good for short trail walk awesome after job with your companion almost 3km loops many loops actually all are with different walking distance longest one is Rockingham Trail must visit once pond add it's beauty to the park open throughout the day except 10pm to 5am if you go through loops then it's good otherwise you will meet residential area ???? rest are visible in my photos one plus point is it is good with bicycle also (*not motor driven) mostly maple trees and christmas tree that means mostly it will look green i guess there are streams in between all trails, benches with garbage bin aside would make it possible "to eat in nature" overall it's a good time spend...!!
Love these trails! Nice walking area, good for a picnic on the benches by the pond.
Such a magical spot.
Pond water looks like it could use some TLC but it's a beautiful place to sit down and relax and kick it with some ducks
nice place for kids , at the entrance there is a pound full of ducks
Beautiful scenery and history behind the cottage and heart shaped pond❤
Beautiful escape from the busy city. Lots if old trees and cute squirrels.
It's a pretty great spot for an afternoon stroll, it's well maintained and the trails make for easy walking. It can get very busy though and the small lot fills up fairly quickly. The entrance off Kent Street can be a bit daunting as its a steep grade and quite narrow. The reason i'm only giving three stars is because, while it's a great place to walk the pets, the off leash loop is quite small and the trails are heavily trafficked.
Great park for a dog walk on a sunny day as it has a lot of shade but beware of the mosquitoes and bugs. The off leash area is good for puppers. The heart shaped pond has fish ducks and many natural beauties to admire
Lots of ducks and a few benches and picnic tables. Cute place!
A lovely walk to take, you don't ever completely escape the sounds of the city, but you will be completely surrounded by wonderful trees. The canopy is dense enough that the park always has damp places and watery leaves. There are ALWAYS mosquitoes, so if they love you the way they love me, bring your preferred repellent. I use a couple dabs of clove oil here and there and it staves off most of the swarm. The pond is a pretty shape, it's not for playing in, unless you're a duck.
Great little hiking park in the middle of the city. Geocaches and painted rocks to find.
What a wonderful spot and a great day for a visit to the heart shaped pond!
It is very cool and there are wonderful trees.
Great place for a walk anytime of day ! Amazing scenery
Such a beautiful spot. Relaxing.. beautiful trees.
Flat gravel walking paths, lots of different trails. Reminds me of point pleasant park a bit. Famous for its heart shaped pond which always has ducks.
Another hordes Jem in Nova Scotia
Nice easy walking trail + heart shaped pond.
Great spot on the Bedford Highway where you can literally get lost into nature with hemlock, pine, spruce and many more
I came here 3 days after a snow storm. Most of the trails were clear of snow and ice... though there was still some. I really enjoyed being in the nature here... each trail seems to be maintained. There is wildlife like ducks and other birds as well as squirrels that I saw. Got some great photos, and the fresh air was perfectly what I needed after a drab winter.
One of the best parks in Halifax to have a Good walk. It has numerous Trails. The love shaped pond and also the ducks in it stands special attraction.
Such a great park for hiking, spending some time with kids or family in a jungle feeling area. It has a parking lot, there are few places to sit or have a rest there. Please wear long sleeve shirts and pants because of mosquitoes there, carry a stick as recommended there because you might seen coyote over there. There chipmunks there and my explore many more wild animals suck as deers and squirrels. The location of the park is good on Bedford Highway, and there are a walking way towards the backyard of Wentworth park elementary school. I have enjoyed there, my kids have enjoyed too. I'm going to share some photos with you guys of this beautiful park, please watch them and press thumb up (like) on my photos in order to be able to continue sharing beautiful reviews and photos with you guys. Thank you.
Beautiful September day on the trails.
Walked these trails every season and most days for 30 plus years. Low volume and pleasant strolls watching the seasons and children walking the trails change through generations.
Nice little off leash park
Nice trials!
Gorgeous walking trails with options for length.
Beautiful park with a km long off leash trail for dogs. The trail can get icy during Jan thru April so spikes are highly recommended.
I like this spot and really enjoyed the nature here. The trail was not very long but good enough for small hiking. It was my first time there and I was expecting to see more natural views. All the scenes were the same but still had a good time. Was super busy when we got there... seems like it’s a super popular place for everyone. This park is not very far from my home so probably will go back sometimes!
Gorgeous park!! There are maps everywhere so you don’t get lost. It’s dog friendly with a beautiful heart shaped pond at one of the entrances.
You can spend 2-3hours, Good place, suitable for jogging
Absolutley beautiful, full.of history and a great place to walk and run.
Great Park. It's full of hills. There's an off leash section. Heart shaped pond. Gold fish. Was a hidden gem for quite a while. It's getting more and more popular
A very enjoyable walk/hike for pets, kids and adults. There are plenty of hills but also different trail options depending on your preference. On and off-leash areas are marked (although most dogs are off leash throughout) and there are a few benches near the parking lot by the pond. Parking is limited so arrive early and if headed there in the winter, I'd suggest packing a pair of crampons as the hills can be very icy.
Nice little trail. Beautiful colors and found Some sweet fungi which is apparently very rare.. one thing I found that not pleasing is the crushed rock they put on the trail. Pretty sharp for dogs feet. You can tell it was hurting his feet
It is my favorite. also near to my house ????. alot of trails and well marked. There is a heart shape pond. it takes around 1 hour to explore all trails.
One of the best park, Lot's of trails in the these park that are totally amazing for biking, running and walks or there's beautiful heart shaped pond if you wanna sit and relax. Lot's of ducks and painted stones near the pond that is so positive and warming. Also there's a leash free trail for pets. But I do like it for biking because of amazing incline and decline that gives amazing kick.
Beautiful walking trails with lots of species of birds and few species of mammals.
Beautiful trail, clean and take well taken care of everytime I visit! ... For more pictures of Halifax/Nova Scotia follow @horizoneyephotography on Instagram and Facebook!
i actually love it here but i wish it wasn’t as busy
The heart shaped pond sounds like a great place to visit, it was also recently renovated. However the waterfowl have really degraded the water quality, giving the pod a really gross vibe. The trails are top notch, well maintained with lots of elevation.
Looks very beautiful but will have to go back because it was nearing dusk but did see the heartshaped pond. It was drying up though.
Nice trails, some black ice and roots on weekend in Jan. as you get down to ravine trail. Lots of people walking dogs. Mostly pea gravel trail hiking up at first and into a forest with nice loop trails. April 2021: Perfect for a one hour loop on the blue (Take school trail up to blue and then red trail (off leash section). I like to loop back through on the yellow trail which has nice sunlight and small evergreens. Very quiet on weekdays, just birds and squirrels chirping. Lovely for spring hiking in the city, dry trails. Benches at a few points at trail intersections. Only garbage can is at entrance and park was very clean.
A great spot to take a walk with you dog!
Always a lovely place to walk.
The park is lovely. Just wished the pond was cleaner.
Hemlock Ravine offers a variety of travels beautiful nature scenery, sufficient cover from the sun, and just an all round perfect place to go for a stroll through the woods. However none of that is import or matters because there's a sizeable man-made pond shaped like a heart filled with ducks. They are shy and cautious but will absolutely feed out of your hand. Please note: bread is bad for ducks, a quick Google search shows a host of options other than bread, just make sure it is small enough for them to eat. Quarter some grapes and you'll have friends for life. There are plenty of benches at the pond as well as several garbage bins, as well as a free parking lot. Sadly, there's no bike rack, but plenty of trees and poles to chain your bike to.
I'm loving the heart shaped pond! Some good memories here! I'm looking forward for more to come. I don't know who Joey is, but I bet he's a pretty cool dude!
Nice park for a hike in the woods. Just small trails and woods, nothing else. So, came prepared because there's no washroom neither water (at least where we went). There is a good size of it where you can take your fur off leash. Lots of ups and downs for a good exercise. It is close to a school so your kid can have some fun before or after the walk. Really quiet. Be aware of the mosquitoes too, there is a lot of them.
Lovely trails and pond. A good place to feed ducks! It’s not a big enough park to go for long distance run, but quite suitable for a family walk!
Very pretty woods. Better maintenance would improve the trails. There is a cute pond filled with ducks at the entrance.
Awesome place????
I heard a love tale from my Uber driver on how a man built a love pond for his wife and it had always been on my list to visit. I finally got the chance this evening. Though I couldn't spend so much time there because the weather was chilly, it was still beautiful seeing the pond, ducks birds and people enjoying the environment. Would definitely visit again to explore the many trails.
Hidden gem. Great place to walk with or without your dog.
The trails look like looping around but they are not always. Well marked at turns and joints of the paths, but it's quite easy yet tempting to go off the trail. During summer time, walking with the brook babbling in the background can be very soothing. While during the winter season, trails are not under maintenance, so always put on the proper hiking boots for the ice and/or stumps.
Beautiful park. Well marked crusher dust trails that meander through heavily wooded areas. Several loops. An off leash section. Some benches along way.
Great place to bring the kids as nice as point pleasant park. I did orienteering with army cadets in this park years ago and received a silver map and compass award recommend this park
Great scenery... nice trails
Great spot to go for a run or to take a stroll with the dog (or cat if that's what you're into). No public washrooms or drinking water. The heart shaped pond is great to sit and relax by!
Beautiful and scenic for family photo sessions
It was a beautiful day !!
Love, love, love it, beautiful trails, about a good hour and a bit of walking and exploring and I couldn't believe how well the dogs that walked off leash were. Wish I didn't live so far. But hopefully not my last time.
My dogs and I love this park. There are enough trails to make different length walks which is nice. Can get a little buggy but stays nice and cool in the shade on hot days
I love this park , love the trails, once you start a trail you don't see too many people making it relaxing and peaceful
It's a good walking parks with amazing trails however the actual heart shaped pond needs a good cleaning
Great park! RIGHT IN THE CITY! Only wish it had more room for the dogs to run, but really convenient nontheless.
It's a nice park with many levels of difficulty for walking or running. I live adjacent to the park so I get an opportunity to take my family to the park often. They enjoy the heart shape duck pond and all the curious and ravenous creatures that frequent the pond area. There is also a school playground at one end of the park.
Excellent trails at Hemlock Ravine Park. Very well maintained and enough trails to keep you out for as long as you like. Great view to be found as well of the Bedford Basin.
Beautiful scenery including a heart shaped pond which is a must see sight.
Entrance to the park has holes and some major bumps, be careful. What you see in the pictures for the pound is what you get. It's decent but nothing extraordinary. Did not walk the rest of the park.
Beautiful spot, only con is I went when the path was still full of ice! Will definitely be going back when the ice melts!
Beautiful place. Lots of trails to take, easy walk for kids and dogs. Not enough signs though.
Great park to go on an adventure in :)
A hidden gem for a nice walk in the park and a view of a heart shaped pond.
Very beautiful park dog friendly trails were nice
Beautiful spot, in the city but youd never know. Tall trees, lots of streams. Great place to let the kids get out some energy
My new fave place to ride my bike. Nice trails and lots of friendly dogs wanting to say hello.
Nice little wooden park just outside the peninsula with a small gravel parking lot at the Kent Avenue entrance. There you can find the famous heart shaped pond and lots of ducks. Made up of a few straight and looped paths you can go through the whole park in 45 minutes. Easy hike but there are several hills. Deer sightings are a rare treat. Note there is no winter maintenance.
A trusted almost home landmark for years ????
