We had a great experienced exploring the area. We walked in the morning. Lots of amazing scenery. Lots of trails. Walking trails are mixture of pave and gravel, depends on which trail you will take.There is a pond in the area which is perfect for fishing. Lots of trees in the surrounding.We were able to see the horses in the ranch. Another great adventure. Another great memories from Red Deer.

I've both enjoyed an evening out at Heritage Ranch, and spent the day for work involved in planning sessions. Both were handled with a great balance of cozy and professional. The dinner service was excellent and we were treated to a delicious meal. The meeting room was well appointed and comfortable (if a tad warm) and we were well fed.

I wrote a 3 star review for a few specific Reasons. I spent a few weeks planning a birthday for my mother, and I was attempting to iron out some details, in order to do that, I needed to speak to the Manger of Heritage Ranch, I called in 3 times to request a call back from the manager, and never received one, I inquired 3 times via Facebook Messenger, they stated they would forward my message, and I never got a call back. After giving up, I went ahead with a Carriage ride / Dinner package for my parents, and they went, They stated the food was great, they were impressed with the 5 course meal, the bottle of wine and box of chocolates at their table, and they said the Carriage ride was nice and relaxing, tho they were disappointed there wasn't a lot to see during the route. The front desk staff were great and easy to work with, friendly service. This easily could have been a 5 star review had I actually received a call back as per my 6 requests.

A great place for a visit! Walking/biking trails, playgrounds for the kids, and a restaurant too! Located right beside the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame, you can stop here to stretch your legs while travelling north on highway 2. Loads of trails (paved and not) to explore, a stocked trout pond, and easy access to the Red Deer city trail system.

We stop here at the park to let our son stretch his legs and run around for a few minutes. It is such a well maintained and clean area. No bathrooms by the playground, and I really don't know where they are (although I'm sure there is something nearby), but the park is amazing. I highly recommend stopping by to just rest if you are driving by.

This recreational area is so beautiful and well maintained. The horses are so friendly as well. I enjoy taking my clients here for walks as well as my family. It's a great place to get outdoors and get the fresh air in your lungs. In the summer you can also do some fishing in the pond down in the trails.

First time here and it was Durring covid. The pet friendly patio is a nice touch, unfortunately it doesn't get afternoon /evening sun and this is more of a dinner establishment I think, not did they have gas heaters in our area so that was unfortunate but they did supply a thin blanket. I think they try and use alot of local produce so a big up to them for supporting local, my bison and the veggies /micro greens were local I think (they should probably promote that but they only have on the menu where the bison came from). It was the best bison I've ever had in my life, same as my girlfriends wow it was great and I'm glad as I got what I paid for. My girlfriend got some sort of beef, she used to work in many local restaurants and said it was good but over priced for what it was. We had a nice appy that was really good to can't remember what it was but that and 2 drinks was 210$. Its the first time since covid we went out and sat down at a restaurant and this establishment is known as one of the best in town to my understanding so I was happy to pay the cost. However my girlfriend probably has a better idea of cost to quality so that along with the no sun patio /no heater has me giving it 4 stars. Everyone's building nice patios due to covid and this place should invest in a patio upgrade. I will think about coming back when I can go inside, or maybe when I visit some other top places so I understand cost to quality in this region.

Heritage Ranch is a beautiful place located just on the edge of east Red Deer. It is a great place if you love horses and nature. There is also a nice little restaurant at the ranch. There is a great trail system at heritage ranch that links to the rest of the Red Deer trail system. And there is a nice large park for kids to play at. The Alberta Sports Hall of Fame is also located next to the ranch beside the hiway.

If you're into running, cycling or just taking a scenic tour, Heritage Ranch has some of the most beautiful trails. They are paved the whole way with some dirt paths that veer into the trees. If you're feeling like going off the beaten path the dirt paths are well kept.

I love this place. The restaurant is fabulous! Never had a bad meal there ever. Staff is good and the place doesn't play loud music while trying to eat or have conversation with friends. The winter light sleigh ride is wonderful. They give you blankets and hot chocolate. The stairs I use to exercise on and the park is grand. There's also a small play area for kids. This is a lovely place to go for the day.

Heritage ranch is beautiful!! One of my favorite spots in Red Deer. Pros: - Beautiful walking and biking trails, theres both paved and unpaved trails as well as a bridge over the river. The paved trail is also wheelchair accessible. - 2 larger parks both right near the parking lot so lots for little ones to do. - They have stables right by the main building where you can go pet the beautiful horses - They offer carriage rides, trail rides and pony rides for the little ones. - The resteraunt is nicely decorated and has pretty great food. - It is fairly easy to find and is right off hwy 2 - The have lots of awesome events here such as foam fest (obstical course for adults in foam.), wine tasting, date night specials, mothers and fathers day buffet (we do the fathers day one and it's always delicious), pumpkin picking, beautiful winter carriage ride to view all the christmas lights and lots of other cool events through out the year. Cons: - The food is a bit more expensive but better quality than most places. - Not a huge menu selection, but still an ok variety of dishes. - I find the pony rides pretty over priced. I believe it is $10 to do two laps around a circle. Which in total lasts only a couple minutes. It's ok if your child only wants to ride once or if you're only paying for one child. But if you have multiple children or your child wants to ride a few times it gets rather expensive for what it is. Overall I find some of things to be a bit pricey here but for the most part they are worth it. I highly recommend checking out Heritage Ranch it's a truly beautiful place.

First off when booking for a "DATE night" package, the price is for a single person? Last time I checked a date usually includes yourself and one other! Second to charge gratuity before you recieved the service is not how that works! Gratuity is received for good service! If I did not like the service or the waiter\waitress was not great, the gratuity reflects that! To charge gratuity before you receive a service is blatantly scamming people and overcharging!

Fabulous spot for dinner. Nice view, great patio and the food is excellent. I ordered the striplion and it's probably close to the most flavourful I've ever had. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the restaurant decor could use some sprucing up and my cappuccino was a little thin.

Green zone along the Red Deer river with plenty of walking trails in mature forest, ample parking and many picnic areas with tables. It's suited for outdoor activities. There is a restaurant and horse coral offering viewing and trail rides in carts/sleds. Located beside the Alberta Hall of fame dedicated to sporting memories. Family oriented.

Lovely place for families to spend time outside. Walking around, enjoying nature, seeing and feeding the horses. However, the restaurant is costly and usually requires reservations. They have different schedule events that are on the upper end for cost but the experience is often worth it!

We did the Carriage Date night for two through heritage ranch and Westlake Grill. The experience is amazing and the found was incredible. I will say that it is so expensive but definitely worth it to celebrate big moments. It is fine dining and it definitely take a while for the whole experience so make sure you slot yourself plenty of time. There also seemed to be a bit of confusion and there was some double booking for the carriage ride, but the staff took it in stride and made sure everyone was taken care of. Still highly recommend even with the oopsies.

Tried to book 13 people for a family sleigh ride where I was told we would have to pay for 20 or book the 10 person package and tell 3 of our guests they can't come or go on their own at a different time. Thought I may have misunderstood, but had this confirmed by a Manager. Pretty poor business model to say NO to potential customers and turn away business.

Tides of Change and Breaking Cycles

There are some nice walking trails that lead into red deer and the red deer river. Great place for a morning jog or afternoon hike. The facility at heritage ranch has a lot to offer from birthday parties to wedding day celebrations. Many exciting things to do here.

My Day Off

We love hiking around Heritage Ranch and down to Mitchell pond for fishing. We caught 5 rainbow trout today for the BBQ. It's a great place to have a picnic, fish, hike or just relax. We haven't had a chance to eat at the restaurant yet with the restrictions but we plan on trying it as soon as we can! A+

This Ranch has no Admission fee. It's a big Ranch . There are many healthy horses here ,old carriages etc. There is a Restaurant. The view and passage to the river is beautiful. The horse are very friendly and my kids loved them.

Food was reasonably priced for the quality. I ordered the special (salmon baked in filo pastry with a cream curry potato soup) which was delicious. All other dishes ordered were very good, although one beef dish was supposed to be medium-well but instead was well-done. A vegetarian meal was also created on request for one member of our group. Service was very friendly and food arrived as quickly as expected.

Heritage Ranch/Westlake Grill was the venue for our 34 guest Wedding. Kim and the rest of the staff did a wonderful job setting up for our ceremony down by the pond and for our reception located in the side room at Westlake Grill, the way I envisioned it. Our guests loved the carriage rides to the pond, said the food was the best food they ate at a wedding, and were happy with the drink waitresses. I wish we would have let Westlake do our dessert as i was disappointed with the caterer we used. Plenty of photo opportunities! My only recommendation to the staff would be that the day staff and evening staff communicate more as the evening staff were taking away my dishes/glasses when they were cleaning up, but this was minor. I highly recommend Heritage Ranch/Westlake Grill for small weddings, i cannot thank them enough for making my wedding day so special. Hands down, they did a flawless job. - Koralyn Lemmon

Brunch on the dog friendly patio was excellent. Not the cheapest meal in town, but my loaded omelette was brilliant. Once you add in the pleasant service (Jonah today) and the outdoor atmosphere, it's easily worth a few bucks over the city breakfast place. Will be back, with the dog, for a beautiful hike and good refreshment.

Nice place. Food is very delicious. Also there is kids playground just near the parking lot. For those who like horses ???? that place would be a good find. I personally use Heritage ranch as a start point for biking or running ????‍♀️. It's about 10km trail ???? that goes along the river and through the forest. Highly recommend it for family visits too.

We were just at the Ranch for brunch, I have no idea why this restaurant is not lined up out to the stables and maxed out for reservations. I had one of the best breakfasts I have ever had, sausages and bacon were of the best quality and French toast with house made brioche! The attention to detail here is amazing and the service was excellent and prompt as well. The restaurant can be a little pricey, but I don't mind paying well for this kind of excellence. I'm not sure Red Deer has another restaurant that is quite this good.

Heritage Ranch is a great place for a special occasion or a romantic, candle lit date night. The food is high caliber, and the surrounding setting is so lovely. The intimate carriage ride is fun and scenic in winter or summer. Hay rides are also offered where more family or friends can join in the fun. In the winter, the carriage ride is lit of with a myriad of lights twinkling in the trees. A lovely, tasty experience every time.❤

Cocktails were great! Loved all the different kinds of sangria! Apple was my favorite by far. The food was pretty decent, but the simple burger was a better hit at our table over the ravioli (you only get 1 big one!), the brisket and the bacon wrapped filet. Did the sleigh ride with the girlfriend one winter. It was cool and I got points for an untraditional gesture, but the sleigh is super close to the guy riding the horse, so felt a bit odd him being in ear shot. I couldn't whisper sweet nothings without buddy hearing every word. kinda awkward but a cool idea. Oh and the christmas lights were decent. The hot alcoholic beverage afterward was probably the highlight lol

I'd give them more stars but the site only allows for 5???? The food here is locally sourced and AMAZING!! The selection is just the right amount. Be careful though, everything really is as tasty as it reads, so it will take a while to make up your mind. We've eaten here quite a few times already. And we've covered every meal time, holiday and special occasion. You may find the prices a bit high, you won't mind as every mouthful is so worth it. Not only is the food outstanding, you'll also find that the staff is also outstanding. They're so friendly and pleasant to all of there customers. You'll also like the location, it makes you feel like you've escaped the city and ended up in the country, while your still in the city. So if your looking for a very fine meal, where everything that your about to eat is fresh and oh so tasty. A place where you can sit back and relax in a comfortable, cozy restaurant in a perfect location. Where the staff make you feel like your special, then you'll have come to the right place, ahhhhhh and mmmmmmm

Lots of nice sights for the sleigh ride but some interactions with the driver and facts about the ranch would have been nice. Had the 5 course dinner date meal. The Hors D’oeuvre was ok but I think 2 or 3 would have been more appealing. The soup was phenomenal and my wife enjoyed the salad alot. The main course tho took roughly an hour to prepare which was absolutely ridiculous in my opinion it was extremely delicious although but still 1 hour?? The palate cleanser was pleasant and the desert was ok just your ordinary tiramisu nothing special. Pictures are posted on order of courses

The food was delicious, I started with scallops served on cornbread which to die for, followed by a braised blackberry and saskatoon berry lamb served on mashed potatoes and carmelized vegetables it was very succulent and then topped it off with a dark chocolate mousse with BlackBerry sauce and a coffee. I want with my company as part of a wrap exercise. The portions and food served looked and smelled good all around, highly recommend this hidden gem.

Visited Heritage Ranch to walk the trails with a friend and her pup. The trails are all maintained and clean. There is at least two playgrounds there for the kids. The horses are great to look at while enjoying a walk and there is also a restaurant there. Beautiful place to visit.

What an incredible experience! Our horses, Ruby and Pearl, were Belgian beauties that took us on a fairytale ride around the ranch. The chauffeur was such a gentleman who gifted us a beautiful leather saddle ornament that he handmade. Our meal came in a large box and we opened it to an amazing dinner beautifully lit with Christmas lights (Inside the Box!) We opted out of the wine and didn’t expect anything in return but the owner went above and beyond to give us a big bag of gourmet coffee and homemade jam instead. When he learned we came from Calgary for our first anniversary and would be having a car picnic in sylvan lake, he ran back to the kitchen and gave us real silverware including high quality steak knives. The food was delicious and the steak was to die for. This is simply an exemplary model of above and beyond. Thank you Heritage team for making our anniversary so awesome! P.S- Tyson the pupper was an excellent host as well!

I have been here several times for breakfast to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, or just coffee with a friend. The breakfast menu has evolved a few times over the years. They used to have a brunch buffet, then a 3-course brunch, and now they just offer menu items. The food is always amazing. I love how they use local sources. It has a unique dining area (several levels of seating space with big windows and beautiful views.) It has a cozy ranch feel, but also slightly elegant. It is a beautiful space and am always pleased with the experiences I have there.

Went last week for supper. We had the seafood/meat platter. It was lobster, scallops, shrimp, chicken and beef. The lobster was meh. The shrimp were no good. The scallops however were delish. Overall too expensive for the food. Not to mention after leaving a $60+ tip, and the server didn’t even say thank you. Won’t be back.

I'm not really sure what all the hype is about the restaurant.. We have heard many good things, but it was sort of disappointing. The Brussel Sprouts were burnt, but we ate them because we were starving, and I don't like to complain. When my Lamb Shank came out just as burnt I had to send it back. The marscapone, blackberry and mint flavours I was expecting was completely lost in the char. The waitress was very helpful however and had another dish rushed out to me.

We went to the Westlake Grill for dinner last night without a reservation and likely during their busiest time of the night. They were very accommodating and seated my wife and I promptly. Our server, Julie, was amazing from the get go and frequently checked up on us as we enjoyed our drinks. There was a little blip with the kitchen which was understandable considering the time we were eating at. Julie and the managing staff handled the situation incredibly well and resolved the issue quickly. We have ate here many times and will continue to do so because of their excellent service (Julie especially), and the food experience they offer which is second to none in Red Deer! We liked to go to Westlake Grill quite regularly. We have had breakfasts, luches and on special occasions, enjoyed the Chef's Table features. But after last night, I do not believe we will be giving them our business anymore. We have a party of 6, and there were very few other people there. After we ordered our food, it took over an hour for us to get it. Not once did the waitress apologize for the wait or ask us if we would like to refill our drinks. She even seemed annoyed when my 7 year old wondered how long it might be. My scallops in my appetizer were raw, ad again, no apology or anything. When the food final did come, the steak that was supposed to be medium rare was actually well done and barely warm. If I am going to pay $50 for a steak, I would hope it to be cooked as requested. Throughout the meal the waitress did not ask how everything was and did not clear our plates, Then as we waited for the bill, we had to walk to the front door to leave for her to acknowledge us and finally give us the bill. If I am going to spend $250 + on a meal for my family, my expectations are far higher in regards to service and quality. I am highly disappointed with the West Lake Grill.

Heritage ranch used too be one of my favorites. Recently the chef has changed and so had the menu . It has allot of Indian foods and seafood now as it used too be ranch food. Still very tasty tho. Good quality, fancy place . Love the atmosphere and horses. Needs a new menu . Price is fair little high. We spent 170$ and tried the Indian feast was alright nothing too talk about. I still give them a 3 star because they do have good customer service, great atmosphere and I'll be going back . Keep on making good food !

My friend and I stopped on July 7th for one of their famous Caesar’s. We waited for 20 min for a server. So I went to get a server and he took our order. It wasn’t busy at all other than a wedding reception. We waited another 10 min so we got up and left. On our way out we told the bartender to cancel the order. But what was funny he was standing there doing nothing. So that tells me he never received our order. So disappointed in the service which is unusual

Just left this delightful place. We wanted to try a typical thanksgiving experience for the first time in our life, and it was totally worth it. Simply astonishing. We were skeptical about the menu (like any italian, you know...), but EVERYTHING was delicious. We even brought home some leftover food, something we hardly ever do. Had a great sleigh ride on Boxing Day evening with our family and grandchildren. The bonfire was burning to keep warm, hot chocolate and marshmallows available for roasting, and the lights on the trails made for a special evening. It was quite busy as five sleighs went out at one time with 1 to 3 horses on each. Pulled us down the trails that were well lit with lights in the trees. Blankets and seat pads provided to keep us warm on the sleigh. Mel was an awesome driver and we had good fun with him. Would recommend reservations. A good time was had by all.

Having watched it change over the years the ranch has always been a place you can get some separation from the city yet be right on its doorstep. The trail system ties in with the rest of the cities trail systems and can be reached relatively readily from most parts of the city. The ranch itself has two parks, an observation tower and offers trail and sleigh rides. There is a restaurant on site "The Ranch" that is upper scale food but thats another review. Often athletic events (running, cross country skiing) set off from here. Lights are set up in the Christmas season and several summer activities are run here. It is close to a pond a shirt walk away and there are two accesses to the nearby river valley and its trail system. Odds are if you find yourself on the cities trails you have a decent chance of making it here which is not in anyway a bad thing.

It's the go to place for my wife and I to take the kids when we want to get outside. The playground has a rubber mat base so the kids don't get dirty, a large field just beside the playground, the paths are nice to walk on, the horses are friendly so you can go pet them, and most importantly it's clean. we probably make it out there 3 times a week, at least. there is so much space out there, even when it is busy you hardly notice! I strongly recommend going there!
