You will see all the feddbacks of people like you who use the products and services of The Killman Zoo (Zoo) in Barkerville (Canada).
As of day this business has a score of 4.3 over 5 and that rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average score it has is high, and it's based on a high number of reviews, so we can say that the rating is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are pleased, it works.
You know that we don't usually stop to write feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Zoo corresponds to the category of Zoo.
Family friendly staff and zoo.
These animals are very well taken care of and very well fed. The Killmans are always improving their animals homes daily. This is the closest experience you'll ever have in Canada to a lion. This zoo is absolutely necessary for this community and province for the purpose of learning. Another great aspect of the zoo is location. On those hot Ontario summer days they offer a cool stroll through their beautiful forest. Where you get a real sense of nature. I would highly recommend visiting this zoo with your whole family . It's the closest experience you'll ever have to some of the most beautiful big cats this planet has to offer. 5 stars hands down
Great experience! Good variety of animals and friendly staff. Good COVID related safety measures as well.
Took my daughter this week... She's 12 months old and just loved it. Took approx. 1.5 hours to go through. You get up close to some great animals. Worth it.
Lots of animals especially big cats! Easy to follow path. Friendly employees.
Very cute zoo????
I have always felt very conflicted when it comes to going to zoos and seeing these beautiful animals in these enclosed and depressing environments. Killman Zoo does NOT fit that profile. If you come here, to your surprise you will see dozens of wonderful animals that are actively moving/playing and actually look happy. Over the years, I have become a regular at this place and during that period, I have gotten to know the owners. When you hear their story, you will learn that this place started off as an animal rescue to save these animals from some of the horror stories you hear of at some of those bad zoos/unfriendly homes for such creatures. Over the years, it has grown and then grown some more into what is now the Killman Zoo. They have tigers, lions, leopards, monkeys, porcupines, emus, lemurs, wolves, a bear, owls, and soooo much more. All animals have decent sized enclosures and get the attention and space they need to live a happy life. Most importantly, they have loving owners that actually care for these animals like their own family. You can buy peanuts to feed some of the animals you may see at a petting zoo or if you are really adventurous you can witness feedings of the large cats on Sundays at 3pm (I think). I am now a father of 2 toddlers and love bringing the family here. You can generally cover the zoo in 1-2 hours and will certainly get your money's worth in that time. If you have not already done so, please go check it out. Regardless how you may think you feel about zoos, this place may actually change your mind...
Awesome, there are so many animals! A great place to go!
First visit for my family. Very friendly staff! Nowhere to really sit down but understandable due to the pandemic. The animals look healthy but bored. Lots of lions!
Beautiful cat in a forest setting
Best zoo for small children and those who do not want to spend a whole day at the bigger zoos. It is completely shaded and have enough animals especially lions to keep your children intrigued. You get so close to them, the hairs on the back of your neck stick up!
This zoo is great.. Ignore the reviews. Just angry animal activists. These animals are cares for, the people live there year round. Where else you gonna see a lion? Not going to Africa any time soon that's for sure.
We try to come here at least once a year. The staff are always friendly and my daughter spends hours roaming the nicely shaded trails.
Amazing zoo. Must go again!
I do love going there with my little ones!!! It is a awesome experience, but they have taken out the food from the petting zoo, all the animals in that area were expecting food. So one of the EMU growled at my oldest, and one of the goats near nipped my hand, looking for food, d please don't take this review the wrong way, my family loves your zoo, but with all the money you are making with the high prices, you should be doing more for the enclosures, making them more like there natural habitats and expanding them. Love you tho
The Killman zoo is a wonderful place. I've been coming here for 3 years now and wish I would have found this place sooner. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and dedicated at what they do. They always take the time to interact with the guests and, are always happy to answer any questions anyone has. between the owners, staff and volunteers the animals are very well cared for all year round, even in the freezing winters. They love the animals very much, and are always going above and beyond to make sure they are happy and well. There is no other way I'd rather spend a day, than at the Killman Zoo
Lots of big cats and other animals to check out!
Good times
Go ahead if you Just want to see lions and tigers. Big cats. Other than than, nothing much to say about the zoo. Not impressed according to the ticket price. Ticket should be half the price for the animals they have.
I often volunteer here. The owners love their animals and would do anything for them. They are well looked after and know the owners. Most of the cats were born there and know their names and the volunteers and owners. Very much fun to hang out and work there. Good prices and service! All the animals are happy.
Great place for parents and kids. My 23 month old son loved it here. It's small enough to see everything, but large enough with a lot of animals. They all look like they are well cared for and the staff are very friendly to visitors and animals alike. You can get really close to a lot of the animals. Very great first time experience here. We will be back again many more times! Thanks!
This is a great spot to go on a afternoon off! The staff here are great as are the owners. The range of animals are impressive and they seem quite happy! The lions are my favorite and you get to see them up close which is why I enjoy coming here. If you go on a sunday they do feedings and it's quite something to watch.
Theres a ton of beautiful and exotic animals from the smallest birds to the biggest king of the jungle
These are fake reviews. This place is horrendous and depressing
It's okay...They have lots of lions and very few other animals. It's not so bad for the kids
Thus place is amazing, got to sit and hangout with a baby Jaguar and these other baby cats, can't remember what they weren't called
Love this place. Rates are great and the staff are friendly. The animals are gorgeous and they look well kept. Highly recommended this zoo!
Small but Well maintained Zoo. They specialize in Wild cats. An opportunity to see them up close. Excellent staff.
Nice place. Lots of lions and tigers. The kids enjoyed it.
Amazing time. My first time attending and I was blown away by the animals there and that we could actually see the animals. Friendly staff. Bring snacks/lunches and drinks, no place to purchase same. Lots of places to sit and eat or just hang out.
It was nice to pricy for the amount thats there
Great place to visit. See animals up close.
Just wow. Dingy, poorly laid out and the animals have no space to move.
Best place ever to see an awesome selection of big cats and various other interesting animals up close and personal! The staff are super informative and friendly and you'll never leave disappointed!
Love this zoo staff are so friendly well maintained lots of big cats
I love this zoo! The zoo is a fair size, not too big and is great for all ages. You can tell the employees care for the animals and the animals trust them. I love coming here every summer!
Amazing and beautiful little zoo Great for small children
Small zoo but lots of big cats to see and get kids out the house and view a variety of wild animals up and close so Remember mornings and around 3 pm great time to visit as the animals are wide awake. No food to buy or area to seat and enjoy a picnic with family. Staff are friendly and always enjoy to answer any questions kids or adults might have regarding any of the zoo residents. I have always bought my tickets in person cause is fast and never had any issues. I almost forgot it smells a little but is normal in any zoo. If your sensitive to smells go to the mall or stay in the car LoL
fun but expensive
Awesome place. Great experience. You are so close to the animals. The Lions roar and it's almost like you're in the wild. You can feed certain animals (they give a list of one's you can) and they have several types of animals such as tigers, Lions, cougars, Jaguars, monkeys etc.
Very nice zoo
Love the addons ( picnic area) and enlarged enclosures for the animals
We loved to see all of the animals up close,my hole family loved seeing all the healthy and scary animals to me it was AMAZING✌????
We loved it!!! The CATS were amazing & you get to be so close to them. I honestly LOVED going here & the animals are very well taken care of & loved you can tell. Keep up the good work!! We will be back again very soon.
My wife, daughter and I attended the Zoo it was okay... the animals were nice to see but they seemed very stressed in these tiny cages. The path ways and signage were unclear and very confusing. The parking was very small. I dislike the fact the zoo smelled like a skunk. It was okay our daughter had fun but I personally would not go back it is a first and last time adventure for us all.
Animals are not kept in a sanitary environment. The larger animals such as tigers, lions wolfs, leapord and the black panthers are kept in a 10 foot cage and are never aloud out. The smell is horrific as these animals are not kept clean. Half the animals seem depressed. By far the worst zoo experience we have ever had. I am not sure how a place like this is still open. They should have been shut down a long time ago. Terrible experience
Cool zoo and it's fun for all ages. The staff were awesome, so friendly and knowledgeable
Much smaller than I would have thought. Plenty of animals though. Animals all appear healthy and well groomed. Staff was friendly and answered questions.
We stumbled upon this place as we were leaving a conservation area nearby. My kids love animals and judging by the small parking lot, it didn't seem like an overly large or crowded place so we decided to check it out. The 'up close' lions near the lions were impressive to my 8 and 4 year old; however, as we wound our way further down the zoo trails, my older child started asking a lot of questions: Why are those big tigers in such small spaces? Why are they pacing back and forth? Why does it smell so bad? What's wrong with that lion's fur? We had a long and serious conversation about animal welfare. I felt tremendously guilty that I hadn't read up on this place before paying money to witness such poor treatment of these beautiful big cats. Many of them appeared agitated and sad, with nowhere to go besides up and down the (short) length of their cages. At one point a Siberian tiger roared loudly at another family with a wee baby in a stroller and a staff person came running. That was the only staff interaction we saw with the animals during the 45 min we were there. No education, no one cleaning cages, no one tending to animals in any way. It left me with a sinking, sad feeling. I really dont know why this place is allowed to stay open.
Good place to visit with kids. Family of 4 cost around $52. Parking is free. They have good selection of cats
Small zoo, we did it twice in 2 hours. Yet, you will never get to see animals that close, specially tigers and lions. Completely in nature and shadowy, kids had so much fun. Staff were very friendly and explained to kids with a smile. We can argue of course about the space that those animals have, but it is a zoo not a safari. PS: Take your own food, the cantine is closed :)
Love this place. The animals are healthy and well looked after. The price of admission is very reasonable as well.
Nice small zoo. Kids loved the wolves and baby baboon.
Beautiful animals and so up close they were! Many varieties. I've never experienced anything like that before! I would go back again and again!
Lots of big cats and lemmurs! The animals are cared for very well. All of the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The property is a little run down. The zoo is in need of repairs to many of the enclosures and buildings. There are also many areas that need to be cleaned up of branches, brush, leaves. The kids had a really great time. The place just needs some TLC. I still recommend going. They are privately funded and receive no assistance other than donations and park fees.
Beautiful big cats. Close up views. Lots of photo opportunities.
Very chill A bit expensive for the set up but there is alot to see.
Zoo on county areà
The zoo has beautiful animals. You certainly get close to the animals but not for a good reason. The cages are incredibly small for such large animals that need space ro run and roam. Though it was an animal sanctuary based on the description of this zoo, doesn't seem like it. Many of the animal's were pacing back and forth in their small cages. The Emu can reach its head out and bite your feet, be careful when you stand there. During feeding time, collous maximus was throwing up, after eating just 1 chicken, and he didn't look very good. The staff said it's normal, because he eats too fast.
Great experience for my family. My 2yr old toddler enjoyed her first zoo trip!
Great zoo! If you are heading in this direction make the time to stop. Great selection of large cats and other animals. You can tell the animals are very well looked after. They have large well shaded enclosures with lots of stimulating toys/activities. None of the animals appeared to be unhappy. Do not be deterred by the two unsavoury reviews. These were clearly posted by people that do not understand these animals nor what their natural habitats have now become. I have lived in Africa and seen what happens to these beautiful creatures in the wild more often than not by poachers. We should support the people that are dedicating their lives to protecting the animals that they can.
It's the perfect size for small children to stay entertained. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Large amounts of the path are shaded which is nice on a hotter day. I'd recommend this zoo for those who are looking to spend a morning or afternoon out with their children. Remember this is a family owned zoo and rescue and not a full fledge zoo so some amenities are basic which to me adds to the atmosphere.
Great place for a first time zoo experience for the kids!
Great experience, very organized.itvtakes around 2h to discover everything
Nice animals
Very pleasant surroundings. Lots of different animals. Great place to take the kids.
Small zoo for couple of hours visit, variety of animal especially lions and tigers, only thing it is not well organized and no map or visitor guide available
Great little hidden gem of the area. So many animals to see it takes quite awhile to walk through ,you definitely have to go check it out
6 kids and 5 adults was awesome. All the kids ages 2 to 9 had fun.
It's bigger and better than I expected, based on the size of the parking lot, the signage and the website quality. It definitely gives off a "Tiger King" vibe. The kids loved it! We will be visiting again.
I never knew this place even existed! About an hour drive to get there and honestly if they needed volunteers I would drive there every day!! Beautiful animals that look so content. I cant say enough good about this place!! It was alot bigger than I anticipated. Great job!!
Great zoo :) It's a bit smaller than what you would expect but the big cats seem really happy and well socialised to people.
Up so close to the big cats, loved it
Small Zoo but we love bringing the kids to feed the rams and goats. Tiger feeding is also a fav.
Great place and the set up for C19 was perfect as they made the walking trail very easy to follow. For kids any age this was fantastic. Thank you
Great little zoo that puts you really close to the animals. Lots of large cats, Wolfes and lemurs. Very friendly staff who go out of their way to talk to guests
Pretty good zoo. The Animals have space to move around. A lil secret most people don't know if you're there late, around closing time, you just might catch them feeding the animals. It's quite a sight watching the Lions feed
This is a amazing place to visit. Truly a gem hidden in Haldiman. Very clean, staff is friendly and animals looked good. Highly recommend for anyone to visit.
Animals look well cared for - the layout is such that you can see most animals close up
Small, easy and up close to some amazing animals. They specialize in large cats. Animals seem very well treated. Other than being sprayed by a very large tiger, the visit was perfect. Highly recommend.
All the animals were on display and chatting up a storm! And the staff were staying safe but still interacting with visitors!
Great place to see Big Cats
Fantastic place to see wild animals
Wonderful animal selection and good size zoo. Presentation leaves a little to be desired, but that's not as important as you think it would be. My family enjoyed it more than some city zoos.
Amazing hidden gem!
It's been a few years since we went. We went back July 2019 and wow it's so big now. Great prices friendly stuff that answers any questions you have. Will definitely be going back. Great day with my daughter and her bf.
Nice zoo
Great place to see the animals close up.
(Translated) Nice little zoo welcoming and very interesting, big and kids liked (Original) Beau petit zoo accueillant et très intéressant, grands et les enfants ont bien aimé
This is our favorite zoo. The animals are so well cared for and always relaxed. The staff will answer all your questions and take thier time. And if the owner is around you will see a full grown lion act like a house cat looking for a belly rub. They really love these animals and it is a wonderful outing for families with areas to sit and relax. I can't say enough great things about this place.
Killman Zoo is an amazing place to go and you are guarantee you will see the majority of animals when you get there no matter the time. We have been there twice now and it never fails it is an amazing opportunity to see such big cats and so many other interactive animals. I can't wait to be back again because this place makes me wanna move closer so I can work there every day
Great local zoo! Lots of big cats to enjoy and the staff is super friendly! Great outdoor activity to enjoy during a pandemic and great signage as well.
I have been attending Killman Zoo for over 20 years. The animals have ALWAYS been looked after and very well loved. I have never seen an under weight or sick animal on the premises. For those who say the enclosures are too small, I often wonder if they do not realize the enclosures are sectioned off for when they clean the cages, need ro provide care to cage mates. The trap doors open to extend the cages. Over the last two years the zoo has done ALOT of work and has made room for a bunch of new big cats. Most cats have water to swim, all have look out perches and none are over crowded. These animals were born in captivity, they do not understand a "wild exsistence" but they are still given rights to their wild behaviors and social needs. The sky is the limit and can only go up from here. I guarantee you will be pleasantly surprised.
???? The wolves are sweet hearts, and the Eagle likes to play peekáboo ????
Great little Zoo ! They have many large cats and you can get really close to them . Very affordable and you can get in and out in a couple hours .
Great value for the cost.
Great place to bring the whole family. I like it's compact so you don't have to walk much to see the animals.
Wonderful place to visit with kids. Petting zoo is so much fun for them. This is only place where I have seen lions and tigers so close and hear them roar, they look so big.. amazing experience. Would love to go again.
I loved this zoo. Everyone was amazing and knowledgeable and friendly and the animals were so well cared for.
Great little hidden gem of the area. So many animals to see it takes quite awhile to walk through ,you definitely have to go check it out
Cages are too small ???? Poor animals!
Amazing experience!! Hands down this zoo is much better than Toronto Zoo in terms of actually seeing the animals up close. They are the place to be if you want to see big cats. They have a bunch of lions, some tigers, cougars, Jaguars, and others and also have other animals. The goats and sheep are hilarious too. I love this zoo because you see the animals so close and some even interact with you to some extent. Vinny and Will were the staff there when we went and they were amazing, friendly, kind, informative, perfect with dealing and talking to our littles ones. They added to the positive experience. This zoo is one I would visit several times a year. It was nice and empty when we went so we took our time and enjoyed the animals. Take note that you won't find big animals here like giraffes and elephants, but still worth the trip regardless. I highly recommend this place.
Went and was closed do to wet conditions call first????
They have really made some improvements and if you like getting close to big cats....this zoo cant be beat.
It's an amazing place. See all the "bid cats" is awesome. You can hear them "roaring". It's beautiful and very well care.
Fantastic place to see some big cats and other animals. The kids particularly enjoy the goats.
A MUST see this summer .. and next . They have a lot of wild cats here , I saw at least 25 . I loved the beautiful and rare WHITE LION , and also the HUGE BLACK PANTHER . My daughter loved to watch the Bengal tiger ( I think it was anyway )As it was spashimg and playing with toys in the pool . The animals are well cared for, and incase your wondering about the size of the display enclosure... They do have lots of extra space to roam around . It looks to be about 10 acres and they always come back to their den on their own ????. You can purchase an annual pass for only 70 dollars , and if you want you can even use your admission receipt and just pay the remainder . The purchase is a great way of supporting this great FAMILY RAN ZOO . They are helping the conservation of Tigers and Lions . They have one of the largest lion families in Canada . I also noticed on their website that you can get bigger discounts for groups over 20 . If your wondering about Covid 19 . They did everything possible and followed all the rules and regulations set in place by the rules set by the government . I'll say this respectfully.. please treat the animals with kindness when visiting THEIR HOME . I was disgusted to see one of the animals getting taunted . Please report it to the staff if you notice anything. I can't wait to go back .

It is one the best zoo
Very cool place to go! There were way more animals than I expected there to be! I will definitely visit again.
Great opportunity to view the Real Big Cats up close!
Cool place for the kids to get a real up close view of some animals. I don’t know enough about their policies and track record so I’m not sure how ethical it is, it’s hard to find an ethical zoo I would imagine. If you’re into this I suggest it but I also struggle with the whole idea. I try and teach my kids that this isn’t the natural habitat and I tell them that the animals are basically in a hospital. A little white lie to make them understand that this isn’t natural.
Small zoo, we did it twice in 2 hours. Yet, you will never get to see animals that close, specially tigers and lions. Completely in nature and shadowy, kids had so much fun. Staff were very friendly and explained to kids with a smile. We …
Good place
all of these reviews must be fake. the animals have no room to move, and are obviously unhappy. inhumane.
Nice and decent place for kids and good people work here..
Took my grandson there today July 19th 2017 and he had a great time, the stuff was super friendly, the animals were having a nap it was hot we got a chance to see one of the lion's having his bath. Definitely will go again, it's very small compared with African Lion Safari but very well kept, very clean and animals very well taken care of... ????????????????????????
Great place to take little ones. We celebrated Stanley's and Bongos birthday. With an avocado cake.
Great little zoo! Staff was very friendly and informative! Not overly large but great for an afternoon with the kids. Parking is a bit small/tight.
Lions roaring this morning while walking on the rail trail beside the zoo.
We had an amazing time. Staff are super friendly.
The Best place to see Big Cats in Ontario.
Completely inhumane! The animals are housed in inadequate sized enclosures and the entire zoo smells like urine & feces. The large cats are all pacing their small spaces and one of the serval cages was not even locked! I'm embarrassed that I gave my money to support this roadside zoo.
The Killman Zoo is the only place I will bring my children and support! The love and care that goes into this establishment is very obvious. We absolutely love visiting the animals and conversing with the owners! Thank you for taking such great care of all the beautiful creatures at your zoo. We can't wait to be back this year! A lot of the negative reviews are based on what some people may see at the time, such as the animals in small enclosures but don't know there are many other enclosures that have plenty of space and the animals rotate around to get the exercise they need. The majority of these large cats, lions, tigers etc are hand raised and love their owners. On many occasions they will kiss/lick their owners whenever I see them interacting. There is so much more to running a zoo (this isn't just a zoo this is their family) that many people commenting negativity don't see. No one wants to see any animal locked up but I know first hand the Killman family loves and raises these creatures as family!
I cannot believe some of these reviews! Those that are writing disgusting remarks obviously don't know what they are talking about. I've never heard of this zoo before and had the opportunity to go on my son's school trip with him. The love that these owners and staff have for these animals is remarkable. The purring from the large cats when pet by the staff and the kisses/licking of their faces... you cannot tell me that this animal cruelty. These animals are very well taken care of - treated and cared for probably better then at large popular zoo's. Yes the grounds need a bit better upkeep, but for being a privately owned facility with next to no funding... it's immaculate! A must see for families of all ages! We will definitely go back!!
Nice and perfect size to visit!
Amazing little gem of a place...so many big cats and they are also so healthy..does not feel like a zoo one bit..had a great time and felt like a kid ...
When you think of a terrible roadside zoo, the kind of awful ones that are unfortunately legal in Ontario the Killman Zoo is a good example. Basically a farm that has acquired exotic animals. Unlicensed, unaccredited, they do as they please facility with little oversight. Large cats stuck in chicken wire boxes along with small enclosures for all the other animals who have had the misfortune of ending up here for the rest of their lives. I can't think of a worse way to spend your money than coming here and giving it to these people to continue their exploitation of animals.
Have gone there many times since I was a child. Here is a picture of me and the tiger cub called Storm I met when I was 3 or 4. Second picture of him some time later, the picture I took in my second last year of junior high. Very nice zoo, hope to visit there once more next year before I go off to university

I love coming to killman never seen beautiful big cats so close very nice enviroment happy to see they are growing .
Horrible place and the animal were in small disgusting cages.. the animals were in very bad conditions.. this visit made me sad and disappointed in humanity ????????????
The zoo was nice ,my grandkids love this place . 2nd visit this year!
Lots of animals .. does not need a lot of walking and is all naturally shaded
Pretty cool spot, actually it was more relaxing that "exciting" but for me that was a positive. Ya sure you definitely feel a bit bad for the animals, but from what I understand many are rescued or injured so I took it for what it was and had a good time.
Small zoo with so much to see! Staff were informative and we got to see a live feeding!
Fun zoo with healthy animals. We initially went to see big cats but were surprised to see many other animals such as parrots, owls, deers, ferrets, coyotes, goats, etc. Kids will love it. Highly recommended for families with kids.
I had a fabulous time here. Not the largest zoo but the animals are well cared for. They are healthy. They are active and they are up close. They slept away most of the morning but afternoon things got livelier. I spent the day. Staff were awesome. Thanks Ginny! Over all might be the best zoo I've been to because of the up close. Love the Toronto zoo but the animals are far. Not very active ect. Again I highly recommend.. what a great place!
Fun zoo with different big cats and other animals. Ideal place for families with kids. Friendly staff and a cute store to buy toys and other souvenirs. Free parking available.
First of all, this place is smaller than you'd expect. The parking lot, the grounds, the paths, the cages, all of it. There is very little to no signage to direct you to where you're going, or what's where. We found it difficult to navigate and frustrating but the place is small so we eventually figured it out. I'm sure we missed some things but oh well. There was no actual petting area as mentioned in another post. So we purchased 2 bags of peanuts to throw at the animals through the fence (who were allowed to eat them) and also fed the goats through a fence. *This was a total waste as no animal was interested. On the up side they had wagons /push cars to rent for toddlers so I didn't have to lug my stroller through the narrow paths. The picnic tables that are scattered around the grounds (not sure if there was a designated picnic area because there weren't any signs) had one time use plastic table cloths which was helpful. The washrooms are porta pottys at the front gate, I didn't find a change table for my kid. There are no consessions so be sure to pack some snacks and drinks. Overall, it was ok for a one time visit for 2 hours.
The zoo is a must visit. They have lots of beautiful cats, with over 14 lions. You get to enjoy a personable close up look with all the animals. The zoo is built in a forest so there is lots of shade and beautiful nice scenes. It is about 1-1.5 hour walk, we walked it twice. Very nice experience for the price.
It was really good experience to see all different kind of cat!
Great place to spend the day and not brake the bank.
This “zoo” is an animal rights dispute waiting to happen. the large cats, bears and more are kept behind thin wire cages that are horrifically small. all the animals appear so sickly and weak. not only are these conditions unacceptable for these poor animals, it can pose a possible threat to families visiting due to the unsecure cages. I do not recommend supporting this type of animal abuse
Highly disappointed and sad on how small the enclosures were for the big cats. Pretty bad when a 7 year old doesn't want to stay because she feels sad for the animals. Perhaps not have so many big cats and have larger enclosures. We will not be going back.
I took my entire family including my 3 year old, he and we as well had a great time, we are from Toronto and go to the Toronto zoo often, one thing to understand is this is not such a rich and heavily traveled zoo, the Toronto zoo has funders and sponsors and etc. For a privately owned zoo I found Killman zoo to be just fine. Yes some of the enclosures could be larger for the big cats they house there, but many are born there and don't know different, and just like with the Toronto zoo, the more people visiting and buy stuff and etc the better funds to care for the Animals. So from me I encourage u to visit and enjoy the animals, each one these people know personally and I think that's important, flashy housing is just that, at the end of the day the care taken and given to the animals is the most important
Great zoo. The employee are friendly and know a lot about the animals. Great place to came with your kids an family. ???????????????? Is an small zoo, but you can see the animals closely. You can park outside of the park on the street, because the parking lot is small but it I free. They have wash hands station and portable washroom ???? Definitely we coming back soon.
Fantastic place, a lot of fun and see animals very up close. The big cats are all well loved, and you can see the affection they have towards the owners.
Nice to see animals up close but a few of the enclosures are a bit too small for the bigger animals but would definitely go again. Staff is helpful and friendly.
Great spot!! Lots of big cats and other exciting animals to see - birds, monkeys, etc.. Also nice and shady throughout. Many of the animals were very active when we went - it had rained the night before and we went first thing in the morning. It was so cool to see them all moving around and making noise! Can't wait to visit again.
I had the opportunity to interact with some of the lion cubs they have there. I highly recommend making an appointment to do the same. There are several other exotic animals there that you can get up close to as well.
Amazing Cat sanctuary and zoo the staff are all amazing,I had the pleasure to get a personal tour by Fahad and Sage.It was very educational and highly recomnend any real cat lovers to go check it out!!!!!
Very fun amd cool lots of cats. Wosh more monkeys prices are good in like that you could feed some of the animals
Its outstanding that in the current situation of Covid that they have managed to stay open and in such a way that you can still enjoy looking at their animals. My young children really enjoyed themselves, even with lacking attention spans.
We had FUN!
Had a great time here today with a couple of friends, everyone was extremely helpful and kind, and the animals look to be in good hands. I definitely recommend stopping in to relax for a while! So peaceful here!
Good to see big cats so close.
This was a refreshing experience. Tucked away in nature, my son enjoyed the experience and so did I. If you haven't been, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
This is a fantastic place.. friends of ours told us about it and we are so that we came. You get to see the lions and tigers very close up and the zoo is sooo peaceful and relaxing you feel like it’s a walk in the forest. It is well worthwhile bringing your family here. We will be back and looking forward to joining there Facebook group.... this local business deserves your support
We arrived to the zoo just before it closed. The staff and I believe the owner, allowed us to come in, stay late and they even fed and petted and played with some of the animals. It was such a wonderful treat for both my granddaughter and I. My granddaughter said she had the best time ever and she is only 3. Thanks to all, that made our day so special!!! <3
Was a real humbling experience being so close to a 600lb beast with only wht looks like chicken wire and 7 feet of sepperation. But seriously is a great place to bring ur kids especially if they love the big cats
Lots of animals with good variety and close-up habitats. The staff are friendly and the animals seem happy. Was much more than what I originally expected.
My favourite Zoo by far! I have been coming here since I was a kid. And no other zoo gives you the opportunity to be so close to the big cats. It is amazing how one summer you can go see the baby cubs get bottle fed, and the next they're huge! It is great to see when Killman comes through the zoo and all the big cats he raised act like baby house cats rolling around for his affection. It is beautiful to see! Also, Gina the bear with her "up Gina up" trick is so much fun! My favourite Zoo to visit!

Beautiful park, amazing animals
An excellent place to spend a day - check their big cat feeding schedule before you go and make sure tou don't miss it - Went today cars were fed frozen chicken n o boy - after they ate one of them roared which triggered a chain reaction - full zoo was a jungle scene - roars coming from every corner from monkeys squeaks to birds chirps and off corse at least 4-5 male and female lions roaring at the same time was an experience I have never had before ---hardly a minute but it was worth it !!!!

Employees were all super friendly and Knowledgable. We had a great time and also it is stroller friendly :-)
You can watch animals up close. A lot of big cats
Very small zoo that only has about an hour to an hour and a half of viewing time. Bring bug spray as mosquitoes eat you alive.
Great way to see lions, tigers and other animals up close!
Awesome place ....lots of cats ....
Alittle cramped but amazing place.
Great little zoo, nice and shady from the trees, cute little snack bar with affordable snacks
Great facility with friendly staff. Animals are well taken care of. They look very healthy and happy. Got some great photos!
Love this so much, people here are so nice
It was nice day for zoo.
Friendly and effective staff. Great prices for admission and a wonderful way to treat the family or loved ones. Going back soon.
The zoo is in a nice location and a small one that is not too crowded, which is great. However, personally I feel it could be maintained better. This was my first time visiting, so not sure if Covid played any role in how it is being maintained. The animals do have very small enclosures.
My Kids love it
It's good but these wild animals are kept really close to humans although well caged. It was kinda scary. It takes about 2 hours to cover the entire zoo
Clean well kept Zoo. Kid friendly.
I love this zoo. The animals are being well cared for and rehabilitated. Amazing animals
Awesome place. Better than Toronto zoo to see the big cats.
Wish there was more things to do but great place to see the big cats
A decent amount of animals that look mostly cared for but the place is really run down looking. It needs an update and some maintenance.
One of the best zoo's I've ever visited. Killman Zoo offers a variety of animals to look and interact with and unlike most other zoo's, the animals aren't kept behind thick glass windows 6 meters away. Instead, you get to see them up close and personal, often times you're able to see many of the animals such as tigers, lions or baboons directly in front of you. This plus the fact that the grounds are kept very well and have a sense of wilderness to them really immerse you into thinking you're somewhere else completely. If you take your time going through the zoo and appreciating everything there is too see you may get the chance to hear all of the animals making noise at once—it's an experience unlike any other. The owners, staff and volunteers that are able to make this all happen are incredible. You can tell they work hard to make their guests happy and their animals even happier.
A wonderful place the spend quality time with family. Lots to see and great place for a packed lunch.
Feel bad for these animals living in such tiny cages
Didnt have to wear a mask! Staff were great Got to see the monkeys being fed and learned some facts well there
Way bigger than expected, and tons of animals.
Amazing and beautiful little zoo Great for small children
best zoo ever.
A great place to see lots of different animals and learn about them.
Nice place to visit. Great place to see wild life so closely.
Very good
Better than most small zoos. I found it great for small children and it is right near a trail if you want to make it a afternoon.
Good place for families
Wonderful experience! Beautiful healthy animals!!
lots of big cats but they are in such small cages and clearly stressed out. it's really kind of sad.
I have been going to this zoo ever since I was very young -- pretty much when it opened in the 1980s! In spite of the PeTAesque complaints, the animals *are* very well looked after; sure, the enclosures aren't the million dollar jobs you see at Toronto zoo, but the animals are healthy and content; some are even rescues; I sadly can't say the same about some pets that people "own"! There's a wide assortment of animals from wolves (black wolves; I remember Judy the old black wolf) to a variety of cats and primates.
Great zoo! I love it!
The best!
Enclosures too small !!!
A lot of "big cats" but you can walk through the entire place in less than 30 minutes... And that's with 3 children in tow
Lots of big cats!! It had lots of trees for shade so it didn't feel as hot.
Absolutely horrendous!! They clearly care more about profits than the animals. Please do not support this obvious cruelty. Those poor animals
It was my first time here. I had a great time, loved to see the big cats up close...it will be nice to see when they are able to expand the jag cage, covid 19 sucks because it's pure a damper on being able to interact more but it's better than nothing! It's awesome here and the staff are so nice, without being fake.
It's a great zoo and despite what a few people will comment, the animals are super well taken care of. Yes I agree the enclosures are not the largest like the Toronto zoo but they are well fed and well taken care of. A lot of these animals are rescues as well.
Amazing place, very enjoyable for all ages
Awesome Zoo; well run. Where else can you be so close to such great animals. The workers have alot of knowledge and really care about the animals.
Great afternoon, saw gorgeous big cats, many were rescued. No food last week, but snack bar opening soon with new trail.
Amazing place and amazing staff. Love all the big cats
Takes about 2 hours to walk through the park. Most of the path is shaded which is a bonus. And there is a nice variety of big cats to see.
I went there 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. I've moved back to Toronto so will visit soon.
Lovely little zoo! Animals are well cared for.
absolutely recommended this place for everyone uts amazing
Love it, the staff was very helpful, always explaining everything about the animals, it was a great experience ????
Amazing zoo especially if you love big cats! Its a smaller zoo but the way the enclosures are designed, you are able to get right up close to see the cats (sometimes its a bit intimidating!) You can definitely see everything within 2 hours and the trails are shaded. There seems to be misunderstandings regarding the size of the enclosures and people saying they are too small - if you go during the cat feedings the staff will tell you that all the cats take turns going into a bigger field, they are not permanently confined to their smaller areas. They all seem very well taken care of by the dedicated staff here. Overall such an amazing experience i will definitely be back :)
Very beautiful place to visit on a sunny weekend kids will definitely enjoy it,, a very welcoming staff and reasonable entry fees for adults and children,, free parking,, location is not far from the main highway 6 north and very close to caledonia,, the place is verey clean,, the staff work hard to care about animals,, children can buy peanut at the entrance and enjoy feeding some animals who are not allergic to it.. there is also a facility to wash hands with soap and water,, portable toilet are available,, the place is accessible for wheelchairs and elderly people,, I have visited this Zoo more than four times with my children and I recommend it for everyone to visit and enjoy.
Had a great time. Nice place to go and see so many animal and relax by doing it. I would go again.
Kids love this place and pritty cheap price is 19.50 for adults and 11 for kids
Was absolutely fantastic. Took my 18 month old and he was able to wonder freely. Animals are amazing and there is a nice variety.
Took my kids here on Tuesday and it was such a great experience. Kind staff, reasonable entry pricing and the facility itself was cool. Very close to all the animals and I like that we could feed some of the animals on site and it wasn’t busy at all. We will visit again :)
Loved the interaction with the staff and how much they care for the big cats. Amazing experience being that close to the the animals. But some of the smaller cats seemed squished in too small of cages and one was miserable and couldnt get away from the flys biting him.
I spent a few hours at the Killman Zoo with my 6 year old daughter, and her friend, and it was a wonderful experience. The owners and caretakers give so much love and affection towards their animals. I was informed that they operate more like an animal sanctuary for sick or injured animals, and they do take great care of their animals. All of their animals were beautiful. I will definitely visit again. Very reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly and interactive with both their animals, and with the customers. We also went for a nice long walk on a provincial trail, located right beside The Killman Zoo, after we were finished, so that was a nice bonus of activities to keep our kids busy!
Small but nice zoo
We love this place,
An amazing zoo. I didn't realize how big it is and the amount of animals they have. My kids absolutely loved! The staff are all super friendly. Big big thank you to Ginnie, who so patiently answered all of my kid's questions. What a great place to spend a few hours! ????
Staff is very friendly and kids really enjoyed
Awesome place to visit! Super friendly staff and a great place to get out of the house.
This is not a Zoo.. It is a sanctuary...a little piece of heaven tucked away in a beautiful, natural setting. The animals look well cared for, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. A wonderful place to wander for a few hours; every turn in the path brings a new surprise! Perfect for children or adults with limited walking ability, as it is not too large. We loved it!
not impressed with the lack of care to state that they are closed on their website. drove 2 hours because it said open, got there and they closed due to weather.. it's 15° and sunny partly cloudy ..
Nice place to be...friendly staff
Very cool that this exist in the area!
Amazing place! To Amanda's point, all the negative reviews truly don't understand what a sanctuary is. I am happy that this "Zoo" was so natural, nothing is paved and the staff ensured to take care of path ways and indicate where guests need to be careful. (Tree roots are marked so no one trips) This was great for my 2 year old daughter, she was extremely intrigued by how close we were to some of these fantastic animals. We are already planning our next visit! Thank you to the staff for making this Zoo trip really feel like we stepped into the home of these animals.
Had a lovely time here with the kids.
Been here twice, once in 07 and now in Oct 16. These animals are well taken care of and the zoo really tries it's best with what it's got. Nowhere will you get as close to a large tiger or lion as you will here. I do understand the argument that the cages are small but there is a large area that the animals takes turns going in. If they could, the zoo would likely have larger cages if they could, but its a cost balance. Also, these animals would not be alive and would never of gotten a chance without this place. All staff were friendly and things felt very safe as all cages are locked by key and there is a standoff fence so that you cannot get within touching distance of the cages. The activist's will never endorse a place like this and that is understandable, however I feel the positive benefits outweigh the negatives. We spent an 1 and a 1/2 at the zoo and found it to be very informative. The cost of admission is reasonable and nobody from the zoo bothers you or pressures you into buying something you don't want. We will be back again soon.
Nice small zoo, come with big and small animals, like Jungle cat world. The only thing missing is the sign outside of the zoo, hard to find the enter.
Love the zoo. My son always loves the big cats and the feed. We have come a few times to meet the new cubs. We will be back.. Thanks Mark and Joeanne.
Pleasently surprised. I have heard some negative things about this place but we enjoyed our visit. Only complaint is price. I don't mind paying a bit extra knowing it is going to feed the animals but I was a little surprised when the price was about the same as larger scale zoos when you can walk through this one in about an hour - some signage would be nice too! So that you're customers can learn (and a map. Got lost but not a big deal)
It's our second time visiting this place. My husband and I love it. I really like that the zoo is located in the forest, so during hot days, you can find lots of shade. The animals are well taken cared of. Also, very important for me....there are not many visitors, so it's really quiet and relaxed....I am not a big fan of crowded places. The admission fee is fair $ 19.50 per person and it's worth it. We will definitely be back.
The owners didn't try to spend any effort to make this place look any better. for a family of 2 Adults and 2 kids you will spend $53 access fees which is really way too much for what you will get. This place looks so ugly with minimal green areas. the animals are within cages with many internal doors where you might not even see them because they are moving to back rooms. the ramps joining different areas are unsafe for kids if they want to walk or run on their own. Just wasted time & money going there.
Great place to see Big Cats
Totally different experience thank a big zoo .much more up close and personal.
Awesome place...Honestly I never thought there was zoo soo close to where I live
Don't you think those cats cages are too small???? I checked your photos and I think that's ridiculous and pretty sad to look at those beautiful animals whose must spend all their life in prison.
This zoo has gone downhill, there were a number of piles of garbage around, the cages were unclean and the zoo had a very foul stench. Walking at a normal pace it took 20 minutes to walk the entire zoo that’s a dollar a minute per person not well spent. To make matters worse in the Patagonia Cavy enclosure there was a rabbit with the Cavy. I’m not sure if this was trying to be passed as a Cavy or if the rabbit was simply to fill empty space in the cage. I was very disappointed to see this. Furthermore there were lions being kept in 10x10 cages. I would not return and I don’t recommend it
Wasn't well maintained and pretty small in size. Not much animals compared to admission fee.
My boyfriend and I went to Killman Zoo on Saturday as we drove by the sign on the highway and thought it would be a fun stop. It was AMAZING! The animals seemed to have plenty of room in their enclosures, and the staff was clearly passionate about what they did! The volunteers were super nice, and would talk to us about how much they loved to volunteer or about the personalities of each animal. Definitely recommend this place, and get peanuts to feed some of the animals as it was a really cool experience!
Awesome Zoo! Highly recommend. Clean, affordable, and you can actually see animals close.
Staff were very friendly and conversational.
The animals are very well taking care of. Employees are friendly. Our family loves to visit yearly to see the changes that have been made and see the animals grow. Great place to visit.
Always an amazing experience here.
Went to Killman Zoo today (Sept 6th 2016) and closed!!!! Our families came from different areas and some distance to only find out closed. No where on Web-Site does it say closed. And Google Web-site says "Open Today" from 10am-5pm. We called the Killman Zoo number, while sitting outside the gate to hear a voice recording saying Close Tues Wed Thurs Fri So people call ahead!!! Not only are the kids disappointed, but the gas and travel time to get there. Some of our family came from Niagara Falls area.
As an animal lover it was such a great experience visiting this zoo. Such close look at the animals and the zoo is a lot bigger than I expected. You can see how well they treat the animals. Monkeys & turtles were being fed fresh fruits!!? Animals look happy and you can tell they are taken care of. Staff are very nice! Definitely recommend.
My family and I go every year. Nice place to go for a few hours. Staff always friendly.
Zoo like
I've been to the Killman Zoo a couple times and it saddens me to think there are people who would actually choose to write a bad review knowing how wonderful this place is. The staff is like family and you can tell they genuinely care about the animals. I would highly recommend this zoo for anyone who loves big cats and other types of exotic animals!
Good place to visit with kids. Family of 4 cost around $52. Parking is free. They have good selection of cats
Friendly staff healthy looking animals very pretty zoo lots of cats love the tigers and lions. This zoo is worth the time as your really close to the animals.
Good place to visit with your family, you can see the big cats closer. Nicely maintained and beautiful walkways
Great place for kids of all ages to see and enjoy the bug cats
Visited the Zoo today, it was fantastic! Just long enough for 3 kids. You can see the love between the animals and the workers, one of the workers as soon as he walked near, a lion got so excited and came for him to pet/scratch him! The massive run area with the pond, trees and climbing posts is SO great to see! The animals were playing with balls and running around, in a more natural setting. Loved it!! We will 100% be back!
Great place, small and therefore perfect for young children. Beautiful drive to get there. Only wish there was better washroom accommodations/ change table option.
Wish there were petting animals to touch
I’m honestly really confused about all Of these glowing reviews. I left this place feeling sad for these animals! The cages are way too small for these large cats. All of the animals appear depressed. They just pace around in their tiny cages. I will never ever go there again.
Great family outing. They have lots of lions and other cool animals like Lemurs, monkeys, wild boar, tigers, jaguars etc. My toddler loved it. Only downer is that items in the gift shop are way too expensive. Perhaps, instead of having too many stuffies, maybe sell pics of the animals.. This would be a great souvenir.
Great place lots of animals
Such a great atmosphere and the animals are so healthy and happy looking and all the staff was so helpful. We will definitely be going back.
Great place ,
We had a great time, easy to walk around, kids enjoyed feeding the goats and deers. Certainly will be back again.
This is my favorite place to go. All the animals are healthy and well loved. Never too crowded. I'll love to have the opportunity to have a personal tour and maybe get to meet the animals.
Awesome atmosphere, and so many animals gotta see the white lion cubs, and bongo the baboon is great so much personality.
Very friendly staff. Perfect size for little one!!
Perfect for a family activity and especially for toddlers
I took my Grandchildren to the Zoo for a visit. It was wonderful! We had so much fun getting to know all about the animals and even getting to pet some. What a great family outing.
Way Too small enclosures for the animals
Great place to pass the day great and friendly staff thanks again
Small but nice
Great place for the family, enjoy.
All it takes is a quick Google search to see the horrid conditions these cats live in. A review from a customer left the owner of the company commenting and they were very rude to that person who left the review. Upset at the truth? My mom used to bring my nephew here and I taught my nephew about animals for entertainment and how they arent given the same life as wild animals, my mom and him no longer visit. I'm all for education and having a big cat sanctuary but think of the animals happiness before your money. I'm spreading the word and sharing images from your zoo to make sure you don't get visitors. Head over to African Lion Safari everyone :)! The animals look happy, safe and have tons of room to roam.
Nice family zoo
Nice zoo but limited spacing and not good signage Parking lot is very small overpriced for the amount of animals you see
Me and my family of four loved the visit . My 3 year old sister loved it the most. There were a lot of cat species and all animals looked clean and well taken care of . Clean area and a picturesque environment . The staff were very friendly . The best thing was they had a gift shop which sold cool shirts . The passed away bear will be well remembered because of the note put up there.
Good place to take kids, small zoo with mostly cats and few other animals and birds, love the physical distancing posts with animals. Friendly staff!

Amazing zoo!!!
Sad place no tour guide only one girl at front dont practice safety
It was good to see animals , lots of lions, it poured on us half way through but the one girl on way out offered a stamp to come back by end of day if it gets sunny. Very friendly staff
Quite a little surprise out in the country. Great place for a birthday party. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. Our group enjoyed a guided tour, watched the big cats and lemurs being fed, and then had a pizza party in the picnic area.
I like it
Do not go here and promote this horrific business. This place is awful. We left feeling depressed, hopless and sad. The animals live in tiny baren cages that are all packed into a small area of land. The animals look miserable, thin and lonely. We observed many of the animals pacing around their small cages over and over or acting distressed and aggrivated. The place itself is dirty, unkept and cluttered with junk. These poor animals deserve better and this place should be shut down. Absolutely disgusting conditions and these beautiful animals deserve respect. The regulations and laws to protect animals are not in place and its sad to see places like this getting away with this animal cruelty, even after failing reviews with animal protection agencies.
Great improvements since I was there over 20 years ago. Lots of trees for shade during your walk. Also best place I know of where you can be close to the big cats but with the double fencing safety.
Awesome place you get up close to the animals
sad depressing and dirty!! the cages are to small for the animals there dirty and stink like urine!! this place needs to be shut down! all these fake reviews are rediculous
Great small Zoo to enjoy with the family, amazing Lions everywhere.
Great place for toddlers
The animals are close to you & are very friendly. The gated, guided, path you follow makes the Zoo organized & easy to view every animal, especially when viewing/walking through with a toddler.
Love it. Easy to see all the animals and the feeding show they put on is awesome. I've been coming here since I was about 5 years old and now I'm bringing my son!
Nice staff... amazing animals
Seeing the lions in small cages and no ability to run around and exercise is very SAD. I'm still going to make a donation. I recently visited the Miami zoo and was happy to see lions able to run around and not in a cage. Go to Africa to the serengeti the lions are roaming around acre's and acres of land. Traveler ????
Love this little zoo. You are able to get so close and it's a good size to walk around even with young ones.
Amazing zoo with lots too see ..the roars of the big cats were thrilling ..not alot of walking and the area was fairly comfortable under all the trees ...worth the trip and the cost is very reasonable ..
We had an amazing time with our Granddaughter. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return again.
Great little zoo with lots of big cats
Was my first time at killman zoo, if you like big cats, it is definitely the place to go! We walked through twice, the staff were super friendly and answered all questions we had, 10/10 would love to go back, i just wish i could pet the tigers and lions ;)
Awesome for a mini zoo. So many big cats as well as other animals. Nice gift shop. They also provide wagons. Great experience especially for my little ones. Definitely recommend.
Animals seem really active. The big tiger growled at us and scared my kids.
They take good care of the animals.
If you can arrange for someone to give you a guided tour it enriches the experience. Lovely people.
Wondering experience! The kids loved it and so did we. You can easily spend 3 hours there.
A great place to go. Nice staff, always fun to go walk around.
Love to visit every year. Was a great surprise to meet this little one.
Brings you up close and personal to these beautiful cats. The staff will always stop and answer any questions you have another the animals in the zoo. Highly recommended if you are into wild cats
This place is tragic. The animals are in small enclosures, pacing in circles. Ive never been so disturbed by a "zoo" before in my life. I tried to ask an attendant (in a pleasnt non accusatory way) about a birds OBVIOUS loss of feathers (which to me, with bird experience, its stress) they made up some bull story about how the bird loses feathers when the nights are cold. I came back a second time with a friend and she was just as disturbed. The wolves run in a circle pacing. The lions pace in their cells. And they are cells.
Loved this zoo, so worth the drive!
cages to small for animals needs shut down
Closed permanently.
Alot of tigers & lions ...prices are good too.
Honestly everyone needs to go and check out the upgrades!
Amazing zoo! Caretakers love the animals, and they look well taken care of. Beautiful animals!
Love this place. Mr killman was good friend of my grandfather. Sorry for the loss of Gina bear. Will be back again to bring new folks
(Translated) Interesting place (Original) Ciekawe miejsce
Little confusing corn maze exploring due to covid still seen everything I think they shud have maps on pamphlets
Little confusing corn maze exploring due to covid still seen everything I think they shud have maps on pamphlets
Beautiful, shaded atmosphere with super friendly staff and well cared for animals
Great place for kids and adults both.
DO NOT HESITATE!! Please do take out time and support this place and please visit! Much better than going to the Toronto zoo !
This place is a diamond in the rough. If I didnt know people from the area I wouldn't have found it. Highly recommend
Went with my work company, childcare, only two bathrooms and port a potties. Okay variety of animals but some of the cages seemed too small for the animal. One male tiger was not happy and sprayed at our group of kids. A small place not suited for a large amount of people. Friendly staff and tried to explain the animals to the children. Random people kept feeding peanuts to animals, not good especially for the animals and those with allergies. Signs even posted not to feed the animals peanuts!
I always enjoy going to this little zoo. The staff are always great and are happy to stop and answer any questions that you have. The animals are much closer up than in your typical zoo and you can see that the staff have relationships with the animals so I feel confident that they have the best care possible.
Nice little zoo lots of cats great for kids lots of places to have lunch
Awesome zoo with great trails and friendly staff
I took the family there today , it was great and staff was excellent ! Highly recommend
Animals were amazing
My daughter and I enjoy visiting The Killman Zoo! It’s amazing to see all the beautiful, well kept animals that are so close to home! Love the cute little shop. Prices are reasonable.
I didn't see a man get killed and yet the Zoo was called Killman. False Advertising. Fake News.
Loved it. Great experience. Staff was very knowledgeable and through further conversation finding out future plans for the animals and where they get to run outside of their 'homes' was great. Great interactions. Will go again.
Love it here
amazing zoo like no other -a few min outside of Hamilton. would recommend visting them. everything there has been built by hand(all buildings/cages, walkways, fencing post ), so think of how many man hours they spend building/fixing things(keep that in mind when walking around. they have been remodeling the cages so of you havnt been there in a few years check out the new difference. ALL the animals are very well looked after and you can tell. staff/owners are wonderful and friendly. they rescue alot of animals - they are saving these creatures lives when taking them in. they cherish their creatures so much that they honoured their beloved black bear (Gina) with a snack shack (since she loved her snacks). the lions and bobcats are part of the generation of the first ones who came to the zoo (sanctuary) when it first started and they were rescues. they are loved just as much as a person loves their own pet if not more. if anything the creatures there have it made. - they don't need to worry about when they will find food and water next. they just run, play and mate if they like, which sounds like what a few people do (playing video games in parents basment) the owneres are there working everyday now how many zoos can you go to and ask the owners questions the same day you visit. if you don't like something, before you judge ask them and see maybe they already have plans to change it. donations will help alot. the wonderful comments you read are not fake! come see for yourself.
Amazing
Misleading name for a Zoo. Glad to know they do not harm any of the animals.
Nice walk, all in trees and great for kids
You can get so close to the animals! It was amazing to see dandelion the lion playing in the open area with her giant water bottle. Staff was very friendly. My kids and I had a lovely day walking around. ????
So sad, how these beautiful creatures live????
Awesome zoo, lots of big cats.
A nice little zoo, well kept and there are some beautiful cats there!
Was sad to see how small the cages are for the cats..I don't agree with the conditions these animals live in day in and day out. Sad to see them pacing back and forth. I think the only enclosure I saw that was adequate was for the ferrets...won't be teaching my children that these places are ok..change needs to happen for these poor animals who are only caged for the amusement of humans...
Always a nice place to visit. Owner takes care of the animals all year so that is great!
Fun for a day trip
Very healthy animals good for a small trip to see up close and personal Big cats... Well done
We had a great time here lots of big and small cats to see with some other smaller animals. You get to be very close to these cats, unlike other zoos. We were there when the animals were being fed. That was a sight to see. Parking is free, but limited, or you can park on the road and walk inside.
Very extensive. Diverse population of animals, including many large cats. Friendly staff.
Really enjoyed seeing the white tiger. And the feeding was amazing to see these animal in a natural habitat.
You can get VERY close to the animals. They seem well taken care of, healthy and active.
All animals were sleeping not a lot of variety
The animals there at the zoo amazing
Awesome place to go with the kids.
Imagine being stuck in quarantine your whole life. After COVID-19 I would hope humans would have more empathy for all the animals ensalved in Zoo's. ????????♀️????
Animals look in great shape, and there were alot more then we were expecting on our first visit. You can tell the staff cares about them.
Awesome little zoo with some very big animals!...Lions, Tigers, Jaguars, Wolves!....wow! The kids loved it!
Visited today and I am so sad that I walked all the way through to see these animals so sad and depressed. Just lying down or pacing around nervously (the hand full of animals that was actually walking around) I felt so bad not turning around after seeing the first couple of very small cages for these magnificent beasts. The animals all seemed dazed and there was a very bad smell, probably because of the small size of the “zoo” I am sure that they are trying to create a sanctuary for these animals and that they trying their best during these trying times. But unfortunately I will not recommend my friends to visit. :(
Took little over a hour, lots of shade.
Great zoo you are very close to all the animals. Would highly reccomend.
Much bigger and better than we anticipated. If you like Lions and tigers there’s lots, real close!
Great place, well maintained animals well looked after
Very cute zoo lots of animals too see. The best 20 dollars i spent in my life lololo. I wish you guys have more videos posted of your animals on facebook for people too see on the site. ????
Great place if you want to experience big cats up close. I visit this place for photography since most of the cats are active and upclose. Friendly staff and the location is great.
My GOD!! people promoting this place MUST be friends of the owners saddest place with animals EVER! they must be shut down! my two teen aged children wanted to leave and were crying after 5 minutes! don't allow this torture to go on!
Had such a great day! What an amazing sanctuary for these animals! Great for kids too because all the animals are super close and active so there is tons for them to see. The owner, Mark, was there to answer any of our questions and you can tell he is devoted to the animals! Will be back 100% & will spread the word about this hidden gem.
Variety of animals however they are in small enclosures. Bred in captivity.
the staff was very nice and the animals are beautiful
Loved it
I love this place. Sometimes you can really get a close up view of the animals... but sometimes they are far away in the wide open space they have in the back to roam around. On certain days you get to watch feedings to the big cats. Sometimes the workers will bring out snakes or small animals that you can hold... it's really cool. Definitely recommend
I have visited the Zoo on a couple occasions. Each time was very enjoyable. The staff is incredibly polite, and extremely friendly. As mentioned by many people they have tried to make the Zoo feel as natural as possible, almost as if you are walking in a forest. Also, if you ever have a chance to bump into the owners they are great and more than willing to educate you and tell you stories about the animals and the zoo itself. I look forward to visiting in the near future.
Always a great experience!
My daughter is 10 months and she loved seeing the animals. I enjoyed myself as well. Great place and will go back many more times.
Absolute nightmare of a place...it smelt disgusting and you could totally tell it was one of those breeding mills. Horrible place disguised as a “sanctuary”
What a great experience. I wasn't even going to leave a review but I saw someone complain about the price.... I met the owner on my visit... he was elbow deep, cleaning up one of the cat pens, somehow I dont think he got into the business to be rich. The price of admission pays to feed the animals and pays for staffing, didn't see any staff owned luxury cars in the lot. Use your brains before you post silly reviews people. Thank you to the killman zoo staff for being wonderful and welcoming to my family on our first visit. We will be back!
Awesome large cats..great day out
Why are these magnificent animals living in small cages for us to stare for entertainment??? Be ashamed of yourself!
This place is horrific! This is a miserable, unethical roadside zoo. Your enjoyment or your children’s enjoyment is far less important than the suffering of animals taking place here. The enclosures are insanely small cages that are far too small for the large cats here. The animals all appear depressed. It is not worth it to support this grossly unethical business.
So much fun. The big cats are so close to you, and the staff are super friendly. And here's a tip, every sunday at 3 they do a live feeding for all of their big cats. We went on a Saturday, unfortunately, but best believe I WILL go on a sunday. That would be so fun to see!!
Very cute zoo! You can see all the animals upclose! Addmisson fees are reasonable. They need a bigger sign outside on unity rd beacuse you may miss the Zoo. They also need more washrooms around the zoo... Best in Ontario!
Great staff, a wonderful chance to share this experience with my Grandchild
Love this place. Support local
Went here last summer the enclosures are pitiful. Makes me think of how they would cage the animals in a 1920's circus sideshow. There is not near enough money pumped into this place to adequately sustain comfortable living for these poor animals. SHUT IT DOWN!
Really great little zoo!
Great little gem! Pricing is very reasonable and the kids loved seeing the animals up close!!
They take care of the animals very fun place to go family and friends especially on Sunday afternoon when they feed the cats
Love the animals especially the wild cats. And my girl Penelope. Held her in my arms when she was months old. I visit at least once a month. Thank-you for the wonderful experience.
I could spend all day here
AUGUST 19, 2020 YESTERDAY I STOPPED INTO CHECK OUT KILLMAN ZOO AND I MUST SAY I AM SO THANKFUL I DID. THIS ZOO IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. FIRST THE STAFF WERE SO PROFESSIONAL EVEN DURING THE PANDEMIC. THEY MADE EVERY EFFORT TO MAKE SURE THEY WERE AVAILABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS. THEIR DISPLAY EXIBITS FOR THE ANIMALS WERE EXTREMELY WELL LAID OUT FOR GREAT VIEWING. THE OWNERS EVEN WALKED AROUND AND MADE EVERYONE FEEL WELCOMED AND APPRECIATED FOR ATTENDING. WHAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE A QUICK VISIT TURNED OUT TO BE AN 8 HOUR VISIT AND TRULY CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK WITH MY SON. THANKS FOR THE AMAZING EXPERIENCE.
Good privately owned zoo!
Amazing staff! Amazing zoo ! Cant wait to go again !
Needs more variety of animals but they had amazing number of felines
We don’t go here very often, but when we do I am always amazed at how much better it has gotten since the last one I went. They keep adding areas, and expanding. Love this place it is definitely worth the half a day to walk around and experience the animals.
Great Zoo to visit, able to get very close to the animals. Animals are very well taken care of as I have watched the owners clean, water and feed. Littel known fact the animals kept in captivity live longer!
It was a wonderful place bigger than I expected and lots of wonderful cats
Amazing well kept animals in a shady Forrest setting.
Great place to visit. Staff very friendly and could ask them all the questions you wanted, they would answer them no problem. Lots and lots of animals to look at. Will definitely return.
Small family owned zoo, very up close to animal exhibits. Can feed goats and monkeys.
Drove an hour to get here and it was well worth the drive and entrance fee. They focus more on large cats but do have tons more. We went on a sunday afternoon at 3 pm they fed all the large cats! It was so cool to see and learn about their personalities from the workers. They have lots of little gifts at the gift shop. No actual washrooms but they have wheelchair accessable porta poties and i must say they were clean and didnt stink. Overall it was a great place lots of shade and seating along they paths.
The workers were great and very nice place
Great place. Storm was huge!!
Staff were very friendly and conversational.
