So l don't often write a review before l am even finished my stay, but WOW, they would have to try pretty hard to mess up now. First off great P.R. by a young man named Sheldon, we had 5, 50lbs bags and 2 carry-on's. He rushed out in the rain welcomed us and was fast to move in and load ALL the bags, and to the room and unloaded. Amazing job Sheldon, and Tina at the front desk, also gets a WOW, she too was amazing, very professional, but also read us very well and was quick to make us laugh and then print off some paperwork we needed too. Tina also gave us a gift bag and was smiling warmly which made us forget our rain soaked appearance. Great job, and also Mr.Skweek and Starly our services dogs were treated with respect, thank you.

Big downer. I have had to constantly go back and forth to the desk because my key does not work. 5 floors up, really busy elevators, covid anxiety, taking stairs half the time out of frustration, etc. Ruined my stay. I am now in the room and I can leave but have to get FD staff to accompany me to the room to open the door. Thought that would be fine until you see how busy the desk is and one staff member. So, just to get into my room, I have to wait in line while people check in. No offer of another room... nothing. I want to go to another hotel, but prepaid and doubt they would refund me. They keep saying sorry... like that it's supposed to mean something. I doubt anyone from management reads these things. No customer service link on the website, so it does not look like the company is interested in hearing if guests are having problems.

So listen. On online check-in, my partner put in a ‘special request’ for our room to include a photo of Nicolas Cage. Yes, Nicolas Cage. The chances of them following through naturally seemed low. But the staff not only found a photo, printed it and left it on the bed… they also LAMINATED IT. A waterproof Nicolas Cage to greet our arrival (on one hell of a comfy king size bed I might add). Needless to say, Nic will now be traveling with us to all hotels, but none will hold our hearts quite like the Best Western Plus Sands. Oh, location is pretty great too. Nic enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony.

The location on English Bay is fantastic for visiting Vancouver. We were able to walk to Stanley Park and explore the sea wall and beach. It is also an easy walk to downtown. There are lots of great inexpensive restaurants and coffee shops …

Our family had the pleasure of staying at the Best Western Plus Sands in downtown Vancouver in late July 2021. It was our first real hotel experience since the start of the pandemic, and we were understandably nervous at what sort of …

Great hotel. Amazing guest service. Friendly front staff. Comfortable bed. Nice room overall. The king size bed and balcony really made a difference. Nice view overlooking the water. Nice hot showers. Very helpful in showing you directions around town. That really helped. Thanks a lot guys. Special thanks to Josephine, Kameran and the front doormen. I’d recommend this hotel for sure. Baseboard heaters were not working but I was provided with a heater which did help. Did not try the restaurant on the main level, they seemed pretty busy though. (Pro tip) Street facing rooms had a nice view but were very noisy with all the street traffic. I wish the maids in the morning were a bit quieter. 8am and it sounded like they were shouting in the halls. Other then that, good time.

Staff were friendly and the place was clean. The only real issue with this hotel is the parking situation is pretty poor and the hotel itself is pretty dated. Busy dated enough to come off as cheap but not quite old enough to be endearing or inspiring of nostalgia. Worst part was the noise level of the lower, Street facing units. You could hear everything, light sleepers beware. Over all pleasant place to check in, leave immediately, and come back to sleep late.

Quality hotel in a funky neighborhood. Staff were professional and friendly. Room was clean and modern. But the best asset is being able to walk to the beach half a block away and choose from a dozen regular and ethnic cafes and bars in a 3 block walk. Only small drawback is no free breakfast but the resturant had a special and Tim Hortons was right across the road.

All night partying on one side and baby crying his lungs out day and night in the other room in front. Beds are really comfy tough, if you can sleep!

Staff were friendly and they let us check in early but This place is getting old and the appliances need major updates. The curtains rediculiously enough don't block light so you can't sleep during the day at all. The prices were super high for what they provided.

Really appreciate the pet friendly policy here - that was a big reason for us choosing this hotel. Our room was immaculate. Great location next to the beach and you can walk into Stanley Park. Huge choice for casual eating nearby too.

I always stay if possible, at a Best Western hotels because even though they are independently owned, they have always had similar standards. I am not sure why they called this one a Plus because it needs renovation and that is what is currently happening there. I didn't find that I was inconvenienced because of the renovations. The location was brilliant and so was the staff.Having a fridge and a microwave allows me to have eating options that I wouldn't have at other hotels.

I live behind this hotel, I have seen many buses pulled up with no one watching and the baggage hatch it wide open in an alley so very easy to steal. They also use the permit only alley as a personal overflow parking lot even though locals struggle to find parking. This morning I watched a Houseman throw a mattress into a dumpster not on their lot may I add, but the next buildings over. It is illigal to throw mattresses out . Yes I found out whose dumpster it is and it is not shared by them. Disgraceful lack of respect for their neighborhood. Let me ad since you responded, I watched him go from your hotel and your baggage cart with your uniform to dump the mattress, he than proceeded to return to your hotel. Also we have called many times to the front desk where there have been valet cards on the cars for your hotel in the alley in permit parking. We have walked by the buses and seen no one there and actually gone into your hotel to ask why no one was watching bags and then told it was fine it was only for a moment. I will be sure to post photos next time. Thanks for the response however you need to make some changes.

We stayed at the Best Western Sands for two nights prior to our Ricky Mountaineer tour. The location was great. Across the road from the beach and access to Stanley Park. Many great restaurants in the neighborhood. The Cactus Club Cafe by the beach was excellent. Staff at the hotel were professional, efficient and helpful. Kameron at the Front Desk was great. Older property but has everything you need close by. I mistakenly gave a one star instead of five star rating. This is a great place to stay.
