I honestly don't write a lot of reviews on Google, but I feel that when you're completely mind-blown with an experience like we had today, you need to make some effort and recognize the good. This man, Daniel, is a fantastic human being with a wealth of knowledge. You CANNOT miss his tour of the wildlife exhibit even if you live a few hours away. Although the wildlife exhibit is not a big area, we ended up spending almost 2 hours in there with Daniel, all along learning so much about the various animals exhibited in there. His passion for animals and his politeness toward people is what keeps you involved. You won't find this much information even at the zoo and it's for a fraction of the cost you'd spend at the zoo. Make sure Daniel is working when you plan a visit, even if you have to call in and check. And no, he did not ask me to write this review on Google. In fact, it was the other way around, I had to ask him to oblige for a picture! Will be visiting again very soon.

We went mainly to see the wildlife exhibit, and were very disappointed. Although it was very well set up and seemed to be quite nice, the young man back there to answer questions immediately started fallowing us around and the first thing we stopped to look at, I opened the brochure to see what it was, started reading the name and he interpreted to say the name followed by ' we close in about an hour so I'd really like to start closing up now '. One of the people that came with me asked him if that meant we had to leave and he said we could go look at another section, that would be fine, but he wanted to close the wildlife exhibit. Since that's what I paid to see, and I still had an hour, I continued around, not stopping, just getting a quick look at everything, and the whole way he walked within a foot of us. Extremely disappointing, I have never been rushed through a museum like that, especially when they don't close for another hour.

Put this on your travel itinerary! This museum will surpass your expectations of a small town museum! The array of animals from around the world will blow you away in the Wildlife Gallery! The number of interesting buildings including the trappers cabin and schoolhouse should surprise and delight visitors. This is even better than some National Historic Sites. The Metis Nation Alberta section was well done too. I hope the local schools utilize this gem. A feather in the Sundre cap!

Good way to spend a quiet day if you're in the area. Standard artifacts of pioneer life in Alberta. Nice layout and when I went we were the only ones there. The parade of stuffed animals is a bit odd but it's well presented

What a gem! We needed to waste some time before our check-in time in Rocky Mountain House so stopped here. You have really friendly and knowledgeable museum staff on hand, the exhibits are informative and there is so much detail in everything, and the wildlife exhibit is stunning. Well worth the stop.

A nice little museum with a few structures from the past and an area inside with animals. Grounds have been clean and mowed each time I've been. Easy to find and there is free parking.

Took my kids today, had a great tour of the wildlife area with our tour guide Donavan, he’s knowledgeable, funny and tells a great story of the wildlife. (Was also great with keeping the tour going and on track regardless of my 5 year old being silly) the pioneer museum was so well set up and lovingly taken care of, very interesting. We were able to enter the buildings to a certain extent and learn about the buildings and the past people of Sundre and Bergen. Thanks for the experience ! We will Be back :)

Adrian Goddard

What an awesum experience we had at the museums. So many things to look at and take pictures of.

Michelle Engelman

A really neat place!!

Great way to spend a couple of hours in Sundre. The whole family enjoyed it.

Janice Loubert

The pioneer part wasn't all that thrilling even though it was cool to see old stuff. The animal part was lots of fun and the young gentleman who ran the tour was super passionate and informative. It was only 8 dollars each for the winter. It was so cool yo see a bunch of different animals and to see how large elephants really get! I recommend if you are in Sundre to check it out!

G Fraser

Great place! Jaime is always working hard to evolve it, keep things fun, create new events, build connection with intention care and love. The wildlife exhibit is stunning and you get get a great informative tour through it! The rest of the displays are great too as are the live displays, like the village blacksmith who does demonstrations on certain days.

Jackie Godlien

Must check out the wildlife section. Very educational

This small town museum of local and natural history is probably one of the best you'll find! The collections are wonderful. The artwork and murals are stunning! The local volunteer support is fantastic. Everyone is proud to showcase their community which is great to witness! Definitely recommended.

Tammy Matthews

What a great museum. I honestly did not expect to see the quality and quantity of wild life mounts. They are laid out in such a fashion as to tell a story. If you visit in the summer the display s on the grounds are equally impressive. Worth the visit!

Tony Joseph

The wildlife exhibit is world class! The staff and volunteers are wonderful! I would have given 5 stars if the indoor exhibits were jazzed up more. It's a great place to bring the kids year round!

Cool place Lots of historical artifacts

Great look back into time. A lot of great stuff from days past, that your parents or grand parents used, like we use a cell phone now. No second thoughts, just the way it was and with a section covering animals (stuffed) from around the world. Very formative young lady to show you around and tell you what and where they came from. A true blacksmith to explain his trade. Well worth pausing to take a look.

V

Incredible. 2 year old had an awesome time! Highly recommended.

All I can say is IF you liv e within 2 hours from here and have NOT come shame on you. I'm from Texas and loved it so much last summer I'm back again. This is RICH history that you can see touch and feel. Antiques that people love to see and a wildlife exhibit that is second to none. Glad to be back.

If you want to see animals go to a zoo. I have no clue why there is such a large collection of taxidermy it's just weird. Stick to history please.

Brandon Wilder

My kids loved the world of animals. Probably because the tour host was so knowledgeable great museum for a rainy day

Jenga Jools

Visited the museum today with family. Was a wonderful experience for the entire family esp my kida. They learned much about life of pioneers in this part of country. The church, school and log cabin were the favorites. The wildlife exhibit was awesome..it was made special by the amazing guide Daniel..who is so knowledgeable about each exhibit, its history and most importantly about the animals themselves. It was the most educational and interesting talk i have ever heard about wildlife...i will come back and recommend this place to others.
