Despite the Google listing, this is NOT a basilica. It may have been before it burnt down, but the only Catholic minor basilica in Western Canada is now St. Joseph's Cathedral Basilica in Edmonton, Alberta.

Absolutely love this place, especially if you need to geound yourself energetically, this place has alot of energy flowing through it and makes you feel at peace. To describe this facility, would be historical, with traditional highlights. Place to visit when in Winnipeg, cultural gem. Place for the faithful to gather, & engage in the Christian faith. Beautiful facility, & location parking for large functions has its issues.

I love bringing visitors here to see the cathedral. Beautiful in the daylight, but also stunning at night. Walking out the front you'll see the esplanade and the human rights museum at night, picture attached. Couldn't find Louis Riel's tombstone in the dark, though not the plaque that described the fire.

Cool place for a short visit! But the bells don’t ring? Kind of disappointing. If you take the riverboat tour at the forks, your captain can give you a little more history on the place.

Just the size of the cathedral is amazing. I'm a little superstitious so I didn't walk on the grass to get a close up of the graves but from what i could see the tombstones were beautiful.
