Here we offer you the information of real people who used the products and services of Rolling Hills Zoo (Zoo) around Laurentian Hills area (Canada).
At the moment the business receives a rating of 4.7 stars over 5 and the score has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an reviews average is practically the best one, and it is based on a large number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the score is very credible. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to place reviews when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Zoo belongs to the category of Zoo.
A wonderful zoo in the rolling hills. Our favorite is always the museum.
Great place to walk around, see and learn about animals. The museum it's truly unbelievable. Just a nice environment to be in overall. They have a decent restaurant on site also that serves tasty fastfood style food and refreshments.
Awesome place to visit!
Really nice gem just outside of Salina proper. Great views and a wonderful variety of animals that look well taken care of. The passion of their team really shows when you talk to staff. Also mega benefit is the museum attraction included with the zoo! Very well put together displays and a great break from the heat.

This was a very beautiful zoo, it truly felt as if the zookeepers cared about their creatures!
Awesome place to visit. The museum's robotic display and real, life-size animals is incredible. My grandkids and I had a great time.
This is the best zoo/museum combo I've ever been to. I learn something new every time I'm there and I used to work here.
This was a very nice zoo. The animals were healthy and the facilities were like new.
It was great! We had so much fun looking at the animals with my child, only drawback was it was windy, but that was mother nature not the zoo ???? if I'm ever near these parts again, would definitely be passing by there. Staff was nice and friendly. Most animals we were able to see though not all.
Great zoo. Nice facility.

Great zoo great setting easy to get around
Its a bit pricey for most of the exibits not being available to see...because of covid. Our favorite is the museum, kids country, and the dinosaurs.
Great place to take our kid enjoyed the experience....plenty of animals to see from all around the world l.... Only down side is finding which exhibit you want to see
Great friendly clean zoo
Good little park friendly staff. Well maintained. Animals all looked healthy
It's an ok Zoo a little small. They had an robot zoo which I felt was weak. In the robot zoo they had like 3 sculptures that looked like animal "robots" and if you pushed a button the "robot' would move a eye or it's head. In addition to the Zoo there is an indoor museum area that has stuffed animals and some animatronic people. The animals look nice the animatronic people weren't great. I think the rhinoceros butt print for sale in the gift shop was my favorite part..
This zoo has a lovely museum that we visited. They also have very friendly staff that were more than happy to tell us a little more about their animals!
Love visiting this place and when it gets too hot, we head to the indoor exhibit! Very cool zoo.
I would definitely recommend the Father's Day car show. See the cars and the animals all at once.
Did a lot of walking, a lot. Didn't get to see maybe half the animals. Not impressed at all, and not worth sore knees and feet. I feel it was a waist of money. The most I have ever paid to just walk around.
This zoo was an excellent for the size. Therr are a lot of animals to see and the price is amazing. It is smaller but that didn't prevent us from spending 4 hours there! It was a breezy Friday afternoon and all of the animals were enjoying …
Wonderful zoo with about 3 miles of walking. A beautiful October day.
Listen they are NOT normal and realistic there was a only a bear brown bear bunny purple bunny? oh and the bear had a black bow AND top hat, the bunny had a red bowtie and there was a chicken with a bib, it said let's eat! and it had a pink cupcake and a red pirate fox with brown torn up pants, I tell you do not go here
On a sweltering hot summer day they put a massive blow-up water slide for the kids to stay cool. AMAZING!!
Great mid sized zoo. Small enough to do in an afternoon , big enough you can make a day of it... Rarely very crowded and the keepers always good about interaction with visitors
Very nice zoo. Well kept and clean.
It was nice just to get away by myself but like any wild animal no one likes to be in a cage but I'm positive that they take very good care of the animals but with some it just seemed like they weren't happy
If you are driving through Kansas thinking there is nothing to see, stop at the Rolling Hills Zoo. It is worth the price, the team that works there is very helpful and informative. It is not a huge zoo, but you will easily spend three to four hours looking at felines, camels, monkeys, giraffes, bears ….. we spent quite some time with the rhinos and their caretaker who took the time to tell us about them in detail. There’s also a kid’s corner with farm animals that seem within reach to pet. The tour ends with a walk through their museum that has nothing to envy Disney. It is simply gorgeous and strikingly realistic. We strongly recommend.
Nice zoo. Not too big. Nice play area for kids at front entrance. A lot of the animals were not very active and some of animals weren't even outside. It was a nice day when we went.
Nice gift shops!! The reptile building is lots of fun with varieties of frogs, lizards, turtles and snakes. Another favorite were the friendly giraffes though can't feed at this time due to Covid-19. Have a year old baby giraffe in there, …
Very beautiful compared to some of the zoos I have been to around the US. I love the way they did the enclosures for all the animals. It was awesome to get so close to the Rhinos.
We dont have kids but we still loved this zoo. Clean, well shaded, great variety of animals, just loved it! The museum is the best one we have ever been in!
Fantastic zoo. Very well maintained clean the animals beautiful
Went while areas were closed for Covid. The Zoo had so much more to explore that we were not able to see and I would love to go back when its fully open. Saying that the staff was amazing. They still had alot to see and enjoy!

Admission is reasonable. Lots of nice exhibits. Wasn't crowded at all on a tuesday.
I love this place. Great zoo and museum.
Great zoo and great exhibits. Kid LOVES coming here, I take her multple times a year. Super friendly employees too.
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME...HIGHLY RECOMMEND (:
Exceeded expectations! Very clean and spacious. Gorgeous, healthy animals. Conveniently located restaurant and bathrooms. Fun children's areas! The zoo was amazing by itself, then they have a whole museum at the end! Love it!!
we love this zoo! Make sure to take the time to explore the museum too!
We love our time at Rolling Hills Zoo! The baby Rhino is so cute
A small zoo in the middle of nowhere but had a lot of great animals. The animals were well taken care of in the zoo is very clean. They have a outstanding Museum filled with dioramas. I highly recommend going
Great zoo but go when tram is running so not as much walking nice that there is room for big pins good time!!!
Perfect size zoo for my kids to walk through. They are 2 and 4. My only drawback is I wish they placed feeders in the petting zoo area or had snacks available at the front desk for the goats during the many times someone is not available in the petting zoo. My kids look forward to the interaction with those animals and are disappointed when they can't give them a snack. We also frequent the museum when weather is bad. It is interactive and easy to teach the girls about animals in the wild.
My family loved it here! No crowds, clean and so pretty!! Great little views everywhere. Staff was friendly and helpful. Worth it!! Find me on IG for my video mashup of our experience :) @marissaspillett
Nice place to spend with the family to see all kinds of animals
Great zoo, really enjoyed the Tram ride amd museum!
A lot of fun!
This is by far the best zoo in central Kansas. All of their exhibits host healthy and active animals. I loved their tiger exhibit, as they looked young and healthy. The price is also quite reasonable. I would recommend this zoo to anyone.
This is a fun little zoo off of I-70 in kansas. We saw a lot of animals more up close then at other zoos and it only took us about 1hr 30minutes to get around the whole place. It was extremely hot though and it is mostly black top.
No
Awesome little zoo, glad I took the time to stop here. Was a nice little break
The museum and the zoo are exceptional and my little girl loved playing with the toys in the play areas! It's a great place to meet friends and family when lots of kids are in tow! The food was delicious and very reasonably priced, as well.
This is a great spot to take your little ones on a chill day! I recommend the fall myself! It's very quaint out there. Plus, it's a smaller zoo so ya gotta help out and support the little guy! I was a member a couple years back. I was pleasantly surprised by all the activities they have for a smaller zoo. It's great addition to the Saline County area!
the Conference Center was an awesome place for a wedding.. so beautiful
Excellent, a must see. Wonderful time, place, animals and staff. Very worth it.
What a fun place! We loved this zoo. It is small compared to our Denver Zoo but much more interactive. Lovely park-like setting. The exhibits are spread out and you can get really close to them. There are 4 Tigers, a large male, Mother and 3 one-year old cubs. They were so playful! At the end of the zoo is a great interactive diorama of habitats around the world with real waterfalls, rivers and robotic people telling about their country. It was fantastic! Well worth the admission!
The zoo was good. Just felt some of the cats deserved bigger enclosures than the flamingos or smaller animals
Our kids absolutely loved it not the biggest zoo but perfect for all of our kids
For the size of the zoo well worth it and a great military discount.
We loved it. The animals seemed well taken of
Great zoo with plenty of animals but does not take all day to get through. Do not forget quarters for the feeding stations.
What a surprise to find a park along the ride thru Kansas. The animals seemed very well cared for, enclosures for almost all the animals. It was a great experience all around.
This is a fantastic local gem. A lot of heart and work goes into providing a great place for folks to go to see some well cared for animals just minutes away from Salina. A must see for any out of town visitors.
Zoo was nice, staff wouldn't let us ride our segways though.
This is a great private zoo. It is best to go in the morning when they feed the animals. In the winter they have the hippos in the barn and you can go see them very close. It is not the biggest zoo but is really a great zoo. The have a museum that is very well done.
Rolling Hills Zoo is not just a zoo but extraordinary museum as well..a MUST SEE!! Very friendly staff and reasonable pricing for a great family event.
Awesome exhibits for such a small zoo. You can easily enjoy this in a day.
Nice zoo, clean and well kept
Awesome place! Well kept and very clean. The animals look happy to be there.
This was a unique experience. My kids thought just another zoo but had a great time. We fed a giraffe, camel and ostrich. They kept our fur baby in their free pet area as well.
Wonderful zoo with an amazing museum.
Beautiful zoo that is awesome for families. Not over crowded and lots of little stations with information.
We have a blast every time we go.
This is a great medium-sized zoo. It is spread out around a lake, so it's a good place to go for a walk as well - this was nice for us as we stopped here in the middle of an all-day road trip. The Andean bears, rhinos, and baby giraffe were fun to watch. We also enjoyed the giant tortoises, which were very active the day we visited.
Great quiet place for me and grandson to enjoy the morning.

My Daycare visits at least 3 xs a year the kids always find new things to see In the Museum we take a fife rent rout thru the zoo each time. Love it just wish we had elephant
Lotsa walking but there were trollies running thru out the day. Knowledgeable staff. We had an awesome time!!
Very good zoo, Love the activities that they have for kids & families!
Wait time
$11–15
Great little zoo and museum! Would absolutely come back, well worth the money. Interesting assortment of animals and day we were there they had an art event which was so fun!
I felt the animals didn't have much of a habitat.
Great place small but the animals are great. Sad too see some have passed and moved on. If you ever pass through Salina KS you should come vist.
Had a great day, went on a chilly day and I definitely was pleased to see that everything was still open, I loved it!
Took my girls here and spent hours here. Very sweet place for spending time with your family and seeing animals up close. But wear comfy shoes so you can walk the zoo. They do have a transit.
I came here with my girlfriend and it was on a super cold day, so no one was there. But the workers still gave us an amazing experience. We got to see almost every animal (besides the sleepy lion) and an amazing museum of animals!!! Defenitlaly worth the stop
Such a fun experience. My kids love it each time we come!
Haven't been here in a few years, but decided since I am back in the area I would take my son here.
A wonderful zoo experience. The animals are all so healthy and happy! The wraps at the restaurant were delicious!
Got to feed ostriches and a ????! Vegetarian options for lunch. Larger than expected. Playground includes playhouse. Museum and zoo for one price.
Not a bad little zoo for being in the middle of nowhere.
Nice zoo, clean area, wasn't packed, good variety of animals just wished we could get closer to the giraffes.
We had a great time. My grandson loved the Dinosaurs and the Hide away was really neat for him to explore.
I was really amazed. It exceeded my expectations. The museum was very unique.
Enjoyed our experience wouldn't mind visiting again.

The dinosaur exhibit was fun for the kids. Seems to be less and less animals than the last couple times we had gone. The museum is a nice cool escape on a hot day, and has a lot of neat set ups inside. We will be going back again once more things open up to make the trip worth while.
$11–15
Great zoo with many animal exhibits to enjoy. We went on a Sunday and nearly had the place to ourselves. Super affordable and easy to get to. They have a tram that can give you the tour and that makes is nice for anyone who may not want to walk the entire zoo.
The museum was awesome, the zoo itself was honestly a little disappointing to be honest. Maybe we went a little early in the season at Apr. 19th it was 70 out so meh. A ridiculous amount of geese though. No petting zoo my kid was super sad about that.
Such a fun place. The grounds are beautiful. Thanks Mr. Walker for building an incredible treasure so close to Salina!
It's ok at best but still a nice way to spend the day, plus they got scooters and trams if you take your grandparents
Was pleasantly surprised with how large the zoo was. Staff was super friendly. Grounds were clean and well kept. Large exhibits for the animals. Reasonably priced.
This is one amazing zoo, was definitely a better experience than I was expecting, they have a huge selection of animals with petting animals as well. They have indoor exhibits as well in the museum, definitely make sure you check out the museum as well, it's really cool! I went during the week and there wasn't hardly anyone there in the weather was nice.
The museum was amazing! My kids had a blast going through the zoo. Next time we are going to ride the tram
Overall it was an excellent experience and I'll definetly be coming back with my family again, the zoo and the museum was both a success even if all the animals were not out and about.
Nice local zoo with fantastic summer camps and activities for kids. Friendly staff and clean facilities.
Variety of animals in large areas (but still highly visible to guests), and tram rides were worth the price. Highly recommend!
We found this place on our cross country road trip and it our family's favorite stop!
We had a great time with my mom and my 3 kids... they're ages 8 thru 13... the best pics were in the museum.
The experience was fun and we enjoyed it. It was very nice to get out and enjoy the day. The staff enjoys talking to you and telling you stories about the things you're looking at.
Great zoo very fun. The tram is the way to go! No walking and the drivers tell you about the animals. Very good food and not to pricey. Great place will go again.
Had a very nice Mothers Day outing. As a treat 4 all mothers they got in free.
Decent zoo but I really thought there would be more to it. It seemed like some of the enclosures were too small for the animal.
Great smaller zoo. Went there on Father's Day, Dads are free. Very friendly staff and helped out where needed. Nice wide open areas for the animals. Kids enjoyed exploring.around the different areas. It's in our top 5 zoo's we have visited. Which includes our favorite, San Diego and Portland, OR.
Enjoyed our fieldtrip
Your welcome, I live in milwaukee wisconsin and I had a wonderful time at your zoo.
Loved it!!! Lovley scenery and amazing sttaff111
Good family friendly venue. Reasonably priced. Easy to find and get in and out of.
I love this place! It's a great way to get out and see the animals and experience live and up close critters too. Wonderful setting and the museum rocks too!!!!
Lots to see and do. And there is also cool events through out the year!!
Even though some of the stuff was close because of crona, it was still fun to go and see all the animals. My favorite part ????
I was very surprised by this small town's zoo. The animals were well-kept, even in the summer. Almost every viewing point had a shaded area and seating. Even the landscaping was designed to bloom throughout the season for bees and butterflies. I'll definitely return here with the family again.
$6–10
Great couple of hours. Highlight was meeting the rhino caretaker and learning about each individual rhino. Worth visiting again.
Excellent zoo that is very kid friendly. Especially fun for kids on days that you can feed the giraffes and camels.
Great way to spend a couple hours with the little ones!
Great zoo for kids! The museum had a lot of stuffed animals in some great poses
Weekend
We love this zoo. The area is beautiful and it's a great workout if you walk. There is also a tram if you get tired!
We had lots of fun. They have a nice variety of animals. The children had a good time too.
Weekday
Great place for a family, animals were somewhat active.
Really nice medium sized zoo and museum. Great for kids and adults.
Wonderful place out in the middle of great country! The zoo itself is a good time, a lot of animals to enjoy. Take the tram to get a little bit of backstory on the tour. What really wowed us since our last visit (many years ago) , was the addition of the museum on the top of the hill. Wow! Worth the admission price several times! I could spend all day in there. The dioramas are top notch! Worth your time to visit!
Went to the Zoo Brew and had an amazing time! First time there. I wish it happened more often.
I swear I left a review here and not just stars. Well here we go again. My wife and I had a blast at this zoo. We went just before close so we had to …
Amazing place! Always clean! Animals are super fun. Not the biggest zoo but I'm very ok with it. We visit quite a bit! They have the best events and activities fo kids. Always something happening there. And the staff are beyond helpful Everytime I have been there. Really great place. Could spend hours or just an hour there. Your call!
Can't feed the animals in Kids Country anymore and there weren't as many animals. Walkways and garden areas were overgrown with weeds. Didn't look as nice as usual.
This place was perfect for a much needed stop during our travels. It was cute and the museum was a nice way to get out of the best. They have cute little skinks that run all over the place too. Really nice little gem.
Clean, safe environment, great for family, friendly and professional staff. Great location
Great zoo! The staff is wonderful.
Very spread out, so it makes for a good way to wear out the kids! The animals are highly interactive—the cougar was the highlight of our visit! He came right up to the kids! The flamingos are the first enclosure, and they are right on the other side of the fence line. We loved the polar bears and train ride, too! There’s also a playground for the kids next to the camels and ostrich exhibits.
Great place to spend the day with the kids without spending a lot. Definitely have to remember to bring more quarters to feed the fish. No face diapers required just relaxing fun family time.
It was fun, I went there with my family. The only problem was that the parks not really wheelchair friendly. I almost launched my mother into the koi/flamingo pin, plus the deer/pronghorn pin. Most of the animals I really wanted to see …
The zoo was very beautiful. The staff were knowledgable and helpful. The restaurant food was fresh and tasty. Our family had a very good time. Don't by pass the museum
Love this place! Favorite zoo in Kansas!
Had a great time. The Tiger cubs are so cute.
Yes
Liked this zoo because it was very clean, and spacious. I didn't get the cramped feel like most of the zoos iv been too. The place is very nice and visually pleasing but I feel like there should have been more animals. Don't get me wrong, they do have a great selection and they hit all the major ones you'd expect to see in a zoo. I will say that for most of the animals enclosures allow you to get a lot closer to the animals then anywhere else IV been. Food court was decently priced. I liked how it was out in the country instead of in the middle of the city) Entrance fee was a bit steep (for a broke collage student at least). But once you get inside you kinda see why.
Had a wonderful time with my wife and son for my birthday. It is a great place to visit!
Not much varity of animals and VERY windy but still quite fun. The animals were very friendly. Lots of play places scattered around, took about 3-4 hours to get through including lunch and snack break.
Great zoo, lots of cool animals, and a great size to be able to see everything in half a day!
Rolling Hills zoo has some of the nicest staff. My family member hosted a birthday party there. The people who monitored the group and helped with setting up were extremely kind and helpful. With a bunch of children running around things can get chaotic but the staff handled themselves well. They are all very enthusiastic about their jobs.
Nice little zoo. We visited on a warmer day in February when we needed to kill some time. There were quite a few animals not on exhibit but still plenty to see. We especially enjoyed the tiger cubs, giraffes and lemurs. The kids really enjoyed the museum and animatronics. We spent about 2 hours here with pretty much the whole place to ourselves. Only drawback was all the geese.
We attended a conference at this facility. The service staff and accommodations for the meeting were great. We really enjoyed walking through the zoo diorama hall at break time. We only wish we could have had an opportunity to visit the animals in the zoo! We plan to go back this summer and take our two granddaughters with us!
The inside portion is great, lot's to see, great play space for younger kids. We got to watch them feed 3 different species of frogs. The outside portion is a bit spread out, and most of the animals were either sleeping or not in their exhibits during our visit.
It will be so nice when it is all fixed up! It is already a great experience :)
I have always had good experiences at this zoo. They have a great assembly of animals and clean facilities in a quaint location. The workers are always nice and ready to help or answer questions. I look forward to going whenever I am visiting.
The stuffed exhibits were amazing. The live animals weren't very active or even out on display half the time. But it's worth it for the posed animal gallery.
I loved the pumpkin palooza there are fun activities for children in a free pumpkin for every child
Its a fun great zoo to visit, but the prices are high especially to feed the lemurs and the gift shop
Nice local zoo not huge but the museum is neat.
Lots of animals!! Not a ton of hills and they offer a tram if needed, but costs extra. Best Zoo around.
Lots of walking but tons of animals, better done in the cool of the day!
It wss super enjoyable only problem that I had was they said the tram would be back in 30 minutes but it was too close to closing so they didn't come back around.
Not a bad zoo to visit, price was reasonable, and had a fun Easter egg hunt for the kids
Great zoo and museum. Fun for all ages of our group.
It is a place a where a family can spend the entire day at. There is time to see everything if you get there early. Be sure to take tune to visit the museum.
Went during eeg extravaganza. Was a cold day. Kids had fun, got to see the giraffes paint, sheep, Rinos and other animals.
Lots of cool animals. Skip the tram. You'll spend more time waiting for a tram than if you just walk the exhibits.
Bummer that the lion croaked. Cool place. The giant guinea pig had a weird bloody membrain hanging from it's butt. I really dug the mullet bird. Nice ppl working there.
Great for families! Good diversity of animals for a smaller zoo.
Loved this zoo and museum, we can't wait to go back! A small part is being remodelled right now but it didn't interfere with our day
I took my son here and my ex and her husband and other kids, it actually was a great time. Everyone was able to get together and just relax for a while. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Lots of fun, lions and tigers and bears! O my! The museum is really interesting and well done as well.
Perfect for little kiddos! My son is obsessed with the dinosaur exhibit I wish it would stay permanently. Nice little zoo for a rural area. The museum is amazing too.
Cool zoo and museum... Good clean family fun!????????
Nice zoo! The museum is great and very well done. They layout of the zoo is nice and they have a several areas for just kids to play and explore.
Nice time with the family for a nice price. Lots of different animals and sites to see. Big but yet not too big to wear you out extremely. Loved this little adventure!
Was a pretty decent Zoo overall. Had lots of animals the main reason we wanted to go was to see the Tigers for my daughter she even dressed up as a tiger come to find out the Tigers were off of display and she was really upset about that. The staff at the gift shop didn't seem to adapt to Children very well my kids kept asking them questions about things that they had there and they were a little bit snotty. Kids ask questions. Other than that we would come back again
Awesome zoo and so quiet! Not super busy
The zoo was fantastic. Great animals and friendly staff. The only bad thing was most of the other visitors did not wear face masks or social distance. I.e. the reptile house was very crowded and we were the only ones who had masks.
Had a very good experience here. 2nd time I’ve been there. My granddaughters age 7 and 10 love this place. Very clean and staff are great.
The employees are all GREAT! The museum is different and fun. I am only giving 3 stars due to the animals all looking a bit sad. Most all of them were pacing back and forth and generally made me feel bad for them. I am sure the zoo saved most of them from euthanasia.. but, there just has to be a better solution.
Very nice, well kept zoo. Smaller so young families can still see everything. Very friendly and helpful employees. We keep going back.
New spider exhibit interesting. Grandsons loved it and granddaughter stood in doorway! She did enjoy a few of the games and designing a life size web.
Such a great museum Knowledgeable staff Animals well cared for
We love this Zoo!!! You can get so close to the animals, and there are plenty of things that incorporate the children into the attraction, such as crawl tunnels. The museum is definately one of a kind.
No wait
Great zoo with a wide variety of animals. Not always the easiest to see some of the exhibits. The inside muesum is pretty cool too
Nice place. We traveled for a family birthday party and brought our dog with us. They allow pets to be boarded in air conditioned space while we walked through the zoo! Huge plus for us as we were coming from the Wichita area and were headed on to more traveling after the birthday party. The zoo itself was nice, lots of walking but good exhibits. Liked all the different "cat" species of animals.
I Was Working Here,But It's A Great Place To Take Your Kids On A Days Adventure!!!
Half the animals weren’t even there cages completely empty low maintenance would not recommend
Lived near here since 2011, and never once bothered with Salinas zoo; probably because I assumed it was something akin to Manhattans- small sad animals and not much to look at. We gave it a go today and it was amazing! You really do get close up to the wildlife, which is so nice. It has a good variety of animals; to include ones you don’t always get a chance to see. Their exhibits were all open, animals in the enclosures. Apparently there is a tram, and while I saw someone comment that it wasn’t running and they “had to walk” around the zoo, I’ll note now that it IS up and running and it’s 3 dollars but the zoo itself isn’t at all hard to trek. If you need assistance getting around they have electric scooter rentals, and strollers for your kids. Yes, you have to wear a mask IF YOU CANNOT MAINTAIN 6’ DISTANCE FROM OTHERS- but we found it easy to get around without anyone getting close. The only thing COVID closed is the giraffe feeding. The museum is so cool, it really takes you through wildlife around the world- but the talking manikins are super freaky... especially when they blink. And, there’s a pair of them that shame you for ruining the rainforest, which is weird. All in all, this was definitely an experience I wish I had visited before. It’s truly a hidden gem in Salina, and is better than the Topeka zoo and the Manhattan zoo. The enclosures do seem small but the animals seem happy and healthy!
Great little zoo with a good variety of animals and good (shaded) viewing areas. The big cat area was cool!
It was horrendous. We are a family of 6, 4 kids and 2 adults. We got tickets all for $60 in total which was good but not for the experience you get at the zoo. Practically every animal we saw was either asleep or dieing from the heat. All in there beds some passed out and others about to be. Not even the vending machines wanted to work. The only decent part was the way sprinklers which kept us somewhat refreshed in the balding sun.
A nice place to go for educational or recreational services. Catering service was great, worth stopping by and visiting.
Fun experience! Lots of walking up and down hills. Staff is VERY friendly!!!
Smaller zoo but amazing animal musuem with 100's of displays
Our son had an Overnight Expedition at Rolling Hills for his 10th birthday, and it was a fabulous time! We love the staff there!
All the animals were sleeping. The musium was good though.
Decent sized zoo with a variety of animals and well maintained. Was disappointed with the museum though. Reasonable price and they offer a military rate.
Great place to take kids with lots of energy. As in the name there are lots of rolling hills.
For a small zoo this is a great place to go. I love it there.
Price for adult entry

This zoo was a nice break on our drive from Topeka to Larkspur. We saw lots of animals and got to stretch our legs. They had bus parking so we could park with our trailer easily. The museum is included with a ticket and was truly an experience.
Very Fun!!! Hope to go again anybody live in Augusta its worth the drive!!$
I was really surprised by how good the exhibits were for the size of the zoo. My favorite part was the museum. I thought the displays were some of the best taxidermy exhibits I have seen.
Such a great little zoo! What a find in Kansas! Superb animals who look happy and healthy. Be sure to spend the day, and check out the natural museum as well!
Cute little zoo. Took about 2 hours to walk. Also has really cool taxidermied animals inside on display.
AMAZING Zoo experience for all ages!! It was 104° the day we went and there was plenty of shade everywhere, as well as water fountains and air conditioned buildings nicely spaced throughout. …
Attractions for both cold and warm days! Check out the museum with a place for the kids to play. On warm days the zoo is the place to be!
Great, spacious, good walkways, lovely mix of animals. An overall pleasant experience.
The staff were all very friendly, lots of shady areas to rest, and it was nice to have a play area for the children to run off some energy. But my favorite part would have to be the museum that showed different animals from other parts of the world. Very cool! I'm planning on going back when the new lions arrive????
Its a good place for family's to get together and walk around and enjoy all the animals its a fun place for kids to learn about the animals to
Great for up close viewing. Could use some more animals, not as many as my last visit 15 years ago unfortunately.
Great zoo. Had indoor area to bring in picnic at museum area. Everyone was super friendly
Some of the animals looked a little unkept. A Deer and a camel had spots that were bleeding. Some of the enclosures were smelly. But the ground were kept clean.
Not a fan took our granddaughter today when it opened. Hardly saw any animal out. Pretty sad experience. Staff wasn't friendly at all. No hello no information as we were walking around . Highly disappointed.

Good variety of animals and displayed where is easy to watch them. Nice to be able to buy lunch on the grounds or bring picnic lunch to eat in pavilion in the parking lot.
We are members of Rolling Hills Zoo - love this place for an afternoon getaway or family outing. Family visiting from out of state insist on seeing the zoo every time they come! The Members' Picnic was where we got to see the snow leopard and lion out and about for the first time. Apparently they're more active at night. Fascinated by the long tail on the leopard! This is simply a great local attraction!!
There are so many things to do. There are lots of things for kids to do and places to play. I especially loved the museum.
This Zoo was surprisingly good. The layout was nice, without a lot of backtracking, though it's quite larger. The exhibits were clean. The animals seemed happy. The staff was polite and friendly, and pointed out how we could see certain things. They had some interesting and uncommon zoo animals (aardvarks and tiger kittens, for example). They also have a cool museum with lots of taxidermy animals in cool locations. We went in the late fall, but this would be a nice place to cool off in the summer. Finally, they a really cool kids area inside the museum with Legos, puppets, an aquarium, climbing equipment, mounted insects, etc. You could spend hours in that room with properly curious children. We'll definitely go again.
Small zoo but the animals have nice enclosures.
Just the right amount zoo. Everything is layed out eaisly enough to make one big loop and see about everything in an hour and a half if you don't stop to read all the signs. Lots of great information, but when you are going along with two kids age two they don't really want to wait for to read the facts when they could be seeing more animals! :) We had a great time!
Very cool zoo! Loved our visit and the museum is amazing!
One of our favorite zoo's!! Friendly staff, great variety of animals. The tiger's today were so active and fun to watch!! Sadly we never got to see any of the rhinos.
Price for adult entry
Terrific zoo. It really doesn't deserve to be called a zoo, as the facility is designed with such attention to the animals' welfare and dignity--making sure they have tons of space to live and move in an authentic habitat, and to the patron's ability to view the animals and get around easily and comfortably. It's obvious that the guy who iteratively built the refuge from a barn with a couple bears and a lion into what it is today is someone who really opened his heart and his wallet to build something that is a real treasure in the heart of rural Kansas. Having been to both, I feel Rolling Hills has as beautiful of grounds, and treats the animals with just as much respect, as the Sydney, NSW (Australia) zoo. It's just a bit smaller (and doesn't have an ocean view).
Love this place. My 7 year old granddaughter has the best time watching the animals
Awesome for a smaller Zoo..great for family's.
Had a great time at the zoo. It does seem like the enclosures are on the small side for the majority of the animals.
No wait
We totally enjoyed our visit at the Rolling Hills Zoo!! The weather was great. We rode the tram and then stopped for a while in the childrens play area. Visiting with the knowledgable volunteers about many animals was nice. They gave us interesting tidbits about the inhabitants. Was even able to get a glimpse of the new Male Lion that was bird watching. We thought he was thinking of lunch as he followed their movement, lol. After seeing all the animals we headed to the gift shop to get a treat. Thanks for working so hard to make our day GREAT!! WE WILL RETURN!
Enjoy coming here from time to time.

The zoo is Nice and when you buy a ticket ypu get intothe museum for free and their staff is Nice.
Museum was awesome. Zoo was kind of sad. Not too much space for the animals. Small exhibits. My wife picked up multiple pieces of trash while we were there..
Great little zoo with a really cool taxidermy museum that was unexpected but added to the value. Highly recommend
Fabulous staff, Beautiful animals. Spacious, Clean Zoo & Museum. Great prices. Our family had a wonderful day!

A great Family place to visit and enjoy great people and lots of Animals and the museum is great
Lots of fun. Big area. Lots of animals. Tram with guide available. Lots of kids activities.
It was pretty hot when we went, so some residents weren't out in the open, but it was a good outing with the grands.
What a beautiful sprawling zoo! The museum is state of the art!!
Great zoo! Excellent layout and great enclosures. The animals have good room and seem well taken care of. My one issue is with them keeping Redtailed Hawks...seems like such a common bird of prey from our area deserves a better life; not sure they contribute to the overall goal of conservation awareness.
Very Covid friendly. Few exhibits closed. And "it's the Zoo."
Great zoo to bring kids or really anyone to.
Truly a beautiful place. Enjoyed seeing the animals so close up.
I had good first impressions about this place because a friend of mine said that this zoo allows people to pet the animals and even the billboard signs say "close encounters" . . . yet when we got there the girl in the gift store told us it was only the kids zone where they have sheep and cows that allows guests to actually touch the animals. Let me tell you calling that area a "petting zoo" is being extremely generous. That was no petting zoo I've ever been to - you can't even get near the animals even though they pose no danger to people. I was just very displeased and disgusted by the extent of false advertisement of this place considering we only tried this place out to pet some animals!! The only animal we were able to pet was a cow!! I think that's absolute bogus. Not only that but I was also very dissatisfied with the fact that you really can't get very up close and personal with the animals like most normal zoos and what I mean by that is you can't step up to the cages or the glass containments - you're standing a good distance away from all the animals and that doesn't offer a very satisfying experience. :/. I was also unhappy that it seemed that there were a few miserable animals lingering around - especially the "vanishing animals" which were alone in their cages and were not placed in there with another of their kind. Nobody wants to go to the zoo to feel sorry for the animals :( and no animal should have to be lonely and it's my opinion that if they're going to be in their environment they shouldn't be placed in it at all. Another thing I did notice and didn't make my trip here much better was the fact that so many of the animals were just gone - nowhere to be seen. A lot of the areas had signs reading they were moved for the winter but I've been to plenty of zoos in the area and never have I heard of this not to mention it's not even winter anymore :/. Some of the positive things I liked about this place was the nice outdoor environment like the lakes and fountains that were very pleasing to the eye and it was nice having affordable food at the restaurant there for lunch. :) I've just personally been to better places and wouldn't recommend this zoo to anyone, but we did have a good time.
Be sure to set aside a couple of hours and have some comfortable walking shoes. Perfect for a nice afternoon friend or family outing.
Great zoo. Staff was super friendly. And to the young artistic girl at the front gate and gift shop, thanks for being so friendly and fun. And keep drawing, u have quite a special gift there.

It was a really nice zoo , clean restrooms, not to bad prices in gift shop . Friendly staff . My family had the best time
I went here in September of 2013 with my wife when my brother was in town visiting us for the weekend. I'm in the army stationed at Fort Riley and, quite honestly, sometimes it can be hard to find quality things to do around the area, but the Rolling Hills Zoo in nearby Salina is one of the best! Only about an hour drive from Fort Riley, this is a great family friendly place to visit and a zoo that has many different species of animals. I've been to many zoos in my life, but I'll have to admit, this is my favorite so far because of many reasons. First of all, the admission price was very affordable, and I'm pretty sure I even saved more with my military discount rate here. Before you begin touring the actual zoo, there is a museum featuring many life-size dioramas inside the main building. This was probably my favorite and most memorable part of the zoo experience for me when I visited. The dioramas are very well done, and I honestly can't emphasize that enough! After touring the museum, head out to the actual zoo and see the many, many different kinds of animals they have here. After seeing everything, the zoo also features a nice gift shop that is stocked with items interesting to people of all ages. Factoring in the diorama museum and all the animals they have in the zoo, if you're stationed here like I am or live locally near the area, this is one of the true gems of entertainment that I've found since I got here a few years ago. I can promise one thing, you won't be disappointed after visiting here!
Definitely worth the admission price. They also do a 15% military discount and senior citizen discount (it has discounts for children as well, although I didn't look at them). There are wheelchairs and scooters that you can rent if …
Amazing!!! I didnt get the lady name who answered the phone or the two gentleman who picked us up from our 18 wheeler! We were passing by and wanted to spend some time on the zoo heading to North Carolina we called and asked was there anyway we can park our truck and the lady was sooooooo nice I mean the whole staff was perfect even the face painters and some lady who sat next to us and wiped my son mouth with a cloth because he had some amazing chilli cheese fries from the stand in there! I mean I can go on! We have never been to Kansas and that was a perfect visit! Thank you rolling hills zoo! We will definitely be back one day!

I love it
The museum part was a lot of fun, I would have to give the zoo portion another shot though. We were there as a part of a girl scout 500-1000 cookie sale event and it was pouring down rain and cold. So the only animal out was the lion that everyone mistook for a rock.
We had a fantastic day at the Zoo. Puppet Show, Museum is magical!!! Thank you!
Amazing zoo with wonderful accommodating staff. The exhibits are large and animals all looked happy and playful. Zookeepers were knowledgeable about every animals past before they got to the zoo. Tram driver knew many interesting facts about the history of the zoo. The museum was very interesting and something I have never seen at any other zoo. For $14 you can get a days worth of fun and learning. Highly recommend.

We had a great time at the zoo and enjoy many of the exhibits.
Wildlife amusement at its best. Nature up close and personal like nothing you've seen. Fun for all ages.
Just wish the one brown camel had a bigger enclosure. He just walked in circles
Love this place. It's clean, safe, kid-friendly, and you can tell they care about the animals.
Real cool place. Check out the wildlife museum
Wonderful park for the animals and knowledgeable docents! Ride the train!
Great zoo for Salina area. It was clean and the staff was very friendly.
Today was the first cold day of fall. We were on our way home from Manhattan to Wichita and wanted to stretch our legs and get some walking in with our 5yo daughter. This was our choice of stop. I have to tell you - I have a masters degree in museum studies and worked in museums for years. The “museum” at Rolling Hills has THE best nature based dioramas I have ever seen. I have been to every Smithsonian, the Field Museum, and the NYC museums. I was blown away. The quality, care, and vast number of taxidermied species was unreal to me. After we went through the museum we braved the cold and walked the zoo, enjoying every little thing along the way. It is clean, animals seemed well cared for, species were varied and interesting. We happened to come upon a keeper feeding the rhinos (never have I seen an Indian rhino in person, and being a huge Albrecht Durer fan, I was thrilled to pull out my phone and show my husband the hundreds of years old sketch that so matched their rhino!). She was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It was a joy to talk to her and she interacted with us in such a way that I didn’t want to move on to more exhibits. I am grateful we stopped, and I do have one suggestion. The museum nerd in me really wants to know the provenance, exhibit history, taxidermy team, and level of care the specimens in the dioramas receive. It is worth a small pamphlet or note on the website for sure. Someone’s collection is vastly impressive, and they deserve credit in a short book that I would definitely buy from the gift shop! Ideally it would have the same informative maps of each exhibit but then specimen history as well as species history. We will be back!

Not sure
Such an incredible place to have in central Kansas. We just love the museum.
Many animals here look unhealthy and living in a dirty environment. Over 50% of the animals were put away and unable to be seen, but still charged full price. Employees were quiet and not helpful. Disappointing and wont be back.
Lots of fun. Not too crowded and spaced out nicely!
Always fun activities for families, lots of hands-on play areas, good variety of animals and often new attractions keep things fresh for those with memberships.
Lots of interesting animals. All of the animals look well cared for. The habitats are clean. Prices are very reasonable.
We enjoyed strolling around the zoo and eating a nice lunch at the restaurant. This place is great for people of all ages!
Beautiful setting nestled in the hills nice relaxing walk
It was a great experience with the family an friends
Not alot of shade, but very cool zoo and museum
Very, very impressed. Been to many, many Zoo's including St. Louis, Nashville, Cincinnati, etc. I was highly impressed by how diverse the selection of animals was and the overall quality of the experience itself. I was highly impressed to see such a well put together zoo in the middle of Kansas. It may be small but felt just as well done as a big metropolitan area zoo. Honestly the quality of service from all the staff was better than most anywhere else. If you're heading down interstate 70 through Kansas then I highly recommend this place to get out and stretch your legs. It's well worth it. The prices are super cheap as well. Also, make sure and go through the museum before you leave. It was very impressive.
Beautiful, small zoo, and well worth the price of admission. The dioramas in the hall were quite amazing.
Always a great place to go. They had a baby giraffe, SOOOO cute!

Favorite spot for a few hours to a half day. Food is really good and reasonably priced. Don't miss the museum!!
For a smaller zoo, it still has a wide variety of animals. The facilities are clean! The museum is interesting and has a great play area for children. Friendly staff
We were there early in the morning so animals were not all out. But nice little zoo
A wonderful local attraction. World class dioramas.
Small zoo. Easy to see animals. Well taken care of.
Fun place for the kids close to home
Awasome the museum was amazing some of the noise and robotics scared the bejesers out of me but it was amazing and fun
Wonderful place to be if u want to see wild animals n if u want a good exercise it's the good place to go!!
Pretty remarkable the place Charlie created. Always great to see the improvements they make and friendly staff.
I really liked this zoo. Greatly surpassed my expectations. Visited on the way home just after visiting Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and I was impressed. The museum walk through was also great and really well done. Walking through the entrance I could see this zoo is well maintained and cared for.
Beautiful place. Many animals, and you get close to them! Museum is wonderful too. My kids love it so much we get a membership every year. Two great play areas (one inside, one outside).
Not a big zoo but very well done, and a very healthy diverse bunch of animals
Check it out if you havent been. A great little zoo.
Excellent place for adults and kids to explore different species of animals, that one would not encounter otherwise.
This little zoo has only been around for about 25 years. But in its relatively short life it has grown into quite a destination. Lots of stuff to do and many beautiful animals to see. It also has one very nice zoological museum with alot of care to details. It's a must see if you're traveling down either direction on I-70

Clean, friendly staff, Animals well taken care of.
Very nice zoo. Great place to take kids.
This zoo was amazing! Came from out of town and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness, upkeep, cool animals, and the amazing staff. The only downfall (which can't be helped) was the heat. Plan accordingly! If you need a break from the heat, the museum was very cool (pun intended) and a great display of history. Lots of animatronics to my surprise as well. I will most definitely be making a donation to their cause, and will attend here in the future road trips to come. They also take care of your dog during your stay at the zoo. Amazing place and great for the whole family.
Very nice and clean zoo. Animals look healthy.
Love visiting the animals! And it's a pretty clean zoo to visit. They take great pride in their place
This zoo is huge so come prepared! Loved the exibits and the play areas. Restaurant was pricey but not bad. All in all very fun!
Good medium-sized zoo. We got to see many animals.up close in our visit. Staff wS very helpful and friendly and gift store items were reasonably prices. The grounds were clean. Great place to visit!
Great place to visit!!! Animals are very well taken care of and staff are amazing.
Such an awesome Zoo! The Museum is the coolest part.
One of the best zoos out there. Staff is friendly and talkative. Habitats are well maintained and clean. Definitely a worthwhile visit.
Very peaceful and cute zoo. Staff was friendly. Animals had large enclosures and the option to go inside whenever they pleased, which was good. Lots of trees and plants. Coming from the city, this place was beautiful and a lot better than the zoo at home. Zoo is very spread out and there is a kid zone with goats as well. Overall a great place for people of all ages to have fun!
We love coming to this zoo. We live an hour and 1/2 away and visit this zoo multiple times a year.
Friendly staff and well groomed facility, those animals are pampered.
It was hot do the animals were pretty lazy...lol. The museum is amazing . The talent it took to do all that is beyond belief. Thanks to all.
My family and I do zoos all the time, this zoo, by far, is the most well maintained and friendly staffed of any zoo I've been to. You can tell the people here care about what they do and the customer experience. Very impressive Rolling Hills Zoo!
Worth the stop. I just finished walking through looking at the animals and now I'm eating a cheeseburger and fries. The staff is friendly and you can get pretty close to the animals in most cases. I will be coming back... if even only for the painted dogs.
Great family fun. The museum was awesome.
We love going to the zoo! Awesome exhibits, great place for our whole family!!
A good zoo, a great natural history museum! The dioramas are amazing and very well done. Everyone in the family should enjoy it.
Great exhibits. Great family fun.
The food wasn't great. But the animals were cool and entertaining to look at. The enclosures seemed a little small for the big cats. But it was a nice time. However, the animal museum was pretty great.
Very nice Zoo. Nice way to break up the drive on I-70. The best part is the musuem.
Super friendly staff. We arrived on a day when it was 100 degrees outside and went to the museum instead. Pleasantly surprised at the numerous animals that we learned were almost all taxidermied!
This was a great stop on our road trip! Lots of shady spots to look at the animals. Plenty of benches. Lots of animals to see. Fair price. And a very interesting wildlife museum.
Weekend
Took the kids and grandkids. We had a great time. I love the museum too.
Good variety of animals. Loved the rhinos!
It was nice to all TVs animals and the food at the restaurant there was really good
We walked & we also rode the tram. Our tram driver was the best we've ever had, very well informed and even seemed to have gone beyond the training requirements. The gift shops are nice and the museum is GREAT ( I typically don't like museums). The weather was only about 80° so animals weren't hiding from the heat.
I took my girls her last summer and I have to say I was extremely impressed that something like this exists especially in rural Kansas. The zoo was excellent. I would argue better than KC and Wichita (maybe even Denver Zoo) relative to the quality of animals and exhibits. The museum was really great....by farm my favorite part.
I was there for my birthday and their 20th Anniversary celebration on October 26, 2019! We got to see the tiger play with her triplets and it made my whole day!!! It was beautiful weather and all the animals were out and visible! The Lemurs were in the process of moving so we were disappointed we didn't get to see them but a glimpse of one!!! I lost my anniversary bag somehow and the director personally made sure they saved me one at the entrance hut!! It was so thoughtful!!! Thanks for a great birthday!!!
A wonderful Zoo very friendly people I really enjoyed myself there.
Was able to visit the overlook restaurant while there and had the best burger I've ever eaten. I had the dbl cheeseburger and it was so good I didn't even realize it didn't have any toppings until I was almost done.
Nice zoo, like the trans that's available with stops for you through out the park. Don't have to stay on one can stay as long as you like n catch another one
Great prices and lots of shade. Trams incase walking isn't an option. Must see their museum
A fun place to visit with our kids..they have sore done a lot to develop the zoo. Check it out if you have the chance!
Wonderful zoo and museum. A must stop when in the Salinas area!
A great place to go if you want to thoroughly enjoy two hours or more! Both the museum and the zoo were great! We visited on a warmer day in March and still got to see lots of animals. The habitats are oriented to really allow you to see the animals up close!
Very well taken care of animals , very slow paced and un crowded so glad my family and I were able to finally check rolling zoo out . Not bad for a small zoo at all .
Half the animals weren't out. It took us an hour to go through the entire place
What a fun experience, and I have got such an amazing value out of membership

Absolutely love this zoo! I have gone here since I was tiny. I love the feed station for the fish! So sad to here about the lion recently! We were about the same age. Staff always seen to be friendly. Animals always seem happy.
One of the better zoos....great museum..wow
We traveled from Houston TX to Kansas, and looked for a place to go out and explore, we loved the things they have here, really nice zoo! We had a wonderful time!
Always a fun place to take the kids and grandkids. Love it.
The zoo and the museum were both amazing! Our family loves Rolling Hills Zoo. The zoo has a beautiful location. The new tigers are big and bold. It was easy to walk around and there were lots of places...
Some of the enclosures seem small, but iI don't know enough about wild jungle cats or apes or whatever to say if they really are or not. Overall a nest place to visit. .
Very caring place! You can see the love and care they have for the animals. Very clean and well maintained.
the zoo was amazing. It had several animals that I had not seen in awhile. The animals seem to have very natural habitats and several of them had large areas. The museum was fantastic and was way more than I expected. They had several animatronics to help educate the children. Definitely well worth the money.
One of the best Zoo's we have visited. Very clean.

This is great for the Salina area. It's not as robust as the bigger zoos, but it does satisfy that itch to see live animals and the museum is very well done.
Fantastic! Clean, friendly and educational!
Super dope place to take the fam. Three thumbs up ????????????
Very nice touring the zoo on their Tram Ride! Nice exhibits and very helpful guides!
This is a hidden gem! Would never have expected a Zoo this nice in the middle of nowhere. A must visit if you are a Zoo fan.
I really enjoy going to this zoo. There's a good selection of animals. They also have a museum and different events to participate in. The only disadvantage is that it's outside of Salina and can be a little hard to find, it's worth it though.
It was a nice zoo, with lots of animals. They also had a cool museum.
Wonderful.place, staff are awesome!

I absolutely loved this Zoo. It was a nice break on a long trip. The staff was very friendly, the museum was really neat and a nice assortment of animals. A couple of animals I have never seen at other zoos. It takes about 2 hours to see everything. Well worth the side trip.
Clean, friendly staff. Animals arent always out in view for visitors. Wish they could add some animals and new attractions?
Had a blast, can't wait to go back and visit again.
Loved it best zoo so far and staff was excellent ???? 10 stars if I could
We have a good variety of animals but it can be a bit pricey.
The museum was awesome!!! Can spend hours just there.
The zoo was still in it's off season so it wasn't as exciting as we expected but the Museum was hands down the best museum I've been too!
Museum was great Couldn't go out side cause it was pouring rain
Disappointed lots of the animal exhibits didn't show, but the Museum was a nice walk around . Would like to visit again on a better weather day.
This place was a unique experience. Every person that works or volunteers there was extremely friendly.
Have a membership here I love this zoo and so does my family
Great place!! Have to be ready to walk for awhile, but lots to see and discover.
Great Zoo, needs 3 to 4 hours for a good look. But a 1 hour tram ride will give you a lot too see. If you are traveling with a pet, they have a great kennel that's free. The staff in the guest center are great. We really enjoyed it.

Wonderful zoo!
I was not very comfortable at this zoo, employees give you the wrong info. My husband got so upset we had to leave to go home will probably never go back.
Nice place for family outing
Great experience, especially the hundreds of stuffed animals in the museum.
Good sized zoo. Great for walking the toddler and baby around with a stroller. Animals all were on nap breaks.
My wife and I love to Zoo hop. We've been to the Topeka Zoo, Kansas City Zoo, Sunset Zoo, Omaha Zoo and now here. I have to say this is probably one of the best zoos for the state of Kansas (KC Zoo is in Missouri so I'm excluding it lol). But for a smaller to medium sized zoo, this one was really great, partly because the animal museum is a great bonus that is part of your admissions price. The zoo part was really well laid out. It is spacious but not to hard to walk, it isn't that big but big enough to have a fair amount of animals. The animals are in nice enclosures and some have a good amount of space to live in. Usually smaller zoos have animals in small spaces, but this zoo has pretty large enclosures for their animals. To me the other plus is they don't have a lot of the same species in one exhibit. Some zoos will have one too many of a certain animal that should really accommodate one or maybe two of that said animal. Here there is one to three in a larger enclosure, the exception is the chimps, but I felt between the outdoor and indoor living spaces they had were a good size for this size of zoo. To me the biggest attractions that were really worth it was the rhinoceros and the chimpanzees. The rhinos were walking around and seemed pretty happy. The chimpanzees were awesome and were running around, playing, eating and seemed to enjoyed where they were at. Overall the animals looked really well taken care of, again, especially for a smaller zoo. Now, to be honest, at first I didn't think the museum was going to be that great. I thought yeah we will go through it but It wasn't a priority for me. But boy was I wrong. Honestly, the museum I think is a great gem this zoo has. Don't get me wrong, the animals were great, but the museum was really awesome, the dioramas were awesome and the animals seemed to be life sized and not miniatures or scaled down. I have to say, the zoo is about 2 hours and the museum is about one hour. So 3 hours of time is well worth it. I think if you slowed down and ate and really animal watched and take it all in you could make this a 4 hour trip. We ate before we came and my daughter is 3 and wanted to keep looking at the next animal because she loved it. But I think you could get 4 hours between the two if you really took the time. Overall, a really great zoo. It ended up being better than I expected, especially the museum. Trust me, the museum is pretty awesome!

It may very well be the time of year, but our visit to the zoo was a bit of a bummer. Many of the exhibits were empty and several snimals looked sad and lethargic. The zoo was clean, well laid out, and would have had a nice variety of animals if the exhibits were all filled. Sadly, as it was when we visited, it's barely worth the money.
Small, but mighty, zoo. Easy access from I-70 and great exhibits. The rhino and giraffe barns are some of our favorites.
best zoo I have been to in a very long time
Great place to visit. Will come back.
Took one bus load of elementary school students to the zoo. Everyone had a great time. The staff was nice and informative. Great place.
90% of the animals were not in their area or they were sleeping.
Great little zoo in the middle of nowhere! LOL
Had a great day, and generally love this zoo. However, we had trouble navigating it (doing some renovations and walking directions were a bit unclear) and didn’t care for walking through the museum prior to the zoo.
Staff were very nice. It was very nicely maintained. The animals seem very much loved. I would definitely recommend and come again!
It's a great place to walk around and has a lovely, clean atmosphere. The museum is great too if you need a place to cool off.
Very nice, clean facility. But this is the second time in a row that I saw hardly any animals. Too hot and the wrong time apparently. Would recommend calling them and asking what is the best time. Still a very nice zoo.
$11–15
They had great food and tons of animals. Spent 3 hours there with our kids.
Lovely morning at the zoo. We were able to see most of the animals. Lucky enough to witness the feeding of the monkeys. Very entertaining.
Plenty of animals to see. Food is really pricey.
What a great zoo! Clean and full of exotic animals.
This is a great local zoo. It's the perfect size for a nice family walk, and the animals have some funny personalities.
Amazing! The price is very reasonable for everything they have! My family of 5 enjoyed our visit and will definitely be coming back!!
Not worth the price of admission. Was the worst zoo that I've ever been to. The animal enclosures were mostly empty and what animals I did see looked lethargic and/or just miserable. Really depressing place.
It was amazing the animals had plenty of space, and the museum was so realistic it was like being in their habitats!
We love it. So clean and nice place to visit. And love the new play ground area
Love it! The Dioramas are amazing!!! A must see, I love that they DON'T have elephants, taking animals out of the wild for the sake of people to gawk at is less than attractive. Thank you Rolling Hills for being a good Zoo.
Great for its size. It's never packed and easy you navigate. One of my favorite places to take the family.
Nice smaller zoo for the money. Kids loved it to
Great zoo to visit! Lots of animals. Don't forget to check out the museum while there.
Lots of sleeping/ MIA animals. The only bathroom open was the one at the entrance, which wasn't indicated on signs. A little frustrating when you've got a newly-potty trained toddler than needs to go. Otherwise, clean, peaceful, and plenty to keep you busy for a couple hours.
We had a great time. I suggest on hot days you take drinks because most of their pop machines were empty. But up by the food they have drinks and snow cones.
Well kept zoo with quite a bit of variety. Sadly, its location might keep a little unknown, but maybe that's the benefit. A hidden gem. Been there three times in about fifteen years. Still need to visit the associated museum.
The zoo and museum offered a variety of activities for all ages. We could have spent hours inside at the kids play area with our toddler. The tram ride is worth it! We were able to see and hear all about the zoo and stop several times to get off and look!
So glad to have visited here finally! Beautiful layout, great exhibits, the museum was wonderful, cute gift shop. Admission prices very reasonable and tram rides were only $3 per person. Great place for everyone of all ages with restaurant …
Awesome Zoo! The museum is one of the best in the midwest. Kidos!!!
Nice displays- well cared for facility in a park setting. If you’re visiting Salina and have animal loving kids or your an animal lover yourself then stop in!
This was our 2nd time visiting this zoo and it never disappoints! You can see so many of the animals up close and they appear to be well taken care of. Staff is friendly and the facilities are very clean. One of our favorite zoos!
The museum is really cool and the zoo is decent but if you get the food it may ruin the experience
Could not go in because of the weather
So fun my daughter really enjoyed it. Even though most of the animals were not out due to the heat.
The zoo is good sized well layed out the disappointment is with the trolly only runs on the weekends the zoo is nice the best part is the museum is the best part the displays are better then the Denver's nature and history museum
Up to 10 min
I had a blast with the family. 1st time being there and the museum was awesome
Love it, very kid friendly! Recommend the Museum too!!
While it contributed to some misleading advertising on the number of animals on display at the zoo, the dioramas in the main building are extensive and detailed. There is a playground in the zoo, to help kids expend energy. There are crawlspaces around some exhibits so kids can have a closer look and remain engaged during their visit.
The Zoo was wonderful. Such a fun place!!!
Great time. They had misting stations around the zoo to cool off
It's fun and you can take any children there and they would enjoy it
Wait time
I really liked this zoo however I would recommend them getting a new map pretty hard to read it. (And im pretty savvy at reading maps if I do say so myself!)
One of the best, if not the best, zoo in Kansas. Good sights and they are AZA certified.
Toddler loved it! It was big and there were lots of animals. Wish we could of been there when they had the feeding of the animals open.
Such a great zoo experience. Can't wait to travel back again
Always love taking a family trip here ...
Great place to bring your kids or to just hike around. Lots to see and do for all ages.
Great place for a day trip. I highly recommended for families. You can choose to walk the zoo or pay extra to ride the tram.
Clean, helpful staff, easy to navigate, nice large exhibits (some being updated).
This zoo is absolutely wonderful! My daughter refuses to go to any other zoo. Some people complain about some single animal exhibits, but there are some animals that live that way in the wild and Rolling Hills does the best they can to keep the animals as close to a normal existence as possible
This is the perfect sized zoo for kids 10 and under. No big lines or crowds and the ability to get up pretty close to see most animals without depressingly small cages and enclosures. Animals and grounds seem well cared for and you can see everything inside and out in 2-3 hours for a fair price.
Is had a great day with my daughter and grandchildren
The family loves this. You can quickly walk through or take your time. We make this as a pit stop when driving from KC to Denver. It feels very up close and personal.
Great place close to home to take the kids!!
A great place place to stop in if you are on a road trip. Also, great for the family, classroom tours etc. I had a great experience here.
This zoo was nice. The kids loved it.
This is like two attractions in one because the indoor wildlife museum is a different experience from the zoo.
This place is really nice, the zoo is clean . They have good food and all the staff is helpfull and nice
We love this place! Make a point to stop, great with the kids. Small and intimate.
Had a blast! 'Twas a hot day, glad we did the museum after the zoo, the dioramas and AC revived the kids energy (and my own ;)).
The zoo and museum were incredible like always. The dinosaur exhibit was extra fun.
Great place for kids and family time!!!!
Great zoo good museum its call rolling hills for its location alotta up and down hill walking. Be warned
The museum is one of the most unique and incredible things I've ever seen. It's a MUST.
Great little zoo. As a herpetological enthusiast im disappointed in the lack of reptiles, but it's a small zoo in a small town. The keepers are very nice and were more than willing to speak with me and answer any questions I had.
It was an amazing movie my place. The museum was awesome. So many cool animals.
Price for adult entry
It a cute little zoo and well taken care of and beautiful views
Great Zoo and incredible museum. Check out the membership prices and perks.
There for a work function. Food was great. Atmosphere was gorgeous. People were wondering.
We went since it was the last day of the dinosaur exhibit, and my 5 year old LOVES dinosaurs! It was a perfect day!
Great place for the whole family! Very well maintained.
This is a great way to spend a couple of hours. Cute, clean little zoo with a fun museum. Our whole family enjoyed it
Forget just crossing Kansas--Need a break--this will surprise you. This zoo and its museum are above average. They have a tram so it is easy for all ages to tour the animal exhibits. Obviously the small children will love the live animals and the taxidermy exhibits in the diorama. Come to Rolling Hills in June and not only can you go to the zoo, but by checking dates, you could also go to Salina's River Festival. Forget the break--stay awhile. Salina will offer you many surprises!
Love this zoo. It's small, and prefect for kids. Great play areas. Lovely trails. Wonderful staff.
I was volunteering at Deami Night 2019. Dream Night at Rolling Hills Zoo is for children that are disabled or have a terminal illness. The kids and their family enjoy a free night at the Zoo and a meal. It is very rewarding to help at this event.
I've been going here since the ripe young age of two. I cannot name a better place with better service, experiences, and good old fashioned family fun!
The zoo and museum are amazing. The hospitality of the staff are second to none. We used the zoo as a break from I-70 but wished we lived closer to enjoy the zoo and museum on a regular basis. The museum is a can't miss part of the zoo.
Enjoyed all the animals at the Rolling Hills Zoo with friends today.
Amazing staff did a wonderful job creating activities for a child's birthday party. They were incredibly efficient and organized. Everyone understood their roles, interacted well with children, and did an outstanding job using the allotted time to keep the kids interested and involved. Great job!
We took the grands here. Just s little spur of the moment trip. For the small size it was very nice. Love the museum it was great. Prices are good staff is great.can tell they are giving it some much needed tlc. Definitely going back.
Rolling Hills is a great place to take a family day. If you decide to ride the tram the drivers are very informative and engaging. If you want to have a gathering out there the staff are very welcoming and ready to help.
I love it! Such a beautiful place to take the kids!
People were super nice to my special Ed class, not many animals were out but we had fun anyway. Beautiful setting
Always fun great small zoo have tram ride to take you around prices not bad.
Great variety of animals, the museum is very unique and the kids area in both the zoo and museum are fun for kids!
My family always has a great time at Rolling Hills! We've been going for years and my son LOVES the new dinosaur installation.
We visited on a Thursday in late July and had the place to ourselves! The enclosures are accessable and it's easy to see the animals. WONDERFUL place. Very friendly staff who went out of their way to be helpful (the tram driver made extra stops at our request and even radio'd the gift shop to see if they had sunblock for me. Couldn't recommend more highly.
No wait
Not really happy with it at all. A lot of the animals seemed injured, the golden eagle, the red tail hawks and a sheep had three bad wounds and what looked like blood around his neck. A bear had a broken paw and something severely wrong with his jaw. The animals seemed almost afraid as the worker came around to feed them. I inquired about the sheep to the man in the barn and he said, "they come that way". So I do not know if this is a rehabilitation place slash zoo I don't know but my heart broke for the animals. Will add photos soon.
Rolling Hills is a firsr class zoo. It has everything from giraffes to Hippos to ant eaters to panthers elephants etc Has two gift stores with everything from $1,00 to $99 Thip have stuffed animals of every animal in the Zoo You can volunteer at the zzoo and learn how to feed the animals. I RECOMMEND BUYING A Tram pass its miles to walk all the was around the Zoo They also have an indoor exhibit with stuffed anomals that move and have rooms for patys and weging receptions It several hours to see the whole thing. The have a hamburger snack shop to eat in and two full line gift shops ( Its expensive to get your kids out of there!!!)
Had more dead animals in the museum than in the whole zoo.
I figured they would have more for the expensive price. Nothing like the St. Louis zoo, which is humungous and free
Love the layout, but I also enjoy a long stroll to go with the exhibits. Not the greatest variety of animals, but I love the zoo, all the same
Was a great experience with our 3yr and 4yr old. All the staff was very polite. Will definitely be coming back for future vacation trips. Thank you guys excellent work your all amazing
My son's wedding was there today. It was beautiful and the service was great.
Absolutely wonderful family friendly zoo. Visited today (June 8, 2018) with my 21 month old son in tow and had a blast. The zoo was clean and well kept. The staff were around and busy with duties (which is nice to see) and were friendly when interacted with. Some people were complaining about the lack of animal movement but, let’s be real here, it’s summer and we’re hot so they are too. Overall a wonderful trip and experience. If you want to see the animals more active, attend the zoo earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon. Despite the weather, the ostrich, camel, and giraffe feeding opportunities are wonderful.
Good experience. Catch the new museum...
Great zoo! I love the space and how close we could get to the animals. My kids (5&2) loved it. We drove from Topeka to go and we will definitely go again!
Very nice zoo and museum
The staff is friendly. The facilities are clean. They're mindful of Covid. They do a very good job of answering questions. They do an especially great job at their live animal presentations. Currently you can't touch the animals they present, but it's still very cool to get an up close and personal look at the animals they're presenting.
Wonderful place to take your children! We had so much fun! Cleanest zoo I have ever been too! Can’t wait to return!
Very nice exhibits and people. Also very kid friendly
