REVIEWS OF Crawford Lake Conservation Area (Reservations Required) IN Iroquois Falls

Ron McCaillancourt

We covered the Woodland trail(red) and the Crawford trail(boardwalk) in less than two hours with a toddler. Both trails are easy and well-managed. It was raining during our time slot so we waited for the rain to get over and the staff was accommodating with the 30 minute change in the time slot. There were very few people but that could have been because of the rain.

Rejo Mathew

Gorgeous place to hike and visit. Most hikes are relatively easy, but some areas are difficult for those with difficulty walking. I do have some beefs though. Milton and Hamilton conservation areas have now gone to excessive fees for short visits – an hour or 2, and Crawford Lake is no exception. 2 hours max here. At least the park is well kept, unlike some other falls and hikes in and around Milton and Hamilton. On top of that, Iroquoian village can only be seen on the outside, as all structures are permanently closed. We were left very disappointed with this, and with this new trend where any nice view now comes at a price, with no option to park anywhere except in paying zones. In our opinion, the park is worth the visit anyway even though we paid $13 for 2.

House of Michelle

The trails that they have put together there coinciding with the natural setting is fantastic and picturesque. I love that the longhouse village has been put up there to teach people about indigenous culture in a good way. It's definitely a place to take the kids and a great place to learn.

Ian Voaden

I loved Crawford Lake! There are various trails with varying distances. We did the Crawford lake boardwalk route. A boardwalk 1.4 roughly km trail (Blue trail) keeping close to the lake. Nice walk. We also did the longer Woodland trail (Red trail) also around 1.5 km. Amazing photo opportunities. Not too hard.

Linda Irvine

Amazing place if you want to go for a trek

Lloyd Wasser

Amazing nature and exhibits. They are doing a great job of handling Covid-19 and still being open.

Alejandro Cajiao

Great mountain hike. We did the yellow trail first then lake trail and at the end the museum walk. Loved that the trails were all different.

Angel Abundia

Beautiful conservation area. Easy accessible paths for those with young kids, and lots is interesting sculptures along paths. The Iroquois replica village is also beautiful, lots of great staff with insightful info to share, there are 3 long houses to visit, each with a different theme. A must visit for a great day of nature adventures and cultural experience.

Riley K

Really beautiful hike around the lake on the boardwalk, it's a little short but lots to see.

ArNa

Nice walk around the lake on the boardwalk. The area is well kept and is an easy walk.

Beautiful encounter with nature in a picturesque park.

Raihan Amb

Great spot weather you want a short and leisurely walk or a longer trek! Lots to see and do, learn amd observe.

Corinà Bleoca

Crawford lake is just amazing, but not so great when it's busy because of COVID. Best in the summer and fall.

Adeel Kazim

This is the perfect place to take a break from the concrete jungle. Large hiking trails with cute wooden ornaments around them. Trails are well organized and signed.

Kenneth John Lim

Wonderful place for kids and a hike

Suriya Ragu

Great place for a hike, nice long trails with great trees

Karen Rowley

Stunning place!! Absolutely lovely nature walk!

Jamshid R

Reservations by number of passengers per vehicle are 2 hours. There are 7 trails including Bruce trail and snowshoe trail. Snowshoe rental was not available due to #COVID-19. I also received important info by email including ticks carrying Lyme disease & to bring bug repellent. Wear boots as the trails can be rocky.

Staycation Guru Take Me to Summer (Burlington Beac

An amazing trail with many areas where you can stop, rest, relax, and enjoy the sceneries of the nature. Fall time is mesmerizing with the blend of colors of leafs. Breathtaking!

Arthur Sweezie

Gorgeous hike

Dumitru Gheorghiu

A nice walk with some fantastic wooden carvings and old long houses to view. Not the most scenic but a pleasant walk non the less

Tyler Sarry

Great place to go, especially if you go with children !!!

RV, Ontario

Crawford lake has an abundance of picnic areas. The area is closed for the most part during the pandemic. Definitely a place to come and spend sometime with friends or family. The park has enough parking space as well. A public bathroom that is not very well kept but at least there was one and was not locked.

Danielle Burkart

I liked it even though it was very slippery today. I went down through the sides of the main path using walking poles. But many people were going up and down without any issue. The frozen lake was beautiful.

Sharad Singh

Beautiful park. Lots of different buildings to explore and see. Nice hiking trails and can easily walk to other parks like Rattlesnake Point and Kelso. Pictures are of the walk to Rattlesnake Point

Debbie Wiley

Great place for a walk. Reservations are required. A part of the boardwalk on one side of the lake was closed, but still very nice. Trail I took was a little over 1 hour to complete.

Jairo Alzate

Well maintained, clean, peaceful. Went on a weekday, loved it.

Rex Tsang

Have hiked here twice. Once in the winter with lots of snow. The other time hikked over from Rattlesnake Point. Nice boardwalk trail along the lake. All Trails app really helps you navigate.

Adam Butler

Beautiful place to hike. Make sure you leave plenty of time to take all the trails. Links up to Rattlesnake Point for even more hiking.

Golda Wiseman

Stunning trail

Neman Syed

We enjoyed Crawford Lake so much! They have lots of trails to choose from and they’re all pretty accessible (strollers will be fine). The lake itself is pretty and the view of the escarpment is a very different but stunning view!????????

Michael Mc

Good place

Walter Brooks

A perfect way to spend part of your day. This conservation area is a archaeological site with plenty of artifacts on display and posted signage of historical information. There are longhouses to walk through, a visitor center with gift shop and hot drinks, a little theater to sit in, and eating area. The staff here are all very friendly and informative. Multiple trails loop around the conservation land, but unfortunately Crawford Lake itself is being preserved (also a unique meromictic lake that's continually being researched) and you cannot access it for swimming, fishing, or boating, but there is a long boardwalk that stretches all the way around. Crawford Lake Conservation Area is an great place and I'll definitely go back in the summer to explore it more.

Rashid Ali

This park is extremely clean and well maintained. The signage is more clear than other parks in the area. Due to covid the boardwalk is one way. This was my first time doing these trails at Crawford and I can’t wait for fall to see how it looks! Parking lot is smaller than other parks but with booking reservations it shouldn’t be an issue.

Lisa Nash-Mika

To be honest, we didn't explore Crawford Lake too much. Although the long houses are pretty cool. But hiking here from Rattlesnake Point along the trails is great! There are some picnic tables here where you can stop for lunch or just a rest before heading back along the trails. There's also a store where you can get a cold drink or a treat. You'll also find washrooms and a drinking fountain here.

Seema Bondade

Great place to go to get a quick hike in or a long one. Alot of fun. The boardwalk is nice and sturdy and you get to enjoy being out while being under a canopy for most of the hike. Kids love it

Fairy Good Designs Co

Easy hike on a raised boardwalk around the lack and indigenous historical site.

Nigel Maunder

Very nice family oriented place with lots of options to keep kids busy. Hiking is great too as there are quite a few trails of different length and difficulty level. Highly recommended.

Mrs. Gagnon

Lovely park with lots of easy, strolling trails. Read up on the history, very interesting. Beautiful carvings along some shorter family friendly trails.

Manju Lakha

Beautiful place for a quick hike. Can be done with kids as well. There are trails of varying length and difficulty. Wish the long houses were open.

Matt Ador

Nice walks around the edge of the escarpment with some steep sections and good views. They have native long huts that we didn't have time to go in. The elevated board walk around the lake is interesting. They have cool chainsaw carvings now too.

Esmonde Tan

Great trails to explore. Peaceful setting. Interesting lake and great wooden trail around it.

Alia

There are so many aspects to this area. There are historic elements,Indigenous recreated site and trails to enjoy.I enjoyed the boardwalk trail (blue). It wasn't too long ,it was along a guided path and had enough elements to make it enjoyable.I love the wooden sculptures but I wish we had greater views of the lake area. One section is closed that would probably prove closer lake views. The Social Distancing was difficult at times with narrow boardwalks. You couldn't simply stop and take pics on a busy day or you may create traffic issues. The walk is easy and well shaded.Wear bug spray and you will be fine.

Mandy Tor

Fabulous hiking spot. Beautiful look out point. Half of the trail was challenging and the other half was easy. A few trail options are available.

Diane Mclavish

What a great place! They have: a unique lake that is v shaped at the bottom.. only a few hundred like it in the world. There is boardwalk... There are recreated log cabins.. There are trails to the escarpment.... There is a connection to rattlesnake point.... So, for beginners with strollers, you can go around the lake... Very educational.... You can check out the recreated village... For intermediates, you can explore the longer trails.... For advanced hikers, head over to rattlesnake point and back... Reminder:. Due to the unique features of the lake do not go in the water and do not throw anything into the water

Roderick Flynn

Amazing but watch out the trails are slippery during winter.

Hand Graft'd Creations

I likely would never go on a weekend again. We went last weekend and it was so packed. People were not considerate of keeping any form of space, not even related to covid, just safety in general. A lot of people littering and throwing things in the water. If you do go, we recommend taking the Pine Ridge loop, it will be busy until you get to the turn off. This place has an incredible variety of fungus, some edible varieties and giant puffballs. Its a little sad that people feel the need to destroy the puffballs, they are edible and can be prepared and frozen. We have found some really huge ones in the past there.

Aleks Kozyrev

Very beautiful hiking site with a great view. Perfect for hiking with your family

Matthew Trask

Lovely outdoor trails. Boardwalk around the clear clear clear pond which has lots of fish and wildlife There is also lots of interesting carvings along the way. Stunning work! The longhouses are in really good shape and full of native American history. Animal skins, herbs, tools inside it was really neat to see and smell the atmosphere Great place for the whole family

Sean Abraham

At first was surprised why should we pay $15 entrance fee for 2 adults ($7.5 per adult) and I still think it's a little exaggerated. But loved the park, the old Indian village with it's restored long houses, the park attendants, the trails around the lake and in the forest. Nice, quiet and clean park. Good for hikers and for history lovers. Fast Forward August 2021: The entrance fee is $9.5 per person plus tax and you need to make a reservation online to enter the park. Came 4 people and it's ridiculous to pay over $40, when you can travel to any provincial park and pay $18 per car.

Daphne van der Westhuizen

Excellent area to hike in the Autumn. Many trails. Be sure to make reservations.

Paul Bisanti

Connected to the Bruce trail through a side trail, Crawford lake has a great boardwalk that circumnavigates the lake. Many amazing wood carvings caan be spotted along paths with interesting signage. There is also a rebuilt native village near the parking lot with long houses on display.

Catherine Capern

Anytime when we go there, we find peace and tranquility especially on the weekdays. Worth to drive and spend some time a long side the lake and trail path.

Philip Lum

We loved it. Halton does such a great job with their parks.

Diana Ortega

Beautiful area. We went for a winter hike, and had a great time. It was a beautiful day, the trails were snowy and a little icy in some spots, but the ice was snow covered so it wasn't too slippery. As with any winter hike, use caution, and you'll have no problem enjoying the trail. We hiked the Crawford Lake Boardwalk Trail, to see the carved statues. They were beautiful, and nicely dispersed throughout the trail. Will definitely visit this area again, and especially in the warmer season. The visitors centre is a good spot to check out as well, they have a great variety of Aboriginal Art and products.

Mary Sayer

It requires reservation. Very beautiful park and many different trails to choose. 4 stars just because of the mosquitos were crazy.

Minerva Sanchez

Very nice trails. The lake water is very clean.

Myra Azmat

Beautiful. The Yellow trail is very rocky!

Arthur Krzycki

The boardwalk around the lake is pretty cool

Estuardo Cifuentes

It's a beautiful nature and safe place for hiking but now that everything is closed I don't understand why we still have to pay full price entry fee ????

Derek Koch

Cosy little hiking paths, great wooden carvings, informative and interesting longhouses, idyllic little lake. Worth two hours and the few dollars entrance fee, for sure!!!

Krishnan Swaminathan

Really beautiful place to go to. The staff working at the visitor center are so friendly and provided us very good directions and recommendations to the other conservation centers around the vicinity. Definitely recommend for a good hike/walk and absorb the beautiful scenery of the place. Do remember to wear proper shoes during the winter as the floor may be frozen and thus slippery

Erum Zuberi

Easy to medium hike, able cover most of the trails in 2hrs. Just small portion near the pond is nice, everything else just through deep woods. Didn't suffer mosquitos or bugs.

Arminder Kaur Kainth

Terrific park and trails. The village with long houses was very educational and awesome to go through. Thanks for a great day.

Maha Kashmiri

My favourite park so far for a walk or hike, you need to make a reservation ahead of time, many different trail options some are very easy to do with little kids. Enough parking spots wasn’t very busy as well when went during the week. We really enjoyed our family time, you also can bring your food or snacks for a picnic. Very enjoyable and the lake view is amazing, relaxing and refreshing

reta swift

Pleasant well maintained trails

Dimitri Kobrin

Such beautiful trails and views! And the lake on a clear day is fluorescent.

Jason

Generally well maintained / marked trail. Two parking lots. Yellow trail pretty rocky and I didn't enjoy that

Don Whittemore

Good place for hiking and spend a quality time. Some good sculptures carved from the wood. Trail around the lake is good to explore.

Creasy

Perfect place for the family. There are picnic tables by the parking lots and areas to sit down. My 2.5 year old son enjoyed going into the Iroquois longhouses and learning the history. The facilities are all very clean. There is a trail that is stroller friendly with a long boardwalk and we were able to take our newborn with us using our Vista. I would make sure it's a stroller that's made for a little tougher terrain as there are a few areas that might need it. We saw some snapping turtles in the water and there were nice benches and statues all along the trail. It's a short circle around and it was easy for my 2.5 year old to walk the whole area.

FarhanSonia .Shakil

Amazing reconstructed Iroquois settlement. Longhouses are incredible. Feels like stepping back into a time before Europeans arrived in NA. A must see for any local or tourist. The guides are super knowledgeable. The facilities are good here and this is wheelchair accessible, I think. There's a short hike down to Crawford Lake which is a beautiful walk. This site also connects with rattlesnake point which is awesome. Makes for an incredible hike and historic exploration event.

Derek Wilson

Great weekend walk to bring the kids. Trails are not long and the kids love the wood sculptures on the side.

EXCuse Meh

Definitely a worthwhile stop along the Niagara Escarpment. Some great intensity trails and some easy ones too.

Mike Brown

Great park with multiple trails of varying difficulty level. We did the moderate level Nassagaweya Canyon trail (7.4 km loop from Rattlesnake Point Parking lot) + Crawford Lake Boardwalk (1.5 km easy loop) + Pine Valley Trail (3.4 km moderate loop). In early April of 2019, some parts of the trail were icy and muddy, so proper hiking boots are needed. The elevation was gradual and rocky at places which made for a good hike. Would definitely come again in fall or summer for the beautiful scenery and canyon lookout.

Afrin K

Very nice park, but we went to celebrate Father's day because it was impossible to find dinning reservations. So it's 10.00 per person, 1 car and you get two hours. I gave it a 4 stars because 2 hours was not enough to walk around the trails, lake etc. I may have to come back just to walk, and not for celebrations.

Ferdnan P

Great nature trails and good time out. I highly recommend it

Kathrin Konig

Nice hiking trails but gets pretty busy. We missed the lake but hiked the Escarpment trail which was beautiful

Ranjana Chaudhary

Amazing place to see nature.

Kevin O

Amazing lake and scenery. Loved the trail around the lake, very serene and ironically, thanks to covid and hot weather, it was not busy at all. The lake looks surreal, can't wait for fall colors.

Aaron Donkers

Lots of room, scenic

Saad Salman

Great place to hike, the inner loop is a boardwalk so very family accessible. The outer loops are a bit more challenging, but offer great views of the nearby forests.

Yuliya Sharun

The rocks used to go down toward the exit of the park were quite challenging to go down: I wouldn’t recommend it in the winter. Overall beautiful views and excellent for hiking.

John Johnson

Great place to go hiking and to have a picnic with your family or friends. Amazing place. Very educational as well. You can see what the natives used during those times. Those things has been highly preserve in those native village.

Eric De Wildt

Crawford Lake is one of my favourite conservation areas to visit for a relaxed day out in nature. My husband and I went here for our first date and every anniversary after ❤️ The main attraction of this location is the meromictic lake which has a rich history for those of you who want to know more about this beautiful land. We have had the delightful privilege of meeting the resident turtle on every occasion and it is truly fascinating to behold the garden that it carries on it's shell! There are boardwalks to walk on and some small areas where you can get close to the water to dip your toes in. The walk around the lake also has beautiful wood carvings that tell a story of the wildlife and endangered species in the area. The path also has some stunning trees, comfortingly old, with sprawling branches that will make you feel like a child in comparison to their size. The site also houses an exhibt about indigenous people's dwellings along with displays chronicling their lifestyle and history. Truly a memorable place, worth visiting again and again. Highly recommend going on a weekday to enjoy the peaceful energy of the beautiful Crawford Lake.

Ed N

Went there for hiking. The good trails were very good, but most of the trails are just walking trails. Beautiful area, very scenic.

Melissa Waterman

Such a beautiful hiking spot. It wasn’t crowded at all when we went so we were able to enjoy a peaceful view of all these beautiful fall colours.

Nadine C.

Very nice place to spend the day and go on easy and relaxed hikes! Well organized with signs and great views

Elena Rotestan

Absolutely loved it in winters. There are three trails and we did the board walk and the woodland trail. If you are doing the hike in winters, I strongly recommend getting some really good boots or spikes for the boardwalk - that is not maintained and almost becomes black ice. The woodland trail connects to it and is amazing as well. A great place to bring you kids as well! Strongly recommend for a leisurely walk with the family or alone.

Anny Ong

Follow @adventurousgm Easy walk in the park. Nothing challenging. Nice park to bring the family too.

NZP Chasers - Skystock

Beautiful, nice, relaxing walk. Not crowded at all and people were friendly. Staff was knowledgeable on the history of the long houses, which were quite interesting. Can't wait to return for another visit soon.

N VK

This has to be one of my favourite places to disappear to. The serenity of this unique lake, the natural surroundings, trees, escarpment and marsh, are just a small part of what make this place so special. The rebuild 15th century longhouse offer an glimpse into some of the lives of the First Nations people that made a home nearby. Perfect place to take your dog for a walk. Definitely recommend.

Matthew Shutt

Nelson Chan

A tremendous locale for a Fall hike. Loads of history, sculptures and beautiful scenes in abundance!

Heidi Hering

Beautiful day with the family at the lake!

Bartosz Scheller

Really beautiful and quite lake , not so many people around on a weekday. They can use some more picnic tables but not a deal breaker. Go for it.

natasha hillocks

Nature friendly for family for some trails. Learn about the history and the beauty of Crawford Lake.

Pallavi Sachin

Beautiful place with a rich history and great paths.

Christina Villeneuve

Lovely scenery in a warm winter day. The conservation area is good and easy for hiking. but so sad that some period of boardwalk is closed. Walking along the beautiful Crawford lake is such an enjoyment. The lookout for Nassagaweya canyon is also nice to feel the great of Niagara escarpment.

PP in Canada

One of the best places to go during summer and fall season.Boardwalk is long enough to get a good workout and for longer hike take the Rattlesnake trails. Beautiful scenery and wonderful trails. My kids and dogs love this pace. Parking is easy and washrooms are at the information centre. Vending machines inside as well. There is a conservation entry fee but if you have a pass all good.

Necati Engin

I’ve seen more wildlife here than anywhere else in southern Ontario and also looks like a mini Tobermory absolutely lovely

Pavan Bhat

Very pretty nature reserves. Great boardwalk.

Ty Chen

Well maintained and easy to walk in nature with younger kids.

Jehad Affoneh

Main washroom was closed when we visited! Portable washroom wasn't clean enough! Otherwise it was a nice experience! We couldn't see the village as it was closed as well!

Lucia Thapa

Went about an hour before the buildings closed and still got good service from the lady running the visitors center. The trails are well kept and the boardwalks are in good shape. Lots of places to sit down as well. The Iroquois buildings are cool and have historic memos for people to learn about them but it seemed a little out of place as nothing was going on and seemed vacant. Will go again for the hikes though.

Shawn Smith

Great place for schools interested to incorporate First Nations history (Longhouses, etc) to the youth. Lots of great hiking trails here also with some amazing art carvings along the routes as well. Enjoy!

Nataliia Ivashko

Beautiful, restful experience. Staggered arrival and departure times ensure easy social distancing. The carvings we found along the boardwalk were gorgeous. I would definitely recommend this park.

Tim Reynolds

What a beautiful place to visit! We went on a cold winter day with snow crunching under our feet and had a blast taking photos and videos. It was not very busy, or maybe it’s just so big everyone was spread out. Lots of easy paths to choose from, plus one challenging one we found heading from the lookout to the parking lot. Lots of rocks on that one path. Otherwise it was pretty easy trekking. Highly recommend for a date, family outing, or a solo journey.

Sukhinder Khepar

One of the well maintained conservation area. Book ahead on time and be on time. The boardwalk makes it quite easy to walk with stroller. On the way, you will find beautiful wooden cravings of wildlife. You can even go off the walkways, near the lake and dip you feet, sit for awhile. Lovely place for picnic. Definitely visit again. Only 2 hours are allowed per visit right now. Hope the covid situation get better and things open up more. The staff is quite helpful.

Corey Mugford

Nice lake and trails. Has good picnic spot area.

Amjad Afana

Great place for hiking, terrain varies with good hills giving for more of an adventure feel. Some peaks and openings giving for a scenic view

WhiteEagle

Visited in summer and was great for a family hike! We reserved our spots and there were trail marks everywhere that made it easy to follow. You have the option to select how many km trail you wish to take (it's all part of the Bruce-Niagara trail) which was good. The trees provided good shade from the sun making it cool over the bridge pass. Access to the Crawford lake itself is limited however and was closed when we visited. Saw some people bring their food and do mini picnics which was a great idea!

Ben Rahimiasl

Lovely short walk around the lake, plenty of interesting carvings and excellent board walks making accessibility to swampy areas which wouldn’t otherwise be. Saw the famous snapping turtles and were not bothered by flies or mosquitoes but both looked like they were breeding in the still water. Very interesting old buildings and heritage

Tahsin Hossain

Awesome place..was their this fall...great information about the natives...love the longhouses..and the the things inside them.its interesting to knowthe history and the lifestyle of the natives..the trail is interesting too with beautiful art pieces...overall a great experience

Greg Morris (Adventurous GM)

Coming here a few times a year for a pleasant hike. Easy trails, good for kids or seniors. Nice lake to walk around (no swimming). There is a reconstruction of a Native American village on site, several long houses, educational center. Now during COVID-19 times, you need to book your visit in advance online to manage park capacity. But you can do it on your phone literally five minutes before your arrival. Website also provides you information on how busy the park is so you can plan ahead.

Deeyosha

Great location for hikes with a variety of abilities. The Crawford lake hike is easy and scenic.

ily pali

Beautiful views. The walk is amazing and plenty of parking. Beware of humidity and mosquitoes depending on the time you visit.

Christopher Gomes

It's a great place to go for trail walks. They have 4-5 trails with lookout points.

Lubin Louis

Short trails but very technical. Loved the boardwalk. Sadly partially closed. Busy place and wood carvings were a fantastic treat

Bhargav Darji

Great place to come with kids. Shady trails, beautiful nature, museum.

Sabina Filipescu

This is a very interesting place to visit. I lead hired from Rattlesnake Park to Crawford Lake and then back again. Crawford Lake is open on weekends and you can eat your packed lunches at tables inside and even buy some hot chocolate or other hot drinks and snacks. The reconstruction of the 3 long houses are super cool, stepping back in time. Lots of trails to circle around in and one of the trails brings you to a lookout over the valley between different parts of the escarpment.

Fiaz Basaria

Awesome hiking spot! Most of the trail is accessible. Some spots would be difficult for a stroller but still manageable.

Wael Alborno

Amazing spot for hiking...trails are well labelled...great look out spot...beautiful trail around the lake????????

Mariana Matsiuk

Fantastic Conservation Area with a well maintained boardwalk around a small scenic lake. Rebuilt Native Canadian longhouses with demonstrations and explanations of Native Canadian life in the area. Visitors area with concession and washrooms.

Elissa Gervais

I really like the reservation process as it doesn't get too crowded and the 2 hrs is generally enough time to go through the trails. The trails are well kept and the scenery is beautiful. I went from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and there weren't any pesky insects at the time either.

Komal Kaneriya

Can't say enough great things about this place. The boardwalk and lake are just gorgeous. An easy 40 min stroll. And if you want more there are well kept side trails to the escarpment. There is even a connection to Rattlesnake point for avid hikers. As if that is not enough there is replica of an old Native village!

Marcial Cuesta

* Currently you MUST book ahead due to covid * I appreciated the pre-booking, it ensured that the trails were sparsely populated. Only encountered three other individuals. Trail I used was nice and wide, mostly dry despite the late spring snow. Trails could be better labeled, make sure you have a map or navigation tool if you are unfamiliar.

Daniel Price Williams

Picturesque scenery and trails! Worth a visit.

chad johnson

Great area to unwind and get back to nature ????????

Joe Savino

Beautiful lake!!! There is one path that is stroller and elderly friendly.

Stephen Leung

This is a great park. I go here every weekend and I go to Rattlesnake Point and back. It's approximately 9 Km of beautiful forest. It's my weekly doses of nature. ????

Tammy K

Crawford lake is an amazing place for a little day adventure. The boardwalk makes walking around the lake with a stroller so convenient. I cannot wait to see the lake in the spring/summer, and am looking forward to more trail adventures. The wood carvings/sculptures are absolutely stunning and a really great to the trail down to the lake.

Adrian Lee

Amazing hike, loved the history and the walk around the lake. You can also get rattlesnake views if you take the yellow path.

Nobarun Dey

Very beautiful park! Enjoyed my day immensely. ????????

ilana

This was one of the best hikes I did. There were sculptures within the trail itself. It was so amazing! I had so much fun!

Mylah Talavera

Reserved a time (mandatory right now) for a Sunday morning, and couldn’t rave about the experience more! Entrance and parking was seamless. Simply show your registration and your in. It was busy, but not overly crowded and plenty of space on the trails despite a seemingly full parking lot. Trails are well marked, and the paths are long enough to make a good hike out of it. Easy terrain for everyone to enjoy! Can also be shortened into smaller loops if you have kids in tow and need to hoof it back to your car. Seems like they also had washrooms readily available. If you can time your trip to visit after a fresh snow, this park is pure magic!

Ryan

Great views, great place for hiking, different trails from easy to medium. You will have to pay 7cad for admission.

Jacob Diflorio

This is a gorgeous spot and beautiful carvings. The hike around the lake is not too long but not too short when you with some.young children and there are spots to take a break. Honestly, the lake is beautiful...wow!!!

Damaris Cornielle

Beautiful forest. Amazed to see the process of the long house built. My daughter able to find Monarch Butterfly. And love all the crafting on the tracking path. I wish there is a place for the kids to play in the water and swim and that will be great fulfillment for them.

Mark B

Great one of a kind lake! Was a little disappointed overall as there was only a few lookouts and the trail was shorter than I had anticipated. I will still come back next summer or fall to see what it is like with some color and warmth. Definitely would check out a few of the other areas nearby if you make a drive over an hour to get here.

Anastassiya Anissimova

Loved it, beautiful trails to walk. The place is maintained very well. There are lot of rock, branches etc that you can walk on. Good place for families with small children too. Very interesting plave

Simran Garewal

The Elk sausages were the cherry on top for me, but the core of my enjoyment was having a private tour lead by Caitlin (sp?). Educational, inspiring, aromatic, and empowering to say the least. With all the information gathered, the learning continues. Would I go again! Most definitely....

Long Nguyen

Gorgeous nature with a fresh water lake and incredible history! It's great for every season and all levels for hiking trails. We can't wait to visit again in the winter time. See you soon!

Nathan Costa

Great conservation area. Good trails. Boardwalk for those who need easy walk.

Nadine Djokic

Great place to spend the day lot to see and do, many trials to explore, parkings a little hectic but I saw additional parking on the grass area there's a building with public washrooms and seating tables for resting be very careful walking the trails as there's lots of big boulders and rocks of different sizes saw a child trip on a rock and fall could have gotten hurt so caution Please.

Bharat Shah

Nice walking trail!

Ozlem Kuscu

First time going here and it was a warm, overcast day. Bring bug spray! The trails are beginner to intermediate. Lots of cover and shade with the highlight being the 1 km loop around the lake. Lots of cool carvings and lookout points along the way. We enjoyed it and will be back. Also, great signage and communication in regard to Covid.

Stepping back into time, whether a century or several centuries! Beautifully laid out and so peaceful and exquisitely beautiful. Easy to follow paths and the reconstructed long houses are excellent. We hadn't been for a couple of years and were impressed with various changes. Highly recommended.

A beautiful green belt park in Milton. The view point is an accessible and great vantage point to see the fall leaves descend on the trees. There are many trails which down the Crawford Lake, the edge of the cliffs and other longer hikes which can take up to a day. Some of the trails are rocky and can require attention and care when traversing. The cliff trail requires special attention, especially if one has kids, due to the proximity to the edge. The visitor centre and other features close and 4 pm and the parking is available till 7. One has to pay per person around $7.5. When the weather is great and not so windy, this is an excellent place to visit.

Beautiful scenery, easy hiking trails

Karthik Padmanabhan

Too busy for our family. However nice park overall

Erik Russell

Beautiful place - full of history and natural beauty. Take the boardwalk trip around Crawford Lake to partake in the peacefulness of the forest then explore the Iroquois long houses. Great day!

Ariel Cabalin

Beautiful spot. But the boardwalk needs some TLC so hopefully Conservation can fundraise for that. Also the wood carvings down the path are amazing!

Paul Dayton

Crawford lake conservation area has something for everyone; a short, easy but beautiful walk around Crawford lake itself along the wooden elevated walkways (perfect for families and people scared of getting dirty), the Escarpment hike-a bit of a more challenging hike along rocky paths and Limestone gaps with steep glorious views, and then there are even more trails deep into the woods. The further you get from the main parking area, the more wildlife you are likely to see, the closer areas are a bit noisy. The eager hiker can even walk to Rattlesnake point apparently, but we didn't get that far. For families and history buffs alike the Longhouses are an amazing treat. Sitting in the serenity of the cedar thatched building, listening to the wind, touching the furs and smelling the cedar, one can easily imagine life here 600 years ago. Really cool. There are tours daily too and the staff are incredibly knowledgeable. Two thumbs up!

Areeba Qureshi

Was very beautiful especially during fall season. Great wooden statues

Ed O'Shaughnessy

Very nice trails and well organized. Booking tool is ok and hope we can soon get more time to stay in the area. 2 hours goes by too quickly

Bubba Bri

Beautiful scenic lake with blue/green water, we took the family trail and it was easy to go through with a stroller. The iroquois village was interesting. The kids were well entertained. The washroom facilities are not good.

Ramey Ghabros

Best place to explore especially if you have little ones with you, the trails are cool, the wood craving are gorgeous & the over all experience really enjoyable. Great summer place to visit

Lilian Paredes

Fascinating look back in our history! Much to enjoy, and learn! A great way to spend a day! And lots in the area as well to keep you entertained...

Inna

We really enjoyed our time here. The wooden board walks were nice. Loved the trail around the lake. Would do it again.

Joe Park

Amazing place! Very well organized, trails are big and spacious. Also accessible with the stroller. Perfect for a whole day trip!

Sandra Dumitrescu

Great place to learn how indegineous people lived. Great trails and boardwalk around the lake.

Dan & Tracey Vickruck

Such a beautiful location!! The trail is also fairly easy and perfect for families!

Joseph Morcos

A beautiful hike around the lake and another trail through the woods to the escarpments. Highly recommended!!

.

As simple as it gets to buy your timed ticket online, enter the park, and enjoy a beautiful walk. The park has controlled access to maintain distancing, and trails are wide and open enough when you encounter other happy people (and their doggos!) there's loads of room for everyone.

shadi zehtabian

Family (and stroller) friendly, beautiful trails, lots of fun for the kids. Chickadees will eat right out of your hand. We’ll be back.

oalvares

Decent area to go for the day, hiking not too hard, nice viewpoints. Good for families.

Alisa S

Beautiful conservation, educational with history of living by our First Nations people - how they lived and homes they had, food they ate. Lovely boardwalk around the lake.

kelly Nault

It's a very nice place to visit and have enjoyable hikes!!

Tohid Yousefi Rezaii

Very nice place with historic value. Stroller friendly trails. Dogs allowed.

Kim Fayne

Absolutely gorgeous trail and very well maintained!

Jeremy Kroetsch

Beautiful trails. The longhouses were very impressive. Well informed staff on site to answer your questions about the indigenous people who originally settled here.

Over one and a half years ago, my wife, son, and I drove to the Crawford Lake Conservation in Milton. Although a long period of time has elapsed, I still have vivid memories of the stunning place that has a meromictic lake (A lack whose superficial and deep layers of water do not intermix,) alluring unpaved natural walking trails, board walkways, beautifully carved trees, and a few preserved dwellings with exhibits of lifestyle and household items of indigenous people who inhabited over 150 years ago. The exhilarating and exciting experience we had of walking around the lake and on the natural tracks, and learning about the lives of aboriginal dwellers a century and a half ago is unforgettable.

Yong F

Lots of different trails to choose from, and variety of difficulty is really nice. They had lots of signage so I never felt I might be lost. I also really loved the lookout point on the escarpment trail, the view is breathtaking!

glen mcdonald

Crawford lake is awesome for learning and hiking. The hiking paths are beautiful and will maintained with beautiful carvings along the way. The village has so many artifacts to see. The visitor center has a movie and usually a craft for the kids to do. They have different events to enjoy. Easy to get to. Highly recommended.

Jordan Lue

We were really surprised about how interesting the trails are here, we always thought that the First Nations village was the main attraction. WRONGO!!

This park has a 6 dollar per person entrance fee and reservations are mandatory. At the parking area is three traditional indigenous long houses that are free to enter. One is actually a small museum with artifacts and a big variety of hides, including deer, bear, beaver, rabbit, and a bunch that I do not know the origin of. There are a series of different trails including the lake trail that is mostly boardwalks. The other include a cliff edge type trail that is somewhat technical but has great views. The trails actually link up to the trails at rattlesnake point which is really neat. This park is better then rattlesnake point in my opinion.

John G

Scenic but rocky in the yellow trail. You might want to wear hiking shoes.

Isidra Araujo

Spectacular view, but the entry ticket price is a bit high and it should be purchased online. You have to buy it beforehand because there is no Internet coverage at the entrance of the park.

Tammy Hodges

We LOVE this park. The boardwalk is beautiful around the lake and the wooden sculptures is a very nice touch. Probably one of my toddlers favourite locations!

Vanessa Falcon

Beautiful park, walking on the boards around the lake it's quite nice The wooden sculptures are amazing!

Priyank Patel

Love this place,. My son said " I remember this place we went here on our school field trip

Jessica Couch

Wow! Crawford Lake was exciting! There is so much history on the land. The gathering place, exhibited a village which was occupied by the Iroquois. I was hoping to see the inside of the exhibits, due to COVID it was closed to the public. The trails ranged from easy to very moderate. I was pleasantly surprised by the uniqueness of the entire conservation area. The wooden sculptures and carved benches, the lookouts. I especially loved the wooden trail that surrounds the lake. The views were simply stunning. We are so blessed to be abundantly surrounded by so many gems in Ontario. I would definitely be back!

Angela Leal

Perfect place for a weekend walk to reset and recharge, lots of shade, the boardwalk is a nice photo spot, the lake views are breathtaking, from time to time it is possible to see turtles near the main water front lookout. Highly recommend as a weekend destination for families with kids or anyone who loves nature and calmness of the woods. The visit has to be booked few days in advance, since the place is loved by many. We use Halton Conservation Area yearly pass to enter for free.

Mikaila Desjardins

I really like that there's lots of rocks and roots on parts of the hiking trails, it makes it fun. The views are nice too. The trails are the perfect length, easy to navigate, and all diverse in terms of the nature scenery.

Jason Port

This is a must see with this very deep lake and the long house Indian village. I was there in the late 60s when it was privately owned. Our scuba club had several dives and even a ice dive and l was down 60feet. Lots to do with walking plus the Bruce trail is there.

Magued Hanna

Well maintained trails and easy to follow directions. Great sculptures through the first part of the Forest. Friendly knowledgeable staff. The long houses and all the artifacts inside were amazing to see. We have never seen anything like that. So we were impressed. I highly recommend it!

Aruna Ephraim

One of the best conservation park in Ontario...Filled with nature beauty...Recommended for all seasons

Nalini R

Lovely spot. We came too late in the day to enjoy all the sites, but had a very enjoyable picnic and relaxing walk around the lake.

Eric Barthel

Lovely place ,short track around the lake

Wayne Karges

As always. This is an amazing place for the whole family. Good place for a nice stroll and good views and an education about the First Nations People. See the beautiful meromictic lake.

Artur

Fun place for snowshoeing. Stay away from the lake trails to stay away from the crowds.

Jorge Albanez

Beautiful boardwalk around the lake. Stroller-friendly for the most part. A very interesting piece of local history.

Linda Lee

This is a place you don't want to miss. I can't believe, I discovered this place after 20 years in Toronto! Just under an hour from Toronto. Beautiful boardwalk trail around the lake, and has other trails including the Bruce trail. While the trails itself are quite absorbing and connected to nature, the reconstructed 600 year old iruaquan village long houses was what I was wowed by. Must see for Canadian history buffs! The restaurant was enticing, but, service wasn't great, long wait. You can spend a minimum of 2 hours here. Mobile signals are weak.

Cassandra Jewell (Jelly Jellyfish)

One of the gorgeous parks in Halton. Wonderful walkway built to encircle the lake and allow you to wander the forests. Cool wooden sculptures and rugged limestone views. A must visit in the area ????

Scott Travers

Following the longest trail to rattlesnake point and back is a good length walk down into the valley and up the escarpment - I recommend starting at the Crawford lake end so that the bigger of the two climbs is in the first half. Study walking shoes are worth while as the ground is uneven. Busy on weekends and holidays so don't expect escapism from people and hustle and bustle on these days. You have to pay to get in. I suggest a picnic at Buffalo Crag rather than Nassagaweya Canyon on this trail, but rattlesnake has more lookouts as well.

Fito H

A small lake with a boardwalk surrounding it making it totally accessible. There's a Iroquoian Village on site. A big educational bonus for kids. A must see!

Trevor Pedley

Really beautiful lake and a glince of how aboriginal people lived a few centuries ago

Sue Voigtlander

Decent hike with some nice views.

Roman

Great place to hike or stroll during winter and summer, my family did both.
