Would have liked to spend more time but had to leave before the mosquitos ???? carried us away if planning a trip bring some heavy duty mosquito spray!!!! (Maybe the zoo should try fogging? At least the parking lot so you do t bring the pest home with you)
High ticket price. Poor watch over animals. Visited zoo twice and both times my family and I have had to tell random kids not to flash red lasers at the eagle’s eyes and not to pin the peacocks down to pluck a feather. Parents are to blame mostly but the zoo should have more staff to help prevent these occurrences.
One of the best places in town to spend quality time with your family! Well maintained zoo, while it's not huge it still has variety of animals and birds. Pricing is also very reasonable. $7 for Ingham County residents ($4 starting Nov).
We all love this zoo! My kids love the farmyard area, penguins, the owls, and the rhinos (especially the baby). We can't wait for the amphibian house to open up again, it is always a big hit as well!
Great little day trip. Well priced and maintained. Lots of smashed pennie spots

I have been going to this zoo since I was a small child, so over 40 years. I have seen it grow and evolve and I couldn't be more proud of them!! I wish this year, being their 100th year, was not affected by Covid, especially with baby Jaali, they would be bustling! I understand why the buildings are not open, but I do miss going inside for close ups of the big cats and seeing the birds and snakes and cotton topped tamarins! Hopefully next year! I went today to see Jaali and his parents before it gets too cold for them. It might not be a big zoo, but it is a good afternoon trip, solo or with family. Staff are always pleasant and love to answer any questions you might have about an animal.
First visit to this beautiful zoo. Well kept and wonderful staff made this a wonderful experience.

Very cute zoo. Playground for kids and lots to look at. Active animals and very reasonable prices make this a destination to return to. I enjoyed it very much. Great half day zoo!

We love visiting Potter park all year! Great exhibits and staff! It’s small enough that it’s manageable for kids! They plan and host great family, kid, and adult events!
Even though there is a pandemic, all the staff were right on top of things. Still sweet and very helpful.
Reserved tickets for 4 pm for the Halloween trick or treat. This in hindsight was too late as they were already taking apart the bounce house and picking up some candy stations. Lesson learned, don't reserve the latest available ticket time. At least we got cider and donuts, but barely.

We never found the lemurs to my son's disappointment. However, the kids classes are very informative. We weren't able to see everything because of cool weather but a good sized zoo for little kids with short attention spans. The kids especially liked the otters and the Lion's performance. (He gave a very loud growl at lunch time) impressed with their mission to reduce plastic waste as well. Maybe next time more animals will be out.
This zoo was fun for the most part, but that quickly went downhill when we walked through to the penguin exhibit and found a questionable looking penguin laying face down. We were concerned, so we searched for a worker to check on said penguin, and when we finally found someone, he went into the enclosure to check. This penguin sadly had passed away and was stiffened by time someone (us) pointed this out to them. I understand heat can be damaging for them, but if they had an indoor enclosure, this could have been avoided, and he had clearly been there for a while without being checked on, despite it being a 90 degree day. Very sad. Overall, the animals looked exhausted (could be from heat) and some in rather rough conditions. The peacocks were all missing feathers and their current feathers were broken and dangling. Of course I do not know very much about them, and perhaps they were in the process of losing old feathers for new ones? Or something of the sorts. The zoo overall was a fun experience until we reached the penguin exhibit. Very sad, very disappointing.
It's a great place to bring your kids and we've come again and again and still find it entertaining. My only negative is if you want to eat, don't get something the wasps would want or else it makes for a very unfortunate lunch. The drinks don't have lids either, so you're better off with something bottled. Or better, bring your own as there are plenty picnic tables at multiple parts of the zoo. The animals are great and you can get a close up view most of the time. They also have zookeepers talk at some of the exhibits and that's a fun way to learn something new. And fun activities for the kids like a train ride, pony ride, feeding birds, etc.
I absolutely love the exotic animals here, we'll likely never see these creatures outside of the zoo.
Decent little zoo. Love the Meerkats, Lions, Owls, and Red Pandas. Other near animals to see like monkeys, penguins, rhinos, and more.
$11–15
Hidden gem in Lansing! This is a nice little zoo with a fairly intuitive layout. Excellent for taking a stroll with the family & very affordable! If you are looking for a huge zoo - this is not your place but the habitats are top notch and there is a great deal fornthe kids to enjoy!
It was an outing to see the lights.. they could have had more! With a few lights to help you see the animals.

Didnt get to see everything due to the covid, but still seen some pretty cool animals today, and my granddaughter had a BLAST
Zoo is nice and clean. Very interesting place in Lansing for family. There is a canteen so don't worry about hunger.
Fall zootacular Was fun but could have been better especially since they were selling 10 tickets an only had 3 1 ticket things for them to do felt like false advertisement you know.
$6–10
Very disappointed that we drove an hour to visit only to be decimated by mosquitoes. Staff was okay. They were strict about a mask mandate (gift shop) which was fine just seemed odd since no other businesses were mandated in michigan. Never going back. Wasn't much to see and out of 4 zoos that my family has visited this was also the most expensive to visit
Much better than when I was a kid. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The animals are much closer than other zoos, giving you a personal connection. The layout is a little strange but the grounds are looking really great.

We went as soon as they open to avoid a crowd. Kids don't understand social distance and parents may not make them adhere. Lots of one way signs and limit to one family per area to view. Once you go through you can go around again to catch anything you might have missed. Bring water, drinking fountains are closed. Wear comfortable shoes. Terrain is not always level so careful walking. Lots of animals to see.
It was a perfect amount of time. We spent about an hour and a half walking around and exploring. Definitely considering the annual pass as it can be used at a variety of zoos across the country. We will definitely be back. Parking for non residents is $5. The fees are not bad at all and good prices were not to bad either.
The zoo was a little disappointing not much to see. No tigers no monkeys. Very sad atmosphere. Took my grand daughter for her first zoo visit I was not impressed but It will make a good memory for us.
The Ice Safari they had on 2-12 (also 2-13, and the weekend of 2-19/2-20) was AMAZING and so fun!! They had hot cocoa available and it was amazing to see how active the animals are during the winter! My son adored the tiger and lion, and the otters put on a heck of a show!
Potter Park Zoo is a fun, educational place to bring the kids. We loved the beautiful peacocks who seemed to be everywhere!
Very well maintained zoo, kids are super excited. Also they have tiny windows to get a closer view of animals. Staffs are really best ever. They're well informed and always answering all the doubts. Lots of animals, specially peafowls are everywhere. My baby loved this place. Will visit again for sure.

Really nice zoo for the size. Kids had tons of fun!
My family had a great experience here. Admission is reasonable and there are plenty of interesting animals to see!
We had a great time at the zoo today. We were there about 3.5 hours. We walked it then went back around to see if we could catch the animals doing different things. I also appreciated that Mom's were free from mother's day. What a great way to get family's out and about.

Absolutely amazing!!!! The animals are so happy. I love this place!!!
You can tell they are trying to make some updates. And for a Zoo run by the city it's ok. Took us about 1.5 hours with an infant in a stroller.
We enjoyed our time at this zoo, as it was our first time. This zoo has so much potential, I wish I could have seen it in it's prime. If there was a private donor that would donate money, so this zoo could be back to it's glory days that would be awesome! The kids really enjoyed the penguin exhibit outside.
We are nice place to visit with the kids and family nice stuff and fun camel ride for $6

Great cheap getaway for the kids. Most the animals were out and active and the staff were nice and full of information. The bird building and the camel ride were the 7 yr Olds favorite part of the day.
We had a blast here! All the animals were out. Social distancing guidelines were in place and it was easy to navigate through which made it stress-free!
We went with our grandsons for the holiday lights, ages 3 and 1. They had a very nice display with a clear path to follow. We did get to see a few of the animals too. They boys both received goody bags too, which extended the fun to decorate the cookie and ornament.
A nice little right outside Lancing. Just big enough for a morning of enjoyment.

Nice small community zoo. Good place to take children under nine. No elephants or bears. There are rhinos and penguins. A pleasant place for a picnic.
This small zoo was affordable and super disability and sensory friendly! From the get go there is a welcome sign in multiple languages. Then signage about sensory kits available. At the main entrance they have a braille and tactile map for those who read tactile communication. Throughout the zoo there are multiple quiet zones to decompress out of the main areas. They also have signage when they recommend headphones for those with sensory kits. The local Lions Club sponsored an incredible sensory garden—complete with a waterfall (sounds) and herbs you can touch, smell, and taste! All throughout the garden you can see different sculptures that you can touch and flowers and plants. The interactive aviary is right neighboring and I assume (??) those with better hearing than mine can hear all the birds chattering away ????. Herbs such as mint, spearmint, oregano, rosemary, barbecue rosemary, and hot and spicy oregano were a few of the herbs to check out. ???? Hands down, great experience!!!! ????????????????????
Great place to spend an afternoon. Very reasonable COVID restrictions. Great path setup to see all exhibits without having to double back or cross previous traffic. Excellent all around. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
$11–15
It was hot and crowded on the particular day we visited. Most animals were hiding and sleeping because of the heat and several of the exhibits were closed for maintenance or cleaning. Small zoo so good for small kids who tire quickly. Beware of agressive soccer mom's!
Was a great time, and love seeing the animals. Our friend Brian took my husband and myself there for a anniversary gift
It was fun as a family. Some of the exhibits were closed which was a bummer and we should of gotten some money off of the tickets. Park staff was very friendly. The food was pretty good. Overall it was pretty enjoyable.
This is fun little zoo! We went Friday afternoon and there was hardly anyone there which was nice! I suggest bringing bug spray bc of the mosquitos.
I love the Potter park zoo. We went in November no one was there so we had the whole park to ourselves. Some of the animals were put away However we still had a fun time.

We had a nice couple hours strolling around this smallish zoo. The staff was super nice and informative. Saw a couple rehabilitated bald eagles, otters, rhino, and a really weird looking red panda (!), among many other animals like this peacock that followed us around the park. I would recommend getting the family annual membership like we did for $80, you will get admission for your visit plus reciprocal admissions and discounts to other zoos around the country.
Great zoo. Not to overwhelming for kids and seniors. Just right for a few hours adventures
The zoo's October festival was awesome The one way directional signs on the floor worked exactly as advertised!
love this zoo, we were here easter sunday had a good time but alot of empty exhibits and reptile House was closed!! would love to see every spot filled and more food and drink options. and should not be a charged for parking on top of zoo fee.
You could not go in any of the buildings to see animals because of the restrictions of the mandates put on Michigan for the pandemic by the governor... the price for admission was still the regular rate. There is a resident fee and a higher fee if you do not live in Lansing for admission cost. 60+ in age gets a discounted rate. The zoo is set up for one way traffic, 6ft distancing, mandatory mask wearing in most areas. Some exhibits even have signs stating only one family household can be in the area at a time. There were several animal exhibits closed, not sure if they no longer had that animal or what. There is a $5 parking fee additional to the admission fee. Plenty of parking space. Wheelchair accessible. The zoo has a fabulous open green area to enjoy with mature trees.
Oh to be a kid again... The zoo was really good. You could tell they had recently done work and improvements on multiple exhibits, and more were underway. For our city of Lansing, it is a great way to enjoy some unique animals and the outdoors. The lions and the black headed spider monkeys put on great shows while we were there too. Thank you PPZ!

Animals looked bored not much movement at all but none the less was an amazing first time experience for our son
Awesome little zoo thtat has some big zoo exhibits. Everything is layed out nicely. In season, there is a train for the little ones to ride. Recently, they have added a Giant Anteater to their collection. Not an animal you get a chance to see very often. All in all, it is our favorite Michigan zoo.
I went there on Tuesday, which is Bone Day. So the animals were excited to receive their weekly bone treats. Social distancing signs and mask signs were up. Friendly staff from entrance to exit. Small zoo, but loved the light foot traffic. Peacocks roam freely and its beautiful during the fall. Parking fee: $3 for same county residents, $5 for all others. Plus entrance fee unless you have a zoo card. Enjoy!
Love this place. We come every year. Animals are always visible
Got to see a bunch of animals. Most of them were pretty active. Some were hiding in the shade but I can't blame them because it was really hot that day. Excellent experience, will definitely take the kiddo back again!
Small family friendly zoo with some big animals. There a great selection of animals from amphibians to tigers a great place. We went for the lights in December awesome experience.

The staff was friendly, prices were reasonable and everything was nice and clean. Although things were closed due to COVID and winter there was still plenty to see to spend about 90 minutes at the zoo. I'll definitely be back in the summer.
The animals seemed happy and well taken care of. There are lots of posters with fun facts about the animals. Camel rides are 7$ per person but don't get the photo. It was blurry. The petting zoo area has chickens and goats, all well trained and friendly. For a smaller zoo it was a lot of fun.
Weekday
Great little zoo! Definitely something you can go to without spending a whole day, with little ones you could probably spend about a half a day with all that there is to offer! Good mix of animals, clean facility and helpful polite staff! We will be back!
Visited during the Winter Lights and while most of the outdoor animals were inside for the season, it was still a nice walk through the Zoo. The inside exhibit buildings were open to stop and warm up while seeing more animals.
This is a small zoo,but very well laid out. Saw several animals here,.compared to others that were much bigger and supposed to have more. Zoo staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Very clean.
Nice little zoo. But there was a young man at the gift shop that wasn't wearing his mask properly and gave my family a difficult time about it. If this zoo wants us patrons to wear masks inside. The young employees need to wear their masks properly as well.
I love the winter wonderland lights every year. I've been going since I was a kid and this year even though we live an hour away I took my son to see them. it was tons of fun and the staff always help.
Great little zoo, especially if you have younger children. So much to see but not too much walking around.
Went on a class trip to the zoo with Grandaughters class from Holt. We broke into small groups and did a group project on specific animals. We had zoo employees show us the wolf exhibit with class room discussion afterwards. Also a presentation with an owl. The Zoo employees were knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Thanks to the Zoo for waving the entry and parking fee. The Zoo was clean and appeared to be well maintained.

The family had a great time at this zoo, we really enjoyed seeing all the animals and knowing that slot of them get rehabilitated and put back into nature. What a blessing ????
We always have a great time at the Potter Park Zoo. There's just enough for an afternoon visit without the need to spend the entire day there, and the price is on point for what you get to see.
Great little zoo. Residents get on for $7 right now. It is very easy to see everything in a couple of hours. Staff was great and friendly. They have a couple of places to purchase food and drinks. They also do nights at the zoo for adults, and you can drink beer there for those events.

My family was highly disappointed. The ticket prices were ridiculous for what we were able to see. We were only able to view some birds and monkeys. No other animals were out. Waste of money. I've been going for years and this was the worse.

I truly had a wonderful time with my friends and family as I participated in viewing all of God's majestic creatures at the Potter Park Zoo however I am left remiss and slightly conflicted in that they had such small spaces and it seems a shame that they are so confined I know that the zoo takes very good care of them that I have no doubt . However I could not help but feel the sadness in some of the animals eyes as I looked at their lonely and empty confined existence .Nevertheless I have entailed many beautiful photos of these striking animals and creatures and I hope everyone enjoys the pictures in which I've taken at Potter Park Zoo today. Also don't forget to check out the walk-in bird aviary where you can feed the birds they actually land on your arm and on a feeding stick if your purchase them it is an experience that you will never forget.

Honestly, the zoo itself is okay. On the smaller side, but it's nice. The problem is there isn't anywhere to get anything to drink in the off season. Vending machines are turned off too. Even the gift shop is closed. Albino peacocks were pretty
For a small zoo this was wonderful. All animals are well taken care of. You are greeted first by the bald eagles! From there all exhibits are natural and the animals look comfortable. The lion put on a great show for us. Glad I spent time there with my daughters family!

Our favorite zoo. This isn't as spread out as Detroit zoo, which is also a great zoo, but potter park is more feasible with small kids or grumpy teenagers. The pass isn't extremely expensive in comparison & during the pandemic it was one of the few places that still seemed normal when things were allowed to reopen. The red pandas are always so adorable, the kids love the zoo lights & the activities though out the year. We love the ability to spend the whole day, or just 15 min & still feel like it was worth it.

Great small zoo for kids and for adults that need to get out and exercise????
Im not a huge fan of going to the zoo in general but we won a membership at a raffle and this was our first visit. This is inside of a local park and you have to pay to park, it was $5 for out of county residents, not unreasonable. The zoo was not crowded on a Tuesday but it had rained that morning. Upon arrival the man in the ticket booth warned us that the mosquitoes were bad and they were really horrible. Be sure to take repellant if you go in the summer months. The zoo was nice overall. It's small, about a 4 mile walk to see everything. There are pony rides (2 ponies on this day) but they cost additional to ride them (I think it was $3 but it may have been $5). Also camel rides ($5) and a bungee jump ride that was $7. There is also a tiny train for little kids to ride. It doesn't have a track, just goes in a small oval. There is a snack bar in the middle of the zoo that had options for lunch, ice cream, slushes and other snacks. Most of the animals were lethargic but most of the viewing areas were close so you could see them. We did not see moose or otters, they were hiding. They have 3 eagles, otters, barnyard animals/hands on goat area, red pandas, camels, bongos, tigers. Lions, lemurs, rhinos, moose, and a reptile/bird/amphibian house. There were three or four exhibits being renovated or closed. There is a small gift shop plus another snack bar at the front entrance. Overall it was a nice walk, despite the mosquitoes. I wouldnt buy a membership since it's over an hour drive for us. I think it's a good zoo to take little kids because it's not as overwhelming as the bigger zoos and they basically have everything.

The Christmas lights show was nice, but I remember it being more fun as a kid. Santa was there and Mrs Clause was nice enough to take a photo with my cell phone instead of trying to sell me a picture for a fortune, so that was nice. Very limited in the animals that you can see (as it is dark and many are inside), but non the less it was a good time and inexpensive. $6 or $7 for adults and $5 or $6 for kids.
Beautiful place, animals are generally very active. W/COVID it's not as it used to be but still great place.

What a wonderful experience! The lights were amazing and we're amazing and the animals were even fairly active. They also had their food service open!
Great smallish zoo. Almost all the animals could be viewed. We were disappointed that the Down Under bird exhibit wasn't open until 2 but it wasn't posted on the website and even the signs at the exhibit said open at 10 am.

Love the spray stations to help keep cool throughout the park. Too hot most animals weren't moving around much. Even warm animals like kangroos. Seen the lions trying to mate lol. He was shot down, female was not having it then.
I love this zoo for very young zoo goers. It's not so big that everyone is overwhelmed at the end. The petting zoo has the most serene goats. The food was pretty good as zoo food goes. I recommend the chicken strips with ranch.
Potter Park Zoo is amazing in its conservation efforts. The animals do not appear to be sedated like at other zoo. The only drawback is that the Zoo is small, but it is still a great place to spend the afternoon.
Great little zoo. Took my grandson while looking for something to do in Lansing and had a blast. Lots to see and do for little money. So glad we went!

This is a great place to visit, especially with young kids. The zoo is not huge, which makes actually seeing all of it much easier than other places. It is also not quite as expensive. There are a lot of things to see and in recent years, there have been a fair amount of updates. We love the zoo!
best go to as a family day trip! Unique collection of animals large and small! We love it there! The habitats are lovely, and the animals all seem very well cared for.
For being such a small zoo Potter Park is an amazing place for all ages. Surrounded entirely by state parkland the zoo itself feels more wild. The exhibits are well built and great care and attention is payed to keeping the animals comfortable and happy. Big charismatic animals like lions, tigers, wolves, and even a rhino are constant mainstays at this zoo. Additionally, more exotic animals are featured and this lineup changes via an inter-zoo exchange program. The animals are all either born in captivity or were wild but injured, rehabilitated, and unable to return to the wild. Overall Potter Park is a beautiful and humane zoo featuring many children's outreach programs.
Great zoo for the city of Lansing. All the animals look healthy and happy. I'm glad they are slowly but surely updating the exhibits and facilities! A great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

Such a beautiful zoo. You're able to see all the animals closely and it's very walkable with younger children. Great place to visit!
Love this place! Keep coming out and supporting your local zoo! Take the grandkids here often!
Beautiful! I was surprised by their social distancing guidelines. They are taking all the precautions to keep us safe and enjoy our visit to the zoo
There are so many animals there my favorite animal is the wolf I love potter park zoo ????????
Great experience but a lot of the animals do not have cage mates. The wolf looked so incredibly lonely, as did the Meerkat, who was desperate for any attention. Please get these animals cage mates. They need them.
Cute little zoo, would be great for small kids who can't/won't want to walk as much. Love the idea of a picnic at the zoo!
We have been members here for the past decade. I love all of the upgrades that they have done throughout the years. I love that even during the winter the zoo is a fun place to visit. In fact, some of the animals are more active during the colder months! I am looking forward to the ice sculpture safari this upcoming weekend. The newborn twin cotton-top tamarins are adorable, and the otters are always a delight to see.

Not a giant zoo but still big enough to spend a few hours at. Nice variety of animals, some big ones too, rhinoceros, tiger, lion, camel. Ponie rides for kids too. The "train" is the only disappointing thing there. It's not really a train, as it's not on tracks and it just goes around a tiny circle a few times. But that doesn't ruin the experience. Theres a couple concession areas and picnic areas so you can buy or bring your own food.
Clean area, park and clean zoo. It was nice that there were sprayers set up around the zoo to keep walkers comfortable on the hot days. I like that you had signs up and encouraged mask wearing when in certain areas, though not everyone followed the rules! Wonderful variety of animals . It was one of best trips to this zoo
Was a very fun place. Loved all the animals and the exhibits were amazing. Defiantly would go again. Low prices makes it great for smell group or a large group.
Great zoo. Not super busy stoller and mom friendly. Great price and super cool animals. Black Rino vs watermelon I'm taking the rino every time.
It was a good time for the kids but the reason im only giving 2 stars is because our 5 year old was kind of disappointed when we found out all the inside exhibits were still closed but we still get charged full price. She just wanted to see the reptiles. Lol
A wonderful zoo, just the right size to enjoy, without getting too tired.
Kids love it, I grew up going here to see animals. It has changed a lot in the last several decades but you wouldn't notice it if you didn't know about it.
My child enjoyed it here and we did as well. We were able to see some animals moving around and even get up close and personal with others. This isn't the biggest in both area size or variety but for Lansing, it is decently proportionate. They also have a playground before you enter that children can go play on before or after. 4 out of 5
Love this zoo! It's on the smaller side - took us about an hour to get through. They're doing an amazing job with social distancing, mask wearing, etc. Perfect morning outing for us!
Perfect zoo for children under 5. Not so much walking and lots of shade.
Very nice zoo. Clean well maintained. Price was very good. They had a special event going on. The price was only 2 dollars a person. No charge for parking. Thought the place would be wall to wall people. It wasn't really that crowded. Love the ???? and elk exhibits
We love potter park zoo! Looking forward to our next visit
Beautiful sunny 50+ degree day. Very few animals were out to see. However it was $4 to get in so I guess you get what you pay for :)

Great place! Up really close to animals is amazing! Nice walking zoo. Laid out well too!
Love that it's a smaller zoo, makes it easy to see everything and go back to an exhibit if you'd like and not have to travel 30 min lol. I do suggest packing a lunch/snacks (the snack bar is limited).
had a great time at the zoo, the gift shop was great & so were the animals. just wish the indoor exhibits were open ???? overall we all had a great time! definitely recommend checking out this zoo
Smaller zoo then the others we have visited in MI. Can do the whole thing in less than 3 hours. Use bug spray or prepare to be eaten alive.
This place was so fun. My niece loved it. They have great animals and great enclosures. We got the season pass and we cant wait to go back
Awesome zoo! The animals are happy and healthy. Reservations we're not required and precautions were in place for COVID; very clean and organized. We had a great visit!
This zoo is a nice size. It was very affordable and they had animals that I never seen at any zoo in IL. For example, they had a snow leopard and peacocks walking around so freely. I loved that this zoo is open all year round.
Super cute and fun for such a small zoo! I had a great time, and it's clean.
My family members and I went there yesterday on Labor Day Sunday and I absolutely loved that place, along with one of my favorite zoos, aquariums, farms and other places that I've been before.
Really nice little zoo. I had a great day and learned about some very interesting animals.
We had a great Sunday Funday! Love that we can get in and see everything in 2-3 leisurely hours. Shout out to the DeWitt Public Library for offering the Family Pass to check it out free for a week! ????????
Nice local zoo with fun activities for all ages throughout the year. The penguins and rhino's are our favorite. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable!
Wow it is amazing at the zoo I truly had a great time there.
Wonderful zoo, lots of details about all of the animals in the exhibits and friendly staff.
Granted there was nobody there so we had the zoo pretty much to ourselves ???? I believe it was only because it was 15 degrees outside ???? but it was awesome first time there and will go back ???? but hopefully it will be warmer next time ????

I love this zoo, they do a really great job, and I’m proud to have them in Lansing. Truly worth a visit!
The kids had so much fun and loved everything. They kept getting excited at every turn. Great layout, fun for the whole family!
I didn't think I would get to see one of the most endangered species on the planet when it comes to big cats. The ticket prices were very low, and I would have paid twice twice amount to just see this beautiful specimen. For being a much smaller zoo, kudos in participating with the conservation program, community inclusion with business partners and educational programs. Well worth the cold weather as this is the best weather for the magnificent snow leopard to bask outside in all its glory.
Animals seem content, nice extra activities like farm, camel rides, ponies ECT. and SUPER budget friendly! My whole family of 5 went for$12.00 on off season day's.
$6–10

We had our family reunion hee. It was great. The zoo staff who assisted us in reserving a location at the park and planning a guided tour of the zoo were very professional and excellent. In fact our tour guide, who is a zoo volunteer was so knowledgeable and patient with our large group. It was a great event and I would certainly plan to do this again. Thank you Potter Park Zoo staff and personnel.

We had a great time visiting this zoo. The otters are always a favorite. Seeing the female lion up close was a special treat. Thank you to the employees for making this a great experience.
Such an adorable zoo!! Small enough to take the little one, but just large enough to enjoy the day.
Nice park clean Friendly people to help you good for kids. Not to big easy to go through

We all Love going there. My girls are 7 and 9 now, we have been going since they were born and still Love it!
This place is fine for young kids, they won't know any better, but as an adult that loves animals, it's pretty disappointing nowadays. Lots of closed exhibits, not a lot of animals compared to other zoos in Michigan. An influx of money is desperately needed.
Had an awesome time visiting this zoo! It was almost better in the winter with the super close up view of the big cats and not many visitors to share the zoo with, plus many animals were extremely active!
We love this zoo...very small but perfect for a few hour family visit. Much needed family time out of the house before we go covid19 crazy
Wasnt very big for the price you pay to get in. Badgered to get a covid shot as you walk in. Enclosures are small for such large animals. Was sad to see the Rhino so stresses out. The Meerkats had no dirt only cement enclosure. Animals have bare minimum inside enclosures. Needless to say we left after 15mins.
Nice zoo. Not too expensive, plenty of animals to see. And they have camel rides.
A Great place to take the family, friends for a picnic and to see all the animals at the Zoo ????
I really loved spending time at the zoo with my loved ones. All the animals were either laying or playing lol. . The gift shop had a lot of options to choose from, nothing wasn't to over priced and I found exactly what I wanted. Thank you for having us
The zoo is a great place to visit outdoors. Due to the pandemic, the zoo has one way traffic and you schedule appointments so the zoo is not too crowded. They also have hand sanitizer throughout the zoo. I felt they did a good job handling the pandemic. The zoo is a bit small, but can still provide an hour or two of leisurely enjoyment. Their gift shop too limits the number of people in at a time, making it feel safe.
Weekend
Amazing place! Kind employees and clean exhibits. Fun place to take kids!
Great little zoo. Wish some of the enclosures were bigger for the animals but overall great little treasure.
Went to after dark lots of fun. Bummer part it was very hot not may animals out. But the event was well worth the money
Great place for a family outing. My daughter had fun seeing all the animals and learning everything about them from the information boards posted by the enclosures. She loved the camel rides and the playground that was on site as well. Hours worth of fun for the family

Took a small group of kid's first week of April. It's best to pre-buy tickets and read the rules. Groups of 9 is the max. We had to wait for groups ahead of us. 6 foot rule. I thought it was costly. Plus you had to pay for parking. Many of the animal's were on Spring Break. Reptile House closed,, No Elephant's, Giraffes, or other larger animal's. They were a lot of repairs. Should have been discounted tickets!
Took my kids niece and nephew to the light show and they loved it it was awesome beautiful and great not too cold
Fun visit. I went on world rhino day, but I didn't take pictures of the rhinos! Because they were cool and I was looking at them too much to take pictures.
Active animals, friendly staff, nice petting zoo, stroller friendly, small enough to go around twice in a day and have a chance to see active animals, wife walk-ways, nice atmosphere, clean, etc.
I always enjoy Potter Park when we visit out here. Due to corona the park is set up the best way possible. While we didnt spend as much time here as we usually would it was nice to get the kids doing something normal. Camel rides were even running and handled with safety and care in mind.
Great zoo. Just the right size to see some cool animals in a few hours time with the family.

While I like to take my son here, I was disappointed in the safety during their Christmas light event. When we went into the cat house, we all made sure to wear a mask. I was disappointed to see there were no longer any signs saying you had to wear one inside. The inside was very crowded, and about half the people were wearing masks. We are in the worst wave in the pandemic, yet there are no safety measures being taken like earlier in the pandemic. I’m very upset, because I like going to this zoo, but it seems like they have given up on keeping their visitors comfortable and safe.
Great medium-size zoo with plenty of animals. Also has fun areas for kids to play. Food options are very limited. Bring bug spray for the mosquitoes!
Great little zoo. Nice snd Small but many animals. Great day adventure!
Weekend
Double the fun for your buck. Fair price. Followed covid prevention policies. Animals well cared for. Details... OK you drive up to the booth outside to Potter Park... It's $5 for a whole car to get inside. Once inside you can enjoy Potter Park which includes trails, fishing spots, a kiddy playground, grills, ect. There's plenty of parking. Next to the parking lot is the zoo entrance. You pay $14 per adult (cheaper for children) if you aren't from Lansing to get into the zoo or if you are local it's only $7. For a decent price you can spend the whole day in the park and at the zoo with the family.
My kids love to go see the animals and I enjoy seeing the zoo through their little eyes.
Potter Park Zoo it's a small Gem of a zoo on Pennsylvania Street in Lansing Michigan. It's a great place to take children or will be nice for a date. You can get through this do in about an hour and a half or so and see everything! The staff is friendly the zoo is nice and clean there's a lot of picnic areas and restrooms so is very convenient and it is surrounded by beautiful Park
Overall was a fun time, wasn't too crowded. Only issue was a lot of exhibits were closed still. Charging full price, all indoor exhibits were closed and a few outdoor exhibits as well. Pony rides are closed. For as much as we seen I Feel Like We Only should have been charged half of a full admission. Other than that, a decent place to go with the kids. Open times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. right now.
For this tray of food, I paid 14$. I like the zoo otherwise, but they should at least show you what you're buying when clearly it is extremely overpriced. The handful of fries was 4$, the one hot dog was 5$ and the Medium drink was the size of a standard small, maybe even smaller. The Small was the size of a kids size drink. Together they were 5$ which is more than you would pay at any food place. So defintely bring your own food. It cost 17$ to get in there for just me and my son plus 5$ for parking. I am happy to pay that, but the food prices really make you feel ignorant for purchasing anything inside the park.
Was a convenient zoo visit, as we live about 5 minutes from here. We enjoyed being able to walk in the enclosure and brush the goats. Would take the kids here again.
Great inexpensive family outing. Loved the baby rhino! Felt safe during the pandemic with the one way walk thru.
Very clean and well maintained. The zoo keepers that were feeding the animals were kind enough to answer questions about animals. We had a memorable time.
I love this place! I've been to alot of zoos in and around Michigan I have to say this is 1 of the best! Son had a BLAST! GREAT PLACE
Very clean and organized zoo. Definitely a small one. Most of the animals were sleeping or either hiding or there was many areas closed off due to Covid nonsense. So didn't get to see much of the animals like we wanted. Maybe summer time is a better time to go when more exhibits are open and the animal's aren't hiding to sleep or warm up from the weather. Didn't get to see the snow leopard as we wanted to since it was sleeping ????.
A super cute zoo and a nice surrounding park. Grab a pop and pretzel at the concession stand and watch Jaali the baby Rhino hop around his enclosure. We're members and take weekly walks at the zoo. A walk is 10x better at the zoo!

Love this zoo! Love the bald eagle conservation program and they have bongos, a snow leopard, lions, a tiger, a great otter exhibit, penguins, monkeys, and so many more animals. You can see that they are striving for constant improvement. Every time we go, there is something new to look at.
I LOVE going to Potter Park Zoo. I was happy to see a better selection of merchandise in the store then the last time we went in the spring. I was a little disappointed that the restaurant no longer has as many selections like they use to have. They really need to bring back the hamburger/cheeseburgers. I was also disappointed to only see one peacock. There use to be so many. I was glad to see Jamali one more time before he leaves the zoo. The zoo is always clean and the staff is very friendly. You can tell the staff really takes good care of the animals. I truly appreciate the zoo keepers and all their hard work. I would go to the zoo everyday of my life if I could. Its like I'm go home when I'm there. I love that they work on conservation efforts. Also my grandson loved the playground as well.
Potter Park Zoo is great. They implemented a good system for limiting the number of visitors and enforce masks. I love coming here.
Cute zoo! The animals are usually pretty active, and you can get some good photos. The staff is really friendly and helpful. I see they're also remodeling/redesigning many of the habitats, so it'll be nice to see when they're done!
It was great. The number of people inside the zoo is limited. You might have to wait, but people are exiting all day long also, so Our wait was maybe 10/15 mins. Signs ask for only one family group in an exhibit at a time. People were respectful of social distancing rules. It was a busy Free Grandparents Day, but organized so not crowded. Thank you Potter Park Zoo for a great family day.
A great place for the whole family!
A smaller zoo, but very nice. The animals look happy and well cared for. The people working there are friendly and helpful. My kids and I had an awesome time! Will definitely be visiting again!
We go to this Zoo once a year. I actually hate going to zoos but this one does not feel like a normal Zoo. It's small enough where you can see it in under 2 hours or you can take half a day and stay there the whole time the whole time. we go there once a year and will continue to do so even though there's nothing new year-to-year
Went here while on vacation. Super cute and totally doable for my preschooler. Could use a bit more signage indicating stroller routes to avoid stairs (elk area in particular was confusing).
It's a very nice zoo with wonderful animals. Though I would suggest they add some sort of "Night time activity Tour" while most of their animals are naturally active.
Wonderful day. I'm in a wheelchair and i didn't have any trouble. Mature trees and buushes. The big cats were out. Monkeys very active. Wolves. 2 american bald eaglles. Very photogenic. Nice gift shop. Bring your own food if you can carry it.. Great small zoo.
We were sad about the tiger. Was a great zoo with lots of animals. Loved watching the otters play
Is a nice small zoo to take younger kids to! My 10 month old son had fun and seemed to enjoy him self.
Ticket price for non residents is a little high for what you get, but they do have some unique animals from what other zoos have. Facilities are older but in mostly good condition.
Great place to hangout nice park but kinda run down compared to what it use to be like was pretty dissapointed not as much exhibits as there use to be but I still enjoy going
This is a fun inexpensive place to go for an afternoon day date! Not all exhibits were open because of Covid, but it was still fun!
I took my granddaughters who absolutely love this zoo. We go many times a year. It has large trees for shade and usually a lovely breeze even on hot days. One of my granddaughters is obsessed with the peacocks.
It may look small, but this is a wonderful zoo! The settings were layed out in such a way that the animals can be seen fairly easily. This is the only zoo that I know that has moose! You even get to see a lion up close! It's safe behind the glass, of course. The gift shop didn't have much, but after all the unique animals I've seen, it doesn't bother me at all. 10/10. Would come again. :D
Very nice zoo, clean and fun. The animals were almost all on display, and the enclosures were large, but not difficult to find them in. My kids and I really enjoyed it.
Had a great time with my kids.

We had a great time at the Potter Park Zoo. You could see employees sanitizing trash cans and people social distanced well. You can only go one way through the zoo and there are paw prints to follow. My 2.5 year old had fun at the playground too. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it in the shade at a table. The only thing is I wish we could have gone into the buildings to see those animals. Otherwise, I would highly recommend!
Great place to take kids and adults alike. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Zoo was very clean and animals were well taking care of. Up close and personal with the exhibits. Food at concession stand was surprisingly good.
Small zoo in a wonderfully green park with plenty of seating, grills and a playground area for the kiddies! The zoo is a perfect zoo for for children 10 and under. It’s small enough that they won’t likely complain of walking too much and the animals are kind of close to each other. Went on Zoo Days to day where entry is only $1 and parking is free. Friendly staff in ticket booth and throughout the park.
Smaller city zoo. Pretty cheap parking and tickets for residents and non-residents. It takes about an hour or so to visit everything. Toward the end of the school year it can get very crowded on Fridays. I would recommend waiting for a earlier day in the week or Sundays. There is a petting zoo and camel rides.
Yes
Well kept up, friendly park, especially for younger children. Habitats are well built and designed, and garden areas are attractive and well-maintained.

A great place to get away for locals. If your in Lansing and are looking for a good time, Potter Park is full of adventure. Included is a diverse population of animals, mammals, reptiles, birds, sealife, and more.
Wonderful zoo with acres of trees and playgrounds for the kids. An awesome spot for everyone in the family. Wonderful volunteers helped to make the visit fun, informative an personal.

Enjoyable Zoo with a small selection of animals to observe. Very clean and the staff was friendly. Will definetly recommend and return
Very fun to walk around and see many animals. Who can be mad at a zoo?
We had a great time! Bugs were a little bothersome.
I love visiting the Potter Park Zoo. It's a smaller zoo with a petting farm. The otters are my favorite.

Potter Park Zoo is great for kids and adults. The animals are happy and well taken care of. There always seems to be some sort of educational and engaging event and the staff is friendly. The park is clean and tidy. It is nice to have a zoo like this so close to home! The petting zoo is closed because of Covid, and they are requiring masks indoors, so make sure you bring a mask with you.
Went there with my afc home, not only were the mosquitos so bad, no animals were out. I paid 89.00 for 6 people to go see animals and we got to see maybe 5. The rest were not even in sight. Highly unsatisfied and will not be returning.
It was fantastic! Beautiful stream as you come ,in, lots of picnic areas to enjoy in a park setting without even going into the zoo, or take your picnic in with you! Lots of great animals including hard to find Meerkats and Snow Leopards. Large enough to have everything, but small enough to do in 4 leizure hours including lunch. Extremly afforadable! A must go to!
Been going here since childhood. Very fun. Lots to do and see. Some things in shops are a little high in price but it goes back into the zoo for expenditures the zoo utilizes. So it evens out. Clean. Set up is nice. Animals are well taken care of. Exhibits are well thought out in their set ups. Love taking the kids here for the day. Park playground out front... Pavillion.... picnic areas... lots of parking space. Good family fun.
Potter Park is a nice little zoo, especially if you have youngsters who don't have the attention span for a huge zoo. They have lions, tigers, wolves, etc. It's a great place to go for a couple hours and see some cool stuff. :)
It is great in its class. There are so much animals but they are very active animals.thank you for taking good care of animals.
Kids had great time. All the exhibits were well maintained. And they even had an offroad amiga i could get around with.

I think it’s great that Lansing has a zoo. The animals aren’t always so willing to deliver a show but it could be the time of day or just the weather. Certainly a good outing if you have little kids.
This is a great zoo. It's small but plenty to see and do and it's fun for the family. There is also a playground outside which is a great way to help the little ones get some energy out. There ar frequent zookeeper talks with folks who are very knowledgeable. Their summer camp zookambi is also a lot of fun. My daughter is our unofficial your guide everytime we go because if how much she learned!
Price for adult entry
We had the good fortune to visit this nice little Zoo last weekend. As a lifetime animal lover, I generally prefer smaller zoos. Although they don't have as much as larger zoos, you can usually get closer to the animals. This zoo is set in a beautiful wooded area. There's plenty of parking and even on a Saturday afternoon, it was never crowded, which is a great selling point. Our favorite exhibit was the Tamarinds. Small white topped monkeys with some babies. Adorable, although I didn't get any pictures of them. The otter was a lot of fun too, swimming back and forth to the delight of us all. The lions, although napping through the heat of the day were beautiful. The rhinoceros is a very majestic creature. Exceptionally pleasant day visiting such a nice zoo.
Have been visiting Potter Park for 45 plus years and it had always been fun. The difference now is the displays are better for the animals, the zoo is now part of breeding programs to help animals whose status is threatened, and there is more teaching going on for the children, their parents, and their grandparents. Oh you can still get a pony ride, a camel ride, and there is a much nicer snack bar. It is an enjoyable day with now our grandchildren.
Winter zoo in a pandemic means half the animals. But otherwise you can get pretty close to the ones that are out!
For residents, I definitely recommend the annual membership, it's definitely worth it. For out of State/non-locals, it may not be the most impressive Zoo in contrast some of the large Zoos, but there's still lots to see and worth the visit.
Potters Park Zoo is a zoo I have visited many, many times and unfortunately in the last few years I have visited, a lot of the animals weren't there/viewable to the public. This particular visit was well over $40 for 3 adults and one child under 5. (This doesn't include parking or anything else.) The cost is totally fine if all or even 3/4 of the animals are there to be viewed, but they weren't. The building with the monkeys, leopards, lion and more was completely empty besides a single bird. If I had to guess, I would say only about 1/4 or so of the animals were available to view. (Also, there were no explanations as to why the animals weren't there.) I still appreciate this zoo being in the area so I had to at least give them 3 stars.
Nice sized zoo with a nice variety of animals. Perefect size for children to walk around and not get too tired. I love to see the moose and rhinos whenever I go.
Very cool place, a lot of the animals were close up and easy to see. It was a cold, kinda rainy day when we went so not many of the food places were open. We definitely loved the zoo, but I was sad the moose was off exhibit.
