The zoo is awesome. Their Zoo Lights #BostonLights is unbelievable.

Spacious and wonderful zoo. The animals were close to the paths so you could really see them. It was 60-65 when I went so most animals were out and about. The only two animals in hiding were the tiger and condor. The bathrooms in the front were clean and maintained. The bathrooms by the lions was a little more rustic. It was a bonus to see the Boston lights set up even if they were not lit during the day. Parking along the street was easy, there was space in the sausage parking lot too. I wouldn't suggest the semi circle lot in front of the zoo it was very small and people had a hard time leaving around rush hour. The kids playground space seemed amazing for active kids. We brought our own snacks and drinks and sat by the bird world area. I would have liked to see the Sam Adams or truly tents open during the day. Overall great zoo!
The lantern night lights were very vibrant and so colorful, with beautiful music. Was surprised with so many beautiful big n small displays all along the park. It was really worth visiting. Book tickets ahead online.
The Light Show Was Wonderful ????❤
Beautiful zoo! Not over crowded. Setup for the Boston Lights (I had not previously known about this). Was there during the day but sure it would be beautiful at night!
We came after hours for the Lantern Light Show and were blown away! Amazing, beautiful, entertaining, and absolutely breath-taking. If you ever have the chance to get tickets it is an absolute must!
Had a great time here! The Boston Lights Exhibit was fantastic!!! Hope to see other Events here at this Zoo!!!

A lot of new exhibits being built, not one the best zoos, but my 4 yo grandson had a good time
Great zoo! Lots of different animals, everything was clean and well maintained. Staff was awesome and informative. The Aussie Aviary is the best part!

I visited for the Boston Lights and was not disappointed! A must see especially for families!
Amazing place to visit with family. Amazing exhibits and the zoo is well organized, highly recommended.
It is a lovely park, well maintained. Plenty to see but not overwhelming. Still seems very disorganized and not well signed for directions or parking. Some staff weren't as friendly as a partner zoo. Still a nice day out. Would love to see the lights display at night.. Get there early to avoid long lines, and don't trust Google maps to find the entrances or parking.
Saw the Boston Lights exhibit tonight, and loved it! Great event for the whole family. Definitely wait until it gets dark to get the full experience. We had an excellent time!
the lights shine bright in Dorchester. I went last year an again this year . Maybe next year I'll take the kids . I'm a big kid
Had a fun afternoon date with my boyfriend here. Quite a few exhibits were closed but we did enjoy seeing the rest of the animals. Social distancing wasnt a problem and there is a one way route around the entire zoo which lets you see all the animals while not running into crowds of people. Well probably go back at a later date when they've had more time to be open.

The Boston Lights were wonderful. They were diverse and the little panels with facts were a nice touch. Great date night or family outing.

It's a nice place to visit, it's not the fanciest zoo but it's really worth it. I just give them 4 stars because is not a big zoo.
Whatta an awesome experience. The light show is really cool, you walk around the zoo and check out all these light sculptures, go through tunnel and paths full of lights. Great time for kids and family. Parking was a little difficult to …
Light's are very nice and family friendly. Lots of walking so bring a stroller for the little ones.
Amazing experience. Lots of beautiful sculptures and light settings. You'll need an hour or more to take in all of it.
This place has so much potential, but it is evident they are lacking funding. We are from FL, so we cannot continue to come here and support. All of you locals need to step up and support your zoo!

Had a blast with the whole family. Fun for all ages
Great time, easy for all ages. Parking is a challenge, go warly!
Great place to go solo, as a couple or with young kids, there is something for everyone. They have lions, a tiger, gorillas, giraffe, zebras and so much more. They have multiple playgrounds for kids, they also have multiple food stands, relatively flat terrain for ease of walking and surrounded by a lot of trees and natural vegetation. The zoo is scenic and one feels invigorated being surrounded by nature. They currently have a festival of lights and the displays are amazing to see in the evening.

The tickets are going to sell out very quickly! If you missed the light show at Franklin Park Zoo last year plan ahead right now! It’s better to buy your tickets early then miss out! Last year’s theme was all the Zodiac Signs…It was breathtaking for kids and adults too! Thank you FRANKLIN PARK ZOO! ???? It was well lit by national grid I believe!✔️ It was a phenomenal show, very well planned and executed! You really need to see it in person! Dress super warm, don’t forget your scarf, gloves, comfortable footwear and have fun! This years theme is…❓ Parking was a struggle! Make sure you arrive early to give yourself time to park they have multiple lots!
Me and my family had a great time from the first stop to parking with Valet. With the gentleman name Derek who was a pleasure to meet and interact with to the lights display that was incredible and amazing in so so many ways me and my family had fun and enjoy to displays and went around the park 2 times because it was so beautiful and more great work franklin park zoo u guys ROCK....AND Thank you...
AMAZING....FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE
Beautiful place with good amount of animals. They had a scavenger hunt for people to join. I had a great time
The lanterns were beautiful and colorful sculptures that added to the zoo experience even though we went during the day when they weren't lit up. Nice playground and many smaller play spaces dotted around the park. Lots of shade. I wish the gorillas had a better enclosure, they were in an indoor enclosure with no natural light. My son really likes gift shops and this one could have been a lot better, he couldn't find anything to buy even though he really wanted to spend his allowance.

Went to see the Boston Light Show. It was great! Better than last year's. They had a lot more kid's friendly and interacting displays which were awesome and my kids enjoyed. Had the fried dough and fired oreos and do not recommend, drenched in oil so much tou can tasted it. Other than that the zoo is always amazing when we go.
Awesome sauce I saw giraffes male and female. In addition male zebra was rather interesting. Saw long neck crane stood 6 feet and the cousin of ostrich the Emu male and female. The gift shop was a nice addition and the post for children to climb up to see giraffes was a nice addition enclosed nice touch. They had a statue of mommy and baby gorilla bronzed of course with bamboo stick for baby to eat can't recall if I took with my camera or my friend that accompanied me. It was a swell outing for the day. Definitely a pleasure ☺ to see new animals I'd never saw before. I got a little tired walking ????♂️ especially one knee so made my visit short. The zoo plans to do light show again hopefully I can get discount tickets seeing I'm disabled to see ???? light show it is speculare for September the mid part of this month 2021. Definitely would take my grands to see the zoo. Great for families and people ???? ❤ of all ages. If they need ambassador I'd gladly drive around the city of Boston and do tours on the golf carts to show different sites to be seen by people wanting a tour. Hint hint in need of seasonal ???? employment.
Awesome lights!!! Beautiful, colorful, well organized and orderly!!!
It's a really great place for adults, children and everyone. The decorations of lights are really awesome and very unique 2 hours is not enough guys please go early. The time tickets are not so much accurately seen by ticket collector so …
A must visit zoo! We went on a rainy day and the animals were awesome with no one else around. The kids play area is amazing!
Best experience ever!!! I get more excited than my kids ????????????????

Totally not worth the cost of admission. I paid $21. The entrance near Franklin Park looks abandoned and it was chained, but an employee let me enter. I've seen more animals on a local farm. The kids that were there were more excited to play on the playground than they were to see the animals. Definitely not comparable to the San Diego Zoo.
Some places are easy 5 to give them them the highest rating. Franlin zoo is one of them. The best time here and the coolest things to see.

Visited this week for Boston Lights, what a great event. Lots of displays. A great event for all ages. Some food and drinks are available as well. Get your tickets online in advance they sell out quickly
I can’t stress how awesome this light walk through was. From the entrance to the exit is was beautiful. They put in a lot of hard work and it showed. Good Job to the creators and the staff who set it all up. It was absolutely amazing!!
The Light Boston summer event was spectacular, viewing every single float available. The park is somewhat large, but the day I arrived, nobody was checking for one's tickets at admissions. I took a "back-entrance" from the park to the zoo, yet there was no person at the gates, which was extremely odd. I came at 4PM, and they close at 5PM, which was a bit more shocking. Nonetheless, the animals seem to have much space to roam free, and if one is not willing to see any animal in captivity, the metal replicas will sure do justice as an homage to them!
We had a great time and I ain't lion!!!

I liked the lions ...others may prefer giraffes, perhaps. Exciting food menu, disappointing food options in-stock.

Nice outting for the family. The BEST part was the gorilla and peacock!!!! But I'm from New Jersey and the Philadelphia Zoo is much better!!
Went in for a lantern festival, it was amazing. Timed tickets were great idea, zoo wasn't crowded and it was possible to see many things up close. My kid was fascinated and keeps talking about the dragon lantern ????. Parking was easy despite few lots being full, but we had easy access from the parking lot to the zoo entry. Loved it!

Loved the night light show!!! Souvenirs were crazy expensive, as we expected. Ticket prices were a terrific value. Parents loved it as much as the kids did!
Had a lot of fun at the walkthrough light festival; great for kids!
What isn't too love about this zoo? My partner and I spent HOURS here over the summer getting lost in all of the beautiful attractions and looking at the critters. The bird cage was one of my favorite places, especially with the bird seed lollipops they give you to feed the little guys. The zoo was WAY bigger than we thought, because the zoo map made it look pretty small. Parking was super easy and convenient, and we arrived just after opening, so we made it inside in less than five minutes of arriving at the gate. The animals looked healthy and well taken care of, and all of the enclosures were well kept and clean. The goats were a bit tired due to the 80 degree heat, but the ice cream booths and AC in the shops made it a nice experience for the two of us. The gift shop was quaint, and not as expensive as you'd expect for a Boston attraction. We left with some cute souvenirs, and the lunch there was excellent and had very large portions. Enough for two people to share one meal and still have too much food. The only downside was that we arrived too late in the season to see the butterfly enclosure, but the rest of the views made it all worth it.
Nice zoo with many prominent animals. Gorilla deserves a special mention here. Staff is also very friendly. They do lighting in oct month, which is very nice. Over all good trip for kids.
I can't say the Zoo was horrible but they definitely need some funding. I wish I was rich but I'm not. It is a large area with quite surprising a large amount acreage but I personally don't feel as though they are using the entire acreage in the smartest way. The enclosures need some serious help and should be bigger. (Just my opinion) I don't blame the staff because I'm sure like most places their short staffed. I do however, think they are spending more money and effort on the "light show" than the animals and property. Many enclosures where closed and the others that were open are not well kept at all. Beware of the indoor exhibits too they smell horrible especially the bird enclosure. This one, for me, was a hard pass and one of the worse Zoo's I've been too.
What a great family spot. The perfect day, really. I mean you get to see exotic birds and animals and enjoy a family day all at the same time. There's a massive playground too. Staff was incredible.
Pretty good zoo. Lots of cool animals! Barbed wire on human entrances was a bit much. Also a lot of construction going on.
LOVED IT! The night light show was a visual thriller. It's a must see. Just beautiful. Parking was fine and free. You hardly knew you walked a little over a mile in this experience.
Excellent presentation at Boston Lights on a chilly Fall evening. The lights and exhibitions were walm, welcoming and wow-ing! Looking forward to returning next year already and if tickets weren’t sold out, I would have bought tickets to see it again. Staff were professional and courteous.
This is an ok zoo to go to. Not the best I have been to. The layout is good, it flows well and they are currently making improvements but some of the exhibits are a showing age and there aren't a lot of them. They seem condensed into certain areas or buildings. There is a bird building and large condor aviary, large playground area (if you have kids), giraffe pen and tropical forest building, which were interesting and fun to go through. They had one food stand open and it took 20+ minutes to get our food, so be prepared to wait. Also, parking was kind of confusing and I ended up parking in a dirt lot with huge pot holes. Luckily I have a truck. A fun afternoon overall but just a few disappointments here or there.
Exhibits are very less and not upto standards of other zoo in USA. Boston zoo should have something better to offer. Except for Lion, Tiger, Giraffe and Zebra others weren't as attractive. There is a big play park for kids which were kids enjoyed most.
Such a peaceful zoo, at least on the weekends. my favorite was definitely the baby gorilla even though I couldn’t get any pictures cause it definitely had everyones attention :(.
Went tonight with the family. Not worth the price but it was nice.It took us about 45 mins start to finish. The kids had a good time. They have a few options for food and drinks .$9 for a beer.Bring your own if you must lol.Don’t expect to see any animals. We thought we might see a few but we were wrong.Parking in the back parking lot is also the best option for parking. We didn’t have a problem finding a spot. The entrance was right there also.I assume most people don’t realize it’s there.

Well kept zoo with lots of interesting decorations and very kid-oriented. Would have been 5 stars, but it's hard to see some animals, including lions, tigers, giraffes. It seems like there's construction, so maybe this will be addressed in the future.
The lantern festival was an absolutely amazing experience. My daughter just moved to Boston and this was our first outing. We didn't know what to expect and we were blown away! Go next year!!
The Boston Lights were wonderful. Well executed and a very pleasant evening. Parking at the event was a bit of a challenge, with lots either full or closed. Wound up parking and entering at the Giraffe (back) entrance, wish we tried that first.

I was about 3 or 4 when my mother took me to Franklin Park Zoo. I loved it! When my daughter was around the same age when I took her there. These are some of my most precious memories w/her! I love FPZ because they treat the animals so well. It's clean. Reasonably priced and of course most of the money maintains the Zoo.
The zoo was nice. I have seen better. But it was entertaining. I really liked the art work and the sculptures. I think that stood out more. It's a nice place to take pictures. Overall it was a nice day with my family.
Not worth the money even if it was free. I spent $60 round trip to Uber there. The walking paths were uneven and dirty. Many of the exhibits were closed. The animals didn't look healthy and were difficult to see. As you walk through the park it is littered with all of these statue like structures that may look really cool at night because they seem to be lit up at night but just failed to be impressive at all in daylight. I just wish they would have invested more money on the park and animals and less on fluff!!!
We had a great time at Franklin Park Zoo! We spent the weekend all together as a family, which is rare now that half of our kids are adults and on their own. During the day we spent roaming the zoo and checking out the animals, and had a …

The best. Can’t believe how amazing this zoo is.
Nice open area Zoo. It was a little hard to see some of the animals due to the heat. This is a nice and different setting.
A great way to spend a morning! There are some really great exhibits to see. The nocturnal Kiwi house was our favorite, since we have not seen kiwis in a zoo before. Word to the wise: The food stand is just as overpriced as you would expect, so bring your own snacks or find food outside of the park after your visit.

We have been going to the zoo for many years and have always enjoyed it, however, we're disappointed by our most recent visit. Certain sections of the zoo are closed and many of the animals were missing from the cages/enclosures. They should be reducing the ticket price or letting people know ahead of time that there is limited access so that people are aware of the changes.

Not bad but I don't think it was worth the 50min drive from my house. Think the playground was where the most people were spending their time. Gift shop small. Not a lot to see. Tiger was my favorite.
I always like going to the zoo. My kiddos loved it too, but we weren't able to feed the parakeets. Still had a good time.

An awesome experience. They featured a night lights exhibit with an amazing display of lights decorating the entire part. Even without the lights, the animals were fun to see and watch.
My kids enjoyed it alot. Alot of the animals were out. Parking is a little tough but so worth it. Gorillas are amazing we even seen the baby hippo. Would go again. This was our second time. Great place to bring the kids for a dat. Cute little gift shop so many little playgrounds and slides abd things for the kids!

Thank you!!! I had an awesome experience, due to your providing scooter rentals! What a treat...especially for my knees and feet! I was able to get around easily, the staff were so accommodating and kind! Only wish I could've stayed for the Light Show.

Currently all tickets need to be purchased online. I needed to rent a wheel chair and the woman who handled the ticket booth handled that as well. She was very pleasant and helped set the mood for a great time, even during Covid. While the zoo could clearly use more funding and more animals it was very clean and an relaxing time. Everyone was doing a great job of compliance with face masks and distance and still conversing with others as watching animals. And it includes some play areas for children to get out some energy.
So I read the 1 star reviews before we went.... omg what the heck are they talkin' about!?!? The zoo was awesome! Tons of animals in view, enclosures were clean and roomy, everything was great! Lots of walking and it's Dec so.... can't wait to come back in spring/summer. The jungle rain forest exhibit was amazing!
During the Boston Lighting. This is a great place to bring your kids.
Good lay out and structure of the zoo. But going here on Dec, there's not much animals roaming around. But overall nice zoo ????
We went to see the Boston Lights. Took my granddaughter, what an excellent time we had. I lights were brilliant, a fun time had by all. I just would have liked a return call. I wanted to know if we could buy tickets at the zoo. No one ever called me back. That was unfortunate but we had alot of fun. Especially during this time. We thought it was well organized, people were extremely friendly. A very unexpected great experience. Enjoyed by all. Thank you for giving us a fun time.
My family enjoyed this so much. It was an asian inspired theme. We walked around twice and stopped by a fried dough stand for a quick snack. Yum!
Love Franklin Park zoo. I've enjoy the lantern experience very much.
Excellent exhibitions. Everyone stayed 6 feet apart every one had on masks literally 100% of people even kids had on masks. Got to see the new baby hippo!
A few excellent highlights, but also a lot of empty space and empty exhibits. If they didn't currently have the huge impressive animals out for special display there would be long paths and large pieces of land that have absolutely nothing. But the playground is beautiful and the whole place is well kept and pretty.

Had a great time as always, this has been my favorite zoo since I was a kid. I highly recommend.
Good place to take your kids for few hours. Lot of animals and birds. Food drinks and play area are spacious enough to accommodate large gatherings.
We spent all day exploring and having fun. Kids loved the glowing animals. The reptiles was fun but they really enjoyed the gorila. It was a fun day, lots of attractions and a huge playground
Really enjoyed the zoo. Kids loved it. Lovely scenery

I went here with my family and it was a nice zoo but it wasn’t a long day and compared to the Bronx zoo in New York it wasn’t even close. On some paths there was no animals and just the things for the Boston lights at night so was kind of boring. The animals looked good and they did a good job with being open during covid. It felt safe but this isn’t a whole day thing. The worst thing was the direction in the park it was very confusing and there was one way paths but people were walking the other way. It wasn’t very good but all in all it depends on what you like so plan cautiously.
Zoo Lights is a must see activity! Absolutely stunning. Minus one star because of inadequate parking and rest rooms

Nice zoo. We were there for 3 hrs. Walking around. I was a little disappointed that it felt like there was more space allotted for the decorations than for exhibits.

Came here for the lantern light exhibit and it's fantastic!! It's a one way loop around the zoo with 2 entrances to get in. One from zebra entrance, and the opposite side. Takes about an hour to walk through if you are taking photos and enjoying what's available to read and listen to. There was ice cream and restrooms in the loop as well.
Fun family day.
A must see nice family fun event.Absolutely beautiful takes about an hour to walk through depending on how fast you walk I should have done video instead of pictures so you could see the animation.
Its was a beautiful to walk around the zoo to see the animals ????
This display was awesome!! The little kids were having loads of fun with the displays. Dont forget to bring the bug spray as it had its fair share of bugs.
The zoo appears dated with many signs faded and landscape overgrown. It appeared unmaintained, but the exhibits themselves are fine. The gorillas stole the show.

The lights were wonderful however the crowds were intense and constant making it incredibly difficult to enjoy some of more popular displays which was upsetting as it was assumed that by scheduling a time this would not have been an issue. The lack of attendants was also disappointing as many people were climbing on or interacting with the displays despite the many signs asking viewers not to touch.

We took some of our grandchildren (18 mos, 2-1/2 yrs, twin 5 yr olds, and a 10 yr old) to the Franklin Park Zoo at night to see the Boston Lights show and they loved it! I attended the Boston Lantern Light experience yesterday with my daughter and best friend with her daughter. We had an amazing time! The lights and animations were breathtaking; the colors were extremely vibrant. While the event was really packed, everyone did their best with social distancing and respecting each other's space and time while using any of the attractions. The Franklin Park staff was very courteous and helpful throughout the whole thing. I definitely recommend this event for all to see!
Watched the CAA cross country championship at the park...it was a pretty nasty day. The start and finish line at this course is across from the Zoo entrance.
