Cool place, excellent for kids.

Em von Euw

Peaceful and well maintained, feels like you're out of the city even though you're in the city!

steven29

Don't go there in May, flying cotton everywhere and so are the biting mosquitos.

Elise C

Nice place to go for a stroll, but very low on bathroom facilities.

N H

Beautiful lush green trail (in the spring). Nice beachfront views of the Burrard Inlet. FLAT is definitely the right word for this place - flat and accessible trails (gravel or pavement). Dogs allowed on leash up the bridge, making this is a very short trail for walking the dog. Currently the loop trail is ONE WAY, for social distancing purposes. However, this doesn't seem to be a very busy park (on a warm sunny Thursday afternoon in May, anyway). Only a few public parking spots available.

Nice little spot. Trails are one way to adhere with COVID protocols. Bring your rubber boots to explore the beaches surrounding the area. Trails are well maintained. Lots of birds plenty of birdwatchers.

Ian McIntosh

This is a spectacular bird sanctuary in the midst of a working harbour. It's well worth a visit. Bring your binoculars.

Jerry Whalley

Bird sanctuary with lotsa twitchers about

Frank Pali Photography

Walked around looking for wildlife we saw only a couple of birds.

Aftaab Gulam

If you haven't been, this place is a treat. My favourite are the goats. Watch your shoelaces and don't be surprised if you get bumped by one of these lovely creatures. If you get a chance, find the corner in the back where they breed. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. Wouldn't want to be the female in that equation as the fella is relentless ;)

Karl

Nice place ????

My best home

Adam Jirousek

Little bit more than just a park. Great place to suck in new energy and get out from the city’s bustle. Also sweet spot for bird watching

John Walsh

Fantastic

Fahim Namileh

Laina Ho

A great place for walking in nature and wildlife!

Keegan Casidy

Secret gem of the North Shore, last area with remnants of what the harbor and inlet originally looked like. So much wildlife packed into such a relatively small area. Lots of trails to walk around the area. Don't come expecting to hang out on the "beach/rocks," this is a nature preserve and you are supposed to walk and look, but not touch wildlife or bring garbage. Also don't be one of those people who bring kids that just throw rocks into the ocean. The area is super fragile and doesn't need that, take your kids to Ambleside.

Matthew MacLennan

Tranquil. Birds! Views across Burrard inlet.

Ken H

Nice trail to walk, very easy, and not too many people

Amy Roskell

Rick Turnbull

It's beautiful here. Family friendly. Come at low tide

Nikolai Terebieniec

Very nice park to relax in and walk.

Shaun Fraser

Wonderful place to stop in for a visit. It was restful in this season to wander the trails and try to spot different species. Unsure about the other reviewers’ beach comments as the beaches are restricted due to conservation efforts.

Christopher Jones

Amazing conservation area with good views and lots of wildlife

Robert Young

Perfect greenspace on the North Shore to go for a walk, to bird watch, and if you're lucky you might spot a pair of deer.

James Lu

(Translated) Very quiet forest trail, especially suitable for walking in spring, summer and autumn. There are several points leading directly to the sea, and many seabirds can be seen when the tide is low. (Original) 非常安静的林间小道,特别适合春夏秋季去走路。有好几个点直接通往海边,涨潮退潮时可以看到许多海鸟。

thisissimonb

One of the quieter parks in which to enjoy a nice stroll or go birding. Quite a few species pass through here. If only there were public toilets.

Ironman Gooch

Nice quiet figure-8 loop through the forrest next to the ocean. Bird viewing stations an benches throughout. Couple of ponds for ducks, etc. Often see deer and other wildlife. Also has ingress portals (and pokestops).

Pegga Dee

Steven Dean Dreger

Great place for bird watching and peaceful walk.

Lol saw a total of 3 birds while I was here, but I did also find starfish and anemones in the creek so that was a bonus. There is no coffee anywhere around here that I could find, which meant I had to leave early. You may have a similar experience

Wonderful area to connect with nature, with flat walking trails and benches to rest and bird watch. Also loved the blooming meadows for the bees and butterflies (in spring), information boards about the history of the area, and Burrard Inlet views with fast incoming tide.

Angela Hansen

Great for birding!

Maikel Parets

Great park and beach areas. Had a little run in with a bear sneaking up on me and my kids. Not a lot of garbage cans available.

Laury Sorto

So beautiful

Evangeline Dalaya

There is one nice view overlooking the water which was pretty nice. The paths were okay. There is an injured Deer which lives there with its family. It was alarming to see its leg bent and the poor thing hobbling around. I am glad they have a bulletin board and there is a post on there about the Deer and how it's injury occurred drawing awareness to the traffic in that area.

Henry Yu

It had a very nice trail and good views

Nisha R

Liping Cai

Many lovely birds!

Dylan Tetrault

Love it! Wild flowers are all out and is beautiful and serene.

Ali Mehrizi

Beautiful park and quite unknown, which makes for a perfect picnic spot even on a warm sunny day in Vancouver where every other beach is very busy! Nice trails too and only a short drive from the heart of North Vancouver. It’s easily accessible and has enough parking space. It has beautiful views of the Burrard Inlet and Burnaby Heights (and Simon Fraser University).

Ben Wong

Nice boardwalk hike for a rainy day.

Te-Anna Paradis

Beautiful place for a walk

Xan He (Pro Reviews)

The park is like a little secluded forest. It has a unique bridge when you enter further into the park, a great place to fly a drone or to Have coffee. There is a walkway or trail that leads you around the park from the entrance all the way to the exit. It’s generally frequented by few people.

Peter Hess

Goog cocktails. Nice tapas. Friendly service. Hip location.

A Good Bird watching site

Emma Nolan

Nice easy walk, when the tide is in I'd say the views are better. Lots of birds to spot and well marked out for social distancing one way routes.

A perfect slice of West coast wilderness, volunteer run and open 24/7 they even sell plants that are native to the area and work to keep out invasive species!

Chris Hylton

Great place to get away right close to the burbs. Bring your spotting scope and a lunch. So much to see. Next year it will co-host the international ornithological conference!

Glenn Johnston

Great place for individual or group walks to see local Nature .

Karen

I've never been to such a place before so I didnt know what to expect. It was a forest with a lot of view points of open areas (you cant access the open areas) where you can see birds. Went around 1pm and couldn't see any but saw a turtle walking about. Was kind of boring. If you're an expert check out the place, if you just want a cool place to check out, go check out Minoru park in richmond instead as they have rabbits hopping around.

Sam Joshva Baskar Jesudasan

A treasure for bird watchers

stefan schreiber

Always fun to walk the walk!

Holly Comeau

The Forest trail is about 45 minutes around at a slow to medium walking pace. It is a level trail with no walking hazards (ie: roots). Totally wheelchair and walker accessible.

Detlef Beck

Great walking and birding area as spring starts!!????

Troy Tyrell

Nice place to watch birds

Ceesandmarta van de Mond

Great place to come and enjoy the shoreline and the birds. Don't bring the dog, because they're not welcome in large parts of the flats, on account of the birds.

Brady Patterson

This is a little gem in the city. The Wild Bird Trust operates here in the flats and has done a brilliant job of restoring much of the habitat here. A great long location for a walk in the woods.

Nice place for a small hike and definitely of great interest if you are a bird and butterfly lovers. The hike was about 1hr and mainly all flats ground with lookouts every about 100/200 meters. The hike I would say is a beginner level hike.

Michael W

Wish it will forever keep this way: a quiet eco park still mostly in a minimal developed state. The federal facility there offers guided tours periodically. Hope to attend one soon.

LowTEC Dracarys

I was expecting to see a wide variety of birds there today, nope, only a whole bunch of seagulls, a few crows, a heron, and a few small tree birds that's it. No osprey, no eagle, probably the wrong season but I have seen a lot more in other parks in GVRD

Nikk Sandhu

One of my favorite walks.

JD McAdam

This is one of our favorite places. Obviously a great place for bird watching, but the sea life in the tide pools and the plant life throughout the area are also fantastic. Totally free (including parking) and a native plant market on Saturdays.

Jeff Francis

Nice little area to walk around in the quiet coastal woods... looking at scenery... hearing and seeing the birds flit around and play. A nice stroll.

Selina Ma

Love this waterfront park as it's relatively hidden (look out for the turn-off!). Not a long trail, but with the small beach areas and adorable wildlife, you can spend a few hours here. Parking is difficult as there are only about 10 spots on the side, as the parking lot is reserved for building guests

James Marshall

The parking situation was confusing, because the employee parking area have 10x as many spots as the visitor parking. But the birds were adorable, and it's cool to have a natural spot in the city. The views across the water were entirely industrial, which is a bit of a trip.

Jade Andersen

This place is a hidden treasure. I suggest you check it out if you are local or coming from somewhere else. You can spend at least half an hour walking around and taking in the sites. And I am pretty sure there are a lot of cool birds here if that is something you are into.

Beautiful great place

Tazia R. Khushboo

I absolutely loved the peace and calm at Maplewood flats.

Mateja Seaton

Very peaceful area for a walk. Although the parking lot fills up quickly, it never feels busy once past the entrance. The trails wind through a forest of deciduous trees which offer nice variety from all the usual evergreens on the North Shore. Birding is hit or miss throughout the year, but was great on an early morning in October this past weekend (red-tailed hawk, kingfisher, western grebe, sandpiper). Easy access to the beach when the tide is out, and amazing for blackberries in the summer!

Spencer Quimby

Very well kept trails and just a beautiful place to get away from the city for a while. A true hidden gem.

Adam

Joy Full

Easy hiking. Flat trails. All ages. Nice spot for young kids or seniors if a flat terrain is desired. Spots for birding, or short stroll. Accessible spot to get dose of nature without leaving the city: its a stone's throw from the highway exits/city centre. Nice look out points. Spotted yellow double crested cormorant fishing on the most recent stroll. Ospreys, and spotted towhee.

Aimee lewis

pretty park

Angela Geib

Wonderful trails, birdsong is lovely in the spring and summer. One area makes me think I'm in the Amazon. Very lush and peaceful. Lots of bird life and I once came across a coyote on a trail. Not a long walk but certainly very enjoyable. Great views of the ocean as well. Totally worth seeing.
