It's worth a visit, but felt like there could have been more.

Jeff Abbott

Great history of the Banff area

Sam So

Interesting musuem of landscapes painting reminding me of the group of 7

This museum often hosts art exhibits. We were lucky enough to see an exhibit with photographs to represent the history of Alberta. Most features have a video and/or audio component. I truly enjoyed the CP rail, helicopters, animal preservation, local news and comic sections. There were so many more. Strongly recommend going, and if you love museums this is a two to three day exhibit. If you're a bit more of a quick viewer, 2 hours should do it.

A treat for visitors to Banff that helps complete the picture of who was instrumental in developing the area. Amazing art gallery, artifacts on mountain climbing and rescue, area development, early settlers. 2 early homes on the premises, not open to the public, scheduled tours might be available or arranged.

Interesting little museum with lots of history of Banff and the Rockies. I really enjoyed the photos of early explorers who created the hiking trails in the area and built lodges like Skoki. We visited while the bridle display was on which I really enjoyed. A lot of artwork mixed with the history of humans and horses in the area. There is also a lovely walk behind the museum along the river. The gift shop has all kinds of stuff.

This museum is really good, considering it’s location in a small town. There are lots of galleries and exhibitions to see here. The Whyte family, Banff history, paintings and some contemporary art made by local artists. For a $10 fee, I think it’s worth it. The gallery have been well kept and most of the artifacts, paintings and rare items are nicely preserved. This is a good additional activity in Banff if you’re not into Skiing or hiking. We went on Saturday noon and it was just me and my partner the whole time.

If you're into art, particularly paintings of landscapes and scenery you have to make sure you check this place out. It's also a great place to visit if you want to know some history about Banff and it's people. This particular museum focuses more on the family the museum namesake is named after but after leaving you can still feel it's historical value.

(Translated) Well~ This is the history of how the museum discovered Loki and made it now. Unlike Ulnara, their history is a story of natural development. Suddenly, Japanese art was introduced there, and my younger brother, who majored in art, seriously explained how Japanese art influenced the history of Western art. It was really fun. If you compare the paintings of the pioneering days of Canada and the Japanese woodblock prints, there is a significant difference in level! It will be beneficial to those who know that. For me, Japanese art is the most memorable than the history of pioneering Rocky. We also checked the influence of Japanese culture, which we do not appreciate highly, on the West, and understood why Japan is so familiar with Western culture.

(Translated) The staff is very kind and friendly, but I personally don't feel very much about this museum. Tickets are 10 plus, half-price if working in Banff. However, the magnets and postcards in the gift shop are worth digging, which is obviously different from the postcards on the street. Good place to go when visiting Banff. 10 dollars entrance adults and under 12 free entrance. Not too big. But many interesting things to see about the history of the region. Outside for free you can walk around and see some historic houses moved to the museum. Recommended. The bison dump on a frame from 1800's was something to see LOL. And in the way in you may see a couple of regular visitors from the wild. (See pictures)

Jodie Pack

It was a decent museum, but it seemed to centre on a couple of rich families, not a general history of the area. The art was nice. Most disappointing was the fact that this museum was not family friendly. Strollers are not allowed, so it was annoying to have to chase a toddler around with very little for him to see or do. Additionally, My 11 and 6 year old were listening to an audio description of a display and there were curse words in the recording. Ridiculous.
