REVIEWS OF Canada Agriculture and Food Museum IN Cornwall

Thomas von Moos

Great for the kids. They have daily activities and lots of different animals. The hosts seen to be a favourite. The new Canola exhibit really just feels like some sort of propaganda campaign by the canola industry though. Skip through that and go see the tractor exhibit in behind. Spring is a great time to go when all the baby animals are born.

Pravesh Sharma

Nice place to spend a couple of hours with kids. My daughter liked watching farm animals and playing with them. Not much crowded , enough parking space available. Beautiful garden and nice location .

Brittney & Rocco Micucci

Great please for kids. Walking areas are all paved and concrete and the whole facility is very clean. Lots of animals and you get right up close to them. Very informative too if you read everything. They have a play structure and outdoor eating areas. They also have an indoor eating area with a vending machine. There is a chip wagon on site.

Ella Fontaine

Family friendly environment - my 3 year old sister had a complete ball here. Fun and interactive, you can pet the animals. I really enjoyed my time spent with the calfs, they were so soft and sweet. I bonded with Karalika. The staff is helpful too.

Mohanjit Singh Grewal

A lot of fun for the kids!

Lanqing Irena Qin

Would love to come back time and time again (despite its location to which public OC Transpo routes can hardly access) !! It offers such a great opportunity to embrace the nature and spend quality time with those adorable creatures! Nearby there’s also great little gardens that brighten the summer views!

Claire F.

We had a great time visiting the museum. It was an eye opening experience for us seeing how the farm works and we learned to make fresh butter from whipping cream. I'll definitely visit again.

S. Edan

Great place for toddlers. Decent amount of animals. Wish there was a place to eat or drink. If there was it wasn't easy to find.

Jean-Francois

Great museum and actual farm with all the classic barnyard animals. Great for kids of all ages. Lots of baby animals too - we even saw a day old calf! A must!

Mélissa-Sophie Pesant

I went over Thanksgiving weekend. It was a real pleasure to go there. There wasn't too many people. There's many animals and there was plenty of activities for the kids. I've enjoyed seeing the small piglets (only couple of days). Price isn't too bad, but it isn't cheap. It was really informative and there was many plants. It's a great way to feel on the countryside, without ever leaving the city.

Cihangir Demirkol

Enjoyed with the kids. There is plenty of information about food comes on our tables. You can spend whole day!

Alicia Isnor

My kid loves animals. (Let's be honest. I also love animals.) They have sheep, goats, pigs, a bull, a huge Clydesdale, and an entire herd of dairy cattle. They have a beehive in glass. In the spring they have baby animals. There are bathrooms for diaper changes. I believe there are handwashing stations in all of the barns. You can bring a stroller between buildings but not inside them. It can be muddy, so wear boots.

Aaron Bruce

Great place for younger kids. In addition to animals they have a play structure , play kitchen, demonstration kitchen and more.

Tedra Leroux

We got during the halloween season every year for the past 3 years. Lots of educational things to learn, great animals to see (I love the calves ????), and fun dance party for the kids (and a haunted house for those brave).

Benjamin Sweett

Enjoyable if the weather is nice. I found it was very much geared towards children. Still fun to see all the farm animals up close and they had a few shows and demonstrations worth seeing. Would be a nice touch to add horseback riding or tractor tours of the farm.

Elizabeth Kingsbury

Amazing working farm right in the city of Ottawa. Animals are very well treated here. Great place to bring children to teach them about animals. Very kid friendly and children love this farm! Super reasonably priced, so all can afford. Used to go here OFTEN when my daughter was little. Now my niece goes here with her daughter! Highly Recommend!! ❤️ ????????????????????????????

Robin de Bled

A truly fantastic experience for children and adults alike. There's enough here that's genuinely interesting at an adult level that it's worth visiting just to learn about farming and the food production industry. But of course the real fun is with kids who get a chance to see farm animals up close and personal. It's an pretty amazing thing to have right in the middle of the city. Well worth the visit.

John Day

Great for kids and easily accessible. We have membership pass and this is a great way to spend a couple of hours. We saw horses, donkeys, cows, Yamaha, ducks, chickens and pigs! Very educational for the little ones and you can bring your own food and drink making it a cheap option if looking to save some money. Can't wait till it's summer again to make the most of the layout.

Bruce Samhaber

I only used the public washroom recently, which is open all year around. Great location on running routes. The actual museum is great for kids to see farm animals in the barns. Has an outdoor playground for kids.

C Bou (Chanti_luxe)

We hosted our sons birthday party there and had a fantastic time. We got to pet and interact with animals and the employee doing the tour and party was super helpful and patient with the children. Would definetly recommend it. We were all very happy with our experience

Meaghan Piccolo

Really great for kids! This museum has animals to pet and attractions that will probably appeal more to the little ones (though who doesn't love petting animals). There is a beautiful garden on the property they often host events that are fun for all ages, so there's still enough for adults to enjoy this museum too.

Loïc Berthou

Always a treat with the kids, they love seeing the animals up close. Horses, cows, lambs, alpaca, bunnies and rabbits... Easter weekend was especially fun with all the baby animals and other activities.

Nicholas-Marc Ryan

We had our wedding here. The meadow was beautiful and the cereal barn was perfect for the reception. Everyone had a great time. The animals and the gardens made for great photo oportunities. I would definitely recommend this place for wedding especially for the price.

Gailene Green

I love the Agriculture Museum. Great place for a picnic, to play, see farm animals and learn about life on the farm. Every needs to bring their kids here... they'll LOVE it!!! And the Arboretum and Ornamental gardens are fabulous for walking, meditation and relaxation. Accessible by bicycle, walking or car... but the pay parking can be limited and there is no free parking.

Lisa Lovell

My daughter is animal obsessed, so this was a great day out for our whole family! They have lots of demonstrations, and kid friendly, educational activities. Definitely recommend going in the spring of you want to see babies!

Brandon Stackhouse

Was expecting more for adults and about actual crop data. Would have been nice to have some history as well

Claudio Gondo

Awesome museum where we can pet the animals and there's an ice skating rink available during the winter

Kelledstyle Blog

Among the numerous museums in the city, I found relevant to visit the Canadian Museum of Agriculture and Food since food is one of our most pressing concern in life. At the Learning Center, there are two interesting ongoing exhibits. The first one is a temporary exhibition about the native plants of Canada. It is actually a portrait exhibit and there is no information about the usage or the medicinal benefits of the plants. The second exhibition is permanent and brilliantly features the method of food preservation from back in the days until now. Find more pictures on my Instagram (kelledstyle) and more info on my blog :-)

Kevin Mackie

Great museum for kids. It is very interactive. There are many great exhibits and animals that you can learn about. There is an outdoor play area for kids to play on and a picnic area to have an outdoor lunch. Thre are a few special shows throughout the day where you can learn about special care of animals or cooking.

Steven Miller

Took my son here for the first time and he seemed to enjoy looking at all the animals he has not seen yet.

Len Fardella

It's just spectacular in the spring as the flowers start to bloom. Right now we're just at the beginning of peonies season. There is paid parking which goes to supporting the gardens. And short walk takes you to the agricultural buildings and across the street is the Arboretum.

Naomi Suniva

As a kiddo, I used to have a membership to this awesome museum. I think I grew up to be a quality human; and so, I believe you should all bring your kids to this stellar knowledge-enhancing site. Ps, the ice-cream making activity is a very good one. Good job.

Lewelyn Lee

We came during the Ice Cream Festival and they had a lot of events happening. The farm animals were a delight to see - especially the day-old piglets. Washroom facilities are in every building and are clean. The food preservation exhibit is very informative.

Krystine Marie Adame

My 21month old enjoyed it so much when her daycare had a field trip there.. naptime at noon was great after going there in the morning ????

Diane F.F.

Great place for the whole family. Kids, parents, grandparents, caregivers and friends. Babies and toddlers up to 2 years enter free. 1 adult was approximately $13.50C. I didn't check if they had a family/group rate. Possibly... There is a posted schedule of events if that suits you or you can freestyle through the barns, museum, indoor and outdoor displays and a playground ideal for 2 - 8 year olds. Allow at least 90 minutes but 2.5 hours would be even better. We brought our own snacks so I didn't notice if they had a canteen to buy juice, water or snacks. I was there with a 32 month old. She loved it!

Evgeni Patenko

It was just perfect

Renee P

This can be a fun outing with little kids. Honestly, just made me want to go vegan though. If this is the gold star for farms, what happens in the "bad" farms?

Ryan Cormack

Learn about tractors and their changes over time, milking cows, horses breeds, pigs, sheep, rams, canola, satellite technology, etc. Interesting for kids as well as parents.

Kate Goos

Dress for the weather as there is a lot outdoors and barns are not particularly temperature controlled. For babies, I recommend a carrier rather than a stroller. Although everything is technically accessible, the terrain is a little hilly and walkways can be crowded at times.

Vicky McArthur

Cannot give this museum enough stars! If you have children and you are either living in Ottawa or planning on visiting you MUST visit this museum. It is just the right mix of live animals and educational exhibits. The museum is a hybrid farm/museum where kids can see and pet real animals in a farm setting, as well as learn about agriculture, animal care, and food preservation/preparation. In the summer when it's hot outside, you can easily split your time between the indoor and outdoor sections of the museum (but do bring sunscreen!). We have enjoyed tasting the snacks created during the live demos (home made ice cream, desserts made with seasonal fruits, etc.) and our daughter was even able to help prepare food for the dairy cows and feed them! We will definitely be returning again soon!

Suchita Ganesan

Its a good place for kids to show them various farm animals.

Mila Pl

Great place to educate children!

Brandon Willard

The kids and I enjoyed our visit to the museum!

Angele Vallieres

Super fun place for the whole family!

Marc 13

Kids love it. Adults enjoy seeing the animals. No touching because of covid-19 but still loads to see and do. A good morning out. Pre booking required.

Valerie Douglas

This is an interesting place for kids but less so for adults. I went to a musical event last year and it wasn’t worth it but the animals and the grounds are great.... if the weather is good. The museum tries to offer events but frankly many have been disappointing ones. The view of the baby animals in the spring is the best with little ones. Unfortunately you have to walk from building to building in rain or sleet or snow! So find a good day to go. Even better sign up for membership to museum of science and technology and you get free membership here as well.

Linda Dam

I enjoy volunteering here for their special events. The ornamental gardens are beautiful during the summer and the pig barn is always fun to visit ????

Elizabeth Mavor

lovely afternoon for the kids to get up close with various farm animals! great playground too.

Anneke Lendore

Great place to take kids! They love the animals and the playground is fantastic. Interesting demonstrations held regularly for the older kids. Lots of walking between buildings but very accessible by stroller.

Ricardo Otake

This place is wonderful to give children access to animals ! The teaching programs at the learning center are excellent too!

Ernest Bieniasiewicz

Great place to discover the farm

Karan Sehgal

Great place for the family. During festivities the museum is decorated. Staff are very kind and helpful. Kids can pet animals. There are areas where kids can plan, do craft, face painting etc. I’d recommend this place. Good idea to bring food and snacks. You can easily spend 3-4 hours.

BHK

We have a membership and are here all the time. Petting goats (and hugging them - they actually do this!) is excellent therapy. Also of note are the calves and the barn cats, who love to be petted and will sometimes climb into your lap for a cuddle. Wagon rides are also a favourite of ours. The guides are great!

Danika Billie Littlechild

I took my four year old on a Saturday morning. Still operating under pandemic restrictions as of our visit in late August 2021, tickets must be purchased online before arrival. There are many buildings, exhibits and barns to experience. There are a lot of bathrooms, and handwashing stations near animal exhibits. There is a small playground in the middle of the museum which my son really enjoyed. The Learning Center is maybe a bit too advanced for someone his age, and a lot of the kiosks inside were closed for safety reasons (I'm guessing pandemic related). There is at least one place to refill your water bottle, but no water fountains are operating. All in all a great experience.

Jeremy Ng

Great place for young children to roam around and see lots of animals in essentially a live farm. Multple buildings housing animals of each type. Washroom and water stations all around. Occasional interactive activities such as petting the rabbits and learning about baby cows. Info boards all about. There's a playground as well.

erika holbrough

Great for all ages. Lots of animals to pet and some educational panels on food and food production.

JJ Gagne

Top notch GOV sponsored agricultural research facility and museum. Facilities designed to accommodate school age children for learning programs as well as the general public. Lots to see and do.

Jo Morin

We visited on a quiet day there wasn't much to be done or see since we visited in winter. Visiting the barn was ok but not super impressive what make our visit worthwhile was the excellent presentation buy the staff. My kids had the chance to cook a bread with the lovely Madeleine, she is so good with kids. The lady (I didn't get her name) at the maple demo was super kind too. To summarize, the quality and welcoming of the staff made our visit excellent.

Bowen

I mean it’s just a place where you can touch calf, and how can you say no to that lol. (There is much more than just calf haha, there is so much more to see)

Bin Ou

Learn lots about Canadian agriculture fun farm and beautiful garden

JM Garcia

Working farm turned into exhibits for 10$. You can pet the baby cows and sheep that's all. But you can get up close to cows ,horses ,goats, chicken's,ducks, pigs. Seems mostly frequented by parents and small children. Alot of informational material throughout farm.

Ashish Gupta

Definitely a very nice place. Very well managed, humble staff and all Animals were taken care of.

Kate Lou Thom

Always a great trip with the kids. Fantastic spot for a family outing while in the city.

Paul Tanguay

Love this place. Parents grew up on farms, so I was at this museum 6+ times a year. Always lots of acitivities for kids, and you can pet the small animals, but can't feed them. Good sized park, and there's a planned activity every 30min, by the museum. Pet an animal and learn, cook something and sample, etc...

Robert Xie

What a fantastic family oriented place!

Jayson Crasto

I have been to the museum in the past and it was great! However, on our visit yesterday with our two small boys, we were very disappointed. With all the construction going on it was first of all confusing just getting to the admissions kiosk. Then there were detours galore, with very little signage. The little signage there was, was hard to spot and often blocked by construction vehicles. It was noisy and there was very little staff to help out. Considering all this, it was definitely not worth full price of admission. i would wait to go until construction is finished....

NOIR. E.L

Great place to educate kid. really close up to animal. if you have kid, about 2 hrs should be sufficient. if just adult. about 1 hour.

Ahmed Hamdy

Amazing place to go with your kids . We had an amazing time . Very knowledgeable staff and very welcoming wil definitely go back

Michael Morin

I hadn't been here in ages, and this is quite embarrassing since i live minutes away. It was well worth the visit. The displays are informative and fun, and the animals are fun to see. They look very well taken care of since this is a working farm, not a zoo. The cooking workshop was fun. So much fun in a few hours for only $10.

Joshua Nasielski

Wow! Was not expecting such a cool museum. I'm 29 and found it fascinating! Lots of different farm animals to see. Very informative. The exhibit on preservation was really really well done. Very picturesque. A hidden gem!

M. B. Vaisman

The place is really good for kids. There is lots to see and do while you visit. We went during the Ice Cream festival. There are activities set up, food trucks and presentations. My kids really enjoyed it. The cost is also reasonable.

Josie Vanderkamp-Merritt

I have always loved taking the children I work with to the Agriculture Museum. It is such an enjoyable time seeing all the animals and exhibits. There is lots of space to enjoy a snack or picnic lunch. Even in the winter months there is a skating rink to enjoy. The museum is fantastic for kids of all ages. Well worth a visit!

sloane rosen

Educational place that you can go through in a few hours easily. The staff was really friendly and it's free on week days.

Alison Morin-Bomers

My 1 year and 4 year old love coming to see the animals. Great playground and indoor exhibits that are educational. Pet new baby animals in the spring at Easter time. Free everyday from 4-5pm.

Scott M

Great way to spend an hour or two with the kids! Animals are super friendly for the most part and tolerate lots of petting (unless otherwise specified on the sign...)

Leigh Trelaine Farrow

Great place for kids to interact with animals. The outdoor park is lovely. Spring and Fall are the times to go! I would avoid Easter and go someother weekend. Way too busy. Our second visit was much better.

Andrew McDonald

Came here with the whole family. It was a great chance to explore and be outside. We checked out the various sessions during the day. It helped us to explore. Will come back with some others during the summer to give them a chance to experience it. The animals were a highlight for us to see. We didn't get a chance to find the area that one can feed the animals but will look for it when we return.

Adam Manley Densmore

Pros: This place is an absolute must if you have young children (ours are 2 and 3). Exhibits that are great for the kids include the bee exhibit and the food preservation exhibit. Both are indoors so you can go when the weather is bad. Lots of fun things for them to play with. When the weather is good, have a picnic next to their playground. We live in the city and pop by this place to tucker the kids out before nap. The special events are also awesome. They just had their Sheep Shearing festival, where you can see sheep herding as well as shearing. They also had a Border Collie agility course that was amazing. Only draw back for us was that you need to get there a bit early to get a spot, and they take a long time to introduce the dogs and fill your brains with knowledge. Our 2 year old couldn't handle the wait so we missed it this year. They also have lots of activities to do with wool (the original spin class). Also, they recently paved the paths in the museum and most of the other construction is over, so it's a lot less dusty now. Cons: They only have vending machines for food (irony?), or sometimes they have a food truck there, so pack a lunch. Anyway, I love this place.

Jodi-Ann Ouellette

Great exhibit, but not able to stay long with kids. Pack your own snacks - zero food onsite - but there aren't many places to sit and eat your snacks if the weather isn't perfect. There are some picnic tables and a few risers scattered around, however, and a nice play structure when you need to shake out the silliness.

Z. Cai

Not worth the price of admission. Of all the museums I've visited in the Ottawa area, this is probably the least worthwhile one. It's pretty much a 0 star for adults and maybe a 2 or 3 star for kids right now since all interactions with animals are banned. The main issue is that most of the complex is still actively used as an experimental farm, so the exhibits are mostly designed to fit around the work of this farm. This means there's only 2 real exhibits of substance (the canola one and the food storage one). The rest are pretty sad looking animals and one small garden worth visiting. The museum itself is also a confusing complex. If you decide to go, ask Google to guide you directly to the Indigo lot and not the agricultural museum, as the roads for the museum are not accurate.

Kristy Fallon

Great Halloween program with lots for the kids to do.

Esthefanie Vasquez

Love the farm experience within the city. Last week we saw many baby animals and my daughter even fed a baby goat ????

Abdul Mustafa

Amazing. Went there for second time and can't explain how good it is. If you have kids, it's a must go in Ottawa. The animal barns are a sure attraction, but the main highlight is the cow milking station. Go at least once!

Tania Johnson

My son is a special kid he loves cows more then anything but they didn't allow him to petting the cows which I found rude. There should be more facilities for a special kids. We are very sad.

Keyman Lee

Went for the ice cream festival. Loads of interactive children friendly activities. They have a variety of farm animals the kids can feed as well as a large children's playground at the center of the farm. Other than the vegan protestors outside the farm, it's a worthwhile visit. It does get very busy so parking can be difficult to find.

Kelly Foley

So much fun just love the events and the way the museum is spread out. Would have liked to see at least one staff in the non animal barns to ask a few questions too. Very clean and love the little signs everywhere

Michel Sturgeon

Wonderful place to spend a few hours with the family. We often go a few times over the summer, when the weather is nice, as there's lots of outdoor areas. Nice to see all the animals, learn about their care and see how the staff care for them and interact with the animals. Our kids enjoy seeing all the different farm animals in their enclosures, and petting the sheep and goats. Also, the learning building has lots to offer. Often times on weekends there will be crafts and group activities and demonstrations going on, but during the week, not as much happens. Overall enjoyable. Get the Ingenium membership for the year, and it pays for itself after a few visits.

Patrick Dean

Get your 5D close-ups with all things living at a farm! Great place for the kids with longstanding displays of tractors, brand new lambs at Easter and rabbits, chickens, cows bring milked, bees and more. Great partnership with aviation and science museums when you get the yearly membership.

Jessie Allen

Really great for kids! This museum has animals to pet and attractions that will probably appeal more to the little ones. There is a beautiful garden on the property they often host events that are fun for all ages, so there's still enough for adults to enjoy this museum too.

Sylvia de la Ronde

Scheduling for COVID worked well, the arrows made it easy to find our way around. Lots of hand sanitizer stations. Friendly staff

Marisa Varela

Very nice place to visit especially with kids. The place have lots of animals, that you could touch and learn from. About 12$ to get in and lots of pleasure.

Tialout G

Lots of fun for my 4yo. We did the tour twice. It took about 2h. Lots of tables to eat and rest. On the other side of the road there's that magnificent park. I left my car in the museum parking lot and went to the park. I can't wait to try the museum it again when all the expos will be opened

Pablo Listingart

Really cool museum. Probably not as good as the Science or Aviation, but still really well done. It is small, but with a lot of things for the kids to learn and play. The staff is really friendly and depending on the time of the day is not too crowded.

Aidan Leach

Great museum, lots of farm animals for the kids. I wish there was more farm equipment and exhibits on that kind of stuff to show my daughter, but she loved the animals and the few exhibits. The staff are great and there are tons of picnic tables for hanging out!

Ehsan Rahmati

Great family location. Try it in spring during the tulip festival.

Chris Lee

Another great museum in Ottawa! Lots of activities for the whole family. We were able to catch the milking of the cows at 4. A guide answered lots of questions about our milk system - very informative. FYI this museum does not have strollers like the aviation museum. There is also a nice outdoor playground.

Lu

Due to covid, there are limited time slot available online for you to book. And they are also strict with the entrance time. Make sure you book your tickets online before you go and also be there on time.

Tim Hewson

This place is great for adults and kids. We've been there many times with our two girls and never get tired of the place. Halloween last year was fantastic. If you have kids and are visiting Ottawa, take time to visit the Agriculture and Food museum.

Brian McMorrough

Interesting visit, but not for everyone. Plenty of farm animals to see and history to learn. The smell can be a little "rural" for some people, it is a farm after all. Worth a visit with your kids.

Bhavna Sambi

Hats off to the staff! The farm was in full Halloween bloom with spooky dancing barn, staff in costume, and lots of fun crafts and activities that kept kids engaged. Even a horse was in costume! We had a blast, thank you so much!

Amber Clouthier

A great place to take the kids for a few hours.

Sean Carter

Great place for kids and adults to walk around and check out farm animals.

Nicco Tancredi

Such an amazing place to see farm animals in their element. Afforable entrance fee, you can stay as long as you like. Features, horses, cows, sheep, goats, pigs, llamas, chickens & rabbits. Its a real working farm so you see the animals in barns & outdoor enclosures. Including a milking barn. You cannot feed or touch the animals, and they can get quite noisey & restless, however that's just part of the experience. They're are usually activities for kids too. Not much food available so eat before you come. And be dressed for the weather of the day.

Blake Williams

Very informative and clean. Seems like a great place for families or those who want to learn more about their food system.

James WE

Nice feel

Adora Randle

So much cool stuff to do, and see!

Sifiso Nkosinathi Nobela

This is by far the most nicest place to find and relax under the beauty of nature at its best, it’s so clean and lovely for pictures and many more I have seen weddings and weddings over this place.

Paul Onwubuke

Amazing museum! Great place for young and adults. Love the farm animals and the Canola informations

Christoph Hutter

The Agriculture Museum is a farm with plenty of animals from cows to pigs and horses and many more. It's a great place for families with children. The museum has frequently special activities and festivals where children can get face painting or make their own cookies or ice cream. Whike this does not happen every day, it is fairly often and you can find out more on the museum's website. The Agriculture Museum is definitely one of the places to visit in Ottawa.

Natasha Curtis

A great place for the family or if you like farm animals! We go every Wednesday for the Wednesday welcome event.

Brian Kee

Fascinating fun place to bring your kids to. They get to see farm animals and enjoy outdoor at the playground and mini skating ring. Staffs are friendly and helpful. It's clean, spacious, not too crowded and has lots of parking.

Tony Wang

Easter events ate always fun!

Jose Muller

Very educational museum here which prefers to teach through hands on and visual means more than just having a paragraph on a plate. There's cows here, not sure if they let you milk them but you can walk pretty close to them. If animals aren't your thing then there's plenty of fauna here too. There's a whole part of the museum that's just an outdoor park (you don't need a ticket to come here).

clint butler

Lots of fun to see the animals and the frequent exhibits held. Fiyn for the whole family.

Linda

We went with our 8 month old baby and he loved seeing and petting the animals. We took about 2 hours to go around the entire place. It was cold outside but most of the exhibitions are indoors.

andrea edwards (pandora)

had so much fun. i love farm animals and it was a good experience to learn some things i didn't know. went for Canada day!!

Brenda Murphy

Great place to bring the kids. My toddler had a great time looking at the animals and making animal noises.

Victoria Occhipinti

Wonderful museum in the south end of Ottawa, not super easy to get to by bus, but it was walkable for me. This would be a great day out for the kids. There's so much to learn and interact with, all about the history of Canadian farming and agriculture. A great day overall!

Allie Atkins

Amazing experience as always! Free entry after 4pm! Great little visit with the kids!

Dee N

Great if your kids like animals. They really need to get some new stuff though.

Heather Cancilla

They have one vending machine with a little bit of food. It has a couple different wraps, hummus, salad and 3 types of drinks. With a few snack items too. Would recommend to bring a lunch/picnic. Lots of places to sit and eat. Great for Kids.

Janet Guembel

Yearly membership is affordable.. and there is always something happening with the animals.. we saw several "hours old" babies.. GREAT PLACE FOR ALL AGES.. lots to keep 2 year olds very happy and active...

Cecil Du Bois

We had a great day at the museum on a very hot day in the early summer with our 2.5 year old grandson and his baby brother. We picnicked at the play area under the shade of a tree, and he enjoyed watching the construction machinery, though we adults found that noisy and dusty. It is quite a hike from the parking lot to the picnic area so bring your lunch in small containers in the backpack if you don't want to make a winding walk in the dust part of your experience!

Ayn Mcleod

It was JUST OK. It was VERY expensive for the very few activities and/or animal displays. We saw large pigs and their babies which was very cute. We saw cattle on the barn and some calves. There were goats outside in fenced areas. 2 horses in stalls. That was it for animals. You wud be better to go to Petting zoo or any other typeof facility for the value. The other demonstration area with drawings of Canola plants to explain canola oil production is too detailed for young kids and not interactive or too boring for older kids. I just do not find it worth the value.

Shannon Peck

The museum often has special events happening. Great for younger and older children, there are indoor and outdoor areas available for viewing the animals. You can pet the cows and other animals as they are friendly. The baby donkey was definitely a main attraction - especially near closing time when the animals are being fed!

Zena

My children love this museum! The staff are super knowledgeable regarding the animals and take their time answering any questions the children might have. The measures put into place during the pandemic are great with hand sanitizer available everywhere and visits to the museum by reservation only. There were visitors when we went but it wasn’t too crowded and we were able to take our time viewing the animals. Before the pandemic, there was a nice play structure for the children (which was closed when we visited) and birthdays were always a blast here!

Nancie Trustworthy

My little Paradise on earth especially in summer season

Robert Van Tassel

I found this place by accidentnonendaybwgile looking for a petting zoo or farm near Ottawa. The property is very large with lots of animals and education livestock and food production. We brought our 3 year old and he loved it however there are even better exhibits for school aged children. There is also a large playground and picnic area. I would imagine that families could spend several hours here and have a nice lunch. All of this comes for a low admission price of $14 for adults and less for children.

Ashley Good

My 18m old daughter loved visiting the farm and seeing the animals. Unfortunately due to covid most of the interactive displays and toys are gone but that is no fault of the museum. Admission is a bit expensive, if you took a whole family it could cost a small fortune which is unfortunate. If the cost was less we would probably go more often.

Ian Gallant

We go here to give the kids some exposure to agriculture and for us to learn a little history. Big plus is that the kids burn a tonne of energy. Paid parking Great deal if you buy the membership and go to each museum at least once.

MU S

An amazing place to take the kids. It takes 4 hrs to walk it through with kids. Lots of fun activities and friendly staff. Adults can learn plenty too.

Sheila Brown

Great place to spend some time with the grandkids. Smaller crowds because of Covid are actually nice

Kirsten Suttill

Good farm and fun play structure for the kids but no refreshments hence 4 not 5 stars. There's no vending machine so make sure you bring your own drinks and snacks. It would make a fortune with a coffee van!

jay langitan

Amazing place to bring the kids to see the farm animals. We really did enjoy the agricultural museum.

Frances Barbe

As usual so much fun .we love going on holidays. This is our main events for holidays. The grandparent membership paid for itself the first month.

William Lavigne

Love taking the littles here. Kids love it and all the farmhands are really great, they know so much, they seem like they love their job and was awesome to have around when my kid had any questions or concerns about the animals. I went on a day where they had summer day camp going so there was some spots we couldn't go and some things that those kids could do that we couldn't and he didn't like that. Also was hard to explain it to him. Other then that it was a great time

DJ Kim

Great place to spend a nice day. Let your kids learn where their food comes from, learn about the care of livestock, cook in in experimental kitchen, learn about food preservation... educational and fun! Also has a farm playground for the wee ones.

Christopher Brown

The staff was friendly and helpful, and the exhibits were informative and interesting. We also got to see a calf being born in the dairy barn. Just be aware that there isn't really a cafeteria (there are places to sit and eat inside and out, with a vending machines for food and coffee), and there isn't a gift shop (only a vending machine with gifts in it). We packed a lunch. All in all, a very good outing for the family.

David P

This is a fairly hands on museum for family and kids. Not so much for people without kids. Lots of horses, cows, pigs, chickens, bees, etc. to learn about and interact with. There is a hand on baking class where kids can help make cookies. The old tractor area was cool. We arrived too late to attend the butter and ice cream making events around midday that probably would have been fun so it would be worth arriving in the morning. There are some plaques for adults to read about farming, food production and preservation, canola oil, etc. But it's hard to read up on these things when you've brought kids who want to run off and see the next coolest thing ASAP lol. The museum is free after 3:30pm, on weekdays anyway, so if you want a quick glimpse of the animals this would be a fun and cheap activity for kids.

Natalie Massicotte

We love this place! For 2 adults and a kid it's well worth getting the museum pass. My daughter enjoys all the animals and playground. For a 3 year old the other buildings are fairly meh, basically its a fun farm with a playground that's close-by

Adaeze Nnaemezie

Loved it. It was a fun and learning experience especially for the kids. A great place for families and schools to visit. And it has such a welcoming atmosphere as the staff are helpful with info and it is built kids in mind.

Andrew Sloan

Lots of learning opportunities about animal husbandry, food production, and storage for all ages. A wide variety of farm animals for kids to see up close including dairy cattle, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, donkeys, rabbits, and various fowl. A large central playground that is great for kids to burn off some energy. A nice covered outdoor eating area with picnic tables. Indoor eating area also available for colder days and inclimate weather. Fantastic demonstrations for little ones like preparation (and tasting) of maple taffy.

Sara Collins

This was a great experience for my kids and I. It was much bigger than I expected and very interactive. My only regret is that we didn't schedule enough time in our day for this excursion and could see all that it had to offer. Great samples handed out in celebration of the ice cream festival today. Definitely somewhere I'd like to go back to.

Marianne M

Great place for the family!!! There is animals outside and inside. There is some parts with shade. Its good for all weather. We were there with our 4 months and our 2 years old and the big one had a lot of fun. There is even a park to play!!

Brick Laine

My child and I visited yesterday and we found it quite boring as a tourist attraction. The government of Canada website reads, "As a working farm, the Museum is a fun and educational atmosphere for students of all ages, from daycare to secondary." My daughter is five so she was mostly interested in seeing and getting up close to the animals and except for if you tried to feed some of the goats, sheep and donkeys, which we were told not to do, the place wasn't particularly captivating. The best part for her really was the little playground of ladders and slides etcetera where most of the other kids looked to for stimulation. Thankfully we can find those in almost any park.

Jean Francois Jutras

A great way to spend an afternoon. A huge variety of farm animals could be seen: horses, lots of cows, pigs of different colors along with some babies, chicken, rabbits and more. Keeping in mind that it was a farm the area was clean. A park was available for the children to play in. There was a lot of room to eat or rest in the shade. I did not see any restaurant or anywhere to purchase food. Every exit of every building had soap dispenser to protect both the visitor and the animals. The kids and I learned a bunch of facts about farming.

Vasyl Volyk

Nice place to visit with kids. It's not a museum. It's a farm :) Many different animals live here. Horses, rabbits, sheeps, cows ... It looks and smells like farm in countryside. It's nature :)

Matt M

Love the cows and goats!

Mark Miller

Excellent place to spend the afternoon with the kids. They have some demonstrations like ice cream making, a park and plenty of space to have a picnic. Overall one of my favourite places/museums. Right across the street you have the Arboretum and the canal with some stunning views and other great picnic locations!

Alex Trotter Clare

Our family loves the Experimental Farm. Very clean, so much to keep baby busy and very affordable.

Jenna Elward

This is a great museum. My kids ask to go there all the time and never want to leave. There are indoor barns and the go between is outdoors. There are many animals you can touch such as sheep, goats and calves. The cooking demos are delicious. On the weekends they often have activities for the kids depending on the time of year. I love the tractors and the kids love the simulation of driving in the field. They have a great play structure too. There is no cafeteria so bring your own food or there is a vending machine with sandwich and veggie options. On the weekends there is also a potatoe food truck.

Gina Byun

We routinely bring a picnic lunch and spend the whole day at the farm with friends. It's such a fun and versatile experience for kids. The new bee exhibit is so exciting to watch.

Bsw Bsw

A fun activty for kids and adults alike

Derek Burkinshaw

Great family outing. Parking 3$ / h spent 1 hour.

Scott Langille

Great way to spend part of the day. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable, and more than happy to answer questions. You can tell that that animals are all very well cared for and loved. Great place for kids as they can interact with many of the animals. Additionally there is a good sized playground.

Adam Lawson

Very nice place if you're into farm animals. They got pigs, cows, horses etc... Admission is free daily from 4-5!

Manal Muhaidi

I highly recommend this for family’s with kids. We had an amazing time. The kids were able to learn how to make ice cream, butter and help wash a cow. Fun learning experience for sure.

Andrew Hall

Great spot to go with the kids. A season pass is the best deal in town (Ag museum + Aviation + Science and Tech whennit reopens). The museum is great but we go all the time just to let the animals and see what was born this week. It is an actual working farm.

Kevin Lee

It’s a very nice place where can get more professional animals knowledge and learning some skills get some experience.

Elena Godbout

Poor Covid-19 protocol. Crowd was collected at the entrance: people were invited to come and then suddenly everyone was stopped at the very entrance as a stuff started chatting, leaving visitors waiting breathing in each other backs. Then stuff was sending opposite directions, then back to original entrance.... We asked about the washroom, the stuff member directed us to the very filthy washroom, that had no water. Museum is nice; worth to visit after the pandemics when safe.

Emily Miller

It was my third visit of this place and I enjoyed it as always very much, although I’m not a kid anymore. In several barns there are cows, pigs, horses and my favourite cute sheep and goats. You can pet the animals and it seems they like it.There is a garden with the flower beds. You can walk through and enjoy all the colorful beauty. It is a very peaceful place. I’ll be definitely back, when I’m in Ottawa again.

Sheryl Shelley

I hadn't been here since I was a little girl. It was such a great experience. There was so much for my 3year old to do. She got to see and learn about the animals, play at the park, try a vanilla bean pear muffin, learn about soil science and grow her own bean, make and taste ice cream and go on her first wagon ride. The staff were so informative and friend. My daughter had a great time.

Matt Weran

We really enjoyed our time at the Agriculture and Food Museum (we spent the whole afternoon there). There are lots of fun animals to visit and lots of useful information to learn. The staff were very passionate, knowledgeable, and helpful. I was very proud to see and learn about all we do to be one of the top Agricultural nations!

Andrew Roy

The day was great. The ground were nice and we'll keeper.

Nicole Palenchar

As young adults, my friends and I were hoping to have an enjoyable (educational, but not boring and surrounded by children type) experience at this museum. To our surprise, we achieved just that. Thanks to the museums not being too busy on the gorgeous Sunday (strange, but fine with me) we learned a lot about Canada's agricultural history and future! We also got to see some really adorable and well taken care of farm animals. In addition to the paid exhibits, the surrounding land is covered in gorgeous and informative hiking trails. I would definitely recommend this as an activity for any eco-minded Canadian finding themselves in Ottawa!

F Machado

Awesome place for kids...

Marrissa Miller

Me and my partner are both adults and we had a great time. It definitely feels more geared towards kids but we still had fun. Theres lots of cute animals to pet and there was pumpkins everywhere for Halloween/Thanksgiving which was cute. There was also a cute Halloween display in the horse barn (but I won't spoil it for those who are going to go)

Selman Avci

Loved it. Wish the museum was open very educational for kids but also fun for adults to play around with the barn animals. Especially the little sheep. The rose garden is a must see and I personally follow updates on tge flowers blooming there regularly. Beautiful landscaping and coloura.

Liga M

We were there for Easter celebration. Our 20 month toddler was super excited about the farm animals, but for the rest of activities, like understanding how the cheese is made, or where the eggs come from or do some baking etc., he was too small. For preschool kids definitely a place to spend whole day.

SMTM Co

Enjoyed walking around the museum and seeing the animals. Quick warning - the pig area is not for the queasy, as the smell can be a bit overwhelming. Lots of great open spaces to sit and have a picnic, as well as a park area for the kiddies to play.

Patrick Roy

A perfect spot to walk your dog and say hello to the cows.

Rockblyn Trac

Great place for kid to learn new things basic...highly recommend to everyone

Jonathan Baggs

Great way to spend a beautiful day outside! I haven't been since I was a kid so it was nice to bring my girlfriend back who had never been before. She had never really experienced farm animals so it was really incredible to see her discover where her meat comes from. This is definitely geared more towards kids but has something for everybody! Don't miss the Botanical gaardens!
