It is priced a little higher than what I’d like it to be, however I understand up keeping a butterfly garden is not an inexpensive business. the only disappointing thing about it was I couldn’t give the bearded dragon some love, and the blue butterflies were impossible to get a good picture of. That being said it was busy so it was unreasonable to expect one of the employees to stop what they were doing just to let me pet a lizard. As well as the employees cannot control the butterflies, so the photos I got are the best ones I could get.
It was great for a rainy day !!!! My daughter who's 4 loved it. Leave one parent in the car tho lol . You don't want to pay for 2 adults.
A fun family friendly activity
Butterflies, turtles, bug tortoise, 2 tarantulas behind glass, bearded dragon beautiful orchids glad we went
Great for the little girl in you!
Tried to visit in mid October and it is closed until March 2018
Beautifully layed out gardens, butterfly's are absolutely magical, don't forget to check out Sampson the tortoise, Rocky the turtle, Izzy the bearded dragon, and the Orchid Gardens! And ran by amazing people!! See you next season :)
A local treasure to explore
cool but a little pricey for a short visit
(Translated) Butterfly garden is beautiful the gardens outside are less. (Original) Vlindertuin is prachtig de tuinen buiten zijn minder.
Beautiful butterflies and plants. Awesome for our little man to see all the different species. Very cool tortoise
Really hot and humid tropical forest. The beautiful butterflies flutter around you chasing each other. It's quite the experience. $37.80 for two adults and a child. Worth it!
I've lived here on the island for a long time, finally visited. It was a good place to explore and see some fun insects. Little bit pricey...but some to check off the to do list
Beautiful pLace, and staff are so friendly and are full of knowledge
My bucket list
Samson the tortoise is pretty spectacular! Sometimes you can find him roaming around the gift shop.
Good place to visit with variety of butterflies, more fun for kids
This is amazing! I love the array of butterflies and moths they have there and you get to ask all the questions you may have. Getting to see them in the cocoon stage then release was fantastic, I can't wait to go again to see the next species emerging. Dont forget to check out the orchid garden as well!
Lovely gardens and fun to see all the butterflies. Our group aged 4-55 all enjoyed being there.
Love it
I just came from Butterfly World in Coombs and I am so impressed with the changes that have happened there in the past 3 years since the new owner has taken over! The butterflies as usual are amazing (go on sunny days to see the most activity) and I loved being on the tropical space and temperature. Nice pond with coi fish and the lovely Samson the tortoise hanging out. (who also had outdoor roaming garden access for those wondering). The indoor Orchid garden now has streams and many varieties of flowers. And the outdoor gardens are lush with a gazebo in big pond. It's such a pretty space to sit and relax or do the small walk around . The new owner is also a horticulturist, and it shows!, There are also some lizards and insects who are well looked after and loved, the butterflies are plentiful and the place is clean and just has beautiful energy! And don't forget before you leave to go down to the big turtle ponds at the front of the property where you can see and feed the red-eared snappers and see some more koi fish. I highly recommend it for your peace of mind. But also what a fun place to go and hang out when people come and visit. Perfect little day trip with the kids for a couple hours.
Beautiful place, friendly staff, great place to go if you're on vacation or just on a drive (✿^‿^)
A bit run down but still with the trip
Very fun place for kids. A little pricey but overall a good time!
Quiet & peaceful. A solid place for a photographer to take photos. My 5 year old daughter really enjoyed herself the most, I wish I could have answered her tons of questions. The lady behind the front desk was also SUPER personable and friendly I forget her name! Will visit again!
Gorgeous green house with exotic flowers and butterflies from around the world. We were absolutely not disappointed with the sheer number that we're found just flying around. Great place to get some nice pictures as well. On top of all else, you can feed the turtles and koi, which was my wife's favourite part. This was a wonderful experience, and more than worth the price of admission. Highly recommend.
Love this place ???????????? Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable ????????????????????????????????????????????
Love it~~~ it’s a magical place!
Love the butterflies but the tortoise is the real attraction.
Maybe we had bad timing but we didn't see anything except the ones hatching. Cool turtles and beautiful orchids though.
Great place. Loved every moment there.
Worth at least one visit. Beautiful setting.
Always love butterfly world..
The butterfly bit is pretty cool but the rest is less interesting.
It's okay but not worth the price. You can walk around it in 10 mins. And gift shop doesn't have alot of options. It would be better if tickets were cheaper and had more stuff to buy in shop. And some of it looked like it was made with random/scrap pieces of wood and is very home made looking
Great place to take the kids. Was a bit crowd but people wore their masks. Friendly staff. The kids liked it
An absolute amazing experience. Highly reccomend. A cheap $14 per adult, $11 for students. Staff seem friendly and caring for the animals
Fun for little kids and adults.
Come on there was tortoise to greet us! Awesome!
Lots of butterflies. Staff were helpful and one lady in particular was very informative in a fun way. They had a few other animals to see bearded dragon, tarantulas and tortoises too.
We made an unexpected stop here to see the sanctuary but decided not to go in. It appears to be run by a husband/wife/young child and nobody was there to greet us in the store area for about 10 minutes. When they did arrive we learned that it was about a 20-minute tour/stop but it was going to cost us $52 for 3 adults and two kids (4 and 6) for admission. We couldn't justify the price for such a simple setup that was such a short stop. So we thought we'd at least enjoy something to eat on the deck which we quickly learned was more or less closed as a sign directed us to the main reception area where they had only a few confectionery refreshments. This stop wasn't worth our while along our way to Coombs. Save your time and go just a couple KMs dpwm the road, directly to the marketplace where they have goats on the roof and you'll have a couple hours of things to do.
Awesome. Took 50 high school students and they loved it.
Recently visited during their re-opening week, and I thought it was a very nice attraction and will be going back again soon. Staff were very friendly, the facility is very clean and well kept, and though it is a bit small, the space is well used and accessible.
Such an amazing place and experience. Beautiful facility and helpful staff. I definitely recommend this place for anyone and everyone if you are looking to enjoy nature.
Can't wait to go back. Super sweet place. Friendly staff, cool butterflies, birds and gardens
Different butterflies everytime. Was a nice small walk in what felt like a mini jungle.
This was way overpriced, even with the exchange rate. The butterfly room is very cool with tons of butterflies. The tortoises were really fun to see, especially seeing them walk around in the open. But the rest of it seems to be like someone's backyard landscaping, and nothing is identified.
I'm a 45 year old man and had low expectations. My inner 10year old girl self was over the moon! This place felt like I transport to the amazon rainforest! Pricey but well done.
Love this place...BEAUTIFUL
Seriously not to love here
Love it, but very expensive
We had such an awesome time at butterfly world today we got to see so many butterflies and the staff was super friendly and helpful
Fun quick srop for the kids!
Worth the price to see all the butterfly's but it's very hot in there
Kind of small but the staff was friendly and fun.
They have butterflies, orchids, turtles, a tortise, lizards, and tarantulas. They get in new butterflies every three to four weeks. You can see the butterfly chrysalises and sometimes the butterflies will land on you. The tortise is allowed to roam free sometimes which is fun. There is also an indoor and outdoor garden and a pond where if you are lucky you can feed the turtles. There is also a gift shop, but it could use a makeover with more up to date items.
Needs a bit of TLC around the place. Glad we had a two for one coupon as pretty dissapointed.
But disappointing. A little overpriced for the size of the attraction.
Absolutely a beautiful place to come visit! You can see a variety of butterflies in various stages of life with an abundance of healthy plants to snack on as well as turtles & exotic fish. I visited in 2009 and it hasn't changed much. I would revisit in a heartbeat.
Alright lovely butterflies.... inaccurate and harmful information about the tortoises. Tortoises to need to drink water, and have it available to them at all times. The red foot tortoise had extreme pyramiding on its shell, and spine looked to be a bit collapsed, pretty sure it had metabolic bone disease from poor nutrition and sunlight and humidity.
Beautiful butterflies and a friendly tortoise
Amazing little Oasis full of fun little critters. Quieter in the evenings. Staff are kind and informative
Lovely experience and well worth the admission.
Great experience for the little ones and very educational.
New owner of Butterfly World has really turned the place around - we visited over 20 years ago and then about 5 years ago ownership changed and it was sad to see things neglected But - new owner has place in great condition - what a difference - definitely worth a visit - beautiful butterflies and gardens/plants as well as a few different creatures!
Very cute spot to take the kids enjoying fun for the entire family. Expect to spend one hour enjoying the butterflies and many other creatures.
Butterflies tortoises turtles oh my
Was ok but over priced for what was there...
Love this beautiful place!!
Pretty place, just felt like more could be done with butterfly area (more butterflies).
Great place, would give it five stars if they had a change table for babies
Beautiful place to see gorgeous butterflies! The turtles were great to watch as well.
Not a bad attraction
Very fun and pretty. Large array of butterflies, very enjoyable experience :)))
A beautiful experience for anyone who enjoys buterflies, gardens, or a few hours of tropical retreat. Don't miss the turtle pond outside.
So many beautiful butterflies!
A good visit for children
Fantastic little hidden gem in Coombs.
Fantastic little hidden gem in Coombs.
Paid the adult entry of $14 each, totally not worth it. Unfriendly staff, seemed rundown and unkept grounds. Butterflies were nice but the novelty wears off in minutes. Water garden had no water. Lonesome rabbit in a small enclosure in the only patch of shade. Tortoises were trying to break out of their very small boxes. Cruel. Definitely skip this "attraction".
It's exactly what you would expect from a place called butterfly world - a lot of different kinds of butterflies flying around. There's also an adorable tortoise hanging around the gift shop! Lots of turtles in the water too.
Promo for adults ongoing now. my 2 year old son loved this place!
(Translated) You can have a look. Small butterfly park. (Original) Kann man sich mal ansehen. Kleiner Schmetterlings Park.
cool experience.. just I don't like to see the animals caged
Loved the butterfly garden. Should have realized it would be so warm! Really enjoyed feeding the koi fish and turtles in "Turtle Town".
Great place to explore on a rainy day.
The path to the turtle pond is a major hazard but butterflies were worth the bruised knees
So beautiful. I really liked visiting there and walking through, just find it a bit pricey for what it is. However, I would still recommend for a family outing
It's ok. Samson the tortoise is cruising around the gift shop which was pretty cool. Seen a number of butterflies. Got one free Dixie cup of food to feed turtles and fish. A wee bit expensive I thought.
An enjoyable stop. It's so neat to have butterflies fluttering around you.
Really enjoyed it here. Very cool experience having butterflies land on you while you walk around. The gardens were very beautiful. Staff is very friendly. Be sure to check out the koi pond.
Awesome lots of recent additions.
Very nice place with super friendly staff!! Absolutely loved it :)
Cute little place my son and daughter loved it! The staff was very friendly and accommodating and knowledgable.
If you pay double the admission you can go anytime for a year that way you will see more butterfly's as they is always more thru the year. I finally got some morphs in flight photo's very friendly staff and and well taken care of.
Wonderful spur of the moment stop. We were greeted by the tortoise in the gift shop as he walked around. The orchid garden and fairy houses were an awesome addition to the butterflies.
Beautiful array of butterflies
Yet another great place to experience. You just have to go, its a little wonderland. Hot and humid, relaxed environment. Amazing flower display. Watch out for Samson!
Kids enjoyed the bugs with granny. Misc bugs and a bird. The odd other critter. Old school entertainment.
Over priced not will maintained ,Butterflies were nice to view
Nice little tropical butterfly experience
A must go to when visiting the area!!! My daughter had a blast and the owners are super nice!!! Totally recommend checking this place out!! We will certainly be back!!!
Great little place full of all sorts of interesting creatures. I've lived on the Island for years, and finally popped in.
Best place to bring your kids!
Wonderful little experience. Not as big and lavish as the butterfly gardens in Victoria but still 100% worth visiting.
The garden is lovely to walk through and the staff is excellent. There could be more species of butterflies.
Absolutely amazing! We got to feed the turtles outside in the pond and my daughter loved it!! The butterflies were cool but we LOVED the turtles!!
Such a beautiful place! Can't believe I've driven by it so many times and never stopped!!
It's nice there just a bit pricey for how small it is. You could see everything in less than 15 mins so we went around twice.
Always enjoy seeing butterflies and they had a unique Orchid Garden. Staff were cold and unfriendly on the day we went, and the greenhouse enclosure would build up condensation and dump on you every few feet.
(Translated) Nice, but not worth the entrance fee. (Original) Ganz nett, aber das Eintrittsgeld nicht wert.
Absolutely an amazing experience, love butterflies Or want to learn more? Check them out
Expensive for the whole family and a small/short attraction. We did 2 loops to try and prolong it. The butterflies are amazing and some of the other animals are interesting. The chrysalis display case was really cool to see the butterflies hatching. The turtle they keep inside was a real hit the way he was walking around trying to escape. I'm glad we went but there's not a lot of reason to visit again. Recommend it though.
Beautiful tropical surroundings and gorgeous delicate butterflies, all different colors, flying all over. One even landed on my hand!
A must go attraction have your camera ready
Great place for kids
Great variety of butterflies and plants, and flowers. We loved seeing them going through their metamorphosis and the actual hatching. Bring your kids and enjoy this little heaven! The gift shop is filled with amazing art from indigenous artists. Highly recommend it while you are in the area!
Lovely place! So many beautiful butterflies and turtles.
A nice place to visit and take visitors.
Was absolutely amazing such beautiful little creatures amazing reptiles and spiders
The kids loved it.
Small but beautiful! ! Loved the tortoise. Bought a butterfly necklace
Butterfly world belongs on everyones bucket list! This place itself is not only amazing, the staff are phenomenal and highly knowledgeable. Shiray( im sorry for the incorrect spelling of her name) was some of the best customer service I have ever seen. Thank you for making our visit so amazing, and we will definitely be back. Ps. I love Samson❤
Best place ever! The guy working they're was very informative and helpful!
Beautiful place to visit. My 11 month old son enjoyed it too because of all the activity from the butter flies. Wish they still had the large bug collection for sale in the gift shop though, now they only have butterflies.
Only saw like 5 butterflies, but it was a very pretty garden and the tortoises were cool
Some beautiful butterflies and plants. Nice family destination. Well distanced.
Butterflies where beautiful but Not really worth the price. Need more birds and lizards like Victoria.
So fun for my 2 year old niece and I loved taking photos
Kids really liked it
Worst place I’ve ever been to. The butterflies were beautiful but management was the absolute worst. Terribly unprofessional and absolutely disgusting behavior. That is not how you treat people and because of your horrible dangerous behavior, I will not be coming here again. I’ll take my kids elsewhere where people are treated like decent human beings. You don’t even deserve one star.
Debbie and Grace made this a wonderful experience for my son and I. They were friendly, informative and patient. The butterflies were lovely as were the other animals/reptiles. I could tell the staff had genuine care and love for them. I am not giving a full star rating as the facility is rundown and needs some serious love. Its time to invest in some building and grounds maintenance and make the place more attractive to the public. I will return if those two ladies are working next year however even if the place is still in poor condition. They made the visit worth it!
Was super fun! Loved meeting Samson and hanging out with the butter flies! Staff was friendly!
A nice little display, but a bit over-priced.
It is way way too much money for the little amount to see. Just a few butterflies at $12 per person is unreasonable. I will not be coming back
Great experience!
A must visit place. The workers are extremely friendly and the bearded lizard is definitely the cutest!
It was amazing and the staff was fabulous. Kids had fun.
Nature at its best.
Tons of butterflies that were all really active. The garden outside is nothing too exciting.
Great place to take the kids! Lots to look at and the staff are very friendly and informative!
Expensive for the 10 minutes to see the whole place, but was a nice visit for my son, and the staff were extremely friendly.
Great place to take kids for an outing. Due to the short lifespan of the butterflies sometimes there won't be as many there as others, which was the case during our visit. It's also very warm inside (again, butterflies) so it might be a bad choice for people who handle heat poorly. There is a turtle pond around the side of the building, as well as tortoises, tarantulas (don't worry, they're in tanks), quail, koi, a bearded dragon and some other reptiles inside. The benches are terrible. They felt like they were going to break when I sat in them. Other than the benches it's a great place.
Very Cool!
It was so beautiful. Don't miss.
Nice visit with grandchildren, they loved the butterflies especially, also the flowers and tortoise. Thank you for a lovely time.
Top notch facility
Fun place to take your kids
This was my wife and I third or fourth visit. The grandkids loved it. A great experience for the grandkids. We traveled up from Duncan. To bad the big turtle Romeo was gone. We thought it was cool watching him wonder around the shop. It was another great visit. Probably be back. . . ;-}
butterflies flying around, orchid garden turtle and koi fish
(Translated) Made so beautiful (Original) So schön gemacht
A good bit of fun. The kids loved it especially when a butterfly landed on me. Butterflies more active on a sunny day. Orchids garden. Water garden. Frogs airways amuse children
Nice!
Great place to bring the kids. Lots of parking.
Cute, but overpriced....orchids were very disappointing
My granddaughter (ok and myself) thoroughly loved the place, fascinating butterflies, lots of fish (she was delighted she got to feed them), and turtles..available for kids Birthday parties, well worth the visit
Kids had a blast! Staff was amazing!
Nice place, but definitely disappointed. Not worth the $14. Took us 30 minutes taking our time thru everything.
We got to see so much while we were there! Friendly staff and super welcoming. Enjoyed every minute!
It was nice walking around with the butterflies fluttering around you. I wish it were a little more affordable though, as we would go more often if it were.
Improved since last spring
What a great place!
Amazing, Beautiful place . So many diffrent wonderful creatures from butterflys , turtles , tortoises, birds insects . Friendly staff and very clean and well maintained.
Fun for kids but not very big for the price! 3.5 star
My little girl loved too watched the butterflies
Lots of beautiful butterfly. Loved ut
Run down, very few butterflies, staff practically ignored us to get in. I was here 20 years ago and it has gone down hill terribly. Disappointing stop.
Really enjoyed the butterfly gardens, but I hope I don't sound too unfair in saying the admission prices are a little steep for what you get, comparing this to a couple of museums/ attractions we have been to this last week, even in Victoria, which were all around $8 rather than $14pp- money aside (for those not fussed about prices) there are plenty of beautiful butterflies in a variety of breeds to admire as well as some cute little finches, reptiles, tarantulas, a huge African Tortoise, Turtles and Carp (you can feed). We were completely fascinated by the chrysalis' and the newly 'hatched' butterflies! Definitely a highlight! Lots of easy to understand information- Felt the orchid and the water garden maybe needs a bit of a jazzing/ sprucing up. Finish on a positive by saying the staff were super lovely!
I have always enjoyed taking my child here. It is small in the inside but I enjoy sitting on the bench by the pond and looking at butterflies and the plants. My son enjoys the butterflies, the tortoises and looking at the turtles in the outdoor pond. If we are lucky we see frogs too. It's quite calming and I have spent many hours just watching the butterflies and the fish in the pond.
Don't missed out Butterfly World Coombs. Watch for the signs on the left side about 2 minutes drive from Goats on the Roof . Butterflies is just hovering you around when you're in the garden, there's also tropical plants & different gardens . Don't forget to visit the Koi & Turtle ponds staff can give you food for the Koi's & they comes out when you feed cheerios so many of them so big & a huge Turtle. Don't forget the spearhead kimono dragon .I enjoyed very much.
Sick
it was an interesting place lots of very nice butterflies flying all over the place. The gardens were cool, liked the carnivorous plants, and the turtles outside were cool. The entry fee was a bit high for what it was but this is BC so things are always going to be overpriced.
Loved it!
was nice to visit.
Over $30 for 3 people. In and out in 10 minutes.
