Staff SUCKS!!! Was in this afternoon with my son trying to pic a pet and the girl working there was only focused on stocking. Didn’t pay us any mind, one word answers with a rude face. I asked questions, she wasn’t very helpful at all. I DID buy a three level cage and a panda hamster today despite her lousy customer service. Definitely not the kind of person who should be working with animals OR people. Will NOT be going back here. It’s Petsmart in Ottawa for us from now on. For “Pet Universe “ it’s a super small store with higher prices than elsewhere, the least you can do is have friendly helpful staff. ????????

So i am wondering how an animal store like this one can sell a puppie for 3 times the value and get away with it? My wife and children stoped by the store and absolutely fell in love with a puppie in the store. When they asked how much the puppie cost they answered 3200$ plus tax... this dog breed (mixed) would normaly have sold for 1100$... now when i came into the store and ask them why the dog was sold 3 times the price i was told the breeders were charging alot more... i asked the lady how much a workie would sell in there store and she told me 3600$ plus tax.. i then told her that i was in contact with another pet store at that exact time and they had workies for 1700$ plus tax so i asked he why there workies would be twice the price and she started stumbling here words and then tryied again to blame the breaders... from 1 pet store to another for the same bread animal they doubled the price June 2021... they admited to selling dogs twice the price... now the sad thing is i would pay 1600$ - 2000$ for a pure breed puppy or even for a puppy i fall in love with... but in todays market a store like this dosent care that family is heart broken because they cant afford or dont want to pay 3700$ for a puppie... so this is the message that they send.... if your rich and dont care about a dog and just buy it to have it... then we will sell it to you...because its all about the money.. But a family that comes in to there store and makes a very reasonable offer for the dog and want to love it and give it a caring home will not be aloud to purchase it... the worst part is... if in 2-3 weeks the dog isnt sold... (after staying all that time in cages) they will drop the price or send it to a refuge.. or give it away... so my children and wife are heart broken because this store values maximum profit over minimal profit and finding these puppies homes... i would have offered 2000-2500 for this puppie that is not a pure bread... and they wont even hear my offer... Very sad day when the most important thing is money over family and the right to love this animal and care for it..because they double the prices... someone might spend the 3200$ plus tax.. but it still makes me sick to my stomach that Aylmer would alow a store like that to pull this off... Was just I just in this store inquiring about buying a rabbit. I was asking about the temperament of the rabbits before I purchased and was told that I was unable to watch while the worker touched the rabbit Bc “there is a virus and we cannot touch the animals”. I clarified that I didn’t need to touch the rabbit, I just wanted to see the worker interact with it before I purchased to see the temperament and health. I was then told that I was clearly just looking and not buying and that they would not help me Bc they thought I was just “looking to have them touch the rabbit and not buy it”. I’m shocked at the way I was just treated and will never return to this store again. Very sad Bc they are close and I’ve liked having a place to buy supplies in Aylmer.

Alright, love this store and hope it stay's. Although, poorly trained staff or lack of knowledge for animals other than cats/dogs. Almost no care for the animals, I'm sure they do love them, but they seem to know little about the actual needs of a specific animal. Don't remove this. Legit Customer

My girlfriend and I bought a Savannah monitor from them, we were told it was about 2 months old. On the 4th day I noticed his left eye was not a open as it should be. I thought maybe it was from a cricket he ate and figured I would watch him and see what happens. The next 3 days it didn't get better, so I waited until the manager was working and went to let her know that the monitor was not in good health and she said because we had him for 9 days that it was not her problem. He died the next day. The bayshore location had the exact same problem with a Savannah they had about 3 months ago, and he died in store before they sold him.

This place needs to be shut down asap!!! They do not treat their animals right and don’t have the proper enclosures for reptiles. I am not one to buy from pet stores but when I saw a baby bearded dragon that did not have a UVB light and a missing leg, I had to buy him to try and save him. He just got sicker and sicker as the months went by. He was not bred properly and did not receive proper treatment. He ended up dying because there was nothing the vet could do considering his state. He went from being ok to dead in 3 weeks. I am devastated. The staff told me he was healthy. They are not knowledgeable at all on reptiles! Please if you are considering getting an animal, adopt or go on kijiji where there’s plenty of animals being sold and in need of a home. Do NOT buy from this pet store!
