If you are into architecture and animals this is the perfect place for you. Former Olympic velodrome venue, the biodome now houses 4 miniature ecosystems. Originally designed in the 70s by Roger Taillibert and renovated by Kanva Architectural studio. This place is fun for all ages and those who are into architecture and design.

Very deceiving. It’s very surprising that after major renovations that this is the end results. One of the major flaw is that there are no signs for direction and no posters with name of the animals that you are suppose to see as you would expect. I think they want you to use their interactive plateform but it’s not convenient. Signs should be there regardless. Also, I feel like there were fewer animals then before. Overall it was very underwhelming. They should really put signs in there as a minimum. This is a major Montreal attraction for tourists. This renovation was poorly executed and does not reflect what an attraction of this kind should look like.

Montreal Biodome is one of the greatest legacies of the complicated Olympic Games of 1976. The city plunged in huge debt which took years to recover, but left beauties as this place, which for sure is worth to visit, especially if you have kids. You'll appreciate various ecosystems. It's a pleasant place to go!

Good place for family outing. It has different zones of different type of climates. Parking is paid and separate from entrance tickets. Tickets are costly compared to experience but you don't get to see these climates within Canada, so for people who can't travel outside this is a good option. Cafeteria has got options for different dietary restrictions

Great place to take the kids. All the ecosystems are well presented and they have a decent collection of wildlife. Sadly, you can see the entire thing in less than an hour ????.

They don't seem to take care of the animals. The penguins have half their feathers misding and the animals look anxious as hell. All very sad. The environments themselves are well done, especially the rainforest.

We visited the Biodome while visiting Montreal for a concert and were very impressed. It was definitely a great experience to visit the Biodome, I enjoyed how you travel through different climate regions as you work your way through the dome. We will definitely visit again in the near future.

Cool little zoo to visit with four distinct areas to explore. This is a really cool use of the former Olympic infrastructure. A lot of the animals are nocturnal so they are a bit inactive or can be hard to spot. Admission is reasonably priced as you can easily spend two or three hours reading the information and spotting the animals.

Lots of land, air, water flora and fauna, the parrots talk if you speak Spanish to them. Parking is free on the streets surrounding, figure spending about an hour to take in all the eco zones

The kids loved it! They enjoyed the penguins and the sturgeon the most. Kid friendly. I went as a child and gave me that nostalgic feeling and appreciated sharing with my kids. EV parking available, I missed it, near the beginning of the parking. A little cumbersome outside directions and inside directions. This place is booked to capacity every day, book a few days in advance during summer months. Go have fun and learn.

This was a really brief visit for me. If you keep a comfortable pace through the exhibits you won't spend longer than twenty minutes here. It's probably worth the price of admission if you're here for the other attractions in the area as well.

Had a great time with my 2 and a half year old, the exhibits arent huge, but we still managed to stay for almost 3 hours. The app isn't working that well currently, if you want to use it to guide you, but we didn't find it necessary as there were always friendly and helpful educators around.

Amazing. Great for kids and adults. It’s a bit of a maze layout wise. The signage is removed and it’s expected to download the app, otherwise you won’t know which animals are in which enclosure.

I entered Biodome around 10:30 in the morning . Luckily the penguin feeding show started around 10:45, so checked out the Penguins session was the first thing I did in the place . Most of the visitors here are kids , so if you do not mind hearing kids screaming or shouting all the time , I do really recommend you to come to this amazing indoor zoo.

When I bought my tickets online it stated 90min and upon arrival I was greeted immediately and told there was no time limit! We took our time really appreciating all 4 ecosystems and it took us just under 2 hours. We then spent the rest of our day at the botanical gardens - where you could easily pass an entire day - highly recommend. The biodome is very well taken care of and maintained. The intertwinement of the various animals in their habitats was fascinating! I did hate to see so many penguins in such a small enclosure though. Many of the sturgeon seemed to have scabs along their scales. I just hope it’s being looked after!

Very disappointing. All four ecosystems could have been wonderful if there had been any signs, labels or information anywhere. It was frustrating to walk around having no idea what animals to look for nor to be able to identify any animals you did see. There was no information about about anything in any language. Perhaps, this is not ready for public viewing but if that is the case, this should have been stated on the website or the tickets should have been discounted 75%. We are usually very impressed by museums and exhibitions in Montreal. Not this time.

I went to this place twice, once before the renovation and after. I like it actually before the renovation more. It used to have more animals and more vibrant environment. After the renovation, the place looks nice and neat but the animals are really fewer than before, and you barely see them. The most exciting part is seeing the penguins!

Childhood memories not fulfilled, I’d say the botanical garden was cooler than the bio dome for adults. Each take about 45 minutes. If you take an Uber make sure you impute Montreal botanical garden and not Jardin botanique as it will drive you to the middle of the park and not the entrance

Very interesting and engaging place. 4 different areas to visit involving different types of animals. Over all the place is quite small with only a few animals. Takes approximately 1-2h for entire walkthrough, depending on how in-depth you desire to look into each area.

Aside from genuinely not enjoying seeing animals caged (specifically the two Canadian lynx's), it is a very nicely built exhibit. The tropical section is extremely hot, and will result in immediate sweat! Highly recommend doing it first, and then immediately going to the polar exhibit.

I almost always visit here when in Montreal. The whole area is divided into sections based on the regions where the animals/life forms are from. The otters always steal the limelight! A must visit if you have kids in your party, it is a wonderful experience. If you have never been here then you must definitely visit. We parked on the street when we went as told to us by the ushers.

July 2021 4.5★ a really excellent display of the north American bio diversity in the different seasons/weather regions. A wide range of animals in a setting that resembles their own habitat. Admission fees which are about $25 power adult are worth it, but obviously going to 2 museums for about $40 is a better deal. Expect to spend at least 2 hours inside.

I love these type of places. You get to see animals in habitats that are also fun to see. My favorite was the parrots. If you're bringing camera equipment please be warned: the various humidities and temperatures will play havoc with condensation. Take it slow and you will get great pictures!

Tried to purchase tickets online before our visit but their online portal wasn't working. We drove 2.5hrs to get there on a Tuesday afternoon and was told we had to wait 1.5 hours for entrance. While waiting in the lobby we witnessed way too many guests either not wearing a mask or wearing it incorrectly (dozens with their nose exposed, down around chin). I mentioned it to a few staff members and they kind of shrugged it off. We even witnessed staff admitting individuals into the atrium without a mask entirely. When we were finally able to enter, it was crowded and social distancing was non-existent. It made me incredibly uncomfortable. Besides the lack of COVID protocol enforcement, I was a bit disappointed that there was little information identifying the animal and plant species in each ecosystem. Overall, we enjoyed the bidome, but the experience was an uncomfortable one due to the lack of COVID protocol being enforced.

The renovations are really awesome, the central hall is impressive! They also worked on the "paths" and added a higher section which give you an incredible view to the St-Laurent Valley. That being said there are no more informational signs anywhere and you are told to consult their slow, buggy app which has a unintuitive layout. I recommend not installing it and instead asking your question to the employees that walk around.

This place is perfect for families and even adults who would like to see different seasons and some Animals. The biodome is beautiful and recently renovated . Loved the help the space and of course the settings. Well worth the visit.

This place was fun!! It was a really unqiue experience because of all the different spaces that housed the animals according to their natural habitat's climate. We experienced cold (sub-antarctic islands) to humid (tropical rainforest) climates, and that made the journey feel so real and unique. Definitely a different feel compared to all the other similar places we've visited before.

Great escape from the Montreal cold. Amazing to see essentially a zoo take such great care to make proper environments for the animals! Felt like I was on a nature walk than an indoor zoo. Just be careful walking into the jungle biome in full winter gear! The humidity caught me by surprise! Also caught a raccoon feeding. Very cute.

I love this place! The biodome doesn't have as many exotic animals as a regular zoo but they have more than enough to keep you entertained and the way its all layer out is really cool. The app that they offer to anyone with a mobile phone made navigation the different exotic systems easier and I thought it was fun reading that there was an animal in the trees around us and racing to find.

This was a fantastic experience. Really regret not going until now even though I was in Montreal for 3 years, but a marvelous day to spend some quality time with your family/ friends. If anyone got a kid, sure they'll enjoying more than anyone else with all the wild and aquatic life and there are 4 climatic conditions available inside to experience for you. Overall a good day.

Interesting “indoor zoo”. The penguins seem to be the main attraction. Exhibits do not have any signage/educational information which would definitely add to the experience. The building itself is unique and futuristic. Definitely photo worthy.

Great place for an afternoon out with the family. Lots of animals to see and kids will love the penguins. The surrounding area is huge (Old Olympic park) so be prepared to walk especially if you have young kids. Take the metro as it's real convenient. Not sure if there is parking, but it can't be cheap.

Great variety of animals - trying to find some of them was quite a challenge (including the sloth, which evaded us despite no lack of effort on our part!) Lots of diversity in exhibits, such that everyone will be drawn to a certain area. For me, the tropical rainforest was the highlight, due to the charming tamarins and marmosets, but the quality of exhibits is consistently great throughout the facility.

The rain forest exhibit was lovely. I really enjoyed the marmosets. The other areas were less impressive in winter, but could be exciting once animals aren't napping so much.

Went here on a particularly gloomy, rainy day. Currently there is a lot of contruction. But the biodome is smaller then I expected the exhibits were only half working (touch screens panels broken or turned off completely) the ampitheatre was closed completely for renovation (it happens) the animals were cute and the staff friendly but finished the whole thing in about 45 minutes. All staff were bilingual which was helpful as my French is basic. There was a very tiny cafe, And a small gift shop. It was 49$ for all 4 structures (biodome, planetarium, insectarium, and botanical gardens) So can't really complain it was definitely a good value and was a nice way to spend a gloomy day.

The great thing about this zoo is that it doesn't really feel like a zoo. There were no cages in sight, just some glass enclosures and a few wires here and there. Would recommend for families.

Great place to bring the kids. Lots to see but smaller than what I remembered. Sort of went through all the exhibits in under an hour but I'm sure you can spend 2-3 hours here. Agree that the price should be lower. Parking is a flat fee of $20 so take the metro to Pie IX station if you can. Just a short walk from the station to the Biodome.

All visitors should be aware that tickets may not be available upon arrival. Be sure to book your tickets ahead of time for a specific date and time. The biodome features 5 ecosystems found in the American continents: (1) the tropical rainforest ???? (2) the gulf of St. Lawrence ???? (3) the Laurentian maple forest ???? (4+5) the Labrador coast and sub antarctic islands ???? With kids, you can easily spend 2 hours here. For adults, the exhibits are easy to stroll through under an hour. Note that there are no informational plaques. There are educators positioned at each ecosystem that will provide information on animals, plants, etc.

We walked 45 minutes in the cold to get there and the board said tickets were sold out. We waited in the information line for a while after we asked someone at another desk and she told us we could still get in and were able to purchase tickets at said desk. There was no sign for tickets/billets. The price was okay for a family of 4 with young children. We went in and nothing was marked except the entrance to each habitat. I noticed other people had guide books but I still have no clue where they got them. Luckily I was a biology major and could give my 4 year old a little tour. We quite enjoyed the cafe at the end, even my husband who would never willingly eat vegetarian. The veggie pizza was great. Overall, we were perplexed at the general lack of posted signs/helpful information that was unlike any museum we've ever visited.

After so many years of renovations, I was really disappointed. No signage, explanation of what we're looking at. If you're going to keep animals in captivity for our entertainment, there should at least be so.e sort of informational and educational component. My 4 year old was excited to see the animals but had so many questions about where the animals came from, what they eat, etc and I didn't want to take out my phone each time. What a shame. Hopefully this is something that will be updated in the future.

This is an awesome place for taking kids in a trip. It very close to Viau metro station (subway) which made this place very accessible (more if you're in winter time with kids that are not accosting to that weather). I would say 2 min walk (because my kids were distracted with a new thing in their life...snow). They had a tropical area which didn't impress me because I'm from a tropical island but they did a very good job on it. So if you haven't seen a tropical forest before and live in the area I would definitely recommend it because is very similar to reality and loved seeing the animals there. They had a view of Canada which I didn't see cause I visited Canada in winter time (and I enjoyed seeing it). My kids enjoyed it, and they loved the play ground and the animal customs they have for kids to use in there. The guy disguised as a parrot was very friendly, made their day with a lot of laughs! It was a very good experience and if I come back to Montreal in the future I will definitely visit the biodome again!

Definitely worth to visit! I spent 2 hours for my first time visiting, and my favourite is the Antarctic lands where you can watch the penguins. Forest is the largest and you could find some surprises on the tree is you are really patient over there. I like the idea where the new Biodôme is coming from and would highly recommend!

The staff is spread out a bit everywhere and is very helpful in guiding us to the right paths. There are three different microclimates to visit and the whole place is very well-designed. There's even a new mezzanine level where you can look over the entire area. There are lockers in the basement to leave your things for the day and there's an underground tunnel giving access to the planetarium next door. Good family outing.

After an expectation of three years the biodom opened again after extensive renovations. So after the winds calmed down and we really managed to book the tickets we visited the place with three kids. 13, 10, 6. The kids really enjoyed it and so did we. We started the visit from the ice tunnel that led to the penguins and luckily we arrived just in time for their feeding. It was cool to see that. From there we continued to see the tropical climate a route that lasted without stopping, there was always something different that caught the eye. The kids really got excited. A visit lasting about two hours. The place has compartments for coats etc. (probably for a fee, we did not inquire) Recommended!

Wonderful, simply wonderful. Cafeteria has great healthy choices. Nearly all the animals are on full display and they seemed to be quite active. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We found that it took us about two hours to go through with lots of time taking photos and trying to pick out all the birds and animals in each environment. You can tell that a lot of time and effort went into the renovation to make each environment as realistic a habitat as possible. I particularly was wowed (and surprised) by the tunnel constructed of real ice. I would definitely come back and go through this again, I am glad my wife made sure to get us tickets during our tike in Montreal.

Great place to visit when you are in Montreal. Artificial forest created in the middle of the city in a dome. Penguin habitat with some chilly and eye popping ice walls. The structure is magnificent and better still, it feels and looks unbelievably immaculate. Kudos to the management.

really underwhelming honestly. even just going to a zoo would be better they only have like 30 animals here and they have minimal exhibits. they try and cover the rainforest habitats, ice habitats and forest habitats all in 1 small place which takes away alot from the entire experience. I went once before the renovation and once after. Came in the late crowd, ticket for 5:30 even though they close at 6, they let you enjoy for 90 mins. Plenty of animals to see. We got to witness one of the handlers feed the otter a fish, racoons climbing, and beavers just doing their thing. There was also a hidden flamingo amongst other things you may have missed on your first walk though. As we were leaving, we took one last walk through a section we already went though and we almost left and missed the bobcat. I really enjoyed the penguins and the fish the most. Walking into the Arctic biodome was the best when it was over 30 degrees outside. Walking into the humid forest was worse than outside haha. Overall, worth going if you want to play where's waldo with some of the animals.

It wasn’t so big as I was expecting but it was fun. The tropical forest and penguin attractions are the best. The rest, so so. Make sure you won’t do as I did and book the last time slot. After 5 some sections are dark and look like close and the animals are hidden. Not so cool, but I understand it was my fault. Regardless good attraction to take the family during a cold or rainy day.

Go see the renovated Biodome. It's quite different from before with new surprises and an interactive section for kids upstairs where you can view all the biospheres from above. The nursing room is between the Biodome and the planetarium - worth knowing ????????

Not an extensive collection, but high quality exhibits. I am not an animal biologist, so take this with a grain of salt, but the animals I saw appeared more active on average compared to other zoos I've been too. Diving birds were actively catching fish, and an otter was playfully rolling around in the dirt.

There are 3 main areas to view when you visit the biodome, however each section has a few different, separated areas to walk through. Some of the animals may be sleeping, or otherwise hidden in their habitat, so you may not see them all as when I was there, but keep an eye out as some of them are quite well camouflaged among the trees, cliffs, and foliage! I thought the design was really well done, and often had to look up to see if I really was still indoors! There are a lot of real trees and plants, but also some fake trees you'd swear are real, as well as fake cliffs, boulders, and rocks that work so well with the trees and streams that I wondered if the biodome was built around them! It's a great place to bring the young ones, and we saw many parents pushing their strollers through, so that shouldn't be an issue if you were wondering. There was quite a lot to see, but even at a relatively relaxed pace, it only took us about an hour, hour and a half to get through all 3 main areas. The good news is you are not time-limited, so can go back to revisit the areas as you like without issue. That said, you could set aside 2 to 2.5 hours to be on the safe side if you are looking to schedule this in amongst other site-seeing during the day.

The biodome is location in Montreal’s east end right beside the ever expensive and rarely work it Montreal Olympic stadium (not bitter at all) Here you will find different ecosystems and the animas that call that area home. It’s both educational and fun. During the pandemic its mandatory to book a time slots. Accessible by car, bus and metro (subway)

Worth doing a second look through zones as our first pass some of the places were more quiet but the second time everything was up and moving around. Staff was fantastic and spoke fluently both english and french. My 5yr old had a broken leg(yay!...) and I was able to borrow a wheelchair on location free of charge.

The animals are sometimes hard to spot because of that, since they're not on a cage waiting for you to take a photo, but I think that that adds another level of excitement to the visit since it's almost like venturing into the wild. I have been to the Biodome 3 times in my life. Decades ago when it first opened, about 7-8 years ago and then today. My memory of this place is outstanding, definitely a must go visit for Montreal. However after today's visit, I am not too sure about that. I don't know if it's covid or changes made, but today's seemed lacking and wanting. I didn't mind setting a time for when I showed up because covid, but inside was still so filled with people I don't see how it made any difference. And then going through it, there seemed to a lot missing. I actually had to triple check if I actually went through all the sections - and I did....even to the mezzanine.

Main attraction is the building itself, it is modern and big. While I appreciate the overall biodiversity concept, we were surprised to see that in such a huge building many animals had quite limited space which doesn't help them to do well in captivity. Penguin space seemed very crowded and small, so was the seagulls one and a few others. Rainforest was extremely hot with many people there at once, so if you go in summer it will be hard to bear. Overall, they had a good concept in mind but it didn't quite work out, and animals could have been given much better and spacious conditions to mimic their real home (even though it would never replace it).

Very fun time. We had tickets for a set time, but the kids were sick that day. Very helpful customer service explained how to use them as walk INS in another day, which we did. A few of the interactive exhibits weren't working and the insectarium was closed for renovations (which they'd clearly indicated). Will definitely be back

So I went here on a trip and have been here a few times in the past throughout my life. I think the price is fine for admission, and I do think it’s very cool to be able to walk through habitats instead of just looking at them through glass. It’s definitely an interesting concept and I think it adds to the charm of the place. HOWEVER... it was already a pretty hot day when I went, so I found it hard to stay in the rainforest habitat, even though I wanted to stay and watch the animals there much more, I was unable to as with the already hot weather, the added heat and humidity from the habitat and my mask, it was almost unbearable. So that was an unfortunate drawback of the habitat experience. Then I tried to make it to the maple forest habitat, which I had issues finding as the place is a bit hard to navigate. There was supposed to be otters I think? But they weren’t there, the habitat was pretty and it was very fun to watch the beavers. The other habitats mainly consisted of birds, with the penguins being the main draw. The penguins are very showed off compared to other animals, as you can defiantly always see them doing things. They’re very cute, and there’s a variety of penguins. However I felt their habitat was a bit small. The room that the penguins in also has an echo, and there tends to be children shrieking a lot when an animal moves so the sound can be a bit deafening. Overall, really not that many animals, I was in and out in about 30 min. There’s also no labels on anything, because you need an app, but that annoyed me because I don’t want to drain my battery and use storage for an app. Id really rather just read or see any kind of label, even just the name of the animal! I mean my favorite thing was this large snake, I think it was an anaconda but I don’t know as there was no signage, so Yea, defiantly check out the mystery snake, or it could be a dog for all I know there was no label. As well there were lots of narrow spaces, and so many parents with strollers, so I found it difficult to get through. So. Many. Strollers. Overall I had fun, it’s not an amazing animal experience but I feel it’s unique in its own way and with some improvements good be very good, however they just had a large scale renovation so it doesn’t seem like that will happen soon... :( ALSO make sure to book ahead, I did and had no issues getting in. If you want to go to places like this, book online, it’ll save you lots of stress and time!

No clue why this place is rated as high as it is. It is a poorly managed circus of a zoo at best in a building with a lot of windows encircled on the outside by an endless sea of orange traffic cones. The staff is non existent and there are no signs explaining anything and feels like going through children's corn maze without the corn. I saw more animals on a Telus commercial than I did here. Save your money go somewhere else.

a short but great outting with our 3 and 6 year old youngsters. Even our 10 year old was happy to come back 5 years later. every space is well maintained and feels authentic. animals and plants seem “happy”. still in covid mode, so wearing a mask is mandatory, and could be overwhelming in the hot-humid environment, but there are plenty of cool spots and even a water bottle filler (keep your eyes open for that). plenty of washrooms, and even a breastfeeding room. great all around.

This place is perfect for families with kids. The animals are amazing, the territory is clean, well maintained, and organized. You get a special brochure with the description of the animals in each section. The building is not too big for the kids to get tired. The nice bonus was the cafeteria. There are tables where you can eat your own food. There are even microwaves that can be used by the visitors. This place is really kids and family friendly! Make sure you buy the tickets in advance.

A great place to take little ones and learn about all the animals there. My only gripe is the areas inside are hard to find due to small and not so easy to find signs. It took for us to ask another visitor where the gift shop was because we assumed there was none since it wasn't clear they even had one anymore. But other than that small nitpick, it was great and I recommend going! My kids were 3 and 5 years old and it was a winner.

If this is your 1st. time, it's a beautiful space to visit, a few animals and a gorgeous five ecosystems. They said that they were doing some renovations and a kind of make over but I've been twice and this is my 3rd time after the renovations. TO BE HONEST.. DOESN'T SEEM LIKE MUCH HAS CHANGED. In the ecosystem, no new animals or plants. The only makeover I found was the main hall entrance and on the 3rd floor a little little interactive space called bio machine which I found is mostly for kids. AND NO SOCIAL DISTANCING.. BECAUSE THERE WAS TO MANY PEOPLE Kind of disappointed ????

Probably since the "exhibits" are based off the actual climate and habitat of these animals. I didn't have a problem with the admission price, it was about $25 for my American friend and $15 for me because of the student discount. Plus, keeping the place that clean and well decorated and feeding the animals costs money. Spent a good few hours taking pictures and enjoying the scenery. Would recommend

Biodome is one of the places you should visit in your stay in Montréal. We loved how they showed biodiversity and also different climates in this complex. You will see sub Antarctic, tropical rain forests, maple forests and marine animals. Penguins were the most stunning creatures we saw. Great place to spend time with family and kids.

The place was fun and exciting! It was a unique experience because of the different regions you’ll go through, and the best part is that they are trying to give you the full experience by making sure that you’ll have different temperatures in each section according to their natural habitat's climate. So when you get into Labrador to see the penguins you’ll feel cold, and when you go to the Humid regions to see the birds and monkeys you’ll feel extremely hot I suggest you to wear a t-shirt and a jacket for the different temperature you have to go through The service was amazing, guides everywhere, the receptionist was helpful Overall we spent like 2 hours and we enjoyed it

Relaxing if you go during the week and not weekends. There's not much difference before and after the renovation, except that you can climb up the 2nd floor and view the areas from above. You can view everything easily by walking slowly in ~1h30.

Newly renovated and finally open!! Although a fun way to spend an afternoon I have to say it hasn't changed that much from the last time I was there. Although the Penguins are always a crowd favorite and the tropical section is fun, they have Monkeys and Capybarras!!! the overall experience felt a little too fabricated. Fun as a one time visit but hard in my opinion to get repeat visitors. Although hard with little one it really pays to take your time and really look around, the animals are often not out in the open. Overall a pleasant experience.

Didn't get inside but walked from the top of the property down to the kids outdoor moonwalk and jumping play area. Up above the biodome and stairway to get down to biodome is blocked by outdoor cafe that's closed, and difficult to get there. The security lady came out le door and told me not allowed in outdoor cafe in the afternoon ! I asked how to get thru to dome and she just CLOSED her door while I walked around to a locked door !! So I climbed le stone mini wall and and jumped down to the other side !!????????☹️

Me and my boyfriend went for our anniversary because he knows how much I've missed animals through the pandemic and it was definitely a good choice. Staff was helpful and friendly, and the habits and animals were beautiful. The only reason I give four stars and not five is simply because I honestly thought there would be more animals then what there was. Also just to be noted for those considering going you do need your vaccine passport upon entrance.

You can't spend an extremely long amount of time there as there isn't a million things to do but if there's anything your kids enjoy more you can keep going around. For the sheer size of the place they could have more species across the four different exhibit section. The ticket price for tourists looks steep for what is on offer. It was also not easy to find the entrance. There were no clear signs telling where to go. Being an interactive model was nice, staff was friendly & personable. What we saw were a few variety of fishes in different tropical environment, penguin, otters, beavers, parrots, alligators, lion faces monkey, snakes, frogs, jelly fish. The toru took us about an hour +, there is a cafe at the exit point n a gift shop. Enough parking space available inside and outside. It is well connected with the transit. Metro & buses are close by. While planning, biodome n the botanical gardens can be done on the same day. Tickets can be booked online.

The shape of the building is perfect. When it rains, you can stand on the edge of the building and the slightly oversized roof provides shelter from the rain. I would say maybe 1.2m wide of shelter, but keep in mind you need to factor in winddirection, which will impact the Rain. Hard to access right now due to the construction catwalk. Just head towards the olympic stadium mast when you exit the catwalk, and you will find your way easily. Enjoy.

It feels like a big space but it doesn't seem like enough for many of these animals. The exhibits are well put together but the penguins, otters, birds, and other creatures can only move in circles so much. Many weren't active at all when I was visiting. But it's cool when they are. The rainforest is a fairly unique experience and it's fun trying to spot the animals in the trees. Lots of educational opportunities for kids and animal enthusiasts. It's a nice place to spend the afternoon with a group of people but I feel for the animals too much to rate it any higher

I was very excited to see the results of the new renovations, and was sooo let down. The whole place feels like some kind of wonky white maze with little signage. No animal enclosure descriptions available unless you use an app. A LOT of wasted space. No coat check anymore, or even paid lockers to keep your jackets in. So if you're visiting in winter, beware of walking the humid jungle room in your coats. The metro ride there took longer than our entire visit. I hope they don't destroy the insectarium next, with this ugly "modern" update. If you have the means of transportation, go to Granby Zoo instead.

Absolutely loved my experience here. This dome is separated into different enviorments, each with their own floral, and fauna ecosystems. You can see countless animals, insects, fish, etc. The entire building feels fresh, and is very renovated. Looks very modern. Overall an amazing experience and I highly recommend it!

The biggest down side of this place is other people. I am not being facetious or curmudgeonly, but given the prevalence of signs asking for six feet of separation between people why is it you end up feeling as if you have just played rugby when you leave some sections? Yes, because people are overly zealous to get a good view and either push to the front or push their children to the front. As always this causes the most popular and often best exhibits to become almost invisible behind a seething mass of people who believe they have more right than others. If anyone could work out a good solution to this common problem, other than limiting attendees, they would probably be hailed a genius. The architecture is interesting. The exhibits are good. The public are just the public.

Me and my boyfriend went for our anniversary because he knows how much I've missed animals through the pandemic and it was definitely a good choice. Staff was helpful and friendly, and the habits and animals were beautiful. The only reason I give four stars and not five is simply because I honestly thought there would be more animals then what there was. Also just to be noted for those considering going you do need your vaccine passport upon entrance.

I can't say that new improvements make it a different experience, but it's a welcome addition. Kids of all ages are going to enjoy it and currently it's less crowded. Free parking in the area is hard to find.

First time we visited Biodome, it was in 2016, with the renovations it is now complete. Perfect place to visit with the family. However at the end you will feel to see more, it would take probably max 2 or 2.5 hours to really appreciate the place. Recommended!

Amazing! I saw penguins in this place yesterday! It was a big surprise to me. I can see penguins without going to North Pole!! The rain forest is also amazing. Just some warning to people who are temperature sensitive: the place you will see penguins has very low temperature and the rain forest has very high temperature. The food cafe offers everything for vegetarians, no meat.

A lot of really cool animals here to look at, tickets for two adults waited to a total of $42CAD. The Arctic biome is a very good place to cool down on hot summer days. I believe that it is a must do for anyone visiting Montreal on vacation.

Built to be used mainly as a velodrome during the 1976 Olympics, its interior was completely redesigned as a space celebrating biodiversity. Absolutely phenomenal experience, built on the old olympic grounds. Spend around 60-90 mins to explore the four regions, from sub-polar penguins to tropical monkeys. Staff were lovely (and took us on a tour to find sloths). Price was well worth it. Animals include monkeys, otters, raccoons, beavers, penguins, fish, alligators, sloths, bobcats, and more. There is a vegetarian restaurant inside, and gift shop.

I’m not sure if it was because we were the last appointed visit for the day but it seemed to be darker than the other areas of the same exhibit, and also seemed to have a lot of penguins in not such a large space. A little bit of a journey to get to this end of the city but worth the trip. There isn't much to do in this area, and many things are not open on the premises. The biodome was closed for several months for renovations. I noticed a new lobby area but still very confusing on where to enter the exhibits and where to go next. You Criss-crossing like a figure eight. With no signs, it isn't apparent. The staff was there to assist but seemed busy in their conversation when I passed through. When you do reach the exhibits, they are amazing. Animals are well-taking care of and beautiful. In the blazing heat, the ice wall will for sure cool you down.

If you haven't been to the Biodome recently I would definitely recommend going for another visit. The 2020 renovation is truly excellent. One of the best parts for me is rather than having a preplanned path of ecosystems like before, every exhibit branches out from a pod. So you could start with the penguins, follow it with the tropics, go back to the penguins, and then anywhere else. I have been visiting the Biodome every few years since my childhood and every time it has been a unique and fun experience.

Not much to see compared with a regular zoo. The penguins seem really sad and the depressing greenish light doesn't help. Not an experience I would pay twice for. Even with a toddler beside us and still in half an hour we were visiting the gift shop already.(which is a ripoff). We saw an alligator sleeping, a capibarra, some birds, a couple of large snakes, some small and big fish. The overall experience feels incomplete.

For the price we paid for, it was ok. We went through it 3x though to make it worth it. My boys are 7 and 2 years old , my 2 year old like the fish area and my 7 boy liked the penguins. Expect it to be super crowded, with not enough in some areas to actually see the exhibit. It worth it a visit? I almost always visit here when in Montreal. The whole area is divided into sections based on the regions where the animals/life forms are from. The otters always steal the limelight! A must visit if you have kids in your party, it is a wonderful experience. If you have never been here then you must definitely visit. Lots of fun! It’s amazing how they can fit four such very different biomes into one place. Go during the week - it felt like we had the entire place to ourself. So many animals to see. My favorite was the aquarium section. So many beautiful fish! It felt almost unreal to be able to see them swim so up close. It felt like you could touch them. The staff was friendly and you are able to go at your own pace. Definitely recommend this place!

It was a big disappointment for me. I expected a better experience after we spent all that money on renovations. There are vast open spaces with very little to see. The tropical forest has so much potential but it is lacking species. It should be filled with colorful birds, reptiles and mammals. There was not much wow for are two grandchildren but the penguins were a hit. I can see that lots of people are rating 5 so perhaps my expectations are too high but for the price tag to get in I think the people responsible for the biodôme should give the paying public a little more for their money. Perhaps a butterfly enclosure, hummingbird aviary video experience of nesting birds etc.

I have been to the Biodome 3 times in my life. Decades ago when it first opened, about 7-8 years ago and then today. My memory of this place is outstanding, definitely a must go visit for Montreal. However after today's visit, I am not too sure about that. I don't know if it's covid or changes made, but today's seemed lacking and wanting. I didn't mind setting a time for when I showed up because covid, but inside was still so filled with people I don't see how it made any difference. And then going through it, there seemed to a lot missing. I actually had to triple check if I actually went through all the sections - and I did....even to the mezzanine.

What a chance we went there before it closed again due to covid19! Absolutely loved it with children 8 and 3! Very genuine and animals are happy and chill! You can tell that they are bring well taken care of and staffs are so proud of their animal friends. Okay first of all this place is a must see! It is reasonably priced and beautiful. However the management and animal caretakers need to add more rules/posters around the penguin habitats. People were using their fingers and jewellery to make the birds follow their movements which although fun for us, is harmful for the birds. There needs to be a sign put in place to make sure people are not doing that. I also saw people banging on the aquariums and snake cases to get the animals attention which is once again, harmful and disturbing to the animal. People also need to know not to take pictures with the flash on and to keep their kids behind the rails. I understand an effort is made to keep the space poster and sign free but people need these reminders as they are necessary for the sanity and health of the animal.

The uniqueness of the building is worth studying. Built for the Olympics, as a Velodrome, there are no visual inner structural supports. Also, the roof is shaped like a bicycle helmet. The animals are distributed in different temperate zones. The entire visit normally takes 1 to 1.5 hours, and then your can move on to another attraction in the Olympic park.

Wonderful engineering to build such place with such controlled environment. But not sure the animals were in great place psychologically. The Penguins were too crowded in such small environment. The snakes refused to reproduce, the staff told. It's not by some fluke. It should be at least thrice it's current size if we are keeping animals there. I mean we can scale down tropical rainforest environment but we can not scale down animal size. They still need decent habitat to move around. To me this is depressing. We can't tolerate a lockdown ourselves and yet we put those animals in such tight spaces. How come? I'm devastated. We can do better.

We walked 45 minutes in the cold to get there and the board said tickets were sold out. We waited in the information line for a while after we asked someone at another desk and she told us we could still get in and were able to purchase tickets at said desk. There was no sign for tickets/billets. The price was okay for a family of 4 with young children. We went in and nothing was marked except the entrance to each habitat. I noticed other people had guide books but I still have no clue where they got them. Luckily I was a biology major and could give my 4 year old a little tour. We quite enjoyed the cafe at the end, even my husband who would never willingly eat vegetarian. The veggie pizza was great. Overall, we were perplexed at the general lack of posted signs/helpful information that was unlike any museum we've ever visited.

When I was with my friend in Montreal we spent most of a rainy day in the Biodome. It looks quite small from outside. However, we spent many hours there. It is an interesting exhibition of the plants and animals in all major climate zones of North America. The information on the panes and the identification guide are quite educating. A visit is highly recommend to everyone who is interested in nature. 4.5 out of 5

Parking was little confusing because signs are in french and we parked at the movie section and we got our quick and went to second parking which was free otherwise it would have been over $20. The place is clean and going from one section is little confusing but make sure you ask and go to all of them.

The new renovations are very nice with the big atrium where every section is available. As usual the penguins were my personal favourite jumping everywhere and swimming quickly. Also got a close look at the beaver which is rare. Lovely experience altogether and definitely recommended for a fun and easy activity. Also very affordable for what it offers.

Such a cool experience. My complaint about here is their website is junk and you don't understand what it is. I took a gamble and it was great. There is 3 "zones" based off different parts of the Americas. 1 zone is North America which is like beavers, otters, ducks, racoons, bats! That sort of stuff. Another zone is rainforest and has Parrots, Crocodiles, Piranhas, anacondas, jelly fish and an awesome aquarium you walk through! Final zone is the artic and holy is that part cool! Its just penquins and puffins, but the exhibit has half water and have terrestrial viewing so it makes it so cool. Went there with my daughter and my only complaint was it is a bit chaotic and busy (went on Sunday at 230). Solo this place would be a 6 star! Will come again and update review accordingly.

Overall experience is interesting, but not worth the price of admission. From an educational perspective, there are no signs to indicate what animals we are seeing, nothing to describe the habitats of animals. That is seriously disappointing.

I've been re-trying all day and nothing.. they give you 2 phone numbers to call for support.. and the offices are closed for undetermined time... not helpful and very frustrating. If you expect people to purchase their tickets online then there should be some technical support available as well.

The biodome is awesome. Been going there since I was a kid as I'm sure alot of Montreal people. It's always a pleasant experience. At times it could be a bit too crammed in though. It's always fun getting through the rainforest and being so hot then getting to the Penguins and freezing ???? Definitely a MTL staple to be visited at least once ????????????

Okay first of all this place is a must see! It is reasonably priced and beautiful. However the management and animal caretakers need to add more rules/posters around the penguin habitats. People were using their fingers and jewellery to make the birds follow their movements which although fun for us, is harmful for the birds. There needs to be a sign put in place to make sure people are not doing that. I also saw people banging on the aquariums and snake cases to get the animals attention which is once again, harmful and disturbing to the animal. People also need to know not to take pictures with the flash on and to keep their kids behind the rails. I understand an effort is made to keep the space poster and sign free but people need these reminders as they are necessary for the sanity and health of the animal.

Definitely worth to visit! I spent 2 hours for my first time visiting, and my favourite is the Antarctic lands where you can watch the penguins. Forest is the largest and you could find some surprises on the tree is you are really patient over there. I like the idea where the new Biodôme is coming from and would highly recommend!

The new renovations are really nice but unfortunately there were no signs up yet when we went that detail the animals / vegetation. Download the app before you go in to the exhibits. Otherwise, you'll just look at things without knowing what they are. The employees are extremely nice and helpful but they can only assist so many people at one time.

I have been to the Biodome 3 times in my life. Decades ago when it first opened, about 7-8 years ago and then today. My memory of this place is outstanding, definitely a must go visit for Montreal. However after today's visit, I am not too sure about that. I don't know if it's covid or changes made, but today's seemed lacking and wanting. I didn't mind setting a time for when I showed up because covid, but inside was still so filled with people I don't see how it made any difference. And then going through it, there seemed to a lot missing. I actually had to triple check if I actually went through all the sections - and I did....even to the mezzanine.

Really cool place great for kids, I’ve been to a lot of similar attractions in other cities but this was a really amazing place. They had tonnes of biodiversity from puffins and penguins to sturgeons, monkeys and macaws. Great for adults and kids alike.

A very unique experience at the biodome, but it could have been way better. My experience here was very short, I had a ticket for 90 minutes, but I saw every exhibit within 50. There were so many kids and families here, which is understandable due to the attractions it had. If you are planning to go here, place your order at least a couple of days before so that you get the time that you want. Everything when entering went smooth, they did not strictly enforce the vaccine passports, and as I was traveling from Ontario and did not have a passport yet, the proof of vaccination was enough as of September 6th.

Loved the Biodome. It's been a while since we've visited. I love the new modern look but find it has a lot of negative space - maybe they could place information stations about the construction in the lobby to make.itmore useful since there's not much detail about it anywhere in the building. The different ecosystems are great and well constructed. There should have been something posted about the app to download before arriving. But it's really interactive. If you don't have a smartphone, you can't get any information on the exhibits. The penguins are always the best and tend to steal the show with their antics. We spent most of the time there. I wish that the Bas St Laurent and Maple forest regions are combined since they are.so similar and that they would include a different kind of region like desert(might be too hard to do...) or even an area where there is a short film about how they designed it or got the animals, more information about the animals from people working there... etc. All in all, very pleased and hope to see more.in the future!

My husband and are in Canada for 3 months so we purchased the annual pass. We did so more for the gardens. The Biodome is entertaining, educational and worth a half a day if you have never been. Penguins, otters, jellyfish, birds, turtles, well, lots to keep children and Instagramers entertained. All of the staff I spoke to spoke English and French and easily answered any questions. On a rainy weekend, I would get there early, as it does fill up.

Not the most exciting animal viewing experience, you can go through the whole Biodôme in about 30 minutes. Just like any other zoo/animal display location, it’s hit and miss for seeing all the animals. There’s a decent amount of animals, unfortunately it’s not a place you can visit multiple times and have an exciting experience each time. If you’ve never been here, I would recommend coming to see the variety of animals, especially if you have children, but don’t expect it to be some large, half-day adventure with the animals.

Montreal Biodome is one of the greatest legacies of the complicated Olympic Games of 1976. The city plunged in huge debt which took years to recover, but left beauties as this place, which for sure is worth to visit, especially if you have kids. You'll appreciate various ecosystems. The shape of the building is perfect. When it rains, you can stand on the edge of the building and the slightly oversized roof provides shelter from the rain. I would say maybe 1.2m wide of shelter, but keep in mind you need to factor in winddirection, which will impact the Rain. Hard to access right now due to the construction catwalk. Just head towards the olympic stadium mast when you exit the catwalk, and you will find your way easily. Enjoy.
