Great place to explore with kids

Love this place! They rescue and rehabilitate animals to be re-released if at all possible. A wonderful spot to walk around and visit a variety of birds including eagles and also bears, etc. They have the largest indoor sanctuary for eagles in Canada (I believe). It's great to support this local facility.

Thats a real bear people! Made of 100% bear. Did you know that the Barn owl's favorite food is a mixture of the souls of its vanquished prey and nougat? When they say 'and more' they mean it. Really prolific vibrations abound. The aura of the turkey vultures is absolutely massive. Is there a word for nostalgia when it is experienced in concert with novelty?

A must visit for nature and animal lovers. I had long conversation with the gardener who taught me the importance of feeding the lower food chain, and the dragonfly life cycle. Lots of birds here, and some don't even have cage wire for viewing - wow!

A magical and beautiful place with well-cared for animals. It was inspiring to see the legacy of community and donors and to read the storied history. Had some extra special moments with two ravens up close. Must be amazing in warmer weather but we had a great time despite it being a bit chilly.

This property lends itself well to social distancing. Visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was quite quiet. Some areas of the property were busy but we were able to wander and avoid congestion. Masks not mandatory in the outdoor areas but we opted to wear ours throughout the experience.

I really enjoyed my time here! At first it looked small, but we spent a good amount of time here and had a great time. I really loved the displays just as much as seeing all the rescued animals. There are many different types of birds, as well as a bear and some bear cubs! It's always nice to visit these.types of facilities to see the amazing work they do to help wildlife. We visited Vancouver Island from Toronto and we were looking for something to do out in this area. Such a nice experience!

Lots of birds of prey, ducks, and a few bears. Some talks from people holding glove trained birds. Mostly outdoors. There's a nice picnic area and a short walk around a lake with ducks and turtles. Good place to spend an hour or two with the little ones and learn about wildlife in our area.

The location size is deceiving, it's HUGE on the inside. It was nice to learn about how all the animals ended up here and getting to see them relatively close was pretty cool. The only draw back was it was difficult to watch the black bear being fed.

Seriously so beautiful. Well kept, lots to see. You could spend a few hours here no problem. Sad to see the stories behind some of the animals but so rewarding to hear they have managed and are succeeding with the help of the crew here. Can't say enough good. You should definitely stop in 15 per adult and 6 for kids... Very worth it. Has many areas to sit and enjoy, I'd say bring a snack or lunch and have lunch while watching the turtles ????

Ferrets should not be housed alone,outdoors,without toys or time to play outside.They should stick to wildlife.Also not responsible to trap feral cats and dump them in the bush on other side of town when there are feral cat rescues out there.

Supporting Local Business Tour: This is a hidden gem and I am glad that I finally made the visit with the family today. The kids had great time checking out the wildlife and learnt about them through the signs explaining why individual animal stay with the centre. And the centre's garden and other landscape decor were all great to take photo with. Highly recommended if you see this post and has yet to bring your family and friends for a visit.

Perhaps the exhibitions and animals during the daytime are attractive. But the night of Lights event was so disorganized and the shuttle wait was ludicrous and Not wheel chair accessible . Tickets had to be picked up In advance. Incrediably inconvenient event and a waste of time and energy. Find something better for Christmas outing.

Took our almost two year old out to visit this wonderful little place last week. One of the volunteers, Charlotte, had stopped by the shop and encouraged us that it would be a good environment for our young man. It was indeed a wonderful place to take our son. He loved the whole experience. It is important to keep in mind this is NOT a petting zoo and best to keep those little fingers out of reach of all the wonderful raptors and animals. I loved the little cards that told us why the animals/birds were at the rescue and how long. A great learning experience. Will happily recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and outdoor learning experience with their littles.

This place was outstanding! We were bored one day and figured we would check it out. I honestly didn’t have high hopes - but was I ever blown away. My kids had such a fun day checking out the animals. We saw a few owls going for walks and we got to watch the bears swim in their tub. There’s a fun little rock/cave structure the kids will enjoy playing on and in while you have a bit to eat. The taxidermy inside the museum isn’t that good - but I found it quite humorous.

When I was there it was dark. It was for their Christmas event. The laser light show was amazing. It was a dazzling experience. Volunteers and staff were really friendly and helpful. Great gift shop. Nice entry room with taxidermy animals and water features. The grounds have a walk way and garden area. Other times of the year they have injured animals on site that they are helping. Mostly birds. Not much to see during the rest of the year but it's still an enjoyable place.

An afternoon here is always an afternoon well spent. Even in winter! Lots of ravens, owls, hawks, eagles, ducks, turkeys, doves, etc to watch do their thing, as well as bears! And the largest bunny I've ever seen. Beautiful gardens and intricate driftwood structures/facades. I keep going back for more! Was an inexpensive and entertaining afternoon looking at and learning about how the center is helping and rehabilitating a vast array of locally.found animals. You'll get a good look at many raptors and depending what else is in the center you'll get pretty close to the black bear and others also. Lots of taxidermy examples of these when you first walk in also which is neat, and you may get a look at some of the staff helping some new arrivals also. Also have a nice garden and forest at the back are of the park to enjoy. Over all was worthwhile, was great for the younger kids.

Walking around this place kept me in "Awe" the whole way through. The different wild birds and animals were wonderful to see and even talk to them. They all have names and information at their station for a person to read about why that bird/animal got to the recovery centre. There are so many plants and venues to go through as well. I totally loved seeing the big turtles at the pond which was so well situated. Lots of Eagles, Ravens, Doves, Turkeys, Silky Chickens, a Bear was there... it was so cute to watch. The Centre has a store when you first arrive and there are many interesting items there as well. You can stay for hours. Well the four of us that went there took two and a half hours about to go through the Centre...

We drove out from Toronto and upon passing by this place we had to stop in for a visit. Right from when you purchase the low admission price, you can tell you are about to embark into a professional organization. The amount of different species they have, the enclosures that are beautifully appointed, the well groomed paths and information tags, all well done. There is certainly a lot of effort put in by staff and volunteers as anyone who is free walking the grounds is more than happy to greet you and answer any questions. I would gladly visit time and time again to support this fantastic wildlife center. If you had any doubts about going, trust me you wont be disappointed

Excellent place to take children, they won't stop talking about it. Wild animals (mostly various birds like owls, ducks, ravens, falcons, vultures, etc), bears, turtles and rabbits up close. Interesting facts to go along with them. My toddlers loved the museum of taxidermied animals and fossils. An owl and a raven were taken out so visitors could see them up close. There was also a very informative presentation on an owl (though I think it changes each time). My toddlers had difficulties following along but there's a huge field and a rock cave/tunnel to climb on right next to the seating area! All the staff we met were extremely nice and knowledgeable. It is not a zoo and you can't pet the animals but I like it better this way. Cute gift shop at the entrance/exit. My only complaint is that some of the bird enclosures (like the Peregrine's) were small.

This is a wonderful place for rescued wildlife. The staff were friendly and the facilities were very well kept. Highlights included the eagle flight viewing area, the birds of prey area, the Indigenous dug out canoe, the fairy garden, and the gift shop. Educational information is dotted around the grounds. The kids and grown ups enjoyed this experience. It is a stop worth visiting.

(Translated) It was so good I visited because I could see a bear, but the bear was far away and could not be seen. Nevertheless, the visit made me aware of how Canadian and wildlife were rescued and what needs to be improved. Most of them were birds, and each animal cage had a name and was able to get to know them one by one. It's backed by Rush, giving you confidence in the facility and you can do it if you want! Depending on the timing, you may or may not be able to see the animals come out and sunshine, but I think it's enough to just look closely at the wild animals and our admission fee. You can go to the zoo with your children and share more than just see animals that are sick in mind and body! There's plenty of shelter too, so it's a good idea to draw in the middle of the animals, play games, or just relax! recommendation!! (Original) 너무 좋았다. 곰을 볼 수 있다하여 방문했지만, 곰은 멀리 있어 잘 보이지 않았다. 그럼에도 이 곳을 방문한 덕분에 캐나다에 사는 동물과 야생동물이 구출하게 된 과정, 그리고 어떤 것들이 개선되어야 하는지 알게 되었다. 대부분 새가 많았고, 각 동물우리마다 이름이 붙어있었고 그들을 하나하나 꼼꼼히 알아갈 수 있었다. 러쉬의 후원을 받고 있어, 시설에 대해 신뢰감이 생기며 원한다면 후원도 할 수 있다! 타이밍에 따라 동물들이 나와서 볕을 쬐는 것을 가까이 볼 수도 있고 없을 수도 있지만, 야생동물을 가까이 보는 것만으로 그리고 우리 입장료가 후원금이 된다는 것으로 충분하다 생각된다. 아이들과 동물원에 가서, 몸과 마음이 아픈 동물을 보는 것보다 더 많은 것을 나눌 수 있다! 쉼터도 충분히 존재하여, 동물을 보면서 중간에 그림을 그리거나 게임을 하거나 여유롭게 시간을 보내도 좋겠다! 추천!!

It was very enjoyable and educational, especially the knowledgeable staff who were always around to help with questions. The kids loved it! It was also very gratifying to see that hurt animals or abandoned, were treated with great respect due to the staff, and the many volunteers who obviously have put in a multitude of hours to care for the animals and keep this place running. I hope they keep this shelter open as long as possible to continue the fantastic job they have dedicated their time. Well done!

A very unique experience. You can learn about a wide variety of local animals. There are a lot of live animals on display, as well as a mini museum with stuffed specimens. They periodically release animals that have been rehabilitated. I was fortunate enough to attend the release of a bald eagle.

Amazing experience, great place to take the kids. Very educational. Would definitely recommend. Bigger than it looks from the outside with lots of neat different locations and enclosures. Highlights include the bear enclosures, indoor bird of prey flight zone, and numerous other outdoor animal enclosures and a lane full of fish and turtles.
