Wow what an amazing zoo!! This zoo is by far my favorite zoo that I have ever visited. The variety of animals and reptiles are very good. The bird exhibits are fabulous. I would go every month if I lived in AZ. They really do a wonderful job at this zoo.

The zoo is pretty good and well maintained, some of the sections are closed probably due COVID. Construction is in progress in some of the areas of the zoo and it would be even better after the construction. There are a lot of animals to see, tiger and lion being the most in demand. I won’t mind having another visit here.
We visited the Phoenix Zoo for the annual Zoolights! While you don't get to see any animals, the lights are very festive and quite the spectacle. There was a wonderful sound and synchronized light show over the water and a big university marching band rounded out the evening!

We went at night to see the Phoenix Zoo Lights which was absolutely beautiful. Each year around Christmas time they decorate the various plants, shrubs, and trees with beautiful lights.
I took my wife to see ZOO Lights and the traffic was horrible! There were Police Officers, ZOO Employees, and Volunteers directing traffic flow. Very crowded! Lots of people here! No one was wearing a mask! But, it’s an outside event and there are no mask mandates here so people don’t need to wear a mask! Don’t you hate wearing a mask? It’s $20 a ticket to enter Zoo Lights. Beautiful Light Displays! The Cafe and Snack Area’s are expensive! This is a Big Lights Display! Lots of paths and walk ways! Plenty of benches and chairs. But, the benchers and chairs especially the ones bye the lake we’re all taken because of how busy it was! I was trying to take some good pictures. But, people where in the way and taking forever to take there pictures! There is a Camel Ride and some animals outside to see. You exit thru the Gift Shop. The Gift Shop is a little expensive! Great place to bring a family or a date

We went to the Phoenix Zoo for their yearly “Zoo Lights” display and we were not disappointed!! The lights and the light show on the lake were pretty amazing! We enjoyed all of the lanterns depicting wildlife and flowers, cacti, insects, etc. We noticed that there were plenty of food stands selling snacks and drinks. The zoo was very busy, and we had to park a little bit far away from the entrance, but it seemed that inside the zoo, it wasn’t too crowded. There were camel rides and horseback rides for the kids, too. We walked around for about 2 hours, but the entire display could probably be seen in an hour or 90 minutes, if you feel hurried for some reason. I would recommend taking the entire family and taking your time. It is a unique experience, and very much worth the $20 entrance fee, which includes parking.
We bought a membership at the beginning of the year and love it. 2nd time we went this weekend and the weather was perfect. The parking lot was packed and we did have to walk a ways to enter the zoo but wasn't so bad. Inside it wasn't as packed as you would think. There was a closure on the park path but we planned our visit accordingly and were still able to see the entire zoo in the time we were there. We will definitely be back a couple more time to enjoy it. Totally recommend buying a membership instead of paying for a trip, you wont regret it especially if you love the zoo!

This was a really nice zoo. Layout was good and easy to walk around. Really nice landscaping and the animals were great.

We had fun running/walking around and seeing all the different animals. The only thing that really upset me was the waste of the paper and Ink being used at the camel area. The pictures that were being taken were being Automatically printed out and if you didn't pay for them they put a big black X through them. I think they should have a computer to show you your photos and if you would like them, then yes print them but not have it automatically printing. ???? just a waste other then that I love the Zoo. Sad that my membership ends on the 31st.

3 years a go I gave 4 stars. I’m gonna give 3 stars because my 3-year-old grandson had fun. It was boring for the rest of us. A lot of the exhibits were empty without a sign. Took my grandson to show him the elephant ???? because wildlife doesn’t have one and still there was no elephant this Saturday. Very disappointed of how much walking one has to do and empty exhibits. Food is expensive and bland.

I went at 930am on a Friday. Not sure what was going on but all the animals were sleeping. Seemed like they were on drugs. It was the most quiet zoo I've ever been to. They didn't even seem to have many animals. Very disappointing. Seems like they are more focused on zoo lights. We did see a 1 zebra, 1 elephant and a flock of flamingos. Hopefully it will be better next time.

We had been to the zoolights festival and it was pretty fun. It was mostly trees decorated in lights, and animals in light structures. I think they had removed the original animals to another place. Main entrance ticket was $20/person. There was camel rides available for $7/person. For food: there were some burgers, kettle corn, hot cocoa with marshmallow n whipped cream, hot coffees, beer available. If you have a free night available, would definitely recommend this place.
We like to come to the Phoenix zoo. We have been coming for years. The animal exhibits are a little more spread out than some other zoos I have been to which makes for more walking but the exhibits are very well done. We just did the Phoenix zoo Christmas lights and it was very well done. I would say it is pricey for our whole family though so it is probable that we will enjoy our one time doing it and not go again.

Zoo Lights is an affordable experience for the family this year. Be sure to buy tickets online to save the time of waiting in line. They do serve alcoholic beverages as well as soft drinks, water, and hot coco. kettle corn, pretzels, and all the classic snack foods. Warning if you get there after the zoo's parking lot has filled you are directed to another lot and there is a fair amount of walking from the lot to the zoo. Love the light show they play throughout the evening.

A well laid out and thought out Park. Clean environment and friendly employees. Next time I'm in Phoenix I will definitely stop. Turtles and tortoises are my favorite animals and they had four different exhibits and that was absolutely amazing. All of the exhibits were nice though. On the day I visited the rhino seemed really happy.

We had such a nice day at the zoo! It was very well kept and we got to see a wide variety of animals. Didn’t see any elephants which was disappointing. Also their food courts were closed and there wasn’t many options to eat or drink while there.

What a beautiful zoo... Where from the Bay area in California and we have a zoo as well... But it's not this clean and it's not this well taken care of... I have hip problems so I rode one of the fun rideables that they have... Just enjoyed myself thoroughly with my granddaughter...
What an amazing zoo. Make sure to plan 5+ hours to see everything. There were three of us, two adults and a 16 year old, and we literally read every sign. We didn't do any of the activities, that could take you another hour easy.

I went to take my two year old son to the zoo, and he absolutely loved it. I definitely recommend taking a stroller to help carry necessities and snacks, and also bring your own water because everything inside is a bit pricey. The zoo itself has a great variety of animals and lots of activities to do with the family. The zoo currently closes at 4pm and zoolights is later on.

I took my dad for ZooLights and we had an INCREDIBLE time! It was my first time to this zoo and I had no idea how big it was and the large variety of lights they had! We started pulling up to the parking area about 30 minutes after opening and all the signs said the main parking lot was full so we parked in the overflow parking. I was extremely disappointed to find out there was plenty of parking in the main lot. But it was not too far away of a walk. However, it did seem inaccurate. The lights were so neat! We also saw some of the real life animals like rhino, eagle, etc. There was a light show in the central area that was orchestrated nicely. I had read prior to getting tickets that the music was not consistently working the night before. While I was there, I noticed it was not 100% but still good enough to feel the Christmas spirit while being there. I would definitely recommend ZooLights! Super fun and interactive activity!

We love the zoo for a fun get away with the kids and we are so glad they finally opened up the petting zoo area again! It's a pretty big zoo with lots of walking so your littles will be tired by the end so bring a stroller for those that can't make it the whole way. Also be aware that any of the extra things like riding the camel, feeding the giraffes, and the manta ray experience costs extra. You can bring your own food inside which can help save a little money.
We really enjoyed ourselves. Very clean, lots of room for the animals and people. Fun interactive things like the tram tour and feeding and petting the sting rays! We bought the family pack to be able to go again and again!!

Super fun zoo! It’s really big so get ready to walk. They do rent strollers, wheelchairs and scooters. Adults only took us about 2 hours, with kids it probably would be longer. It’s Hot, make sure you dress accordingly and bring water. Lots of little snack bars and cafes across the park. Lots of benches and resting areas with picnic tables.
4 stars bc they started getting animals back inside before 5 pm on Saturday to rush people out of zoo. Not cool! Lol but I loved the animals!
This was a good place to spend the day with the children. The animals were not extremely active, but they were not hiding either. I wish they still had paper maps because the map on the phone is too small to use easily.
We have had a membership for nearly 6 years. It's great to have flex adult so.you can do play dates. It also allows up to 4 kids which is nice. Kids always love it and are never bored with it. We go about 1x a month. While we wish there were more exotic animals it's nice being able to bring in your own food and make the day out.ofmit. The parking can be rough so get there early especially on holidays. There is a petting zoo and some rides and playground lots.of activities. Bring in your wagon or stroller if you have Littles. They also serve beer and Starbucks. Don't forget the Wallace and Ladmo statue!
The animals were well taken care of. The temps for the day were in the low 70's, so many animals were a bit more active. I enjoyed experiencing this zoo as it was like no other that I had been to before.

I took my 8 year old son here for zoo lights the cost was 25 dollars per adult of purchased online he really enjoyed it, they have a camel ride he loved the displays look very good. FYI not all of the zoo is open for this event probably less than half and due to it being at night the animals mostly are hiding or asleep, but it’s still a fun experience.

I got our tickets off of Groupon, thank goodness cause the prices are high to get in for just a day but a plus with getting them on Groupon was we didn’t have to wait in a line to purchase our tickets we could just walk right in. I suggest if you are going early bring snacks. 1- because the food is way over priced 2- they don’t open any stands till 11am and not all the stands get opened. Had a great time though. Lots of walking.

Great place for a walk and the occasional wild animal sighting. Hadn't been, in a little over 10 years. The improvements, since last I went, were very impressive. The carousel was our favorite. The size and variety of animals available was very unique.

We loved the zoo. We really felt like this zoo stood out because they seem to care a lot about their animals. The have rehab facilities and sanctuaries for injured and affected animals. So much variety including desert variety. We loved it due to the children friendly atmosphere and food options. Although we didn’t eat, there were many options and attractions available. Would recommend to families as a half day activity or full day activity. We loved the petting zoo and the farm animal attractions. Bummer that the giraffes were closed but understandable.

Good zoo with a lot of interactive features for kids. Gets very busy during weekends in the winter, so come prepared. Try getting there early or arriving after 1:00 pm to navigate the crowds. Lines are long for food, so bring snacks. Also, bring your walking shoes because parking can be a bit of a challenge as well. Very helpful staff and volunteers willing to answer questions or talk about the exhibits. #MilitaryDiscpunt

Fun! Lots of Animals to see, including people in their family groups! Coffee. Gift shop! A super busy half day with a toddler unless you rent the rideable thingies. This is probably best planned as an all day picnic so you have time to see everything. Epic. One of the best zoos on the planet. ????

Monkey village is closed until further notice. I guess because of covid I'm assuming. Yet they have everything else opened including the petting zoo although they only allow a certain amount of people in at a time it looked like. $29 a person. $10 a person on Sundays if you have an EBT card and ID: up to 4 admissions. Over all we had a great time but I really wanted to show my boyfriend monkey village as he loves those little monkeys so that was too bad.

Very big zoo, we weren't able to see the whole thing just because of the heat but they let you bring in water bottles/coolers, there's a splash pad to cool off in if you bring bathing suits, and there are plenty of exhibits to look at and enjoy. Definitely will be back to finish exploring the rest of the zoo.

I went to ZooLights with my kids & grand daughter at the Phoenix zoo. It's been several years since I've been to the zoo. I don't really like zoo's in general because I think it's cruel to keep wild animals contained in small enclosures. That said, zoolights was just ok. We had a good time walking around and the lights were absolutely beautiful, but it's over priced to get in at $20. Per person and it was extremely crowded. They were selling hot chocolate, for $5. for a small cup, add a buck if you want whipped cream and another buck if you want marshmallows. Sorry but it's just hot chocolate, lower the price to $3. I noticed that they've redesigned the exit from the zoo. Now you have to go through the gift shop in order to leave, so I'm sure parents of small kids just love hearing their kids cry for an overpriced souvenir on their way out. Overall we did have a good time walking around but the exorbitant cost to go is just too much

We have yearly passes to the Phoenix Zoo. It is worth buying the passes to not feel rushed. I'm the summer it is quite a toasty trek, but in the other seasons it is beautiful. Our most recent visit it was raining and it was the best trip we have had so far to this zoo! Absolutely stunning and made the entire zoo walkable for us that day. Usually I would recommend a few days/trips to see everything though. The tram is worth riding, especially in the middle or at the end of your trip when you may wish to sit and relax for a bit. The staff is always friendly. And Christmas lights are better than any other zoo we have been to. On a hot day, make sure to take your kids to the splash pads. They help cool you down for the rest of your trip and the one in the middle of the zoo has a fun cave. Our family highly recommends the Phoenix Zoo!
