Pretty small, you will probably finish it in 45-60 min if you want to be thorough. But it is “the great and am amazing” zoo, but minus a star because Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melmen weren’t there

Daniel Straitiff

Make sure you check out the tropical exhibit. Birds are flying, walking and perching freely. Nice place to warm up. If you have glasses beware they will fog up with your mask on.

Central Park ZOO is small but well organized, clean and full of very interesting animals. We had a great time. We found penguins and California sea lions the most entertaining but also enjoyed looking at red panda, Japanese macagues, anmacaques, bear. Ticket must be purchased online.

It is a nice zoo but I really thought it was going to be a lo bigger or more relevant for it being at NYC and in the middle of Central Park. There are no African animals like the movie either :(.. we had fun and then walked the park but I am sure you would be able to find bigger and better zoos close to home.

This zoo holds a special place in my heart as a little kid I would come here with my grandmother to visit Gus the polar bear. After he died I didn't come back for years but I recently went with my father, my wife and my son. It's still got that same warm family feel. The children's zoo is a little dangerous at the beginning but once we got to the petting area my kid (who loves cows) refused to let us leave and used all our change to feed the bull they have. Afterwords we bought him a stuffed cow in the gift shop for around $20 and that is his new favorite toy he sleeps with it every night. I'm happy to see they kept up with the times but also kept that same family friendly feeling I remember as a child.

Nice little zoo nestled in the most famous park in the world. They have a decent amount of animals (for a January visit especially) including: snow leopards, bears, seals, an aviary, red pandas, and a petting zoo with goats and sheep. Very covid safe and a great time for younger kids.

Great place to go and relax for the day in the grass on a blanket. Go for a run!!!. Also a zoo to visit !!!. Only.thing that sucked is that while walking on a sidewalk...somehow got attacked by a hive of bees!!!! No lie. But go and enjoy..just down smell like honey ????

Nice zoo, some animals you could not see either because they were sleep or just not in there cages. Overall it was a good experience though. Staff and guests were friendly and some of the animals I did see were awesome.

s3niormoment

I'm not sure why but I thought there would be more to it. Not sure if it's worth 40$ just for two people with how limited it is. I did enjoy the stuff they did have though. Kind of felt bad about the snow leopard because of how hot it was and well, it's a snow leopard... The red panda was super adorable though and the penguins were fantastic.

I've visited this zoo for over 10 times now and I will keep coming back. Sitting in the center of Manhattan and surrounded by skyscrapers, this zoo has its unique character. The exhibits are diverse (considering the size) and well maintained. The staff are professional and polite. The sea lion feeding time is a high light but all the exhibits are worthy for both visitors and locals.

Xicanita Linda

I loved all of the animals. The only sad part was that the snow leopard didn't want to come out. I especially enjoyed the open bird room in the tropical area. A beautiful parrot flew down onto the railing and posed for pictures.

Great zoo, but it is a little on the small side. Easy to do in around 1.5- 2 hours tops. What it has going for it is that it's the world famous Central Park Zoo so who wouldn't want to go see it. The separate petting zoo was a cool touch and is included with purchase. In my opinion the best part of the zoo was the tropics habitat area.

This was a TINY zoo, only took about an hour and a half to walk, but it is pretty cute. The parrot in the tropical climate section was very friendly and liked pets. Be careful, he likes to nip, he was gentle, but it may not always be like that. Also, watch the squirrels, they steal food.

mag g

Very small zoo, but they really pack a lot in. We were blown away by the snow leopard habitat, how large it was for the small space. All the other exhibits were wonderful. And there's so much history here! Added bonus.

I visited Central Park Zoo from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on 2021, November 6th. The price was reasonable . It is a nice little zoo with penguins, lemurs, parrots, cats and so forth. I enjoyed the historical look of its overall architecture and that it’s nestled in the corner of Central Park. I also enjoyed that I could walk and see all the animals in a short hour and a half - which is done in more or less a circular path. It’s like having a nice little sweet dessert when you don’t feel like a big buffet dinner.

It's really nice here. I got my ticket from a kiosk at the zoo entrance. The ticket gave me access to both the main zoo and the children's zoo. There is a tropical area, an enclosure for penguins, bears and several other animals. Make sure you see the snow leopard, absolutely beautiful and elusive.

If you want to have a good time with the kiddos while in NYC, then you have to come to the park! It isn't huge but it definitely has some cool animals! They have some pretty cool sea lions and tigers and birds. I love how it's a small sanctuary in the middle of the city. Definitely something worth checking out, especially with children!

Employees were polite. The animals are amazing and you can get up close and personal with the exotic birds. They are makijg ppl wear the masks for the covid but its for your safety so its ok. They have food but its a bit expensive. You can also bring your own food from home if you want to.

This is a beautiful zoo and bigger than I thought! They really made a nice home for these beautiful animals. There's also a lot of space to walk and sit to rest and get some sun. A perfect escape from the city without leaving the city.

Beautiful ✨ park with a family-friendly atmosphere! I had a great time here; seeing all of the animals and learning all of the interesting facts was a fantastic way to spend the day. The zoo is beautifully landscaped and surrounded by gardens. There are numerous benches to rest on. There are water stations where you can refill your bottle. It's incredible to see a zoo in the heart of the city. Before entering the zoo, don't miss the musical clock. Definitely a place to go and more than once!!

One of my favorite things about Central Park. It’s a small zoo in a big space. The thing I loved is it’s a natural environment. The rocks and trees the animals are surrounded by, are also found throughout the park. Animals seem to be in a more natural environment.

We went here on Christmas Eve day and it was magical to experience. Very little kid friendly zoo because it’s not too big but at the same time not too little either. It was easily laid out so you can stroll through with ease. Very nice clean restrooms as well. They are taking covid precautions very seriously too. You had to wear a mask and there was hand sanitizer everywhere. The animals were great! My favorite exhibits were the snow monkey and red panda! The kids loved every exhibit and the little children’s zoo was very fun for them to explore. The gift shop is awesome too. They need to sell a snow monkey souvenir of some sort though ;) I would’ve loved that personally. This was an amazing NYC thing to do. Highly highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed. Amazing time. Animals were most lively of any Zoo I have ever been too other then a wild life sanctuary in AZ. Super clean, one way traffic flow, hand sanitizer everywhere, and slight line at the Penguins, but patrons were being counted and advanced appropriately. Pretty sure the parrot was trying to poop on people. snow leopards were magnificent. Pandas so energetic. We went at 2pm. Maybe be timing is everything.

It’s small (not like in the Madagascar movie) but It’s still quite impressive that there is a zoo in the middle of Manhattan with red pandas, monkeys and grizzly bears. It seems like the staff are taking good care for the animals so I recommend you to visit it if you are in NYC looking for curious places.

I love me some Jesus

It’s a yo nice cute little zoo with very friendly and well trained seals. We went there in the afternoon and all the animals Are sleeping so it’s better to go earlier. There are some parts where you can’t get stroller in, so make sure to bring baby carrier with you if u have small babies.

The Central Park Zoo is a 6.5-acre (2.6 ha) zoo located at the southeast corner of Central Park in New York City. It is part of an integrated system of four zoos and one aquarium managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS). Very nice, small, zoo. The experience here is not about visiting and seeing animals as this is not the biggest zoo around. It's about the walking around in Central Park and watching people around. There is couple of closed-room, temperature-controlled exhibits like the Tropical room, or the Penguin show. The best (fun) one is the sea lions. Nice show! Try to get there at 3:30 for the feeding session, which has a very nice show with staff feeding and playing with sea lions.

Everyone tells you how big Central Park is, but you can never really understand until you’re there! Everything is so much better than you can imagine! It’s so big and clean and refreshing. The trails are a work of art in the way that they work with the landscaping to make it feel more organic and not like someone just cut flat trails. You really need an entire day (or 2!) to really see everything here. Lots of paths for walking, running, or biking mean it’s easy to get some good exercise in while seeing a beautiful park.

Bradley G

Nice but not too many animals... Some of them where hidden...

The Central Park Zoo is a convenient location for our kids to explore wildlife. The good in the cafe was good, but slightly more expensive than what we would be able to get from other places (which was as expected). We got a 10% discount from the cafe with our membership. The number of exhibits was good, not too many to kill me from dragging my kids around, and enough for the kids to spend hours. It’s nice that some of the birds were just walking around free style. I was a little concerned about the birds’ safety, but making sure the kids does not accidentally step in the birds’ way will help not to scare them or the kids. We were fortunate enough to see the snow leopard, but the bears were not there (which was a pity as my son loves bears). We can always go back to see again as the ticket for my kid was just $8.95. It’s a nice spot to hangout with little friends right in there in Central Park!

Central Park just has it all and their zoo is no exception! It's a small zoo but they've packed in an impressive number of animals without any creature seeming too cramped or uncomfortable. A really fun spot for families that makes you think "am I really dead center in a major metropolis?" - it's a pretty transportive experience!

Za M

It’s small but it’s actually a lot bigger than I expected. There are some outdoor and indoor chambers. The indoor section with the birds and monkeys was my favorite part because the birds are just flying around freely and you can almost touch them since they fly so close I could spend all day in there. I was surprised that there was bigger animals like bears and leopards there. I did the whole thing in less than 2 hours but for the price it was definitely worth it

Was it cold? Yes. Were there roughly 35 penguins of assorted shapes and sizes jumping in the water and yelling at each other? Yes yes. Was it the best experience one can have without physically holding a penguin? Yes yes yes. Pro tip: at 2:30 PM is feeding time for the pengys. It lasts for a SOLID 20 minutes. Do yourself a favor and aim for that 2:30 PM timeslot.

The Real Deal

Had a blast here with my wife. Right in Central Park as the name implies so you can imagine it wasn't the biggest zoo I've been to but they've done well with the space they have. On top of that they also take part in many great conservation efforts. Walking through the zoo was a beautiful experience on its own because of how they have it set up. Very relaxing. I only wish the grizzly bear exhibit was up and running while I was there but they had red pandas, snow leopards, and sea lions which I had yet to see in any of the zoos I've been to so far. Even the children's zoo is worth a walk through even if you don't have children just because of the aforementioned scenery and relaxing nature an they have a petting zoo. I recommend the sea lion and tropical forest exhibits especially, I could spend hours there.

Pretty decent zoo. Penguins seem to have good conditions and right temperatures. Birds concern me a little though, their enclosures seem really small, I wish zoo would do something about it since there’s obviously enough space. Unlike other zoos, I was pleasantly surprised with nature as well, there were little paths and stairs going through nature and it was quite pretty. Bunch of flowers! Due to COVID, there is no re-entry, you can reserve tickets online or buy in person, and masks are mandatory during whole visit. They have restrooms and gift shop on site. We also loved the rainforest section. We were not able to see some of the animals in their enclosures. It is a small zoo compared to the zoos we have been to but it is perfect for young children. I would give it 5 stars if we saw all the animals. It was a fun day in the city!

This zoo was fun, but it's not the best I've seen. The animals seemed to be well cared for; the jungle area was warm to suit the animals and the arctic area was colder (and smelled like penguins). It was a pretty good experience, though we weren't there long. Lots of pic opportunities.

Great place to spend a couple hours in Central Park/Midtown. It's far from the largest zoo, but the diversity of interesting animals is certainly worth the cost of admission. Especially considering what a cool experience the tropical zone is.

Very nice zoo, my son loved it even though we couldn't see the bear and mountain lion.

It’s was a super cute experience. The place is super clean and big. There are a lot of animals along the zoo and is easy to go around the place.

Nice date spot or place to visit for a family, especially with small kids. Must see the Penguins and Tropical Biome (as hot and humid as it may be inside). Spotting the Grizzly Bear ???? is tough work since I learned she’s 27 years old and usually just sleeps. Apparently they have a snow leopard ❄️ ???? but it’s more elusive than the Jurassic Park T-Rex…

Smaller on the scale of zoos in the metropolitan area. Zoo is located right in Central Park which makes it a nice way to break up the day or walk through the park. Very interesting to see animals in the heart of New York City.

Beautiful zoo in Central Park. Have visited it a few times now and always a fun stroll through it. Nature and gorgeous ambiance all around. You can catch a feeding session for the active Otters too. Do not miss the musical clock before entrance of the zoo (see my video).

Good place, i thought it was bigger than i expected but it's amazing

Is a very small zoo with a limited amount of species. For example, no big cats; the best are the tropical and penguin exhibits.

The park is beautiful but not so big. Take about two hours to walk the entire park.

Beautiful, it's tiny, you can see all the animals between one hour and a half. I bought the tickets online, just before entered. It was fast and I think that $13 each, is worth. You can find food inside. ❤️

Central Park ZOO is small but well organized, clean and full of very interesting animals. We had a great time. We found penguins and California sea lions the most entertaining but also enjoyed looking at red panda, Japanese macagues, anmacaques, bear. Ticket must be purchased online.

The Central Park Zoo is amazingly well done all of the animals have a good sized habit despite the zoo being small compared to the Bronx Zoo.

Awesome experience.. especially watching the seagulls put on a show.. spent the entire day there. The ticket cost for adults is $14 odd but it's worth it ..

Small and quaint. But a nice place to get the kids out of the house or a date. Not many animals to see but the seals make up for it. Their performance was everything

Beautiful park & Family friendly! I had lots of fun here, seeing all the animals and reading the little facts was a great way to spend the day. Every animal made frequent yet equally cute appearances. My personal favorites were the red panda & the two snow leopards! Still providing a safe & sanitized environment to come see all the fun furry friends, 100% worth it!

Interesting place to visit, my three years old enjoyed a lot. Loved the little creatures, and birds cage! And bonus the beautiful city view inside the park!

A wonderful experience. The zoo is small enough that you don't need to spend all day there to see it all, but still large enough that there is plenty to see. Another great thing that I realized is that because it's small, it's super easy to loop back around to anything you want to see again. Was the snow leopard not really visible the first time you went to see it? Loop back around and check again later! That hasn't been an option at any other zoo I've visited if you actually wanted to cover the whole zoo in one day.

It was decent and worth visiting while in Central Park. If you are going to see the Madagascar animals, you wont find them. The seal feeding was fun to watch. 4D show was OK.

This is a Central Park must-see destination. My kids are older (age 13 and 10) and we saw all the exhibits and the two feedings (penguin and sea lion) in about two hours. It was the perfect size for my family's interest level and gave us time to do other things in the city too. Purchasing tickets online was super easy and made entry a breeze. Oh, and the architecture is beautiful!
