REVIEWS OF Deer Lake Park IN Burnaby

Love bringing the dog here. Nice leisurely walk in the city and it's quite peaceful. Lots of other walkers all the time.

Neeharika Gupta Gupte

Great for a stroll. Mostly flat trail, lush green and beautiful.

M C

Terrific location free parking porta potties right now due to covet I believe the lake is gorgeous some spots in the shade a lot of sun a beautiful park with flowers and a great place to get together lots of space for social distancing. Only drawback is all the goose poop! Make sure you bring chairs or a blanket that has a tough side on the bottom or it will see right through and there's no getting around it at least this time of year (late aug) kids playground too!

Ken Xu

Great place for family fun and autumn leaves shots

Benajir Shams

I went to Deer lake park on October 05 2019. Most part of the lake did not have any Fall color. However, the side of the park near Canada way had a very different look. On that side, trees were full of vivid orange colored leaves! More specifically, the location was between Burnaby Village Museum and RCMP building.

Hosein Baradaran

This lake is beautiful place to hike along the lake trail was awesome

yeram LEE

Love this peaceful park. It reminds me like small central park. you can catch up small duck family.

Firoz Ozman

Beautiful lil lake. Calm water making it easy to canoe.

Tariq Malik

Lovely neighbourhood park , with excellent walk areas, pretty picturesque landscape. Visit on a nice sunny day and you will love it.

LPS FudgePaws

I like how in Shadbolt center of the arts; next to deer Lake, the atmosphere is very calm, and you can hear different instruments almost all the time. The view of the sky and lake is beautiful. It's a creative place, with performances and gallery showings once in a while, as it is indeed an arts center.

Diva k

Relaxing and beautiful place to enjoy sere nature , water around , can sit for long or can do boating.

Gary Kroeker

Hart House. Great service great food and an excellent host. Community Savings Credit Union

Jessica

Beautiful area by the water with a few choice restaurants, art galleries, historical museums, a children's playground and more. Perfect for a picnic, or a place to take photos for a wedding or graduation. A large field is nice for walking or maybe some games with a group. Nearby Hart House is a beautiful piece of history, amazing food but pricey. Beautiful and extensive gardens nearby as well as a historical community museum (pay for entry)

Connor Gabriel

I saw no deer, but I saw a lake. I recommend name change to "Lake Park," otherwise it's great.

Anthony

Great place for a scenic walk or jog. It's okay for bikes or scooters as significant portions of the trail discourage the use of on boarded areas. Boat rentals are available for the season up til end of September, however they said weekends only for that month.

I have been visiting Deer Lake for a leisure stroll every Saturday for a year now - rain, snow, ice, fog or shine. It has yet failed to bore me and I just love every visit. I've seen seasons ripen up and go; ducks, geese and sea gulls raise their young, "skate" on the ice, or just do some bird community talk on the small beach or in the shrubs and marshes. Never have I felt unsafe there, and the mix of lake views, walking on wooden or gravel trails in a forest full of light and birdsong is addictive. All trails are very picturesque in any season, and bird watching is definitely entertaining, with plenty of observation spots. All wooden elevated trails are netted for safety, to prevent slipping/skidding; and even in the dead of winter with trails covered in packed snow and ice, it is safe to walk (still, use common sense when choosing your runners or boots). There is a marsh area with birds nesting, a vibrant heron habitat in a group of tall maple trees at the Northern tip of the park, a model airplane field by the marshes, a stream/riparian protected area, a kayak rental place, a warm washroom year round!, and swings on the beach for the younger ones to join the birds in flight. It is really a great urban forest/lake park to suit any need to recreate and relax. Do not recommend it to back country hikers, because the urban vibe, though subtle, is still there with all these conveniences and the flat terrain. For the garden lovers, the exquisite landscaping next to the Shadbolt Centre of the Arts and Burnaby Art Gallery - Century Gardens - is a lovely place to enjoy year round. Coffee at the Centre is good too, especially if it rains too much to your taste :-)

Troy

Super peaceful and great scenery. Dogs on a leash are allowed. WATCH OUT though, Covid has it on one-way route so you can't just wall wherever you want.

Geet Tendulkar

Beautiful . West Trail

Ashutosh Anil

Great park for unwinding within the city with tons of things to do around

Vyta-Dorlyna Maurice Brown

It was a beautiful scenery, especially during that cold fall season. Great walk

Sean Solomon

Peaceful park. Seems like a spot to just chill, stroll through the trail on an afternoon walk or walk the dog. The scenery was very beautiful and the people there kept good distance.

Subhash Bhushan

The long walking trail took us about an hour. Surroundings are serene and beautiful. If you take the long trail, you will touch the road a couple of times before folding back into the trail way. A good trail for kids and adults alike.

Judy W

A great spot to enjoy the summer days on a pedal boat, also kid and baby friendly. Not busy when we went

Arnaud Guanco

Great place to relax and unwind on a sunny day. Just no place to get some coffee or snacks in the area. Very accessible.

Fahd Chaudhry

Amazing little park with a great lake city view of Burnaby overlooking Brentwood! The park also has a very nice defined wooden walkway! Because of COVID-19, the walkway is currently one way but still a fun walk. Lots of ducks to play with near the water and easily accessible by transit too.

saptarshi mallick

Such a beautiful place with some sweet and cute spots to enjoy. I was ecstatic to see that there is even a place for renting kayaks and paddle boats to do stuff in the water. The lake is pretty big and there are trails all over the park.

lino joseph

Nice walk along the protected wet land ~ meadows...place has a deserted look so not the best to go alone....

hadsh fitwi

It is a very beautiful place I thought it is very small but it is an amazing park. Go and enjoy.

MANBIR RANDHAWA

One of the best spots to enjoy the beauty of Vancouver, take a long quite walk in ur solitude or just chill with ur friends n family on any day. Tranquil beauty of the lake , side walk and a splendid park will take u far away from the noise of the busy world. Walking your pet here is amazing. There is a small water stream going beside the park somewhere that fills the air with its sounds of water flowing down. To many times, i happen to cross this area n never did i realize or had time to check it out. And when i did , it was mesmerizing. Never too late. There is a old village museum close by where you can take ur kids to explore n have a ride on the crousal. Infact a fancy restaurant called "hart house" is close by too The lake surrounded by park reflects sky blue n green in summer time n all white in winters. It looks equally beautiful though. It seems like poet in me is talking now. Go check out this place plz.

BHANU PRAKASH SHIVAGANGAPPA

A cute small lake for a quick family outing. It is a perfect place to try kayaking or paddleboarding for beginners.

Kathleen Barrette

Great walking path around the lake. Some nice benches to sit at, and looks like they have paddle boat and kayak rentals. Lots of birds, and even saw a couple turtles.

Dewi Trisnawati Tjahjadi

Great view on Deer Lake Park. It was freezing winter when we came visit the lake, still quite a lot of people came by. Because it was very chill, they spent a few minutes there, took a picture, and headed off. We brought our dog, and we saw some other poeple also brought their dogs. They all seemed happy, despite the cold weather. There are free parking by the lake side.

Michael Fuchihara

Deer lake is a beautiful park and a great place to walk your dog on leash. There are many path options and the views and natural diversity are beautiful. Recommended.

Balwinder Minhas

Good short walk around the lake.

Azadeh Adibi

Nice hiking trails. be careful you might get lost and bitten by bugs!! there is also a beach for kayaking, you can rent them!

Myles Lok

Awesome getaway in the heart of Burnaby! Truly felt like you were far away from the city deep in the trails. The lake was also very relaxing with a nice backdrop of Metrotown.

Paul Cikatricis

Beautiful lake and park to relax on a pretty day. You can rent a boat or pedal-craft to paddle around the lake. There are beautiful water lillies on the north side if the lake. Plenty of areas to sit down or walk around discovering the nature. Please be respectful of the birds and other wildlife, it’s their home.

Lucas Rabello Simões

Enormous park with an enormous lake with an enormous boardwalk. Plenty of open space, an arts centre, art galleries and a village-museum. There’s a lot to see here. Great for sunsets, picnics and nature walks, different small secret spots to find, right in the middle of the city.

A Frewan

Wonderful park quite place beautiful lake .

Ahmad Pirani

This is a very beautiful place. Looks like you are viewing at New York city from the parking lot. Speaking of which, parking lot is deadly small for the size of the trek and no street parking. Food scene around is not great at all. So make sure to get your own picnic basket.

Devon

Beautiful late for boating and fishing alike. Spent 2 days this weekend here to fish and got some great views and yo see another fishermen catch a beast of a fish.

Barbara Rokeby

Great place for a jog, or to walk the dog. Also nice in fog and there's a bog. Boardwalk, birds, beaver, etc. Even a fake barn for a movie set with rubber barbed wire!

Rodrigo Ceolato

Pretty busy, but very beautiful. Will go back the next time.

Sarah Le

Beautiful view, good place to relax

Surabhi Pasrija

A very small but calming lake ????

Jason Chow Vancouver Real Estate

Large, beautiful lake in the middle of the city surrounded by pricier homes and most of the tourist attractions in Burnaby. There are kayaks or peddle boats for rent. Lots of parking.

Olusegun Fagbamiye

Relaxing and peaceful. If your goal is to have a nice relaxing time with the family or to have a nice time on the lake, deer lake is the place to be. There are a variety of boats you could rent to enjoy the lake , from the one person kayak to the four person pedal boat or you could just bring yours . There are also nice spots to setup for a picnic . The staff are still doing a great job of providing sanitizer and observing social distancing measures . Be sure to bring a clear bag to keep your electronics, you don't want them getting wet.

Ashley Leow

Beautiful park with a round flat lake trail, playground, ducks and geese. Perfect for families, children, basically everyone. Has washroom; canoes to rent also. Careful of street parking if it says no parking don't park there, even if there are other guys, city of Burnaby is very efficient in giving out parking tickets when they make their rounds.

Paola Estefania

I love deer lake park .. if you have kids take them here at the day .. they can play with ducks and swings , run and ride on the boats (you must pay for this and I do not recommend those who have pedals, they tire you too much and are slow, if you rent the long boats to rowing you will need less effort to move a greater distance) .. If your case is like mine, and you like more outings that feed the soul, buy a coffee, invite your favorite person and enjoy a talk just when it begins to dusk .. beautiful view and without a doubt the perfect place to remember , laugh and why not? cry too! I love more the fact that it is close to my house!

James Chen

Excellent park to visit conveniently located to city centre. Fresh air, vast greens and great view of the lake. Popular destination for wedding photos. Photos filtered. Just a small portion of the park.

Rafiqul Haque

Beautiful park to take your kids for a hike. This park is different than the others in terms of how it is laid out. There are long stretches of walk through fields. Some parts are through new forest like growth. There are also elevated trails in some areas. You could learn a lot about plants and vegetations if you use the Google lens functionality (e.g. Salmon berry, red clover, field horsetail etc). Furthermore, we saw many slugs beside the path.

Johnson Chan (JC)

Beautiful place to lie down or have a gathering during summer.

Jocelyn C

Great place, pretty large, ideal for walking and jogging.

Cassandra “CassNyanDra” Siedschlag

Nice easy walk around the lake, plus baby ducks and geese right now!

Nancy Boucher

Beautiful scenenic walk around Deer Lake. The added bonus was the 200 steps to climb. Who needs an indoor stair master, when you have the great outdoors!

Dude snow

It's a crazy busy little park. Very beautiful when the rhododendrons are blooming ????

George L

The loop trail around the lake was calm and felt weird since it was so heavily forested and yet you could see skyscrapers not too far away in the distance right behind the trees. The Lake is beautiful and is home to a variety of creatures. I would definitely coming here for a calm relaxing day at the park. It's not the cleanest lake though and the trail is only one way which was a bit annoying

Xu Wu

One of the few parks can fly drone in Vancouver. Do mind the mosquitos tho

Tony Dong

Beautiful lake, good place to walk and enjoy the view.

Rick Kumar

This is a good sized lake with green area around it where people can walk or jog. You can rent kayaks, paddle boats and canoes from the shop at this lake. The prices are very fair approximately 25 to $30 per hour for any kind of boat from one to four person capacity. Obviously they also provide life jackets. You can also bring your own boat. You can also fish here. There are lots of ducks and goose and this lake and they are not afraid to approach you. There are two public washrooms for both genders. Car parking is of good size and I have personally never had any issues finding a spot.

Ali Jassim

Lovely trails for hiking and biking, lots of wild life and habitat for many species

Sim

Always fun and a great nature walk not far from the major streets

Sabrina Lue

Always have a pleasant walk by the lake.

isacc morrison

Great escape in the middle of the city!! Park by the beach or off of Royal Oak, either give you access to the trails. You will find everyone from families out for a fun afternoon to hardcore runners making laps around the lake. In the spring and summer the boat rental opens up and you can spend a nice day out on the water. If your lucky you may even hear a concert playing at the amphitheater!

MANN Niyati

Deer lake park is extremely beautiful this it’s near Burnaby Village also has a good parking slot these days parking is closed due to covid and all park trail has been done in to one way so you need not to cross one another by face to face. Other sides of the park has been marked as wrong way. It has small long and medium trail it’s up to you capacity. All the trails has beautiful views . Some sides have amazing panoramic views. Boating is closed at Deer lake due to COVID19. There’s no shop nearby so if you feel thirsty and hungry soon you need to pack your lunch and water and please keep the park clean don’t mess it. There are toilets and most of the time these are clean. I afraid using them these days. You can see many kind of tree and water birds depending on the month. So enjoy the trails and keep the distance follow rules.

Jonathan Rogers

I had here last week with my friends and family. We had passed wonderful time together. I would like to recommend this place for everyone who want to spend some peach of time.

sevara ismailova

Very beautiful place. You can rent bout or canoe. Walking road is very comfortable, there are benches to sit if you r tired

Marc C

Great place to take the kids out on the water in the summer. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed. There is plenty of free parking. There are also public washrooms. Lots of great trails for walking. It could be improved by expanding the playground.

32 Ermalin

It's so nice we love here

Kathryn Plante

A great park to spend time in. Very popular but easy to keep your distance on the trails.

Hellen Lozano

Really nice place to do many activities like running, canopy, cycling. You can take beautiful photos and enjoy the sunset.

Genevieve Desjardins

Great park with a nice loop to walk around the lake.

Edwin Nathaniel

Great place for a run, fishing, or casual walk with family. I wish the Burnaby Park can educate the visitors more on the wildlife situation and suggested the proper equipments

Rahat Khanna (mappmechanic)

It is a very soothing and serene place to relax on any day. If it is sunny you can rent a kayak or bring your own and relax in the calming water with a view of the Metrotown Burnaby skyline. Also surprisingly for a small lake they have a small beach like playground for Kids to play with sand. Amazing for walking or jogging too. There are awesome restaurants nearby.

Jennifer Kleinsteuber

Beautiful and relaxing walk around Deer Lake Park today with my best friend. We watched the Blue Herons building their nests as the sun was setting. I highly recommend this park for an easy light stroll. Dogs welcome.

Leere Park

You must rent a boat and just wonder around at least once. Really enjoyed my experience here.

Kenyatta Sterling

Very relaxing walk around the lake after work.

Definitely a fun place to go kayaking with friends and family. Would go again since it's so easy to get to.

The great park. I went with the kayak with friends and had a great fun there!!!

Gi SL

Here is amazing! Now I think this is the best park that I visited since the beginning of 2018.

Lu Tim

Very beautiful lake park, thee is a trail around the lake for about 40 mins to walk a while run. Family friendly.

Rohit Chhabria

Deer lake park is hot destination for local residents. Great place for kids to have fun , swings, sitting area, parking is hard sometimes but people come and go, so it's not big issue. Great spot for fitness freaks running, warming up, exercise. Nice view of sunset. Come and have view and feel blissful what nature had given us.. Bottom line this place is for nature lovers.

Martin KO

I come here to find mental peace from the craziness of the city. It’s just a 20 minute drive from Vancouver and has lovely trails around the lake where an abundance of bird life and flora thrive. In the mornings, there are people from all walks of life, and from different cultures who come to find peace here and get some light exercise. It’s an excellent place to take dogs, with many dog owners enjoying time with their pooches. There is a facility to rent kayaks, water bicycles and other water sports for a very reasonable price in the summer. It’s also an excellent dating place, very romantic in the evenings and at sunset.

Shyinne Anastacio

Cheap kayaks and nice views!! Stay out of the water though!

jordan kennedy

Great place to bring the kids to do a little fishing. I was there on a school outing with my son. They went kayaking and had a blast.

Linda Ann Farruggia

Always a treat to spend time at Deer Lake. Our favorite hiking spot in Burnaby, the boardwalk loop is about 45 mins easy walk, lots of different trails around can make it into a longer walk with little hills and beautiful views all around. Sometimes turtles can been found sunbathing on a log or frogs can be seen around marshy areas along the edges. Geese and ducks are always around swimming in the lake. Picnic areas provide a fun area to hangout with family and friends. If you get a chance, go and explore this precious part of Burnaby.

Magnetic Animalism

Nice place to walk and see the sunrise.

B BERAHMAN

It's amazing place with trail way and also great view, trees , lake , boating, beautiful sunset. I actually enjoyed walking around lake????❤

Matt Araszewski

Good place to walk, nice lake views (no swimming), geese can be a bit annoying. Pedal boat, canoe rentals are fun for an hour also. Although I believe they only operate in the summer

Glorianne Chinn

Rented kayaks and enjoyed this peaceful place. Beautiful grounds, gorgeous gardens.

Faizal Khan

Really nice park for a walk, day picnic or just to chillax for an afternoon and read a book.

Sabrina Sullivan

Wonderful outdoor walking and nature views!

Mir Ahmad Akbari

I am amazed to visited this Beautiful Park with incredible Lake and lots of trees this park is a great place to walking + Running

Sebastien Francal

Great park for a nice walk around the lake,. although quite busy. The small parking lot by the boat rental is usually full. Now with covid, there's only 1 way around the lake and fortunately most people follow those rules

B R

A natural park amidst the Burnaby. Free parking, clean public restrooms and long trail that surrounds the lake.

Rachel Windsor

Such a gorgeous park!!! You can walk around the deer lake or go for kayaking, enjoying the beautiful scenery! You can even see wild animals here (unfortunately, we didn’t have the luck)! Even in late October, most of trees do not have that many leaves left, it is still very colorful / beautiful on a sunny day!!! Highly recommend it!!! Btw, don’t forget to take a stop at Century Garden, which is a very nice place that is great for photos!!!

Reena B

Great place for a walk and picnic by the trees and water , and your kids will love it too

bob stone

nice lake park with A village museum and a art center.

Manuel M.

Perfect for a walk and meditation. Very quite and family focus.

Charis Ord

One of the most beautiful, underrated parks in the GVA. It’s all flat (except one 100m stretch which is a very mild incline,) so super accessible. Mix of gravel road and board walk. Well maintained and picturesque. One-way walking during covid. You might even meet a celebrity since they often do filming in various parts of the park.

Baybars Bagdatli

Do I further need to explain? Photo speaks for itself!

vibhor goswami

Nice park with a good walk around the lake.

Vrinder Sangha (vSangha)

Always fun during sunset.

Linh L

Great food, good service and nice scenery. What else can you ask for.

Patel Ronak

Calm and serene surroundings. It has a nice track (3-4 kms) where you can get a nice view of the lake with ducks floating around in it! There are public washrooms and drinking water.

Great lake side loop trail with a long raised board walk. You can rent canoes, kayaks and row boats. Big parking lot with indoor bathrooms

Manizha A

Beautiful area to take a stroll, the view here is gorgeous. There are lots of goose and geese that like to come here, you can chooses to walk around the lake or rent out a paddle boat or canoe. Overall great place for walks.

There were many bugs, but it was good to take a walk lightly. I saw the kids and the ducks

D C

Beautiful park. With great views and a good place to walk and spend time with family, friends or a date.

גל נפתלוביץ'

A beautiful and relaxing place. Easy route around the lake, mostly shaded. It is possible to rent canoes and sail on the lake. There is organized parking on site. Highly recommended.

Voyager [*]

Great, relaxing walk around Deer Lake. Trail had snow, so be careful as it is slippery. Nice view in any direction.

ice shen

it’s a great place to walk dogs ! good view and friendly people gave us a nice experience !(⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)❤️❤️❤️♡♡

Amy Cheung

Public parking to just the park is a bit confusing since there is the Burnaby museum and civic buildings along the way. The lake is beautiful but trail has been revised so you don't get that close to the water.

Miguel Zhou

This is a nice lake/pond when it's earlier in the season and just a bit cooler in temperature. But it's a goose/duck water so be careful of getting the itch. It also becomes very busy with people enjoying the walk around the water or those on the beach so be patient and kind as you try to get a parking spot.

Mark McLennan

Came here for The National and realized the venue was outstanding. Easy to get to and plenty of services when you are here. The selection of food trucks for this show were on point and the lines were long but moved fast. I even had to talk out cash from an ATM and the fee was only 3.25 which under the circumstances is the best I could hope for.

Selina Yang

Winter wonderland after a big snow ❄.

Marina B

Should be named duck lake park, lol...has lots of geese & ducks at the lake. Can do all sorts of activities, passed by a wedding on our walk up to the museum, it's a beautiful walk through & or there is activities for kids of all ages. Nice place!...for those Pokémon hunters there's a stop there as well.

Jamie Lee

Full circle around deer lake park is about 4km, mostly wood decks as it’s swampy. Onthe north side, there are art galleries, burnaby village museum, and few good places to drop by. East side has a good sized parking lot and its’s nearby the boat rental place. This park has a nice water front area there for bird watching and a playground. you can see metrotown area from here.

Jeannette JJ MacInnis

Stunning location. Was attending a wedding on the lawn in the back of the deer lake restaurant. Separate space with washrooms and seating as well.

Kenny T

Love it especially during summer. We went there on our first kayaking at it was fun and relaxing.

Kevin Shen

Nice workout walking around the lake. It also has a tiny beach on the east side of the lake with a few swings.

Sa Na

akhilesh kumar balakrishna pillai

Beautiful walking trails, swings, places to fish and kayak. The Lilly pads are a particular favorite of mine and they have washrooms available, which is nice.

Ali Fayyaz Karim

Nice small lake within the city. Decent enough for kayaking or pedal boating ????

Salman Haji

Breathtakingly beautiful even in freezing temperatures!

Kitty Kong

Didn't see any deers but a lot of geese! Tranquil and nice place for a walk round the lake. Met a lot of joggers.

Samar

Great park, good for inflatable boats and kayaks, great for pre wedding and post wedding photo shoots, nice trails for walks and runs.

June Tulips

This was my 1st visit to this park. I've lived in Vancouver for just over a year but haven't had the chance to do too much exploring yet. I took the skytrain as close as possible and then walked the rest of the way, next time I'll try the bus, it was a long walk to get to the hiking trail! It was worth it though. Such a beautiful location and amazing views. The park wasn't too busy so there were times to just stop and soak in the nature around. I got to see sunbathing turtles and lots of birds. ???? I will definitely being going back soon.

Laurie M.

Lovely spot! The boardwalks and trails are well maintained, nice benches and generally friendly vibe. Amazing, so close to the city, but it feels like a world away. An urban oasis! Would be great if they had more bike trails.

ahmed alsunni

It’s amazing place visit so calm and beautiful I wish I can share my drone video but this is some screenshots from my video if you ever come Vancouver go and visit the park and the lake so beautiful

Keith L

Beautiful small lake that you can kayak there and very safe. Other activities include running fishing , bbq, picnic, etc.

Richard Rigby

Amazing spot for a walk around the entire lake. Got pictures of a turtle sunning on a rock, An East Indian couple dressed in very colourful clothing that were being filmed and a griebe, drying out his wings. Boat rentals, a place to fish, interesting rockery and of course the site of many music events including free Symphony performances, Blues and Rock concerts and festivals. Enjoy the Shadbolt Centre for dance, music and theatre performances as well as many arts classes. Also the home of the Burnaby Art Gallery and the Historic Burnaby Village. For a nice splurge have lunch at the historic mansion restaurant called. The Hart House They have specials during the day that can make a meal there a real treat with out breaking the bank. Great views of the lake, too.

Jaffy Malagar

Great park for exercise like jogging or walking. Good for observing wildlife as well.

Margaretha Joseph

One great week end @Deer Lake Park, Burnaby. Nice weather and happy company.

Suseh Nievares

It's a lovely, fairly peaceful park to go for a walk or just sit and enjoy the view. There are great concerts on the lawn.

A Aboelnoor

good walk on a sunny day. The lake it self is not beautiful from all areas, n more like muddy. The boat rental is cheap and easy as the water is pretty still over there. I recommend to have a snack with you as there is no place to buy food in there, there is plenty of water though. You do not need to be in swimming suits to rent the pedal boat as you board the boat from land. Thank you

Ambar Bin-Soekardji

Really gorgeous place with awesome boat rentals. A perfect place for a date. I recommend bringing some snacks to eat while you're out on the water. I think 1 hour is enough for rentals because the lake isn't that big.

m Rafi

The trail is nice but ait bit longer . There are scope for water sports as there is a rental shop for it.we used to catch fish alot last year from here, but now there is not much

Samantha Liang

Really nice park with a lovely little beach area. You can rent canoes and kayaks as well which is very nice for the lake view. A hidden gem in Burnaby.

Lawrence Holbrook

A well maintained gravel and boardwark trail allows park goers to circumnavigate the lake. During Covid, it's a one-way trail in a clockwise direction. Those looking to enjoy an outing on the water can rent kayaks, canoes, and - God forbid! - pedal boats (your knees can thank me later ????) from the Deer Lake Boat Rentals outfit at the eastern end of the lake near the parking lot and the toilet blocks.

Tanmai Bhatia

A beautiful park and the lake is gorgeous as well. if you get a chance to go boating the rent per hour is totally worth it (and there's some really nice workers to help). there are lotuses in the lake which I thought was a wonderful little surprise. I was shocked to see them! if you have the endurance for it, go out to the middle of the lake, go to the end of it and just spend some time there! eat in the middle of the lake! Look at the Ducks! Be one with nature ! you'll really enjoy it!!!! the park has a trail as well. it's a little small for my taste but I saw that there was a venue for a wedding in the middle there so I guess that you could have a wedding reception or something? it's not really a trail in the traditional sense because its a raised wooden path on which you can walk (weakkk) but the benches are really nice and they all have a nice view of the lake all in all I think a cute lil place to go for a picnic or a boat ride, for bonding with your friends in a non-traditional format!!!

Amazing place! Located centrally within Burnaby, it offers a lot of nature right inside a busy city. There is a boardwalk that surrounds the lake offering several kilometers of great nature.

Athari Al Janabi

Nice place for a walk, exercise, kids and older people friendly

Craig Vollweiter

Great venue for outdoor concerts. I have been there twice now for concerts end it is superb. Well done at Blue festival, ii have this on my radar for future venues

Lester Lin

It’s a very serene place usually. Extremely good place to run, as there’s a variety of different terrain, from hard hills to flat land. Absolutely beautiful when it snows. The entire park just turns into a wonder winter wonderland.

Ken Ju

Kayak, hike, fishing need a fresh water license. Good luck.

Daniel Lin

Great scenery when the weather is great. Fairly quiet at times, great walking trails and photo opportunities. Great for families to have a nice afternoon.

Rambling through the digital age

Always a great place to feel in touch with nature. They do boat rentals there, we have rented canoes and kayaks and they are both a lot of fun. It's nice to have this little oasis in the city.

lily hsueh

Very hot. Thousands small fish in the lake, dragon flies are mating. The boat renting place staff are much more pouty than usual, probably for the heat wave. Water is cool and warm both. White lotus along the lake, beautiful.

Noc

Nice short walk. Takes less than 30 minutes or so to walk around the entire lake if you don't stop much on the way. Its generally quite clean with plenty of room for runners to pass by.

Briana Harris

Beautiful path to walk around the lake!! Got to see the resident bald eagle in flight!

sheri cormier

It's a lake small but pretty probably bout 1.5hr walk in loop. Worth the visit ...also check out Burnaby village museum it's same area.

Brian Ross

I rented a single seat kayak for an hour. Very calming. An urban oasis.

H Ef

Spacious, green and family friendly. Has seasonal events on the lot so check out the Burnaby events calendar.

Ricardo Souza (RCDMK)

Beautiful landscape, with nice walks and playground. Great to exercise, bring your dog for a walk or your kids to play.

Michelle

This is a nice spot to take a walk. They also have kayak rentals, which are reasonably priced. The water is great to sit by.

W T

An awesome park that rivals or exceeds Stanley Park for diversity of wild habitat, myriads of trail options and more civil facilities for grass sitting and picnic action for those who like staying close to their cars. Water access for personal boats or rent pedal boats right there. A special.park that appeals to all yet feels very private. Go there!

Craig Mckee

With the art gallery, Shadbolt center deer lake museum and the hiking trails one could easily spend the day here.

Chris Wood

Deer Lake Park is the park jewel of Burnaby. Multiple walking trails around the lake of various lengths. Boat rentals and stocked trout fishing.

Ana Maria Tsougrianis

The smell of wild roses and the sight of rare plants and flowers, turtles, accompanied with the sounds of birds chirping around the lake made our walk unforgettable!!!!

Erick H.

Magnificent and peaceful place to take a normal picture and capture this view , I couldn't resist the temptation to step out from my vehicle and take these pictures

Cara Miller

A beautiful day in deer Lake park. Everybody was respectful of each other's space. Lots of pass to walk along. The ground are incredibly well kept. I'm so glad you have beautiful spaces in the lower mainland to get out of the house and enjoy safely.

Dawn Odenwald

Really nice location. Both the lake loop and the longer walk are really nice.

Osama Arafa

Nice place if you want to escape from the city life. Deer lake park located in the heart of Burnaby city so it’s not far from your home if you located in Burnaby. I like the pathway that shown in my photos the pathway protect the nature and keep you clean. Its not a big park but the lake view is really nice and you can set down and meditate.

Karima Kara

Beautiful, quite, sereen, lots of Canadian Geese around floating on the water. Very busy place when I was growing up, but now it seems very quite. Nice place to take the kids for boating or Canoeing. Its really funny, but when I was just turnimg 15yrs we use to come from Richmond to do community picnics, & barbaques here at Deer Lake Park. The adults would be cooking, playing cards, some did performances, dancing & US Kids use to go swimming, using the slide to jump into the water & some would do boating. Those were the days, but now there is no humans swimming on this lake. Just dogs, Geese, sometomes a crow or two can be spoted drinking some water or the Seagals. Good place for walking. Public comes often to go walking on the trails.

Harman K

Awesome trail in Burnaby with incredible views! They also have cool activities available such as Kayaking etc. 100% recommend for walks. It’s not much of a trail to run just because of how busy it is and the narrow bridges. Easy to bump into others.

Sylvia Lau

Easy hike with beautiful lake views! Good for family. Boats rental available.

Jlenia Zago

Great place to go for a stroller walk, jogging or yoga, to spend time with family and friends. Easy to walk all around the park, very nice place to relax. Small playground with swings, boat rental and washrooms.

Tsui-Fang Hu (Tracy)

Good for a walk. Nice view ????

Constance Linder

A lovely place to hike and also easy paddling on the little lake. Kayak rentals on site.

Frank Hannig

Deer Lake Park is a beautiful place to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life in Burnaby. It's a lovely natural setting filled with views of the mountains, nature and sounds of singing birds. Excellent trails surrounding the lake and boat rental place near Western parking lot offers kayaks, canoes and paddle boats.

Shane VanCaeseele

Gorgeous wildlife habitat. Perfect for a walk around the lake, marshes and woods. Frequent family friendly events at the festival zone. Canoe, kayak and paddle boat rentals, and public trout fishing in the spring and fall.

Katie Mulhern

Beautiful walk and right in the city parking is closed right now and you can only walk one direction but it is very well marked

jensen tam

Great place for a walk n row a small canoe. Kids facilities is very old n dirty.

Michael Xu

Beautiful city park with a large lake. The round trip walking trail is great with diversed landscape. It is in a city, but feel not in a city. So natural! Love it!

Martha Lo

Scenic route with hills and flat land. They also implement one way route and most, not all, people respect the rule. You can even see some wildlife there too.

Caitlin C

We love Deer Lake Park! Went a while ago to the boat rental just a few minutes away from the Festival Lawn at Shadbolt and getting to go pedal boating out on the lake was so fun! Ran into (not literally) a few geese, and the walk around the lake was great too!

Jamie Jin

really beautiful park for walking, kayaking and biking around. there is also an annual free VSO concert in the Summer time, plus lots more conerts and arts events.

B K

Peaceful, great place to do a loop. One loop around the lake is about 10000 steps.

patti stewart

My favourite park for walking in all seasons. I’ve seen many birds including a wild pheasant. The use of boardwalks makes the trail accessible for all. Watch for the turtles basking on logs in the spring!

Richard Kwai

Good place to bring dogs for a stroll around the lake. Beautiful place to take some sunrise and sunset photos.

Just Juice

Awesome walk for the family!!!

Damir Sigur

Another great Symphony in the park event this June 30th 2019. I wish we came earlier, to get closer seating. If you sit too far, sound system is not good enough to give you a full appreciation of music. Event is awesome otherwise. Peaceful, musical, family friendly, with great views. Love that there are food trucks too, in the case one gets hungry. Me and my family always like this event. I would recommend to get there at least one hour before concert, to secure seating, and to plan where to park. Parking all around is quite busy. All you need is plenty of time, picnic blanket or a chair and you are set.

Baharak B

Beautiful lake, great place to spend time with family and friends.

Frank Zhou

Great ice view

Leo Chou

A nice loop trail with a good restaurant, Hart House, Centre of Art, and Art Gallery around. But the parking lot is small. It is very hard to find a parking space in weekends.

Min Lin

Deer Lake Park is one of the most beautifully park in Burnaby, BC. There is a pond with lots lively geese, but not swans through. There are lots beautiful natural fresh flowers for viewing, but not for picking though. There is free pieces of cakes to give away during Canada day, but not in 2021 though. As matter of fact, there are lots beautiful parks in Burnaby, Deer Lake Park is one of them though. From:Min Lin. Canada.BC.Bby. 2021.07.09.

Jonah Savard

Love it here. Enough nature to feel isolated. Beautiful light show at night all around when the weather is nice. Lots of benches and places to enjoy the view. Little busy at time. No kids park as far as I know... good for grown up time and quiet walk or young couples. Clean. Not to much birds poopping around to.

C M

A lovely day for a walk in the park! We saw a new family of 19 goslings and their parents. Not nervous of people but Mom called them all to her as a big dog ran near.

Amy Park

The parking lot is small, but there are many parking spaces. The walk was comfortable and nice because it was one way. It's a great place to walk alone or to talk with friends or family. The road is flat and quiet. It's easy to kayak in the lake and the bathroom is well maintained. Swing while looking at Lake is cool, too. I think it is a place where nature and people blend well together.

Kisakya Katonda

Nice afternoon spent with family hoped for fishing but Lilly pad had moved into shore, enjoyed a nice picnic, nice trails and still alot of nature to enjoy seeing different birds. Great place to take little ones.

Audrey T

Nice spot in Burnaby for a walk! Gets pretty busy on a sunny day. The path currently goes in one direction, and it’s a nice park to admire nature around the lake. There’s also free parking, which is always nice.

Susan Graves

Beautiful gem set in between Metrotown and Brentwood. Wonderful walk around the lake. Good picnic grounds. Beautiful fall colors. Paddle boat for romantic activity. If you get a chance stop by Hart House restaurant for a scrumptious meal

Gerard ODonnell

A great walking experience any time of the year. Takes about an hour to stroll around the lake. The usual convention is to walk clockwise around the lake. There is a larger car park and kids swings on the south side of the lake, a good place to start and finish.

Karen Kwan

It is nice and clean place. The staff of the boat rental does spray the life jackets....just the surface of it. The cashier is very experienced, gave us good recommendations unlike the staff at the boat the youngers are not very professional.

Adam Van Esch

Very friendly. Great view. Definitely going to be hitting this place up more.

C C

Many trail length options, a lot of shade/ tree covering. Washrooms usually descent. Many picnic spots and benches through out.

Greg Clarke

Great place to visit, rent a paddle boat, canoe, even a boat for fishing .. lots of room on the water. Clean bathrooms! Lots of parking.

Dennis Y

This is an excellent 'urban' park in the heart of Burnaby, only a short drive from Metrotown. It is very scenic here and gives you the feeling of being in a forest - almost unbelievable that it's basically in the middle of the city. There is ample parking, and at the lake, you can even rent paddle boats (around $20/ HR). The trails are well maintained and very easy for jogging or walking.

Gabriela Landaeta

Love to walk around the lake on the board walk surrounded by all the nature. So quiet, clean, beautiful and well maintained park.

Terry Hein

Awesome park amazing views

J K

It's so beautiful here! I never knew that there was this hidden gem so close to the city. It was was such a wonderful evening to walk around the lake and enjoy all of the natural beauty!

Re

Nice simple lake to go kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating, biking, running or walking. Great place to go kayaking for the first time.

Shubhangi Attarde

Absolutely beautiful place for paddle boating and canoeing!

Skylar Lee

Real beauty of this park is not in the lake but on the way to the lake.

Wendy Tian

Fall foliage is very beautiful, very crowded, avoid weekend and high traffic period.

Amrutha Suresh

Had fun walking and also tried kayaking which was a great experience at a reasonable rate.

Jean Riou

Deer Lake park is wonderful place to walk anytime if you need a quiet place

Nupur P

Cute little place with a walk way around the lake. Has a car parking and toilets.

Leo P

Nice hiking trail around the lake. Magnificent cityscape view with the lake on the foreground.

M Bhatti

Beautiful location makes you feel like your in another city. Great views, lovely trail, public washrooms l, swings for kids and free parking.

Derek Jay

I've been to this park 3 times. I'd recommend parking away from the Royal Oak parking lot, it's a 800 meter walk to get to the lake from there. If you park closer to the Canada Way entrance it's much better. I though the walk around the lake was pretty enjoyable. Not my favorite place, but yeah go check it out when it's not super sunny since shade was far in between. Photos attached were taken on an overcast day and much more comfortable weather.

maria teresa Belmonte

Generally mild rises and dips. Some areas closer to Dover will have longer steep rises. Wide dirt path okay for wheelchairs and strollers. Watch out the dirt paths are shared with bikers. Wooden walkways are only for pedestrians. Pathways are one way however, please try to understand when the elderly and kids go counter flow when they need to go back . Oh yes, walk with a bear bell.

Victor Yeung

This is a park with a small lake for boating. Its location is close to Vancouver. Good trails and nice view.

SZ Z

This is a kid-friendly park. It is a great place to bring your little ones to enjoy the sunshine and play with wildlife. Kiting???? biking????. You can rent a boat here, bring your bbq sets here with friends and family. Summer Cherry Blossoms ???? and Autumn Maple Leafs ???? are also available here in the park. Lots of different types of activities you can do here. Great place to visit and spend your time

Tessie Njoki

Didn't know kayaking would be so much fun????

Joe Kan

Nice late to and unwind. From kayaking, canoeing, peddle boating to bringing your own paddle board! The nature walk is breathtaking too! Long and windy too!

Roisin Gibson

Great food lovely staff what more could you want

Amar Parmar

Winter wonderland people skating on the lake which we normally don't see at the lake

Rashid Muhammad

Nice picnic place with in city. Good for evening or early morning as hot during noon time. Excellent walk track

Victoria N
