Echo Dale is a beautiful little oasis not far from Medicine Hat. It's a great place to step away for an afternoon or a whole day. There is a small historical farm, a swim lake, and a paddling lake. The swim lake has lifeguards that start at 11am daily and kids under 9 need to have someone with them in the water 16 or older at all times. It has a beautiful sand base and beach. There are public washrooms and showers (indoor and outdoor) available as well as ample change space. This area was developed for use before many places were designed for handicap use so there are no handicap shower rooms or family change spaces sadly. This is definitely a place you need to stop and see in the summer when you're in the area!

Absolutely disgusting. The Canada geese have taken over the swimming area and grassy area surrounding it. There is tons of bird feces in the grass, all over walking paths and to top it off there is feces in water where you swim. Yuck!

Nice place except of lifeguards. They are useless and annoying. Kids can do nothing on this 2-3 feet deep lake. Constant, every couple minutes reminder from lifeguards: You need to be in the water with your child , child should hand fare from you. What I should do with 3 kids? Put them on a leash??? Find two babysitters who agree to stay in this muddy "lake"? Why??? Go to lake Newell or Elkwater and have unlimited fun without useless "protection"

Its a great place to take your family for swimming and a picnic. I just love it there. Beautiful scenery. Plus its free, cant go wrong with that. The only down side is that they kick you out at 7.

Great little man made swimming spot for the kids in the summertime. They have food, and refreshments at the canteen. I also serve ice cream. There's always a lifeguard on duty. Water is usually very warm by July. Kids love it here!

Calling it a "Swim Center" is a bit of a stretch. It is a man made beach with a man made pond that you can swim in. It is an excellent, free place to swim, play in the sand or have a picnic. I had a family reunion here several times, and attended many community events here. If you love fun, you will come here several times over the summer.

Beautiful place to relax. They have a walkout dock fully railed for the children's safety. A nice little playground, picnic areas for both family or large group. Good fishing area as well as swimming beach. Canada geese are pretty much staying on the island which is nice. I love the views and how quiet the park was even though there were many people there. Lots of trees and landscaping provide private spots to chill. Really great time there and worth visiting again for sure !

I enjoy coming out here both for the drive and for the scenery. It's an enjoyable ride out on the bike and the old farm is pretty neat to walk around. It was nice to take the 35mm film camera out and get some pictures around the farm. The park itself is lovely, with great scenery, tons of walking paths, and the occasional food truck, what more could you ask for?

I have loved Echo Dale since the first day we moved to Medicine Hat 8 years ago!!! One of my favorite places around Medicine Hat!!! Thank you to everyone who helps make this such a beautiful place to visit!!! I also want to thank you to whoever chose the music playing over the loud speakers by the swim area the evening of June 25th 2017, it was beautiful, and it was perfect for this beautiful, little picnic my friend Delaina Eckstien gave to our dear friends who is also her family, to spend time to reflect and reminisce good memories of Savannah's grandmother who passed away recently. What a perfect evening at Echodale!

The perfect place for a hot summer day to go to for a nice relaxing sunbathe and a dip in the refreshing water to cool off. A concession is on site and sells ice creams, coffee and other such refreshments. There is a lifeguard service during swimming hours. About the only suggestion for improvement would be more trees to provide shade for the nightwalkers and to stock the adjoining trout pond more frequently.

This man-made lake is fantastic. It isn't really deep so It's particularly great for children. Our 6-year old can walk all the way to the buoys with her face above water. Lifeguards on duty till 7 p.m. Lots of groomed sandy beach, shade, grass, walking/biking trails, picnic & BBQ facilities, parking plus a concession and amenities building. About 7 km from Medicine Hat, it's a perfect getaway in the beautiful Badlands. The South Saskatchewan has a boat launch for your water 'toys' of all kinds.

The water is dirty, and I'm not talking nature made either, and even when my 8yr old is playing with his much older sisters, the life guards are bothersome if the wife and I are not hovering over him. Kids have to have distance from adults to learn their boundaries sometimes. But that being said, I do know some parents that stop watching their kids way to much.

The place is very nice for a family trip, there's a small lake and lifeguards; Also, there's a store where you can buy fast food, ice cream, etc. I wish they closed the lake and the store later on the day..

When it's not too congested this park is really nice. It's a great place to cool off on a hot day especially if you just need to take a spontaneous walk / swim/volleyball. The bathrooms in the concession building are gross though. But the food is great.

There were so many bugs I literally had to leave. There was over 300 on my snall bag lol. Its crowded but there is nowhere else to go for water so it was ok.

I'm the Caretaker of the park and just love it. Fish lake is stocked with Rainbow trout every summer. Big Swim lake that's treated with clorine just like any swimming pool in the city. Access to the river at the boat launch. Also there's camping out at the East end of the park with a permit. Then there's the 18th century farm and Blacksmith shop too. Lots to do for the whole family. Easy to make a day of this park with all the fire pits and picnic tables.
