REVIEWS OF Trent-Severn Waterway, Lock 35 - Rosedale IN Kawartha Lakes

Nice place to walk in the winter time away from the ATV's and snowmobiles.

To rate the docking wall at Lock 35 in Rosedale is a little hard as it is a matter of personal preference: do you want to be completely secluded in wooded surroundings, or do you prefer to be close to one of the adorable little towns along the Trent Severn. There are very few conveniences at the docking wall of Lock 35: no water and no electric (at least at the upper wall where we stayed at), no small town close by to go buy supplies or to eat at a restaurant. However, there was decent WiFi available and CLEAN restrooms and showers. We are told by the locals, and have read as well, that from Lock 35 up to Lock 41 is pretty much the same situation. So be prepared and stock up at the last lock that offers all the conveniences: Lock 34 in Fenelon Falls. However, we will find out about all of this once we experience it first hand!!!

Great camping spot! The staff are kind and helpful and the park is absolutely beautiful. Clean bathrooms, and I challenge you to try and find litter or anything out of place.

Love it, love going through the locks and love the Parks Canada staff who are friendly and efficient and getting even the non-boaters with boats where they need to be to navigate the locks.

Kayakers warned to wear personal flotation devices and STAY AWAY from the dam. Dam causes underwater hidden fast current resulting in undertow pulling kayakers underwater. News reports group of kayakers pulled into dam Aug 2021 and 1 kayaker drown. Not for children.

Lock master here is crusty. Does not seem to regulate boat traffic equally. Rarely tells the boats to slow down in the NO WAKE zone. Same master in Lindsay

We rented a house boat and toured through the Trent Severn. The lock masters are great to talk to they are all very knowledgeable. Great times

The new young lock master is not so friendly and family oriented, not stable for this position. However the location is excellent with beautiful scenery to visit with entire family.

Quiet, easy to get in and out. Camping available if you are so inclined. Ample overnight docking. Nearby marinas if you need fuel.

I love being able to travel lake to lake by using the locks. The price is based on the length of your vehicle. Eg. Personal watercrafts (Sea Doo) it's $20 for the day and you can go through as many locks as you can. The people working the locks are always very pleasant

Jason Robinson

Jon-Paul Richards

Love the people here and especially love to see the consistency from year to year, like Mike. I feel they are efficient at getting boats through the locks and friendly in doing so. And we appreciate that!

By far my favourite lock I’ve visited so far - the staff here are amazing, the bathrooms and shower are extremely well-maintained and it’s unbelievably quiet. We’ve been seeing a lot of storm warnings (that never actually happen) so barely any boaters are out, just one person docked on the upper side and two on the bottom. The scenery here is amazing too, I don’t have any pictures on hand but I’m sure there’s a bunch of great ones posted on this page.

Arsalan Tariq

They have made 4 oTENTik a cabin and 4 camp site as of summer 2019. Sites are very good but apart from camping there are not so much activity unless you own a motor boat or water activity. Good place for couple of nights out.

We use Otentik in Trent Severn Waterways Lock 35 Rosedale for 3 days. The place is clean and beautiful. There's a small parking lot for the camper. You can park for free if you camp there otherwise you have to pay $2/day . The road to the Trent Severn Waterways Lock 35 Rosedale is unpaved and only covered with gravels. The park office is very close to the parking lot. The staffs are friendly and courteous. They sell firewood and ice in the office park. There are 3 Otentik sites, 2 tent camp sites and 1 cabin in this Lock 35 and they are located in The Deweys Island. You can go to the Island through the bridge. It's only 5 minutes walk from the park office. There's also a shared dock for Otentik 1-3. The Lock gate is almost always busy during the day. You cannot swim in there. If you are into fishing, you can go the dam near the camp site. They provide you with the propane grill, fire pit, solar LED light and USB charger in the Otentik. Otentik can sleep 6 people. The washroom and the shower station are clean and well maintained.

What a great place to camp. This is waterfront cottage for the 99%. Beautiful water, a small dock, a cabin (which would be illegal in most jurisdictions due to size), a fire pit and a gazebo. There is solar lighting and USB ports for mobile charging. What more to ask for? Perfect example of sharing economy. We need this in more locks.

Scott Parkin

Amazing place hwoever you gotta watch out for bugs especially mosquito bites in summer. Friendly staff.
