We offer you all the reviews of real people like you who are consuming the products and services of Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat (Zoo) in the area of Iroquois Falls (Canada).
At present this firm receives a rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 and that rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is almost the best, and it's based on a large number of feddbacks, so we may be pretty sure that the rating is quite credible. If many people have bothered to value when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to give feddbacks when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Zoo corresponds to the category of Wildlife refuge.
Thought it was a great way to see the bears and they seemed well taken care of. The pioneer village and snowmobile exhibit were an added bonus!
More than a zoo and it's something to see just how big the bears are
Bears
(Translated) We could see 2 bears out of 3 but they were very close it was great! Very nice move-in, there are toilets at the entrance and at the halfway point which is practical especially with young children. There is a snack so no need to bring a lunch. Nice family activity and the small village of yesteryear is also interesting.
Excellant day trip from Cameron beach campground with grandchild to see polar bears and pioneer village. Staff were great and facilities clean. We got to see four of five bears, one of which was swimming and eating. Finished with lunch at train station inn.
Well set up, well maintained, and informative. We lucked out with the bears being fed shortly after we arrived. We also visited the heritage village, which wasn't as well kept as the polar bear section but it was an interesting walk.
I love it. No more comments. Visting here is a must if you are around. We even enjoyed the boutique. The only down part was the old city was closed because of covid-19.
Great place for kids to explore
I have never seen a polar bear in my life before I came here. What an odd thing to stumble upon when spending a night in Cochrane. I loved every minute of it. The Polar bears (2/3) of them were out. and we got to see one get fed like a baby with a spoon. (safely!) the exhibits feel like an aquarium with air conditioned buildings to protect you from the 1000lb death machines. plus theres a little old-timey town to explore if polar bears aren't that cool to you. all for a great price. Must see if you're in town.
Neat habitat run by professionals. ????????
Was worth the drive to see Ganuk, Henry, and Inukshuk. The have an incredible habitat with a large lake . I was actually so surprised how bid the entire enclosure was . It's a hike to walk around it . The staff was very friendly and talked about the polar bears while feeding them .
Great to see polar bears up close!
Cool
Bears look nice and healthy!
Amazing and a lovely experience. I hate zoos but this place has a good focus on conservation and education, although the weird western village is a little out of place. The bears seemed happy and playful and there is a lot of space for them to run around and swim.
Was totally impressed with this. I went in with almost no expectations except to maybe catch a glimpse of a bear (which I did) but there is also a "heritage village" seemingly circa 1880-1935) with a bunch of exhibits and a really extensive collection of vintage snowmobiles yo look at. I feel like a lot of people could get something out of visiting.
Super cool experience we are gorillamoves.ca coming through on a trip to NB and stopped quickly... what a beautiful animal
Went during a hot Spring day so the Polar Bears were not very active. This is normal to prevent overheating. Did get a good glimpse of two of the bears. The heritage village was pretty cool as well. While there was nothing going on at the heritage village, it is possible to go in some of the buildings and walk around. If you want to see the bears more active, try to go during cooler weather. I found the gift shop reasonably priced and they also have a clearance section.
Amazing
Our visit to the Polar Bear Habitat turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Due in part to the playful antics of Henry the Polar Bear but also due to the service and attention provided by staff. A truly wonderful place!
twas a good trip to see de polar bears, polar bear big, funny.polar bear not drink coke, surprisid. polar bears big and snowy. needs monkeys,. monkeys funny.
The GF and I had an amazing experience at the Polar Bear Habitat. We got to see the polar bears sleeping, fighting, swimming, eating, and walking around. I was skeptical at first but my GF insisted we go and I had a great time. The grounds are well maintained, although lacking signage. You get a map on entry but it would be nice if there was signs along the way, both informative and directional. After the polar bears we checked out the Heritage Village. Another cool area of the park. Unfortunately, there weren't enough signs so it was hard to know what you were looking at. Overall, we had an AMAZING time and I would still give it a 5 star except for the young lady checking us in. She didn't greet us upon entry, she didn't give us any helpful information, and she generally wasn't pleasant. It seemed like she was annoyed having to process our payment and deal with our questions. She didn't even mention the heritage village or snowmobile museum, thankfully my GF knew about these things because she did the research. Apart from that, a very memorable experience.
It is a rare opportunity to see these majestic animals. They have plenty of room. The antique snowmobile museum is a must see as well. A must visit in the Cochrane/Timmins area.
Such a surreal experience where you can be around 3 polar bears and getting to learn about them. The best part is that the staff here, caring for the animals are really really passionate about them and try their best to provide the animals a safe space which is close to wilderness. Can't recommend enough the "experiences" which they offer. These gives you more chance to experience all these bears, up close and personally. Our host was Nicole, who was the best. She ensured we had a nice time learning about the bears, Henry, Ganuk and Inukshuk. Overall, we had such a great time visiting this place and highly highly recommend everyone to visit this place. We are absolutely sure that this won't be our last trip here.
Very cool information center polar bear exhibits with three polar bears also an old-style Canadian Village and snowmobile Museum. The stop is a must do especially if you have children
It was an amazing experience. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful.
Excellent staff and fun experience to watch bears so close and to learn about them.
i like the polar bears but they looked so sad ine3 paced back n forth back and forth and was clearly uncomfortable ans unhappy
Good place to bring your children
Gorgeous exhibits and amazing polar bears that are friendly and full of personality. Def worth the money.
That was fun! Old town is great! Polar bear was active! Snowmobile museum is very nice!
absolutley amazing! so much fun
I'm a little biased because I work here, but I have to say that simply seeing these majestic bears in comfortably large enclosures, is the most therapeutic experience I've had in a long time.
Great outing for the whole family! The resident bears are very amusing to watch play. During the summer months, there's a small diner. Winter time, they hold a nice Christmas event with sledding. Enjoyable to wall the grounds with the family.
What an amazing place. They do such incredible work and you can see how much they care for these bears. Its nice to see the bears living freely and happily in their large enclosures. Remember this isnt a zoo and your not guaranteed up close experiences as the bears do and go as they please. Would love to come back again someday.
For the Bears. The enclosures are large and it's clear that there is a LOT of care given to maintaining a healthy life for the bears. For guests. Be prepared that you may not see much of the bears.. when I visited it was a hot day. And they we're hanging around inside their hides. Though I still got to see them.
Friendly staff and very clean facility. We were lucky to see all 3 polar bears in residence. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of their enclosures and saw one bear having a swim in the lake in his enclosure. Great souvenir store with lots of quality gifts. We're very pleasantly surprised that they had dog crates available in their air conditioned main building for visitors to leave their dogs, for no extra charge. This was a huge bonus for us, as we normally have to visit places in shifts, while one person stays outside with the dog.
Amazing experience to see these animals up close. The staff are very knowledgeable and there is a lot of information on polar bears and it was a fun experience learning about them. It is unfortunate that humans are causing such irreversible damage to the planet and driving species like these to extinction. Hopefully with the work the habitat does we can find better and more efficient ways to help the polar bear populations to thrive.
Deffanilty a must see if you're in the area.
Beautiful polar bears...great gift shop.
Got see them feed the bears
It was a beautiful experience to see the polar bears. Special thanks to staffs there who are super friendly and nice..
Fun place to go on a day off
Just WOW!!!
Awesome place!
Great experience!! The vets that work there are very professional and knowledgeable
Wonderful n amazing a must see for everyone
The facility was well developed and upgraded
Amazing to see without big crowds. Very informative staff.
Beautiful place with friendly staff. Activities of bear depends on your luck.
Friendly staff. Visited the polar bear habitat and the snow machine museum on Aug 9/21. Covid protocols in place. It was really hot and the bears were not active, although people saw some. The heritage village was open to walk through - nice addition. We camped on the grounds using the combo entry and camp price - less than $40 for two seniors. The camp ground is not serviced, but water and dump station is available. The snow machine museum must have 50+ models of all size and vintage. We could hear some highway traffic at night, but it was not a disturbance.
It's nice to see polar bears so close. My children were almost disappointed at first to see only 1 bear. With the help of staff, we eventually got to see all bears. It would be great to see more polar bears in the habitat since it's the only animal here.
We love the polar bear habitat! This visit was especially great!
nice enclosure
Friendly Staff
I travelled all the way to timmins just to see the polar bear. There are 3 in total. Unfortunately- was injured. This is a small facility. There is ample place for the polar bear to roam around and swim. We saw the incharge feeding the bears some snack - plums and some grapes. The bear responded to its name - Henry. It was pretty active. The other one inkshuk was very small. The entry price is expensive 16$ for that facility but they said it for the polar bears so were ok with it. There is a gift shop attached to the facility too. The village or the recreation area was close due to covid. Some showing were also closed. Children will enjoy seeing the bears. There is also one more museum attached to the habitat. It’s small but informative.
I love this place, the people are fantastic and the polar bears are beautiful! Can't wait to do it again in the summer and swim with the bears
High price for not seeing polar bears except in the far reaches of their wandering pens. They aren't doing feeding times anymore so don't count on seeing the bears by the glass and swimming wall, which is why we went. Add to that the broken tech in the hands on section. Too much money.
Lots of things to see not just polar bears. Great history of the area and snow machine's
Welcomed by Eddy the polar bear. Very neat place. I was pleased to hear some background on the bears, where they came from & how they're taken care of. Nice experience.
Really neat place to spend a half day. We saw all three bears. The little village is great and the snowmobile museum was interesting.
The Polar Bear Habitat is one of the best places to visit in Cochrane. Not only can you learn more about the life of polar bears, but if you're lucky, you can even see them through the fence.
Great place to visit...spacious enclosures for the bears are well kept and clean. The added attraction of the pioneer village and the snowmobile museum really add to the value of the visit
Cool place
I enjoy the polar bears!
Lots of media hype. Long drive and high prices for little actual results. Bring back the schedules of feed times which allow for us to see the polar bears at the swim area or lower the prices. Plus fix the broken tech in the hands on area.
Amazing experience watching the polar bears from up close. The experience watching the polar bear just across a glass partition was fantastic!!
beautiful site, seeing all 3 bears was amazing! The heritage village was really something great to see too! Highly recommend a stop here!!
Unfortunately, we were there at a time when the bears would not come out of their den. Interesting facility.
Get really close! The bears have a pretty large enclosure that includes a lake.
Was great with a lot of history, the polar bears were out and about, good little jungle gym for the kids and lots of cool old snowmobiles
What an amazing adventure! We were fortunate to see two polar bears. Poor guys...in 27⁰C... The Heritage Village was a great experience as well. To see so many artifacts in one place is truly amazing. Every building you enter you expect to be greeted by the locals. The whole experience is a travel back in time, that's for sure. Last, buy not least, the staff is extremely helpful and very accommodating. Definitely recommend the place for anybody that passes thru the area. NO PETS ARE ALLOWED IN THE HABITAT, but crates are provided at entrance
Polar bears, Heritage village and snowmobile museum. Well maintained , well organized facility . Customer service is friendly and professional
This place is amazing! I've never been so close to a polar bear.. beautiful animals ❤♥
Enjoyed seeing the Polar Bears in real life. We arrived just in time and watched them being fed. A bit disappointed that they didn't go for a swim, would've loved to see that! All in all, an entertaining experience ????❄️ Thank you!
Amazing experience. Saw the bears being fed and playing with enrichment toys. All the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and answered all our questions. Cute little village with antiques as well. Learned a lot! Worth the drive.
Love polar bears .
Polar bears were amazing!
An amazing experience for all ages!!
Super friendly people. Camping on site too!
Great place to see the polar bears up close.
OMG all the staff at this place are bang on, they know so much about the polar bears and are right there to answer any question anytime. Loved it saw the bears and had a great time.
I make it a point to visit every time I come North. Watching the bears eat is all sorts of amazing and the snowmobile museum is really neat.
The staff were friendly and there was plenty of parking for a pickup truck and travel trailer
Love the tour, love the bears. Service was good along with all the informational boards. Very interesting. Found the gift store to be expensive.
POLAR BEAAAAARS!!!!!! THEY WERE SWIMMING AND EATING AND WERE BIG AND WHITE AND THEY LOOKED CUTE AND I LEARNED ABOUT POLAR BEARS AND NATURE!!!!
(Translated) Drinks Montarral (Original) Pije Montarral
The best part was when I got to meet one of the bear keepers and she answered a lot of questions. I learned so much! BTW, they are open all year!
Amazing experience, loved the trip. Nicole, the bear keeper was awesome. Her passion for the bears is incredible!
It's amazing .I enjoyed a lot and I'll come back soon
Polar Bears are awesome... Nuf said...
Amazing! ❤
Great place to see polar bears nice friendly staff.
The Cochrane Polar Bear Habitat is an interesting place to visit. There are three male polar bears as of summer 2017. As other visitors mentioned, two of the bears showed erratic behavior while the other one seemed to be acting normally. However, these animals are not mistreated. I have visited other zoos, including Quebec's Zoo sauvage de Saint-Félicien where one of the polar bears was actually born, and this is the biggest and most beautiful polar bear habitat I have seen in any zoo. The keeper clearly cared about the animals as well and took a lot of time to explain the bears' behaviors. In addition to the polar bear habitat, there are also a snow mobile museum and a little town that represents life in Cochrane in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
Fun place to go with the family to checkout the bears. In the summer they aren't very active but they are still out wandering around and eating things. There's a small pioneer village and many other things to do there too.
We done 2 times in 2 yrs, drove all the way from toronto, kids enjoy this place. Friendly and courteous staff. Do NOT miss the gift store some amazing stuff to buy and very reasonable price.
Really neat and informative! Must see!
You must see if you like polar bears.
Was nice but wasn't much to see
A must see if in the area. These are amazing creatures. While there you can check out the snowmobile museum also as a bonus!
Loved it. Great for families to visit
The bear habitats were very large and the bears actually have access to a big wooded area and pond. So worthwhile supporting. Unfortunately, we were there near closing but they have information sessions near noon which would have been very interesting. Short 8 minute film. This could be so much better. I hope they do better film in future. I have so many questions and do many interesting things that they could tell you about bears. The ticket staff were very friendly and answered some of my questions bas they were closing up which was very kind. So go early to get benefit of the presentation. My feedback is I hope they invest in a more informative film in future and maybe more information signs.....but of course, they are feeding 3 bears at $60 a day each.
The Polar bears are treated so well!
I was performing at the Cochrane winter Carnival and divided to stop here before leaving. It was my first time seeing polar bears. It was super cool. The price of admission is super cheap, the staff is attentive and kind, the gift shop is inexpensive, and the polar bears seem very happy and well cared for.
The best, should be 5 times the size.
❄Old snowmobiles and polar bears = perfect examples of the north ????
We got some wonderful views of the Polar Bears. unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to spend there, we only could spend about 45 minutes before we had to travel on, so we didn't see the polar bears swim. However, it was still worth the visit.
We loved every minute here... meeting the bears the staff. Had to drag my wife away in the end she loves those bears so much! Kids raided the gift shop!
We done 2 times in 2 yrs, drove all the way from toronto, kids enjoy this place. Friendly and courteous staff. Do NOT miss the gift store some amazing stuff to buy and very reasonable price.
Amazing facility and very beautiful bears. I'm so happy that a place like this is set up for not only conservation but also researching on their lifestyle and diets. We must protect these magnificent ambassadors of the North
Very up close and intimate (or at least as intimate as one can safely get) with the polar bears without the Toronto Zoo crowds. Worth stopping by or even the trip from Timmins or elsewhere nearby. I really enjoyed it.
(Translated) Very nice museum (Original) Très beau musée
The bears are huge! I would try it again in the summer as the village was closed.
Awesome to see 3 polar bears at once. All were outside and very chill. Inukshuk even had a dip in the pool while we were there. The guide was very clear that whatever the bears want to do, they can do. So if the polar bears want to hang around inside all day, that's what they want to do. So seeing live bears is not guaranteed. Worth the trip!
Amazing must see place! Expensive but worth it for all ages
Felt in love with this town and special with this habitat. In this place you can really feel and be very close the polar beers, such a beautiful animal. They have a big space to wander with a lake in the middle. Prices are affordable, great to bring kids, amazing souvenirs. The heritage village is just next to it. I would come back in winter time!
Small place but still fun for young kids.
Absolute must visit! It’s amazing how close you can get to these beautiful creatures and the important information about the polar bears future in general. We spent a good three hours here ????????
Staff are friendly and the facility is clean.
Fantastic place for a great price! A good little walk and wander for a grownup, families can take in interactive exhibits and play at the multi level playground. Informative, fun, and unique. It was very well marked to get to, but of a rough road but that’s not their fault. Ample parking, information at the beginning, and free range of the habitat viewing areas and historical village inside. Gift shop with a wide variety of items including other local finery like maple treats and Avro Arrow memorabilia. The snowmobile museum is a quick add on if you aren’t familiar with them, check out the George Barris (Mr. Batmobile) in the back!
Was a cool place to check out
This place should be on everyone's bucket list. It's just a lifetime experience. It was awesome to see the Polar Bears up close in a very good habitat. The place is enormous and the bears are well treated. There should be more information to people in general on what a great work the people at the Polar Bear Habitat do.
Very nice place to visit
Great experience watching polar bears having fun.
Great experience! Fantastic bears. Crate provided for our dog. Gift shop very reasonably priced. Only disappointment was that the human pool was closed due to pandemic. I’ll just have to come back- It’s worth it!
Amazing! Up close and personal with the bears!
Awesome visit only issue was outside walking was next to impossible one big skating rink due to melt. I would recommend to all if you are visiting the area.
So cool. The bears look very healthy. Large space for them. Cool little walk through an old trappers town. Cost is very reasonable.
What an amazing experience! The polar bears were gorgeous and the trainers were very informative
This place is amazing! I've never been so close to a polar bear.. beautiful animals ❤♥
Great place friendly staff
Amazing place
The bears and snowmobiles
Amazing to see these animals up close.
Right from when we walked in we were impressed. A warm, welcoming building, super friendly and helpful staff, and of course stunning polar bears! We spent about an hour and a half strolling the areas, watching the bears and learning from the interactive exhibits. This is a gem for Ontario! Well worth the drive, and would happily go back anytime. Loved the whole experience!
Small but really fun to be close and waych the hand feeding.
This is an amazing jewel for Cochrane! So excited when visitors are introduced to this place. Extremely fortunate to have such an amazing place. See you today as we have a special 7 year old to share this experience with. Love how polar bears are part of Cochrane...and not the only cool thing to do! I have lived in boring cities and think Cochrane is clearly the best spot in Ontario! Well Done to all who made this happen! Thankyou to all residents for your kindness and dedication to this community!
To many indians
Great place. Polar bears up close!
I'd have to take these stars off cause I cannot give a rating I have not bee. Inside even though I live near these curious bears but I walk my 2 dogs near there quite a bit and the fence by the swing set omg I got excited for the 1at time i can see foot steps they're 3 new bears I heard to my knowledge. The fence outside is well it's crazy how they went their I sit right there c just missed the bears anyone been?? I want to hear ur experiance
This place is very informative about Polar bears and has an amazing program for the preservation of the species.
Was very disappointed with one staff member ...I saw one of the polar bears in an enclosure acting like it was stressed...asked the girl in one of the carts that feeds the bears what was wrong...her comment was sharp and uncalled for....her response was " there is NOTHING wrong with it...it's not broken!!!!....I was going to confront her about her snotty response but my boyfriend said to let it go....so I did....
We had a wonderful experience visiting the habitat today. We are especially grateful to one of the workers there, a young lady from Australia, who took the time to answer our questions. It was heart warming to see her emotion when talking about the bears, many many thanks.
Such a great day out and so interesting to speak to the staff. They knew about Hamish the polar bear at Kinghussie Wild life park in Aviemore Scotland. Keep up the good work you do.
Great place
Great staff and great vintage sleds.
Great visit with the family here in March. 3 bears were there. We got to see them all in there own enclosures. They were playing, sleeping, swimming and eating at various times during our visit. Informative talk at the Meet the Bear Keeper session. Looking forward to returning in the summer to check out the heritage village too.
A "must visit" for everyone
I had the pleasure of visiting this Sunday and I really enjoyed my time there. The animals are magnificent, and all the people who worked there were very helpful and caring. I had a great time and I'll be going back
(Translated) Nice place! We only saw one bear but the old town and the skidoo museum are really interesting! (Original) Bel endroit! Nous n'avons vu qu'un seul ours mais le village d'antan et le musée de skidoo sont vraiment intéressants !
This is a must see place for people go around for new adventures. It is a great place arranged beautifully and tastefully. They have provided details of how to go around the park and view different view points without missing any. Even in the displays details are given regarding the locations , habits and habitats of the inhabitants of the park. The facilities for the inmates are good and you can view them in different phases of their life. Feeding time is quite interesting and you can view the process if and when you are available there. It is a rare opportunity and you should not miss it. The staff working there are simply superb and are very helpful to the public. I would request everyone to visit the place and help in the upkeep of the place.
Amazing seeing the polar bears
Lots of things to see not just polar bears. Great history of the area and snow machine's
Incredibly lucky to see all five bears! The staff are amazingly nice and knowledgeable. Also all proceeds from the gift shop go to the bears.
Took a day trip out on a Sunday and had a fantastic time
What an amazing experience!! Loved it and will probably go back sometime Impressive animals and work done by the people there If you haven’t visited or are around Cochrane area, you should
Absolutely amazing spot. Staff even offered to entertain our pup while we went to see the bears so he didnt sit in the car. Beautiful enclosures for their beautiful bears. All the bears are treated exceptionally well in this habitat.
Loved visiting! Highly recommended. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The polar bears were amazing!
It was a terrific day out! Very relaxed and interesting! Also included is a snowmobile museum that took me down memory lane. The gift shop was decent as well. I will be bringing the grandkids the next time!
Great for a day out with the children and grandchildren. Watching the three bears in their different habitats was great. Also doing the walk in the village was great to see life in the past. It is not a real long walk and has lots of stops to rest while browsing the different attractions. At the end it is nice to stop at the restaurant for a cold drink and a quick bite. A good time was had by all.
The only one of its kind in the world. A must visit.
The Polar Bear experience and the Heritage Village are entertaining for the whole family. The train ride has no shocks and is very hard on your back. The food at Nanook's Snack Shack is nondescript and took more than a half hour to serve children who were hangry.
Fantastic swim with the polar bears, other side of ballistic glass. But great selfie shot
Nice place very nice people working there
Amazing experience. Came all the way from Peterborough to go camping up in hornpayne and coming home we stopped at the polar bears. It was amazing! Staff were amazing we came through the doors and one of the staff members rushed us up to see one of the polar bears because he was out of the cage! Couldn’t have asked for a better experience and of course you can’t forget about the snowmobile exhibit! If your ever up there you definitely need to check out the polar bears and to see the snowmobiles!
Amazing....staff were outstanding and the Polar Bear's were exceptional. The staff were professional and went out of their way to make our visit better.
Relaxing place watching bears and lots of other stuff to do ...
Have been there 4 times...love watching the polar bears
Excellent. Polar bears were not very active but it was quite humid.
Excellent experience. SAS ablento see up close three of the bears. The bear keeper was very knowledgeable about this subject. Well worth the visit. Will go back myself.
Fantastic experience. To bad some buildings are closed because of covid. We will return again after covid closer is over.
What a great place to take yourself and the family, swim a lost with the polar bear ( glass between you and them ) heritage village, and the staff so knowledge to m talk to . We even go to see our local polar bear cub Hamish at the wild life park in the Aviemore Scotland
Lots of history (in the pioneer village) and things to see at the habitat. Little playground and a train that drives around place. Kids liked it. Got lucky and saw the polar bear Inukshuk being fed. Staff was very friendly. There also a snack shack if you need to get something to eat or drink.
Lots to see. Room for the kids to run around
Awesome experience ! The snowmobile museum was great.
It would have been better if the bears would have cooperated in showing them selves.other than that it was very good
Laid back atmosphere
I stop by here every year, a must do in the north! Very cool I picked up a beautiful art piece painted by one of the bears! Great price! Thank-you Ganuk! It's a master piece!
Great place to see polar bears. And they arent locked in tiny cages. THIS PLACE IS NOT A ZOO.
Great
Amazing to visit
Wish had more time to go thru facility...
Polar bear are sad and are not well in their cages. They need real nature and their ice.
What a great place to go for the day and the staff is super friendly.
Excellent!
It was amazing to see these magnificent creatures up close.
The place was not open when we reached there. Neither it was updated in google, nor did the attended the phone while we called. Even the automated calling assiatant dint mention closing.
It was a nice visit. After seeing these majestic animals, We visited the heritage buildings and snowmobile museum.
Love this place for the grandkids weve been a few times and will definiy be goi g back i recomend it to anyone a great expeience for young and old
A must stop/see/stay! I only wish we had more time to visit! One of the best pioneer villages I’ve ever seen, very thoughtful and cute. The snowmobile museum is SO COOL! And the BEARS!!! WOW!! This is a great weekend trip or pit stop with the kids to burn so energy or just to go by yourself. They are providing a necessary sanctuary while providing once in a lifetime experiences for visitors! One of the high lights of our cross-Canada trip for sure! The gift shop is phenomenal as well so be sure to support :)
You will not believe the size of the polar bears. Their paws are the size of soccer balls The sanctuary where the bears is beautiful. You wont be disappointed.
I'm torn on this review I felt as if the handlers were acting as if they were some type of tiger king . The handler we hand an interaction with was rubbing her bum on the fence in some type of attempt to get the bear to respond . We felt uncomfortable . The bears however seem to be happy and healthy
Beautiful animals and a team of staff who are clearly very passionate about them
Nice
Great place !
Everyone needs to experience this. Seeing Polar bears up close....what's there to say. You can even swim with them.
Great value at $16 for an adult. The bears were easy to spot in the lake and delighted us by coming into the closer areas of their environment so we could get a good look. The staff were helpful and well informed. The range of activities would suit most people.
It was great to see all 5 of the Polar Bears. Unfortunately the train was broken and the swim with the polar bears pool was closed, this was on a Saturday and Sunday and repairs/chemical adjustment was not being done until the following Monday after we had to leave.
I traveled to the Habitat from North Bay and wasn't disappointed, even on a very rainy day. I saw two bears. One was being fed and the employee shared her extensive knowledge (while standing in the rain!). The other bear was playing. The Habitat is primarily a research facility which some visitors should remember and the bears have room to wander around, swim, and enjoy the snow in the winter. They also are fed enough food which polar bears in some places in the wild are not finding. I learned a lot about polar bears, the current concerns about bears in the wild, and the importance of the research. My thanks to all the staff.
Update on previous review. Since we did not see bears due to heat, they did give a refund.
Very cool experience
The polar bears are worth seeing
PETA should shut this roadside zoo down - Covering a polar bear in paint is appalling - Forcing an endangered species to “paint” is beyond the pale. A species who should be roaming over an enormous Arctic territory and swimming for miles in the vast ocean is wholly unsuited to confinement. Captive polar bears spend much of the day pacing, walking in tight circles, swaying or rolling their heads, and showing other signs of psychological distress Please stop this animal abuse!!!
We saw all 3 gents
Been here twice and had a wonderful visit both times! Very fun outing for family and friends! Easy ride in! Great educational material and very well kept habitat! The bears are an absolute delight!!!
What an experiance! Swimming eye to eye with a polarbear. something you see absolutely nowhere! And the heritage village is a nice ending to it! Definately a must see!
Good place to see the polar bears in its natural habitat. Only habitat in the world that is dedicated to polar bears. They have a good sovinier shop. This place also hosts a museum for snow mobiles. Located close to Cochrane railway station.
Never went, my dad told me he was going up to inspect it.
Wow. What an experience ! I went on December 24, was able to see a feeding. You can tell the staff love what they do. The bears are loved and are living a good life. There's a bunch of interactive games for the kids and family. There's a tank to see under water. Stellar price too !
Fantastic place. Learned so much about the majestic polar bear and got the chance to see them in person. The staff here are so dedicated and we were quite impressed with everything.
Enjoyed our visit very much. The polar bears are very magnificent animals. A very good experience.
Great place to visit and spend a day with the polar bears.
Fantastic great place to see the polar bears, snowmobile musium and a vintage village of Cochrane. A must see!!!!!
Wonderful to see the three Bears wander around, catching their food out of a tree, having to open the pail and eat there are two types of fish, moose meat and some kind of fruit which is what consists of each of their meals. They are well taken care of, have a huge huge Lake to swim in and lots of grassy areas to roam around. Definitely recommend visiting here at least once if not more!
Excellent facility well planned a must see
Where can you see 5 polar bears in the winter and be within a couple of feet of them. Really cool.
Extremely rude staff, 40 minutes before close, was watching a video and reading about the history of the trains in the city. Staff member came in, killed the TV, killed the lights, and stood outside the door waiting for me to leave. Given 2 stars instead of 1 only because the animals seem well kept and the displays were all educational and well laid out. For the sake of the bears, I would hope that they find some better staff.
A wonderful experience seeing these polar beauties. They looked so large and powerful! The "polar bear talk" by an attendant was most informative and insightful.
This is an incredible place and the fellow at the front desk so was nice and knowledgeable. Saw all of the polar bears and took amazing pictures. We'll be back in the winter. Great time.
Beautiful set up... we only saw one bear but given the high temperature outside I can't blame the bears for not wanting to be outside.. they have a lovely enclosure
Three Polar Bears in three areas. Saw them being fed frozen watermelon. There is also a Snowmobile Museum and A heritage village all in one location for one price. Can spend time as its a large facility. Playarea for kids. Picnic tables washrooms. Camping facilities available too.
My granddaughter was 4 years old then & we both loved it ????????
Wonderful to see the polar bears for my first time, Henry was swimming, it was great :))
Very awesome to see these huge bears up close and the snowmobile museum was cool to see as well as a little fun in the heritage village - which wasn't open when we were there but looked promising ????
We visited the polar bears first thing in the morning and all 3 were out and about, it was such a delight to see them up close!!! The kids and I are looking forward to going back again ❤️
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the polar bears it was a Fantastic experience...i was so happy when the young lady told me all proceeds for the gift shop merch...100% goes towards the care of the bears...and Henry was joy to watch :)
....polar bears....great trip by sled as one of our many destinations
Did a 4 hour drive to show up to a closed facility. Not happy. Very disappointed
Staff were very helpful. Bears are burrowed from other zoo's. It was nice to see one bear with large forested space with access to the lake instead of pools. Each bear lives alone.
Wonderful place...loved it
Informational but didn't see the bears
Wonderful, interesting & educational
Amazing experience, loved the trip. Nicole, the bear keeper was awesome. Her passion for the bears is incredible!
Everyone should see this place and learn first hand what a great spieces the polar Bear are and what we need to do to help save them
Great place to visit!
A very nice place to see the polar bears up front and close. Luckily we were able to see all three the facility has. Also the shop has good stuff that is not overly priced as many other souvenir shops are. The trail around the park where there r old replicas of the town r also nice to visit. Gives u the important role the town played in trade!
Amazing experience with incredible staff! We had a great chat with one of the keeper during our visit. She was talking about all the research the habitat was doing and what was the situation about polar bears in the world. We also had the chance to see the 3 polar bears Inukshuk, Ganook and Henry. It is not a zoo so they can't guarantee you'll see them all.
See polar bears up close great staff . Interesting information
The signs to get there were not the best, road in is very rough. The layout is well done, the village is nicely put together. Sadly we were there in the rain and didn't see any bears.
Awesome!!
Loved the polar bears
