This Zoo belongs to the category of Botanical garden.
Beautiful location. Great view of downtown vancouver. The conservatory has so many great spots to sit and watch all the birds and enjoy the flowers. Great for families.
Another hidden gem we found while visiting Vancouver. We were hiking through Queen Elizabeth park and found this odd glass dome atop the path. Little did we know we had access to a tropical forest in the heart of the city!
We've lived in Vancouver for over 20 years and have never previously thought to come to the Bloedel Conservatory until we decided to bring a guest from out of town. Turns out, we've really been missing out on a true gem of a place. We loved it!! If you love gardens, you will be amazed at all the interesting plant species in here! Fun for kids too because many different species of birds to spot and entertaining parrots/cockatoos!
When we visited (middle of a Saturday afternoon), there were very few people. Quiet and relaxing. Great way to spend some time with small children. Lots of parrots, other exotic birds and plants to feast one's eyes on.
Such a fantastic sanctuary for wildlife in this city. Although smaller in size, it is great for families and people of all ages to come enjoy this conservatory. Quite reasonable price as well, $7 for adult. There a re benches and seating inside and you're not forced to exit after one round like most conservatories do. Applaud for the welcoming environment that promotes education!
Best free garden in Vancouver. Could spend hours here.
Beautiful place to visit. Small but makes you feel like you're in the tropics. A good rainy day activity.
Amazing place, I really enjoy visiting from time to time
I just loved the place! I have been there twice and it is just beautiful. The guy who take care of the plants and the birds is so nice and welcoming. Thank you for the amazing job!
Always nice visiting and knowing the entrance fee is supporting a good project, worth every dollar.
This is an OK place for adults, I guess… not very exciting… just a bunch of similar looking birds… But I’m sure kids would be delighted!! They have beautiful trees and birds from different countries… I ended up spending like 30 mins or less in total!
Loved it havent been in years brought out 3 yr old Grandson. He loved it You book online and only a limit amount of people at a time and you can stay for 45 min. Thank you Bloedel Conservatory
Amazing experience, even during COVID. The one hour time frame was the perfect amount of time to admire all the plants and beautiful birds! An amazing gem in Vancouver!
A very nice place to go. Great place to go with your family. I had a very time looking at all the birds. They are all very cute and there is such a big variety of different species. Such a fun place!!! Stayed there for some time, just admiring the birds. A really pretty place too, with all the different plants. I had a super good time!!! A bird even fell asleep on a bench and I sat almost next to it and it didn't move!!! This is such a great place and a great experience as well!! Definitely would recommend this place to any tourist or family. ;-]
Soooo many cool birds. I took my mom here and she loved it too.
Great place to take the kids. There is a lot for them to see and do. The staff were helpful and friendly and provided us with a handy guide with a checklist of all the important birds we could look for. This would be a great place to visit in the grey of Vancouver's winter to get some much needed colour I n your life.
Beautiful place and staff! Took a couple of friends to explore the area and we had so much fun learning about the birds and creatures. Loved the scavenger hunt
Lovely. A very quick tour, but worth it. Lots of exotic plants and birds.
Went here during spring break with my kids. It was very busy but it was so much fun. I loved the beautiful plants and birds, it was an amazing day.
So happy it is reopened from last year due to the pandemic. It is an expensive activity but so fun to do! Walking thru the Conservatory makes you feel like your in the jungle or somewhere tropical on vacation! Can’t wait to come back!
Fun place to visit. Park with beautiful grounds, flowers, and views.
I really enjoyed on my first day in Vancouver in this Conservatory ????. It was a great way to kick off the day! I really liked the fact that the park has natural lighting for the ambiance. I also liked the variety of birds and the variety of plants that were presented. Although it's small, it's suitable for kids and adults. Very affordable for everyone!
So BEAUTIFUL went to Vancouver and went here on my last day with my family. Such a beautiful place to walk around explore. I really like how hey have a a designated area set up for the bees. They could work on bathroom cleanliness, but otherwise good experience. :) also wheel chair accessible for almost all of it.
It is nice especially the fact that they have various bird species. However the price is expensive for a 5-10 min walk around. It is also a moist environment which will fog the lens of glasses as well as professional cameras.
Awesome place to see all the birds inside conservatory. Ticket is not expensive as well. If you are at Queen Elizabeth Park then Bloedel Conservatory is a must see place.
Very enjoyable, not too crowded. Was able to take many gorgeous photos.
Get to see some really cool exotic birds, and do some mellow walking around the building on sunny days. Its definitely worth 6$
Beautiful display of tropical birds and flowers, we really enjoyed it
Nice closed garden and bird sanctuary, well taken care of. It's much smaller than I would have expected and I fear it's too crowded with vegetation and birds. Is this enough space for the birds? I doubt it.
Beautiful place to visit on a rainy day. Such a variety of plants and birds. Staff has done an amazing job in making this place feel like home ????. Every visitor learns a story if each large bird, knows it's age, it's name, it's personality. I am sure we will come back here again ♥️
A little bit of paradise here. I was amazed at how many plants and beautiful birds thrive here. Gorgeous.
Always love coming here. The birds are amazing but the sheer amount of plant diversity is staggering as well! All contained in the center of a public park; how cool is that?
Great place but guess what? Do you know why the birds will remain at their assigned stalls and don't fly away? Their flight feathers are clipped. Understandable, but kind of sad they can't yknow... fly like a bird.
Huge glass dome full of stunning mature tropical plants and birds. Reasonable admission price, but worth a membership (membership includes Van Dusen)
A must see place in city of Vancouver. Variety of plants and greens with selection of incredible birds and one smelly Corpse Flower that if you'd be lucky enough to see it blooming.
Well maintained, with a good variety of birds, plants and flowers. A pleasure to bring kids out for some nature and a splash of water!
Great stop along the way. Warm! Tropical even. Birds, plants, mice , fish. Take 20 minutes or spend an hour.
Really amazing collection of tropical plants, trees and birds. The cuckatoo birds were really friendly. This is my second time there, but loved it both times from the core of my heart. We would go back again and again.
Totally worth it!! You can see the efforts put in by the staff to maintain this place. The plants are thriving and they've got different species, the birds are not in cages, you hear them singing and i guess that shows they are happy. Visited in December, I entered a tropical world and didn't want to leave. Kids and adults will enjoy this place.
GREAT PLACE TO GO ON A RAINY/SNOWY DAY!! I’d say this is a much forgotten hidden gem of vancouver! Definitely a great place to travel to on a day when you get so much outdoors but still want to get some fresh air! The bloedel has a bunch of birds and it feels like a jungle when you go in! Although it’s not massive, it’s a neat and quiet place to meet friends, bring children and is definitely recommending it to those who thrive upon exploring nature’s wonders! Hope you enjoy!!
This place is a must see for anyone who loves birds and plants. Its just beautiful!
This is an AMAZING place to take someone special. Although small in size, the experience is a quality one. Many rare birds and parrots that are living happily in a bird community. They’re flying all around you. They’re majestic, and some EVEN TALK! Bring your DSLR and capture fantastic sights. Would definitely recommend!
Birds! I am a huge bird lover, and I am so glad I went here. Large indoor conservatory with a huge range of exotic birds. Tickets were fairly priced, customer service was awesome. Will be coming back for sure.
Bloedel Conservatory is a very good place to witness some of the rare birds and plants from a over the world that we probably haven't seen before. I enjoyed my time here finding the little birds and learning about them. It is highly recommended for a family especially if you have kids at your home
Only place you can experience birds very closely. Bloedel beats any zoo in Vancouver or Seattle by miles with the close range experience you get with wild birds from all around the world. Not big, but it's a gem. Well worth every penny you pay for this place.
Great place to go on a rainy day. There's an array of exotic birds and beautiful backgrounds to take pictures. You can probably walk through the conservatory in an hour.
Exceptional. For a very reasonable entrance fee you get a lovely garden experience combined with being inside an aviary. And just outside is the excellent garden in Queen Elizabeth park.
A great gem of Vancouver! The amount of life housed in the conservatory is astounding. The cost is low and fun for the whole family.
A plethora of flowers ,plants and tropical birds. A tropical paradise. Highly recommend especially in the winter months.
I went with my 10 year old and we had a lot of fun. There's a scavenger hunt of sorts, where you mark off certain birds and plants as you find them. We were there for about an hour. It's a relatively small building, so there isn't much walking involved.
This place is awesome! It's very affordable, it has lots of amazing birds and plants, and it's such a nice thing to have in the city. 10/10
The Bloedel Conservatory is a little slice of heaven for bird lovers and gardeners. This is the perfect indoor walk on a rainy Vancouver day. This venue is best suited to kids 6 and up, extra fun for big kids who like identifying plants and animals ;)
What an absolute delight! My only regret is that I've lived in the Lower Mainland my whole life but have never been here until now! This place would still be a great deal at double (or triple!) the price of admission. Free ranging birds everywhere, gorgeous lush plants, and it's clearly exceptionally well-taken-care-of. We'll definitely be back!
So fun being able to see Uncle Fester, unfortunately he closed back up the night before we got there. So there wasn't that bad smell we wanted to check out.
Visited at night. Nice view of the city! There’s a ledge you can stand on to see the city view!
Incredible place to visit! Affordable and impressive! Everything well organized and birds are well taken care of! Visited: Jan 02 2020
We spent an hour here and really enjoyed ourselves. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Such a beautiful place to go if your ever in Vancouver. Has amazing live birds & beautiful tropical plants. Perfect to go to for a family outing.
Wish we had more time, the reservation is only 20 minutes. Unfortunately the corpse flower hadn’t bloomed when we went but it was nice to see the other plants and birds!
I highly recommend this place! So many different bird and plant species and it's a little tropical getaway in the middle of the city! Very affordable and you can spend hours here if you are a bird or plant lover.
LOVED this park! What a dream! Gorgeous and peaceful. Highly recommended. The landscaping and views are simply stunning.
Small place but very nice, timed visit makes your visit more comfortable in terms of people around you and it’s enough for that place. Park around conservatory is very colorful in autumn and has nice view to Vancouver skyline. You can go there by subway but then you have to walk next 10 minutes. So photogenic place for all instagram lovers. ????????
Beautiful place with lots of birdies. I only wish it was bigger for that -1 star. They have a wide variety of birds that need more space to fly around though it was kind of fun how fast they would fly past you. Otherwise very peaceful and clean space with great big plants and flowers, could've stayed here all day.
Amazing topical gardens, with beautiful birds flying all around tou. Make sure to allow some time to explore Queen Elizabeth Park, which is also a must see.
I love the well manicured gardens and flowers!
Proposed there just before closing...was great. The atmosphere is there is beautiful
We won free tickets to the conservatory from a contest. Lived here all my life and have never been inside! It a nice short walk around. Lots of exotic plants and birds! Worth going atleast once!
Birds birds birds! This place is a great family day out. I am in my mid twenties and came with 2 friends the same age and we loved it. Spotting all the birds on the sheet that is handed to you at the door is a great way to kill a few hours. Loved it. Watch out for the quail scuttling about the paths though!
Such an amazing place to visit! It felt like stepping into some kind of wonderland. Some of the birds here talk, do little dances, and "kiss" their fellow birds. They're all incredibly beautiful and very cute. They look happy, healthy and like they aren't miserable, as some of the birds in cages I've seen look. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, but not in your face the whole time. You can book 45 minute sessions. The prices are available on the website. The only con I know about this place is that they do not offer a way to pay if you don't have a credit card, unless I missed something. They have a "one-way" path to make sure everything is covid safe, which I appreciated.
Cool plants and even cooler birds! They are currently doing timed reservations, and please note that your reservation is a start AND end time, not an entry window, so you will want to get there as close to the start as possible. Expect to spend about 30 minutes to an hour here. Staff were really nice! Restrooms are separated by gender but with a note that gender diversity is welcome, which I appreciated as a middle ground for this small space.
So beautiful!! When you walk in, not gonna lie, it seems kinda small. But we ended up spending hours here!! They give you a little chart to help you find all the different kinds of birds which was so entertaining and so cute. Definitely take your time. Great for a date!
This is a wonderful dome shaped conservatory/Bird park with lots of birds and plants. The birds fly around freely and are not afraid of humans, sometimes flying and even walking very close to you. They even provide you with a pamphlet at the entrance with all the birds and their pictures on them. It's a wonderful experience, a must see and a nice place to for parents/grandparents to take their children/grandchildren. Would definitely go again!
Great escape when the Vancouver weather is blustery, cold or wet. If you love birds, tropical plants and humidity then visit. Covid protocols are in place so you have to book an online spot in advance. We did it last minute and it worked out well for us. Tix are inexpensive. So go!
What a beautiful place! Amazing birds and plants and very fair prices for entry.
Absolutely worth the visit. I personally think the ticket is worth it. It’s warm and full of tiny but cute birds in there! #worth.
Beautiful Beautiful place. You typically spend about 40 min there ... It's totally worth it. The ticket is 7 cad for adult and 5 cad for seniors. Please do go
What a beautiful oasis! This was my second time here and I really enjoyed the visit. It's the perfect place to visit on a rainy day where you'll be able to enjoy the gorgeous lush greenery and the birds. There are many birds species here and it's fun trying to spot them. We brought our toddler and she loved it.
Exquisite plants and birds! Price is very fair!
Bloedel Conservatory is always beautiful ❤️ my partner and I decided to whisk my mum away as she hadn't been here since the 90s. We checked off all of the birds we saw on the sheet they gave us and it was just overall a magical experience. Highly recommended. You can't beat the $7 admission and my mum had a blast! And so did my partner.
Adorable conservatory with lots of gorgeous birds! My 3.5 year old loved it and the admission fee was reasonable. I just wish the parking wasn't such a rip off! I will definitely be back in the spring when the weather brightens up to see how the features change.
Great place to visit year-round. Many cool birds, plants and other critters to see
This place was built years ago with the propose to conserve endangered birds. The birds look healthy and safe. It's amazing for see tropical plants that you can't find in Canada.
One of our favourite spots in the city. An urban oasis. My 4 yr old loves to find all the birds on the checklist every time. Beautifully maintained and friendly staff. Great place rain or shine. Also a lovely place for my elderly parents to take my son, close proximity to parking, admission is economical and not a huge place so won't get tired. Lots of areas to sit and enjoy inside. Even with the new time limits, lots of time to look around a few times! Gorgeous place.
Amazing place! If you are a fan of popular or rare tropical houseplants you will want to spend your life here. They have a huge variety of calathea, philodendron, alocasia, tillandsia and so much more. The birds are stunning as well, and clearly well taken care of which is very important, so its not like a zoo at all. I have never experienced so many different species of birds in one building. Also, it is SUPER affordable which is great for students like myself. I expected the entrance fee to be much higher and I hope they keep it so well priced. If you are in Vancouver go here!!!!!!
Great place to visit on a rainy day with children! They have some activities that children enjoy and learn from! Employees are very polite, knowledgeable and quite helpful! Had a great Saturday
Spent about 35ish minutes here, I can’t see anyone needing more than 45. I think the ticket price is worth it considering you’re supporting conservation! The birds are entertaining - just watch you dont get p00ped on ???????? A couple of them will say hello or dance around a bit!
Beautiful place, refreshing and relaxing. If you want to make a sneak peek on the tropical landscape this one evokes it pretty well. It's worth visiting!
very nice place, a little bit small but great at the same time
Great spot in Vancouver. Great place for date night as well! Lots of plants and birds to enjoy. The birds are so friendly and chatty. You can spend some time here looking at everything. Entry fee is affordable.
A must-see! I cannot stress enough how lovely this place is. Pick up a "bird spotting" guide and do a couple of laps around the conservatory. Love plants? Keep an eye out for the massive aerial roots coming out of the monstera deliciosa that climbs the walls- or gape at the healthy calathea white fusion. Love birds? Stand long enough by Kramer and he might dance for you. Watch the cheery, brightly coloured zebra finches as they pluck up roots.
I had a great time visiting. There weren’t many people there, so I got to take my time and really enjoy it. I really liked the option to buy a plant in the gift store too :)
Tropical garden filled with colourful birds of all shapes and sizes. Cool place to take the kids to. 30 minutes is all you need here. Very affordable, but keep in mind that parking is not free.
Wonderful venue for birds, plants and fish. Reasonable prices for entry, parking available also.
Splendid, beautiful, romantic, and original. The park is very charming and have many lanes to walk with your loved one. It has an amazing view to the city and the statues are incredibly memorable.
Incredibly magical place. Lots of signs for different plant identification, lots and lots of birds, fish, animals to look at. Sitting on one of the benches and observing nature around you is one of the most peaceful experiences ever, and I highly recommend making it a regular stroll if you love close by. 10/10 love this place.
Amazing experience, lots of unique birds and flora. My only wish was that the time to be inside the conservatory was longer, but it's completely understandable due to covid restrictions at the moment.
It was super cool to drop by and visit. The hill up is a bit steep, but it's a nice break from the cold this time of year.
I had a really fun experience walking through the conservatory. The conservatory is a bit small but was still wonderful to see the birds and tropical plants.
Inside was a bit small but packed a lot of birds and beautiful fauna per square foot. The statues mixed in were beautiful as well.
Big bird fanatic here and I love going to the conservatory—they have a great variety of tropical birds to observe! There's also a scavenger hunt sheet to tick off bird species you've seen and it's a hoot looking for them. I could honestly spend hours in there just watching the birds do what they do. It is pretty warm in there, so dress appropriately! Make sure you can take off layers if needed. I would also recommend going when there aren't Christmas lights up. It's honestly much nicer when there aren't lights! Although, there is a ferris wheel outside in the winter, which is pretty cool.
Pretty cool spot. Lots of cool birds and plants. Great for a rainy day.
Amazing place. This conservatory is a must-see attraction, good for families and groups looking to learn valuable information about different plants and animals around the world and have a great time.
Are you tired of Vancouver's rainy weather?? Beat the blues by checking out this great little gem! A mini tropical getaway, even if only for an hour. Surround yourself with warm, humid air: close your eyes and the smell will transport yourself to a tropical jungle, minus the mosquitoes! Walk slowly and look for the many beautiful coloured birds that are often at your feet. The conservatory is celebrating 50 years!
I used to come here when I was 6 years old and loved it, very fond memories of having a picnic with my family. I recently brought my 3 year old daughter here last week and she had a great time talking with the birds in the conservatory.
Nice place but too tight. Kids like it, especially their gnomes quest. Will take about 30 minutes walking.
A fantastic place to see exotic birds. But they do have a mouse/rat problem that is understandabling hard to avoid with it being so nice and warm in there
Absolutely incredible!! Would highly recommend to anyone in the area to go see! There is a wide diverse range of flora and fauna. The place is very well maintained and I can see that a lot of care is taken into maintaining the amazing place. It is a about $7 entry fee but 100% worth it. I would also definitely recommend check out queen Elizabeth park surrounding the bloedel conservatory, it has incredible seasonal plants! There is also a great view over Vancouver just outside the bloedel conservatory!
Lots of pretty birds and the tropical plants. Definitely worth the money!
It's a nice little diversion to kill some time. Its not huge. It takes about a half hour if you take your time and don't rush it. So it's worth the $8.50. You'll see some interesting plants and parrots. Nothing too memorable but it's nice and quaint. Compared to the bio dome in Singapore it's nothing. That one is about 20 times bigger and is very memorable. Since that is 5 star I can't give this an equal 5 star rating.
Very cool place. Lots of amazing plants and birds, it was fun trying to see all the different birds and check them off the sheet that we were given when we arrived. Staff was helpful and friendly and chatted to us about some of the parrots and rare plants. Make sure to take some extra time to explore the beautiful gardens and grounds around the conservatory as well.
Amazing place if you are a big fan of animals specially birds! It is one of the most unique place I have visited in Vancouver with Tons of birds from all parts of the world. It has a fee associated with the place so you need to pay 6-7 Canadian dollars and you can take as much time as you want to cover the entire conservatory! I love the place because I have never seen so many birds at one place and all were so amazing!
Parking is under construction and parking within reasonable walking distance is not possible. I walked up a steep path trying to find a parking kiosk and had to get info at the top bc don'tcha know there's an app for that. If you know which company and the lot code (neither within view from where I parked) you can escape the $45 fine. By the time I worked out how to register and to pay and in the same MINUTE I paid, some zealous parking guy gave me a ticket which I now have to "appeal". Thanks a lot. Probably a good idea to wait until October 2021.
Not big, but very beautiful place where you have a chance for seeing nice birds, specially parrots
Nice place. 45mins for walk. $7 entrance fee. Beautiful birds and tree. Online tickets are available. Pay and park (limited space) available in Queen Elizabeth park.
Nicely done, colourfully presentation, nice little find in queen Elizabeth park. And only $ 6.50 to get in
Great place to take the family and the prices were quite reasonable. The Arctic Oasis display was quite interesting and it was still quite warm and humid despite the weather outside. Plenty of birds and plants to see with a lot of the plants decorated with lights for the festive season.
A great place to visit with the gf on a rainy day. Lots of neat plants, trees and birds to see. Inside is very warm so leave your jacket in your vehicle.
We were not impressed with the place. It looked huge from the outside but small inside. It is packed with people and hard to move around. Some plants were wilting and seemed in need of nutrients. The plants in the conservatory are just common tropical plants but the unique ones Ive never seen before were the vanilla orchid and the indian fig tree. They both looked amazing. We spent 20 minutes in line for entrace ticket because there was only one cashier.
If you are looking for a inexpensive activity and very interesting experience with plant's from different regions of the world...this is a great place to visit. Very enjoyable!
An inexpensive and fun way to spend the afternoon. The large birds are talkative and interactive. Bird and plant guides provide a self-guided tour experience that can be as long or as short as you like. Climate-controlled tropical setting is a great place to take the family out and about while staying warm.
Always good to be in here. A great place in the heart of City.
Lovely conservatory where exotic flowers and birds are everywhere just above your head. Wished it was bigger and has chairs to sit and relax.
Lovely little way to spend a bit of an afternoon! With current rules, you have 45 minutes to explore which is definitely enough time. Lots of beautiful birds and plants - great for kids I think!
Was in town just for a weekend and a friend recommended Bloedel for its amazing views! The conservatory is reasonably priced.. note that there is no fee to walk the gardens. The views are amazing.
Beautiful! The birds ,the plants everything was lovely. The staff was great. Everyone respected social distancing as they walked through. Spent 35 minutes here just loved it.
Beautiful, relaxing and definitely worth visiting. My kids absolutely loved it and my husband and I enjoyed the relaxing walk. It's a short loop so we did it twice but found it was fun both times as we saw things we missed the first time!
Beautiful, relaxing and definitely worth visiting. My kids absolutely loved it and my husband and I enjoyed the relaxing walk. It's a short loop so we did it twice but found it was fun both times as we saw things we missed the first time!
I’m loving the timed slots! We got in on our specific time (ticket sold online exclusively). The place wasn’t over crowded. The staff were very friendly and SUPER knowledgeable! It felt like an oasis in the middle of the busy city of Vancouver. The rainforest vibe, exotic birds and vegetation gave us the feeling of stepping outside of the city and back! Great place to spend 45 mins with kids. We tried to get the parrots to talk to us, but they weren’t interested hahaha
It's an incredible indoor rainforest created inside Queen Elizabeth park. It has variety of plants and many different birds enjoying in their natural environment. It's very well regulated maintaining all Covid-19 guidelines with prior ticket purchases and 45 minute slots to every group.
Really enjoyed my visited. It was very easy to book a ticket/time-slot via their website and during my visited it was definitely not too busy. I think I spent around 35/40 minutes here, which I felt was enough to see everything. Wonderful collection of plants and flowers and I enjoyed watching the birds. Environment of where Bloedel is situated is beautiful too.
I love this place. Cheap admission. It is not too big, a nice circular layout. Washrooms in the middle. Lots of cute birds and cool plants. Highly recommend for hobby photographers!
Great place to relax when not busy and the experience is outstanding, we enjoyed our trip today and the people that work there are extremely nice and dedicated to ehat they do. I recommend this place for anyone that wants to get away from technology and the city. Thank you all for the great experience 10 out of 5....this place is great ????✔????????
Lovely place. Didn't expect much when we decided to go but loved watching all the birds in there. It is a small place and about 9-10$ for entry pretty cheap as well.
My friend Bradley tells me that Bloedel is pronounced blay-del and not blow-del, but I never confirmed this so I still don't know how to recommend this place to my friends. All I know is that I would. It's quite small inside, despite its confident dome, but absolutely teeming with life. You can get close to a variety of birds, and they are not shy with pictures. Outside is a wonderful network of trails circumventing thoughtful garden arrangements and fountains. For the price of admission, you can't go wrong here.
This is a phenomenal place. It's not expensive at all and the experience is that of an oasis in the desert. I went on November on a very cold and grey day and it was exactly what I needed. With dozens of tropical birds and plants around there's so much to see and it's easy to lose track of time as you just enjoy being there. I have recommended this to so many people in the time since I've been there. This is a must see at least once.
A bit disappointing now if you have been before a couple years ago. They have moved the closest feeder at the end into an enclosure now, you can compare where it was a few years ago from the uploaded photos. May be due to visitors getting too close to the birds, but now just feels like a zoo. Current staff were not even aware of the change. More mice as well compared to last visit, but perhaps not much they can do about that without risking harm to the birds.
Went here in the spring. It was worth the visit, it's wonderful to see the birds close up, not in cages. The conservatory with the domed roof is cool and the view of downtown and West Vancouver is great.
Everytime I go there I really enjoy it. Between the plants, birds and other animals there is always something new to discover. Fun place to go with the family. Make a day out of it and discover other things that the Park has to offer.
I absolutely love this place! More than reasonable price and the plants and birds are so varied and wonderful. It's especially fantastic in winter when it's cold outside. Staff have always been nice and it's just truly entertaining.
Timed entry and a one way path make for an orderly path around the conservatory without navigating through a big crowd. 20 minutes is all the time you get but it's enough and the price is very reasonable to visit. The birds (many of the parrots talk!) and flowers were gorgeous and the corpse flower was really neat! It's a beautiful tropical paradise!
Beautiful gardens and and pathways. The conservatory is also nice.
Beautiful place for a quick outing. The birds are beautiful and you would be amazed with the variety they have. Perfect place to take your kids to, they have some fun activities for them. Plus it is in Queen Elizabeth park so an added advantage. Lot of photo opportunities. Ample of parking available right by the conservatory.
This is a perfect place to visit for a scenic walk during the fall. The grounds are beautifully managed and the conservatory is filled with magnificent birds and wildlife. The conservatory itself can be explored in 30 minutes, and then you can choose your pace for the trails and public artworks available on the grounds.
Very unique and we'll cared for collection of tropical birds and plants. I can't believe Vision wanted to shut it down. Nice place to take a respite.
There are so many colorful birds in this park! All of them are free-flying birds look and sound beautifully! Just for 6$! I enjoyed spent some time on the conservatory.
What a great way to get out of the the cold and enjoy a bit of nature. It wasn’t very big but at only 6$ to get in, you can pretty much make it what you want. Lots to see and plenty of places to just sit and relax
It's a great place, but remember to pace yourself and to look hard for all the birds. Most hide in the bushes and emerge infrequently . Also, this place is a climate controlled dome, so remember that it is pretty warm and humid inside.
Nice place to visit during Christmas, not much to see during night time. Visit a second during summer. Lots of cool birds in action.
It was magical ,You think you are in jongle with tropical weather.Inside conservatory there are lots of beautiful birdes and plants . Casy ( yellow_crowmed parrot ) is the oldest bird in the conservatory .(1962) there is also beautiful park nearby with colorful flowers. I was surprised when visiting the beauty of this place . It's unknown For most of people . There is golf club , tennis court, restaurant and Giftshop .please schedule one complete day to go there.
This conservatory contains so many colourful and exotic birds from around the world! Highly recommended to check out for the wildlife and fauna!
I frickin love parrots and there's so many and they are soooo cute! ???? ???? ????
Smaller than I expected, but worth seeing. Some of the birds are very tame, which unfortunately caused some people to shove cameras right in their faces. I guess they don't know what a telephoto lense is for. If I'd been on my own, I would have spent more time sitting on one of the few benches and just enjoying the birds flying about. A good place to sit quietly is near the feeding area, close to where you would exit. Lots of bird activity there; just be prepared to have to look past the clusters of parents/children oblivious to other paying customers who want to see too.
Neat little spot to see tropical foliage and exotic birds. Lots of different plants to enjoy. If your lucky you might even get to have a conversation with a bird or two.the views from right outside the conservatory are also breath taking. Definitely check it out or add it to you go to list if your traveling here for vacation or just passing through onto greater things.
I come here regularly to enjoy the birds and foliage, and I adore that they offer half off pricing to CoV Leisure Access Pass holders, making this an even more affordable attraction! The gardeners always rearrange and add new lovely plants and decorations each season - hint: notice the lovely air plants hanging in the trees! The space and gendered washrooms are wheelchair accessible. As with all CoV washrooms, trans people are welcome.
Cute but small. Not sure it was worth the 6$. Very cute inside. Maybe 10 minutes max. We got lucky and they were feeding the birds while we were there. The grounds and views are better in my opinion.
A beautiful place with a lot of cool animals and plants to check out. A lovely round gem in the middle of an already gorgeous park!
Tropical paradise for plant and bird lovers alike. It's hot and humid inside with a gorgeous array of colours. T-shirt and shorts recommended!
An amazing place to do some birdwatching. There are also nests here and there; just be careful not to step on the smaller birds because they're all relatively unafraid of humans.
Very cool place to go, lots of amazing plants and tons of birds with amazing hues and colours!
Came with the kids and grandparents and spent a lovely afternoon waking around the conservatory and searching for the birds on our sheet(partridgesfrom India, macaws, cockatoos, etc). The space is warm and tropical with one pathway around the garden. My littles (2 & 3) easily spent an hour here transfixed. During the winter holidays you can participate in a scavenger hunt for little gnomes around the garden, and be inspired by lovely natural Christmas ornaments (succulants growing out of shells - gorgeous!)
An incredibly fun experience, so many birds and plants and the entrance fee is very cheap ($7~/adult). Great place to take pictures!
Most beautiful place to spend a bit of time. My daughter is 20 months old and loves being there.
Great selections of tropical and semi-tropical plants. Wish they have more rarer plants in collection. There are some different species of birds as well that young children will enjoy. Tour will will take at least 30-45 minutes to be able to see the whole place. Entrance fee is affordable bit makes sure u have booked ahead for reservation time slot. Visit their website for booking.
Simply gorgeous park and conservatory that had been used in several filming projects in the past. Easily accessible with a short walk from the light rail or by bus.
Beautiful, beautiful place that is well kept. Very pleasant atmosphere and lovely birds.
Always love seeing the birds in a tropical setting. COVID has decreased the experience due to constraints.
Make sure pay parking or else $40 cad fine. That's the only bummer. But go to conservatory very inexpensive esp if can't go to Butchart gardens.
This is a wonderful little Conservatory that houses wonderful exotic plants and birds. The humidity can be a bit much on a hot day after about an hour. But definitely worth the sights of these flowers, plants and birds. Also, the surrounding park is quite wonderful to walk around. And a lovely water fountain in the middle with plenty of benches for taking a break.
Very small conservatory. Plants were fine. I don't think it's worth paying $8 to look at them though, especially with the limited signage and I don't know why people are forced to reserve and pay online instead of accepting cash on the spot. It's very inconvenient. The rainforest section in the Biodome in Montreal and even Allen Gardens in Toronto is much better than this and it's free. Beware there's a LOT of mice running around! Didn't find it too distracting but do not come here if you think mice are gross. There should've been a warning at the entrance.
My wife and I visited on a beautiful Spring day and thoroughly enjoyed our short but sweet walk around the gardens. It's so great to be able to be out doors again and feel the warmth of the Sun! Definitely worth checking out, will hopefully be back with a picnic to spend the day chilling. On a clear day it's also possible to see downtown from several of the viewpoints.
I think the sights of nature here will have a nice effect for you worth visiting
Do it for the birds. A short walk from the bus stop. Plan to go around the conservatory several times ~ you will see different birds each time! It's worth mentioning that the exotic birds are rescues (not purchased or bred) which made the experience even more special.
Love Love Love this place, we could have walked around for hours looking at all the birds & plants & trees & fish. Just gorgeous, they give you a guide to see how many of the birds you can find as you walk through. They have washrooms in there, nice & clean plus a small gift shop at the front.
Wonderful place to educate yourself and your loved ones, inside a beautiful botanical dome. Be prepared to view it all as slow as possible so that you don't miss all the living creatures in this habitat. If you park down below you can avoid having to pay for parking, it's just a small walk to the entrance. The park around the conservatory is well kept and you're able to walk around it in a short period of time. Good in winter and summer.
Such a fun place to visit and literally watch these beautiful birds in action. I has no clue that it was up close and we were in their environment. But it was such a great experience and our family enjoyed it. Beautiful tropical foliage and streams and bird habitats. Two thumbs up!
Such a lovely place! Highly recommend for anyone….locals, tourists, families and kids! It is a well managed facility with awesome staff. The birds look content and happy and there is so much to explore and learn about. The admission price is also super reasonable and affordable. Pack a picnic for after your visit because the park is stunning and relaxing too!
Always an excellent experience. Lots nice and even a rat roaming around in the plants.
Great place for plant lovers . Exotic garden with a wonderful collection of colourful birds that makes a loud show to the visitors! You can book your visit on line for only 8 CAD, that includes one hour of visit, enough to enjoy the complete place.
I mostly visit the conservatory in the chillier times in Vancouver. No matter what it is doing outside the conservatori feels tropical. There are benches inside and you can sit with a book or a journal and enjoy the sights and sounds. Smaller birds fly freely so if this is A problem for you then I would stay away. Personally I love it. The larger parrots are amazing and all of them have their own amazing character. I enjoy getting to know them. If you live nearby I would highly recommend a membership as this not only supports the conservatory and vanduzen gardens and it will save you a lot of money.
Great spot for kids! Make sure you find Rudy, the bird who will whistle and say “hey bud!” To you. He’ll also say BYE BYE when he gets bored of you. Classic and fun place for families and bird/plant lovers.
I love coming here to look at all the beautiful birds and flowers. A great place to take colorful photos!
Such a beautiful place with cool animals and plants
Nice place. Kinda small. There was mice everywhere running in the bushes when we went there. It's kinda weird that they have like mice running free, but you probably wont notice them if you don't look into the bushes.
Beautiful place to visit and birds are so active and cute!
I was so excited to find out about Uncle Fester from social media and had to see him in person. The conservatory has many detailed signs throughout to identify plants and animals, benches to sit upon and plenty of photo opportunities. I could spend all day there and still miss a few hidden gems. The conservatory even provides you with bird identification sheets.
Great place to see some tropical animals in an equally stunning environment under a geodesic dome. © 2020 honest.local.guide #letsguide #covid
Wonderful conservatory of tropical plants (and birds) surrounded by beautiful outdoor gardens.
Beautiful place to look at plants and birds! One hour time slot and buy tickets ahead of time. Located at the top of the Queen Elizabeth Park. Takes around 40 mins to go around. Lovely dome, would recommend a visit.
Small but phenomenal. The 45 minute time slots are the perfect length of time to slowly walk around about 2-3 times. Great for plant and bird lovers. Great spot to forget about the rainy days and to appreciate the thoughts of summer. Very reasonably priced, and a great way to avoid crowds and get some safe time out of the house. Wonderful for kids and adults alike.
Loved it. Very reasonable price. Very nice tropical garden with many exotic plants and numerous colorful birds. The geodesic dome looks really cool and the park around the conservatory is lovely, with a couple of art installations, waterfalls and benches to relax on. Also, there is a great view of Vancouver and the mountains. I found it way more interesting and beautuful than the Chinese Gardens downtown, and at a much lower price. Will recommend this to all my friends coming to Vancouver.
One of the nicest man made environments.
Not a bad conservatory. Not very big but nice to enjoy for about an hour.
People who run this place have zero knowledge about business. We had a precised schedule when we visited vancouver. They were CLOSED for maintenance. If they took five minutes of their day to update google maps (it is open for business) or at least put signage at the leading path (long bath). But no. Now our daytime is wasted and we can't come back tomorrow. What a terrible way to run a business.
Very nice place. You pay the ticket and get 45 minutes in the conservatory. Price is reasonable. Tickets are around $7. You never spend the entire 45 mins there because you can finish the trip in just 20-25 mins. KIDS WILL LOVEEEEEE IT. Although adults might not enjoy as much but kids will love this place, the environment and such exotic and colourful birds. For adults, one time visit is good but not something you might want to visit every year unless you love birds.
Such a magical place. Definitely worth a visit and even a detour if you're in Vancouver. You'll see many exotics animals and plants and have a wonderful time.
Relaxing, natural, friendly, and better than expected, certainly a recommendation for all ages!
Haven't been here for many years. Went around 5.30PM and it wasn't too busy on the walking paths. Some blooms up and an absolutely wonderful way to enjoy the sunshine.
It is a really nice place with a long variety of birds. A bit smaller from what I expected but also amazing to visite and see all the nature inside this cute place! :)
Great place to visit to check out the tropical fauna and birds. The tall palms and foliage gives off a strong Jurassic Park vibe crossed with a sci-fi feel from the glass dome. Pro tip: admission is included when you have a VanDusen membership.
Definitely worth the entrance price. Was about $16 for two of us to walk around for about 45min. Very beautiful, you don't get the chance to see many of these plants otherwise.
Nice indoor space with gorgeous birds. Staff were friendly and parking was easy to find. Only downside was the absolutely insane number of mice that were running around.
Beautiful view and a place if you're into flowers and stuff like that Gotta love Vancouver BC
Lovely place - full of amazing tropical plants and birds well worth a visit - a bit of a trek though on top of a steep hill.
Scenic and beautiful with kind staff and super cute birds ???? ????
Beautiful lush tropical gardens, birds, koi and many sculptures. Loved wandering through the conservatory gardens. Great views of the city from outside. Wonderful dancing fountain. The kids were having a good time playing in it on a hot summer day.
Such a lovely place to visit! It was a really fun time spotting the different types of birds in the conservatory. It's a beautiful and fun path to walk through with nice surprises at each corner. If you're lucky, you'll even hear the parrots talking.
Great place to visit on a rainy day, there’s lots of tropical plants and exotic birds. Timed and controlled entry means that you have an hour to walk around and it isn’t congested with lots of people.
The bloedel conservatory is very cool and worth a visit. The cost is low while the excitement is high. There are plenty of awesome tropical plants to observe. They have 20+ species of birds flying around that you can find with the help of their bird guide. They also have a self guided tour that is interesting and informational. It is a very fun adventure if you're into birds and/or plants.
One of my kids' favorite place to stop by in Queen Elizabeth park. Well maintained and feel like as if you are in tropical country. Also, you can see beautiful lookout in front of the building.
Small place but worth the visit for $8. Parrots were very lively.
It's small, but you can walk around a few times for the price of admission. The birds are great and you can take lots of great pics. An excellent part of a date for sure.
There is just so much too see! This is a WONDERFUL place to bring kids because of all the birds and plants. This place also comes with public restrooms. You can use your Vandusen Gardens membership card here to go for free. Adult Costs $7 Kids cost $4 and seniors cost $4 as well.
Extremely well thought. The birds are super pretty, friendly and entertaining. Lots of cool plants too!
Beautiful birds and plants. Small groups every hour. Buy tickets in advance during Covid.
So many beautiful birds and plants to see. It was very busy - probably could have used more than one person running the front (admission, gift shop, and refreshment cashier).
Very well maintained and cute little place. Lots of free Birds and plants. Tropical environment. Cockatoos, Macaws, African greys etc.
It's cute and lovely if you enjoy many different plants and birds. I like that they provide a bird watching guide. Admission is affordable. We were very happy to visit the Conservatory.
Located at the Queen Elizabeth Park beside the Season in the Park Restaurant. Entrance fee is $6.5 with tax for an adult. It was my first time visit the conservatory. The conservatory is not as big as I thought, however it has a lot of different tropical plants and flowers. Besides those, they also have many different birds.
We enjoyed exploring the Bloedel Conservatory. We bought our tickets through Vancouver Attractions (VanPass) and we were able to bundle it with other attractions to save some money. It was easy to call and book our 1hr time slot and we were happy to see that we could explore the space with out a big crowd. We spent about 30-40min here and did 2 rounds of walking through the path.
Stunning aviary with a plethora of tropical flora. Absolutely worth a visit
Always a pleasure.. Many species of birds, flora....and the kids enjoy exploring and doing the Conservatory hunt to find specific plants/birds..how fun..adults can do the same.
I freaking loved this place, it was so darn cold outside and snowing when I visited Vancouver but then you enter here and it’s like you’re in a rainforest. So beautiful, all the animals have their own personalities and we adored it. Made us happy! Must go and just enjoy and be appreciative of Mother Nature. Fun place for families and couples! ???? affordable too!
Fun scavenger hunt great for kids of all ages lots of different birds to hunt around for !
Amazing place! They only book 45 min time slots and it was to short. We didn’t really get to see everything bird/plant.
This place is gorgeous! Because of the variety of plants and birds it can transport you to a tropical forest. So peaceful, well taken care of and beautiful.
A great fun place for the family! I found is very interesting and probably was more interested than my toddler. The birds are all very beautiful. It's very easy to book online for a spot to visit, I booked maybe 3 days in advance and it was …
A great fun place for the family! I found is very interesting and probably was more interested than my toddler. The birds are all very beautiful. It's very easy to book online for a spot to visit, I booked maybe 3 days in advance and it was fine but when we got there they said they had no more spots for the day so try to plan ahead if possible!
This is a great place for the whole family to spend some quality time in Vancouver metro area. While the entry is not free, the price is decent (and goes toward the conservation efforts, I believe). This conservatory is situated within a beautiful park that is also very beautiful.
Large variety of plants and so many birds! It is truly an amazing place to visit and explore. Volunteers are often present and will happily explain details of what is around you. Will definitely come back here.
Nice spot, cool parrots. Very small, could see the whole thing in 5 minutes.
Too expensive for only twenty minutes allowed inside now. They should have reduced the price because they cut the timing down to a third due to covid. Normally, they allow one hour inside but 20 minutes is not enough to admire the various plants and birds inside.
This place is an absolute gem! Wonderful place to spend a rainy day checking out beautiful plants and some wonderfully beautiful birds.
Really nice place to visit and at a decent price. The birds are quite entertaining also.
Great views from outside. Small enough inside but we'll worth a visit
Close to Vandussen botanical garden and pretty cheap. It’s a better value if you take time to look at everything in detail and don’t run through it in 10 minutes like many people seem to do.
You have to go all the way there to find out you have to plan your trip and buy tickets online, otherwise you just a sign saying that they are sold out. Then, you wait 5 minutes in front of the building to see lots of people exiting the building and not even a single person entering it. That is just a bad way to operate a business. It was obvious that there was plenty of space to social distance and also keep the birds safe.
If you're visiting Queen Elizabeth Park, you should visit this as well, no matter the season. A variety of birds including parrots are housed here in a temperature controlled environment. It's not too big so the visit can be as quick as 20 mins.
Great place to walk through. The uncle fester flower was an amazing sight to see! The Conservatory is a great stress relief as the sights and smells of all the plants and all the colors and cool bird's is a great distraction from the stressful coid times and bonniefied conditions of our province.
The Bloedel Conservatory is located at QE park. It’s a little tropical paradise in Vancouver. They have lots of exotic plants and birds. For those who like photography, this is a great place to take colourful photos. There are little signs along the way to introduce the birds and plants. They also have information sheets for you to borrow while you walk around. A person can spend a little or a lot of time here. Pricing is not expensive. My family bought a pass and we usually walk around the path twice. It’s very enjoyable for the whole family, old and young. When it gets really hot in the park, we like to cool down inside the Bloedel Conservatory. I recommend this place to locals and tourists!
This place is great, lots of nice tropical plants and birds to look at. There is a fee to get in, but if plants and birds interest you then it's worth the price.
A slice of the tropics! The conservatory is home to many tropical plants and lovely birds that make for a unique experience. Pre-purchase of tickets is required, and timed entry makes the experience comfortable. One hour is ideal for the main conservatory section with tropical plants and birds, and the surrounding area is great for walks, photoshoots and promenade. Needless to say, dogs are not allowed inside the dome, but the area in general is great for taking your dog on a long walk. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, and I would go there again. My only pet peeve was the giant replicas of the corpse flower in the conservatory. I know it is an interesting fact that the flower blooms every 10 years and recently it was in bloom; but I wouldn't want to have giant flower replica inside the conservatory dome juxtaposed with other beautiful real plants that I am looking at, and the birds that I am trying to locate through the thickets! All in all, a great experience :)
The conservatory is fine and kind of a bargain. However, the parking is a scam. There are no pay parking signs at the east end of the lot. Then QR code on the ticket directs you to download an app to pay the ticket. The app is loaded with adds for products unrelated to the ticket.
Loved visiting here! We could have stayed much longer than the allotted time, but we enjoyed each minute there! The birds were incredible, it was fun that they provided a checklist of information for spotting the birds, and the plants were incredible and nicely labeled. Would recommend and go again!
This place is a gem. This poor Floridian was stuck in Vancouver in November, but luckily Bloedel is a tropical refuge filled with my familiar warm and humid climate, tropical plants, and an abundance of gorgeous exotic birds. Definitely check it out. I could have sat there all day.
Beautiful place. Must visit if your in vancouver
Very very incredible beautiful Birds..
The birds really dont mind you being there. They'll let you get really close. It's only a few dollars and worth the experience for children and adults alike. The photo checklist to try and find all the birds was a nice addition.
Really nice place to go. It’s small just like the entrance fee. You gotta spend some hours on the park and make this place one of your best stops.
Been here twice now and love the birds and their stories. Adults 6.25 entree fee. They try to create a tropical environment inside the observatory so it is a good idea to ditch the jackets lol
Very cool, unique place with lots of tropical birds and trees
I was visiting Vancouver when Uncle Fester came into bloom. They had a great set up for viewing and even took the time to take photos for everyone with our own cameras!! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience. Your social media posts were up to date and you responded in a very timely manner on the wait times.
So much fun, it's a small place, but it's totally packed with exciting plants and animals
A Must See! Escape the chilly rain and hang out with tropical birds, plants, and temperatures. Then wander through the gardens outside.
Awesome place! Went to see the Corpse Flower before it bloomed & was not disappointed. Lots of cool things to see, plus bird friends to say hello to! If you're lucky, you will get to hear the handsome Kramer tell you "buh-bye!!" when your time slot is over????
Such a wonderful tropical location nestled away in the local area, my mind was completely blown by how nice this place is! After the social distancing is over, I will definitely be visiting to go to a nice tropical vacation destination right at home!!
A small but beautiful conservatory packed with exotic plants, birds and butterflies. Very reasonably priced entrance fee. I came while the corpse flower was blooming so there was an insane lineup to get in, despite the extreme summer heat. The staff set up canopies, handed out bottled water, and even lent out umbrellas from their gift store to ensure people lining up in the sun didn't suffer heat stroke. I'm sure the cost for all those things was far more than the tiny entrance fee they charged. You could tell they just wanted to let as many people have a chance to see the flower as possible. Absolutely amazing staff! Definitely worth a drop by if you're visiting QE park.
The variety of plants this conservatory has is enough to make the experience worth it, especially with the very affordable admission fee. The birds were a treat! Take any indoor plant or bird lover here and they'll have the time of their life. The only drawback is the conservatory has a serious mouse and rat problem. We probably saw 10 different mice and one rat during our hour visit.
Nice side trip for an hour to enjoy some cool plants and birds. Ended up coming here and then taking a walk around the paths outside and around the park. When I went you have to book your tickets online, and you have an hour to go around the dome which only takes about 30 minutes if you take pictures and your time.
Our original plans didn't work out due to raining all day, so we did little thing as part of our plan B schedule. Basically this was a short little price of a burger walk thru tour. Lot of interesting cool plants mixed with a few bird sized or smaller creatures from the wild centered in the large & beautiful Queen Elizabeth Park. It was very well maintained I might add too.
One of the best ways to spend $10 in Vancouver.
It is small, but full of fun and surprise. Yes. I am surprised by the number of bird species there are. Walking inside makes me feel so relaxing as if I am visiting a foreign tropical country. It is a great place for photography too.
Absolutely loved every moment of my visit to Bloedel! Time went by so quick & it was an hour before I knew it, which reckons for a re-visit in the near future ????????????️
For bird lovers this is a great place to visit! (Also great for people who would like to see all kinds of birds!) There are so many birds that are out and flying everywhere. This place even provides a sheet of paper with each type of bird on it so that you can challenge yourself to spot all of them. I can literally spend hours there. It is a bit humid there though, but you have access to a bathroom and a fountain, so not a big deal :) Each ticket is also very cheap, so worth it when you're broke!
Very interesting place to visit. A lot of exotic birds (Macaws, African grey, Cockatoos, etc). The conservatory area is not very big, it would only take you 10-15 minutes to go around it. I would say the entrance fee ($6-$7) is definitely worth it.
I can’t believe this isn’t a more popular thing to do in Vancouver. It totally blew me away. Admission was super reasonable. If I could have spent all day there I would have. Make sure to check out the park around the conservatory as well.
We enjoyed our visit last week. The conservatory is gorgeous. They have beautiful parrots and other pretty birds. The flowers and the garden is amazing. The garden also has variety of sculptures.
Excited to come back in 3 weeks to see the blooms start. The flowers and trees at this time are just budding. A very nice park to walk around on a quiet sunny day. Lots of birds and hummingbirds chirping!
It's a short experience, with many foreign birds and plants, and a pretty pond with koi and goldfish. The birds aren't caged (unless they are new and getting acclimated) so they can fly around freely.
The conservatory is well maintained and a nice variety of different birds. It was nice to be able to get close to them!
What could be better than visiting a warm humid place filled with plants and birds! So glad we still have the opportunity to do this during Covid times.
Was amazing ...so beautiful and lots of pretty birds ????
Wonderful place to spend time especially if the weather is bad! It's like being on a tropical island with beautiful flowers, tropical birds, water falls and fish swimming around in small pools. Warm and dry, the best part is it's still reasonably priced! Seniors are only $5. There's no time limit so sit down on a bench and enjoy watching the very entertaining birds!
If you like birds, or plants. Or warm places. This is the thing for you!! Amazing time. And beautiful scenery. Look at this bird!
One of the most fun and beautiful places in the city. Super affordable and truly memorable!
So much fun escaping the cold and walking around this tropical paradise. I also had a conversation with a parrot ????
Beautiful!! So great to see all the birds and plants on a blustery day.
Great escape from the rain. Beautiful plants and theatrical birds.
The cacatua was the main show, full of energy and so talkative. Very fun. There were also other pretty birds, flowers and greens. Good way to recover from cold and rain for a while too.
They pack a lot into this place and everything is healthy and happy and the staff was friendly too. What a great way to spend some time. Loved it!
I like to come here in the winter especially, to get warm. Please get that Komodo dragon under control though. it bit me Jk But I do love the bird selection and the pins with the birds on them. I own them all
Love going to this place with my spouse to enjoy the plants, birds and take pictures ♡ nice escape from the concrete jungle.
We just had a day in the area and we're staying near the airport. We found this place on the map, jumped on the sky train and checked it out with a kid in the stroller. It was fun for the family and had great plants and birds.
First time to come here and it was amazing! Easy access and not expensive. Beautiful plants and flowers and with amazing kinds of birds
A great spot to spend a rainy day, with your kids or just by yourself!
Love visiting with our toddler. Beautiful flowers and birds. My only complaint with Covid is that there are less time slots for members than there are for regular guests so it's hard to get a time.
Beautiful interior situated in beautiful queen Elizabeth park. The co servatory houses several species of bird. All of them are tame and friendly. Makes for a wonderful experience when wandering through one of my favourite places in Vancouver. As a local, I try to come here a few times a year. Great meet up date spot!
A wonderful place to bring younger children to experience animals like the macaws. Older kids might enjoy it too but it’s a short walk around.
We got 2 free tickets when we visited Vandusen Festival of lights so we took our 3yr old daughter and she loves the birds. She had fun.
A bite sized tropical experience most notable for their parrots and tropical plants like bananas. The dome is quite as sight just by itself!
Has tropical plants and birds. It reminded me of my country, the Dominican Republic.
Beautiful place and great for bird photography. Great for a weekend walk around.
Beautiful and peaceful! Can get pretty busy so choose your timing appropriately. It doesn't take long to walk through so take your time or go around twice!
I'm a huge fan of the conservatory. It's great to spend time surrounded by the amazing plant life and finding all the birds that fly around. Most recently I went while the corpse flower was in bloom, though I missed it being fully open. I highly recommend a visit, it also makes a great date spot.
Parrots are restricted to their degraded and unenriched perches. Their flight feathers are cut and they can't access the ground (perches are proofed against ground access). Considering that these highly intelligent birds are restricted to their boring perches, I'd hope that they had access to real enrichment and intellectual diversions but they don't. I saw many of their parrot species demonstrating repetitive manic behaviors which indicates poor psychological wellbeing. Other than basic info about parrot names and native location, Bloedel can't put up any educational placards about the plight of wild-caught exotic birds and the difficulties of being a responsible parrot parent? A total lost opportunity for real education. Also a TON of rodent bait boxes camouflaged around that place. You want your kids around all that poison?
Beautiful, warm, moist, serene and inexpensive treat on a cold winter day. Loved that most of the trees were named.
The place is good for kids and adults . Lots of plants Birds to observe , see and the tropical feel inside . Its good for a mini educational visit. Albeit Small Location is in middle QE. Nice view of vancouver can be seen.
This just became my favourite place! The most reasonablely priced places around at $6.50 for adult for as long as you want to hang out. Fantasticly coloured birds from around the world. Once you get the nack of looking everywhere, suddenly you see the birds. Flashes of colour zipping past your head. So much to see in a small space! Definatly needs more that one trip. I can see where you will encounter different birds everytime you visit! This is a must visit for everyone! Lots of paid parking available. Oh and it's hot inside...tropical environment. I will go again. And maybe spend some time exploring Queen Elizabeth park as well.
A perfect place to go to spend 20 mins of your time in middle of Vancouver. Lots of exotic birds and beautifully designed space. Definitely recommend.
Is a nice place to visit if you are in Queens Elizabeth Park. Not expensive but is not a huge experience. You can see several kind of birds and tropical plants. Is very small so you should spend around 20 minutes.
Very nice place to visit. It is a small tropical park with wonderful tropical plants and amazing birds - parrots and Nelson birds. The parrots are big and awesome. There are sits in the park to sit and relax. But due to a small area it's crowdy but anyway is a great place to visit with kids.
First time come into conservatory, they have a bird show going on, has to book online first before you can go in. One hour time per visit, have to come in at specific time. Inside is very hot, like walked into tropics forest, so makes sure you wear T-shirt inside with easy taking off jacket. The birds are a bit lazy sleeping on the brunches, one of them knows how to say “hi”, but not easy to get it speak.
Super cool place to go and see! Sure made a cold day a lot of fun! The birds are amazing and trying to spot them all makes for a fun activity. The plants are beautiful and so are the ponds. The price is super reasonable. Would recommend going in a day that you can also walk around and enjoy Queen Elizabeth park
Great place for kids or a rainy day when the main park is drenched with pouring rain. Nice variety of birds!
Absolutely worth the price of admission! Lots of beautiful chatty birds! I would absolutely come again! It's also a cheap way to spend an evening!
Vancouver is a beatiful place to be in nature, and the Bloedel Conservatory is the best. Is located in the gardens of Queen Elizabeth Park with one of the best views in the city. Go inside and fell the sound of nature. Is a place to enjoy with all your senses. I hightly recommend it, but you have to be able to tolerate high tempetarature and humidity The price is ok and is a good experience specially if you are going with kids.
A great conservatory to visit yet I think it’s a little pricy as it is quite small. We completed a full round in 30 mins. You can go around as many times as you want. There aren’t as many birds as I had expected and neither are there many fish. However the plant species are plentiful. We expected more birds to be flying us but we didn’t experience this and so was a little disappointed. If you are with children I think 30 mins is enough as they will get bored. If you arrive early they won’t let you in as they are strict with how many people enter.
Nice place for bird lovers! Small but expect to spend a good 20 mins here. All types of birds and they sing :) prices are reasonable too: $6.60 for adults, $3.60 for children 3+ and free under that age.
Very good place to visit, a good variety of fauna and birds. Worth the price of ticket.
This is a nice little spot in Vancouver. Lots of small tropical plants and birds of different colors and texture. The corpse flower was the most recent highlight of my visit. It will be awhile before it'll bloom again.
The conservatory is a nice place at Queen Elizabeth Park. I enjoy going inside and the plants and everything the conservatory has to offer. Sometimes when I am walking the around the park I end up at the conservatory and walk around it and try to see inside. Overall, I enjoy the experience wherever I go. I highly recommend a trip to the conservatory.
Well maintained conservatory, plenty of exotic plants and birds to see.
I really liked this bird conservatory! It was big, there were multiple bird stands so see different types of bird. Some old bird and lots of small ones too. They were all free to fly around so they could choose to fly over your head or across your hand. Great for kids and inside there is a little information about the bird and kids can play a game where they spot the Bird. Fun for the adults too ;) Even though it was a weekend it was not overly crowded. It was great that there is a huge park around it too so that before or after you can go for a walk. I would definitely recommend it.
This is a beautiful conservatory with many birds, mainly finches. They're all around, and if you're lucky or observant, you might spot a few of the birds' little nests around the area. It's a great place to spend an afternoon, and can easily take up to an hour. The conservatory is filled with beautiful foliage and tropical plants as well, so it's great for plant lovers, not just bird lovers! I highly recommend coming earlier in the day, or later in the evening, as the sun shining from directly above does make it a little glaring and difficult to spot birds at times. The admission fee is affordable, there's no reason to skip this if you're looking for an enjoyable afternoon!
Such a beautiful experience. Not too big you could spend time tgere if you sit on a bench and take it all in. Otherwise a quick and fun adventure. Cheap too!
Just a beautiful area to walk around, soak In some vitamin d (when the sun's out haha) and has great views of the city
A great place to visit with the gf on a rainy day. Lots of neat plants, trees and birds to see. Inside is very warm so leave your jacket in your vehicle.
The coolest experience!! Covid precautions were awesome as well. Worth stopping to check this place out!!
A wonderful place to visit - albeit I can presume in the day time there are more birds to however given that we were wanting to see the lights for Christmas it was a treat to go at night :)
This place was considerably smaller than VanDusen so if you were considering going to one of the two, I would go to VanDusen. It's a bit humid in here so wearing a mask inside may not feel very comfortable during the summer months. You'll likely only need about 30-45 minutes here as the space is in a bubble and the two main things you are there for are the flowers and the birds. The birds are very chatty and sweet!
Fantastic place to visit lots of plants and best view point in Vancouver
We enjoyed the tropical plants, flowers and birds so much! Our 18 month old son had such a ball and the amount of people let in for one booking (pandemic regulated) is perfect! You really feel like you can explore and enjoy.
Not huge but perfect if you love birds, we spent an hour here watching them feed and bathe, very cute indeed, a must visit if you're in the park any way.
Feels like a tropical rainforest! I love the different plants and birds featured there. Although I wish the timing slots right now were a bit longer. 20 mins is too short for toddlers to soak eveyrthing in. 30 mins would've been perfect. Also beware of little cute mice running around (if you have a phobia, that is).
What a wonderful place!!! As you enter the conservatory, the moderate temperature and the pleasant air, the plants and the bird sound remind of heaven. It is a highly recommended place in town which is surrounded by a marvelous park.
It was INCREDIBLY DISSAPOINTING. There is absolutely no communication. We were only allowed inside for 5 minutes, they did not bothered even telling us the time was almost up. There was a man yelling at us to get out of there quickly, you can tell he HATES his job. The place is INFESTED WITH MICE. They are everywhere, jumping on your feet and climbing the trees/flowers. Not sure if they are part of the exhibition. We saw at least 10 of them in the 5 mins we were there. The web site says the visits are scheduled for 20 minutes, yet the pay parking available is for a minimum of 1 hour. t is not the staff's fault although I think communication needs to improve. even if they just put a chronometer at the door, that would save them so many unhappy visitors. Sadly, I would NOT recommend this place. especially if you are afraid of mice.
Really amazing collection of plants and tropical birds. If you or anyone in your party is afraid of mice though you might want to pass - the place was infested with them when we were there.
Beautiful place with vivid colours, parrot’s cockatoo’s, macaw’s, range of plants from insect eating plant, poisonous plant, coffee beans producing plant and many more varieties. Must visit place in Vancouver.
Great place to go for a rainy day
Absolutely wonderful! Please don't touch the birds, as you are so close to them that the warning is necessary. Extremely affordable and an excellent way for bird lovers to see exotic species in Vancouver. Loved every minute of my time here.
Tropical biosphere with various plants and birds. Known for having a huge titan arum (corpse flower) which only blooms for a couple days every few years. Surrounded by a large beautiful garden and park area you can walk around.
Soooo beautiful, very nice staff!
Came here to experience the Festivale Tropicale which was my first time inside the conservatory even though I've been to Queen Elizabeth park many times. I enjoyed being in the warm tropical environment & felt like I was in a well maintained jungle. Seeing and listening to the range of vibrant coloured birds was the highlight. For anyone who is scared birds, I wouldn't recommend visiting. It would be a great place to visit since the jungle environment grows so much fascinating trees and plants. The warm conservatory is also a nice respite from the cold weather outside.
Small, but amazing. We walked around twice and spent about two hours there. Could have spent longer, but we had a concert to get to.
Hey! Relaaaax.... and take a stroll through the park. Been going here for 50 years ( since I was born) Glad to see a lot hasn't changed. Couples get married here for a reason. It's breathtaking. As much as I appreciate Butchart Gardens, Queen E Park and the Blodel Conservatory is better way to spend an afternoon when you don't have a lot of money and you want to spend quiet time alone or a place to really focus on your partner. There are no distracting city noises, just let the sound of birds and running water soothe your mind Raining? Step inside the conservatory and watch the birds. It's mellow and zen and if you've got a heavy heart or feeling emotional, this place will help you centre and calm down. Maybe you're a bird lover or an amateur botanist, you'll still enjoy your visit. Come see. You'll agree.
So beautiful, not to busy, and not nearly as warm asi was expecting. Wheel chair/ stroller accessible. I would have loved to buy some personalized merchandise, like magnet with the birds and logo but didn't really have any ????. Some cute little nicknacks though and a fun fountain outside that everyone was playing in! Price was right and despite being a long weekend lots of parking and not to crazy!
First time there after 30 years. Many birds and many mouses running around. Got bird poop on jacket but not on head. Took many pics.
Came here during the holidays and it was so much fun. It's a nice place to check out if you're looking for things to do. It's reasonably priced which is the best part #studentlife
So beautiful ...first time going !!
Very beautiful conservatory! It was a great activity to do on a rainy day. They give you a self guided tour handout and a pamphlet to check off what birds you see. It was fun to see all of the different variety of birds and plants.
Lovely inside, interesting birds and plants and very inexpensive. The Queen Elizabeth Park and trails through the garden around it are really lovely (and free).
What an amazing experience! I see lots of comments on here about the mice. Yes, there are many but they stick to the garden areas and I think they clean up the birds messes. They didnt bother us at all, in fact all the beauty around us was too distracting! So many gorgeous tropical plants and trees...and all the unique birds. Just WOW. Can't wait to return here!
This place has so many beautiful flowers and beautiful birds.
A really lovely place at a very reasonable price. It's small but definitely worth checking out, there's so many birds and beautiful plants. There's also lots of parking available at hourly rates or $7 for the whole day. The park around it is really nice as well and it has an amazing view of the city.
used to have 200 different birds now you are lucky to find 100 (you pretty much see more mice than birds). for the price increase its only worth goin as a first timer.
Beautifully designed inside, not very big. You could probably finish walking around the whole thing in 10min if you weren’t making any stops, I think it took us about 30-45 min, we took our time taking pictures and looking up the names of the birds. They provide laminated sheets with names and photos of the birds to help you identify them. Entrance fee of 6$ Pro tip, there’s lots of free street parking if you come through Cambie if you’re willing to walk 5 min plus you’ll end up walking through the garden which is beautiful.
What a gem this place is. I took my kiddo out here and she loved it. Pricing is very reasonable and there is a bit to do around the park grounds in terms of walking around and taking in the views.
Just beautiful, must check out if youre in vancouver and want to see exotic birds, up close and personal
The birds did not poop on me so I'm very happy. :) I saw almost all the birds. The pink parrot named Kramer said hello to me and did a nice dance.
Pretty cool to have a conservatory in the middle of the park. It is paid admission but $7 per person so not much. It is a straight walk way so make sure you dont speed through it. They give you a sheet of paper with pictures of the different birds you will see. Very interesting place and humid (like the tropics), which is awesome. FYI - No pets, outside drink or food allowed.
i'd have to give this a 5 star. in my opinion there isn't much to do in Vancouver for tourists that is unique to western canada. Stanley park is worth while only in the fall colours, whistler isn't in Vancouver. this place is a great stop, and highly recommended. my only suggestion is if they added 1-2 very rare birds, a toucan or some reptiles - probably would make it a 5 star. the high rating also is for the trees and park in the area- went in october
An hour is almost not enough time even though it's a short walk around! But that was also because I was obsessed with trying to observe every bird species :D
I came to the conservatory back in 2016 and couldn't wait to come back on our trip this year. 5 stars for the main attractions: the birds and the plants. Two of my favorite things in one place! But zero stars for the mice... Yes, the place is infested with mice. I talked to the lady at the counter and she explained that they can't do much, because solutions such as rodent poison, traps or putting a cat in there will all harm the birds. Which makes sense but I hope they're able to get the mice cleaned up soon. Too beautiful of a place to be run down by mice.
Only 45 min slots available due to Covid-19 restrictions. Time will fly by quickly as you walk through the conservatory and try to figure out which bird you’re looking at (you get a bird list at the front entrance).
