As you can see it reaches an opinions average is positive, and it is based on a high number of feddbacks, so we may think that the evaluation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to set scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Zoo is classified in the category of Water park.
Nice place. Little beach, little river. Kids went down it a million and one times. Tube rentals reasonably priced, or bring your own. Park to play on too. Don't DARE drive through the golf course parking area though.
Good place to take kids to have fun tubing and swim in the little lake but for adults not so much very shallow tubing area.
Family friendly day trip from Edmonton and Calgary Tubes are available for rent around $7 or you can bring your own Staff is friendly The restrooms close earlier than posted time though Overall we had a good time ☺️
horrible and disgusting place to go. I DO NOT recommend going there. I got a huge gash on my leg and the staff said " it's a kid park, it's not meant for adults ".. not going back ever.. it was my first AND last time there
Lots of fun for very little cash. Tons of sand for the little ones to play in and the water is just deep enough for splashing fun. Didn't get a chance to go on the tube slide, (I have 4 year old twins) but will next time I'm there. It looks like so much fun.
Fun place and beautiful area.
Not bad if u like crowds lol
This park is an Amazing place to visit, chill out have lunch or participate in the Waterpark. The only drawback is it is only open to 7pm every night far too early for the long summer nights we experience here in Alberta, Canada
Though the place is very nice for kids in summer but it was insanely crowded on weekends.
At first this seemed like a great idea although I have a 4 year old and refused to let him go down the lazy river. Unsure why they would use sharp rocks as a barrier. I feel like it’s a recipe for disaster.
Quite a bit smaller than I expected, not sure it would be worth the trip just for this. We stopped in while on another trip however, and had a blast. If you live around here, this is just frikin' awesome. What a neat little beach/slide. I also in didn't know it had a nice little beach for the kids to play at or relax at!???? The playground is also great fun for the kids. And it's not expensive either ☺️
Cant wait to go back with the kid always fun
Awesome place to spend a couple of hours. We got there just after a storm so it was not busy.
A hidden gem in Red Deer. Fantastic place for a picnic for the whole family. The canyon gets crowded but that is part of the fun. And there are a lot of hiking trails right there. A must visit.
My family was so happy when we visit the place and it is safe for children.
????this place great all day...picnic and play
-19C. So cool
Recently upgraded. Really busy on warm days so get there early
The website may claim they are open but bring your own tube because they are only open when the weather is fine. It was overcast and +19 and everything was locked up tight. The water was running in the tubing canyon but not a staff member to be seen. All the change rooms were locked so change before you come. On the positive e side there were no lineups and it was free. Good place to one if you want a low priced spot to cool down with your younger kids.
Long wait to rent tubes and it's really only built for young kids; adults bottom out. Also, it's a pretty short run. If you live near Red Deer and have small kids, then givver; otherwise hit up a beach somewhere.
It was a nice quiet day and then the birds came. So many tiny birds, zipping around, looking for an opening to perch on people's heads an survey their territory from the interlopers
Fun place to cool down during the heat wave
The renovations are beautiful and the kids loved it
Some nice new changes. Fun for little kids. Needs more for bigger kids. Didn't eat food but they had a greasy burger joint. Be a regular thing for us this summer.
It has been a very long time since I came here since maybe....1997. So I can imagne this place changed quite a lot over the years. The best part about this place is that its fun for the kids, fun riding down the river into the small lake. So if given the chance to come back here, would love to come here to chill, relax and enjoy the swim on a nice hot summer day ^^
Always a good time
Clean relaxing environment. Beautiful trails
Much like any beach, a lovely place for your children to spread sand in your vehicle and home without you knowing! A nice little getaway for the kids tho.
Not very busy right now, so the boys get to slide a lot!
Have loved it since the early '90s the upgrades are amazing... the beach front is great the lazy river is perfect for any kid and small teens.adults large teens will get stuck on the high parts . rentals are cheap with id parking is great. The absolute only down fall to this hidden gem is that Google does not have have up-to-date real time hours.. so when I drove from Calgary south to arrive and it say open and it be closed it was a really sad 4 hour drive.and when I called there was no direct branch to find out if they are open when you call the golf club...
Great place for whole family fun.
Good for young families, bring outdoor activities in addition to the water park. If you are heavy you might get stuck on the tube float.
It was a fun experience for all the family probably not for all ages but sure to make young at heart preoccupied for a day. Only cost you the rental of tubes and you can stay and play all you want.
It's ok for any parent with a 4 year old or younger. Only a 40 foot stream where there are 8 to 12 year olds helping you get down because you always get stuck! Lol. The only time you don't need help is when your tube slides down from all the algea on the rocks!
It’s so fun and I love the place
Had a great time here with the kids The raft ride was fun but im alittle to heavy and kept getting stuck lol definately a good spot for an afternoon picnic and a break from the heat for the kids
Love walking on the trails here, the birds let you feed them from your hands ❤️
Everytime we go to Discovery Canyon we have a fantastic time!. Great staff, cheap fun and the place looks great after the renovations! Thank you to the city of Red Deer for maintaining and improving this space for us all to enjoy!!
Full Moon nature awesomeness
2 thumbs up please is clean and pretty ! the people / staff are nice and the venue is awesome , kids had fun
The staff were excellent. It was quite busy on a 22 degree day. The float down was just a couple minutes. The deepest water was thigh deep. Worth the trip from Edmonton to discover for the afternoon.
Discovery Canyon is a great place to go for the whole family! It is free, with free parking and tubes are very inexpensive. It does get very busy though as it is a popular destination for many people. The renovations are really nice have brought more appeal to the place.
If you dont like crowds, this place is not for you. Limited parking and no tubes available.
Cool free And fun. Bring your own tube or rent 1 for 5 bucks. Apparently don't forget photo id if you want to rent. Reasonable washrooms and lots of picnic tables and a big playground
Very nice visit on a hot day. Took the dog for a walk around the park
decent place to bring kids! the concession at the base of the "Lazy River" doesn't have food, but there is a grill up by the parking lot..?!
Upgraded and looks fantastic
Great place to spend a hot day at. Small lazy river which you can rent a tube for $6 for the day to go down with. (need a piece of I.D to rent). At the bottom is a small man made beach with a small pool like area. The kids can play in the sand and water at the bottom of the lazy river. There is also a playground nearby. Cheap way to spend a hot summer day.
This is a great little place for a day trip. Definitely need to get here earlier than 1:30. We didn't get to rent tube the line up was very long and slow moving. We didn't wait as it was get a tube as returned. Watched the line and where we …
One of the best, quite park for kids & families.
The new riverbed and landscaping is beautiful. I packed a lunch, lawn chair and towels and had a nice day with my 7&9 year old. Grass and sand beach area were clean. Bathrooms were clean but smelly. $5 for a tube for the day is reasonable although you have to leave your driver's license with rental counter. Will be back.
The water and beach was great. The manager was aggressive towards me while I was nursing my 3 month old son. I had set up a small sunshade. It was smaller than a beach blanket. And he made me take it down. It's a public park area. He is only the manager of the golf course and concession. He should be embarrassed of himself.
Was very busy, still had a good time though. Other visitors were courteous and well behaved. I think staff should be situated along the river to discourage people blocking the flow of people or forming chains and getting stuck people moving, the latter being done by younger kids that seemed to enjoy keeping people going. Not enough notice that there is no RV parking. I recommend going around 5pm when the crowd does down.
An excellent place for One Day fun with Family and Friends.. kid's will enjoy this place.
Perfect getaway during a hot season.. though it’s very crowded and far away from the city it’s worth the visit. There’s no admission fee but incase you want to enjoy the flowing water using the donut floaters, you might want to rent and it cost 5$ each. Make sure to have an eye on it,as you have to give your DL when you rent it. We stayed here for about 3 hours and it’s a good spot to beat the heat.
Fantastic place for families/caregivers to head to in the Summer. The new renovations look amazing, and I love how accessible it is to get to (and into) the bottom of the canyon.
I love this place but remember sunscreen is important
Mostly fun for kids 10 & under. Anyone older than that tends to get stuck on the slide.
Great family fun!
It gets congested pretty easily and people get stuck the design is totally off
This is a great place for parents and their kids.
Good way to burn the day with the kids. The little river they tube down is really just for kids only (grown up butts will drag on the bottom) and there is a decent little pond at the bottom for the kids to splash and play in. Sandy small beach with a concession makes it ok for us adults while we hang out. Theres also alot of grassy area with a park too. Tubes are $5 to rent or you are welcome to bring your own.
Very crowded and not a lot of actual water to play in. The tube ride is a little underwhelming. Concession and rentals available plus there's a huge park nearby for your kids to play on.
Great ???? ????
The coolest place in redder for the family hands down. Just love this place for great fun in the water. Awesome idea. Hours of fun for kids and everyone. It can be very busy but we'll worth it. Nestled in down by golf course close to the river. Can't wait to go again????
Still like I remembered with lots of upgrades. Plus there's a food truck for snacking.
Too short a run for the lazy river.
This is a beautiful, virtually cost free place , for families and friends to enjoy a beautiful day while in Red Deer. The drawing feature is a long winding slow "creek" that leads to a shallow " lake" at the bottom. This is ridden down on inner tubes. **** NOTE**** The inner tubes are $6.00 to rent. You may also bring your own, you can also use their air compressor. If you use yours, it should be a basic round tube and be sure it is completely OPEN in the bottom . On a busy day, arriving 20 minutes after the park opened up, we waited in line for a half hour to get to the front. Then they ran out of tubes. They said it would be 30- 120 minutes for more tubes as the day had just begun! If you have kids, its a great fun place. If you dont want to wait or be disappointed, I'd definitely bring prepurchased tubes. There is a great park for kids to play on. As well, there are many spots to set up for the day where you can bbq etc.. Alot of people had screened enclosures that they staked to the grass. Clearly planned for an entire day. Lots of big, beautiful trees for ample ???? ⛱. Definitely worth checking out on a warm day in Red Deer!
Fun place for family. Waterfall is a little too shallow. Friendly staffs and well planned.
It was not as appeared in photos, and was very overcrowded and they were sold out of tubes. Great for small kids, and that's about it.
Great place to bring the family, awesome summer spot
A touch crowded for me but i'm a part time hermit. My kids had an awesome time.
I recommend this place for the family who wants to have fun.
Really neat little place with beaches and reasonably priced tube rentals as well. A good way to waste a Friday and get out of Calgary.
This was a cool area to go with friends or bring the kids. A fun tubing water slide carved out of rocks and ending in a little pool/beach area. They have a really cool kids park too.
Went there with my parents and niece wasn't to impressed at all I wasn't the only one that left with bruises and cuts from the tubes and rocks and it's not adult friendly. For being a 1 million dollar reno it was a waste of money. Gotta do something better.
We love to hang out there in summer!!
Alot of fun tube rentals are 5 bucks a tube for the day. And concession pricess are good. Bathrooms on site. Lots of shady grassy spots to sit and chill. It was a great afternoon
Great place to take kids of all ages on a hot summer day. Weekends are always busy.
Haven't been before..Ended up going twice this summer with family. Had a great time. Look forward to going again!! Definitely recommend going, You will have just as much fun as the children. :)
10 outta 10 recommend. Stopped by for a couple hours while passing through. My kid was too scared to hop on the tube but Mommy had fun ????????
Great place to take the kids. SUPER busy on a hot Saturday. Good thing I brought my own tubes for the slide
Beautiful trails. Very well maintained.
One of the nice beautiful ans amazing place, free parking free handicap parking public washroom. Amazinf gold club plus beautiful picnic spot. Bring your chairs mate icebox Bar-B-Q small table kids swimming suit plus towel snd other picnic stuff. You can get tube 5$ rent (blue color) or you san being your own tube. They have air facility. Pleas check weather before visit. Try to come early to get better spot.
Not all that much to do there
We were excited for the lazy river, but quickly disappointed when we got there. Unless you get there early, parking is a nightmare. The lazy river is too shallow, short, and gets congested easily. The pool at the bottom is nice, and so is the picnic area around the feature. Whitecourt has a much better lazy river that is deeper and has two lanes, I’ll be going there from now on.
Very nice park to bring your kids on a hot summer day. Big crowd but kind of expected during summertime. My 6 & 4 years old had tons of fun. Won’t recommend tubing for any children under 4 alone. There are lots of big kids around. It is easy for small children to get knock over in the river when it’s crowded. Also, you might want to bring your own tube for the younger ones as rentals won’t fit them properly. Be careful if you’re walking in the river or on rocks. It is very slippery.
A good place to have fun with the family
Kids love the lazy river.
Great times and the kids loved it and almost didn't want to get our of the water.
It was very boring with not much to do would only recommend it for kids under 10
Excellent Family Location. Great for a hot day like today. It wasn't too busy and the water was perfect!
Discovery canyon is one of my favorite place to go around in Red deer it has river, bike and walk trails.
This is an incredible water park for families. It's clean, and has plenty of shade and room to lay down your beach towels. They have a tube rental center in case you didn't bring one.
Superb place for a Summer fun with kids..been there on Sep 4th.. it was quite busy yet too much fun … kids really enjoyed being there… great weekend …no need to bring your own as it’s sometimes hard to get the one according to their conditions.. the tube rental rates are affordable 5$ (subject to availability).
Lots of fun, shallow swimming pool which is great for kids. Clean bathrooms, a park and showers. We had lots of fun
This place is great. Had so much fun with the kids and the staff was super helpful and friendly. They could use a few more picnic tables and bathrooms!
Definitely worth the trip from Leduc. Make sure you leave enough time to stop at Peter's Drive-in for a milkshake after though!
Easy parking, lots of space. And a beautiful place to spend with family
It is ok small place for big crowd.
awesome place
Very good the tubes only cost 5 bucks and very fun gppd poace for outdoor activity but needs more washrooms
This information is for parents of small children under 6. This place is a lot of fun for older children and teenagers who get excited and push or kick each other’s tube. It is however dangerous for children who are smaller. My 7 year old had a lot of fun but our 2 and a half almost got his face smashed on the rocks when a kid pushed me out of the way. There is no one supervising the area and no rules or safety measures. It is lined by sharp rocks and my husband ended up with deep cuts on both his elbows. If you want to enter the canyon go from the left side where the stairs are and not from the right where the water is deeper and more turbulent causing the tube to not stay stable. Unfortunately many parents/adults also push around and not much regard for others. Too crowded and no limit on how many people can come in. Until someone gets seriously hurt unfortunately this place will not be safe for play (like how the trampoline parks used to be).
Great place! Something for everyone, including a great walk around the golf course.
Two poke stops and 1 gym. The tube ride is short but fun. The kid's playground is also nice.
Lots of great fun. Pack a picnic and BBQ, take some chairs and enjoy an entire day with the family.
This is a great place to bring your children and family to spend the day! Beach space, grass areas, and water to swim in! There is a concession that sells hot dogs, ice cream and sweet snacks. There is tube rental at $6.00 and you MUST HAVE ID to rent the tube! They give the ID back to you upon return. Lots of parking, a little bit of a walk from the parking lot to the activity area, but it's paved. There is an adjacent park and huge green space for BBQing and/or having a picnic! They don't allow BBQs or tents in the sand. They also have staff throughout the park ensuring the kids don't play on the rocks and that if you bring your own tube that it doesn't have mesh on the bottom and that it's the right size. Overall, a great place to spend the day!
This is a TERRIFIC place for children of all ages! I will definitely take my grand children Back again....Soon!
Great Place
Great place to visit. Kids will love this
Bring your first aid kit because you will likely capsize on the tubes on busy days. And it's all concrete so it's like getting road rash. If you can manage a day that's not too busy it's a lot of fun. There are lots of tubes to rent and there are washrooms on site. Lots of parking add well but also LOTS of people! Since it was renovated it has become more popular.
Just good for kids
Cool park, nice spot for walks and theres a tubing run I'm the winter
A great place to take the kids. This is a great facility for young families. No admission fee to enjoy the amenities and when you have a young family money is always a factor. Every person was having fun. Young and old. Well maintained and clean. Renting a tube is only $6 with no time limit. My only warning is watch out for the adults. My two year old was knocked over several times. Not by other children but by selfish and careless adults acting like children.
My family enjoyed it. Time well spent
A great outdoor place for kids. But the staffs are not friendly.
Smaller then I thought. But still fun
Just ok! Didn't really see anything special about the place.
It is a fun place but super busy on a nice day.
My dad helped create discovery cannon but at the water fall and slide it can be cramped. Over all good and fun water park with snack shack and tube shack/rental. My dad got laid off last year, so I don't go here anymore. But still fun:)
Great place for kids on a warm day
Lots of very close parking (1-3 minutes walk away from the area) it is recommended for 6 years old and above due to random small and big rocks, the base of the lazy river is very slippery and no one will supervise your kids for you. few light scratches on your hands, elbow and feet is really hard to avoid, i still rate it 5 star though because its very nice inexpensive place to spend the day, beat the heat and free your mind from stress, never mind the few scratches, your kids will surely love the place. closed and big tents are not allowed. if you want a good spot specially if you’re coming in large groups, you have to be there earlier than 10 a.m.
Needs some polish, not bad.
Lots of fun! They have a tubing area, beach and great playground. I recommend for ages 7+. They also have a concession area and tube rental.
It was super busy and way way way smaller than the pictures make it seem to be
Great place for kids to enjoy.
It was great! Would rate it 10 starts if I could!!
So much fun for the whole family , tubing, sand to play in and a big outdoor park , great place for a family day for all and a picnic
Super cool. Can't wait for reopening!
Perfect day-trip destination for anyone and everyone. Plenty of hiking trails, well maintained water feature/tubing/beach area and plenty of picnic tables. I'd imagine this place gets crowded on a hot summer day. The bathrooms on a Sunday evening in mid August were much less than acceptable. In fact, deplorable. I feel sorry for everyone who has to clean that mess up. Truly. Do better, humans. :) Consesion and tube rentals available. Must have photo id for tubes.
The facility is great overall and definitely geared towards families with young children. The concept is too successful because parking was challenging and up the road for some distance. What I wish I knew in advance was that it's really only ment to accommodate young children and teens and adults are almost too much. The slide is small and the line-up to ride down was very long. Additional staff to monitor the unsupervised children would also be appreciated by many I'm sure. Great facility and locals know and take advantage of it, which was nice to see!
Good place to have fun with the fam
If you have kids and live in Red Deer, this is the place to be in the summer.
Lots of parking, very clean, great family fun, and so close to Red Deer.
Awesome place for the kids. Water slide, tube rental, playground, picnic table....
The place is so clean and beautiful! You can have picnic. While your kids is having fun swimming and riding in the blue tube in their lazy river! Kids loves it! And if you don't wanna be wet there is a big playground for your little one to play. We live in Calgary and this is a worth to drive! Will definitely coming back to this place! Highly recommended for Families or with friends :)
This is a hidden gem in Central Alberta for the whole family. From the river tube ride, to the mini beach and the great playground. There is something for everyone. The best part is, if you being your own tubes you don't need to spend any money if you don't want. My kids love it here!
What an awesome public facility! Great fun for the kids, and Dad as well. $5 tube rentals is all it took to have a couple hours of fun and best the heat.
Family friendly. Very open space for extra activities like frisbee .
Nice place for kids
It’s a very good place to go, you can swim and they even have a small waterfall
Great place to hang out on those hot days! Especially after the renovations, it looks amazing!
Wonderful place, even better when it's overcast and no one is there!
Have been here several times to relax with the family and kids. Always fun and great place for the kids to play in the water on the hot summer days. Washrooms and a concetion for food and rentable tubes are located here as well.
Nice trails, nicer wildlife, bring bird seed.
Yikes such a well done lazy river using red deer river water (genius) that it is packed all the time. Red Deer should build another one of these. Great for kids 4-10
It's great if you have small children.
Good place to bring your family. Kids and adults alike are going to enjoy the cool water, especially if you go ride a tube down the water "slide". Bring your own tube or rent own for $5.
They put in a brand new (and NICE) park. I wouldn't say it's a good park for under 3 years old- but any age older would love it.
Everything you read in other reviews of this place regarding kids getting hurt or the like...take heed...they are accurate. Every 5-10 minutes or so you'll see at least one child crying, bleeding, or limping. I will not be surprised if there is a drowning in the future. It was a fun idea, and I think this place has great potential...but it has not been carried out well at all. For starters, there is no lifeguard or any sort of regulation to control how many tubers go down at once. This means that after about 11am, there'll be a ton of people trying to go down at the same time. It's one thing for an adult to get another adult with his tube landing on top of him, forcing him briefly under the water...it's a whole different level of seriousness when this happens to your young children. Then there's the large amount of tubing traffic down the narrow stream...this causes grid-lock, which means that when a heavier person/adult on a tube comes barreling down and slams into your children's tubes, your children will flip over and get trapped underneath everyone else, usually slamming their bodies against the sharp rocks or sides (I am not exaggerating). There are also many dead spots on this tube ride. You could be stuck for quite some time before getting going again...very annoying. Oh, and unless you weigh under 10 pounds, you'll also get stuck multiple times throughout this trip, as your tube will consistently bottom out and stop before mostly every bump where the water then goes down a slight hill. You have to push yourself off the bottom with your hands or even stand sometimes in order to get over these...only to need to do this again 5 seconds later. The depth at these points seems to be only a few inches of water. I have 4 kids. Only one of them came out without being bloodied or bruised after a single afternoon there. I was also cut up. Also, they have signs that people re not to smoke or drink alcohol on these grounds...nobody follows this rule and nobody enforces anything...because nobody is around, apart from the shack at one end to take your money for tube rentals ($5 per tube...no bad, actually) and snacks.
great place for family fun. Best beach, Nice sand.
Love it here! So peaceful and clean. The kids have a blast . Could spend all day here
Beautiful day to be here !!
Great spot to take kids of all ages. The really little ones can play in the sand and wade in on the beach. The older ones are able to float down the lazy river. Show up early to get the best spot. Not a good spot for your dogs, leave them at home. Bring a shade tent or umbrella so if it's busy you'll still have a prime spot to sit on a hot day.
The kids love it.
It’s got a lot of stuff going on that’s really fun to do
Perfect for young children and parents. When the days are hot this is a great place to be. Bring your tubes, and picnic items and you’re set. You do tend to get stuck in the man-made river, but it’s still fun.
Go very early as it will be packed by 11:00 AM. PARKING IS LIMITED. Lots of overflow. Tubing is a small area.
But people please pick up your trash it's not cool and city of red deer start handing out fines for that please maybe then they will put it in the garbage
Kids love it.
Are children adored this place
As of today, July 12/2020 You can walk around there, but the water is not flowing yet. ????
Great place for kids under 12, super busy on hot days, tubes are for rent at 5 bucks each and there is a nice concession.
Quaint little beach and waterfall/slide. Great place to bring the kids or to go for a good walk on the trails.
Super busy and crowded, great place to take the kids, they absolutely love it, I prefer to go during the week when there are less people
So many awesome changes made to the space which has made it more user friendly and lots of interesting reading points about the area now. My favorite part is seeing the natural animal tracks that were made while they were doing the renovations
Went when the weather was only in the low teens. Had a great time all to ourselves!!!
I discovered a part of myself that I didn't know existed
Too crowded!!
not yet started sesms to be good
Cool park, smaller than I expected, there is only one river path lol I was kind of hoping for more but fun for young family Great playground, nice place to stop by if driving through red deer or live close by but I wouldn't make a special trip just to go here lol
Lots of people, was fun for the kids and adults, lots of tubs to rent. Only down side was not enough attention to the bathrooms they were messy and grose, but all in all a good time.
Fun little tube slide ???? there is also a decent playground for kids.
Great place for kids and adults in the summer
Fun every time :) $5 per tube rental is great or you can bring your own. Tip for small children - watch them at the bottom of the ramp, where the river comes into the pool. It can be VERY slippery with the algae build up and the rushing water will take them right off their feet. The playground is beautiful and there are lots of picnic tables. The bathrooms having running water.
Good family place. Great for the kids
Well planned water fun for younger kids. Lets the parents relax while the kids go down the run over and over. There is a sandy beach to enjoy a rest.
Really cute little place, would be a great place to bring the kids for a "beach day" away from home without having to go out to a legitimate lake.
It was awesome great little spot for the kids to play not a bad price at all very awesome little find ????
Great place to cool off on a hot day with the kids. Price is right (only $5 to rent a tube) but it does get very busy so come early.
Fun place for the kids but when we had a picnic out there last weekend the washrooms were locked still, need to open them earlier in the year.
We had a great time. Shout out to Anna Discovery Canyon Staff for smiling the whole time while assisting people in the stream. Keep it up. Your kindness spreads. <3
Great place for the family to enjoy. Parking maybe a little difficult when it's hot weather. Hope they find a way to expand the parking space
Great place to visit with kids. Debit is accepted, $5 per tube and take I'd to leave when you rent the tubes. I prefer weekends early am to avoid weekday day camps as it can get very busy. Hotdogs and chips available right at the park
Summer fun for the whole family now! The new improvements have made discovery canyon fun for the whole family now that adults can actually use the tube park. The wide tube slide and removal of crazy rocks have made it much more pleasing for all. If you haven't checked out the new version of discovery canyon I highly recommend doing so! Great job Red Deer!!
It looked fun but honestly too short :( we took longer finding parking and in line for a 30 second little ride. And if your going to stay all day then maybe it's worth it...but just didn't seem worth it.
Wonderful place for kids and families. Clean washroom and changing facilities. Lots of sand and picnic tables
Great for both kids and adults
They have a brand new park and they renovated the water tubing run.
It gets busy but I love the place
Pure chaos on weekends. Everybody in our group that went into the water got injured in some way. Saw two kids nearly drown in the lazy river who had to get pulled out. I pulled out two other kids who were hurt at other times. Saw lots of kids with bleeding cuts from that tube ride. Then the bathrooms stalls had broken latches, causing long lines. People smoking when it's says no smoking and camp smoke blowing down into the valley making it unpleasant to be sitting there. I will not be bringing my kids back there again, at least not until they fix the many issues there.
I was locked down there when the didnt look for my van and the gate boooo had to call cab
Awesome place for the family! Super affordable, $5 per person to rent a tube all day and your kids will have a blast. There's also a nice shallow lake/pond with 2 sand beaches for the smaller kids to play in. Bring a picnic and make an all day Adair out of it, can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Fun place to take kids. Gets really busy on hot day!
Fun place
Great cheap fun for the kids. Just $6 to rent a tube. Bring cooler of food and find a table or a spot on the ground and enjoy.
Great place to visit if you have kids, rent a tube or bring your own and enjoy the (not so wild) ride down !
????
I liked it so good I like splashing water going down the slide working on the sides help them go down the slide
Amazing place for you and the kids!
Great fun, but ridiculously over crowded on weekends
Really enjoyable outing! A great place to have a BBQ /picnic. The floating canyon is great for young children. Adults have slightly less fun as there are a couple points where people heavier than children get hung up. There are two sandy areas to set up and picnic tables everywhere. A large playground and a large grassy area to throw a football, kick a soccer ball, throw some discs. Tubes are $5 each. There is a concession there too selling cool treats. Just be slightly cautious as the final drop is fun but there is a right turn at the bottom of the canyon that actually isn't banked. You run I to a wall and then bounce into the pond. This could be an accident waiting to happen. There are also some beautiful trails to walk through along both the river and through the forest.
Such an amazing place also great for family outing
It's great for what it is. Kids had a blast going down that short river run. Got crowded quickly, but the staff kept the traffic flowing. Restrooms on site are well maintained. Get there early because the spots to set up your "camp" fill up fast. If you can't do crowds...well, this place might not be for you...
I loved to learn that the real name of this place is Park Waskasoo park. It was a pleasure being at the Elk's river,❤️❤️❤️
Awesome. One of the best places to spend summer with the kids!
Fantastic free fun! The layout provided great features for my kids, which kept them happily busy for hours, and easy supervision for me, whether they were playing in the sand, going down the tube river, or simply playing in the water. It's shallow enough for my elementary-aged children to play independently and safely. There is a bathroom & changeroom building provided closeby and a concession where cold or hot food can be served. I would definitely recommend this place and I will certainly go back.
It's a nice place, it's free, but the tubes cost.
Wasn't to sure what to expect here. But really what a great park. They need to make more of these but until then it is easily worth the trip from Calgary or Edmonton to experience the fun. You can bring your own tunes but for what it's worth just rent them for 5$ and take everyone for a great time!
A bit crowded but a whole lot of a fun. The kids loved it.
Nice clean quiet place to have a picnic
Great play place for the kids or just soak up the sun. Beware, tubes are limited when it’s busy. Be prepared to wait upwards of an hour or bring your own.
Awesome little park to bring your family and inner tube for the little tube run
Great place for kids. Water is very very cold. I was expecting something bigger. Lots of fun for the kids. Great for a day out to do something different.
Came here with my wife and 3 kids (9,5, and 1) and had a blast! For 10 dollars we rented 2 tubes and went multiple times down the slide. The place was packed for good reason, all my kids really enjoyed the slide itself, the pool, the sand, and the area as a whole. I saw some visitors with portable BBQs and coolers and would also highly recommend that! Looks great! The only complaints I have were the smallest tube they had was still a little too big for our 5 year old. I had to go down with her in the larger tube and because of the shallow water on the slide it was very difficult to get through as a 230 lb man with my five year old sitting on me. That being said I would definitely visit again!
perfect for family picnic and swimming
Discovery Canyon has a great picnic area and a really nice playground. The canyon area is nice but can get really busy. I would recommend staying close to younger kids as the tubes can flip. It's perfect for kids 6-12 years old. Older or heavier kids might drag along the bottom.
Nice place for a family picnic
Way cool!!! great place for kids and family!!!
Free to visit, great water river for tubes, bring own or rent. Sand beach. Chest deep in water for kids. Good playground with natural elements. Best place for family hang out!!
This place is amazing! The lazy river is short but fun, there are little rapids, and most of the time u will get stuck! There is a beach part that u can swim in and sand to play in!
Nicer than I thought i would be. Good Faimly time
Great day of family. $6 to rent a tube no other admission fee.
Very clean and well priced, fun for all ages
get there early as we were told they had been running out of tubes. Glad we got there early so we could get a few runs in to get my 5yr old confident in doing it himself. We stated from open to close and they didn't want to leave! Wish it was a little longer of a run, but otherwise loved it all. beautiful location, loved the sand/wadding pool/grass/flushable bathrooms/
A relaxing day in the sun nice to take the kiddos to for a less busy beachy experience.
Fantastic place if it's hot out. Parking is a challenge.
Kind of a dirty place and you have to wait for hours just to get a tube... Also its expensive.
An exciting outdoor adventure which my daughter have so much fun! Crazy busy on summer, but a great place to enjoy time with family and friends..
Kids always have a blast here.. its definitely more of a kid fun type thing and a memory over adult fun. One thing I will add. The people working there were spacing people tubing way to far apart at the top. Took ages to go down when it was packed mid day. They should have been down further un stucking people instead of launching one by one. Everyone was crowded together at the top waiting to go. It was holding it up more then helping.
Nice place to bring kids
Very good place for the whole family and even for the whole day.
It's a little oasis hidden within the city. Great place to take the children for an inexpensive day of fun. 5 dollar tube rentals and a snack shack where the take cash and debit bit no credit card. Or bring your own tubes and food. But it's highly recommended that if you are planning to spend the day , go early so you can get a good spot. Because this area is very popular.
The water had a stink to it, and the flow was not strong enough for an average adult to get down the lazy River without getting stuck, the amount of people congesting the river was also a neusance.
I've been in red deer almost 5 years now, I've never been in an amazing place like this. I encourage everyone to come and visit
A lot smaller than what I was expecting.
Dropped my son and his friend there today with their own tubes and they were told they can't use the slide because they had bottoms on there tubes and that they could go rent some . unfortunately they had to just sit around until I was able to come back and get then.
It's my first time there and it was a great little heading gem that I didn't know about in Red Deer. It wasn't an overly sunny day but there was still a good size crowd but the one downside was the washrooms. Some people call them indoor out houses and that's exactly what they smelled like and resembled out houses
Was a great place to take the whole family! The and was great and our kids loved the tubing!
Fantastic place to spend an afternoon at
Love it absolutely beautiful My granddaughter loves the new park to have there So clean and well maintained
Lots of fun for the kids!
I enjoyed a very nice walk with a friend. We try to go as often as we can. The weather was good however the washroom facility was locked. In the summer it's a good place to have a picnic.
Great place to take kids only $5.00 for the whole day and nothing if you have your own tube..it also has a concession stand washrooms picnic tables and lots grass and beach area to sit also a huge playground .the only downfall was the restroom being dirty but i guess it's to be expected with a hundred or more kids using it all day ..
Great place for kids!!
Neat place but it gets really busy. The lazy river ride was fun but parents had to help relieve the log jams of people and tubes. There also wasn't enough people manning the concession stand as the tube rentals lines were long all day. Area is nice though.
Great little lazy river park
Golf was good but parking is terrible
This place is big we have play ground but her man made sliding poll small
Great time for the whole family.
Low cost lots of fun for the kids and adults alike. Best time to go is between 10 am and 1:00 pm after that gets a bit crowded and they can run out of tubes. It would be nicer if it had more water flow through some of the channels to move people along faster but still lots of fun and a great time when on a budget.
Amazing experienced! but i hope there's a shower area even outside the bathroom ????
Was ok, but the wasps are unreal. Some kind of pest control would be awesome. Concession is outrageously priced. And people like to take pictures of your vehicle parked
Love it. Fun time playing in the water. There is also a playground/structure for kids.
A fun place to entertain the kids for free but beware of the bathrooms they are gross and do not get checked on.
It’s pretty anytime visit. Excited to be here for summer for the first time! :)
Super cool but crazy crowded
A wonderful park for walks, playground time, picnics and the little lake and tubes are always a highlight. Perfect for a family day at the park.
No crowd control at beginning of river. All three adults got grazed elbows. Not enough large tunes.
Beautiful area and lots of family fun. Float river was already closed for the season when we discovered it, but can't wait to take our grandkids next year. Rental scooters were a blast!
Great place to take the family
Wonder place for a day trip but not on the weekend
Great place for kids in the summer and all year around dog walks
We all had fun !
Would have been fun if we knew rentals was closed on Sunday and brought our own tubes. Google lists it as open, which technically the park is but the concessions and rentals is closed. If you go on Sunday, bring your own tube! Maybe a little overrated, but it would have been a good way to spend an hour or so, just wish the hours would have been accurate on Google so we didnt waste a trip over there.
Was a very disappointing trip to say the least. Advertisement was very misleading. Very low water high cement which scratches your back and if your not careful the last drop you bang your head against the rock wall. Because that's exactly where the water pushes you. Will not go there again if there was a negative star that's what I would choose.
Worth the drive from Edmonton. Very peaceful, really well maintained and kids can enjoy a lot
The grandkids love it. The cost of renting a tube is reasonable. Its $5.00. And the prices at the concession were reasonable as well. We had a great time there today.
Great family outing.
Fun place for the family.
Great park for kids and good playing area. Awesome facilities for the public and great staff. I love this park!
We had a great time It was a little quite busy but great.
Beautiful in the summer AND the winter!
Beautiful park for a visit
My kids and I love it here! I also love all the nice kids and adults who help out in the river. Such a great place!
Need to have more like this too crowded
Great place for the kids.
Great fun for kids..loved ????
Looks fun. Not very long. Way too crowded.
It was really good, super fun. Water is a little shallow but other then that super fun. 10/10 would recommend.
So much fun for the kids on a hot day.
Fantastic place for family with small children
Very nice, now that renovations have been done
Want a family fun outing. This is the place
Fun place for the kids , but gets very busy.
Great place for a long walk and enjoyable
Best kids adventure for hot summer days
Is very nice place we have a good day for the beach !! But for the tube 3hours wait and when he was are turn we get stuck in the slide they was kids in the water was helping the people to don't get stuck !! Only a staff at the beginning of the slide !! I don't suggest the slide for adult !! Perfect for kids size !!
Fun place to take the kids on a hot day
Just freaking awesome amazing great place to go.
Highly recommended! Free entrance and parking. Kids have lots of stuff to play with other than the river.
Very crowded, not enjoyable to take your small children. The water is brown. The new park looks awesome though!
Tubes are only $5 each. Ice creams are cheap too. Great sandy beaches to build sandcastles on.
Fun place to spend the day with the kids gathered lots of space to sit in the shade while the kids play in the park or float down the lazy river The lazy river is even fun for adults
Awesome, free admission, lots of fun, beautiful park
Great fun, but extremely crowded
awesome little getaway
Good job City of Red Deer for providing this place for people to visit. Great place to take the family on warm/hot summer days. Public washrooms, play ground, tubing and water play area. Tube rentals available on site. Weather restricted operations.
It was really fun. Weird crowds though.
Great attraction but too small for a city the size of red deer. Too crowded. Wait times for rentals, concession and lazy river are way too long
The kids had a great time there an didn't want to leave
Fun location, TBH I expected a bit more for water features. The tube slide gets very cholked up, public does a great job helping out the staff to keep tunes moving. My boys liked the park, and really unless you need to rent tubes ($6 each) it's free!!
Great place for a family day. Go early in the day, pack a picnic lunch. When I say early I mean 9am, you get your choice of spot.
Price is right. Free admission and $5 tube rentals. But it was very congested and the tube ride is short and so many tubes go at once that it jams up all the way down. For locals it's a nice option for the day but I wouldn't suggest driving a long way to visit.
It's a good place to relax & unwind.
Fun place to bring your kids on a hot day
Great place for the family.
nice but very crowded
Really had a good time with kids here, bring lots of food and drinks concession stand has minimal stuff for sale and due to crowd sold out quickly
Good fun but wish they had showers
It's very underwhelming :/
Amazing place to spend the day with the family.
This place was really cool the first time we went. It's really based on the weather. Must be a hot day when you go. The only thing you pay for is the tubes 3 $. If you dont have any of your own tubes to bring. It has a park and picnic tables to have lunch. We hope to go another day when the weather is hot.
A must place to go with family in summer. Only thing is that day there were lots of wasps
The paths are icy in spots!
Cool place, mega mega busy!!!
Smallish beach areas so be early to get a good spot
Great place to spend a day. Pack a lunch and have a summer picnic tubes only 5$ so it's a inexpensive day for family.
Walking trails are lined with mature trees and are well maintained. Always an opportunity to spot wildlife.
