Nice little zoo with a lot of character,.

This is a suitable place to take a young family. The Tahuna playground, beach and cafe are directly opposite so you can easily fill in a morning with young children. There are many cages that appear to have no animals in them. Perhaps the animals were well hidden in the foliage. I felt the price was expensive for what it was. Regular visits are beyond the budget of most young families. The animals there are well cared for. We actually enjoyed feeding the farm animals (sheep and goats) the most.

Nelson own little "zoo" great for the younger children, variety of animals is fair but to be expected of where it is location wise. Other than that it's cheap for the family day outting and is within the vicinity of other fun activities within the tahuna beach area!

Compact park, nice variety of animals. A particular favourite of ours were the primates. Informative signage scattered throughout the park allows the casual visitor to wander around at their own pace. The feeding shows are well presented. The friendly staff and volunteers are a pleasure to talk to. Ask a question, they'll be sure to know the answer. And all for a modest cost. Do take the time to visit.

I visited 10 years ago with my older children and decided to come back with Miss 5. She had a fantastic time and loved getting close to and feeding the animals. Only cost $15 for us both and we spent hours here. A short walk from the beach, park and our hotel we loved how convenient it was. We love that is involved in conservation of our native species and has a breeding program for native birds. One of the rare places you can see a real Tuatara!

Amazing little place, such good development over the years. The reptile room, bird aivery and another exhibit was closed when we went which was a bummer, but the other exhibits looked great. I think their gardener needs more support as there is a ton more vegetation across the park, and the reptile and herb gardens were overrun. Still a nice little place to take the little ones.

Well laid out small zoo - like grounds... clean and tidy. A variety of animals on site, but not a large variety... There are interesting naming and relevant information signs at each cage, but they are not obvious for the animals that were actually in each cage at the time of our visit. Several animals were off site at the time of our visit. It would have been more helpful to have signs of every animal in each cage. After all, it's a learning experience for everyone, adults as well.

If you don’t have small kids, it might not be that great; you can see all the animals in about 30-40 minutes and some of them are just farm animals. If, like me, you have small kids that like farm animals, it’s great. They can feed the goats, sheep, and alpaca and also see a few other animals. ...or, if they really like farm animals, you can go buy more feed bags and feed the goats for a while longer.

We were there for an informative talk on the kea and learned some new facts about them. Really appreciated the staff member who went out of his way to help us find the ruru/morepork hiding in their enclosure. Perfect sized attraction for small kids.

This place really surprised me, great for young kids. Good collection of monkeys and farm animals. Worth buying a bag of food so the kids can feed the sheep, goats and alpacas. Playground and trampolines in the middle and good grass for a picnic. Highly recommended

It was really sweet, the carers are so well informed and enthusiastic. They also have time to talk to you, we had an extensive conversation about animal preservation. The animals are happy and well cared for. The combination of a petting zoo and regular zoo is really fun since you can pet and feed some of the animals.

It's well laid out. The animals are in as natural terrain as is possible. The staff are very friendly and always up for a chat about what they are doing and the animals they are looking after. They seem to have a wealth of knowledge. There is always improvements going on with minimum of disruption to the animals and us the visitors. Highly recommend to all.

As a local with a toddler we have an annual pass for 1 child plus any adult. My daughter loves it and other adults can take her too. Facilities are a little run down but it's got a good range of animals.

The actual place is a wonderful outing for young people and an education opportunity, one would have to remember to ignore the rude manner of the older lady at the front counter who I watched twice snap back an answer to the two 7 ~ 9 year old children who asked simple questions relating to park critters. She managed to ask in an abrupt tone of one poor wee girl if she could read! I only hope the wee girl could because this lady would have embarrassed her as we all heard! The next wee soul asked a similar question and was snapped at ~ I then followed the attention of these two children and couldn't find an answer myself- I am much older ????which would suggest that the deficiencies were Nature Lands inability to be clear. Tidy up the customer experience for your target audience.

I guess its ok if you have small kids ( toddlers) wish we where told when we paid, that some of the animals had been (put on holiday) as inclosers where being maintained. Dont think its value for money, can be all seen in 40 or so minutes, probably won't return.

Beautiful wee park, animal keepers are lovely, shame about the lady on the front counter. Arrived to the park and my daughter went to look for the frog in tank in the entrance, she asked the lady at the front counter if it was still there, to which she got a very snarky remark asking can she read my daughter looked very hurt as she is 8 and of course she can read she was just very excited...I used the entertainment book coupon to which the lady looked at me like I was costing her money, when infact Natureland has agreed to be in it. We come ever year to natureland on our trip up and that by far was the worst experience with a staff member we have had in the last 8 years

One of the best spots in Nelson. Very friendly, hard working and informative staff who really love the animals and take great care of them. Unfortunately Nelson City Council set a blind eye during this year financial planning and didn't support Nature Land to the required level. Many thanks to other Nature Land sponsors! Our kids love the place and learned a lot about the animals. Thank you!! P.S. Please realise that Nature Land staff is working 7 days per week and many of them work for free. They are nothing like those grumpy social workers who never had a real job.

I was disappointed to see the sad state of affairs that these wildlife were in. Their enclosures were small and their lives seemed limited. I was horrified to see the dead turtle and snake in a bottle at the start of the tour. All the animals need more space if they are going to be kept in captivity. Please look at expanding your enclosures. U fortunately I did not enjoy this experience.

Spotted signs for this little zoo as we walked to the beach cafe this morning and decided to pop in. So impressed this well kept zoo had something for everyone. I loved the care that had been taken to create interesting but safe habitat’s for the animals, cages have been cleverly designed to enable easy viewing and cages that were empty were labeled so we didn’t waste time hoping to spot something. Lovely areas to sit and picnic, loved that even the children’s playground was unique. Lots of opportunity to get close to animals, fed them and touch them. Super clean and tidy, all the animals seemed as happy to see us as we were to see them. Well worth a visit!

A great place to take younger children. A variety of animals. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed photographing the animals. I havent been there for a while. They have upgraded some of the enclosures. It's looking great.

Some cool animals - lemurs and monkeys especially, make sure you hear the lemurs scream their head off! But other than that it was a bit quiet. Just a few fenced off areas with a few birds. Bit overpriced for $12 per person for what you get.

A fun spot to take the family. It only costs $25 for a family pass. It's in a great location situated close (within walking distance) to other attractions, parks and Tahunanui beach.

Natureland was awesome. Great knowledge willingly given by the staff. The lemurs have a cool tunnel run as well. We went at feeding time and so glad we did (although not planned).
