Great variety of animals and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Kids spent half a day here and had a great time. All the animals appeared happy, had plenty of space and we're well taken care of. Anytime we are in Sac and have some time, we'll be sure to visit the Zoo.

Fun day at the Sacramento Zoo with the entire family. The zoo is well kept, very clean and the animals seem to be treated well. Had to reserved tickets online, which I didn't mind. They are currently limiting the amount of individuals per day. The kids and adults had fun. My favorite was the giraffes. Wished they had sloths though! Fun idea/suggestion: I think it'd be awesome and it'd be successful if there was an actual zoo-themed full restaurant within the grounds - similar to what Disneyland does.

It was a nice way to spend an afternoon with the family. We toured the whole zoo in about 2 hours. There's a restaurant you can grab sometime to eat and a gift shop with cute t-shirts. You can also bring your own food and drinks and there's plenty of picnic tables. My kids loved it! And the giraffe enclosure was our favorite! It seemed like some areas of the zoo were closed to the public. Still plenty to see.

Was an awesome trip, They have a bunch of dinos around thr park that move and make noise and have plaques with info about them. MY daughter LOVED it.The food was so good, a bit pricey in my opinion but not horrible...the pizza was probably the best bang for your buck and it was so good! Cant wait to go back, we bought memberships since it only cost us like 40 more dollars and now we can come back all year and after just 1 morr visit we will have got our money's worth.
Great little zoo, wish animals had bigger enclosures.
We went in the morning, so most of the animals were out and about. If you go when it's too warm, they're usually sleeping in their quarters.

My family and I have a membership and enjoy going every few weeks. It’s small enough to not overwhelm the kids or parents but it has a great variety of animals. There is a playground, carousel and train. Currently there are dinosaurs. The food at the Kampala Cafe is good. I order online while we make our way to that area. That way it’s ready when we get there. Bathrooms are clean. Toys are pricey but their profits are for a good cause.
Good time with the kids, couple hours worth of stuff to checkout. Poor food options though, hot dogs pretzels nachos ice cream....ugh

We really like this zoo because it is just the right size for our 4 and 6 year old. Not too big, that they get exhausted walking around and not too small that we get through it in 20 mins. They really enjoyed seeing all the animals especially the lions who were pretty active when we got there. There is a small playground there now that our kids really enjoyed and they were able to play and have snack time there. It wasn't crowded at all and we went on a weekday.

We had an absolutely fabulous time at the zoo! The children really enjoyed the giraffe experience (a newer experience?). The Cheetahs were awesome! They walked around close to the wall so we got up close views! The snow leopard was super cute!! All the big cats were awesome and the otters even came over to greet us! We did train and the carousel! Also, yummy soft serve!! What a great time for young children with parents or grandparents!

Staff was friendly and helpful. Pretty big zoo. We all enjoyed watching the animals, the kids enjoyed them alot. They have mechanical dinosaurs, they make noises and move around alittle bit. They seem realistic and the kids were excited about that. The kids loved the zebras and giraffes. Everyone had a great time.
We had a great time here! It is a great place for spending time with family and friends. The zoo was not too crowded so we were able to see all of the animals :-)

The Sacramento Zoo has a wide variety of critters for people to enjoy. The Orangutan display was my favorite. It's too bad they don't have any for sale at the gift shop.

We went on a particularly hot day so the animals were not as active as they usually would be but they're animals so they do what they want. All in all it was a good experience and the food was delicious. It wasn't as crowded as I thought it was going to be which was great and it's a beautiful set up.
It was a great experience, everything was nice and tidy. They have a small amusement ride and a train ride. A gift store, snack place, and small restaurant. The staff members were very sweet and understanding. I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants to go to a zoo to see animals.

It was fun and some cool animals. The kids where able to feed a giraffe. They had a bunch of animatronic dinasours that the kids loved. Food was very expensive and only had a couple food options at the snack stations, they had hotdogs or nachos. Wish they had easier snacks like corn dogs, pizza, or chicken strips. The Restaurant had a line out the door so we didn't go, ended up eating in town. Overall fun zoo with lots to look at and cool animals. Only animals they didn't have that the kids wanted to see where an elephant and penguins.

Super fun day at the Zoo with the Grands! Packed our lunch and appreciate the picnic tables at the playground. We even got to ride the train and the carousel.

My family and I have lived in Sac for 3 1/2 years and we have never had a chance to make it out to the zoo so it was really great to finally get to see it! It was small compared to the Houston zoo we had growing up but it definitely didn’t disappoint. We went on a cooler day and in the AM hours so the animals were active. We walked into the park to Monkeys screaming and a lion roaring which was cool!! I believe they are expanding it over the next few years so that will be a pretty awesome thing. Overall the park was clean and we would definitely go back!

Showed up at 9:00 on Saturday. Plenty of parking, had about an hour of the park being calm before most crowds arrived. 3 adults is hand the price of a membership. After coming once it is the perfect place for a young family. Plenty of benches tables lawns to sit and eat food from home or buy from the cafes. Masks recommended outside, but there was enough open space where I felt okay without one. Pack a hat or some sunglasses! Great family outing! I want you get a membership for our family.

Great Sunday activity. The annual pass is totally worth it. You are allowed to brink outside food so this makes the outing more affordable. The bathrooms were clean despite it being lunch time. The restaurant has delicious garlic fries and burgers. The food is priced higher than I'd like but still very good.
An Incredibly Family Experience! Great Zoo for those who dont like walking too much as its slightly smaller than other major zoo's ive been too. Had lots of fun!

Way cool place. Plan 2-3 hours to see everything. Reasonably priced food that is actually real good. Easy to find way around. And animals are often visible and cared for. Kids love the experience. Easy to find from freeway. Parking is a bit tricky but manageable. Overall very worth it
Lovely local zoo resides at the Oakland hill! The zoo has low floor and high floor, which is connected by the sky tram. From the sky tram you can see the whole San Francisco bay. That is the most attractive sightseeing from this Zoo! The zoo doesn't have many animals, but it is great for a family for a day trip. We came here on the first day of 2022. We had a great family time here! We will come back definitely.

The Sacramento zoo has dinosaurs! We came for the live animals and found dinosaurs all over the zoo. They move and make noise. It was a great day at the zoo. Thanks to the animals that posed for the camera.
Sacramento Zoo is a great place to go! It’s typically not very crowded, and has a good assortment of animals to enjoy for a smaller zoo. Come towards zoo feeding time and you will be sure to experience seeing most of the animals out in their pens. I’ve been coming to this zoo since I was a young child and it hasn’t changed much, which I like. Fairy Tail Town and William Land Park are right across the street. Bring your kids or grandkids here for a fun day!
Decent zoo with several exhibits. They do have some activities for kids such as carousel and train ride. There is also a small playground for children. There are some snack shops and at least 1 place that you can order food. You can also purchase coffee and hot cocoa. There was no wait for admission and the staff is very friendly.

A really fun time, very family friendly, lots of places to sit down and chill out and many pathways that make it easy to navigate the Sac zoo and also safely, socially distance from others. Masks are required. Bathrooms are public and scattered throughout, and the zoo itself has gift shops, and places to eat as well. If you're looking for something to do and see some really incredible animals, this is the place.

Great place for “big” and little kids alike. We tend to go when there are less people, this was the first time feeding the giraffes and boy was that a winner. They take all COVID precautions seriously. For us, it’s a great place that is spread out, with almost all exhibits being outside it makes it easier to enjoy the open spaces. We will keep coming back for sure.

Sacramento Zoo is a small non-profit zoo. Although it is small and doesn't have a huge assortment of animals the facilities are always clean and the staff always knowledgeable and friendly. There is a fair amount of outreach and education the zoo provides as well. Its smaller size is a benefit in many way as it is has a more intimate feel and at the right times you can see the animals up close without throngs of people smashed against you. Great place for families with younger kids, and they seem to be trying to expand and grow as the greater Sacramento region grows around it.

So I didn't love it, but also didn't hate it. The prices to get in were pretty good and reasonable for the day we went. Prices for food and gift shop items were what you would expect for a place like this. Staff polite, clean facilities... But... the animal enclosures we're far too small. (Mainly for the big cats and apes.) I feel like the zoo was trying to fit too many animals in to attract more guest, than thinking about the overall wellbeing of the animals. Larger, more suitable enclosures for the animals would make happier more active animals. A lot of them seemed depressed and lifeless. The lion exhibit was the most concerning for us. They were in two small glass enclosures that had far too little space to roam and explore. Our two year old of course loved every bit of it. The dinosaur displays were fun and she enjoyed the merry-go-round. And the giraffe feeding was a great experience for all of us. And the little play park allowed a short break for all. However, she's only two and her expectations and values are to be expected for her age. She did so happen to point out that some of the animals appeared sad. I'm not sure if we would go to this particular zoo again. Maybe. ????????♀️ It's always nice to see animals from around the world and the kids do love them. The gift shop is nice with a wide variety of items.

Wonderful family experience. Picnic area near the carousel. Animals are clean, well cared for and look happy. Staff was wonderfully nice and shared knowledge of the animals with us. Food is available at snack bar or restaurant. We were able to bring sandwiches and drinks but also enjoyed the snack bar.

Great Zoo if you don't want to drive all the way to the Oakland zoo. Prices are ok considering the animals they have there and the maintenance that needs to be kept. Downside is that every ride in the zoo is a separate cost. ( Credit cards only) Parking is "free" since it's street parking. It's located surrounding multiple parks with plenty of picnic tables and grass and trees. If you're looking into getting a yearly pass, you'll it'll pay for itself if you plan to visit more than 3 times in a year. Another plus to the annual pass is that it provides discounted tickets to other zoos/ aquariums.
