Until I took kids for a field trip I had no clue our area has a nature reserve. It's a very beautiful spot to observe nature and imagine what some parts of the Sumas flats looked like before the lake was removed. My only suggestion that they develope a few interpretive displays for children. The preschool field trip was lacking activities that would better help them understand some of the simple wonders of the nature around them. Nice parts though: great place to observe beavers at work and various birds including waterfowl. Nice for walks

Beautiful little nature reserve to goand walk for a while. Do some bird watching, relax in a bench while you look at blue herons fly and enjoy the lake. Learn about the flowers, the trees. A great idea to spend time in there and learn is to buy a bird or tree identification guide (you can get it in the giftshop) and try and identify as many as you can, I love to do that while birding. Also, this place is connected to the Rotary trail, so if you are looking for a long but easy hike, just to relax, this is a great starting point!!!

Beautiful, tranquil place for bird watching or nature walk. So many little paths to enjoy all year round. There's a bird feeding area with hummingbirds, juncos, chickadees, woodpeckers and more! In December I saw lots and lots of jumping salmon! It was really amazing to see.

So many birds. We went in May which was probably the heron breeding season. We saw so many herons in their big nests. Plenty of small colorful birds and eagles too. A birdwatchers paradise. May is the best time to go as the trees are still leafless which makes spotting birds easy.

On a beautiful sunny day it is hard to beat. Heron loop is closed until July now as the herons are nesting and mating and having chicks. Take the dike trail to the west and gaze in awe at the colony. Got to see lots of flying, nest building and mating. Take a powerful lens. There is also a bald eagle nest there so they are buzzing around too.

Went here with my daughters class on a feild trip. This place is beautiful. The class went a learned about pond dipping where they took small strainers nd dipped them in the pond and we found all sorts of insects. The instructor from the reserve taught us all about things we found. It was very cool. We also learned about animals that bred the ponds and why. I never knew raccoons washed their food until now. The second part of the day the kids did a fun art class about animals and how to easily draw them which was really fun. The instructor was really fun. The trails are flat and easy to walk and there are tons of things to learn about . There are benches to rest on everywhere and an information center. The trails and washrooms are also wheel chair accessible. There is ample parking. Highly recommended for outdoor learning. Kids to adults we all enjoyed the reserve and had fun.

This is my favorite spot for walking all year round. At the right time you can catch the Heron and local variety of birds raising their chicks a real treat to see. They have picnic areas and a variety of trails. There are restrooms throughout the park and all of them are very clean. There is also a little shop area that you can pick up souvenirs and chat with the friendly staff. If you have children this is a great place for them to learn a few things and develop an appreciation for wildlife. If there is a draw back it's the parking area is not very large.

I took 7 children from my daycare there when they had a family nature event on. We all had a great time learing about beavers and the streams. There were so many interactive displays and crafts that the children really enjoyed it. We ate a snack on one of the pic nic tables and went for a walk on the trail. It is a wonderful place to go and also a really important place to support in our community.

We always love walking the loop although not very far. Very pretty. It's a good place to pick up the Vedder Trail though. You can definitely do longer routes this way.

What a beautiful place to visit. So many trails to walk, bike, alone or with family and friends. Variety of ducks, birds and of course the heron. Perfect time of year to view these amazing birds nesting in the trees. Highly recommend a cisit here. I will bbe back to walk a different trail.
