You have all the opinions of people who know the products of Kempf Orchards (Zoo) in Penticton (Canada).
Right now the business receives a score of 4.2 stars out of 5 and that rating has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, it has an average rating is really good, and it is founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we may say that the evaluation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to place evaluations when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Zoo belongs to the category of Orchard.
Great cherries but definitely over priced for u-pick. I wouldn't come back here again for that reason. 3.50/lb is what you'd get at stores and at farm stands. I think part of the u-pick experience should be cheaper fruit especially when it's local and in season.
Great fun.
Get here early and come prepared to wait 1.5+ hours lining up. Staff was very friendly.
Average price but it's totally worth it, their cherries are delicious! Staff are super nice too (I think it's family run) and like another reviewer said, if you don't like crowds then just come in the morning. Nice and quiet. Would definitely come back here again.
Kempf orchard offers great quality cherries for a very reasonable price. I was amazed by the size and the variety of their cherries. The staffs are super friendly and helpful. I have recommended them to all of my families and friends whom I shared the cherries with. We are planning to make cherry picking an annual activity and we will only come to Kempf orchard. Awesome!
If you like cherry picking at this orchards, you better don’t eat any food and don’t drink any water cause after 1 hour 40 minutes line up, they won’t let you use washroom. The price of cherry is incredible expensive compare to other orchards. Went there first day of opening on 2020, all the trees looks like you were eating someone’s left-over plates - so hard to find any good cherries. It was absolute terrible experience!!!
nice place
Best u-pick farm in kelowna...
Wonderful cherry farm here. Close to kelowna, best way to spend an afternoon. Bring sunscreen!
Had a lot of fun, but I hope people to be gentle to the trees when they pick the cherries.
Love this place. So many varieties of cherries to choose from. The staff are very helpful and there is lots of space so no matter how many people are at the orchard it doesn't feel busy.
Picked the most delicious cherries here a few weeks ago and took an entire box back for the family in Calgary!
Delicious stardust cherries. Great fun for the family picking cherries today!
Love their cherries, especially the rainiers. Everyone was very friendly and made sure every customer knew how to pick them properly. They also give you a sample of both cherries before going inside. They are a little pricey though at $4/lb. for red cherries and $5/lb. for rainier cherries. Orchards are nicely taken care of with nicely cut grass and great decor.
Great place for cherry picking, staff are all friendly
The orchard is very clean, the staff was very nice. And they did everything to prevent the spread of CoVid, and the cherries are very quality.
Nice place for cherry picking while bonding with family. The price per lb is reasonable. They provide ladders if you want to reach the cherries from the top of the trees. They just dont have washroom available.
Did not get big cherries on display for sampling in the picking fields. They were half the size in the field.
Nice place for cherry ????picking the owner are friendly, we enjoy watching everyone having fun to pick
Best place in Kelowna to pick your own amount of cherries! Who knew there were So many different varieties. The Kempf family and staff are super friendly! They have several varieties of cherries on this Orchard and are dedicated to selling the fruit when it is at is best! Have been going to this Orchard for fresh hand picked cherriesand there fruits like apricots and peaches for years and will continue in the future!
Wonderful people and perfect plums and apples! Thanks a bunch ????
Nice orchardist family, they did great job, just bring cash they don't accept credit, you should pay 4 $ /lb including bucket. Almost 45$ per bucket for black cherry.
Great place to pick Cherries. we loved the early yellow type a lot. there were good staff but one teenage female worker(may be one of the kids of the owners) was not though. when we asked few questions about our pickings her response was "we have been doing this for long time" I was like meh? rude. apart from that great experience. Update: After owner's apology, i'm bumping it to 4 stars.
The Kempf Family will make your cherry picking experience a memorable one. They're family friendly, extremely helpful and the quality of the cherries is absolutely superb.
Too expensive for picking your own! We were told not to eat cherries because of the chemicals they spray on! Really???In Ontario you can eat as much as you can when picking your fruits. We are not going back , very unpleasant experience!
Owner was rude. We drove 6 hours to get here it says open but they won’t let us get in, won’t even let us borrow the washroom
Very popular place, to be completely honest, you won't be disappointed. The price is on the higher end but the cherries are pretty good. It's a decent sized orchard great for families.
A beautiful orchard great for its yearly u-pick cherries.
EDIT:Thank you for replying, I know it was mother nature and your business has nothing to do with it, here's 5 stars. Hopefully next year will be better! Ran out of rainers early this years, but it was an overall bad year for cherries.
Great experience, be aware ita bot fully open so u can only pick the ones that are available, which i think they are over grew and indeed the cherries are sweet but very soft as well.
Family friendly orchard! It was a nice stop from Surrey BC! The cherries were so sweet and the place was clean.
The nicest people ever, best cherry picking spot.
Popular place for sure. If you are looking for Rainer probably want to go early.
We met with friends here to experience cherry picking. It's a cute orchard run by friendly people. Our friend who called prior to our visit said that they sounded the friendliest among the others she called so we chose them. They welcome you with a little information about the kind of cherries you want to pick and they would ushure you to the area that's best for picking. It was hard to find trees full of cherries at first but it's part of the experience. It was a wonderful time for us to try!
It was the 4th time that all my family went cherry picking in the same place, Kempf Orchard for about six years because we skipped going there when the wild fire was so bad for two summers. We picked 27lb of Staccato cherry so paid $110( they charged $4/1 lb ) including $2 for two boxes. Since four friends of my church friends asked me to buy 5lb each, my husband, my son and I thought it should be enough if we have 7 lb left because our two adult daughters were also buying more cherry and wanted to pay on their own then we could eat them in the car coming back home for about four hours. It is actually first time that I weighed at home and realized they were only 23 lb not 27 lb. So I called them to let them know and expected they would say sorry and promise to give us more on next visit but the owner said their scale(hard to read because not digital)is very accurate and home scale is not working properly most of cases people call to complain. I really believed what she said so re-checked the weight using my measuring cup and realized that mine is just correct so had to call back. The owner’s voice was so cold and said what should I do then, you already left and i am busy and then hung up without saying sorry or any explanation. It was totally disappointing and I felt rather sad than angry. My ten year old son is way more disappointed after he knew what happened and can not go there any more to pat the owner’s dog, Sasha. So disappointing!!
Very fun cherry picking experience. Kids enjoyed it too! Mornings better as it's not as hot. There were lots of rotten ones so had to hunt carefully for big, beautiful yellow and red cherries. Min. 2.5 lbs requirement for adults, no requirement for kids- but easily reach the min. Note: CASH only, and $1 per box! Line up to pay took a very long time though.
quite nice
Great cherry variety and quality! We picked four big buckets ( 45 pounds) of rainier cherries to bring back to Vancouver for friends and colleagues, we all love them very much! They are sweet, crispy and very juicy! It's also a very fun experience to pick you own cheery! The staffs are very helpful and fun to chat with too!
The largest and sweetest cherries with so many different varieties. Incredible!
My family and I went cherry picking and had an overall great time, there were a few gotchas I would've liked to have known prior, and hope people find helpful :) - A bit different from my previous experience, but when you get there you can pick what cherries you'd like to pick and they'll show you a tree where you can pick from. - I found the charges pretty steep. They have a minimum amount each individual in your group must pay. Secondly, they charge you for the box they place the cherries in.
Quiet and lovely
Great location for a family trips.
Great cherries if you don't mind the price
Great fruit trees
Awesome LOCAL, FAMILY OWNED business with a great variety of cherries and fruits.
It's not a bad place to visit. Tons of cherries to pick with lots of shades, so you won't be exposed under the sun. However the price is definitely on the high side, hence the 4 stars only.
Fun experience! Staff were friendly and helpful ????
Fresh fruit, awesome people, really enjoyed my visit.
I planned a trip from Vancouver to come pick cherries here and called to confirm they were open so I was excited! They posted about people having a great time picking cherries on their IG story and I showed up the next day to find a sign saying they are out of cherries until next year. No warning on social media whatsoever. Was very disappointed.
Wonderful cherry picking experience here
(Translated) The place to visit every year, the yellow cherry is really amazing (Original) 每年都要光顾的地方,黄樱桃真的超赞
Lots of good cherries! Was sanitizing buckets and ladders. Also slotted the customers to specific area so that it is easier for us to keep social distancing. There were a lot of people waiting on line that get in so we waited for about 30 min. But it was worth it! They offer sanitized bucket. Full bucket would be around 12 pounds. Only accepts cash.
Good place for picking cherries, family friendly fun. Is pricier than what you’d get at a wholesale, but it’s guaranteed that all of the cherries you’ll be picking won’t be rotten, and will definitely be sweet and crisp. You’re paying for the picking experience. I preferred the golden cherries over the reds.
Upick is available. Early yellow is too small and a bit soft this year due to hot waves.
Kempf Orchards has the sweetest Rainier cherries. Great place to pick different cherry varieties! This place is cherry amazing. ????
we went there July 2014 and picked the yellow cherries, they were soooo good! if you are not sure which orchards to go, just go here
I was there from Vancouver for 4 hrs of driving one way, but I just came back without anything First of all, very expensive... $3.59 and $4.59 per LB. This is much more than buying at Safeway nearby home. No eating while picking because of sprayed..this is not even funny. This is main merit for U picking experience. Minimum purchasing of 5 LB and some other restrictions. There is not even one reason for u picking. I won't be there any more at least this place. This is not negative feedback, just for information. Cheers
Had a great day picking cherries with my family.
U.pick cherries price is a bit expensive on the other hand they are sweet
It was a quick in and out for us as there is no washrooms at this location and kids had to use one. The staffs were friendly but not knowledgeable about the cherries. One thing we found ridiculous was that there is a minimum picking of 2lbs per adult....
Such a great find! The orchard is so well maintained, the fruit is spectacular and everyone is friendly and so very helpful. Thank you for all the hard work it takes to operate this business.
Over priced! Folks please look around outside the city limits for better experience at 1/3rd the price. We were ripped off here. Not good experience.
Cherries are very pricy. 47 bucks for one bucket; way more expensive than buying at Safeway or Costco might be cheaper.
Nice Orchard, unfortunately the cherry are not ready for u-pick yet. Maybe just a few more days.
Wow,lots of nice cherries! Once everything was explained, understood why all the "rules" (and no, there weren't 10). Find some of the comments silly, found the staff very helpful, answered all questions. Maybe don't go if you have no patience/respect and don't care about quality or having a fun experience. If all you want are cheap cherries,by all means head to Costco/supermarket and support commercial growers from US etc. I hear it is lovely down the aisles this time of year. Will definitely be back!
Fresh red and the yellow cherries, Staffs are awesome friendly and the price is affordable..
What a great farm for cherry picking and having fun. Picked yellow and red cherries for two hours. Two full buckets. none of the cherry is not sweet or not delicious. People are happy to help you and love smile in the farm. Will recommend this farm for anyone visit Kelowna in the summer. A must-be place for me.
I had a great experience picking cherries here. In and out quickly without hassle. It is CASH ONLY for payment. Very fair prices.
Overpriced and unfriendly staff. I went there at the end of June and we were escorted by their staff at all times. She (the staff) was stating that we have to collect whatever we touch. Apparently, their cherries were damaged because of the rain and they were telling us that it is the mother of nature and we have to buy it that way! They were selling it too pricey as well, probably because of their damaged cherries. Also, if you go there as a family, please note that every adult has to purchase a certain amount (I guess it was 2.5 pounds). In my bucket, more than half were damaged. I am sure it was a better place before the rain, and I was probably just unlucky, but we literally stayed there 15 mins, couldn't enjoy our time, had to purchase damaged ones etc. We could have gotten better and cheaper ones from the superstore. Well, we eventually did once we had to trow half of what we got from them. Response to the manager; Thank you for your response. However, we were told that "we have to pick whatever we touched" and that is why we were also escorted! That was very frustrating. I appreciate your response, but you did not tell us that we can pick what we desire. I vividly remember that day as it was supposed to be a nice weekend trip for us. Please do not post misleading responses to change the situation. Your place is great, and I wish we could enjoy it.
Such a nice fruit.... Worth long drive....
Cherry picking on July 1, great times and plenty of cherries to pick
First day of the cherry season. The cherry looks good. Red is 3.25/lb and Rainer is 4.25/lb.
Very nice staff. Don't miss sour cherries!
the staff is very welcoming and nice! the cherries are also in great condition and there’s so much of them! would definitely recommend this cherry upick 100%
Awesome family place to pick cherries! Very friendly family and the trees are very accessible and close from the entree.
price not good, and you must pay for cherries and iron bucket together!
Best place in town to get your cherries when they are in season.
The u pick was great fun for the whole family. I would recommend it to all who love great???? and family fun
Loved picking cherries with my family. Friendly people who run the orchard
It is the best place to pick some cherry's
Everybody loves coming here for cherries. Prices are great
That is ok even the cherries are much more expensive than others, But no public washroom???? Can’t even wash my hands after we are done, unacceptable. Never come back
Stunningly beautiful
A great set up for the experience of picking cherries. You don't save any money, you are paying for the experience. Family friendly.
One of the best orchards that I have tried. Very friendly atmosphere and helpful staff.
Fun cherry picking orchard. The kids loved their time picking cherries. This was our second time going there and definitely won't be the last.
Came here for cherry picking due to the high ratings, but wish I had looked deeper into the comments. Like a few people mention, Kempf Orchards had a number of restrictions and the cherries were charged at a price of $3.59 and $4.59 per lb. Also, every two people must pick a minimum of 5 lbs. We had a group of 10 (mostly children), meaning we had to take 25lbs. We did not want 25 lbs of cherries thus a few sat out of the cherry picking experience. Owners were very rude when we asked if those sitting out can come into the orchard to accompany the family. They repeatedly suggested that we were harming their "livelihood" by getting extra people out in the field to eat their cherries straight from the trees in which we had no intentions of doing. There are better upick spots in the area.
(Translated) Great time with family (Original) สนุกกับครอบครัวครั้งดีๆ
The best place to pick cherries, so many varieties. Everyone is so very friendly and helpful, ask a question and it will be answered and the orchard itself is so immaculate and beautiful. We have picked every variety and loved them all. Thank you Kempf farms ????????❤️
Love this place great for kids
Long line up and parking even before they open at 9am (to 3pm). Due to Covid - 19, there's no washroom. They are organized but you'd wait at least 1.5 hours if you get there 30 minutes after opening. The cherries are good and plump. The trees aren't too tall but only one adult to climb and hold the sanitized ladder. $4.5 /lb lapins and $6/lb stardust. Stardusts tasted sweet and crunchy but run out quick so get those first.
Best cherrys for your buck. A must go if around Kelowna
It’s only open on Saturday, we came on a Friday, and only found out when we arrived. On Google it says it’s open at 9 am 7 days a week. We drove 6 hours just to go there and our children were very disappointed.
Beautiful space.. cherries are excellent! Very kind and helpful people!
There is 'minimum u-pick amount' as 2.5lb per adult.
Very tasty cherries, amazing decorations, very organized orchards. Note the minimum purchase per person for u-pick also they spray the fruits so eating on site, but the cherries tastes so good I wish I picked more. Recommend!
Very unorganized placed. Staff are rude and unprofessional. They do not use digital scale so will not realize the weight of your cherries on top of that they only accept cash, No Debit No Visa and no receipt! Are they trying to hide anything from CRA? I had only $70 cash with me and the total price came to $95 but because they do not use digital scale I believe they took more than $24 worth of cherries from my buckets. This place is a total rip off not cool and pathetic. Last time in Kelowna I went to Arndt Orchards (30 seconds drive from this place) and I now realized they had better cherries, they use digital scale so you can see the exact weight and on top of that they are cheaper and they accept credit card (Visa) and very friendly staff. I strongly recommend NOT to go to this place!
Has great fun at this place. Quality of cherries is awesome
Best Cherries picking place!!! Cherries taste the best and service, place is simply the best. My kids loved it❤️
I love it! :)
For the past 10 years we have not gone to another orchard other than Kempf. Year after year their cherries continue to amaze us with their freshness and taste. You can see and honestly feel how passionate Kempf Orchards are about cherries and it is reflected in their fruit. 100% recommend for anyone wishing to find delicious cherries!
Kempf Orchards strives to provide the best quality fruit and fruit picking experience for all its customers.

(Translated) The price is more expensive than others, the attitude of the staff is extremely poor, and even deliberately deceived the outsiders, took us to a garden that has been picked up countless times, and could not see a few good cherries for a long time. When we paid for it, we found that the whites who came in quickly could pick up the big and good fruit and found it fooled. The attitude with them is bad, saying that the orchard is like this. If you are not satisfied, you can go to another home. In short, I suggest you not to go to this house. There is an orchard just 60 meters away from this home.
First time cherry picking and kempf had lots of trees to pick from! Cherries were juicy and sweet and
Nice place to pickup cherry
Best cherries ive ever had. My 1.5 year old son had a blast picking the cherries. Great friendly staff too.
I found this family run orchard few years back, best find Everrr!! . Great tasting cherries, peaches, apricots. Cant beat the Quality, and the owners are very friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back to Kempf Orchards.
Too pricey but great experience :-)
I enjoyed picking the cherries here, I had never been before so it was a neat experience. I'm sure the restrictions are there for a reason and put in place because of people being disrespectful to their livelihood. I would much rather pay the $3.50/lb and know it is local to me than $3.50/lb knowing it comes from another country. It didn't take us long to get to 5 lbs so don't plan on spending all day here.
not many cherries left when we visited in mid July. And the price is relatively high. Maybe the cost goes up in general.
So great to be able to pick up fresh cherries like that!
Very good place..nice friendly people...kids and adult basket for fruit picking...must visit.
Best summer activity with friends and family to be able to go and pick your own cherries!! Such a beautiful location with very friendly, kind and helpful staff. Cherries are amazing and you can see how much the owners care about the safety of their customers in regards to COVID precautions. 10/10 recommend!
This is a great family owned orchard located in Kelowna BC. Went with my cousin last year for their early yellows and will be going many more times the fruit was fantastic and the family was well knowledged on all of the cherries. Very helpful overall an amazing experience
Their Rainier cherries is so sweet! We were there 2 weeks ago. The farm is huge and beautiful. The guide in the farm is informative and knowledgeable about their cherries and the guy in counter is awesome! Aside from being a Cash only, overall this place is a must visit if you are in Kelowna!
Cherries was great it was nice and sweet juicy there are no cherries that you take that would be a mistake the trees are very well taken care of as I was also grew up at a farm but not here in Canada as far as I can say don't eat while picking as pesticides are in there will make your tongue itch and might give you a stomach ache now dont be alarm when I say pesticides cause it doesn't seems to be alot
Alass! The Kempf's welcomed us with open arms after a tiresome trip searching for u-pick fruit across kelowna areas. They graciously let us pick some sour cherries and grape leaves. This was the hospitality we were looking for. Reccomend.
Loved my time here, couldn’t see myself going anywhere else from now on. Thanks Kempf family for opening your farm to my family. It was a time well spent!
(Translated) Picking cherries for the first time, I feel very good, everyone should do a good job of sun protection. (Original) 第一次摘樱桃,感觉非常好,大家要做好防晒工作
Good cherries but rude staff. They only accept cash!
Amazing time, very good set up and prices
Too costly and too many restrictions
Amazing cherries. Great staff. Best in the okanagan.
I absolutely LOVE Kempf's orchards, not only do I love it. My ENTIRE family is extremely excited every single year when they open! I can't go a single summer without getting their cherries, I love the staff, LOVE the family, love the area and LOVE the cherries!!!!
Great experience for family fun.
Was able to pick 2 buckets of cherries
Great
Best cherries in the Okanagan. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. Come here every year. The prices are fair in competition, for quality cherries! Support local instead of cherries from other countries... will be continuing to support the Kempf orchard! Thank you!!
I guess this place is one of the main on googel map so became so famous.. it's almost same price as buying in superstore 4.50 per lb for stardust. I don't think in going back there nothing different with other cheapr u pick farms... lady will tell you 10 things you what you not allow to do... no good place to enjoy.
Loved the trees, relaxing experience and friendly people.
Great cherries, and a wonderful place to pick!
(Translated) Have a good time here (Original) 在这里过得愉快
Popular place. All is yours right in the morning. And in a short time is like on the busy street. Big variety of many different sorts of cherries. You will differently find what you like. Prices are average. You can see that owners taking care, friendly with customers and people pay back being careful with trees.
If you want the rainier cherries, the right time to visit is July.
Friendly service. Awesome fresh juicy cherries ^^
Farming area !! Good for u pick
Over priced and silly idea of not to eat while picking
Brought my family and friends here to experience picking our own farm fresh fruit. We came into it having high hopes and were more than satisfied with the outcome. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had! Will definitely be back again and will recommend Kempf Orchards time and time again.
Great family run business.Their history of orcharding shows in the quality of their fruit. Amazing cherries , friendly people. I come every year from Calgary to pick red and yellow cherries. Highly recommend you stop by next time your in town!!
Nice place to do cherry picking
Cherries are so huge and juicy here
Cherrys are big and sweet
Friendly staff and reasonably priced.
I have been at Kempf Orchards a few years ago where I spent hundreds of dollars on cherries; however, this last time I went, I was extremely disappointed with their service. I brought my extended family (visiting from Hong Kong) to Kempf Orchards because I wanted them to experience the joy of picking cherries! When we got there, the woman working there said we had to pick 5 pounds of cherries for every two adults. This is not stated on their website or any of their social media. This was also not a rule the last time we were here. As we were a huge party of 18 people, we had to pick 45 pounds of cherries. We had both seniors and disabled individuals, yet the quota still applied to them. They were not even allowed to sit inside the orchard. When I tried to explain the situation to the woman working there, she was extremely combative and defensive. At some point in the conversation, she even responded “So? .....” Unacceptable. I will not be recommending this orchard to any of my friends and family. Kempf Orchards, on your website you advertise that you are a “family friendly” institution. However, today, when I came to your orchard, I felt belittled and disappointed.
