Had a great time visiting here. Reasonably priced and it all goes to the animals and the staff. A nice drive up from San Antonio. I love little towns.

This place was great! We stayed in the cabins and the amenities there are nice. The pool was really nice and clean, park for the kids and the petting zoos are all really fun. Buy a lot of animal food at the gift shop because the animals are …

Went on the recommendation of a coworker. I can't believe I've lived in Austin all my life and have never heard of this place. Purchased the tickets ahead of time along with a bag of food. When we got there, we realized we should of bought more food. That was no problem, ask the staff and they will sell you more feed. The staff was very kind and all wore masks. There was a wait to start the drive but of course we went on a holiday weekend. Once we started we were in animal heaven! Camels were the first to greet us and they were so gentle and sweet. Variety of deer, axis, rams, elk, and others. Zebras were gorgeous but my heart stopped with the Buffalo and Hyland cattle. My truck was full of feed afterward but it was worth it. Make sure to have wipes to clean your hands afterward. I recommend this for anyone who loves animals and in person interactions. Cant wait to go back.

Beautiful animals. Property is in process of development with recently dug watering holes, freshly graded terrain that is in desperate need of grass/plants. Animals well fed and appear pretty happy, except for the escape artists currently being quarantined in small paddocks until they learn to stay in their sequestered areas. Many of the animals know how to milk the tourists for treats and show up voluntarily when caravans tour the grounds. Petting zoo is an added bonus as several animals recently gave birth allowing up close view of the babies. For the size of area for animals to roam, there is a wide variety of animals that seem to all get along with themselves and the humans that care for them. Only thing that could make it better is more plants/grass as it currently looks a bit desolate and animals appear to only have human supplimented feed to consume in 90% of the property.

Stayed in Cabin #8 and it was a great family vacation! Kids had a blast on the swings and playground area in the cabin area, and private petting zoo! Cabin got pretty stuffy when we cooked inside so don’t recommend that since there are no vents through the cabin.

My son loves this places. The petting area and feeding the animals is what he loves the most. The next time you feel like taking a day trip to Johnson City I would recommend this place. If this is your first time pay a little extra and take the tour it’s worth it. We have stayed in our own car and drove through the zoo and it’s not the same. The tour on the tractor is way better. The only complaint I have is it’s a little run down. They charge $8 person for the petting area but I don’t think it’s worth it. This zoo also has a resort but we have not stayed there.

Naveen Gara

Nice and relaxing place. We stayed at one of the cabins for a few days. Cabin was clean and fully functional. Animals in the cabin area will come right up to you and take food nicely.

Let’s start with “what can we do that’s fun and exciting that the kids would want to do that we haven’t done already...?” Sound familiar? Add this to your list of things to do with the family. The staff is welcoming, the animals are adventurous and the hands on and visuals are incredible.... not only do you get to nestle up next to them, you also have the opportunity to feed them. Watch out...., some of those animals have no problem putting their entire head (and horns) in your vehicle... ha ha! It’s true! Don’t be alarmed, a simple raise of the window puts you out of harms way if needed. I highly recommend it for a half day excursion and well worth the trip to get there. Why haven’t you left?

Our day here was even better than I expected! We took advantage of a beautiful January day in the high 70s. We arrived and only waited a few minutes for the guided tour. We got one large bucket of food for all four of us. It was so much fun feeding the animals, we should have gotten two! We were almost out on the last two pens and didn't have any left for the petting zoo. Save some food for them buffalo and cows in the last pen. They are fun to feed! The variety of animals overall was impressive. After the tour, we walked around and visited a large tortoise, pheasants, porcupines, lemurs, and a giraffe! I may have forgotten something. We all had a great time.

This place is spectacular and a great experience for kids (of all ages). Staff is very friendly and treats you like family. Tour through the 5 sections is chock full of information about the animals with ample time to sit and interact (mainly feed) the many species on site. Want to get up close and personal with a zebra? Bison? This is the place! Note: buy one or two buckets of the feed pellets for your trip and remember to ration so that you have feed available all the way through the trip)

Beck Wofford

The drive through and petting zoo was great and you always seen a new animal every where you look. The only complaint I would have made was the amount of dust in the paper bags of feed.

Varsh Ni

Great safe place to take your kids. They are safe in your car for the whole time as it is only a drive through zoo at this time due to covid. You can't ask for a better adventure. The animals are so friendly as you drive through and there are so many of them.

If you have a day off, and you are an animal lover, do yourself a favor and go visit this place! Omg, so.much.FUN!! All 4 (2 adults, 2 kids) of us enjoyed it. We went 1hour before closing and it seemed to be the perfect time. Zero lines, beautiful weather and the animals were so much fun to interact with! Highly recommend buying 1 bag of food per person, so you have plenty for the long route. There are SO many animals eager to get treats, but the camels make this place over the top awesome. I could have spent all day here, and hope to come back to stay in a cabin one day. Literally can't say enough good things. Just hop in the car and go experience this magic for yourself! It is a must do!!

Maria Mikkonen

Awesome place! Better than I was expecting. So many animals. Some ate right from your hands. We all loved it, 88 year old dad, and even a 16 year old.

Florence Rillera

What a wonderful little gem. The animals really so get up close in a "hey! How are you? Do you have some treats" sort of way. The guided your was quite fun. Try it! It's worth the money.

Marissa Boughner

The guided tour is a must, they take you off the regular road to get you closer to the animals for you to feed. Our 2 kids enjoyed it a lot.

We stopped by to check out pricing for the tours and cabins. The owner was extremely nice and gave out all the information willingly that I was after. I loved this place! I felt like a character out of a Disney story as the animals followed along to get snacks from the passengers. Its an easy drive from Austin and for the price of admission I highly recommend it. Make sure to grab a bucket of feed at the counter, but go easy with portions to make it through the whole tour, the ostriches, are big pellet eaters!!!

Ofe Rodriguez

Great place and very friendly staff. Nichole was our guide. We got to go out alone with her and had a blast. My husband fed a camel with his mouth and we got to see the lemurs be fed a banana snack. Definitely go out and support the zoo.

Erik Manning

Really friendly staff at a family-friendly activity. And the best part of this adventure - DOGS ARE WELCOMED! Yes, you read that correct. Our 2-year-old German Shepard did surprisingly well on the tour, only the goats drove her insane, but the camel on site became her new best friend. The reason I went with four stars as opposed to five is the cost. Almost $80 for 4 adults and a bucket of food to feed the animals. The costs are better than Natural Bridge's zoo, but that is still an expensive activity. However, I would return and have recommended the experience to several people since.

We had a GREAT time here. There are tons of animals and the drive is pretty long, we were able to do over an hour which was nice. They are very friendly and looked happy and healthy (which is important). If you take a tall car it may be hard to feed all the deer, we had a sedan and it helped a lot for that. We did get a few small marks from a ram on the car but we didn't see him and that he really wanted the food until we heard him on the car.. definitely could have been avoided.

So much fun and interactivity! Animals have plenty of room to live but are so friendly and come right up to the guests. Much different than a regular zoo and completely worth the experience! Pick a day off good weather when it isn't too hot and grey a big bucket of food - you'll have a blast!

We had such an amazing time celebrating my son's third bday at the Exotic Resort Zoo and stayed at the cabins for 3 days. He was a bit scared the first day, but grew confident over the next couple of days. My favorite animals were the camels and kangaroos! My sons favorite was the "buffalo puffalo". Lots of care for the animals. They look strong and healthy!! Feedback: we stayed at the cabins and they were so charming, but the spring mattresses need to be upgraded! Here is a mum that needs to be able to rest after a full day with with 2 boys and spring matresses won't cut it. It seems the water for the pigs needs to be changed? I saw a bin with clean water but the animals seem to reach for the water that is easier to reach but slightly more dirty. Overall we made amazing memories and will be coming back!!

We paid over $50 to just see mostly deer. The Llamas did come up to the car but the other animals didn't come up to our vehicle when we did the drive-thru.

This place was great! The animals seem to actually be taken care of unlike other safari zoos I've been to. They have a guided tour and our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great time and saw a lot of animals.

Always a great experience, this time around we didn’t get to feed the bison, so that was disappointing but also uncontrollable. Tour guides are always amazing and friendly. Almost never crowded, definitely recommend to anyone wanting to have fun. You won’t get this experience at any other type of zoo, and make sure to buy enough feed so you don’t run out halfway through.

This place was so much fun. I drove out with my daughter and son-in-law and we had a blast. The petting zoo is a great place to introduce kids to feeding some of the animals and getting an up close encounter. They offer a guided tour which looked great, but we decided to drive through on our own. Either way, you can't go wrong spending a few hours here. We got some great videos of our visit and made some really awesome memories. Check online for discounts - they also do a military discount.

WOW!!! The grounds are immaculately maintained. The staff are GREAT! The experience was absolutely fantastic. I brought two autistic adolescents (high functioning), and got nothing but smiles, laughs, and their PLEADS for us to take them back again! I recommend you buy two BIG buckets of feed per person of you like animals...... just so you can have more time with them! Please take your children as they will NOT be disappointed!

Great property with lots of exotic animals. Excellent place to bring the kids of all ages. I recommend staying on site. Gift shop is nice. All animals are petable, feedable and nice except the kangaroos and zebras. 2 nice pools, 5 camp fire areas, a nice up-to-date playground area.. the reason it's not a 5 star review is the quality and cleanliness of the cabin we stayed in. It's extremely outdated and not very clean. It's not filthy in the least, it's just simply not clean to the standards I would like it to be. But other than that, our stay was awesome and we made lots of great memories.

Luke Steinmetz

This place was amazing. Somebody told me about it and I'm so thankful. It's inexpensive and when you get there you can buy a bucket of small or large feed or not at all but then you go on a safari with about 30 other people and feed a range of 600 animals. You can kiss a camel with feed in your mouth and they have water buffalo and ostrich and pretty much any animal you could think of eating out of your hands. What a wonderful experience for a child or adult. The ride takes about an hour and the workers are so knowledgeable about the animals and very kind. Totally recommend!

If I could give this place more stars, I would.! It's a wonderful getaway from the real world. They have over 500 animals that you can feed and get close to, 8 adorable cabins and two swimming pools for those who rent cabins. There's also a petting zoo. We've been three times and will come back for more!

This place is always a great day trip for the family. Less than an hour and a half drive. Now due to the COVID-19 restrictions, you get to drive through in your personal vehicle and do not ride the little "tractor-trailer" like Pre-Covid 19 days. Online tickets are contactless and required. We did not know this prior to this trip today and we were allowed to buy our tickets at the drive up. Make sure you buy the bags of food because unlike some of the other animal safari places, these animals do come up to feed and eat. We bought 4 bags of feed for $6 a bag and it was well worth it and plentiful. We came in the late afternoon and just need to figure out to come early or later due to the traffic and the ebb and flow. People would stop and stay stopped for long long periods of time. I was happy to see the lady on the 4 wheeler come and scooch people along. If you do not know, there are animals to feed all through the park, so I will attribute this to them now knowing and being excited that the animals came to eat and staying parked with the animals that do come up to feed. We still had a blast, it was still fun, and our kids love coming here and they're teens. We've been coming for a few years now and they still enjoy it. The camels are cool and are super friendly. We like the Buffalo/Bison, with the follow up of ostriches and emus. The ostriches and emus feed aggressively and will yank your feed bag out of your hands just like the buffalo will if you're not careful and holding the bag tightly. So make sure if you're children are little they're pre-pared for the excited feeding "frenzy." Lol. Some of the larger mule deer, and even the camels also eat in the same fashion. Due to COVID-19 Restrictions, kissing the camels is not encouraged. Just kidding. Lol. The petting zoo, sadly, is still closed and the cabins are really popular and we were unable to rent one this summer. Log onto the website and sign up for updates and specials. You won't be disappointed!!

This is a great activity for the family, especially during Covid times. My kids (6 &13) absolutely loved the up close interaction of feeding the animals. Some of them are quite the characters, as you can see in the pictures. We have been to the resort in the past (pre-covid) and it was fun, but being in our own car might have been even better. We took self guided tour, so basically we drive our car at our leisure through the safari. They have guided tour which you need to book in advance. It was a wonderful experience feeding and watching these animals up choose. Especially Zebra because in a zoo you don't get to go so close to them. Word of caution, when you plan to feed animals with horn keep them a bit far to your car because they will cause scratch on the car. I got couple of them on my car. I loved watching the ostrich up close, since i have watched them always from a distance. Don't miss you so at the cabins in the safari because they have kangaroos near the cabins so if you are taking self guided tour then you might miss them. The petting zoo is where the kids enjoy alot. Don't forget to pick up the feeding packs. The park is clean and well maintained. For more info on hours of operating and guided tour visit their website.

What an absolute blast, all the animals are super friendly. Beautiful place and the animals are super well cared for. Pro tip: don’t wash your car before you go and don’t wear you Sunday best ????. Make sure to stop by the petting zoo as well which is included in your admission. It was super hot the day we were there so we were definitely happy we chose to take our own vehicle through to blast the AC.

A super positive place that is good for kids and parents. Tip: take a guided tour. It is the same price as on your car, but it is much more fun.

This is a fun day trip from Austin with kids! The staff is really friendly, and they've figured out how to make this work even with social distancing. You drive your own car through the wildlife area, which takes about an hour. During that time, you'll encounter dozens of deer, emus, ostriches, bison, goats, camels, and zebras. The animals are just looking for a hand out (literally), and they'll go right up to your car! All in all, highly recommend if you love animals.
