We've got all the feddbacks of people who purchase the products and services of Zoo New York (Zoo) in Belleville territory (Canada).
To this day the firm gets a score of 4.2 out of 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an opinions average is quite positive, and it's founded on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the evaluation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their opinion when they've done well with the business, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to set reviews when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Zoo is included in the category of Zoo.
Well done, very enjoyable!
The park in general is my favorite place to visit in the summer. My dad worked there years ago before it closed for a while
Nice place to see
Seems to be falling apart.
Small, quiet zoo. Easy to get around.
The kids love seeing all the animals.
Needs a few more animals and some upgrades but staff are great, and animals they have are well cared for and healthy. Easy to walk and pretty grounds.
I have gone to this zoo for 52 years. I have pictures of myself in this zoo since I was 3 years old. It has changed over the years. I will always remember the sound of the peacock's that they used to have. Now the zoo is NY animal habitat only. I dont live in NY anymore but I visit every time I am home. I enjoy seeing the animals and taking photos.
Watertown is lucky to have such a beautiful park!
Love that place great.
Great zoo for small town many possibilities to grow
We love the zoo. A bit pricey. Came with 3 grand daughters cost 50$ + We would come back more but can't.
Some of the staff is great. But it's a good place to take the family for the day
The staff was very friendly, informative and helpful
I want to go back to the zoo! This is a place I'd gladly return visit often. Can't wait to do volunteer work here. Lots of small events for the public. Food too expensive for quality!
Colten is blaziken at the boo at the zoo
Very fun
Reservation recommended
Great chance to see a bear that doesn't want to knock your trash can over at 2 am.
So relaxing! Fun! My grandchildren love it too! They love playing window to window with the bears!
Dated
A taste of north country life....no pun intended
Always a fun time
$6–10
Waste money
Great local zoo for the area! Great for families!
I saw animals
Are thay still have kit day
Weekday
Reservation recommended
Always open to the public especially in the warm weather.
Fantastic zoo with a lot of great attractions. A very diverse group of animals that are extremely active.
Great place for family fun.
Maybe I'm spoiled because I grew up going to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, but this zoo was kinda lackluster. Small cages, but it was a nice little walk.
Cool animals, good price, friendly staff
Don't plan on it taking an entire day. We got there at 2:00p.m., and found ourselves back to the entrance at 2:55. Would have been sooner but the wolves kept us entertained for 10 minutes. Animals were taken care...$30 for a family of 4 they should be...
Good way to spend a lazy afternoon. The otters were great fun to watch.
Weekend
Enjoyable zoo for the little ones small but the kids enjoy it
Thompson Park as a whole is a great hilltop location on the edge of Watertown. Lots of picnic areas, trails (paved and woodland-type), golf course, and yes the zoo. Realize that this is North Country NY, and the only animals they can keep here are able to survive the harsh winters here! This is not a standard zoo, but it's a nice ine to take small children to.
I love this place so much!!! I've been going here ever since I was a year old and it never gets old. It's a great place to take the family for a day and hang out???????????????? I would definitely recommend going here!!
A beautiful curated celebration of North American wildlife. I especially enjoyed the softshell turtle exhibit.
Cute little zoo.Nice and tidy.Very friendly staff.
Wonderful animals, fun for all ages
It is simply not enough. The area is growing, the zoo needs to upgrade!
Splash pad was a big hit with my grandkids but there should be more benches there were more grandparents there then places to sit.. bring folding chairs, watching the kids was entertaining!
Great memories are made at this zoo. You must stop by if you are in Watertown
Small zoo, small price. I'd go here again because my grandson loves the place.
Weekday
Very Lively and beautiful
Went when I was younger and this place really sucked. It was such a small zoo. That was almost a decade ago. I want to go in with my husband and they really have expanded on so much. It's still a small zoo and a bit overpriced for the size of it but we really did enjoy yourself
This zoo is adorable, clean and perfect for young children! The paths are easy for strollers, and there are just enough animals the keep your little ones entertained and also a small playground area outside. The best part, you don't feel like you have to 20 miles just to see everything! There are nice, clean bathrooms and a cute concession section inside. I highly recommend this zoo ????????????????????????
Great little place. Easy to walk through. Not a lot of animals took us about 30 min to do the whole thing which was perfect for my 1yr old.
You live in small areas you get small zoos. The wolverine wanted to leave lol.
I love the focus on local and once-local animals. I wish they had the budget for more exhibits, but I'm sure they do too.
I hate to say it but this is a terrible zoo. One of the worst I have ever been too
This outting was great, most of the animals were out and about.
Great place for the family. Excellent zoo. A real gem at Thompson Park
Always open to the public especially in the warm weather.
Good zoo but I wish more exhibits were open
Kinda boring and expensive
Fun place to get out with the family
Great trails and views
Great day, enjoyed the wall, the animals and staff
Very clean zoo. We'll taken care of animals.
They are amazing staff. And the place was well kept.
Barely any animals out, expensive for such a small zoo, was finished looking at everything in 15 minutes! Awful!!
I Really Love that I went here when I was a kid, & to see what they have done in recent years...to the Zoo and Park, is Wonderful!!
Great for family outings. Native animals.....we go every summer. Absolutely beautiful.
For a small zoo it's very nice and layed out nicely, friendly people .
So much fun nice walking
Kids have swings, and splash pad, nice. The pool has been closed for years, and the Porto potties were full and filthy.
We had lots of fun
Not what I remembered as a kid but a great time to go out with the family or friends and get some fresh air!
Nice small local zoo. Good outing for young children
Great for family outings. Native animals.....we go every summer. Absolutely beautiful.
They are amazing staff. And the place was well kept.
No wait
Could definitely use more animals. It's disappointing the petting zoo is gone. It's a nice walk around the park though. I'm sure if more people got memberships, and visited, they could afford to care for more animals though.
Awesome
Fun and like the new park.
Thompson Park zoo is a great place to bring children and see all the different animals with a small cafeteria if your hungry they also do birthdays last time I went there it's a good time for everyone young and old.
Beautiful experiance
Nice small zoo
The Thompson Park Zoo (or sometimes the NYS Zoo at Thompson Park) does a great job putting on their Boo at the Zoo trick-or-treating for kids.
They do an amazing job with this zoo. Located in a small town...and it's really nice.
Great spot
For an extremely hot day the animals were active to the delight of our granddaughter. Everything was clean. Staff was friendly. Not too crowded. Only the farm animals were absent from our visit. Thank you Watertown for maintaining this iconic park.
My wife and I were visiting from Ottawa, ON, Canada and had a wonderful time at the zoo. The staff were very friendly and one particular staff member went out of her way to show us the wolverine, Valentine, who we were delighted to see. We would definitely visit again!
Not very many animals and is located in an odd location....about 20 mins outside of Watertown...however, the surrounding parks are nice with a great view
Nicely laid out. Good exhibits. Nice variety of animals.
I think this place is so great. Not only is it not that far from where I live but it's a kid friendly zoo: not too big but much to learn. The butterfly exhibit is beautiful. I usually don't like anything that lands on me but I really enjoyed the colours. There is so much room to grow for this zoo! They keep it clean & the animals have more than enough space to roam & feel like animals. I'm so excited to go here more, especially for the wild tots & other events.

This is a fabulous little zoo with native animals. Great to visit any time of the year.
Nice zoo
Fun as a family event
Pretty cool little place. Great layout and nice to see the local wildlife that lives in the area.
We went to our grandson birthday party at a pavilion. A very nice time
This is a monthly go-to for my family. Stroller friendly, and engaging for young children. You can be face-to-face with a Timber Rattlesnake, look a mountain lion in the eye, hear the howls of a wolf family, enjoy the perpetual performance of the otters, see a shy bobcat come out of her shell and act like a playful kitten, size up your wingspan compared to eagles, and test your jump to the marked 40’ of a mountain lion’s jump. Worth spending many weekend visits here with your family!
I saw animals
I was pleasantly surprised at the zoo's atmosphere and overall enchanting design. Featuring the local animals is a fantastic idea, and all the animals were wonderful!
Local zoo of animals that can be found in the immediate area. It's not a zoo in the sense of larger, popularly kept animals. It's a good place to learn about wildlife around here. Staff are kind and friendly. Many programs for the kids to be a part of. Great membership program that has reciprocity at other zoos around the country.
Very clean, and very easy to navigate. Loved that we could get pretty close to all the animals.
Very nice place too bad some people think they own the place and have to make it less fun for others.
Local zoo of animals that can be found in the immediate area. It's not a zoo in the sense of larger, popularly kept animals.
Fun zoo. Smaller than others I have been to, but very clean and well organized.
Nice place to go the kid's
Beautiful place to walk around and see all the animals.
Wait time
Wonderful zoo with really interesting information and very educational
Great zoo! First rate!
Not the biggest zoo but it tries hard and the animals are well cared for.

A great local zoo in the park. It might be small, but still worth a visit.
Enjoyed the zoo with our grandson. We even got the Pack tickets so we can come back several times!
pretty good for the only zoo within a 40 mile radius
Great place for the kids
Really cool zoo. It was chilly without many visitors when we visited (mid November). Lots of animals from around this part of the world I had never seen, and my 2 year old son had a great time. Expectations weren't high, but I left very impressed, glad I had gone and made some lasting memories.
Love the zoo, cheap activity. Couldn't see a couple of the animals though.
No
Thompson Park was enjoyable. I enjoyed the views of the Watertown area, the memorials and the stone structures. I didn't visit the zoo but plan to at a later date!
Cute small zoo, excellent people working there
Wonderful animals, fun for all ages
Vast beautiful area with lots of newer kid's play equipment at the top of the hill. Yet to visit the Zoo. Parents: Not stroller friendly if your level of fitness is low to long distance uphill. Shortcuts involve flights upon flights of stairs. Pokemon GO players: 4 Gyms, numerous Pokestops, and large groups visit during raids.
Really cute little zoo. The animals are happy and it's cheap. We like to walk around every now and then and is always a good time.
Wish there was more animals
Great rustic zoo
Had a great time with my grandkids!
Great park, great views. An awesome place to bring the kids for an afternoon.
This is a natural habitat zoo. Animals are sometimes hidden. Great experience over all.
Small Zoo but was clean and had good viewing opportunities of the animals.
Boo at the zoo event was alot of fun.
Fair price and just big enough and enough animals for a toddler.
We had a great birthday party at the zoo with our granddaughter , so accommodating, kids had so much fun!
Love very good
Friendly staff, and very healthy animals
It's a small zoo, but surprisingly fun for the low price. Definitely a destination when you want something to do locally. Make sure you sign up for the bear feeding!
The zoo is a great place to take children, is well maintained, and the staff is friendly. It would have been nice to know the wolverine and fisher cat were gone, instead of waiting for them to appear.
What a wonderful small zoo! Very clean, great displays of various animals. Perfect for families!
Decent zoo. Kind of small. Not much staff around.
I fell in love with the wolves. Must see!
Had a great time with my girlfriend and her 4 year old daughter. They have a pretty good assortment of animals. The bears were very active and we got to see them up close and personal when the keeper fed them peanuts. More than worth the entry fee. Avoid the gift shop though.
Weekday
Always a blast.
Good for a place to walk. Needs more exhibits.
Kids loved all the animals
Nice place for a walk
Worst zoo I have ever been to. It's should be free. You are able to see the whole zoo in less than an hour and that's taking your time.
Dont waste your time, your paying to just walk around and see the money being used on the appearance not on the animals that look miserable. 1/2 hour and your done with the whole place and that's taking your time.
Great little zoo.Took about an hour.
Great small zoo to enjoy for a few hours...there is a new large playground/park across the street as well
The displays were really nice and it was fun to see animals that either were native to NY or still live in NY. We were a little bummed that the bear and wolverine weren't out, but it may just be a seasonal thing. On that note come on the weekend in the winter. The animals are much more active in the winter than in the heat of the summer.
We always love visiting the zoo
Animal friendly zoo with an enjoyable walking path
A wonderful little gem.
Fun for the kids.
Beautiful place had fun with the family
The zoo was great
It was a good experience. They are updating things in the zoo. It’s not too big but big enough to take your kids to for about an hour or two.
This park is beautiful. With a nice zoo
Had a great time even in the rain.
Okay entertainment
Visited on
Do not expect a huge extravagant place with fancy enclosures and cotton candy stands. Instead, expect a great little zoo! I liked the "natural" habitats the animals had. Although there isn't a ton of animals, the place is laid out well and you can have a more intimate experience with your family and friends. We didn't rush through things, took our time and enjoyed the nature around us, we were there for an hour and a half. Beautiful little gift shop and cafe inside as well. If you're in the area i recommend checking it out.
It wasn't the best but wasn't the worst
Excellent place to well, play and have a picnic or bbq and the new play ground is awesome for the kids to entertain themselves and parents too.
Thank you thank you thank you for what you do for wildlife and the community. You truly ate an asset to our town
Nice place for a little walk. Most of the animals were sleeping or hiding in the shade.
Each time my family and I have visited there has been multiple animal enclosures closed down. I would say that about 30 percent of the zoo doesn't have animals in the enclosure. Also none of this information is posted anywhere to know ahead of time.
3 stars because the bears were cute and playing while we were there and that's it :/
A very nice clean, newly built kids play ground. It's public and free. Ample parking. You can enjoy good weather here with kids.
Love very good
Staff was super friendly and helpful they have awesome wagons you can pull your kids around in the animals were really cool and got to see them all.
Nice, small zoo. Wonderful place to learn about NY wildlife
Brew at the zoo was a great time. Glad I paid it a visit before leaving town after my business trip.
This place has changed for the worst. Many of the animals are alone and not taken care of as well as they should be considering this being a "Conservatory" Very shameful
Really neat place. The map could use an upgrade.
Love it. Boys had a ball looking at all the local area wild aminals.
I love this Zoo. The staff is great, the animals are well taken care of, and I feel like they deserve so much more funding than they get. Everyone works hard and I would love to see updates on their display panels for information on the different species. Very family friendly. Plenty of space. Always something going on there in terms of events. I attended a convention and it was great fun!
Very few animals available for viewing. Nice park atmosphere. Enclosures look nice.
Not too crowded, and I love the trails to get to the next exhibit
A peaceful ???? place to relax and enjoy the fun and animals
Its a decent park. The one in Syracuse is better and free for military.
The zoo was terrible. The price is way too high for the VERY little it has to offer. ????
No wait
I went and saw the displays of Christmas lights throughout the zoo. It was great.
Me and my sister visited this zoo while on a vacation in the area. It had been years since we last visited and we were taken back by how much it had declined. The entire zoo itself needed to be mowed and weeded. The bear exhibit especially was not kept up. It was overgrown with weeds, and both it’s bathing water and drinking water were dirty. The bears themselves looked clean and healthy but their habitat was awful. I felt terrible for them. It also states that there is a snowy owl for viewing. All we could find was 2 black crows. A lot of the animals such as the otter, lynx, and wolverine were unable to locate in their unkept habitat. It’s possible we missed them but unlikely all of them. We stood for several min. Along with other visitors and could not locate any of them. I’m hoping we just came at the wrong time. Maybe the maintenance crew was on vacation. Definitley not worth the money.
A great place to spend an afternoon. Cool animals and friendly staff
Had a great time even in the rain.
Clean and a nice day out for that family. Boo at the zoo is a yearly tradition for us too.
Great place to take younger kids
Nice place
Nice little zoo. Very friendly staff. Clean grounds and facility.
My kids and I love going to the park. Great place to walk around and have a picnic or just visit the zoo. Can't wait to go again.
Though I appreciate the fact that the zoo houses animals found in NY state, the fact that at least 4 exhibits were under construction. Sure, it was off season, but those 4 missing exhibits are a fair portion of the exhibits available. Animals appeared well cared for and the enclosures looked large and clean.
We just renewed our membership. The animals are so well cared for. The grounds are attractive. There are many shady trails to walk on, too. I'm glad the zoo is in our town.
It's actually nice, there are many areas to take great pictures. The animals are mostly visible and they look well taken care of.
Not enough animals to see it's more of a nature walk then a zoo
No
Watertown is lucky to have such a beautiful park!
not quite what I was expecting. it was ok, but should nbe renamed children's Discovery or something similar
This is by far the cleanest and most well kept zoo I have ever seen. I recommend visiting here if you are in the area.
Kids had lots of fun
Beautiful park, great play area, amazing water park for little kids (open 12:00-7:00 I think), cute little zoo.
Great small zoo! Staff extremely nice and helpful!
Nice little zoo with regional animals. Perfect for a morning activity. A little small but works well for young kids.
Nice little selection of native animals. We stop in to see Valentine the wolverine, the bears and the otters. Very far spaced exhibits as the animals have spacious areas. Parking is free. Disappointed that they no longer participate in the reciprocal Zoo discount program. It's a bit pricey for the variety but as long as they have native animals we'll continue to visit a few times a year.
Got there 1/2 hour before closing. They wanted full entrance fee. Will have to try again at an earlier hour. I heard that was a good zoo though.
I love the local wildlife it's wonderful. The snakes are so cute I love this place so do the kids lol even if we aren't huge fans of some of the animals we always visit anyway
Small, quiet zoo. Easy to get around.
A nice walk and teaching experience for my kids (4&6)
$6–10
Worst zoo I have ever been to. It's should be free. You are able to see the whole zoo in less than an hour and that's taking your time.
Bears and otters were quite active and fun to watch; LOTS of butterflies in the butterfly house, super friendly staff in butterfly house too :)
Beautiful experiance
Its a decent park. The one in Syracuse is better and free for military.
We got there Right before 4 Pm and we only got to see 3 animals because all the animals were already put away. So why charge us and accept customers if there’s NO animals? Literally walked around the zoo and saw one wolf, one owl and one otter. The cages/areas for the animals are small and the animals are living in overgrown, uncared for grass/bushes. The animals look so bored and depressed. The entire experience was sad and we left disappointed. I do not recommend.
Small Zoo, but perfect for small kids. Plenty of shade, a pavilion, playground and plenty of animals. The Elk and bears weren't bashful at all. They came right to the edge of their enclosure. They even have a wagon rental for little kids.
Very small not many animals but was ok
A very nice zoo. The kids enjoyed it a lot
Not as much as I thought there would be there. But for the price, not terrible.
I loved this zoo. Some people may be disappointed, expecting it to live up to the standards of other zoos. The Rosamund Gifford Zoo in Syracuse and Parc Safari in Quebec come to mind. But this place has to be appreciated on its own terms. It's quite small and the animals are indigenous -- sorry, there will be no giraffes and lions here. But they are clearly well cared for and happy animals. Placards outside the enclosures reveal how each animal came to the zoo, and many of them are rescues. The bears were considered nuisances, the mountain lion was discovered by linemen, the eagle is blind in one eye and so can't hunt. For these reasons, the zoo is more intimate than its larger counterparts, and that's what makes it special. The highlights for me were the bears -- three feisty ladies who we watched climb trees and play fight. They were very funny to watch. I also loved the otters--a father and son named Ricky and Otis. I watched one of them swim for a long time, which was enchanting. The eagles were also astonishing. Highly recommended. LOTS of kids, so if you don't like kids, go during a school day. Also, bring food or eat before you go, because they do not have a very well stocked cafe. Just nachos, popcorn, hot dogs, and pizza.
It was a fun, inexpensive way to spend the day in Watertown. My kids love national parks and zoos so they are always excited by a new one. The exhibits are on the small side, that does ensure you see most of the animals. It has a picnic and playground area by the gift shop.
We had a fantastic day . We do expect to return for a nother wonderful day in the spring.
It's a nice little zoo. Not many animals, but can be overlooked because of the closeness of the animals. You can get some really nice pictures of these animals. Waiting for summer to fully arrive so we can go back and check out the butterfly house.
Love the zoo, it's a great location for taking the kids out of the house. My family loves the otter exhibit and the black bears.
Great area and real nice peope
(Translated) Many animals, nice keepers and the entrance fee is fair (Original) Viele Tiere, nette Pfleger und der Eintritt ist Fair
Such a fantastic place! The entire park is well kept and beautiful! The grounds are so big and well planned that a family could easily spend a whole day here. The park is large and modern. The zoo is on the small side but really educational and pleasant. There is a canteen style restaurant inside the main building of the zoo. Washrooms are clean and bright. There is also a gift shop. Some of the animals at the zoo include owls, bears, elk, lynx, cougar, otters, wolves and some reptiles. Really such a worthwhile place to go!
I love it here!
Well maintained, loved to see all the native animals to the United States and NY.
Check times for special daily events. Kids touch farm not open yet. June 18th 2018 maybe? Season pass is well worth it!
We enjoy running around , visiting the bears and watching the Elk and Lynx.
It is a cute and affordable zoo. We came here with zero expectations and therefore were not disappointed. There are not many exhibits, but you can tell that each animal is cared for and loved in a way that larger zoos may not have the same capacity for. If they had the funding it would be a bustling place to go to but being quaint also has its perks. I know some people complain of the walk between exhibits, but it also means less crowding and allows for more space between guests. My husband and I had a wonderful time here, especially at the otter exhibit. My favorite part about Thompson Park Zoo was that at each animal's exhibit, they offered a tidbit on the animal offering their name, their likes and dislikes, and where they came from. I was surprised to see that many of these animals were rescued from either unsafe living conditions in the wild, or were confiscated from residential homes.
Sorry New York, but this place is a dump! Please move the animals to better places and just shut this place down!
pretty good for the only zoo within a 40 mile radius
Good place to take young children.
No wait
Boy has this place changed since I was here as a kid in the 80's.... Where is Tim the Lion? Yes, at one time they did in fact have a full grown LION in a little bitty cage... he was cool, his accommodations, not so much. But all that is gone now... like, all of it. Unrecognizable actually. This is a small zoo that is located in a historical park which sits high above the city. If you are in town, this is a place you should come check out. Make a day of it. Visit the zoo and when you are done, enjoy the surrounding park and its history. Stop by each of the several overlooks they have. Enjoy a picnic in the designated areas available. Fly a kite on the big grassy hill. Let the kids play at the splash park or down a bit on the massive playscape. Back to the zoo. It is nice. The only thing I recognize is the old historical buildings that are on the site (beautifully maintained) and some of the old concrete animal sculptures we used to play on back in the day (they are still here). The bears were active, but most everything else was laying low.... wolves, mountain lions, wolverine, snow owl, bobcat, lynx, elk, etc.... it was a hot day when I visited. There is a fee to enter. My family of four cost $34... which compared to the Detroit zoo, Toledo zoo, Jacksonville zoo is actually really cheap... but for a small town zoo, it seems a little pricey for what's on exhibit. But, that's not how I looked at it. I looked at it as if I was making a donation to support a community zoo in hopes of keeping it around for the next generation. Enjoy your visit. Comment below, let me know what you think. For a glimpse at my experience at the zoo, find my YouTube channel "Gebo's Garage". Cheers!
Very interactive for the kids! Also, offers adults only events like Brew at the Zoo. Sometimes has live music. and is often very participative within the community!
Fantastic
Too expensive for how small and little bit of animals
(Translated) Excellent place to go on family vacations (Original) Excelente lugar para ir de vacasiones en familia
Fun and reasonable but some empty exhibits
Some of the staff is great. But it's a good place to take the family for the day
I'm just going to be brutally honest - this zoo has nothing special. We've gone twice, we enjoyed seeing the bears wrestle and play, but I can't pretend like it's comparable to a zoo that's got giraffes, elephants, and things like that. This zoo mostly has things native to the state of NY, which is okay for a nature preserve but maybe not a 'zoo'. I suppose zoos can sometimes provide conservation effort, but mostly they just make me sad, this one included. I don't mean to be harsh, I'm sure the folks that work the zoo do their best.
Needs more exhibits
Great place to take younger kids
It's a little zoo with a small number of exhibits but what they have is well done. The mountain lion, bears, wolves, and bald eagle were very active. All of them came right up to the fence while we were there. Also, the zoo is right in the middle of a very nice park. We brought a picnic lunch and huge out in the park before and after the zoo.
Great place to picnic and play and see the animals
I never been there but was raise there in watertown and hope soon to see the new park
Sorry New York, but this place is a dump! Please move the animals to better places and just shut this place down!
Great zoo. Its a nice size, not crowded and you can get up close to the animals. Many of the animals are native to the Northcountry
great place to take kids. All the folks working there are people friendly and knowledgeable....
Literally saw 4 different types of animals and most employees were VERY VERY very rude.
Very small,but cute
Nice for the kids
(Translated) There are many activities planned for children. The animals are active. The staff is very attentive and prompt. (Original) Hay muchas actividades programadas para niños. Los animales están activos. El personal es muy atento y rápido.
Wonderful zoo with quite a display of animals. They all seem to be well taken care of and have plenty of space.
We enjoy running around , visiting the bears and watching the Elk and Lynx.
Very nice zoo walkable so it's not huge with a very up close encounter with the animals. I love this place! I have a four year old and she absolutely loves it here.
Cute little zoo. The otter is the best exhibit
Not bad place. Wish there was more animals.
It's a small Zoo, well kept. It focuses on animals native to its latitude and does a good job of it.
We signed up for a membership for our toddler son. He enjoys seeing the goats, otters, and bears. However, we are often unable to use our membership because of paid events held at the zoo. Also, the website states that members get discounts for events but this is not always the case.
The animals look depressed sad! Some of them were in ridiculously small areas I wanted to cry seeing them in that condition!! Very depressing
I haven’t been there In a while. I don’t hear or see animals as often as I used to but I know they’ve been doing some construction and changes going on. They have programs for people to partake in which I advise people to take advantage of.
My kids enjoyed visiting the zoo. It's a small zoo but it's good for the kids. The area is clean and the stuff is friendly.
Nice short tour, great for taking grandparents
Overall experience was good! It's not very big and has a focus on North American local wildlife with a decent variety of animals. That being said the animals were so fun to watch and the staff is so passionate about their work. We spoke with Keeper Brenda for a long time after her wolf conservation presentation and she was so nice and obviously loves her job, the animals, and knowledge of conservation efforts. Talking to her was the highlight of our trip. (We went in the winter and on a Saturday)
The Zoo was nice, it's small, but the animals are well cared for, I'd highly recommend for families. .
Great for kids, they also have an awesome playground
This is a hidden jewel in Watertown, NY! Wonderful North America zoo. Very close to ft drum. Animals are very active and good information is available. Great and helpful staff! Good for a day trip.
Nice little zoo but we made it through the entire thing in about 2 hours (with 5 adults and 5 kids)
Very nice zoo, grandkids had a good time seeing the animals, well laid out and a beautiful setting.
Really cute little zoo. The animals are happy and it's cheap. We like to walk around every now and then and is always a good time.
Meh... Good to take the kid for a walk
A peaceful ???? place to relax and enjoy the fun and animals
Great area and real nice peope
Very nice place
Very disappointing. The old petting zoo was closed fenced AND roped off. The otters were not out and other animal & reptile exhibits were empty. Definitely not as nice as the old zoo.
Looked run down. Very few animals and good portion of it was under construction.

Small variety of animals but good kept, the space for animals were below average
Its so funny
The animals are native to the region. No exotics. Elk, and bears and wolves and such. Some were rescued. But it is a nice place to take the kids.
Small zoo... good for very young children
Less than thrilled with this zoo. While I understand that not all the animals will be out when visiting, less than half were observable. The enclosures are extremely small for the animals they are housing. Some of the reptile enclosures were dirty. One of the turtles was upside down and one of our party had to find a zookeeper to let them know. Seeing this zoo makes me understand why some people hate zoos.
Cool
Awesome animals and free beer
Hard to see animals, zoo doesnt feel like its maintained very well. Saw mostly chipmunks and the occasional rear end of an unidentified mammalian. Felt like zoo was designed by a 12 year old using Zoo Tycoon. I remember this zoo being so much better when I was younger but after today I feel like I wasted time and money.
Very good for kids and very clean
Ok place. They do try hard, but they need more funding.
Cool little zoo. When we went, a lot of the areas were closed off. Decent prices. Neat gift shop.
Clean and well-kept. My five year old loved this Zoo.

Small zoo but clean and nice.
Not much too see or do couldnt see most animals the best part were the otters they we out playing. Staff was very welcoming just not the best place.
Decent zoo, I did feel like the enclosures we're not maintained well, grass was quite high in some exhibits to the point you could barely see the animals, especially the lynx enclosure.
It was really great at boo at the Zoo my kids had ALOT of fun and we will do it again next year
Beautiful park and grounds. Lots of grilling space, picnic space, and play grounds. Zoo is small with well maintained paths. We received 2adult and 2 children's tickets when we purchased a season pass. Nicely done!
The kids love this place so I love this place
Well organized exhibits of mostly native species. Not a large zoo, but worth a visit and a couple of hours' stay.
Cute small town zoo. Yes, you can visit the whole zoo in 30 mins... we find showing up around 3pm, the animals are restless and want their food. Much more interesting then. Pandora, the bobcat, will chase you if you hide in the bushes and jump out. She's our favorite.
Diverse activities and beautiful natural spaces
Looked run down. Very few animals and good portion of it was under construction.
Very cool zoo with many cool attractions to look at. Great place to go for a walk.
A great afterboon. Lovely habitats for the animals, well marked nature trails. Educational family fun.
This zoo is so small and cute. It's great for a day out with younger kids especially. Older kids will enjoy it but not as much as the little guys if they have been there before. It has a ton of local wildlife that you normally do not see on a day to day basis.
Price for adult entry
Watched the fireworks. It's a great zoo considering where it is.
Wait time
Cafe is expensive. The drink machines were over priced. Staff were nice. The animals were adorable and fun to watch.
Excellent little zoo. Friendly staff that will answer questions and point you in the right direction.
There weren't really any animals out when we arrived. We still had fun in the butterfly garden so I give it 3 stars.
Great time
Nice local zoo and very knowledgeable staff.
Fun that they specialize in New York state wildlife.
Nice place to take your kids
Good for small kids. The play area was small but good. The animals were out but seemed very stressed pacing back and forth. Prices were good to get in. The food and drinks at concessions was not good at all for the price but ok if you need a snack.
Love it when local communities value providing their citizens with access to this type of resource.
Another fire tower
Small variety of animals but good kept, the space for animals were below average
I love talking my grandchildren to the park. There's so much to do there. There's a hill that's great for flying kites, a zoo that we frequent quite often, and some brand new equipment for the kids to play on--plus, you can often find bands playing there on the weekend to sit and listen to.
Good for a place to walk. Needs more exhibits.
Smaller than anticipated. The butterfly exhibit was pretty cool.
Awesome exhibits and very clean
Absolutely beautiful place but around noon alot of the animals were sleeping or not visible but still a very cool experience. Highly recommend place to visit.
Love seeing NYS native animals and there is a nice nature trail.
Small but nice price not bad
Overall it was well kept and the staff were friendly. When we went one of the exhibits was labelled incorrect. There were no maps available as their shipment hadn't arrived yet. A lot of the animals either weren't there or were in hiding (which is no one's fault). For a state run zoo it was pretty much what you can expect.

Nice for the kids
Small zoo in a smaller town. Good day out with kids. You can get up close with the animals.
Beautiful area great zoo
This is a good family friendly place to go & learn about animals.
Cute little zoo. The otter is the best exhibit
They have an exercise trail here.
A wonderful zoo. Small but lots of exhibits. Really nice spacious habitats for animals, which is refreshing. Def recommend going for a day out.
Reservation recommended
Fun family day adventure! A great place to take your kids to see many of the animals that are native to the state of New York up close. New playground and a couple newer exhibits. Cloudy and cooler days are best to see more active animals.
Not bad place. Wish there was more animals.
????????????????
Small zoo but clean and well kept. I enjoyed my vist
Very few animals to interact with but otherwise very clean and kept nice. Friendly staff and very professional.
Great day at the Zoo. Most of the animals were out and the bears were playing. The otters were busy swimming and showing off for us. We were there around feeding time so most of the animals were active. Was slightly disappointed with the gift shop. It's not as it used to be. The price for 2 children and 1 adult was $18. Well worth it!

This zoo was very nicely mantained. Its small but fun for a afternoon activity. It only showcases New York state animals and they all seemed happy and well taken care of.
Great place for family fun!
Kind of small but nice walk. Animal housing was very natural looking. On a cool day, animal were very active. Was able to see all the animals but the ones that were removed from the closures. Found Groupon deal.
Clean and neat and animals appear healthy and content...needs more exotic animal exhibits.

A wonderful little gem.
One of the more interactive splash pads around!
Had a great time at the exhibits.
The butterfly house is such a nice exhibit. We enjoyed our time at the zoo.
Kinda boring and expensive
I thought it was a waste of my money to be honest I wanted to ask for a refund after walking around the park. Its just walking around a park with no animals.
A pretty little zoo that has nice exhibits. The animals look healthy and well taken care of. A good place to take a walk, very reasonable price.
Great place to picnic and play and see the animals
Nice Zoo for wildlife found in North America. It's filled with preditors such as wolves, bears, and wild cats; as well as herbivores like deer, cattle, and tiny gophers that your children can try to catch since they seem to just live in the park and not in a habitat. There's also an awesome lookout tower with a great view of Watertown. Good for a few hours visit or attending fun events they throw.
Been here many times, GREAT park and extremely clean. HUGE park that's really nice and the water park/splash pad that was just added is extremely nice as well. Great place for cookouts and 4th of July!
Extremely family friendly and well set up. You flow through the zoo, never in a hurry, not to miss a thing.
Needs A lot of work. All the exhibits are over grown. The birds look so sad. Instead of million plus on a pool the zoo could have used that to better the very few animals that are left to see. The lynx exhibit really smelled highly of urine. They are trying to make it look better by planting flowers and bushes everywhere. Fence posts lean A lot of caution tape around telling you not to walk here or there. It’s needs a lot to improve that’s for sure. Kids like it. In the heat though don’t expect to see many things at all active.
The animals are nice to see
Love this small hometown zoo! Does not have monkeys or elephants but the people are friendly and the zoo does a lot for the kids.
My family and I have so much fun here. We bought a family pass for the season very happy we did. Its a cute zoo my kids love it so much. ????❤????
Small but fun for an in town day out of the house.
Staff was friendly and helpful, gift shop and bathrooms were clean. Not very many animals, several exhibits were under construction simultaneously. Nice a lunchtime walk, but you'll struggle to spend a whole afternoon here until more of the work is done.
Overalla nice place to have a picnic or time with the family there are nice views of the town from the hill top with picnic tables near by and a park with lots of things for the kids. There are trails you can walk your dog and you might encounter deer and other wildlife.
I never been there but was raise there in watertown and hope soon to see the new park
Kids had lots of fun
Love the animals at this location. As an animal lover, I would like to see the Couger and Lynx enclosures to be increased in size, because the current ones see a bit small
It's ok
Needs upgrades and more animals. Price to get in in outrageous for what they have to show
Too expensive for how small and little bit of animals
Love to volunteer
It's a small Zoo, well kept. It focuses on animals native to its latitude and does a good job of it.
Some of the animals were not visible
Beautiful and well maintained zoo, it’s small in area so it won’t take long to cover the zoo. The butterfly house was especially good. Definitely recommend this place.
Barely any animals , half of it "closed for construction " It is a joke. They shouldn't be charging people to walk around. We literally saw a wolf, two otters, three black bears, an eagle, 5 butterflies, and a mountain lion. Don't waste your money.
Great chance to see a bear that doesn't want to knock your trash can over at 2 am.
A nice place to have a picnic in the park.
Very good for kids and very clean
Neat
Went there on a Monday 4 in afternoon. They closed at 5 but my granddaughter wanted to go. Couldn't go into the butterfly house, that was locked. The otters were already put away. Very disappointed. Just caught the wolf as they were putting it inside. I asked about paying a discount price because of the time but was told they couldn't do that.
Nice small zoo exhibit. Wish they had more information about the animals and their habitats. Factors that impact them or endanger them. Unfortunately, there is not sufficient space for pack animals to have a few more members. . . Eg. The wolf exhibit.
Loved it
When I went it was storming, and there was snow everywhere. Most animals were inside and I was unable to see them, but I can't fault the zoo for that. It's a collection of local animals, and for the price (6$) I really think it's a great value even for what little I saw. I was most excited to see the Wolverine, but unfortunately he didn't come out. I feel bad that I can't full review the place as I know Covid certainly takes away from the attraction. There was an inside reptile and owl house though, and that was really interesting to see. I'll probably come visit again when the animals are more active. The otters were the favorite of this trip because they love attention.
It was the worse $21.00 my boyfriend and I spent. It literally took 15 minutes to walk the whole thing. Looks like they are more into spending money on the buildings instead of the animals or even bringing more animals to the area. Not recommended at all
It is a cute and affordable zoo.
Nice little zoo
This is a small zoo but very beautiful. The kids and I enjoyed walking around and seeing all the animals. It's a fun afternoon when your looking to do something with your family.
My son loves this place
A very nice little zoo. Found a Groupon that came to $5/person. Spent about an hour walking around. Might have been less, but lots of the animals were up and about. Spent a good 10 minutes just watching the otters swim around. Specializes in indigenous animals. Decent amount of shady spots too. Great for a weekend activity.
Love the zoo
Such a wonderful zoo. Staff is friendly and the price is wonderful.
Great memories are made at this zoo. You must stop by if you are in Watertown
Nice zoo with roomy exhibits for the animals
Its so funny
Super fun day!!!
Loved it
Beautiful park with great walking trails.
Very nice place
Love it!!!! Beautiful and well maintained

Local zoo is a good small little zoo for families to go and enjoy upstate NY
Nice clean environment
Wish there was more to see. But loved the animals. Thank you.
We had a great time there. My only suggestion is do not go hungry. Both times we have gone with our family the snack area was not operating. There are vending machines, at prices expected for a zoo.
Nice local Zoo that showcases Wildlife local to the area.
We may have gone too early in the season but will give it another go. Didn't realise it was all native animals but still overall enjoyed our visit.
We just did the boo at the zoo. So very awesome
Very little but nice
Great place to bring children. Animals well cared for and visible but still protected from public. No commercialism which we loved. Lots if picnic places.
I live the ????
Wonderful zoo and nice staff <3
Really cool place to visit.
I was not impressed.
My son loves this place
Not just a zoo but here at Thompson park there are both a large playground and public pool as well as slip and slide area great for kids and people of all ages to come cool off.
Absolutely beautiful. It's best in the winter when the animals are active and the crowds are miniscule. The price is cheap and it's totally worth going, even if it's your hundredth time. They feature local wildlife, most of which are rescued from injury. It's lovely knowing that none of the animals are carted in from halfway around the world and that the zoo saved their lives, quite literally. I recommend that you go and then go back. Take your out of town friends.
What a surprise to see all of these animals in October. Great staff.
Clean, beautiful walking areas, well kept grounds and animal areas. informative information about animals. A showcase of our area.
Fun that they specialize in New York state wildlife.
It was a beautiful zoo, very well kept and the animals seemed very comfortable and happy. The staff was super informative and kind. Definitely a visit to remember
Great place for family fun.
Nice little outdoor adventure.
Nice place for a little walk. Most of the animals were sleeping or hiding in the shade.
Really great day for myself, wife and my little boy! Would highly recommend to all :)
Very Lively and beautiful
Great place for children and adults.
What a great zoo, animals look healthy and well taken care of. The grounds were extremely clean.. Perfect for young families and seniors
Cool little zoo worth the trip
Had a great time with my grandkids!
Excellent Zoo & service. Keep up the great work guys!
It is great for family fun days
Great zoo for small town many possibilities to grow
Beautiful zoo with some great exhibits
Ok for kids ,it's a small zoo .
Amazing place to visit especially is you have younger children. Some of it was under construction when my family went but was still amazing. There's lots of trails, animals, food and indoors activities to do.
The zoo shares what animals can be found in the local woodland area. It's calm and quiet but not a lot of animals.
9 animals and half of them you couldn't see. Never again
Very cute little place .... all of the animals were super interactive with us came right up to the fences
There weren't a lot of animals, but we did enjoy the ones that we saw. The local zoo where we live in Rochester has a lot more animals, but the cages and exhibits have a lot less room for the animals. It usually is quite depressing when we go. The enclosures at this zoo were huge and we liked how they were set up. The animals were pretty close to us and even though it was a very hot day, there wasn't a lot of walking to get to each exhibit. We would definitely go here again, a beautiful zoo.
I went there and they only had like 4 animals and they weren't even active. I've never been such a small zoo before. I didn't even stay 30 mins. That's how quick it takes to look at all the animals. I understand that some animals can't stand the cold but it shouldn't be like that.
Beautiful park! Off leash dogs with owners who disobey leaah laws and lack of enforcement of leash laws can be problematic.
Great place for the family. Excellent zoo. A real gem at Thompson Park
A very pleasant, small zoo.
Not sure
Beautiful little zoo, friendly staff and cute native animals
Missing animals In some of the exhibits
Wonderful place to go hiking, jogging, walking your dog, playing with the kids or just alone. Plenty of picnic tables and grills to have a cookout with friends and family don't forget to bring food. You never know what you'll see. You might even find a colored rock or two. There's a Beautiful view of the city from the top of the hill. Don't forget to visit the zoo while you're there.
Wait time
Nice place
Very nice and well maintained zoo
Not very big I think price a little high for what's there nice place though
Fun date! Love the wolves!
Great little zoo, wheelchair accessible with just enough things to see to entertain for a morning trip. We went on a Sunday morning and practically had it to ourselves. This is local wildlife. No giraffes, elephants, etc. But you'll get to see wolves, owls, bobcats, and bears.
The NYS Zoo at Thompson Park is an amazing experience into native wildlife of New York. If you haven't been, you must go.
Very few animals at this zoo but we enjoyed what was there
Was q good experience, but butterfly house was closed due to weather
Not super big bit the kids loved it and it was only $9 per adult.
We had a fantastic day . We do expect to return for a nother wonderful day in the spring.
Great place to take the family. Plan for about 2 to 3 hours. Otters are always a delight and willing to put on a show for their spectators. 10 out of 10 would come again.
Great place for kids
Not very many animals and is located in an odd location....about 20 mins outside of Watertown...however, the surrounding parks are nice with a great view
No animals☹️
Great price, for an outstanding time! Lots of fun, small Zoo but worth every cent paid. Not to mention the splash park and park walking distance across from the Zoo!
Needs work
Have many found memories here too! Many more to be made, lots of fun for the whole family!
Very cool zoo with many cool attractions to look at. Great place to go for a walk.
it's my first time visiting a zoo and I love it
For a little local zoo, was a pretty great time walking around. Glad to see the animals were actually active, compared to bigger zoos.
Such a great place to spend the day with the kids... we played, we hiked, we checked out the animals... loved it!!
Very nice zoo to see local animals.
Beware of false advertising on prices! Today I brought all my children and went to the zoo for “boo fest”, unfortunately we had to leave due to them wanting to charge my 2 year old and 8 month old full price and with all of it added up, it was going to be too much for my already struggling family. They claimed that the price was that way due to a fundraiser, which I would’ve been fine with taking away the 20% military discount (which we would get on a normal day but to also charge infants, I could not do). Looking now, their site says kids under 3 are ‘always’ free but I would make sure so you don’t have to dress your kids and babies up and go all the way there to be charged an arm and a leg to get inside. My kids were pretty disappointed we couldn’t trick or treat or see animals. Thank you for the experience, I’ll keep it in mind for next time (if there is a next time)!
Price for adult entry
Really cool place to visit.
I visited here when I was a child , it is nothing now like it was then its worth giving a new look at !
