Beautiful place of you want to take a nice walk and look at all different types of birds. There is a tower you can go up near the end, and the view is great! ????
This was our first time visiting the Alaksen Reserve. We ended up here because we didn't know we needed a reservation for the neighbouring one. It was a delight. There was enough parking. The kind security guard, Kandola greeted us and made sure we could find the trail. He even showed us the map. And he made sure we knew it closes at 3. The trail was great, gravel, dry and flat. We saw plenty of birds and water, it was beautiful. And the bathroom was so clean, it smelled like it was brand new! The most amazing part was that when we returned to the car, my little purse was hanging from my door handle! With all my credit cards and Id still there! I must have dropped it without even noticing! And an honest person put it there! Kandola the security guard was at the exit, and he heard about it and was happy that it got back to the right owner. Thank you for your kindness and honesty!! We will be back very soon. Thank you for all your work maintaining this treasure of a park.
This is such a beautiful place to visit, and with so many birds to see! Definitely worth a trip if you are visiting town or if you are local. Lots of ducks, chickadees, there are cranes and many other birds. They sell seed at the front when you pay the admission, but you can also bring your own seed. The trails are beautiful, but dress warm if its cold outside because you will be out for a little while. They have a large wood burning stove warming hut at the beginning and end of the walk, with a couple large tables, and chairs as well as benches too. This is a great place to have some snacks or eat your lunch and warm up, while still bird watching. This is the first time I've visited and I would absolutely go back! I believe it said that a family pass was $50 for the year, and its totally worth it and a great way to support the birds that are taken care of here. I believe we paid about $20 for 2 adults, and 2 kids as well as seed which was only a couple dollars a bag. Looking forward to going back again!
Nice and cool
We love this place all year round. It's so cheap and you can hand feed the ducks and birds. $5.00 to get in and $1.00 for bird feed. The place is kept so clean and office staff are kind! Would recommend to anyone, cute little cabin with a wood burning fireplace perfect for those chilly days to bring your lunch and then go for your bird walk!
Must do, go to the bird sanctuary.
Love the nature
A beautiful natural experience, and a highly valuable research and teaching asset.
Very nice walk
Great place for a walk and bird watching.
Ducks. Ducks. Hungry ducks
Nice place to spend half day. Good for kids.
Peaceful and relaxing. It's great fun to take my toddler to feed the birds.

Great place to spend a few hours with nature
This place is sooo beautiful! ????????????????
A hidden gem in Vancouver. There is a cost to enter, but it is worth exploring. Small bags of food are available for purchase or you can bring your own bird food. Most of the birds are very friendly and happy to eat right from your hands!
Soooo many ducks!!!
(Translated) A place that children love very much. (Original) 孩子很喜欢的地方。

Takes great care of their wildlife. Great place for education!
Best place to get in touch with nature
Very good place to take photos. but sometimes it's hard to park. because I want to take photos on the way but there is no way to park on road. Country road...,
Wonderful wildlife sanctuary area, many numerous different birds in the area. All the birds are very tame and lets you feed them. Went here during early spring and there was a large flock of snow geese.
Great place to spend a couple of hours. Hundreds and thousands wonderful birds around!
Lots and lots of ducks and geese mixed with just a few other species. Handfeeding is fun as well
Great way to spend a day. Beautiful sites
Beautiful
It is always centering to take a walk with the birds
Great bird sanctuary for family to walk around and feed the birds. Very easy trail.
Great place to spend some time either by oneself or with others. There are a lot of different kinds of birds here and the park is very relaxing and refreshing.
awesome
great place for a nice walk, especially if you're into birding photography.
Super fun!
Reifel Bird Sanctuary had been closed for one year due to Covid. Now that restrictions are lifted and life is returning to normal..... You are turned away at the gate unless you have made a reservation 24 hours ahead. All this to an outdoor and very spacious park. So unimpressed #cashgrab
Great and welcoming staff who took me in and showed me so much information about the area. Great place to start b fire you head to George C. Reifel!
Great place to relax
Good
(Translated) It's a great place for a walk with your family. (Original) 가족들이랑 산책하기 좋은곳이네요.
Good for kids to touch nature and wildlife birds, good for family to enjoy fresh smell and seasonal view, and some exercise as well. Wonderful outdoor activity!
Such a nice place for an afternoon stroll.
Amazing place for spend time with the kids and family
All the birds one could ever hope to see. Plus a squirrel!
Great trails, friendly birds, and lots of family fun
I'm not an avid bird watcher, that being said it was super clean and accessible to me and my lack of bird knowledge. Trails were clean
I have been to so many places in Vancouver from last 4 months and it becomes my favorite place. 1 I love nature and if you’re a nature lover you’re gonna love this. 2 Birders this place is gonna give you so much fun you can expect anything here 3 Good for kids and young kids too give them education about birds . 4 Feel those feathers while offering food on your hand. Ok reaching there is easy, you have restaurant and you have washroom in starting and few on different areas mostly busy so have patience. If you are going on the sides of marsh there’s is no toilet. Most of the trails are easy to walk so I think wheelchair can go there depending on their own liking if they are ready for a little rough ride. It’s a sanctuary we surely can’t expect marble floor. All in one awesome place.
Brilliant walk great time
Cool park. Lots of wildlife and good views of the mountains. Great picnic spots and not hard to find privacy, if you want to just hang out with your friends and family.
(Translated) Beautiful place, just perfect, more than 30,000 ducks and geese, there are 320 different kinds of birds (Original) Bello lugar, simplemente perfecto, más de 30000 patos y gansos, hay 320 diferentes clases de aves
Oh my god. This place is heaven for bird lovers. I love clicking bird photos and this was absolute heaven. You can see so many species of birds that it's almost unbelievable. The best part is that the birds are right there and you don't have to even look for them. And the trail is quite short too. Will have to go back again in a different season to check the other birds that'll show up then.
(Translated) Very nice place with the possibility to experience many rare birds in the wild. Very nice for all bird lovers! (Original) Sehr schöner Ort mit der Möglichkeit viele seltene Vögel in freier Wildbahn erleben zu dürfen. Sehr nett für alle vögel Liebhaber!
A great place to spend a sunny day. Tons of different types of birds.
Sonice
A hidden gem in Delta. Visited 1st time. 3 nice and quite trails, lush green. A must visit. Right beside George C Riefel Bird Sanctuary.
The park is now open from 9am - 4 pm. and reservation is needed before you can enter.
A wonderful place for hike or just walk and got views of the Fraser river.
Great place to go with kids. Stroller accesible.
Beautiful place! Great birding
Lovely ducks
Amazing! Highly recommend.
If you love wildlife, this is the place to be. If you love taking pictures of birds and other woodland creatures, this is definitely the place to be. Just make sure to bring some proper boots as the place can get muddy and slippery at times. Don’t worry, you’ll find some brushes to clean the mud off your boots by the exit.
So much fun! The chikadees will eat right out of your hand. The flocks of ducks will follow you around. Just an all around great treasure in our city.
Great place for birdwatching.
Great walk.. peaceful..
Bird lovers heaven
(Translated) Wild animals are very cute. (Original) 野生动物很可爱。
Nice but not set up with spots for identifiable breeds to settle, so these could be tagged. Nice quiet spot Good for a picnic
Very good
This is commonly referred to as the Reifel Bird Sanctuary and is an oasis of peace and natureliness. Come for the birdiness and escape the city noise. Chickadees may decide to land in your palm if you carry just the right treats. ( Hint: Black sunflower seeds). Wide variety of species of birds found here as well as rare birds. Sunday's at 10 am is an excellent bird walk for the price of admission.
Although the page is somewhat remote (isn't that the whole idea?) getting there is an easy and pleasant drive. The sanctuary is well maintained and thousands of ducks, swallows and noisy gees roam around free. There is a small entrance fee and you can also but seeds to feed the birds.
Wonderful area
Waffles deceivingly filling, hardly touched my main. Excellent food, service and atmosphere.
Very beautiful ????
Excellent place to spend a happy day with your kids...well maintained and plenty of birds to see.
The birds love to be fed and will sometimes eat out of your hand. The annual family membership is the best recreational value around. A wonderful peaceful oasis well within reach of the busy city.
Great place to wander around and watching the birds. Bring the kids too as it's a friendly place to buy seed and feed the ducks.
One of the best bird sanctuaries in North America. Founded on land once critical to the smuggling of liquor during US prohibition. Reifel family fortune financed the conservation of this wetland sanctuary. Sandhill cranes, waterfowl, hummingbirds, snow geese, owls, bald eagles, and all sorts of shorebirds can all be seen in a single visit.
There were lots of ducks and geese.
I really enjoyed the low cost to experience wildlife and feed birds with lovely staff to help us along the way. ????????
Beautiful place
Cg n
A wonderful walk, can't imagine how great it can be in a month or two, when the migration season is at its maximum
Stay away: this place is for the birds. Visit the nearby Reifel sanctuary instead.
Bird lovers paradise! A wonderful walk with a dizzying array of species to view. Beautiful scenery..
Large variety of birds, considering the time of year. Very pleasant & helpful staff - volunteers. Pathways we'll set up.
If someone likes seeing birds this place is hard to beat.
Feed a duck, get bitten by a goose, repeat. 10/10 would go again
This is a must see place for any birder. Easy spotting and more challenging. Bring your binoculars.
Birds ! Need I say more?
Lots of birds, amazing in all seasons with such a peaceful feel. Birds are so friendly and eat out of your hand. Been hundreds of times and would recommend it to all age groups as a great cheap day trip.
So many birds. So quiet. So beautiful. A perfect place to walk around and see the wonders our Lord created.
Incredible place for a walk. There is really nothing else like it.
A very good place to bring your kids there .
Awesome place to relax
It's alright.
Amazing place for bird watching! Favorite highlights: the view looking out across the sea of marsh grass toward Sturgeon Bank; the unique view of the mountains; and the super cool viewing tower. Vancouver is an internationally significant bird watching location, and this is an amazing place to share a love for ecology and wildlife conservation, especially for youth and people of all abilities. For visitors with an interest in bird watching, this is definitely a highlight! Also of interest are Brunswick Point during sandpiper migration season and Boundary Bay.
Make sure you reserve your spot earlier before you go there. Because of Covid, only a limited number people are allowed to enter.
Amazing bird sanctuary with lots of birds, feeding opportunities, and quaint surroundings. Birds are wild, but used to people. Makes for a nice stroll outdoors. We typically spend between 1.5 and 2 hours there. We see people bringing in tons of seeds for feeding, but a handful is plenty for a party of 3-4, and still allows for ample feeding opportunities throughout the visit. The best seeds are black-oil sunflower seeds, but I don't think you can buy those on location.
Nice place for a day trip. Good for family fun. Specially for kids. They will love it. Lots of birds and free moving around you.
Excellent place to watch and feed the birds. Great outing for the family.
Not open yet
Nice to see nature in the wild.
extremely dull
We took my elderly inlaws, 97 and 85 years and were able to borrow a wheelchair and walk unobstructed through a bit of the sanctuary. It was lovely for them.
For Bird - lovers!
Bring your kids to this type of parks
Great hike on a rainy day. Amazing variety of birds.
Great place to go on the weekends
Great place for walks and bird watching/photography
Showed up just at the right time during the migration, the field was covered in thousands of geese! We were lucky enough to see them all take flight and fly to a different field to continue eating. Truly an amazing right to see!
Very very nice park I look forward to continue enjoying the park.
I just love this place, and I am greatful, and thankful that there is a place like this to relax yourself, and take it all in. It's beautiful here, and I've always loved birds, and other animals to look at and enjoy. Thank you. Steve
Beautiful place for a nice walk with a lot of birds.
There shouldn't be a 5 dollar per adult entry fee for such a small wildlife area. In fact, most free parks I've been at have better scenery. There were very few birds other than ducks.
We love coming here and feeding the birds. The Redwinged Blackbird loves peanuts and sunflower seeds and you will have better luck getting them in your hand from those. The feed in the bags is great for ducks and geese though, and supports the wildlife center, so please purchase some anyway. (It's 50 cents).
Lots of birds, great family experience.
Great place to watch birds! Quiet, and good work. No dog allowed.
Mainly a place for bird watching.
Saw eagle and owls. Good walk for a sunny day
Also known as Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary. One of the best along the west coast. Great for leisure hikes and photos of wild birds. Allow 1 to 3 hours.
Always a peaceful visit, no matter how busy it gets.
A farce of a 'tour', a rip off
Absolutely the best place to view birds in the Delta area.
Feed the ducks and the chickadees will eat right out of your hand. Bags of seeds are available at the gate for a low price. The trail is an easy walk and it's a great way to spend a good portion of the day with family or a loved one.
Amazing place!
Feeding the birds here was amazing, nice to have them eating from your hand and landing on you! I will definitely come here again.
Great alternative if you can't get into Reifel Birds Sanctuary. Really long relaxing trails
Wonderful place to stop by. Lot of wildlife to see. Tiny frogs everywhere!
BIRDS
Good~~~<<
Snow geese and lots of ducks. Plus a ocean breeze
Great views
Beautiful place to spend some time with family and lots of birds
This place. Amazing when the snow geese are flying in and out. Never a disappointment ????
Worth it
Great place to be at any time of the year. This place is essentially a wild bird reserve that holds some of the most diverse bird species in Canada! In October, flocks of snow geese can be larger than 25000 in numbers! It is similar to a very easy and simple hiking trail with a watchtower and viewing areas along the way. Ducks and chickadee will be everywhere, and if you purchase some feed from the front desk you can feed them. This place is probably best enjoyed in the winter when there are the most birds. One small problem though: go to the washroom before you enter as there are next to no restrooms in the trails.
This place is really beautiful. We take our daughter's here often and it's a nice break from tvs, tablets, smartphones, etc.
Amazing place to go for some pictures or take your family for a learning experience. Plenty of ducks and geese that come right up to you and chance to see some rare birds. Worth multiple visits to catch a glimpse of the birds that come year round. You can take a lunch inside and it's fairly inexpensive and great for a day out. Don't forget to buy or bring some bird seed. Its $1 for a small bag at the sanctuary.
This is a gem for locals and visitors who like to stroll around in cozy and less busy setting. The access might be a little trickier than many othet parks. It worths.
Great place
(Translated) The children love to come to feed the birds (Original) 孩子们非常喜欢来喂鸟
Lots of migrating birds in all seasons, good for a half-hour walk.
Lovely area of the city.
The birds will eat right out of your hand, especially in the winter or early spring when they're really hungry.
A great place for site seeing birds. It was better than I expected. I enjoyed my time being there.
Brilliant walk xx
A great place to take the kids to feed hundreds of ducks and birds as it is is recognized by its designation as a globally significant Important Bird Area. A must see event is the Snow Geese - usually near the end of March to early April.
Wow!!
Wonderful to visit the Snow Geese in the fall.
Beautiful surroundings
The bird sanctuary was a really good outing. There was plenty of parking, and the trails were very well maintained. It was a nice flat walk and quite achievable for all fitness levels. Lots of people were pushing strollers with no trouble. There is a small gift shop where you can buy souvenirs and bird seed. The entrance fee was quite cheap. This was a good outing for the whole family. There were washrooms and a warming cabin with tables where you could sit and eat your bag lunch. There were also picnic tables to eat outside in warmer weather.
Where else can you see 2 different types of wild owls within 30 meters of each other.
Beautiful place. Like the Reifel but quieter. Blackberries are great.
Will drive u quackers!
Alaksen National Wildlife Area. Note that it is closed for Stat Holidays, although this isn't mentioned on their website. Open 9-3:30 Mon-Fri, perhaps another day I will get to visit
Beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy. We had wonderful weather to walk around. From the tower we enjoyed the view of the Fraser River, Vancouver, Richmond. There ate many scenic lookouts to rest and observe wildlife.
What a lovely spring day with the family in a great nature-friendly place to see such fantastic scenes !
Lovely little jewel in the middle of the city never seen so much wildlife in one place amazing. Well run excellent facilities..
Very nice natural sactuary. Great for kids. Birds are very friendly and able to be hand fed
The staff are friendly and the wildlife sanctuary is better than I had expected. Remember to brink water and snacks. There are picnic spots available if you want to make a day of it.
This is a rural area on Westham Island in Ladner that is open only Mon-Fri, office hours. A gate is closed during the off hours. There is a parking area, gentle trails to walk by the river, and the original Reifel family home , donated to the preserve by the family, which is the Alaksen office. It does have washroom facilities there. I believe they still have a registration book in the office for visitors. This site is basically adjacent to the Reifel Bird Sanctuary and is a much quieter or less busy location to walk.
duck!
Loved it.
Very well set up bird sanctuary. Lots great walking trails. Awesome viewing platform. They even had some blinds to stay hidden while viewing the birds
Close birds and very good for kids field trip
Great place for anyone that loves birds.
Ok for bike riding, there are alot of private roads and no trespassing signs and the dyke had.no trespassing signs.not recommended for long walks.
Most of the pictures and reviews here are for the Reifel Bird Sanctuary (5191 Robertson Rd). The address of this listing (5421 Robertson Rd) has different trails and hours than Reifel.
It's a great place to visit to see all the different bird species and waterfowl, sometimes you will see raccoons, otters, beaver. If you bring your own bird seed please don't bring seed with millet in or bread crumbs as these are totally detrimental to waterfowl and birds. Please bring hulled sunflower seeds which are the best for them and their digestive systems. Bring a camera and binoculars, waterbottle if you plan on a hike around the trails you never know what different bird or waterfowl visitor you may encounter, so happy birding hope you get that great picture.
Awesome place! The kids (young and old )loved feeding the birds! Level walking. Viewing cabins to get a better view of the birds.
Great burgers.
Walking among nature is fun for the entire family, children of all ages enjoy feeding the wildlife at bird sanctuary. Bring your own seeds or buy it from the gift shop. The fee to enter takes care of the protected area, no pets allowed.
(Translated) Been there at least 5 times! I feel different every time. When buying tickets, do n’t forget to buy three kinds of bird foods, which are fed to ducks and birds respectively. It ’s an expensive and super exciting touch for a dollar and a bag! (Original) 去过至少5次啦!每次都有不同感受。买票时别忘了买三种鸟食,分别喂野鸭和小鸟的,一块钱一袋子不贵但超刺激的触感哦!
Great place to go to for bird watching!
Here have a lot of diferent kinds waterfowl and Migratory birds.
The birds put on a spectacular show.nature at its finest.
This is the area adjacent to Reifel open Mon-Fri during office hours. There is a small visitor parking area and three trails open to the public. Washroom facilities were clean.
Beautiful place
Beautiful walks love all the wild life
Expensive but lovely
Major stop-off point for seasonal migrating waterfowl. Many snow geese late October. Other birds year-round, beautiful nature.
Well worth the trip! Be sure to bring your binoculars and to buy a bag of birdseed.
Bird sanctuary is amazing. Highly recommended.
It's was a wonderful eduction experience we really enjoyed learning about the wildlife and our impacts on the habitat
No bicycle riding in the sanctuary
Lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon
Until I visited, I had no idea Canadian geese were capable of patience or neutrality. These were the calmest geese I've ever seen and would definitely visit again just for that. Make sure you bring a mask (because on the day I went, many visitors don't have them), and snacks (because the main entrance doesn't have many snacks).
Off on the wrong foot with a very poor map. No signage. Got lost. Spent an extra hour finding my way out. Found one hyperlink on the website that shows latitude and longitude for a place in China! Oh yes, there is signage: to close gates (2 signs I saw). Both were overgrown with weeds! Another sign had fallen down some time ago without being replaced. And a caution " cone" signalling a drop-off was toppled sometime ago. There was no manager to talk with. The place is not well managed or managed at all!
good place for kid
Great for adults and kids!
Actually I was in George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary next door to Alaksen. It was cool and wet but in a 3 hour circuit, we saw 48 species. Note: visits must be booked
This is a migratory bird sanctuary. While there are small animals and snakes which live here, this is not a zoo. There are a couple kilometres of easy trails to walk while you see many types of birds. Bring bird seed with you, some will eat right out of your hands. A great place to bring young children, the birds are interesting enough to distract them from the walk. When you are done, they are tired and ready for a good night sleep.
First time here. Will go back. Nice to discover great spots locally.
Full of wildlife and very peaceful!
Fun place
Love going to feed the animals, and it just a beautiful place over all ????
Awesome
A great weekend getaway place to visit
(Translated) Super what everything is done for nature (Original) Super was alles für die Natur gemacht wird
Great place to go for a stroll.
Great variety of bird life to see in a fairly small walking trail system
Nice for a walk and kids enjoy looking at the wild animals
Excellent
Very neat area with lots of birds to see and feed. Watch out for geese and little ones. The geese know little kids often have food and will get aggressive if they are not fed.
good for kids, Similar to BBY lake where is FREE.
Great place that you could see eagle, owl, crane, Canada goose, ducks and lots of unknown-name birds.
Nice place for kids
Love this beautiful park!
Nice place. Flat and wheelchair accessible to certain point. We met lots of friendly visitors.
(Translated) Magnificent sanctuary where birds reign supreme. Populated by songs and the rustle of discreet wings. (Original) Sanctuaire magnifique où les oiseaux règnent en maîtres. Peuplé de chants et de froufrou d'ailes discrets.
Ducks are so cute!
Awesome

Wonderful bird sanctuary to visit at anytime of the year!
