This Zoo corresponds to the category of Garden.
It is a very beautiful and peaceful garden. You could learn all the different types of plants which could grow in N.S.. If anyone who love natural that is a fabulous place to go.
such a great spot to stop for a bubble visit during covid. the ducks are quite clear about their expectations. but they need to forage for themselves to be healthy. very tempting though!
A nice place to enjoy Spring and Summer (have never been there in Fall). Bring your book and enjoy the nature in the heart of Halifax!
Well maintained, very clean, and always full of ducks. The most scenic route in downtown halifax.
It's nice in the summer when they have a lot of different plants, but there is a lot of pretentious folks around. Also, no garbage bins, only recycling and organic. Guess pretentious folks don't make trash.
Beautiful trees and flowers, well kept. A must see if you visit Halifax! Its great to have a beautiful area of nature in the middle of downtown. We need more of these places!(less condos). A lovely place to spot wild animals like, ducks, fish, squirrels and even some turtles!
Beautiful gardens. A perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of life. Visited in 2019
It’s a very nice little park. You can tell they put efforts in designing the park. It’s small but has all the elements of a nice park/garden feel. There’s a pond, fountain, gazebo, really nice trees and flowers. Straight alley with benches, curved walk ways. If you are in the are, it’s worth taking a little walk to see. You’ll feel relaxed instantly. Since it’s not a big park, if you are not close by and decide to take the time to get there, you might be disappointed because it’s not a big park. But a must see if you are not too far.
Awesome garden.. it feels like heaven to me
Beautiful space in the heart of Halifax. Perfect place to walk, sit and read, or to walk through and admire the amazing gardening and landscaping throughout the gardens.
Spring is in the air at Halifax Public Gardens. Always a great place to wonder or relax on a bench or in the designated lawn area. Unfortunately, no dogs are allowed on leash or off. Remember to stay off the grass. Why all the rules? The gardeners work hard to keep the place in bloom and beautiful. Plus there is history throughout the parks with dedicated trees, statues and delicate plants. Look but don't touch. Stick to the paths.
Was a great day to walk through the park. People all enjoying the nice weather. The smell of the flowers on the wind was really nice. Well cared for and not too big for people with mobility issues.
A beautiful fall day in Halifax. The gardeners are planting fall flowers and succulents to add some colour before the snow arrives. The dahlias, Rose's and other flowers are still blooming. I learned that when Prince Charles ( the tour guide I listened to said Charles...it may actually be a tree Prince Andrew planted because he was in Halifax most recently) planted a tree next to a tree his great grandparents planted long long ago. The location is across the princess louise fusilier display.
We got there so late in the year that most of the flowers were gone or the workers were digging up the rest. However I did see some beautiful colors and some beautiful Thomas Kinkade ish bridges that I thought were delightful.
What a beautiful place to get away from the noise and construction of downtown Halifax. Well kept and maintained. Imagine that this green space has been here since the early Eighteen Hundreds, simply amazing.
Nice place for a walk, it's a popular spot for wedding photos. The lights for Christmas are a nice touch, it would be nice if there were more.
Quite good place to take some sunlight in the midst of downtown. Recommend to visit for a walk and enjoy being surrounded by birds.
My favorite place in all Halifax. Good place to take a breath in the city and enjoy the flowers in a nature ambient ! Don’t let it pass without a maple ice cream selling in the small cafe at the park!
Gorgeous place and definitely underrated. Make sure you stop there for at least an hour, it's perfect for a peaceful walk and you can also have a picnic and take beautiful pictures. There's trees, flowers, fountains and beautiful landscapes. Great place also to take beautiful pictures. Definite must see!
Great location and a wonderful get away for locals to walk and get some fresh air. Plants are planted and grouped together. The section of dahlia variants was beautiful when we are there. Names are posted which is very helpful if you wish to plant them. Access is free.
Great place outdoors for tourism or hanging out with your friends for free. Open throughout the year although summer is basically it's to-go season for outstanding.
Absolutely Beautiful. Some of the best pictures I ever took were right here. Come, sit down, relax, smell the flowers, read the history, enjoy a little walk and be at peace. Have some coffee, and a bite to eat, while you're here. And support the local vendors outside selling clothing, art, and the other items. Why are you still reading this? Just go already, you'll love it too.
Great spot for a stroll or a picnic anytime of year.
Place to enjoy with your family.
Good place to walk
I'm so in love with this place ????. So beautiful and green and lovely ????. Just feeling the Hali vibes.
Great little patch of paradise in the heart of Halifax. The ducks are very used to humans and will just hang out with you.
A definite visit while in Halifax. The park is very beautiful.
Amazingly picturesque and serene place to wander around on a nice day.
What a stunningly peaceful place to visit!
Beautiful space. So glad that we came to visit. The live band was a great touch!
Very scenic and very well maintained. Unfortunately went on a cloudy day, but was still a great time.
It's a very peaceful place to chill during the day
Beautiful spot
Gorgeous park, and such spectacular summer flowers in bloom. It is very beautifully kept this gardens.
It is a big garden with variety of trees and flowers. The best time to visit it is in summer.
My favourite serene spot in downtown
Very Clean park. Got a bandstand that people play there every so often. lots of seating around the park too, however I don't think no dogs are allowed inside.
Lovely paths and beautiful gardens. Peaceful place to sit and and enjoy nature.
Beautiful and well maintained, lovely place to take a walk and you will always see baby ducklings walking around. ????
Love this garden in spring. Its an european garden style with monument .It remember in some gardens in Paris. If I live permanently in Halifax I would spend too time there.
A beautiful jewel in the heart of the city. A well kept public garden filled with flowers, a pond with ducks, benches in open and quiet places, and paths winding through and around its 2 lovely hectares.
A beautiful must see spot! Fall colors contrasting with blooms and greens.
Always beautiful, animals, plants, and so much more. A great place to have a fun day with family and friends. If you so not mind a bit of a walk to the location there is free parking for two hours, otherwise parking fees and time limits apply.
Beautiful place to visit. Great break from exploring downtown.
Really nice ,for walking around ore just have a seat
Lovely garden for walking and flower views.
Love visiting when I'm here. Such a beautiful site.
A cool gem hidden in Hali, awesome place to go and get away from the busy city streets. Recommended you go on a sunny day
Beautiful gardens and a tea shop in the middle to rest. Just wished they had more exhibits of flowers or plants there.
Beautiful gardens, such an experience! Makes me want to dress up in Victorian clothes ????
A mini paradise midst the bustling streets of Halifax town.
Always a lovely place to visit. I'm always proud of showing the Public Gardens to guests from out of town.
A beautifully manicured garden with restorative paths and an abundance of benches on which to enjoy yourself. Definitely transports and rejuvenates one on contact, even though it's in the middle of a bustling city.
Great snow / holidays lights and track
The Public Gardens was just starting to pop for the spring. While the flowers were just getting started it was clear these beautiful grounds and features have been around for many years. Such a relaxing stroll on a spring day. I can only imagine how it would be in the peak of season Park benches everywhere, and a snack bar with ice cream, coffee, cookies, and $3 cans of soda!! Clean bathrooms outside of the snack bar, and free WiFi. Password is beside of the cash register in the snack bar.
Always beautiful place for therapy solo rides....or to explore with family etc....wish mine with me during these NIGHTMARE times???????????????????????????? Be safe and god bless all And remember Who you are Where you're from WHY you're here! #awareness #endhypocrisy #movement #endcruelty #humanrights #stopstereotypes #endcorruption #stopracism #enddiscrimination #loveisforgiveness #newworld #onepeople #family #TRUTH #TEAMworkmakestheDREAMwork #spirituality #puravida #namaste Te amo mi sueno ESPOSA y MIYO mi ONLY familia y hogar
Great day at Public Gardens! ????????'s are in full bloom. Followed by a treat at the Dairy Bar! ????????
Beautiful. Historic. A must see anytime of year.
Despite being a monument to colonialism, the variety of plants, trees, flowers etc, is pretty awesome
Wonderful walking paths among the flowers and trees
Beautiful spot to walk around and loved seeing all the buds.
Amazing. Who would have thought such a nice park existed in Halifax. Bonus: no dogs allowed. Not that I don’t like dogs I just don’t like owners who have refused to train their dogs to behave in public.
best wedding ever❤❤❤
This is one of my favorite places in HRM. A neat well maintained garden in the middle of a busy city
Well maintained park, with beautiful display of flowers all labeled for someone's information, nice to relax and have a lunch.A gem in the middle of Halifax.
If you are in the area, this is a must for a break from work. The park is small but lovely and they do a lot of good maintenance. Peaceful and beautiful, I also love watching the cute fluffy geese, which are my personal highlight. The gardens are stunning all the time and they are constantly doing grooming. The only thing that desperately needs to be improved is the quality of the pond water. It's been a greenish sludge colour for far too long. I hear they are going to clean it up, and it's well over-due.
Nice walk.
Beautiful park. A lovely place to walk or sit and enjoy the trees and flowers.
Quite the place for some peace and quiet. Walk? Read workout, hang with friends. Great place to connect with nature in the middle of the city.
Flowers are blossoming and they have cleaned up the pond. It is a beautiful place to walk through, have lunch or to sit and reflect. What is nice is that they don't allow runners or cyclists through the park which gives it an added tranquil place to visit.
Beautiful! I would go everyday if we lived there. A must see to walk through if you visit.
Lovely location to seek shelter from the heat and enjoy the varieties of floral found there. Visited Griffin Pond (named after a 21 yr old boy erroneously hung), the exotic gardens where pineapple, coffee and avocado plants grow and, of course, the bandstand. A not to be missed spot when visiting Halifax.
A lovely walk in the Halifax Public Gardens. Huge stunning Rhododendrons in bloom in June a must see! The moss covered trees, statues and fountains can be found year round! Park closes 1/2 hour before dusk daily.
Always worth a visit and I usually fit it into my schedule when visiting Halifax.
Nice flowers and layout. A nice green space for families to have a picnic lunch or for classy wedding photos. Very well kept.
This is a really amazing public garden with two ponds some fountains etc. Beautiful in the winter, probably a knockout in the summer with the canopy walkways.
Beautiful gardens with so much history and peacefulness. Each flower shown is well tended and beautifully presented. Plan to spend at least an hour here. Not a weed in sight!
An island of peace and tranquillity. The public employees close too early.
Gorgeous. So well maintained and such great historical plaques.
It was interesting to walk through but not as good as I was hoping it would be. I'm glad they attempted to do something with lights and I hope they add to it over the coming years. Highlights are the gazebo and the bridge. The rest might be mesmerizing for young children
What a gem. Incredible learning of all the trees and flowers (plus a vegetable patch!) The August dahlias were especially eye-popping. With a central coffee stop as well one could spend many hours here, walking and touring, or by the pond
Beautiful gardens. But no running. LOL
An excellent and relaxing space to unwind after work or to just enjoy the sun. Even the geese were well behaved! Loved the small bridge and water features too!
The Halifax Public Gardens are beautiful to walk around. With so many different plants, of which most are signposted by name. As well as a range of sculptures and fixtures, such as bandstands and archways. It's a really great walk and gets you out of the busy city for a while.
It's beautiful in the summer, seeing all the different flowers in bloom. It's almost like an escape from our current time.
Well maintained gardens with a laid back atmosphere.
The level of dedicated from the workers here is the tops. Beautiful spot for a picnic.
Beautiful flora
This is such a nice place to just enjoy nature and relax. The flowers bring so much life to the place!! So vibrant and colorful. There is a replica of the Titanic in the pond as well.
I came in early August and it was beautiful, with flowers still in full bloom. A great spot for couple's photos.
Pretty gardens if your into nature and like walking around for a while seeing some nice flowers.
Beautiful as always. Today we saw some baby ducklings and to our pleasant surprise... a turtle basking in the sun!
One of the city’s best features There’s so much to see, so many places to relax, many cool features to this completely free and open public garden. Variety of flora and fauna, cool model ships in the pond (an official feature of a Victorian garden). Wonderful place to stroll, think, write... Love these gardens!
Beautiful and well-maintained. The groundskeepers are extremely friendly, approachable, and knowledgable. It's a really lovely experience—very relaxing!
I always love visiting public gardens. My favourite is the Dahlia display. My children love looking at all the flowers and plants and picking out which they would love to see in our yard.
Stroll or sit on a bench and enjoy the flowers. Café was open and served delicious cold beverages & ice cream, sandwiches, desserts. Washrooms also available. Too bad the fountains were not working and the ponds had not been tended (green slime). Otherwise a lovely afternoon visit.
Great place to walk around in Halifax. Public garden no entrance fee and well kept. Not that large.
I had planned to visit even before we arrived in the country and wow - I was not disappointed. The gardens are immaculately kept with interesting beds, sections and displays. There was an air of tranquility with families, couples and individuals alike enjoying the fresh air and beautiful green gardens. I 10/10 recommend stopping for a stroll and snapping a few lovely pictures!
Amazing Dahlias!
Visited on the week days Calm atmosphere and warm summer breeze was nice
Beautiful, clean, and a lovely place the whole family will enjoy.
Really charming destination
Incredibly full of character and diversity of gardens.
Such a beautiful place for our wedding photos! I have been many times over the years and I always enjoy this park so much. Their floral displays are magnificent.
I am impressed that they even have tropical plants like pineapple, coffee and citrus.
Beautiful flowers and plants all over. A great place to walk and just enjoy a nice stroll. Awesome place for a photoshoot.
Such a delightful spot to step away from life's stresses. A perfect mix of sun and shade, with beauty abounding.
Lovely little park in the middle of the city. We got a coffee from a near by coffee shop and sat and watched the ducks.
Very nice gardens. Good size but a little smaller than some other big cities. In Halifax there are so many amazing parks and little gems, this Public Garden is beautiful but not a must see if you don't like being downtown.
Just a nice and well kept park. Every other word is obsolete. Just go and visit.
A good place to take a walk
Reminded me of Stephens Green in Dublin. Amazing Dahlia experience. Gardners are all PHDs
Beautiful place inside the city. Great place for a nice walk and enjoy the nature. It's like you are in a whole different place????
If you like history and gardens or either this is the place to visit. It's so beautiful and really well maintained. It's an amazing spot to take your kids as well.
The public gardens is a nice addition to the middle of the city. When you’re inside it doesn’t even really feel like you’re in a city. This summer they had a little garden of different flower types that I hadn’t noticed in previous years. It’s a great spot to sit by the water and watch the ducks with a coffee or lunch.
The Halifax Public Gardens is a sight to see you when you make your way to the downtown center. The many varieties of plants and flowerswill make you feel like you're another places in the world. You also cannot bet to the adorable ducks, geese, and other wildlife you will find venturing through the gardens. I highly recommend adding this to your places to see in Halifax!
Very wonderful experience Flowers in bloom people enjoying the outdoors families artists and members of the community
This musical event was wonderful! Solidarity Summer Sunday Concert Series was splendid! You treat you to every senses Halifax Public Garden's!
A wonderful public park in the middle of a city, so tranquil. A must stop on a visit to Halifax.
Visited this park within the city two days ago before it closes for the winter. It is amazingly beautiful in the fall as the summer.
Beautiful park to walk through.
An amazing garden to visit.
Excellent small park in centre of downtown Halifax. This contains well maintained flower beds, manicured lawns, a small lake and a Hortucultural house containing small cafe, toilets and gift shop. Good disabled access with small gravel paths that are quite wide.
Beautiful garders, worth the visit
Nice park near the Halifax Citadel. Worth spending couple of hours strolling in the gardens and looking at the flowers in summer, which is when I went.
Spent a beautiful afternoon with our son and grand daughters in the gardens yesterday. Great free concert too! If you haven't been to the Halifax Public Gardens, it is a must stop on your visit.
Always beautiful and peaceful.
In my opinion The Halifax Public Gardens is the cities best 'attraction' and is an experience worth driving to Halifax for. An oasis of tranquility and peace in the heart of the city, with well groomed flowers and plants and clean walking paths. While smaller, the intimate feel and free cost (for me) put this garden slightly ahead of the Botanical Gardens of Montreal. Every city should strive to emulate this spectacular public space that Halifax has!
The only problem with this park is they don't want you on the grass other than that it's bcid.eautiful tranquil placid. Highly recommended for anyone that likes flowers color trees nature and even monuments
Beautiful botanical oasis in the middle of Halifax. Lots of different species of trees and flowers, even a vegetable garden. Lovely paths with water features a gazebo and a coffee shop make this the ideal spot for a date, an afternoon stroll or just a place to go read a book and get away from the city. There is a grass play area for young families. Please note the park closes 30 minutes before sunset.
Beautiful gardens with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the beauty. They also have a place to purchase refreshments. It would have been nice to have people in the park to talk about the area.
Nice spot for a short walk. Lots of shade to relax in, relatively quiet for being in a city because it has so many trees and it gated in. There is a convenient coffee shop in the center.
A definite Go To while visiting Halifax! Nice garden located deep at Halifax Downtown.
A must see if you are in Halifax. Offers beautiful landscapes, plenty of places for great photos of the park or with loved ones and friends. Numerous species of flora including, but not limited to: Rhododendrons, magnolia trees, amazing arrangements of annuals and perennials, often into beautiful, commemorative tributes to national holidays (E.G. Canada 150 and this year featuring Canada 151).
Lovely place to walk and to see lovingly tended gardens. Keep off the grass, mind you, or you get nabbed by the roving Gardens constabulary. Terrific venue!
I loved this place! -it has washrooms near the front entrance (be warned - the public likes to abuse washrooms as we all know) -immaculate grooming and landscaping -beautiful water features and open spaces -nice shady areas and paths to walk through and admire -there's a nice little cafe near the front entrance for snacks and ice cream -little placards with scientific (Latin) names of many species of shrubs and trees -totally free to the public! -metered (but busy) parking nearby Definitely was a high point of a trip to downtown Halifax.
So beautiful, would love to just sit around for hours.
The area is often small, but there are many kinds of flowers planted. Flower beds, flower beds, flower margins and flower bushes are used to show rich colors and gestures.
A fantastic place to visit with family and friends. Enjoy a calm place under the shadow of trees and beautiful flower. Here you can see the natural beauty of Halifax. Here you can see different kinds of flowers, few ducks in the Griffin pond. This garden is also known as the Spring Garden of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Amazing and relaxing view in Summer.
Peaceful...graceful....historic and educational. I love this place.
It's beautiful! It's a park in the middle of the city like new York but much smaller. The bright side is it has a lot of ponds with design and decorations. Have to come and walk around during the day after your good meal
Halfax Public Gardens are a peaceful oasis on a hot summer afternoon. With plenty of shaded benches and lots of water features, it's a great spot to sit for a spell, wander the paths and soak in the colours and scents of the flower beds, shrubs and trees. This is one National Historic Site where admission is free!
Beautiful and calm place to walk around and stay sometime!
The gardens had been closed and I think is now open for the season. Glad we got to wall through this beautiful garden before our trip came to an end. I can only imagine what it will look like in full bloom.
Beautiful in the summer and winter, very relaxing with the ducks
I visited this amazing park in winter. It has very nice areas to walk. the best ts to visit it in summer.
A very peaceful park and a throw back in time. Very well looked after and a credit to the grounds keeper!
As though Central Park and the Botanical gardens got together and had a baby. Stunning foliage and florals, even in October!
Beautiful garden. Grab lunch and eat there. It is a quiet place at the heart of the city. Walk around and see the birds, ponds, flowers etc. Kept it very neat and clean. You don't have to pay anything. There were some live music when we went there.
One of most beautiful garden I have ever visited. It has got many varieties of flower. Best time is to go in fall and spring season.
Great park! I enjoyed my walk and stay there
Such a beautiful spot to sit and relax, read a book, or have family/wedding/prom photos done! Plenty of spaces to sit and walking paths throughout that connect you back to the main streets. A great place for a family walk with kids as there are always ducks around as well. Be warned, there is no running allowed in here so if you're looking for a place to jog, try Point Pleasant Park!
Very nice and well maintain.
Very peaceful place! I thought it would be bigger.
Very pretty! Kids loved it :D
Well worth the visit. And and ice cream too :)
Beautiful gardens with a really nice walking path. Benches everywhere. It was quiet and not overly crowded when I went (early evening).
Too beautiful to describe! Nested in the center of downtown Halifax, this is THE PLACE to stroll. Ducks, birds, trees, streams, benches to sit, public washrooms available, handicap accessible, and gorgeous flowers everywhere!! Spectacular!
Beautiful setting! Plenty of park benches to sit down and enjoy the view!
Beautiful, a must see when visiting Halifax. A little piece of the Victorian era preserved for us to see.
Beautiful and well maintained gardens. Lots of benches. Great for a picnic, to read or a stroll with a friend.
The display this year was amazing. It was a major improvement from last year. We went on Canada day during after the concert schedule but they were still playing and it made it a very beautiful experience. The flowers everywhere and the agave plant blooming.
In winter public gardens are so pretty but in summer it is really stunning. The colours just come out and it’s even better when an event is going on cause then you can sit in the gardens with some entertainment and enjoy the beautiful nature around u from within the city.
Loved the place as well it's easily accessible through buses. Great place to spend a day off as it's close to downtown you can go for lunch or beers whenever you like.
Really beautiful garden, very clean and well treated. It worths the visit, and the coffee shop is great.
Best place for photography and for Garden lovers....????????
One of the most beautiful places in Halifax. It was a treat to go there while visiting the city. Great place to just walk on your own or with company. Plenty of benches with as many nature settings to support your mood. Take your camera and you'll definitely get some great shots.
Nice little stroll..lots of shaddy spots benches to soak it in.
So beautiful! A beautiful park with stunning gardens that keep intact the theme of a Victorian garden. So much history in this park. Not very big, which is great - less time walking; more time to sit back, get a drink at the café and take photos of the beautiful flowers. Although we did not take one, there are free walking tours available at set times - or you can pick up a pamphlet at the café!
Wow, wow, wow a beautiful spot in the middle of a very busy city... thank you for the flowers ????????
Such a beautiful place. A must see for anyone visiting halifax
Always a peaceful, beautiful and restful garden. Los of interesting plant life; a stop at the cottage for a treat is always fun.
quietest place in the City! Well maintained. Lots of trees, flowers, and manacured lawns. They even have live bands on Sunday afternoons
In the heart of the city but always quiet and beautiful. Exotic gardens, ponds and Brooks with a variety of small wildlife. Well kept and well worth a visit. This is a safe park and you will feel safe wandering through it.
Very clean and well maintaned by the city. Go check out my pages on instagram and facebook exploringsouthshore ???? thanks
it was very hot that day also they should sell bird seed for the bird's .. I paid $3.16 for a oatcake to feed the ducks and the birds down there are starved... it's a sin ... people bring these birds some food please but the Gardens has always been a beautiful place and I think everyone has taken thier family there ... kids love it I know mine did ...
An incredible place, it's a healing garden for me. Completely accessible for all. A place to escape the hustle & bustle of the city. I love sitting by one for the fountains and pretend I am in Paris, London or any other Northern Europe city rich with urban gardens/parks.
The garden is a beautiful place to enjoy an afternoon. The color and smells are spectacular. A lot of people enjoy the park without being overcrowded. The ice cream shop is well worth enjoying outside on the patio.
Such a beautiful place to go for a stroll and enjoy nature's beauty in the middle of downtown.
What a beautiful building! Great spot to sit and enjoy reading or watching people! Great view of the city from the 5th floor
A must-visit for visitors to the city. Even though I visited in October, there were still lots of flowers in the gardens. There was a dahlia showing which was a pretty presentation of colourful blooms. Prepare to spend at least an hour strolling through the gardens, more time needed if you are going to the coffee shop.
Beautiful, relatively private, and a tastefully integrated cafe. A jewel of the city that you should reserve at least a half hour to see.
Public Gardens is a beautiful place to walk in every season.
what a beautiful place, I had the chance to visit it during the summer and it was a joy.
Beautiful and well maintained, perfect for a morning stroll with a coffee.
It doesn't matter if you are alone, with your significant other, with friend(s) or with family. It doesn't matter if you are a local, just visiting friends or family members or are a tourist. The Halifax Public Garden is the perfect place to walk, relax and take photos =)
Beautiful garden with plenty of paths and sitting areas.
Beautiful! Even in the fall the garden still had much to offer
Really cute garden, situated inside the city, next to the Dalhousie University. There are a lot of historic corners, such as the oak tree planted by King George or the plants given by Hokkaido, Japan. If I live in this town, I would definitely take a stroll in the gardens often. Lovely and peaceful :)
The Gardens are gorgeous as everything is starting to bloom.
Always worth a visit... these Victorian style gardens have been around for many years. Have a picnic, listen to some jazz or simply watch the world drift by. For plant geeks like me, many of the perennials, trees and shrubs are labeled.
Better in the summer, but still great in late Autumn.. nice walking area
Always an amazing experience. We were here this time a bit early. Can't wait to go back in a month or so. But we did get to see the agave before the end.
Beautiful place with lot of flowers blossoming ..could have done better job by planting more trees and improving landscape..some parts of the park are look empty whereas entrance area is nicely done.....
A short walk through the public gardens today; Nice as always ????
It's a beautiful garden. Well maintained and highly recommended anyone who likes old traditional gardens with a TOUCH of modern, to come and enjoy.
Came from Toronto and heard nothing but great things about this place. Truly a beautiful sight. Took a stroll around town and this was my second stop right after citadel hill. Always appreciate a little nature in the midst of downtown. Remarkable!
Beautiful gardens, fountains and ponds. So many ducks and other birds just hanging around and relaxing. So relaxing and great for some nice pictures. Little cafe on the one side with coffee, sandwiches, paninis and baked treats.
Beautiful place lots of duckies c:
What a beautiful and relaxing place
This garden is gorgeous and well maintained. I'd like to spend hours there. All of the placards are informative and interesting.
I love the gardens in season, but the most recent visit was for the Evergreen Light Festival installation and that was severely disappointing! A small roundes path to the gazebo and then back out the front gate. Doors opened at 6 and we were done at 606. Let's blame this on the Omicron restrictions.
It’s always one of my favourite places in HRM!!
A perfect place to take a break and zi love that they have added the coffee house in the park.
Beautiful when i was a young girl, and still beautiful ❤
Beautiful victorian style garden in middle of downtown. Certainly a nice place to sit , relax and unwind. Must go if you are in Halifax.
Plesant place during beautiful weather
Just peaceful and breathtaking. So many varieties and excellent design and placement.
Halifax Public Garden is a very beautiful place in the city life. This place is very well organized and easily accessible. If someone wants to spend some time with the natural beauty, this is the one of great places in Halifax. Particularly in summer, it looks very beautiful. I would recommend this place to visit.
Beautiful gardens. Great for a quiet walk.
Small but very well maintained park. So many different flowers planted.
There are some beautiful spots. Not as beautiful as gardens in Toronto but really good for a place like Halifax.
This year they added Christmas lights during the holiday for a little festive walk through or picture taking. Always clean and well kept, and somehow always find something new at the Public Gardens. Great for lunch or a place to walk the kids through.
Very beautiful flowers and peaceful place.
It’s very clean and tidy. A nice environment to visit either for your quiet time or to spend some quality and intimate time with a friend or family. You also get to take beautiful pictures + there’s free WiFi too!
Such a beautiful spot... still after ten years
It's a very well kept spot. Immaculately kept really. There's so much to see it takes some time. So take your time. There's cactus. Annuals. Fig trees. Banana trees. Pineapple trees. Coffee plants. Succulents as well. Would highly recommend spending a good hour if you want to take your time and really motive the different pieces. It's an incredibly peaceful spot to spend a bit of time.
Nice place to visit in Halifax. A lot of birds like ducks.
Amazing place! We really enjoyed our family walk! ????
Just a beautiful, tranquil place to walk, sit, read.
I can't wait to be here on summer
See all the nice flowers and enjoyed the pond. So many nice people walking around.
Lovely lights and the bandstand has lights synchronized with a light pattern randomized to the music.
Full of lots of beautiful plants. Would definitely recommend taking a walk through. Only thing is no dogs so you sadly can't take your fur baby.
We live in Dartmouth but we try not to miss any opportunity to visit Public Gardens. His place is like a therapy or meditation. There is just so much positive energy here.
Beautiful Victorian Gardens. Stroll along the pathways to see so many flowers and trees right in the heart of Halifax. A great history event too! Right now the gates are open in the evening to explore the scenery with color lights. Simple but beautiful for the month of December.
Beautiful. Huge green space with colourful flower beds and attractive water features. Lots of seating, too. A must visit.
A beautiful place. There is live music performances, a pond full of very friendly ducks, and a really lovely variety of flowers. If you're looking for dahlias, this is the place to go when they're blooming. A gorgeous place in Halifax.
It's a public garden, while pretty you are not allowed to sit on the grass, it's not huge but well sized and there are public bathrooms which was very nice
lovely place to go see the ducks. The kids love it as do I. And geese!
Kid was going to prom with friends, they were getting pictures first, wife wanted to see her dressed up. So off we go to the city... well traffic and parking aside It's a great place for photos. It's a public space in the city. Fair amount of space with plants and trees you can meander around. Not much to say about a garden. Check it out if in the city nice place to read, hang or just vegetate. Be well
Absolutely beautiful as it is every year!????????????????
Different than anything else I've seen around Halifax. When you go in it feel as if you're in a different city and kind of trapped in this garden. Garden has a wide variety of flowers and a pond. It is well maintained. Good place to go for a walk!
A lovely retreat in our city. A traditional Victorian garden. A very special place!
Historic gardens in the heart of downtown Halifax. Beautiful.
Beautiful Victorian garden
This garden has always been and will always be amazing! Such a great place to take a walk and relax! ????
Short stroll around decorated sections. Lights were beautiful.
Beautiful spot in the middle of the city. Very well maintained with some great history.
Speaks for itself. Go back in time and walk among 150+ year old trees, fountains and statues. Serenity in the middle of the city.
A world class garden right in the heart of the city
Always a beautiful and serene place to explore, one of my favorite places in Halifax.
A beautiful garden!
Beautiful gardens, a one of a kind experience if you like dahlias. Very well kept and peaceful mid day.
Hands down the most beautiful gardens I've ever seen. Gorgeous place for a stroll in any weather.
Exquisite and beautifully maintained gardens with plenty of room to wander and explore. Lots of interesting plants, a pond, fountains, Bridges and more!
Beautiful gardens from early spring to late fall. Love the Cacti section. Good place to walk, sit and watch the ducks in the pond, play on the grass, or enjoy the flowers. Wonderful oasis in the middle of the city.
What a beautiful place to spend an evening after a long isolation period .
A winter wonderland experience. So nice to be able to enjoy the Public Gardens in the Winter. Beautiful light show and music, thank you PG
A lovely peaceful oasis in the city. Even in October there were beautiful colourful dahlias and interesting plants and shrubs .
Always a beautiful place to meander and enjoy some manicured beauty in the city. No running though. There are a few other rules, but that is the big one I see people getting in trouble for. There are benches everywhere, and you can sit and enjoy lunch. The pavilion has uncommon grounds and sugah! inside. So you can get a snack there or from a nearby shop.
I enjoyed an afternoon picnic with my best friend from work. As we stroll through some of the park I managed to get a number of pictures and watch the ducks being followed by their little babies. The the grounds are in bloom, the gardens are gorgeous on the afternoon sun was beautiful.
Good but washroom not clean at all. Couldn't use it due to the stench :(
I have been going here since I was a pre-schooler. I have been across all of Canada and visited many of the major gardens. The Public Gardens is one of my favourite spots in Canada, whether I'm alone and taking photographs, taking pictures for and talking with tourists, people watching, enjoying an ice-cream, or listening to the live music or other special events, I recommend The Gardens for everyone who lives in or visits Halifax. The agave plant is getting reading to turn red and die - something I have never seen before. Every day in The Gardens is different. Free Movies In the Park was taking place last weekend and it's always a special treat to be in The Gardens on prom night or when wedding pictures are being taken. No matter how busy I am when in the city, I feel I can't just walk by; stepping inside slows the heart beat and enhances the senses. It's great for children to see different kinds of birds, squirrels, flowers, and trees, and learn and experience numbers, the small bridge, the duck pond with the miniature Titanic and naval ship, and to enjoy the fountains. The Public Gardens is a true Victorian garden and the map of the property can be folded into four sections, with each section being different from the other. The flower beds are various shapes and, in true victorian-style, many have shorter plants on the outside with the flowers getting taller as they go to the middle in each flower bed. It is a perfect place to unwind by enjoying the landscape and slower pace or to challenge the mind in a game of checkers at one of the checker tables.
Always a nice spot to visit. Sat and watched the ducks. And enjoyed the fresh air. Looks like a night visit is in order for the light show.
My family and I loved seeing all the flowers, plants and trees. Great variety, we even found a pineapple growing. If you look carefully you might even see a turtle ???? in the pond ☺️
Went to see the holiday lights. It was crowded on a Saturday evening. Lots if colored lights. Nicely done.
Beautiful garden! Lots of different views within the garden and a peaceful atmosphere. We saw different species of ducks and beautifully arranged flowers. A great place for a stroll!
Beautiful Victorian garden. World class and compairable to the expensive European ones you have to pay to enter. There are wide and accessible pathways benches and seating and even a family lawn area to picnic on! Free concert series on Sundays at the gazebo even ice cream and treats at a cute little tea house. It's for something for everyone!
Beauty, peace and tranquility... And all the poke stops! I love coming to the gardens. I get a good walk in and get to enjoy the beautiful scenery... all while catching some decent pokemon. The history behind the gardens is a deep seeded one, I love to see all the landmarks, and to sit by the water. Nothing better.
Beautiful and relaxing. Really enjoyed strolling through on this hot day. So many places to sit and relax.
A wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon. Great ice cream at the shop. Lots of ducks, too many pigeons, and the ponds have lots of gold fish. The crowning glory of the ponds used to be the swans. Last time I visited there weren't any but maybe that has changed. I also miss the two massive old elm trees that bracketed the main wrought iron gate - they came down in the hurricane in 2004 I believe. But the flower beds are AMAZING every spring and summer no fail.
Beautiful and peaceful park with gorgeous tulip gardens all over. Great place to relax.
Not the best day to visit. Looked as though some of the garden needed tending to. Couple of nice photos attached.
Still beautiful in mid October, peaceful, great place to clear your head
Lots of beautiful flowers here!
I only have a photo actually but you all may enjoy it . I'm long overdue for a visit .
Well kept garden with lots of different types of tree's and flowers. You can have a tea or coffee in the gardens.
A very nice place to kick back and relax. Many varieties of trees and flowers. Lots of benches and some friendly ducks.
A beautiful tiny park in the city with a nice variety of plants and lovely big trees. A cute little restaurant on site too! Very quaint little park. Takes about 20 minutes to walk through. Parking in the area is hard to find. Several homeless people in the area (none in the gardens). Sad. Some will approach you asking for money. A little uncomfortable. No security guards on site. But I still recommend a visit.
Super stunning everything was very nice we had a guide with us and he was very funny and nice. Definitely should pass by
Well organized and beautiful garden.
Beautiful garden right in the middle of the city. Great place for dates, reading, and people-watching. Highly recommended to grab an ice cream or cold drinks from one of the local establishments nearby and just enjoy the views.
Very well kept and lots of different plants to see even late in the season. Very peaceful area and great if you want inspiration for your own garden.
Such a beautiful park lots of benchs to sit and watch the ducks or look at the flowers . Love this park
Very beautiful gardens with surprisingly many tropical and annual flowers. Can spend a lot of time exploring and learning. Great they use name tags for the plants. Nice pond and even a coffee house on the grounds. Nice dragon flowers what an imagination.
Really nice place to relax and see the beautiful flowers. The whole garden is well maintained and there is a shop where one can get sit down and have some nice drinks.
Wow beautiful Victorian garden wow so many flowers wow so much water wow trees
The light festival is a nice activity to do at night
Beautiful, well looked after. Very peaceful, great place to unwind. So many different plant species here, absolutely worth a visit if it's your first, or tenth time. Always learn something new!
Beautiful Flower Garden
Lovely spot to take the time and enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful spot in Halifax
Loved this oasis in center of Halifax! The great fall autumn colors did not hurt either :)
Was absolutely beautiful took so many pictures seeing plants I've never seen before very well kept enjoyed my afternoon
I was so excited to hear that they put lights in the gardens for christmas this year. I went tonight to check it out and was very disappointed. Not even a quarter of the gardens were decorated. Tonight was the last night for them and although onlookers were there to see, I could hear others saying how disappointed they were too. Good effort, but next year please add more. Most would agree in saying that ot would be spectacular ALL lit up!
Good for a stroll and can be good for your mental health too.
Had some me time here! Awesome and beautiful, and the day i visited it did not close at 4, in fact the posted closing time is ‘one half hour before sunset’.
Love the gardens, BUT have the public facilities OPEN as well!!! Dewolfe Park in Bedford has theirs OPEN as long as walking is safe during all seasons.
Close to transit ferry dock. Nice small playground for the kids, benches and shady areas.
Absolutely beautiful. First time ever there and will visit again. Staff was helpful and courteous. A great place to visit and unwind.
A beauty place for a walk in the spring and summer. If you're into trees and flowers there's a big variety and lots of them are labelled throughout the park. Mostly gravel pathways but they're fine with a stroller, not sure about wheelchairs. Many places to stop and sit and it's generally a pretty quiet place.
Beautiful. Love the fencing, fountain and so many things
The public gardens is one of my favourite places in all of Halifax. When I was working downtown, it made an excellent place to take a break and stretch my legs. It provides a variety of plants throughout the seasons to enjoy and now there are informational boards at key points that provide a look into the garden's history. Now that they have it open all year round, it is possible to enjoy a winter walk, taking in the unique beauty of the colder season.
Well worth taking the time to explore!
There is lights timed to music in the garden for Christmas which is a great addition for the season. It's a family friendly activity that's great during Covid restrictions.
Absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to visit again once all the flowers are in bloom.
It is huge. And beautiful. Will be better in summer.
Large enough that you never feel crowded, parking can sometimes be hard to find. Taking the bus is likely the best option.
Great escape from the city traffic.
