Best place to enjoy a sunrise or sunset.
Neck Point Park is such an amazing location if you want ocean views, a great walk and a relaxing afternoon by the water. The trails are accessible and go for quite a while. I would recommend!!
Fantastic views of the ocean and great trails...even an 80 year old man was able to walk the simple trails with his cane and a hand, plus there are the stairs to the fantastic views or the little trails through the rocky steps to closer action to the edge
Neck Point Park trail are easy to walk. Everyone can identify with a fragrant garden, with beauty of sunset, with the quiet of nature, with a beach shores
Real good vibes
Had a great time walking around the park looking at the shore and the beautiful nature
One of the best walking parks in Nanaimo. Seal in the late winter chasing large schools of food fish, spring for the Eagles. Summer for the light breeze to cool you down. Bring the dog and join the rest for a great walk.
Really beautiful park & area in general. Tons of little spots to sit down and enjoy the water in peace. Good walking trail that takes your around the entire point, with some nice information / history placard to tell you about native wildfire, flora, and the surrounding mountains. Definitely worth a visit!
Nice paths, great views, beautiful spot. Loved it.
Amazing views and time :)
Very nice walk
Always one of my favourite spots to go in Nanaimo. It's so close to everything in town, yet once you're out there, you feel free from all the noise of the city and you can truly relax and enjoy nature. Even if it's for 15 minutes in a day. Definitely worth your time to check out. #ExploreNanaimo
Beautiful Park! We saw a very nice sunset, it was the beginning of June.
This park is a Nanaimo treasure..
Great place to walk dogs or stroll by the ocean.
Scenic costal park in the city, not much boat or float plane noise. Some times it can get a bit dirty here because of how accessable it is. Please be mindful and pick up after yourself.
Fantastic place...real nice views and great path systems..
i go to Nanaimo every summer and i always find myself back at that beach. i find lots of sea stars, snakes, mollusks, sea glass, and really nice rocks. i also really like the walk around you can do, it never gets old
It’s a very nice walk, great views of the ocean. Not my favourite park in town hardly go really.
Gorgeous, short walk (40 min), well taken care of path and nice new steps to traverse any hills
Beauty place to walk your dog or your husband lol. Fresh ocean air and lovely scenery
Neck Point Park has an amazing stretch of oceanic viewscape & several pathways, which is why it is the top place I chose to take my friend for his first visit to Nanaimo. Plus, it's a fantastic place to play with the zoom feature on my camera.
The place is beautiful with it's rock formations and it's ocean views, it's the perfect place for photography so I often take lots of photos here. Lots of trails to explore and lots of wildlife to observe.
Really beautiful trails there
One of my favourite parks in the area. Always have a wonderful time. Lots of trails to walk on, beautiful water front access, places to picnic... We have seen mink along the beach before, and once saw a beached sea lion! Unforgettable. The caretakers house is now demolished. Outhouse in the parking lot.
A must see when in Nanaimo! Best view of the coast, beach and islands.
Amazing walk! Awesome scenery. A great place for rockhounding.
Excellent park - clean, and good trails - bring a camera!
Awesome park. Amazing views. Tons of Pokestops Can't wait to visit again in the summer and hi swimming.
Beautiful park which includes a scenic walk along the ocean waterfront and through the forest. The trail has periods where it is steep, rocky and has stairs, however there are alternate routes and we saw many people with strollers. Along the path are educational signs about the history of the park and it's ecosystems. Many people leave the path to walk along the beach and clamour over the rocks and explore the tidal pools. The occasional strategically located park map would help newcomers navigate. Parking can be limited. Having discovered Neck Point we will be back frequently!
Beautiful park for a walk, or dropping in for a kayak. Parking is horrendous on the best of days and folks seem oblivious how to park without taking up 1.5 cars widths.
Lovely park with great trails!
Gorgeous.
Panorama view of the Sunshine Coast
Beautiful area but a bit crowded and bad bathroom facility.
Really nice stop on the coast for an easy walk. Beautiful views and lots of rock pools :) bring sneakers if you want to scramble on the rocks.
My daughter and my almost daughter got married here. It's beautiful!
Nice park. Beautiful views. Lots of little crabs and shells for the little ones to beachcomb for fun. Could use better signage on entrance, parking, and beach access points. Don't park at parking lot right off the street, follow road in and there is a parking lot at the trail head with a picnic tables and a small beach.
Nice park. Bit of a steep walk for some people.
Cute park. Nice view. Great place to picnic.
Our daughter had her wedding ceremony at Neck Point Park, near the ocean. Such a beautiful setting. A little cold this time of year, but the sun was out and it wasn't terribly windy. Really loved the trails, too. The only thing is a lack of parking, which gets even more problematic when someone has a special event there, like, I don't know... a wedding?
Neck point is a wonderful outdoor adventure close to home. There are a variety of pathways. Accessible to folks that require are on wheelchairs if you know what path to take. There are staired walkways throughout. We see people have small events like wedding ceremonies right on the waterfront. Such a gorgeous location for it if you like more of a natural setting.
Beautiful views and a lovely walk along the waterfront.
It is a wonderful park for bird watching, sea mammal watching and people watching. There are many trails both along the shore and through the woods. We always enjoy our visits????
A lot to see and do here. Beaches, sea creatures, wild foxglove flowers growing out of rock walls. Take a day and explore.
An easy walk with great views of the ocean...islands and sealife. Wonderful areas to just sit and think. Great place to take a dog for a walk but not considered an off leash area.
Such a beautiful place with such amazing views. Even though you don't get to see the actual pacific but the views are as beautiful. This is my second visit with my wife and a couple of my friends and we definitely loved it to the fullest.
I love this park. Every time I come to Nanaimo I make sure to stop here, even if I am just driving through. Neck Point is a nice couple kms hike through a combination of platforms and walking trails. The first portion of the hiking trails are more like walking trails and are easy. The back half of the park is still an easy walk, but there are exposed roots and other obstacles
Absolutely gorgeous place to be. You must visit here. Lots of lovely beach areas. Beautiful walking/light hiking trails. Amazing views. Amazing cement pad for wedding ceremony etc.
Absolute gem! Incredible oceanside beauty, in the Nanaimo area. One of the best walking/oceanside parks you will EVER SEE!
Great walk through amazing forest and along the ocean. Lots of stairs along the well marked paths and wooden walkway.
Scenic. But very sharp rocks and a very difficult trek into the ocean water: sharp rocks and unstable.
I like capturing photos of the birds and geese there.
Neck point is my daily go to for walking my pup. Gorgeous trees, trails, and ocean. What else do you need???
The wild ocean and all the little elf doors at the bottoms of many trees.
Beautiful and peaceful spot
Beautiful place!!! Stunning wildlife and coastlines. Lots of great and informative signage throughout the park. Highly recommend going at sunset in the summer! There may be orcas :) Keep an eye out for seals, river otters, pelagic cormorants and other beautiful critters. Starfish and anemones along the shore too
Nice walk, pretty easy. Accessible for all.
Great local hike
I visited this park every day that I was visiting Nanaimo. After the first time I learned to get there early as the parking lot isn't big and fills up quickly and my truck didn't fit in many spots once it was crowded. I read to park at the school but it was undergoing construction so that wasn't an option. Anyway, the views were amazing every time. I watched otters play in the water while I sat on the bench. I was lucky to spot a whale and unfortunately there was a washed up dead seal one morning. Tons of baby bunnies and a momma deer and her fawns greeted us one morning.
Nice views. Easy walk. A few stairs. Showcases the beauty of the coast.
Super views walking. Loved the little fairy doors on the trunks of trees in one area of the park.
This park has a little of everything... Several different types of vegetation and shore areas in a relatively small space. Low tide reveals even more to explore. Great views of the Sunshine Coast and assorted water fowl, as well as the odd eagle. An easy walk aside from some minor inclines. Cell reception can be poor to non-existent in certain areas including the limited parking lot.
Gorgeous spot for a walk with the family while enjoying beautiful views.
Beautiful park with rocky climbable cliffs and paths that offer a unique view of the coastline. Not sure if we were just lucky, but the place seemed teeming with wildlife, with interesting colored birds, butterflies, deer, and rabbits, really a must-see park if you're in the Nanaimo area.
Lovely little spot. Yes parking can be tight when it's busy. My heart sank when I saw the outhouse but kudos to those maintaining it. Very clean and well stocked. We enjoyed the view while we had a picnic lunch.
You can watch ocean's necklace..deadwood keep it alive.
Excellent trails and look outs
Summer 2018 with my bff Kikz jane. walk.selfi. and swim!!!????????♀️
One of my favorite parks in Nanaimo! I highly recommend bringing kids here to find the fairy houses! It is a spectacular place to spend an afternoon in the woods and on the waterfront!
Great walking trail for all ages.
Beautiful and serene. I love visiting here when I come to Nanaimo to visit family. I grew up in Nanaimo, but you never appreciate things until you move away.
The views are picture perfect and the trails are beautiful
I visit regularly and discover new things each time.
Amazing area with plenty of trails.
Great park. Awesome sunset view
Very beautiful place on the earth Calm and quiet for meditation
Was very crowded. Looks enjoyable if not so many people were there.
Beautiful trails that follow along the shore and provide amazing views of the water coming in along the coast and the rocks.
Excellent coastal walking trails, a few picnic tables, and a few neat little surprises as you go... the owls are a nice addition !
Beautiful views Nice walking trails
Very nice lots of trails and places to sit.
Neck Point Park has been a local favorite for many years due to the many interwaeving trails and lookout points on the ocean. There is a grassy plateau overlooking the ocean perfect for wedding or portrait photography in good weather. Many people bring their dogs here to get some sunshine and explore the water.
Best time is to be there late at night
Good park and beach, there are washrooms which is a good thing.
Beautiful place to go for a walk along the ocean. Great rock formations and beaches.
Amazing place for a nice walk with breathtaking views. It's a must go if you viait Nanaimo.
It's not easy to get to and bus sometimes comes after 45 mins but this place is beautiful. We had a great time. The view is breath taking and its different than other places.
Beautiful park; it has a fairy village for the children to enjoy. And wonderful little coves for the seals to play in..
Beautiful park but fairly busy, limited parking.
Great park with short trails. Trails are well groomed and easy access. Kids love the Doors in the Trees!
My favourite place in Nanaimo to go for walks. Very beautiful views and nature.
Loved it. The parking lot is not big enough to accomodate how popular it is so be prepared for that. It is super beautiful, lots of trails to choose from, Gnome houses, beach or forest. Just lovely. Really glad we came.
A great Little dive location never know wats gonna be there something nothing sharks sea bass jelly fish of all species.
Gorgeous, such a nice place for a walk or a wedding!
Loved this place! Epic views and wonderful trails! Not stroller friendly though.
Absolutely beautiful park. Many acres of walking trails. Enjoy the ocean views from lookout. Dog friendly. A lovely walk to be had..
Relaxing with beautiful scenery
Great park for some easy hiking, access for beachcombing and areas to scramble around the rocks. Some paths are accessible for strollers but some lookouts are stair access only. Look for the fairy grove with fairy doors and one is a "Leave a little, take a little" so bring a something for the fairies.
Amazing place to just stare at waves crashing onto shoreline and cliffs ????
Really beautiful walk with a fairy forest!
visited with my partner had a lovely stroll around the park, there are stairs on a few of the paths but there are many of the bays that can be visited just along level paths. beautiful location and great place to take the four legged friends
Nice park, might see sea lion in the water. The water is colder there if you are planning to do diving or snorkeling, make sure you get full body gear …
Beautiful spot to take in the stunning views of the straight and get some fresh air with the family.
Stunning park. Well marked trails so theres no chance of getting lost. Outhouses need more upkeep but amazing view of the mountains.
Great walking trail and lovely views of the water.
Good sight seening area and beach
Beautiful place for a walk. Limited parking.
Great place to walk the dog. Always lots of wild life. Harbour seals, Sea lions, and a heron on our walk today.
Neck Point Park in Nanaimo is one of the nicest parks in the region. There are plenty of trails, waterfront landscapes and breathtaking panoramas to be seen. It is located off of Hammond Bay Road, just a few minutes away from the equally beautiful Piper's Lagoon Park and both parks can be easily traversed in one day. There is plenty of water, wind and sun buffed driftwood on the inner beaches, large and small, if you are into driftwood sculptures. It is just a nice place to relax and unwind.
Great place to go and gang out. Great for families.
Unbelievable views ..there are several paths, so going again and again is a great adventure. The whole place changes depending on the time of day.
A gem of a park. Glaciated rocks and cliffs, great view. Easy trail system. Was there in a cold wet morning and parking lot was almost full. Must be pretty crowded in good weather. Driving in this area gives you a better appreciation of the scenery around Nanaimo. Worth the detour for a short road break when traveling up island.
Clear trails, boardwalks and two beaches. Great for walking the dog or watching the sunset!
My favourite place in Nanaimo! Great place to take some pics and relax after a stressful day at work! Grab a coffee to keep you warm and go there to see the beautiful coast! If you are luck you can see sea lions or even whales! Fingers crossed...
Beautiful and wild. We went on a windy day and it was perfect!
Epic views of the mountains on the mainland make this beach park a must see if you are a local or are visiting the island. Not too far from downtown and you get to see a beautiful part of Nanaimo. Lots of wildlife sightings as well on the short walk to the beach. Good place for kids to play around, a great place to walk the dogs or just to get out of the house. 5 stars for sure!!!
Great variety of trails and views. Cute fairy door trail for kids and adults alike.
Beautiful park right on the oceanfront. Loved the walk along well maintained paths with benches, beaches and elevated viewing platforms. This park also allows dogs and does have bag dispensers. We also found a cute tree cubby hole that visitors can leave or take trinkets. It's decorated like a little Keebler Elf door.
Wonderful place to go for a walk the views are incredible
Beautiful walking trails with wonderful views!
Beautiful park with ocean views
Neck Point is a popular spot in Nanaimo for a reason! Normally busy but I can walk with my two children through the forest and relax a bit because they are occupied with what we call the "fairy houses" You can also leave a toy and take a toy. (I attached a photo) A lot of trail options and wildlife all around the area. I have seen black tailed deer, sea lions and many different birds. Watch your step on the rocks along the shore line though.
Nice and quite beach for nature lovers
Beautiful place that you need to keep walking to see how big it is. Each vantage point has something unique to look out to... keep more time if visiting this place .
Its an "out of the way" spot with many winding trails, most leading to nice little secluded water front spots. Great place to get out and explore the coast line.
Very quite place to stay
Great park for a hike or walk. Lots of beach critters to see and a stroll through forests with faerie doors for the kids.
Great spot for hiking.....get there early....limited parking
Really enjoyed the beautiful scenery especially Keel Cove. Great place for a walk rain or shine.
This is a wonderful park with a fairly easy trail. Some stairs. Lovely, varying views as you meander through.
Great park.
Beautiful location, great for wedding photos, or any type of photos for that matter. Great place to just walk even. Love BC
This is a great park for people of all ages and fitness levels. Wide trails with no stairs for people with mobility issues and lots of stairs for people who can climb them. Beautiful scenery, beaches, and picnic tables for lunches.
One word, The best Park I ever ❤ been to in my life. My family was was just wow...
I often row to the park or kayak there with the kids. It is always full of a diverse group, dogs, old , young, photographers, bird watchers, joggers etc. If you are lucky you may get to see an orca from one of the viewing platforms. There are deer in the park too. You are almost guaranteed to see a seal or sea lion and many star fish at low tide. It is fun to walk out over the stoney beach to the little island at low tide. There are lots of logs on the beaches to play on. Be quite when in the forrest so as not to scare away the gnomes and fairies that live in the trees. There is also a bring one, take one door in one of the trees for the little ones. My boys used to love the gnome doors when they were little.
Amazing spot filled with divers and sea life !
Beautiful and clean park. The park is also close to the Nanaimo downtown. The park offers incredible water side views complete with easy to navigate walkways, picnic tables, a small beach, and a large parking area. Great place to bring friends, family, and even your pets. I would definitely recommend this park to anyone who visits Nanaimo.
Serene Beautiful and amazing locations.
Great h8ke for all ages. There is wonderful fairy houses/door through put the woods to explore. Then you can go along the waters edge and see so much wild live. Highly recommend
Easy trails with beautiful views. On-leash dogs are welcome!
Easily my favourite park in Nanaimo. Most spots - and there are many - are accessible by persons with mobility issues. The beauty of the park is the many nooks and crannies (and beaches; 5 in total) that can be explored. A place to enjoy both cool forest trails and sunny beaches.
The weather here is so mild and it's a great place to bring a date and go for a little walk along the water with impeccable views :)
Love the Gnome/Fairy doors for my daughter to go knocking on.
Love this place ❤️ so many spots to explore and neat things to learn about! Always an enjoyable spot to take in the ocean!
Beautiful park. Easy walking. Dog friendly folks everywhere.
Beautiful at sunset❣️My photos attached came out beautiful, however, the real beauty is to see the sunsets in person. There is a good amount of parking; drive real slow going in, as it's 2 way & curvy, with families walking around. You can bring your dog, just be mindful & respect the wildlife that shows up on the paths. ❣️
Great walk close to home... Usually spend an hour or so doing two laps. Always wildlife to see!
Absolutely beautiful trails a d views.
Love coming here anytime of the year, gorgeous ocean views and a quick and fun walk through the gnome forest! My son loves checking out all the cool little homes.
Great place to walk. Sunsets and sunrises are wonderful from here.
One of the best parks to hike
Very nice walk with a couple different trails to explore.
Very nice place to just enjoy the wind and the waves and just relax
Forrest trails, lookouts, ocean, ferrie doors. Always a pleasure to visit.
Great photo opportunity. Start to a great pathway system.
Nice walking trail along the beach. The beach is pretty rocky...not a sandy beach.
Lovely walk. Beautiful view
Peaceful and wonderful park.
Great outdoor adventure with information on the park sprinkled throughout the walk
Beautiful point to walk around. Numerous trails. You can take a short walk or a long one. You can stay on the trails or explore the shoreline.
My sister has her wedding photos here and it is absolutely beautiful
Was a windy and cool day but scenery was fantastic. Sea was rough as well.
Beautiful park. You can see the ocean from parking lot. But if you want some Magnificant view, you have to walk 5 mins inside ( left side road is heading inside the park). A must visit place while in Nanaimo!
Beautiful spot for a sunset walk and discover! A real gem of Nanaimo !
Great space to run around with the kids and check out the tide pools. Also a great spot to watch the sun go down. If you just want to be outside and spend some time this is a great place to go, and it is free:)
Lived next to neck point for the first 14 years of my life, you never get tired of its trails and scenery. Gorgeous year round, and even on the nastiest of days, the shelter of the trees keep the paths mild. No matter if it's extremely busy or deserted, it's always a beautiful and serene place to be
A great place to wander and enjoy the ocean. Many routed for different mobility levels. Low tide reveals some pretty cool creatures!
An amazing place to go for a walk or sit and enjoy the beach. Our young son loves to find the fairy doors and exchange toys. The parking lot is often full and you need to park up near the school but the added little hike is well worth the views of walking thru the forest and ending up on a rocky west coast beach
Too crowded with very many humdrum people here, especially kids and particularly during the summer. We need a eugenics approach
Beautiful parkway with gorgeous rocks and ocean views.
Beautiful park. Multiple beaches with different ocean views, as well as a boardwalk and several different types of terrain..
Great view. Park needs/is under construction for improvement.
Very well kept trails with access to beaches and forest.
We loved it!!!! The trails were do nice, friendly people and a beautiful place to watch the sunset
Great easy walk but super busy on weekends/ holidays. Fun little fairy homes for kids to look for and interact with. Good for families, but I'd avoid peak hours if you want some quiet nature time
Beautiful trails, great for a picnic and able to bring stroller even with some stairs.
This park is awesome for walking and relaxing. I found own small spot for my time reading after walking which is really feeling good.
One of my favourite places on the Island plus there are fairy doors????
Simply Beautiful, no matter how many times I go, it's like the first time.
Beautiful spot. Great for photography. Friendly local. Lots to do & see. Huge variety of wildlife (if you look!) ????????????????????????
I love the island that you can walk to!!
One of my favorite parks on Vancouver Island for walking and scenery, great for walking dogs too.
This Park is one of the best in the area to visit. It has Lots of trails to explore with amazing views of the coastline. Thanks to a natural bridge the small island is accessible at almost any Tide level and fishing can be fun. Water is very clean and clear and swimming is nice. Park is clean and garbage free.
My favourite place.
One of my favorite places in Nanaimo, especially for a jog. Gorgeous rocky, cliff-side, ocean views. Very serene and windy spot, a bit too rocky to lay out and tan though. Swimming is better right at the beginning/entrance where it's calm, the rest of it can have lots of waves and there's lots of rocky reef, so use caution.
My favorite walk in Nanaimo. This is one of the most beautiful walks in Nanaimo. When i come to visit my kids insist we come here for a walk. I lived in Nanaimo for 23 years i took a lot of things for granted here, after being away i sure miss the beauty here.
Beautiful spot to walk around and Hike, go birding, or just sit and relax and enjoy the ocean.
Absolutely a lovely place to walk/hike.
Awesome place, great trails. Well directed.
Did a few geocaches here today. Some beautiful scenery and Rocky beaches.
Beautiful spot to take pictures also popular spot for swimming
One of my favorite parks in Nanaimo. Can catch some beautiful sunsets there.
beautiful & serene short trails in a coastal neighborhood
Beautiful location for an hour stroll. You get up onto the rocks right by the ocean and the warm sun with the cold sea breeze is something you can't get anywhere else. I believe we saw some seals in the distance so that was another unique point of view. The fog from the water gives the best maritime atmosphere!
Beautiful trails and look out spots!
Great place to see nature in the raw. Walk around twice for exercise. Or quite day watching the wildlife.
What is seen is not everything. I want you to go backyard. You can get a nice picture.
Breathtaking views
Nice place to stop while waiting for a ferry. Takes 30 min to 1 hour to walk the loop.
Beautiful sunrise capture!
Beautiful walk/hike. Appreciate the upkeep and being able.to enjoy.
One of the best parks! This park is great! So beautiful, but a little crowded at times. Some accessible trails. Diving. Birdwatching. Dog friendly. Outhouse only.
Parking close to the beach, wide ocean views, long and interesting walking trails, many benches to sit and relax in front of awesome ocean views
beautiful beach for collecting sea shells. there’s also free parking.
We walked around the trail. The sun was warm the wind was cool and the view was awesome.
When here to go RC amazing place for rock crawlers.
It's a great place to go for a hike, regardless the weather.
Great park to walk with family and friends. Dog friendly as well with plenty of parking.
Neat beach and beautiful place to walk
One of my favourite parks. Great for taking photos or just walk around
Easy and quick walk with beautiful views!
A fabulous place to enjoy the beauty of this part of the world.
The most lovely resting place in Nanaimo
Beautiful park! Lots of trails to explore, and never a struggle for parking.
Brilliant place. The city of Nanaimo has gems scattered all over and Neck Point is simply precious. Whale watchers get lucky here during days with favourable tides!
Neck Point Park is picturesque! It is a comfortable walk that welcomes your participation in nature. It meanders on the edge of the ocean with rock outcrops. Magnificent!
Stopped off to kill time while waiting for the ferry and am super glad we did. Beautiful park! Small car park but I think there are others besides the one we used. Really well kept trails and gorgeous beach points!
Must visit
Beautiful place to walk and enjoy the site's.
Gorgeous spot for a walk, with lots of wildlife
Very cool place to go for a walk or run.
Stunning coastline view along the trail. Very easy and short trail for this park. Perfect for a walk after dinner.
Beautiful spot. Walking trails and beach access.
Hidden gem! Perfect spot for an easy walk with some great views close to Nanaimo.
Absolutely gorgeous. It worth visiting for sure. Very nice to walk and to take photos here.
Favorite place to go. Great to picnic. Great scenery
Great views. A def must!
Great storm watching spot and what a beautiful full moon tonight !!
Gorgeous views and plenty of space to avoid other people.
A fun place to wander with the kiddos. There are a mix of trails, some stroller-suitable (if you're willing to do stairs on one side of the park), and others that include climbing over rocks. The rocky beach was fun to explore. I appreciated the educational signage, though it's looking worn and needs replacing.
Always worth a walk along the water or in the forest trails. Check out the fairy and gnome doors on trees if you have the time.
This place is beautiful. Right in Nanaimo but you couldn't tell when there. Wildlife, especially birds, galore. Also some old growth trees and a crescent beach looking to a cove that opens to the west.
Beautiful park, but lack of parking. On a sunny day, it makes all the difference! along the path, you will discover different types of scenery, which was very neat and interesting. starting with a nice little cove where i saw people sing even in this weather in November, wavy, log-floating pebbly beaches leading upto rocky waves crashing area. It was a mesmerizing walk
Great park with something for everyone from ocean to forest to fairy wonderland!
A beautyful Park but not Dog Friendly ,by that I mean Dogs have to be leashed
Checked out Neck Point Park yesterday and it was amazing and busy!! The parking lot was full with cars coming in and out steadily. Luckily we were able to find a spot pretty quickly. The water was beautiful - it was milky and turquoise with the herring spawn. The paths along the water were nicely maintained with great viewing platforms. Would definitely visit again!
We go every weekend and every weekend I am once again blown away by how incredible this park is. The views are absolutely gorgeous, and no matter what you're looking for, you'll find it here. Forest (complete with adorable little faerie doors everywhere!), cliffs, beach, tide pools ... it's all there. And if one side is windy, just go to the other side and you'll be sheltered. Also bonus is the elementary school at the top of the hill - my kids get the best of all worlds by being able to play in the playground and then go throw rocks in the ocean. Win win for all
Stunning views. Clean, manicured, well used paths.
Great for jogging, swimming, paths are well maintained.
Wheelchair accessible (some of it). Free but limited parking and beautiful seascapes. Nice hike around the park.
Great walk.
So many trails to walk, such an adventure! There a bathroom... and such a great place to swim in the summer :)
Beautiful little park with an amazing view of the water. Your heartrate will drop as soon as you pull in.
Great local park. Accessible trails. Beautiful sunsets on the ocean.
Here is silent place. This park is good at walking around.
Beautiful place for a walk
Always beautiful well maintained trails with lots of views! Must visit!
Always amazing, love collecting sea glass. About the most picturesque place in Nanaimo plus a lovely walk or bike, depending on what you're in the mood for.
Beautiful place to see a view from Mt Baker to Texada Island. We saw huge sea lions last time we were there.
Beautiful area to visit. Got family pictures done here and it was an amazing Fall setting for them.
Beautiful sea views walking along a relatively groomed trail. Stoney beaches and all kinds of driftwood.
It was soon amazing to go for walks
One of my favourite places to go for a walk with the dog or early morning photos. It's also a place I take visitors. It's very close to the city but feels like you're miles from civilization. You can do a walk around the whole area in less than an hour or you can sit and enjoy a coffee while taking in the breathtaking nature. I like it slightly more than Pipers Lagoon.
Good views, lots of trails
Look for the fairy doors! Wonderful park! Dog's paradise!
This park is a must see. Great hike with lots of diversity. Well worth the stop.
Lovely forests, viewpoints and beaches. Definitely worth exploring!
Astounding rock formations and beaches make this park a fun place to relax with your friends.
Great for all ages, fun to explore!
Beautiful views, easy hike and we got to see some sea lions! :)
My wife and I love this park we always find a little spot for a private sit. It is a truly beautiful spot however it can get crowded on super days like Mothers day ????
It's a it's a nice looking Park the facilities in the park are very much lacking
The view was great. Nice trail to walk with your pets. Especially on summer time.
One of the best spots to watch the sunset from the beach in Nanaimo. A great little walk around the trails. A few spots are great to see sea life.
Just the perfect place for a short walk through the forest then along the ocean!
Gorgeous views of the ocean and peaceful trails.
Great little park. Lots to explore. Rocky beaches, nice paths, great views.
Best beach park in town if you are wondering where is the beach in Nanaimo.
Can get windy at times, bring a light sweater. Otherwise a beauty little park!!
Stunning park. The views are incredible it is so fun to walk along the rocks at the ocean and look for starfish and crabs. I found many heart rocks here as well as there are many kindness nanaimo rocks to be found or to be placed. It is so very cool. There are also little fairy doors in the bottoms of the trees along the trail. It is magical and beautiful and I would highly reccomend going here and bringing the family here the kids will love it
Not a bad place to sit and read a book with a bunny
Excellent for a quick coastal BC walk right in the city. Little kids love the gnome doors trail, and a good place to spot ocean wildlife.
Great place for a walk and to take the kids through the Gnome houses in the trees
Loved the hike. The park is maintained very well. Have tons of benches to sit and enjoy the spectacular views
Always stunning. Especially on a clear day
A nice place for a walk. Beautiful beaches and scenery. The path around the park gives a lot of different views of the ocean. There are little pixie / faerie houses on the trees along the forest path to entertain kids.
Beautiful in the summer even winter. The place is so scenic and instagrammable. We enjoyed our lovely walk on the trails. However, this winter the parking lot is not open. We park beside the school.
Amazing Scenery. Lovely walkinh Experience.
beautiful, lots of great look at, at enjoyable walk.
Cool spot to go for a walk and the water looks nice to swim in aswell
Nice park, but washroom is dirty
This is a beautiful place to walk all year round. A variety of paths take along the rocky shoreline and through wooded areas.
Beautiful area but massive group of kids were smoking a lot of weed.
Beautiful view of the ocean. Nice beach area and walking trail.
Beautiful place, even though not big enough.
Beautiful place ...love the veiws
This park has everything from a beach, hills, trees, trails, picnic tables, grassy areas and washrooms
Easy to get to. A beautiful place for a walk with little kids.
Great park! Paths / trails have a variety of difficulty so almost anyone can enjoy the breathe taking views. There is one Washroom facility by the main parking lot. If the main parking lot is full on weekends you can park at the school near the main gate.
Wonderful and accessible short hike with several spots with great views. Decent sized parking lot with tables to sit and enjoy a meal with friends and family.
One of the most beautiful parks I have been too! Amazing views, great hiking trails and beautiful beaches. Will be returning for a picnic this summer for sure!
Great views of the mainland and shack island. Nice picnic spot
Pure beauty in Nanaimo. Shacks Island on the south-east and the most beautiful sunsets on the west... ❤️
Best park ever. For sunset, for a stroll, weddings, etc...
I never get tired of walking around Neck Point! It's so beautiful, and has a nice range of views to take in!
This is genuinely a lovely park and we came across it by accident. Neck Point Park is quiet and beautiful. The waves are calm since it's surrounded by quite a bit of rocks. There's a small trail, lookout point and plenty of benches around the area.
Gorgeous! Perfect combo of seaside strolls and walking in the forest.
Neck Point is a really nice park. Has very nice views. Lots of walking paths. Only thing wrong was today the whole island was covered with a dense blanket of smoke.
Often quite windy, but gorgeous. Lots of wildlife.
Well laid out paths great views of the mainland many history boards to read too
Excellent short walk/hike! Was winter conditions when I was there but still very enjoyable!
Beautiful walk
Close to the Ferry terminal. Going there you drive by some of the beautiful houses you saw from the Ferry coming into Departure Bay. Great place to let the kids and dogs stretch their kegs after a long crossing. Quick to get back to the highway when you are done.
Nice park, but not for dog walking in summer
Beautiful scenery, easy trails. Its my happy spot to unwind and destress.
Really nice trail and beautiful scenery!
Was a little windy. The trails are great but I wouldn't bring a stroller.
This is a small example of the extraordinary beauty found in the many parks along Vancouver Island. Try to plan to visit at low tide for the best views and exploring the rocks off shore.
Awesome views! A piece of natures art
Neck point is one of the best parks on the east island for scenic stroll along the inlet.
Great hidden viewpoint with nice short trails and stairs up viewpoint
Love going here for the views. Nice walk, although not very accessible for wheelchairs or strollers.
Beautiful park with amazing ocean view. We love explore the rocky beach for natural sea life.
I came here during the high tide in the afternoon and it still looks amazing. When it's low tide the area really opens up to you.
A relaxed place with really cool ocean-side beaches and views of rocks and cliffs. Plenty of woods trail to walk if you have kids and/or dogs, has well-maintained paths and a charming toy exchange tree. Be prepared though for not a lot of parking.
Wonderful hiking Beaches are nice for walking
Wonderful beach location and ocean views; beautiful forrest trails; The kids love it and it's good exercise; The wildlife also makes for some excitement (See who you can find!) Ocean swimming area on the calm side of the water looks like a good swim and is a desirable diving area! Garbage cans placed throughout are very appriciated and help keep the park clean. Little fairy houses in the woods trails are enchanting little surprises and make it fun for the whole family!
Great view of the ocean, too many people and the beach is filled with gravel and seaweed.
This is my new happy place , recommend all to see
Really beautiful park with nice trails, wild animals and great views.
Amazingly beautiful with bluffs, crashing waves, and tons of picnic areas.
Beautiful place go for nice walk. Dog friendly
Super cool place to walk through and explore. It looks so out of place! It's like something from the other side of Canada. Trails are well maintained.
This one is right next to Piper's lagoon Park they are essentially one in the same, they're both beautiful places in the Nanaimo area; if you are planning a visit make sure the tide is low so you get the best of your day. Footwear is important to if you don't want it wet or destroyed don't wear it.
Great walking trails and ocean views
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. I was amazed the first time I visited this rare gem. I have been wanting to return, but unfortunately have not. Though I plan the this summer. My better half has been back, during a freak Pikachu sighting while playing Pokemon GO.
Beautiful little inlet. Great view. Relatively easy access
Getting pretty busy almost as if Nanaimo is becoming a proper city.
Walk the trails and listen to the birds and the wind in the trees, enjoy the scenery of snow-capped mountains and islands of the archipelago, bring binoculars to search for seals, whales and eagles from the lookouts and beaches, watch the sun rise or set over this paradise on Earth.
If you haven't been here, hurry up and do it. Lots of wildlife to see if you keep an eye out.
Gorgeous place for relaxing
A beautiful, easy walk through tree shaded trails and great ocean views.
Wonderful park. Clean and a lot of trails and beaches to explore.
Car park full so never visited
Another slam dunk trail in the middle of Nanaimo. What a beautiful wall on a gorgeous day! You can make it as hard or easy as you'd like, with lots of rocks to climb, and paths to explore.
Incredible spot. Loved it.
Absolutely gorgeous views. Great little hike that's great for all ages!
Best park in Nanaimo to stroll and enjoy the ocean. I've seen orcas twice and sea lions multiple times. Great for taking dogs.
Great memories of a family cabin on the beach back in the 60's.
Really nice for a hike and some easy cliff climbing
City park with several kilometres of beach front walking and few picnic tables
Beautiful place to listen to your dog whine while you've sat down, trying to enjoy a beautiful summer sunset on the water
Beautiful fun family spot for all to enjoy.
Went to watch the waves. Was a cold and rainy day so we had a quick walk.
Even though the carpark looked busy I crossed paths with 6 people. So many trails to take, you don't have to follow the standard route.
So beautiful. Ocean, beaches, nature walks through park. A must see
I remember about 40 plus yrs ago my grandparents had a cabin there which we knew back then as Finn bay , I can't remember how many other cabins were there. I also Dean Finlayson house was at the point and inside the rock Dean store his boat after he took out on the water, I also remember Frank Nye came by on his boat to see someone where our cabins were. The best thing all the memories I have going there every summer as a kid
An oceanside park that is a Naniamoite's favourite spot for casual walks, jogs, dog walking, launching kayaks, family/wedding photos, or just exploring the seashore. Views of the Salish Sea, at its best and worst storms, seals and orcas at times, mainland coastal mountains and amazing sunrises and sunsets in the high summer. There are different paths to choose from that have look- outs making it an adventure for everyone.
Beautiful walk we were lucky to be there for the Harring spawn turquoise waters, birds and seals were super happy ????
Park is great for walks. Great view of the ocean.
Always a lovely walk. Beautiful views.
Beautiful ocean view, wonderful hike not hard at all
Neck Point Park is a huge park! They have information signs that talk about the history of the park along with any information about the surrounding nature like the birds, trees, beach formation, etc. It isn't just a simple stroll in the park either. There are steep stairs which offer great views of the coastline! You're always within earshot of the crashing waves on the coast. At low tide you can venture further out into the more distant rocks or explore the intertidal zones. You can also go kayaking and scuba diving here as well! In fact, Neck Point Park is a popular place for scuba divers when the weather is nice or even when it's nasty out! The water is surprisingly calm as you dive deeper, away from the churning surface waters during a windy day. Great place to enjoy the coast and a great place to go for an easy stroll in the park!
Beautiful scenery. Very tranquil and relaxing
Great hike, natural setting. Lots of rocks to climb and beaches for kids to play on
Beautiful walk. Often windy but worth it.
Beautiful place to walk and sight see. One of the prettiest places I've ever been.
Beautiful park with nice view points and trails.
Best park ever! Our dog Gary loves it there.
Beautiful Sunrise & Sunset!! Easy well kept paths. Georgous unbelievable views!! Must see!!
Nice views. Lookout points for taking pictures or taking in the views. Well maintained park. Rocky beaches, trees, boulders - pretty variety. Some picnic tables. Peaceful.
Lovely, such a variation of scenery...lovely.
One of the most lovely walks on Vancouver Island!!
Wonderful park with nice trails. Worth the visit.
A favourite park for our family. The fairy walk is currently a top pick when we visit Nanaimo. Not very stroller friendly but my child loves running along the trail to the beach and knocking on fairy doors and looking in the trees. Its a slice of magic for her. Previously I've walked the well maintained trained trails to see the picturesque views on the circuit but currently with small kids we have stuck to the fairy trail.
We saw a seal who was staring at us for a long time
Fantastic outdoor walking and views. Great space to walk my doggo
Great little park. Parking is hard to find. Awesome views of the shore.
Lovely place nice picnic areas need larger noticeable non smoking signs...
Beautiful sea side park
An excellent place to spend the day .. the beaches were rocky but very clean.. and for ocean water it was very nice and swimable ..and did i mention sparkling clean water. The trail and he views are just amazing the ocean ???? with the ⛰ mountains backdrop.
What a beautiful walk through the park. Even had a chance to see orcas
Beautifully natural. Great place to watch wildlife, swim in the ocean, or launch kayaks. Very busy in the summer, though.
It has the most beautiful views and great wildlife
Very busy park, it's difficult to get a parking space. No washrooms just a smelly pit toilet. The park is looking neglected, paths are worn and people are trampling over the sensitive areas. Lots of fallen trees, very few wild flowers now. Although it's not an off leash park dogs frequently are. The ocean views are the redeeming part of the park, but it’s certainly not peaceful!
Good view and place but windy
Best park in Nanaimo. Has many beaches to explore or just sit and watch the ocean, catch some sun! Or walk in the shaded areas, at low tides can walk out to the smal rocky island....
Can't miss out on the fairy path and houses. Beautiful ocean views. Nice walk.
An enjoyable park to spend an hour or two if you have some time before (or after) the Departure Bay ferry.
Its a nice spot to take the family on a hike. Very nice beeten trail and so much to see.
A magical, quiet haven. Nice little beaches, forest with deer, bunnies & faeries
Some good lookouts, but a lot of people. Suggest trying to go outside of peak periods of people in the morning before work and evening after most finish work. A good network of manicured trails.
It's great if you like nature and story time with kids. I brought a 5 year old girl and a 9 year old boy. The fairy houses are off dirt trails (not gravel) by the parking lot of Neck Park.
Not a great place to swim, which is why I go to beaches. Very interesting for snorkeling, hiking, boating.
Beautiful park with lots of view, great place for a jog or run with a dog
Neck Point Park with a very attractive view of naturew????????
Lovely place for a walk. Children love the fairy houses, as do adults!
A beautiful spot to walk. Magical❤️
Close to home and lovely.
Beautiful and peaceful park, perfect for runs, walks, and even wedding photos! There are a lot of different trails and smaller paths to take, leading either to an ocean view or open forrest area. There are some lookout spots on the outer edges of the park where land meets ocean, and on the inside you can find faerie houses planted throughout the trails. If you’re lucky you will get to see some wildlife, bunnies are very commonly seen. Rain or shine Neck Point Park is a great way to get out and enjoy nature, without having to go far from home if you’re a local, or just a passerby looking for an easy trail to stretch your legs.
Great place to explore. Lots for kids and adults to see . Rocks to climb. Beautiful sunsets
Nice walk
Met my wife there.....proposed to her there....we got married there. Very cool place. Is also awesome stormy as well.
Nice and easy loop hike around the park.
The beach has lots of driftwood, very peaceful environment. You can also walk along the beach to look for seashells.
Another reason why Vancouver couldn't hold a candle to this island.
Quiet and nice trail along side the beach.
A great place to spend an hour of your day. Not an exceptionally large natural park, but there are lot's of criss crossing trails to take. I usually stick to the perimeter, since I go there for the ocean views. There is enough parking for about 30 to 40 cars, and most people bring their fur babies on leashes.
Great place for a walk as there are lots of paths to take. Unfortunately you have to be careful because some dog owners believe they don't need to keep their dog on a leash and let them run all over the place.
Good quick stop..beauty
Nice long walk with beautiful scenery. Watched Lots of eagles and saw a deer
Amazing spot for Sunrises or sunsets! Super awesome ocean views & tons of wildlife.. Make a stop here if you haven't been before. Flat paths most of the way with some lookouts with stairs.. Biking is possible but there is only a few routes that are easy enough..& there is Picnic tables at the far side
Beautiful spot, often see sea lions and other marine life, tons of trails and semi-private beaches
This park is absolutely stunning, and it is an absolute must if you are visiting Nanaimo. The views are incredible, with the sea meeting the mountains, I was truly moved by the beauty this park holds. I recommend coming in the evening, in order to watch the sunset. It was one of the most beautiful, if not the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen in my entire life.
Awesome park. Fairly central to Nanaimo. Parking lot is not very big so will probably fill up on a busy day. On the ocean. Wooden view points and easy access to the beach, water and rocks.
What Beautiful park ! Great trails and lots of rest spots ! Fun little fairy houses for the kids to watch for !
Absolutely beautiful shoreline walk with lots of trails through the woods as well. Have been there several times and never tire of it.
Great place for a hike. Amazing views by the ocean.
So lovely. Great trails, not a piece of litter to be seen, everyone on the trails are exceptionally polite and the views are to die for.
Love the trail network. Lots of squirrels, birds, and other wildlife to see.
The coastline views are amazing, fishing here is fun.
Nanaimo's No. 1 attraction... This "Oceanside Park" highlights the diverse, natural, beauty of Nanaimo's coast, the Ocean, (tidal) Lagoon, offshore islands, the birds (especially the "Bald Eagle" and "Majestic" Blue Heron) and aquatic mammals (including whales and various species of seals) and the mountainous B.C. mainland [as a "backdrop"]. The Park also has many well maintained trails which allow visitors to "explore and experience" all of the Park's outstanding offerings! It is the combination of these features which have made its selection (by travellers like us) an the number one attraction in Nanaimo!! It has also been awarded TripAdvisor's coveted "Certificate of Excellence"... It is definitely worthy of a visit by young and older alike! I hope that this Review has been helpful.
Beautiful ocean views anytime
Nice and easy loop with great views of the straight
Beautiful park, nice trails and fantastic scenery!
One of the best spots in Nanaimo to catch the sunset this Rocky shore has beautiful views and a very peaceful vibe. Get there early and pull up a spot on the beach, a log or maybe find that perfect place along the rocks because even the worst sunsets seem to still be beautiful here.
Beautiful walk along the ocean.Great location for photography or a swim.
just an amazing location....even more so with the annual herring spawn occuring ....sea lions galore every march
Beautiful park to see the mountains across the straight if it's clear!
Wow most romantic place with the best views
Beautiful scenery, very quiet on a Monday morning though I believe weekends can be very busy. Picnic tables and benches are scattered throughout the park to take a break and enjoy the views.
Paradise. Water is so calm and healing. Best place to find peace and heal yourself.
Walking at neck point is unlike any park you will visit anywhere else. From forest, to beach, to open ocean views, you will enjoy this hidden gem.
Beautiful spot for sunsets
BEST place to take little kids for a hike/adventure
I go to Neck Point EVERYDAY and love it but in a week One seen 2 rv's with people sleeping I them and yesterday there we Jehovah Witnesses set up by the fountain.
One of my all time favourite places to take family & friends visiting as well as my own and my self. So many beautiful spots in this one spot ! Fairy doors are a fun little game as well. Always lots to see & find in this gorgeous spot.
One of my favorite Nanaimo spots. Easy trails and beautiful beach. The fairy doors are awesome, just make sure you bring along a small treasure for the take/leave treasure door.
Popular for hiking, and great for seeing marine life and birds. Spectacular scenery!
This was one of the most beautiful parks we have ever been too. At low tide there is a path to a island were you can swim and have some privacy. At high tide the path disappears and you don't even know its there. This is not a sandy beach and there are rocky patches which can be dangerous for small children but you can still definitely swim here. Highly recommend this place.
Beautiful walk yesterday. Always look forward to another ????????
This is a wonderful place for sights and walks
A great easy hike with ocean views the whole way. Easy for kids too!
Beautiful walk along the ocean. Great views.
Need some great views? Say no more and drive here. Could use a bit more parking but the scenery was worth it. Paths were well maintained and signage was reasonable
Great park! Bring a toy to swap in the cool little fairy door!
Beautiful place for a nice little hike, great spot for pictures and veiws
Beautiful walk but parking lot needs to be bigger
Nice trails. Great ocean views. Porta potty bathroom. Terrible! Parking lot is full of puddles and potholes most of the time. Having bags for pet waste is a plus!
Great ocean views, lovely Forest trail!
Great place to bring visitors to the island. Easy trail along the ocean.
Beautiful views and hiking trails and not busy.
I live in Parksville but bring my dog for a walk here every other week. Lots of great trails to tire out big and small dogs. Plus great views of the strait
Might be the best place on the island for snorkeling. The water was not too cold on Aug 13 and still tolerable on Sep 25, though most people would want to wear a wetsuit so late in the year. I saw hundreds of crabs, a few pipefish, and some bright blue starfish.
Lovely place for a quick walk by the ocean.
Lovely view of the ocean while the sun was shining. Lots of space for physical distancing but trails are a bit narrow so don't forget your face masks.
One of my favourite places in Nanaimo. Beautiful coastline, trees, and often lots of birds and other sea life to be seen.
A lovely place to have a nice long walk or sit in a quiet place!
Amazing place to take a peaceful walk, the views are outstanding ❣✌
One of the many nice parks in Nanaimo. Nice trails and beautiful views.
Great park. Wonderful for kids of all ages.
Wonderful place for a quote evening walk.
nice place for beach activity
A beautiful park to walk in the bank of Pacific Ocean. Can easily go down to touch sea water
Amazing place to walk, especially nice for picnics and family walks :)
Beautiful place too walk , most parts are stroller friendly ! Love the views and fairy doors! Be sure to bring bring a treat to leave when you take one ( kids love it ! )
Beautiful spot to visit
Loved it. Soo many places to explore !!
So beautiful. Nice walking paths.
A nice calm park with lots of picnic tables throughout. Many easy trails to explore. Most have neat gravel or is paved. Some stairs. There are plaques located everywhere for educational reading. Parking lot is medium size, probably holds about 30-40 cars. Saw a deer as well. Good place for picnics and strolls. Nice view of the waters and nearby land! From parking lot to neck point is probably about 10 minute walk.
Very beautiful. Great place for 3 friends. To have a. Hike and a picnic
The scenery is really beautiful. We went when it was super busy time (herring season) so there were lots of people in the park. With that in mind we still managed to get around the park and enjoy it. The wind can be very strong in some areas so beware of that if you have little kids with you.
So blessed to go here weekly! Beautiful park with trails and bridges. Be a perfect place to get married with the platforms they’ve built. The ocean changes constantly so every visit is a new surprise!
The weather was cool and windy but scenery fantastic. Sea was rough and was tossing logs around on shore. Walk was nice.
Beautiful spot, easy walking trail
Very well taken care of park. Always gorgeous views. Not too challenging of terrain, but enough trails you can make it more of fitness walk if wanted to.
Worth on a visit. But we didnt go all the way as its getting dark and windy/cold
