This Zoo corresponds to the category of National park.
This park is massive! quiet and breath taking! It is too bad we only stayed here one night. We got to hike the Tableland trail which was quite nice to see the new mountains. Will definitely want to come back and stay longer.
We stayed in gros morne for a week and had an amazing time. If you love to hike, there are so many trails to enjoy the sites on.
Could spend weeks here exploring. Must see subset in Rocky Harbour, must shop at the Glass Station, must eat at Earle’s. Tablelands, Western Brook Beach, Trout River pond zodiac tour with Wild Gros Morne.
Beautiful place to hike. A full day adventure on the mountain. There are a lot of worth while trails in the park
Took a ride up Trout River Pond by pleasure boat. Absolutely breathtaking. The reddish brown mountains are The Tablelands in GrosMorne National Park. If you can get a local to take you up this Pond I would most definitely recommend it!
Beautiful hiking and views
What a magnificent place to visit, a place of great geological history and a fantastic photo op! The restaurant at the boat launch is quite refreshing after your walk from the parking lot. While in Newfoundland you can not miss this extraordinary natural site!
If you enjoy hiking, you can hike one or two beautiful trails per day
The beauty of this place is breathe taking!
Gros Morne National Park is a World Heritage site and is quite beautiful. It's rocky landscape is unique. We ran into sheep during our stay. Green Gardens Trail led to some and they were cute and unexpected. I would highly recommend at least hiking the area.
National park is great. Only had time to hike the Gros Mourne mountain trail and the view was amazing. You could see far and wide but it is a long hike up there. Many other hikes around.
This place is so different it's hard to describe. Untouched, beautiful, rugged terrain. A hikers paradise on the edge of the most spectacular coastal life Canada has to offer. Everyone should see this place at least once. Anyone that does will be coming back.
The National Park was amazing! We loved the different trails and the boats tour on the Western Brook Pond.
If you are in Newfoundland and don't go here you will regret it. Hit up the Western Brook Pnd tour, Tablelands, hike up Gros Morne mountain, and go to the Viking settlement if you have time.
What an amazing place to explore and get away. The West coast of Newfoundland is absolutely gorgeous - as someone once told me "Gros Morne makes Frank Sinatra look like a hobo in a suit" The nature is gorgeous, and the campsites are well maintained. We stayed at Berry Hill, and were very impressed by the public kitchen area, the private showers (although narrow and push to keep on showers, it's great bring the only person in it). The campsites have raised Parks Canada fireplaces, they make starting and maintaining a fire easy. Firewood is available to purchase but I do not recall the cost.
Visitors center is a great place to start your planning! Knowledgeable staff and the park is beautiful. Wish I had more time to visit and better weather. We did one great day at the Western Brook Pond boat tour on Canada day. It's cold even when sunny so dress warm!
Great facilities, beautiful scenery and hikes of all varieties of intensity!
Outstanding beauty and scenery. Definitely see both sides of the park!!
Hit as many look off spots as you can. Consider staying on the Rocky Harbour side of the park as many of the trails are there. We stayed in Trout River and got to start our day at the Tablelands trail and the day got better from there. Would love a map of lookoff spots as many aren't on the official park map. A beautiful drive, hikes, sightseeing and experience.
Beautiful scenery, interesting hikes, helpful staff. Well worth the trip.
We did the Northern Rim and Long Range traverses in 2016. Including the hike up Gros Morne and a day trip to the Tablelands. The park itself is beautiful; the view down Western Brook Pond is incredible. I wish we'd have thought to take the boat tour as well for a different perspective of it. The park staff are wonderful people, very safety oriented, and exceptionally knowledgeable. The day use areas are well maintained and organized. If you happen to be on this side of Newfoundland, you should most certainly stop into the park.
This park is a must see if you are in the east coast of Canada. I will never forget the summer fog in the early morning when we arrived in Newfoundland. Lots of exploring and view points to discover. I highly recommended booking a yurt for a memorable and relaxing experience
What an amazing place to visit. Even though we had rain and the remnants of a hurricane fly through while we were there, it was 3 days of staring in awe at the beauty of this earth. The unique geological features in the park, the many historical sites to visit and the well maintained hiking trails are just a few of the reasons to come to this park.
What a place . So much to do and so much area to do them . If you like anything outdoors from long hiking or short hiking trails . They have a trail for everyone out there.
Over 70 kilometres of coastal beauty with saltwater and fresh water fiords. Part of the ancient Appalachian mountains. As a UNESCO World Heritage site Newfoundland boasts 1085 square kilometres as spectacular ancient geological world called the Gros Morne National Park.
Canada is known for national parks. This Gros Morne is one of our treasures. So much to do for all different levels of activists: walking, hiking, kayaking, boat tours, etc. Definitely take a boat tour. Just prepare yourself for a long walk to board the boat though.
Beautiful! Definitely worth the trip. The hike to the summit was difficult but the hike back down was absolutely brutal! Bring 3 litre of water for sure whether you think you'll need it or not as you never know if your companions might. Also, take a lunch AND snacks to keep you going on the trail. It's honestly more of a climb than a hike. I wondered why there weren't photos after the summit and figured that out for myself. By the time you reach the summit, you're too exhausted to care to take photos! Bring bug spray!
Expect a minimum 5 hour hike including stops + quite a steep climb to reach the summit
Excellent time here. The trails we did were well marked and maintained. Our campsite (Green Point) was a favorite. The staff here were impeccable and the facilities are renovated and lovely. Beautiful ocean views from the site. Only downside to the whole thing was getting to the visitor info at 7:50 and being told they were already closed. We turned off the main drag after seeing their sign saying "Open til 8". The girl working was less than polite / annoyed at us needing a map.
Probably the most amazing place we have ever brought our children. It couldn't have been better. The facilities were out of this world, I've never seen nicer at a camp site. All of the towns were quaint and lovely. The swimming pool and aquarium are Lifesavers on rain days. And the hikes were easily some of the coolest we've done. A trip we will never forget!
Very difficult hike, but worth it. Take lots of water on hot days, make sure you are in good shape for the hike
One of the best national parks I have visited in both the US and Canada. Not too crowded and the campsites are clean and close to beautiful beaches and viewpoints.
Beautiful landscapes to discover, hiking trails for all levels, a must see!
Really really nice national park. We almost went to all trails in the park but the ones closed due to flood damage.it has two parts. The part along the trout river generally has lake and mountain view. The best part is it has very very pure water and it's tap water tastes like spring water. Please fill up all of your container before you go to the side of the ocean views. The little town there has lots of cottages and all have a great view. BUT it's tap water is a bit yellow and it had a bit strange smells when you boil it. I don't dare to use such water and bought several gallons of pure water from the general store and it is very expensive. Anyway we had a very good time in the park and we did a lot of good hikings.
Excellent visitor center, wonderful views, and mostly great campsites! Fascinating geology all over the park and helpful rangers. One campsite had no clean water (it was all chlorinated and unavailable for drinking, showering, etc.), but the rest of the park was great.
Last June during our 3 month tour of Canada we said goodbye to the beautiful St. John's and drove 7 hours across Newfoundland in a driving rain and fog to Deer Lake. Today we drove north, parked our car and hiked in over an hour (for some 2+ hours, check the map and make sure you have the proper hiking attire and are dressed appropriately) to catch our boat tour of the magnificent landlocked fjord. There were low hanging clouds and steady light rain. The top of the fjord mountains were sheared off by glaciers. The views were humbling to realize we are all grains of sand in the whole scheme of things. It will all be here long after we've returned to dust. The face of the Tin Man etched on a cliff. Moose tracks and wild berry bushes as far as the eye can see. Things starting to come alive. This was one of the days for the memory book. One of the world's cleanest lakes untouched by man. This has to be one of the world's most beautiful National Parks. Everyone should have this on their bucket list. Just do it! Kindly click the like button if this review or my photos are useful.
Beautiful National Park in Newfoundland Canada. Give yourself at least two days to visit.
Beautiful scenery. If you are spending a few days here get a annual park pass. There is lot to do here. There are a lot great RV parks and camp sites.
A very beautiful hiking place. There is a rocky climb. Hikers must be in decent shape to get up that section. We were lucky and saw some moose.
Absolutely staggering views! There are many places to explore, although speak with guides at the discovery centre before venturing forth on to trails. Some have inconsistent information about elevation and difficulty. A Parks Canada employee is your best bet!
One of my favourite parts of NL, a must do If you are on the west coast of NL. A very beautiful park with lots of fun trails.
One of the most majestic national park I’va ever visited. Clearly a must if you visit Newfoundland. In 2 days and a half we visited the Tablelands, Lobster Cove, Broom Point, Green Point, we climbed the Gros-Morne and we did the boat tour on the Western Brook Pond. We stayed at the Berry Hill camping, which is pretty central and let you get pretty much anywhere easily (except for the Tablelands which are pretty far but still worth it). We did the free guided tour of the Tableland which was really informative and completed the wonderful landscape perfectly. So many beautiful memories in this park!
We had a blast here at the Gros Morne National Park! We started the day with Tablelands & Trout River, so unique! Did the Western Brook Pond hike/boat tour; breathtaking views (make sure you book the boat tour online and have cash with you; 65$ per person for 2-hours knowledgeable and entertaining boat tour). The fishing museum/houses at Broom Point is quite interesting as well. At Green Point, there’s 6km of coastal trail. We also had a blast at Lobster cove lighthouse, saw an arctic hare there! Just driving in the mountains is a blast!!
Amazing experience, breathtaking views and scenery. You must make a trip out even if you're not from newfoundland, its very obvious why its a unesco world heritage site!!! The table lands are like nothing ive ever seen before, and the hiking and walking in the park is world class for sure!! If youre adventurous they have multi day hikes as well and gros morne mountain is extraordinary!!!
Place of serene beauty, interesting geological formations and enjoyable drive on a well maintained roads. Be sure to take Fjord boat tour, you will see some amazing views. Stayed for a week in a nearby city and loved every day of it.
Fabulous fjordland boat trip to see waterfalls a few hundred metres high, well worth the 40 minute walk, but wrap up warm regardless of the season. Great staff with some amazing skills on the spoons.!
beautiful park with lot's of hiking paths and so kind park rangers that help you out with things you need to know ... amazing experience
I've seen spectacular sights all over the world, but Gros Morne National Park is one of my favorite places on the planet. The scenery here is simply stunning. I've been here a few times, and the sights still take my breath away. Amenities include nice, well equipped campsites, helpful, knowledgeable staff, informative visitor centers and hiking trails appropriate for people of every level of physical fitness. To get the most out of your visit, I recommend taking part in as many guided hikes as you can -- Parks Canada guides offer a wealth of knowledge, and can often get you to spots that you might not have thought of going to on your own. There are a couple of guided Tablelands hikes that are especially interesting. The hike up Gros Morne mountain offers particularly spectacular views, if you're up for a challenging day hike on rugged terrain. If you want something a little more down to earth, the Western Brook Pond trail is very flat and easy to walk on, and it offers amazing views of a land-locked fjord unique to this park. While you're there, the boat tour of Western Brook pond is well worth the price. A must for any Canadian nature-lover's bucket list.
This is a bucket list destination! 20 Hiking trails from easy to challenging against a variety of landscapes and weather patterns - a week won't be enough to see and experience everything. The park is huge so plan your activities accordingly e.g. the north end of the park past Cow Head is over 120 kms. away from the tablelands in the south. Tiny towns are nestled within the park too and are filled with friendly folks that are passionate about where they live and work. A must see!
One of the most beautiful places in the world. As an American who traveled to several of our nation's most popular national parks when a child in the 1970s and now laments how crowded and over-used and stressed many are it was simply astounding to spend a week at Gros Morne in 2012. Even at the height of Canadian tourist season it was empty when compared to any of the most popular US national parks. And the landscape is spectacular. From the Tablelands to Western Brook Pond the landscape can seem otherworldly---literally---the Tablelands are a World Heritage site and one of the few places on Earth that the mantle rises to the planet's surface. The Tablelands more resemble Mars, with its reddish tinted rocks and soil than what you would expect of a lush green North Atlantic province (and a drive down the main highway distinctly shows the contrast, green on one side as far as the eye can see and red on the other). Western Brook Pond is simply otherworldly as well. A beautiful wooded, then boggy set of landscapes unfold before you during the multi-kilometer hike to the pond's shore, where tour boats take you into this very remote fjord now closed to the sea. Towering cliffs surround you with abundant waterfalls descending every few hundred meters, with thick forest covering any land not too steep for them. At the eastern end a floating dock beckons the backpacker who has pre-registered to hike out the 38 miles through a seemingly impossible gorge trail. These are a mere few highlights. The people of Western Newfoundland are warm and welcoming and there is good lodging to be had as well as plenty of hiking, camping, and wilderness backpacking opportunities. This all describes the brief warm months. Winter here is evidently an entirely different matter.
Rossmoor news also a UNESCO world heritage site, in addition to being a national. It is Spectacularly Beautiful !!!
10 miles / 16km great views. We were a little worried about the clouds in the morning but they did clear off just as we got to the top. The way down was not what I expected after the rock slide trail on the way up.
Gros Morne is just beautiful. With limitless hiking options and tons more, you can never run out of things to do. The Table lands are a must see, with a landscape reminiscent of Mars. You might even see moose on the side of the road! Rocky Harbour is a great place to stay, with many local restaurants and cottages.
Beautiful park. Very well kept. Definitely make sure you have proper hiking shoes for hiking the mountain. Doesn't take full 8 hours if you keep a steady pace!
We did a few hikes in the area. Baker Brook Falls was a great hike throug marshes and forest. Easy terrain and some great views. Climbing Berry hill before or after is a must to make this trip worth while.
Beautiful! The views are stunning, highways are good inside the park. We found a cheap campsite in the park ($20 tent camping, full services ????). The hiking was awesome. The only catch was we had a hard time finding a restaurant with a sea food planter to share.
WOW, JUST WOW! This national park is way nicer than we expected!! There are tons of hikes to do, and each view is impressive! You have all kinds of hikes to do, from easy ones to tough ones! If you do some long ones, make sure you have enough water and snacks! Even if you don't like hiking, the views from the road and camping are worth the detour! It's a must-see!
Absolutely amazing!! Amazing landscape, hikes (for all levels), camping, and art scene. Cool towns and small diners/pubs. Would go back again for sure!! I even noticed that some of the trails are wheelchair accessible.
Gros Morne National Park is a Canadian national park and world heritage site located on the west coast of Newfoundland. At 1,805 km2 (697 sq mi), it is the second largest national park in Atlantic Canada after Torngat Mountains National Park, which has an area of 9,700 km2 (3,700 sq mi).
Absolutely loved it! Such a beautiful place! I will definitely be going back!
Beautiful place all around, also the place where I was born.
absolutely stunning! giant cliffs...just a shame you must pay $250 for a guided day hike, not allowed to go solo
Really enjoyed the scenery of the park with many breath taking views but it is an expensive tourist trap. If I come back I may try camping instead and cooking my own food.
Beautiful tour. Very easy walk. Stops every couple minutes for exposition. English and French. Total distance is around 2 km.
I’m from St. John’s but it’s took me 54yrs to visit Gros Morne! Don’t wait another year you too must visit - a beautiful and scenic park with hikes for every level! So much to see and do ! Take your time and enjoy it all .,
The beauty will absolutely take your breath away! Pictures do not do it justice. There's so much to do, it would take multiple trips to see it all.
Beautiful park. Very clean, well maintained....
A National Treasure !! A must see part of the country. Breathtaking views, amazing hiking trails & small communities with amazing hospitality. I would highly recommend visiting here & will definitely be back again.
Nature at its best. Beautiful drives and trails. Fjords view are scattered and need to travel a bit to cover all of them. Travelled during Sep when fall colors were not yet changed. Had an amazing trip #2020
Amazing and beautiful and worth every hurting muscle today lol the views are stunning!!! We did the summit.
Really enjoyed the park and surrounding areas. Lots to see and do. Nice people.
What a wonderful, scenic part of our province. I can't believe I've gotten this long without visiting before. Don't make the same mistake that I did. Visit and enjoy!
Amazing scenery with lots of hiking trails for the amatuer or the seasoned veteran. The boat tours are great and fairly inexpensive and there's a lot of great places to eat.
There are wonderful sceneries everywhere in the park! Camping sites are beautiful and lots of trails are available for hiking!
Awesome national park. You can spend weeks in there. Great place to spend time.
Lots of trails of different lengths to choose from. Dissapointed by the lack of access to the most iconic spot in the park which is now accessible with private tour guide for an extremely high cost.
So amazing, wonderful hiking experience, did it about 7hours. Pretty hard to get down because of lots of sharp rocks. But worth it.
Many things to see! We hiked Gros Morne Summit. Be prepared for a 6-7 hour hike if you're hiking Gros Morne Summit. I'm not a trained hiker and rarely even do cardio workouts, so this was challenging for me but I woukd do it again. The views are worth it.
This place is absolutely magical. The scenery and people are second to none. From the pristine ocean beaches to deep glacier carved bays there is something for everyone.
Beautiful! Scenic! I highly recommend the hike to gross morne.
Stay @ Rocky Harbour and explore far as Port au choix.. Had a time with my great neice she loved it!!
Beautiful park. Thoroughly enjoyed the 3 days we spent there. Highlights include the Tablelands Trail (go for the 10am guided tour) and stopping at random lookout points.
Awe inspiring landscapes and amazing hikes, well worth the trek. Canadian rugged and natural beauty at its finest!
Amazing place. Check out everything you can. If you love nature don't be afraid of coming off high season. Try to connect with local guides and businesses. Remember to take your time.
So beautiful, instantly moved to the top of my list of favourite place on earth
If your looking for tranquility, breathtaking beauty and small town charm, this is the place for you to visit. If your looking for hiking, kayaking and adventure this is the place for the other you. So much to see and do here. Oh and don't forget to check out the fjords and the tablelands. You won't be disappointed, bring your camera your gonna need it.
Perhaps the most beautiful Canadian National Park. Such varied terrain. A geological masterpiece.
We went hiking here and camped. Outstanding hikes and stunning views!
What a hike we had. The table lands were unbelievable. Great hike.
One of my favourite places in the world! This park is amazing, but you've got to out of the car and off the main road to really experience it. Be sure to get out and hike some of the trails - there is lots of variety from easy well maintained loops to backcountry map and compass multiday adventures (the long range backcountry route is a must for those with the experience and time to do it). There are also loads of great cultural activities to take in - from music to theater to great local food. Watch out for moose! And be sure to try a moose burger or some stew (don't worry there are too many of them and they are actually an envasive species introduce to NL about 100 years ago)
