Very nice place for dog walking.
Love walking around here with my boyfriend.
Nice place to be surrounded by trees....
Beautiful nature spot within the city. Easy to forget where you are. Serenity and splendour abound.
Great place for a small walk / hike with a well maintained property just on the outskirts of town.
Fantastic scenery and park to explore. Lots of different things to sew and nice photo oops. Highly recommend!
The Arboretum is the jewel of Guelph. I love jogging here or sitting in the Japanese Tranquility Garden and reading a book while squirrels play in the trees above me. …
Beautiful gardens and paths. Very peaceful.
Wonderful place! Lits of crisscrossing trails to explore and new label species to learn. Wonderful place for the kids to explore.
Great trails and beautiful plants and trees to discover.
Truly three most beautiful place in Guelph.
It's a place that doesn't give you a feel of being somewhere off the grid.Though it's a great place to walk or maybe jog.
Great place for a walk, picnic or try disc golf. Free parking. Nature center. Learn about different flora and fauna.
Always a great Walk.
Great place, probably the most diversified greenspace in guelph. We need more places like this. Have a couple of family members "resting" here. So if you're afraid of ghosts, maybe don't go. Could use a couple shelters with bbq's for the living...
Absolutely beautiful grounds. I especially love the fountain in the garden. It's beauty surrounded by statues and lavender. There's also a peaceful beautiful zen garden and so much more.
Lots to see and easy to get around. Good place to visit. Love the Japanese garden.
Great place for a walk with lots of interesting information about what you are seeing.
A hidden gem in the city. We visited on a whim while driving through and were pleasantly surprised. Beautiful grounds and plantings. The mini gardens are pretty. Offers a lot more and a must visit for all. Free entry to boot.
A quiet and serene environment with lots of unique outdoor garden experiences. Enjoyed discovering the wildlife and learning about some unique tree varieties. Refreshing place for a stroll or for simply taking in the vistas from one of the plethora of benches available throughout the park.
Lovely place to hike and Geocache. Oddly enough I can't seem to find the trail I used to hike last winter but getting lost in the forest is half the fun.
Gorgeous peaceful place especially at a time like this
The Arboretum is a magical getaway. With the spectacular gardens to the beautiful trees and trails it is a place of peace and relaxation. There are so many lovely things to explore and discover, go for a picnic, read a book, draw or write, …
Very nice only some trailes ok for stroller grass trails get buggy some times Trailes could be better marked.
Beautiful place for a stroll!!
Such a good place to study, go on a bike ride or walk. It usually isn’t too busy and the gardens are really beautiful in the summer time. I would appreciate though if they could fix the boardwalks!
Was snowy and bit slippery when I went , but it is beautiful place to hang out
Very neatly groomed n maintained Pleasant
Great place to relax with friends or family and a great range of sights from paved beautiful trails to gardens to natural hikes.
Absolutely love wandering around the forests here
A beautiful place to walk in Guelph in all seasons.
Great place for a walk
If you are terrified of trees this is not the place for you.
Wonderful gardens and beautiful walkways through green fields. Came here to look for butterflies with our son, but we didn't see many this time. Nonetheless it's a great place to spend some hours relaxing.
Fun place to visit ????
This place is quite large with an interesting collection of trees and an iconic disc golf course. There's pavilions with some amenities and information about the Arboretum. Tons of benches and great areas for picnics. Lots of pathways and very well maintained with a thoughtful layout. It's a picturesque park that's great for a walk with the family, fiance or dog. Worth checking out, bring your camera.
Lovely place to go for a walk at the University not Guleph, free parking but very beautiful landscaping and sculpture's that are spread out over the walk
Beautiful grounds, good disc golf course as well
Nice trails around the property.
Lovely place for a walk. Lots of interesting plants and trees.
Felt like was stepping into another time. Absolutely gorgeous
The Arboretum is a scenic, extremely well maintained place to visit. Walking through the various gardens and green spaces in the spring, summer or fall is always a pleasure.
Great place, beautiful and clean. The only issue was the unavailability of open bathrooms hence the 4*.
Really nice place for a walk and to just hang out.
Stunning place!
Japanese garden is 8/10. Would recommend but construction noise is not very peaceful during the working day.
Leaf ID day went really well with 26 different leaves found in 2 hours!
Green space. Gardens. Wildlife. Connect with nature. Beautiful. Love this place
Beautiful place, natural and calm area.
This place is one of the reasons we choose to move to Guelph in the first place. Fountains, sculptures, epic boardwalks through marshes, a network of well maintained paths with maps and good signage, and even an indoor venue with a living roof and a gazebo for special events like weddings and the like. A nice quiet place to come and get grounded in nature or go for a walk with a friend. It's a real treasure for everyone to enjoy.
Trails are hard to navigate. Lots to explore. Went in the fall. Would be curious what it's like in the spring too.
The Arboretum is a beautiful and peaceful place to go for some serenity. Wonderful meandering trails and walkways with lovely gardens, trees and flowers. Benches to sit and reflect or read a book. Adequate parking provided. No fee. Enjoy!
Wonderfull place to spend some quiet time for a walk.
If you give this a one star rating a two star rating, or a three star rating, or say there are better places nearby, you are either picky, blind, or plain old dumb.
Great place for family and kids, good for picnic, hiking and walking your dog. They have benches all over the park. Adequate free parking.
Beautiful place for walk and bird watching
Very pretty place. Great for walking dogs :)
Beautiful location for a walk no matter what time of year. There are a variety of paths and tree signage to learn about the many species planted here.
Wonderful spot to wander the trails while kids explore
Great for nature trails and taking photos.
Great walking trails right within Guelph. Rare and endangered tree species are protected. Memorial gardens.
One of my favorite places in the wo4ld
Such a wonderful resource. Always popular but loads of space to enjoy the beautiful landscaping and planting. My dogs love it and we often meet up with friends too their too.
This place exceeded our expectations in terms of its natural beauty and the trails. Ample parking space, trails through the woods, clearings for picnic make it a perfect summer afternoon escape.
Absolutely beautiful scenery. If you're going to go for a walk, go to the arboretum. It is better than any other walking route I can think of! Fall leaves? Check. Lush greenery? Check. Massive variance in route lengths and paved options? Check. What more could you want! And it's on campus?? This is the place to be
Unfortunately is a bit disappointed to see how the ponds are dirty, and smeally, need more care
Great place to walk around. There are lots of good trails to wander around on. Lots of shaded areas and benches to rest. I wish there was a place to get some water, just make sure to bring your own. Good parking and access.
Amazing place to learn about nature and horticulture!
I went there for my Covid19 vaccine. First shot . Everyone and everything is well Organized.
You can tell the University is giving the Arboretum a little more attention these days which is fantastic. They are servicing the boardwalks making the trails look so much nicer and be so much more accessible. I had a wonderful time. Wish …
Great scenery, and the information for each tree is always interesting. Plus disc golf is ????
Late fall beauty, right before snowfall
Hidden gem at u of g
Good for walking, and picnic.
Great place for a walk. There is a large variety of trees and plants, and there are many themed gardens and places to relax and enjoy nature.
Amazing! Very quiet, like a beat of Heaven!
Nice environment with many beautuful walking trail.
Beautiful picnic spot
Lovely for a walk around. Lots of parking, seating and nice trails.
A brilliant and we'll kept arboretum with many rare and beautiful specimens and well kept gardens.
If it wasn't so far away from a bus stop this would be a great place for running and jogging. By the time I run there, I'm already beat. Would be nice if a bus stop was closer! A beautiful place for walking though!
Lovely area for a picnic or walking . Lots of info on the plants in the park. Once covid is over it will be a five star. We come here every year at least once. Parking is free and adequate. Only issue is proximity to busy highway on the east end.
Lovely park with a lot of picturesque spots. There is a wedding hall in the middle as well.
We went geocaching! Lots of neat finds hidden in the arboretum
Really nice outdoor space for walking, trails, disc golf or just relaxing outdoors
Super great place in the middle of Guelph. The infrastructure is done up and the place isn't really wild, but its great for a casual walk with a dog or if you want to shoot photos of birds.
I've been going here for 30+ years and will continue to go and show my son what I grew up doing. Really miss the nature centre and sugar shack.
A very pleasant park to jog in.
A great place to live for those who are 55 or over. Many amenities, beautiful grounds and all is well groomed. Condos, homes, townhouses, buy or rent. Medical care, if needed.
This park is huge. I love it most when I'm alone so I can take in the nature, be present and conscious of my beautiful surroundings. If a plant is in memory of someone it often has quotes under it to ponder on. I was a bit taken back from the "Rose garden" with no roses just weed growing, and the construction barrels in front of the Japanese garden which were left there were distracting.
Is kinda average if you traveled a long distance to get here
The Arboretum was wonderdul. Lived walking in the garden with my boys.
Beautiful!
I went on "Bug Day". There were educational displays, information and opportunities to try roasted (flavoured) bugs and cookies made from ground bug flour. The grounds themselves provide lovely trails to wander and beautiful plants and a wide variety of trees.
LOVE this place for photographing weddings and engagements!! Always so perfect.
It's a amazing place for all ages. We have been going with our 18month old all summer and find something new and interesting everytime.
Great place for a walk and to look for snakes and other wildlife. The forsythia and magnolia were in full bloom which was lovely. Such nice open spaces that it's easy to keep your distance from other people.
Beautiful fall colours! Lots of unusual species of trees.
Love walking through here. Excellent place to clear your mind
Lots of great walking trails. Beautiful place to be with nature. If you look there are many critters that live in the arboretum. Would be a great place to reach young children about nature or go on a date. A oasis of nature in the city. Great place to go and relax. I go about once a month just to relax. Very quiet and peaceful. I particularly like the asian inspired garden and the wood trails.
One of the prettiest places we've seen in southwestern Ontario.
Great place for a stroll and picnic.
Relaxing day just wandering around enjoying the smells and sights of all the variety of trees around. Right now Lilac are in bloom and wonderful to stop and just take a deep breath.
The Arboretum is one of the most beautiful places for a hike in Guelph.
Well maintained and a beautiful variety of trees and plants
A lovely place to walk on a late Autumn day. Trails are clearly marked. We particularly enjoyed the nature garden. There are artwork installations and formal gardens to enjoys as well. Plenty of benches to enjoy the views
What a gorgeous spot. One of the best places in Guelph. Beautiful nature spot. Wish we had more of this all over the city and beyond!:)
Quiet and nice. Love the Japanese garden. Cute but zen! Many different types of trees. Love the tulip tree the most - leaves look like a painted picture.
Very clean and maintained park. Enjoyed walking and meditated environment at the Japanese garden
Grounds are well maintained and the plants are perfectly pruned. Even after heavy rain the water wasn't saturated with puddles. That made it very easy to walk around without getting drenched. The gazebo area has power outlets for electricity and has no steps making it easy for wheelchairs or strollers.
Always a great place to visit, even on a relatively busy Saturday afternoon their are plenty of quiet shady spaces to explore and embrace nature.
Beautiful area and walking trails
I went to UoG from 2010-2014 and this was always my retreat from the world. Now I live in the city once again and bring my bunny here for some nature time.
Hidden gem of a place. Best to visit during the summer when most of the students are away :p Wish they could fix the potholes in the road leading to it though.
Always a great place to spend time in nature
Beautiful park. Has nice hiking trails as well. I have visited during all seasons of the year when I was a student at UoG. Would recommend.
The Arboretum building is still closed, grounds are open for walking trails.
Really nice place for a relaxing stroll and learning about trees and shrubs.
Very pleasant walks, with several nice areas to explore. The numerous paths can make each visit a varied experience, versus other simpler one-end-to-the-other trails.
Wonderful area with so many interesting things to discover! Many trails to follow and room to social distance. As a newcomer to Guelph, we feel we've hit the jackpot for outside activity.
Great little place to bring your date
Beautiful place to have a walk
Would like to come back in the spring to see lilacs
Great fall walk with the kids
Our first visit here and it was fantastic! Will have to come back in the summer.
Beautiful and serene!
May is the best month for flowers, but it's a lovely space any time of year
Beautiful place for body and soul. Lot's to learn about different wood species. Immaculate clean and safe. Something for all ages. I've seen people with their dogs on leash going for a beautiful forest. Also quite few weddings have taken pictures.
Great park, informative and lots of open space. Trails are well maintained and of course the selection of trees is great
Fantastic place to walk the dogs on-leash, especially after a visit at the vet university. Our girl Shiva is being treated for cancer and she just loves unwinding there after her chemotherapy treatments. Peaceful, meditative, awesome!
Good place
Great place for a walk, also very educational! Lots of information on our local fauna and even some not so local! Keep up the good work UoG
A botanical garden for Guelph residents.
Quiet spot for a walk. They have small garden and an event space.
What an amazing park. It is very well kept with lots of benches throughout. I really like that there are many plaques describing the spices. There are many walking paths, some are more accessible than others. There are also numerous places to park.
As UoG almuni, I love this place. When I get the chance to go, I will.
Pristine I loved walking through the trails ..extremely interesting ????
Great place for a peaceful stroll. Loved the educational aspects.
Beautiful trails and gardens.
This one of the best trails in Guelph. I visited this place recently and is so beautiful. Place so quiet and calming. Has lot of trails in this area and those trails are properly marked on the map. Around 15 free parking spots available if you enter from East Ring Rd and then Arboretum Rd. Definitely visit this place again.
This is one of the loveliest places in Guelph. Not only are you free to wander through the grounds, but there are marked paths, an English garden, and a Japanese garden (complete with koi pond). Perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Free parking.
Nicely kept up :)
Such a lovely spot for a meandering walk. Well maintained and clean throughout!
AMAZING place. So many long trails, beautiful fountains, and a little haven away from university. Perfect place for nice slow walks. I still haven't explored it all, and I've been MANY times
Great place to hike or mountain bike
Great lil spot.
Great spot for a walk with your dog
Arguably the most beautiful place to go for a walk in Guelph. The people who maintain the arboretum are world-class. Seemingly every tree, shrub and flower is labeled, there is information everywhere, there are many different types of gardens and hundreds of trails to 'get lost' on. Well worth a hike if you're in the area. Plus, you can then wander onto the University of Guelph grounds, which are also beautiful and full of things to do and see.
Beautiful place to just get lost and enjoy the hidden trails. Tons of natural beauty and wildlife, and conveniently located on the U of G campus.
Great place to go with the kids. The Zen pond has fish in it and the fountain sometimes has tadpoles and frogs. Lots of fun!
Beautiful and peaceful place to visit in all seasons. There’s always something in bloom and something new to discover. I especially like the variety of trees on display throughout the property.
A great place to visit, beautiful gardens, plenty of walking trails. Plenty of parking and this, free.
Watch out for the poisonous plants.
The Arboretum has become our favorite place to visit for beauty and peace. We stumbled upon solo performances by jazz musicians during our last visit.
The prettiest place to visit, put your phone down and take in the beauty
Did our Maternity Photos here and it is such a lovely area. Would come back to visit anytime, if only I loved closer.
Beautiful in the fall. A little early this year for the colours. Will be back for the late fall.
Great bird feeders and labels of trees on trails
Beautiful autumn scenery
The fall colours look absolutely amazing here. There are plenty of benches to sit and read. There are manicured gardens and forests. It's a very peaceful place. People walking dogs, doing photoshoots with the fall leaves and their toodlers/families, friends hanging out on picnic blankets. This is my new happy place. And if you're into trees, they're all labeled. Decent place to go bird watching as well.
Visited this spring on a weekend, large parking, not many people, long walks, lots of flowers and trees to educate yourself and to enjoy, we had a nice picnic with friends and family with dandelions and other flowers blooming all around.
Thank you for paving the road! Making access to enjoying the area much easier
If you are visiting Guelph this is definitely a nice place to visit for a walk in nature or to have a picnic. The trails are easy to walk, and are child/stroller friendly. Also, it is free to visit!!
The benches are in rough shape.
Amazing disc golf course. Free to play just bring a disc. I recommend using the UDisc app.
Great place to walk even in the winter. Lots of dogs (always a plus). Main roads are ploughed but the paths weren't. Not a huge deal, snow was packed down from other hikers. Very nice.
Beautiful set of trails with a mix of sun and shade
It's so open, and peaceful. I especially love the Japanese rock garden.
fabalous memories of my University days
Beautiful and very interesting.
Nice new trails with elevated walkways over ponds. Good botanist as our personal guide
My daughter was one of 11 students who died in the school year while attending the University of Guelph. Such there is tree dedicated to those students and every year we go to visit that tree. For us the Arboretum is a place of sanctuary in peace but even if you haven't lost someone it's a beautiful place to walk I think about how fortunate we are to still take breath.
Awesome fall walk. Plenty of space and interstong pathways.
Went there for some birding. Unfortunately no birds that day but nice place to get back to nature
Good walking trail & learn about world of trees
We attended a wedding at The Arboretum this weekend. The location was beautiful and the windows provided a stunning view of the beautiful snow. Paths were well maintained and easily traversed. The staff did a great job seamlessly flipping the room during the event from the ceremony to reception tables. The waitstaff were well trained and provided an elevated dining experience. We appreciated the accessible accommodations with the back entrance and accessible bathroom in the lower area. Would highly recommend as a wedding location.
Very nice hotel especially the bathroom
Relaxing hikes in a beautiful place
Great place for walking
a beautiful garden filled with nature, would walk here to achieve my daily exercise, and also saw a cute baby skunk :)
Super cool place for a walk. Definitely check it out!
Beautiful trails, gardens and views. Parking is convinient and not to far from the trails. It's a good place for a first date or if you want to kill time. Its very quite so it's quite easy to study as well.
Great place for a walk.
Beautiful Arboretum. Breathe taking greenery, great trails. Beautiful in the fall.
Enjoyed the peacefulness. Saw a beautiful Hawk. Plus couple having wedding pictures done .
Spectacular, what a relaxing asset to to city
A lovely spot to walk and wander with nature! many benches to rest, well kept paths, lovely gardens and easy to park! also free parking, easy access!
Very nice park. Lots of beautiful places to enjoy/explore.
Beautiful location.
Fantastic area. Disc golf course was fun. Hike was great. Beautiful place.
Beautiful large conservation area that has a diverse collection of different trees and flowers.
Finding places to go with my autistic son during the covid era has been a huge challenge. We've visited the Arboretum many times in the last 8 months in rain, shine and snow. It's beautiful in any season, people are friendly and there's always a new area to discover. Even when it's busy it doesn't feel busy. There's plenty of parking and tons of space to wander around and keep your distance from others. We absolutely love the Arboretum!
Such a peaceful and incredibly large space to wander through and discover garden after garden spread throughout the grounds.
Beautiful, peaceful park. Great for a relaxing walk. And it's free!
Fun for geocaching too!
We went on a tuesday Afternoon. It was a very calming and peaceful place. It was interesting to discover non native trees and plants. The Japanese collection of trees were beautiful. You can finish the majority of the park in 1hr 30min, so it's good to have something else planned in the area. The admission and parking are free. It's a great family or date activity. Fyi , the Japanese garden was closed for maintenance right now. Also be careful near the marsh area, it is very buggy even in October. Bring bug repellent.
Great place to go in nature, beautiful ???? trees, trails. Very clean, beautiful bridges. Went to see my husband plaque ( Custom Wallace) with the beautiful tree
I liked it and it is very nice. I did feel it needed a bit more maintenance. I liked the Japanese garden. It was small but I sat there and enjoyed it. It is free. It seems a nice place to walk or exercise near the university.
A magical place even for kids!!
Went for a run here while in Guelph for a week for work. Was a nice break to get away from civilization and the busyness of the day. Seemed to be a lot of trail options, and some nice gardens. Well worth a stop to go for a walk, run or bike.
Even though it was winter, it is a nice place to walk
Great place to visit.
Has a decent 9 hole disc golf course. A nice walking path(crushed gravel and sand) so not too muddy. Allows leashed dogs. Usually has lots of university age people out enjoying the nice weather. Doesnt feel crowded tho. Lots of different types of trees with little signs that explain what they are.
Beautiful place but can use some work plants were kind of dead but everything else was amazing
Great experience every time. Bring my kids here to take leisure walks.
Very picturesque grounds for wedding pics or just family pics , lots of well kept ( maintained ) areas to walk or relax with .
Love this place,. Great park, great idea, magnificent nature. My hat's off to the people who care for, maintain and cherish this place. The eye and soil's delight. The place that you want to return to and stay as long as possible
Beautiful place!
Beautiful tree sanctuary maintained by U of G. It can be busy on weekends but there is room for everyone. Lots of parking, enter off College Ave near Victoria. There is another parking lot near the East Residence.
Beautiful all year round.
Great place to take a walk with friends or alone. Tons of hiking trails. I also love the couple of curated gardens they have on the grounds. The Japanese garden is very neat!
Great for wedding photoshoots!
Solid spot for some easy nature walking though I do wish they'd have more signs for what all the tree species are (at least the ones right off the main trails)
Came here today and were pleasantly surprised at how nice this place was. The gardens and trees were so cool. Lots of different trees and plants I haven't seen before. …
It was beautiful, I want to go back every season.
One of the most beautiful places to visit in any season. A true treasure for this city.
So many different and beautiful species of trees and shrubs to see. Plenty of endangered species that one might find difficult to locate in the wild, so it's nice to be able to see them here. The damage from the emerald ash bore and other invasive pests is also on display; sadly.
Great trails and disc golf
What a nice place to spend a couple of hours for a quiet stroll. No fees, free parking, tranquil gardens. Visited this in early October when most flowers had finished and would revisit later fall when leaves will change colors. Easy stroll on flat paths. We brought a picnic lunch and sat on the benches in one of the many sunny gardens. Very enjoyable! Please note that Due to covid, buildings and washrooms are closed. Only found one outdoor "Johnny on the Spot" toilet, but did not use.
Wonderful place to spend a couple of hours
