It is better if you have binocular to see bisons from distance. Only issue is distance and road condition.

If you plan try to find a bison that can be a good journey. However I have to advise you that the Bison aren't interested in pose to photos, so, maybe you can't find them. Be prepared to aproximately 30km clay road. You can go to Lake Audy, a beatiful place and an amazing sunset.

Park staff recommended going at dusk. We didn't expect to see much. We were wrong, in the right place at the right time many of the Buffalo crossed the road right by my car. Super cool experience!

Awsome place, worth the drive from Winnipeg if you want to see bison in their natural habitat. Also a bit scary when they look you in the eye.

Quite a bit of a drive from Riding Mountain park and it's not guaranteed that you'll see a Bison when you get there. We have to go back again to see those magnificent creatures. You might need to have a good camera to capture good quality pictures of the Bisons since they are not always near the road and you can't go out of your vehicle.

Great! The bison were tough to find. I think they were in the central enclosure. We saw two adults and their baby head into the forest, and when we came back realized the whole herd was there. They were only 10 feet in, but so hard to see (see photos). They did end up coming back out in front of us. I think because the enclosures are so large, and there is so much forest, you may not always find them... Makes you think that if these massive animals can hide in plain sight, are there more black bears right around the corner?

As a family we've gone several times and didn't see any Buffalo. This last time was so great, got stuck in the middle of a heard crossing the road.

We went there in the end of May. We knew that the best time to see the wildlife is either in the early morning or in the evening but went there around 11amish and we had no lucks to encounter any animals. Highly recommend to go there earlier like by 9am or just before sunset.

Quite a bit of driving from Wasagaming, close to Lake Audy. We haven't met any bisons, unfortunately, just their poop. They are mostly active early morning and evenings, we visited that place about 4 pm. Our mistake. We saw several bear's instead on our way back to our camp.

We stumbled across this while just out for a drive. We were able to see a herd of 20-30 from the road but they were a fair ways off and then this straggler came by. It was a nice find, but not sure I'd have made the trip specifically for this. I think we were lucky to see them at all on a hot July day in the middle of the afternoon.

My family has had great experiences visiting the bison here. A lot of reviews mention that it is difficult to see Bison in the afternoon, but that is the only time we have ever been there, and we have always seen them. Only once (out of 4) have we not seen them on the road. The drive there is mostly on gravel roads. There are 2 routes you can take. One is the Lake Audy Rd that begins in Onanole. The other is still Lake Audy Rd., but just past the Clear Lake Golf Course. The latter is a road that is a bit narrower and with more twists and turns. The Onanole route seems to be faster. There is a covered shelter that overlooks the enclosure, but we have never actually seen the Bison from here. It is a nice place to stop to have lunch or a snack. There is also a bathroom there as well. We recently discovered the camping area near Lake Audy, and next time we would stop there for lunch because that area overlooks the lake and has a very small playground for kids.

It's about 24 km drive on a gravel road off from the paved road (hwy10). Some areas are bit rough, and 60 km/hr speed limit may not be practical for most part of the drive. So drive time may vary. It is a unique experience in Manitoba unless you have been to Yellowstone and seen lots of bisons. Also came across a moose in the middle of the road, totally unexpected. We didn't have cameras ready to capture images fast enough. Watch out for wild life along the way... Some people speed through this stretch like a Baja rally. You may want to keep a distance if you want to get a glimpse of wildlife/scenary.

We went twice, the 11am visit, bison were at a distance, next day at 2pm bison crossed right in front of us. It was awesome!!
