!! I am an avid outdoors person and lover of everything wildlife. This museum is something you might expect to find in a big city. The variety or animal displays, as well as the quality of the taxidermy is absolutely outstanding. There has been an incredible amount of thought and a labour of love that has gone into this place and it shows. I recommend taking your time and reading all the display info, very educational for kids and adults alike.

Although the displays are very impressive and creatively staged, I was gutted to find out after paying the admission fee that it is owned by a trophy hunter who has spent the last 30 years personally killing these incredible animals rather than collecting older specimens/sourcing them more ethically. When I expressed my distaste for sport hunting I was told "they were killed for meat" but i find that hard to believe when looking at several bears, cougars, hundreds of birds of prey, juveniles of of types and enormous bull moose. We have driven past many times and heard good things about it, and were interested to learn more about Canadian ecosystems and the diversity of wildlife here. However there was no information to accompany the displays, no depth behind where the animals came from, just beautiful animals arranged into poses. The one star goes to the hostess who was very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. EDIT: I absolutely support the use of taxidermied wildlife as a valuable educational tool when sourced ethically. I.e., via fish & wildlife auctions, or hunters who source their own meat and donate the hide to the museum. However, the museum's focus is not on education but rather showcasing a collection of trophies. I would prefer my money to go towards the conservation of Canada's incredible wildlife, rather than hunting permits for polar bears.

This place is lovely! I brought my 9 year old daughter and my 5 month old baby - they both loved it. Lots to see and learn. This place is a must visit for those that love animals! The owner has done a spectacular job. It’s not super stroller friendly, although the staff are super accommodating with helping you get the stroller around if need be. We will be back!
