Absolutely beautiful
I took my kids to the zoo when they were younger with their Grandparents who visited every summer from Holland. The staff were always friendly and my kids loved getting a closer view of the animals such as a porcupine that were brought out on a leash. Always friendly ! Also great in the winter to view by donation.
For a small city it is a pretty great facility to have.
Nothing interesting to see. Better to spend money on movie. It’s clean but very limited animals. Not many wild animals. I won’t recommend anyone to visit here unless he/she never visited any zoo.
Not much animals in zoo only sheeps and ducks
Great place to take a stroll with the family!
Honestly only got to see a handful of animals some weren't even their that were supposed to be like the cougar wasn't. Wasn't worth what we paid for for the children and ourselves.
Really nice zoo love the bears.
Went to the walk through night of the enchanted forest and it was great! It was a nice night, so the line was back up and around the church but it went by fast. It's so great to see the lights at your own pace and take pictures from such a unique perspective. There was a bonfire and hot chocolate as well!
Fantastic place for the whole family lot's of stuff to see & do.
I’ve came here many times and always had a good experience. The animals are cool, the bathrooms are good and the park is very fun. Would recommend on a sunny day.
Could use some more exotic animals.
Nice place for familly gathering and for kids.
Nice and quiet...
Great place to take people. Don't worry about it.
A nice walk on a beautiful day.
Love the forestry farm!
Excellent place to send time with the family. We have had a family pass for the past few years and spend a lot of time at the park. The have lots of activities for kids of all ages. There is lots of stuff to do besides the zoo and I encourage all people to check it out.
What a great small little zoo, my boyfriend and I had a great time here for a reasonable price! Great animals to see, beautiful park as well, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and walking through the zoo, today! They even had a little train that goes through the whole zoo, with a tour guide who shows you all the animals, gives fun facts and introduces you to all the animals by name! Heads up though, to get into the park you have to pay $2.50 for your day park pass! Which isn't bad at all. We had a great experience and we loved it, we were a little bummed that the dingoes exhibit wasn't finished yet but would be very soon, we also didn't get to see the Cougars as they weren't out and the porcupine! Oh well! Reason to ce back and visit
Nice little zoo. Go early, as we got there just as gate opened and had large portion of exhibits done before crowd STARTED to trickle in. Some paths were slightly wet not a big issue really, see the zoo in a hurry ride the train, but we did walk and amazingly none of our group died.
Large Landscape with lovely greenery and zoo is also well maintained
This year was the best loved all the new stuff n park thank you for such a great day at the zoo this summer my daycare kids had a blast .
Great fun for the family we go every year !
Love checking out the animals. Morning is best time to go.
It's a great place to go for a walk or hop on the train that goes through a narrative tour of the zoo. Not a huge variety of animals but it's interesting, very clean & the animals seem relaxed. We got to see a couple 10 yr old Grizzlies chasing each other & wrestling & the buffalo running & stopped & rolled. Very entertaining ????
Most animals were off exhibit or enclosures were in disrepair. It has a nice new playground for kids which was the saving grace for my young family.
The winter walk at the forestry is a great outing. It takes about half of an hour to go through the whole thing so if you're looking for a way to squeeze a 45 minute nap in for your baby this is a good way to accomplish that! The grounds are maintained well and the route is quite scenic. 5/5
That was fun. I wish there was more reptiles.
A very friendly environment and staff are polite and friendly as well
13.50 for half the exhibits to be completely empty and not being able to go into two of the buildings is horrible value, than even more of the exhibits are covered with vines you can't even see into them, super disappointing, and every year it only continues to get more disappointing
Cool experience, even if it was freezing cold. There weren’t many animals out, which obviously isn’t the zookeepers fault, my only complaint is that there was literally no one to take care of tickets. We waited for awhile but nobody was there, we just put some money down and walked in. It seems like a well meaning zoo, but it’s a bit run down. The animals all seemed to be taken care of, though!
Nice place to spend a day out. Like many others went first to the camping area spend some time had our food, and then went inside the zoo.. Can easily spend 4-5 hrs
A decent zoo for a city of 250,000 people. There are no exotic animals like penguins but they do tour in interesting animals like lions and tigers from time to time. My kids love the zoo and I love taking them. It's a great place to get out and take a walk. The surrounding park is nice with a big playground for the kids, a trout pond, and sports fields.
This is a Saskatoon Staple for sure. The Forestry Farm is a small Local Zoo in Saskatoon. Some animals are rescues and others are donations from other Zoo's. Recently the Zoo has had an influx of donations and Charitable money so extra buildings and habitats have been added and are being added. The zoo is open all year, but with admission being by donation in the off season. A family pass is available for what I think is about $175/season for 2 adults and up to 3 or 5 children,I think its a great deal. All money benefits the zoo. We spend several hours wandering, there are lots of places on site in the zoo or in the park the zoo is in, to have a picnic, or bbq. This stop is one you'll want to make many times a year.
Nice zoo, great spot for bbq. excellent ambiance for kids. Well maintained and beautiful animals.
Need improvments!
Nice zoo. Good variety of exhibits.
Really good variety of what you can find in and around canada as well as some exotic animals. The komodo dragon was pretty cool. Kind of sad about not being allowed to feed the animals anymore but an overall satisfying trip any time.
Admission price is reasonable. The place isn't so big that it takes an entire day of waking to just to get around the place, it takes a few hours if you take your time and enjoy the scenery. I always enjoy my days at the zoo.
Prairie dogs were great
Very good place to visit with family.
Very nice in spring, most of the animals were out and visible. Geese are nesting everywhere so children need to be aware not to approach them. It is a great place to bring the family for a walk and to get outside.
A favourite attraction of mine since I was a child, the Forestry Farm is fantastic whether you're going to the Zoo or want a family, or event, picnic or the like. Tons of space for throwing around a football or frisbee or playing other sports casually. They also have an amazing Christmas display each year that you should not miss, especially if you have children!
Really fun place! Large enough and entertaining enough to get you through a morning or an afternoon but not so big you have to dedicate a weekend to it. And for $24 for the family, very reasonably priced. We were glad we took the time to go!
Love the place.
Awesome place to go see the animals. Great place for fishing and picnic plus to play ball
Really enjoyed seeing all the animals here. Was very happy to see the grizzly bears, cougar, wolves. Lucky enough to see them all for quite a while since they weren't sleeping!
It's was great! Animalz are cool!!!
Very comfortable picnic area. Well setup allowing space between other parties making it comfortable for everyone
This is a great little zoo with many local wildlife as well as exotics like a red panda and a royal Python. My favourite is Spirit the great horned owl. She is missing an eye and I think she was born in captivity. She is remarkably calm and absolutely gorgeous.
Most of the exhibits were empty. It was a great walk but for what you paid to get in, it was very disappointing. You had to walk a very long way only to find out the exhibit was empty. Not a lot of signage explaining why pens were empty. Very expensive for what was there. I know it costs a lot of money to care for and house the animals but there needs to be something done to make people want to come back. Sorry but this is how my entire group felt.
I love the zoo! In the winter it's free entry until the end of March. Of course, some animals are gone for the winter but it's still nice to walk around. The surrounding forestry farm is really nice to go for a walk too. The zoo has meerkats this season so I'll have to go again soon.
They had Dingoes out, and most animals were available to be viewed. Park was fantastic, so much fun for kids on the playground
It is a very beautiful zoo, including a lake for fishing and in my opinion all the northern animals. It was my first time looking at wolves and cougars. They also have an indoors exhibit where they show the Komodo dragon, fish, lizards, snakes, etc
Always an amazing time here. Lots of animals to see. The monkeys are always the favourite.
The facility was very nice walk ways were clean The animals looked content and well looked after the play area was well maintained all in all a good place to go for a family outing
Beautiful.
Very nice
One of the best family parks in town. Perfect place to take out of towners to!
Had a great family time. Kids enjoyed the playgrounds.
I love going to the zoo. Took students on a field trip. Lots of animals to check out, a train tour around, gardening area, and much more especially for younger kids. Enjoyed by all, including my 15 teenagers. Also had a gift shop and snack shop.
The people are respectful to the animals, they are well cared for, and appear quite healthy and happy.
Visited the zoo while we were visiting family in Saskatoon. The zoo was a great place for us to bring our toddler. They have strollers or wagons that can be rented for a cost but portion of that is refunded to you when you return it.
Perfect for a family adventure day. It's not the biggest zoo, but still a ton of activities and animals to explore.
Its great place to spend with family and animals awesome staff great food at the restaurant the only thing missing is a place to walk our dog did not know we couldn't do that and were asked to put our little dog away ????
love going to the zoo. The grounds of forestry farm are beautiful. If you play Pokemon go there's lots of pokestops there too.
Don’t go when it is too hot out. Nearly every animal was in their burrow/den staying out of the heat. There were also quite a few exhibits closed for maintenance. It was just so so. I think it would be better if everything was open. However just go in with proper expectations…this doesn’t have Vancouver or Toronto level exhibits.
Good selection of animals. Family favourites were the meer cats, bison, monkeys, bears (we saw one playing in the water, and another playing with a downed tree), and tarantula. I imagine we'll be getting a season pass next time we go!
Always a delight. They're constantly trying to update it without taking away from the quintessential, natural and simple atmosphere they started with.
It might be a bit difficult to navigate but the exhibits are great
The perfect place for a casual Saturday stroll. Well maintained and nicely manicured grounds make for a pleasurable experience. The zoo leaves something to be desired but if you're just out and about for a couple hours it's a fun trip.
Always love going to the zoo. It's not a big city zoo but there are plenty of Canadian animals to see. Lots of raptors, some good monkeys and bats. Love the wolves!
Great place to take your little ones!
I loved seeing the animals but I didn't see all of them because it was just to hard to get around to all of them
Good experience for the kids fun for all ages, two parks and lots of green space
Covid 19 makes it hard to enjoy due to some areas closed
Good place ... but I just wish we could see inside many of the animals enclosures as they were in there to avoid the 32 C heat. But ... my family had a good time anyways.
Well maintained and an enjoyable stroll. Free in winter which is great!
Great place to take the kids. They love seeing all of the animals and learning about them. The playground inside the zoo is lots of fun for all ages.
It's a zoo got some animals there. Mostly for kids.
If you have a chance to go through the enchanted forest on foot please do so. Weather permitting of course.
Wonderful zoo for little ones.
Park was great for kids and family especially on summer days. Great for picnic or just animal sightseeing. Although the zoo obviously needs more facility upgrades, landscaping and additional attractions.
Since it's winter... Not able to view all the Animals .... But it's an experience visiting in winter.... Not crowded.... Entrance is free at this time.... Grizzly is in hibernation....
It was ok. Most animals were not available
This place is good. Parking lot is huge. Ticket prices are high for the fun we expect there. Animals are very few. Some rare varieties and the rest is all sheep, bison, ducks. It is worth watching the grizzly bears., wolf, bald eagle, mere cats, bunny, monkeys. Great place for families and the children will love the train tour. There is park and a pond in there. Bathrooms were neat. Buckeyes cafeteria is good for ice creams.
great place for kids to learn & play! they have an awesome playground in the zoo. lots of space for picnics & photos too. a great spot to spend time in the summer.
Great for children and adults. A mini zoo with big personalities
great place to visit any time of the year. kids love it as do the adults.
Great time! Very happy they are building a new play ground the other one is old and not toddler friendly. Staff are friendly!
Great affordable place to take the whole family. Animals have lots of room and mostly all animals are from our in their natural habitat
It's ok
Way way way too many enclosures are empty PLUS up keep is terrible in the zoo and gardens. Not worth price of admission. The most frustrating thing about the zoo is the lack of information on the few animals they have. Add to that, that much of the little info they have is posted u professionally, hand written, or hanging from strings.
Very average park tbh. Went to Saskatoon Trout Pond three times, no fish at all. Went to Lake Diefenbaker, hooked a 3 Ib rainbow trout from shore in 30 mins. There is NO TROUT in the pond. They need to restock it. 10/10 Will not come again
Alright, most animals you could see outside anyways. Cool monkeys though
I don't love zoos for obvious reasons but if I could love any then it would be this one. The park is amazing, their butterfly building is out of this world tremendous and the zoo itself is full of rescue animals and birds which raise awareness for their species. Not all of the exhibits are altruistic which is why my review is 4 stars.
I have always loved coming here. Note to management: Why is your staff using a very very loud high power blower to blow dirt around the path? Completely killed the serenity of coming here AND a broom would have been ECO friendly and much more effective.
My family are loving the new changes!! The new management has really turned the look of the place around. They even have free WiFi located anywhere on their grounds. I am also glad they took out the huge amount of products when you leave the zoo. I get why it was there but the struggle to get out with the kids not wanting the whole store made me not want to come back. Now we don't have that fight we are there all the time!!b
Nice place for family, specially for kids. So many animals to see. They kept them in really nice condition and if a person gets tired of walking, they also have transportation inside the zoo, which will guide you and give you the tour of the whole zoo.
The park is a nice place to walk around in, and a nice little picnic area. Just dont expect to see many animals. We went there for lunch and during the zoo walk, we saw a total of 3 different animals. It felt sad and abandoned. I do understand that with covid and renovations it might not be running at 100 percent, but i feel like there should be a disclaimer at the front stating the lack of wildlife to be seen. All in all I dont regret going, plus, Id like to think we were doing our part in keeping the place going during this trying period.
We love the zoo but this last year lot of animals had been removed off exhibit. Also no more peacocks, guinea fowl around. The concession is pricey but we buy the candy which is cheaper and most of the time soft. Meerkat exhibit is the best part of the zoo right now.
Animals were all active when we came. Moving around making noise. Play structure was fun. Good food. Great price.
Educational
It was a good time and a good price. Lots of Canadian animals and different species from other countries (i.e. deer, sheep). It was really neat to be so close to see the animals, which you wouldn't be able to see in a really large zoo. I loved seeing the cougar and bear up close. I went on a cooler day and the animals were quite active and not hiding. There was a train (included with admission) to ride around the park and get a bit of information about the animals. Indoor and outdoor exhibits.
It's very nice and beautiful place. Kids are very happy to go over there.
The first time I visited the Zoo it was -30°C in mid February and it was awesome. The diversity of animal species is great. The habitat sizes are considerably larger than I was expecting - which may require you to spend a bit more time trying to spot every animal, but a larger habitat is always better for the animals. Admission is by donation throughout the winter months, but the cost of a membership is totally worth it. The animal were appeared health and had various forms of mental and physical enrichment in their respective habitats.
It didn't appear well kept at all
Love enjoying the animals and scenery
Wolf was majestic, frogs were fun, snow leopard was hiding
The roadway in has been redone which is nice! The day was perfect as the animals were all out!
Good zoo for a small city like saskatoon to have. It's always very clean and it's small enough that the little ones can walk the whole thing.
This is a great Zoo, clean & well taken care of. Some exhibits were not open this year & the train was unavailable due to Covid but we would go back for another visit to hopefully see more exhibits open next year. The kids enjoyed it.
Plan to spend a couple hours here! Lots to see and do. You can take your time and walk trails... or hop on a mini train and have your own personal tour guide. We did both. Some places you may want to walk up to that the train doesn't access. Lots of cool animals. The wolves, bears and red panda were our favorite. They also have an indoor slurpee, coffee shop. Make sure you take extra cash too for the gift shop. $$
Fun place to visit. There are many animals to see and you can enjoy the views. Strongly recommended for a relaxing time.
Always a fun thing to do in Saskatoon. It's not terribly expensive and it's better than a walk around the block again. Every year or two they get a new "exotic" animal. This year it's meerkats, last year was komodo dragons, before that was red pandas. It makes it a somewhat new experience every year. Also, I noticed that this year the park was undergoing some renovations. I wonder, what kind of new attractions will be there next year?
Great place, nothing too exotic as far as "zoo's" go. Clean, well looked after.
Have very less number of animals.
Had lots of awesome prairie animals there. And I grew up in the country. Great to get out of the city buzz.
We go see the lights almost every year. The kids love it, but most displays are the same every year. Still great to see the "awe" on the kids' faces.
There was plenty of animals to see! But most were staying out of sight! And they got rid of the lions and peacocks which helped this zoo!
Loved the layout, loved the various exhibits and the way you can walk around at your own pace and in any direction you could want. My personal favorites were the mountain goats and the buffalos.
Always a great time with a staff who take pride in their jobs. Animals are very active this time of the year everyone should go
Such a beautiful park and so much to do and see. Went late in day in September and only really had the chance to see the meditation gardens. But I want to return again next summer and explore further. From what I saw I’d recommend to anyone, especially families with kids.
Great place for family walks and see the country without leaving the city.
I loved it! The Eagles were beautiful.
It's not professional. Just a bear and a cougar were interesting. There were other common and simple animals such as geese, goat, sheep, eagel, etc. I won't visit for another time.
We were very disappointed in our latest visit as there were very few animals. Most exhibits were closed, a lot of the animals are gone. Not worth the money
Jax loved it
Absolutely love the forestry farm. All of it! The zoo and park. Only reason it's not 5 stars is that it's always in a constant state of construction. Always some minor inconvenience to either the walking route or parking, etc.
Prices are reasonable staff is friendly. The zoo is a nice size for the kids.
Very nice and place to visit. You have to pay a ticket to get inside the zoo area but you can easily kill hours watching the animals
Great day for a stroll.
My recent trip to this facility was a slight disappointment. It's embarrassing that a place most visited by out-of-town visitors fails to maintain its Access Road. We actually had to drive in the lane of oncoming traffic because ours was not safe to drive on. Not only was the parking lot not paved but there were large snow banks not cleared from parking stalls. They offer a family rate but only for two adults, so if the third member of your family is over the age of Youth they're discriminated upon just because of their age. Once in the facility one member of my party was forced to turn back because of the mud and water on the pathways making it unsafe for a person with a disability to traverse. My out-of-town guests were not impressed with this city run facility.
best place for family to spend a day, BBQ playground , fishing, zoo lots to do
Staff took great care of my class while we were there. Very informative and we loved learning about the importance of biodiversity and the environment in Saskatchewan.
Awesome place kids enjoyed
I've always been greatful for having such a wonderful place to go to in Saskatoon.Ive visited this location well over 100 times in my life and it will always have a special place in my heart and is being passed on to my wonderful children. They offer a wonderful facility to visit and learn about animals. Lots to see and to Read. They provide more in the summer months than the winter. But it is open all winter and is free during the off season. So grab a hot drink and enjoy a wonderful walk. Very slippery paths so be careful. 2 buildings are open in the winter with heat and bathrooms. Summer month's are the best to make it a whole day trip. Bring a fishing rod for the trout pond and bring a basket of food to have yourself a picnic in the park. Playgrounds, Flower Gardens, so much green grass and space to toss around a ball. Fire pits and BBQs are welcome. Such a wonderful place to be. I always leave with more happiness in my soul. Hope you find something special their for you
Amazing place to watch animals, good landscape
The majority of animals I saw were people without masks. No wonder we have the highest number of covid cases per capta. If the zoo its going to be opened, they should require people to wear masks.
Was a really great experience.. Good light show.. A must go visit place in the Christmas-New Year season..
Real Good
Seeing all the animals was lovely as always, and I really appreciated the fact that they are phasing out some of the larger animals like the wolves and looking into a better enclosure for the grizzlies. It was nice to see that most of the animals have enough space so that they don't feel like they need to pace the wall. Please consider donating money to the zoo if you can, so they can make the new grizzly bear enclosure as nice as possible. Cheers!
We went to see the Christmas lights. It was awesome. Very great. Alittle bit of a line up. But still so worth everything. My first time through.
Your animals all look so sad and stressed. It would be nice to see more space given for your birds. It's crazy how I can go buy a drink and a snack but you don't have actual sinks to wash hands but portable toilet. It's gross to think hand sanitizer is supposed to be the way to go.. ew. Washing hands is best.
This is our first year attending this light show. At first I was hesitant because it seems expensive to see some Christmas lights...I was so wrong. It’s worth every penny (plus it goes to charity)! The amount of work they must put in to set up these lights is unbelievable.
Such a nice fall day with the family, very calm and all the animals were awake. Love what they are doing with the zoo
Half the enclosures were temporary closed
Staff and facilities are very friendly and supportive to covid care.
Good place to take your kids for Christmas lights we really enjoy it
The Forestry Farm is a great organization, we've appreciated working with them.
We went fishing today! Didn't catch a thing, but it was a relaxing time!
Way too crowded. But, it was free! The Dingos were amazing. A Saskatoon must see.
Unorganized, not clean, nothing interesting,
I do not understand why we cannot bring in our own snacks or picnic lunches.... At least half of the zoo is park and green space!! There is only 1 cafe and it doesn't serve much for healthy options! Let us bring in a bag lunch!!
Kids loved it. Free train ride/ tour with admission.
Not a fancy zoo, however this is a decent one in town for walking around and bring kids for outdoor activities.
Little gem in Saskatoon. Beautiful park and picnic areas with acres to relax and play. Not a fan of zoos, so no comment there.
Great family getaway
Given that Saskatoon isn't as large as a city like Calgary for example I wasn't expecting much at this zoo however when my friend and I visited with our two young children for the first time last month we were pleasantly surprised at all the zoo had to offer! Great selection of animals to see, great activities for kids, and amazing sights and exhibits for people of all ages! Definitely worth the very reasonable price of admission!
This place is great. Fun on the park. Fun in the zoo. Fun fishing. Fun having a picnic. Fun having a fire. Everything is fun
Great park for big group of people having activities here. We had more than 15 families people join our party here, everyone are so happy with the place where is comfortable and clean. Very suitable atmosphere close to our zoo, people will love to again, and enjoy the most peaceful place in the city.
A wonderful little zoo that has a smaller but interesting selection of animals. They currently have dingoes on display and they were playful and very interesting to watch.
It's a nicely organized small zoo...they don't have good collection of animals...it would be nice if they had varieties in their collection.
Fun park with lots to do like fishing, picnics and the zoo. Unsure if the butterfly farm is still there. It is worth a half day trip to look at all the exhibits
Love this place! We get the annual membership and it let's you into other zoos we visit like the Edmonton Zoo and the Kamloops Wildlife Park. A great deal!
It is the best zoo! We took the grand kids today, the played in th new park and loved to see all the animal.
Fun feeding the the Nuthatches and Chickadees.
Very decent zoo with lots of animals. Children would love it.
A lot of fun. The bears and buffalo were awesome.
Great way to spend an afternoon with the family. Lots of beautiful scenery and animals to see. Also the tour is great.
Not sure
Not a good experience didn't see much at all the cages where to small for the animals it was very sad
Always a great experience! Love the new playground! Always a great way to spend half a day with the family. Animal displays have great information and is usually easy to spot the animals.
An excellent day out for the family. Ride your bike there to avoid the fee to get in. Excellent walk. A great day out for the family.
Though there's no much animals as a big city zoo, I love the place!
Great place for a peaceful walk or an interesting stroll through Saskatchewan History! Beautiful fir pictures, weddings, or just having some fun with Family. Don't forget to see the Zoo!! And... seriously... 3,000,000 trees as a Biotechnology answer to soil erosion... very interesting work that was accomplished here.
More than half the animals were hiding . Alot of renovations going on..
Fun area to have a picnic and hang out. Lots of open spaces. Meditation Garden is nice to walk through if you enjoy flowers and greenery. The train going through the zoo is fun too.
You may think the zoo is just a bunch of deer and goats. But its also has beautiful trails and some more exotic animals. 10/10 good date idea
Great place for a walk, picnic, family outing. The kids love seeing animals and get to play in a number of playgrounds.
Very nice ???? great for children and parents
Although the variation of animals was good. The fact that they're mostly in relatively small cages and some in isolation is awful. That coupled with a lot of the animals showing signs of stress and depression makes me want to persuade people not to go and should instead just donate the money that would have been spent to a worthy animal charity.
Overall a wonderful bargain for the yearly membership. Every time we go with the kids it's been great. Open fire BBQ pits and acres of green space make it wonderful for the summer. Big events, weddings, Halloween get crazy because the parking lots can only support 200-300 cars and there is ONE road in/out single lane.
Last time we were at the zoo was 2019, now that we have a 1.5 year old son we figured it would be great to show him around. Nope it was such a waste of time and money. Most of the animals are not visible and a few fun exhibits are closed. I wouldn’t recommend visiting at this time.
Great place. Its beautiful and there is always something going on there.
Me and my son love the zoo. So many great animals and always a awesome tour on the train.
A small zoo but worth a visit.
Not a bad zoo. Not much for exotic animals. Lots of walking
Small number of animals
Awesome place for both kids and adults alike.. some areas are closed off and animals removed due to the COVID pandemic.. kids play area, parks, trails all well maintained, spacious parking space, recommended!
Great zoo, only one in the province. The concession is usually clean, well stocked and reasonably priced. The little red tram is fantastic and it has a friendly commentator too :)
Great place to spend family time!
A very nice zoo and a unique experience. it is free, donations accepted, in the winter, but after April 1st it is a paid, but they do bring more animals
A very small zoo. Not a lot of animals. Nothing exciting or exotic. Would recommend going only if you have absolutely nothing to do.
Fun experience. A good amount of animals to see.
Train ride around the zoo was informative and nice little break from walking. A few exhibits were getting redone but look forward to seeing something different next time we go. Good place to spend 2 hrs. New playground is open to give the kids a break and run around.
Nice walk.
Nice place for a Sunday stroll. Saw just enough animals to make it worth while for a December visit.
Great place for children and adults alike. Each visit to Saskatoon I visit would not be a complete holiday if I didnt
A great place for families to enjoy the outdoors and see and learn about animals!
Where animals, dont act like animals. I've been around wild and farm animals, pets and feral.. These animals acted drugged, or just that depressed and unwell. Every animal I seen looked like they had no will to live. The habitats are a 2/5, not big enough, not much to them... The badger, just kept walking in a patteren, again and again, round and round.. in his ,very VERY small, dirt floor "encloser". Those birds have no space.. All in all, if you dont know how animals usually act, you may like a zoo, like this one... but if you know what a happy animal looks and acts like, a deer, goat, bear, (even take your house pet as an example).. you would agree, this zoo is just the most depressing place. Go to see sad animals, who have barely any room to roam, (let alone fly)
My favorite place to explore and chill-out in the summer. Beautiful meditation flower gardens, fun trout pond, and there seems to always be a cricket game to watch. The zoo is also really fun with lots of peacocks and other birds roaming around.
Because of covid alot was closed
My friends and I really enjoyed the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. I never really had any ambition to go there but I would recommend everyone of all ages to go and see everything there. As a small-town person, it's a nice getaway from the city.
Great zoo, most animals are rescued, plus they bring in some great exhibits. Kids love it, so do I.
It was good after we actually got in. They need to plan better the parking and the entrance for people. We were in line for 45 minutes just to get in.
This is the first time I have visited. I enjoyed it, lots of walking and animals. Only thing was went late afternoon when it was hot out and they were in shade or in their houses. Will be back next year to do another tour. If you have children I recommend taking them on a train ride around there.
Excellent place for a day out with your friends and family. Picnic area, the zoo, cricket pitch and many more things to do. I often go there to play cricket. Always have a blast when I am there.
Was a nice place to visit but it made me sad for the animals.
First time. Very much enjoyed it in spite of covid setbacks.
Good place
Kind of disappointing. Half of the animals at the zoo aren't even in their enclosures. They only open at 9, when the day starts getting hot already so the animals go to seek shade and you can't see them. They have common animals like goats, llamas, miniature horse, whitetail deer, etc. Could be so much better.
Great place to take the kids. Not great if you are looking for exotic animals. They are mostly animals you can find in Canada but it's a nice walking route. Buying a season pass is worth it if you plan on going a bunch in the summer. Winter it's free.
It's lovely at anytime in the year
It is amazing you can go for a long walk, let the kids play, and see wildlife/animals at the same time. Thank you for letting us all enjoy the park for free during winter!
We LOVE the forestry farm park. There's a large playground with equipment appropriate for a wide range of ages. Wood chips under the large playground and a smaller playground beside it that has sand as its base. SO much open green space for playing catch/frisbee etc, many bbq pits and picnic table areas available to bring your own supplies (note bring your own wood, etc.) There is a pond where you can do some fishing, a quiet garden area, and then theres the forestry farm part with the "zoo" animals (entrance fee) of course. There is a vehicle admission fee to enter the park but free to bike or walk in. Very well maintained area with bathrooms available.
Alot more than expected, worth the trip
When it's too hot the animals won't come out. Gotta be sure to go when it's a bit cooler outside
Nice place to take the kids for a stroll. I bought a season pass so we can go regularly. I will be honest and say that places such as these are in dire need of additional funding for maintenance and upkeep. I can't stress enough how important it is that everyone make an effort to visit places like these. All in all it's a nice place with plenty of wildlife and lots of walking paths to enjoy.
Lots of native canadian animals and mammals to see but due to covid19, some parts of the zoo were cordoned off yet were charged full price admission. The place is definitely huge. Bring extra bottles of cold water and bring insect repellant. But for the amount of animals and the way they are taken care of including shelter and environment, a 5 thumbs up. Some of the vending machines ate our change especially on a very hot day. Would give 5 stars if it want for the full admission price and vending machines eating our change.
Great place to go and enjoy time with your family or friends. Meerkats are pretty cool. I just really like it all. I think it's a great place for your kids to go have fun, see some cool animals and learn.
Fun zoo to visit the animals. Always new animals each year and babies being born. They also offer a tour around the park in a covered wagon for no extra charge.
We vist the Forestry Farm at least once a year, I am so impressed with the improvements that have been happening!
3 stars because of enclosure sizes. I enjoyed the zoo and I was impressed with the variety of animals they had but the enclosures for the mid-size animals (Cougars, wolves, bears etc) seemed a bit too small. The animals all seemed well cared for and the grounds were well maintained. Admission price was fair.
Wonderful place.
It was great experience we have had, my kids enjoyed and learned something new as well. Awesome!
No much to say, there are few animals some of them look sad. Good area for kids to play and run around. Can feed some animals. Love the peafowls walking around!
Lots of new changes happen.
There was dissapointment in Saskatoon Zoo as there was only a few wild animals in the Park !
We had the seniors from Primrose Chateau at The Forestry Farm for the annual KFC picnic. The geese played nonchalant at first until everybody had settled into eating then they slowly and surely made their way to the picnic tables but left without incident once they realized they weren't able to mooch food from the visitors(us). I've been coming out here since we moved here back in 1957. It's changed over the years but is still a gem in Saskatoon. If you are a visitor you owe it to yourself to visit here plus take in the zoo. Great place. I didn't post pictures of our group for the obvious privacy concerns. They all enjoyed the day as they have in past years.
It's always nice to go to the zoo. It's clean and fun and good for all ages
Very nice small zoo! The Grizzly bears were beautiful! Price was very reasonable!
You can easily spend the day here, they have push carts for children, a play area and quite a lots of animals over a large area. Renovations promise to make it much nicer soon. The weak spot is the canteen. Limited options, mostly hotdogs and such and often with pretty half hearted service.
We went to see the enchanted forest. It was nice as usual. The kids loved it.
Don't go expecting a big show or a lot of wild animals. Mostly animals indigenous to Saskatchewan. But good for little kids.
Ok so it is a small city "zoo" and is priced according. The new playground is a great end or beginning to your adventure.
Good place ... but I just wish we could see inside many of the animals enclosures as they were in there to avoid the 32 C heat. But ... my family had a good time anyways.
Great time with the family!
Maps were a little bit outdated (still listed burrowing owl exhibit and some animals were in different habitats than shown on the map), animals seemed to be well treated. Would not recommend visiting midday when it's rather hot as the animals will likely be seeking shade/resting. Was still worth the sunburn to visit. :)
I love the zoo! In the winter it's free entry until the end of March. Of course, some animals are gone for the winter but it's still nice to walk around. The surrounding forestry farm is really nice to go for a walk too. The zoo has meerkats this season so I'll have to go again soon.
The zoo has a lot of animals you can find in Canada. Wolves, cougars, bear, deer and elk usually. A few birds (hawks and eagles) They will usually have some sort of exotic animal as well (they usually have monkeys) when we were there in May they had MEERKATS which was amazing to see, they have also had baby white tigers in the past and usually have some sort of main attraction. There's not a ton of sun cover so plan accordingly. They also tend to have geese and peacocks wondering about (the geese were a bit aggresive in our last visit, just something to think about with younger children) parking at the park is $2.00 and it's 12.50 per adult (I believe there is a family pass available as well). Overall it doesn't change much from year to year but worth checking out if you've never been or haven't been for a while. See the exotic attractions (MEERKATS!) can be worth the price of admission in some cases.
Always great to support the zoo and watch the animals be well taken care of.
This is a great little zoo with many local wildlife as well as exotics like a red panda and a royal Python. My favourite is Spirit the great horned owl. She is missing an eye and I think she was born in captivity. She is remarkably calm and absolutely gorgeous.
An easy walk for an afternoon the enclosures are large and open to give plenty of viewing angles
Perfect place for long walks and getting closer to nature. Many different animals mostly specific to Saskatchewan and area but there also tropical ones.
Good picnic areas..lovely in Fall
Great place to spend a day. Lots to do. You can have a picnic, see the animals, go for a walk, have a picnic, etc.
Amazing how they house these animals, they always get animals that are suited for our environment. Most definitely a top class zoo for a place like Saskatoon!
Beautiful parks, the zoo animals all looked healthy and happy. The kids loved the play centre in the middle of the zoo
It is always a great time for any age and any family. I recommend going in the evening when it is cooler and less busy. The animals will be sleeping otherwise if it's too hot. Also, a nice winter day is a sneaky great time to go.
Very nice place, not too big and not too small, many animals mostly local canadians or the states, very friendly to children and give them information about the animals and they can see them closely, very clean and tidy not expensive and the area is quite big and not crowded, a lot of space to sit and rest and well organized. very recommended
We loved having a quiet stroll through the park on a chilly, snowy afternoon! The park is free to enter in the winter and although some animals aren't on display or are hibnerating, there's still plenty to see. Never realized how big bison are!!
The hours posted on Google for the Forestry Farm Park & Zoo are WRONG. Google needs to change this as many people are very upset when they come here to find out that we are on fall/ winter hours 10 am to 4 pm daily. I work at the Forestry Farm and Google has been informed several times but have not change it. Google, please change this to the correct hours below. Hours are as follows: Day after Labour Day to Apr 30: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm May 1 to Labour Day: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Closed Dec 25 Thank you.
It is a fun outing as a family. It's a nice walk around to the animals (mostly outdoors). Bring a stroller or you can rent there. In the summer, there is a trolley that makes a circuit to the further animal pens, which is a nice break for little legs. Technically, you're not allowed outside food, but I'd recommend bringing snacks anyway unless you want fries and popcorn. They have a new playground that is accessible and fun for kids, though be warned: it is centrally located and if your kids are playground magnets, you may not see much of the zoo. The zoo society occasionally hosts little learning activities (meet an animal sort of thing), that I'd recommended trying to take it.
Went with big brother big sister's as I volunteer there. They have food, lots of animals and are currently doing renovations on the park. I have been going there since a little child and i really do like it there. The only thing I wished I saw was a larger enclosure for the bears. They have a map that you can use to help you get around. Lots of different building to enter to see different kinds of animals. Interactions with devices to learn about animals in one of the buildings too! I would definitely recommend at least dedicating 2 hours to see everything (min).
I’ve been coming here to wander the park for a few years and they have a fantastic staff, very friendly and accommodating. They also have a great variety of animals to see in the zoo and a number of wildlife you can occasionally find in the park. They have a really fun playground as well. It’s one of the best places in saskatoon to spend time outdoors.
It was raining so most of the animals where inside. I think the train ride is just waste of money. It wont stop for taking pictures, he just gives the tour and will tell the animals names. For just 12 mins ride its a completely waste. Its better to walk and see the animals and take pics rather than just seeing them in the train. Eventhough it has a roof but still the seats where all wet. We were standing in the middle.
Today the one bear was walking in a circle for the whole ten minutes we were there. We than walked to the monkeys and goats and came back and he was still doing this…
Not as good in summer heat when animals are lazy but still an enjoyable experience.
Nice place for outing with the family and friends. We had a barbeque party arranged for done 100 people. Enjoyed a lot.
The Saskatoon Forestry Farm is a really good place to come with family or friends on a weekend and watch for beautiful animals such as bears, foxes or bald eagles and many more kind of the animals. I would definitely recommend that place for young couples with kids or for tourists. By the way, there is cafe there where you can get a snack or ice cream or even lunch.
Always nice seeing the lights????
Cougars, wolves, foxes, eagles, bears, monkeys and many more! We went there at the start of the season (end of April) and even if some animals were missing, there was still an incredible amount of diverse species. The enclosures were well maintained and safe for kids. You could be a family or simply by yourself, the zoo is a must for anyone who likes animals.
Is not the most amazing light show you'll ever see but still worth it. This is the first year I've been there but apparently a lot of the displays are back every year with a few new ones every season.
Generally a very nice park. I guess their low cost answer to speed bumps is to have very poorly maintained roads that have an incredible amount of potholes. We were at the hall for an event and the building was fairly nice.there is no a/c but there are a few doors so a cross flow ventilation was possible. We ate considering getting the annual zoo pass. We would go more often then.
Always a good place to go for a walk in the winter.
Always awesome !!!! The one direction walking paths were actually great - made the zoo seem more organized and no one was backtracking. Very nicely done !!!!
Lol! What a zoo? They just have owls, gooses and some sheep’s exhibits to see. Not worth at all to go! Even many of the spots were empty.
A great day to visit when it’s cool outside animals were all very active and seem to be energetic which intrigued me
Free admission in the winter, great day for the family
Best place for kids to have fun relax & come close to nature.
Always a fun time. Would be 5stars but made me throw out my coffee and let everyone else behind me keep theirs ????♂️
Need more bathrooms
Very nice park. Definitely worth the visit if you go to Saskatoon
Beautiful place to visit in Saskatoon.
Great zoo for little kids. Not overwhelming or too spread out.
No bites at the pond. Needs to be restocked and hours changed so it's open at better times. Only open when the fish don't want to bite
Quite disappointed in the zoo this year. There were a lot of empty enclosures. They tore down one whole section where they had two different owl species, which we really enjoyed in the past. There were a lot animals gone...were they transfered? Or did something happen to them? It makes you think a bit...and one of the bears was pacing and walking in very small circles .So sad... And for the price $12.50 an adult, its not worth it .
Nice, if fairly old, facilities. Not a ton of different animals, but the staff are great and if you support animal conservation and wildlife in general I'd recommend spending a day.
Always nice seeing the lights????
Nothing interesting to see. Better to spend money on movie. It’s clean but very limited animals. Not many wild animals. I won’t recommend anyone to visit here unless he/she never visited any zoo.
Couldn’t see alot of animals and some of them where temporarily close for some reAson but good experience overall
Lovely to be able to be with grandkids there and they're able to rome free, and not get into any problems!!!!
Absolutely love the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. The dingos are especially neat to see and the staff are always friendly and helpful. Thank you for having us!
beautiful location to see critters such as: goats, bears, lynxes, bobcats, wolves and much more
Free to visit in the winter and beautiful with lots of open spaces and benches for families and a great playground.
Fantastically inspiring views of an enchanted forest. Everyone should go.
It was really nice small zoo. We have gone during the regular hours but the best time is during the Christmas season as they have a light show/festival .
A nice park . I like it. Lot of fun for kids and adults
Scenic. Lots of awesome wildlife. Staff answered questions. Many Pokestops so an excellent gaming spot that was also beautiful and educational.
Great staff at the cafe
I think we were a bit early. Not all the animals were on display. But I did buy a family pass so we can go back a few times.
17 Open Exhibits/17 Different Animals. The website boasts over 300 animals but what I've counted, including the herds I'm pretty sure there is less than 50 animals total. Some of it is due to covid. But that's less than 50% of the park, maybe even only a quarter of it open and operational. Family pass went from $80 to $60. Kind of expensive. Current Animals: 3 Bison/beefalo 2 bears 2 eagles 2 dingos 1 Swift Fox 1 hawk 1 owl 1 wolf 1 lynx 1 cougar 1 porcupine Caribou Muflon Sheep Mountain goats Elk Fallow deer Pronghorn
Great for children and adults. A mini zoo with big personalities
There are not many animals in zoo that’s good btw and park in itself is average
Had a wonderful time. We regrettably went at the wrong time of the day (noon-ish) and missed a lot of the main attraction animals. We will likely return though and try to catch them again.
Disappointed with the last time we went (last week) half the exhibits were closed. It ended up being an expensive walk to look at trees
Not very big but a very quaint zoo to visit.
I love it because they currently have Komodo dragons. Overall, it's small zoo with bats, bears, and buffalo. Don't expect a full Safari experience, but I think it's worth the price of admission-especially if you have kids.
Really nice place
One of my favourite places! I can't even count how many times a year we visit the park, and we go into the actual zoo regularly as well. It's beautiful, multipurpose, cheap and has clean accessible facilities.
Great place to hang out after my Dad's funeral.
Great fun for kids. Two dollars per vehicle to get in, then parking is free. There is a zoo, a great playground area, and plenty of picnic spots.
We went there today and all the animals were out to greet everyone,a great visit, thank you for the experience and keep up the good work, staff and caretakers⭐
It was hella warm out and most of the animals were inside, not at all blaming the zoo. There were quite a few enclosures shut down for repair and what not maybe I should have done more research as I don't know if they post stuff like that online but it was still a very pleasant walk around.
Great, friendly people. Relaxing atmosphere. Fishing. Picnics. Awesome place to spend time.
The forestry farm is always a relaxing place to go. They have a great playground for kids and lots of spots to have a picnic. The zoo is nice and its not usually very busy. It will be a lot better when they get the carnivore trail built.
I go to take the kids I nanny. But it's not as entertaining as it once was. Animals missing, no more hands on things, like it was. But maybe, I'm just old. Lol
Nice place to bring family in weekend
We had a great time. Zoo was very clean and animals well looked after. We were there at 11 and it was feeding time so lots of the animals were out
Not enough animals to see. Most enclosures were either closed or empty. Hopefully next year will be better
An excellent experience. Thank you
Amazing place and clean. Well maintained park
It was great experience with my wife n 3 years old son. Had a great time
3 years ago I would have given it 5 stars but it has gone down hill. Getting rid of the chickens/ peacocks and having so many exhibits closed is leaving a lot of room for improvement. We have bought seaons passes for the last 3 yrs and now the price has also gone up. Not overly impressed. Still pretty ok for a 3yr old
Awesome place to take the kids for an hour or two. We went in chillier weather so not all animals were there but I am sure in the summer it would be that much more fun
Love love love the zoo. My son loves it too! The park is a wonderful added touch when parents need to take a break haha.
Great xmas tree lights
Great spot to take the family. Nestled in town and surrounded by a beautiful park.
Had a great afternoon with family for an outing
Went to enchanted forest. Great every year with friendly staff.
Great place to take the kids! My son loved every minute of it, he got to pet chickens and see all kinds of animals. the little park they have under the tunnel is great and there is often peacocks or other birds roaming around. the store is a little expensive but overall a great place in the summer. Also Jeff grabbed a air compressor and filled the tires on our stroller! So appreciated!
Always a good place to take the kids. The train ride was pretty cool!
Great place to take the family. Some exhibits not open, but most are there and good to visit.
Kids had a blast. They have a great little park.
Great zoo always trying to make great changes for the animals
We rented the house for a family function. Beautiful location, well-shaded, clean, well-equipped. Highly recommended.
Great place to spend a few hours or all day with the kids. Nice picnic areas. Good variety of wildlife to see. Enclosures are always in good condition and animals look well.
Organized that everyone go the same way due to covid and was a wondeful afternoon spent outside.
Great place to get out on a nice winter day!
Great place to bring the kids and to play pokemon go.
We are lucky to have this in Saskatchewan. Great place to see animals and spend a half to a full day with the family. The zoo is well maintained with friendly staff. Plenty of value in going back.
My little girl had a good time, I just wish more if the exhibits were open
Perfect especially when going with children who love flowers or critters.
Great place to take kids for a outdoor walk to see the different winter animals
Great place to take the family. Some exhibits not open, but most are there and good to visit.
Not much to see, but the price was right and our little guy loved the bald eagles
Very cute to bring kids. They're building a butterfly pavilion, can't wait to see it.
Well laid out paths. People generally keep distanced. A great variety of animals and a fair price for a family.
I love walking through the forestry farm. There's a gate right next to the driving lane with a great path. Occasionally in the summer the sprinklers are on when I'm walking so I have to be careful.
I love this place. It's so spread out. You don't have to be bumping into people all the time. If I wasn't so far away, I'd definitely visit more often.
The zoo itself is not impressive and considering that, the price for admission is not worth what you see but the surrounding park and picnic areas are a nice place to visit and walk around.
Absolutely love the experience. Great staff, very enjoyable experience
A wonderful place to visit and support.
A amazing night!
This is a great zoo for a relatively small City. A diverse selection of animals to view. As an added bonus you can Pokemon Go all around the park because there are a lot of pokestops inside the zoo.
Great place to spend a couple of hours with the family. Excellant displays and interesting animal exhibits.
Nice zoo
We LOVE the forestry farm, its a great place to take the kids. Great opportunity to get active, get some fresh air and learn about different animals.
Great to take family to.
Fun place nice parks cute animals
Be nice to see more animals but I guess covid stops that which is understandable
Beautiful festival of lights!
It was a great place to bring the kids for the day. We were able to see most of the animals, and the lynx were even getting fed while we were there.
Small zoo Zoo is well-maintained. However, variety of animals is very less compared with other zoos across Canada. Good place for a family picnic with small kids. The kids will enjoy it anyway.
It's an alright zoo, we do visit it every few years, the kids enjoy it, but the cages are small for animals, not enough room for them at all. But in winter for Christmas they decorate it and it's fun to drive around there looking at everything. Which we really do enjoy.
The park is well taken care of, grass was quite long and the wasps were bad but we were having a picnic so food is likely the reason. The staff saw we had alot of people and brought us another picnic table which was super awesome. The McDonalds playground is well taken care of and the kids loved watching the geese in the pond nearby.
Awesome place for families
Thanks to the wonderful female zoo keeper answering all my questions. The daycare children love coming here. LOL still ask where the train is!!!!
Great exercise. Great place for kids. Well kept exhibits.
Always a fun time touring the zoo
A nice place to go for a walk in the winter
Small, not too much to really see or do. Clean and well kept. Some picnic sites just outside, but also the park right beside, so lots of places to sit for a picnic or bbq. Does have food available to buy inside the zoo, also rental strollers, which is handy
Fun way to spend the afternoon. I have been there several times and never disappoints
New upgrades are nice. More bathroom options would be nice - it's an extremely long walk from one end of the park, with small children to get to the closest batbroom
There were animals. Some of them made funny noises until they were bought ice cream by their chaperones.
Lovely place to visit. The play ground was we'll set out giving the adults time to rest and the children room to let off energy.
The Saskatoon forestry farm park is a beautiful space for families to meet and children to play. It is the home to Saskatoon's zoo as well as an awesome cricket pitch. As I understand it, there's even a fishing pond. But that's all garbage compared to what I'm about to tell you. For Google has asked me to review the entrance. The Forestry Farm Park entrance is one of Saskatoon's most prestigious paths a car can go in order to leave a common street and egress into a different area or zone. Seconded only by the mysterious entrance to the Woodlawn Cemetery (or perhaps thirded by that little dip into the Midtown Plaza parade my wife says I drive too fast down), the Forestry Farm entrance is by far the best entrance. It has a booth to authenticate your visit, it has an additional lane for exits in order to minimize front-end damage to your vehicle, and is much easier to drive through than the manned door gate in the chain link fence One time I spent three quarters of an hour waiting to drive through that entrance (with a added bonus of looking at pretty Christmas lights). The evening did not disappoint. I wholly and most genuinely encourage you to treat yourself to a gateway to enjoyment, then continue out the other side of that bliss, and stick around for all that other cool stuff I mentioned earlier. It'll be a good time.
Not that many animals
Way way way too many enclosures are empty PLUS up keep is terrible in the zoo and gardens. Not worth price of admission. The most frustrating thing about the zoo is the lack of information on the few animals they have. Add to that, that much of the little info they have is posted u professionally, hand written, or hanging from strings.
Fun un the winter
Was decent there doing renos and the one way paths leave some areas un accessible the new Glass enclosures are better then the chain link.
It was good, I recommend for children.
This zoo has a Red Panda which is one of the main attractions with a huge enclosure all to itself. The plaque says his brother was sent to the San Diego Zoo, which sounds way cooler. But, that Red Panda has a small cage and is tucked to the side as you line-up to for the Real Pandas. I'm not sure who got the better deal.
We wanted to enjoy at the zoo, but unfortunately they dont allow access with service dog, not even to the park without visiting animals????
Always enjoy this place with kids, good for kids to learn and for them to play.
Pygmy goats are pretty cool. Don't know where the third one went though. Would like to know.
Very nice trout pond, excellent day.
Small zoo, but easy to walk to each exhibit. The two grizzly bears were our favorite! Would recommend.
So beautiful ????
Beautiful animals
Great little zoo. The covid virus has caused the losure of alot of the attractions but it's still nice.
Nice place for a walk but there aren't a lot of animals compared to other city zoos.
We went years ago and it was great. We went Aug 2020 and what a disappointment. Hardly any animals. No monkeys are being shown this year - probably due to Covid. We were in and out in about an hour.
Played football there, best for sun-basking & to enjoy the place with kids!
Always fun to watch the animals. Nice new playground. The zoo isn't all that interesting for adults, but the kids always seem to love it.
There is lots of variety of animals for a prairie province, a play area for kids and a snack bar with good food! Lots of benches to sit while walking around. The highlight for me was the white buffalo!
Free during the winter, so it makes a great place to go for a walk and see some animals!
Good place to visit
The zoo is always worth the visit. It's a smaller zoo but they are always working hard to make it better and add new animals and features.
Great place to go for a walk during the winter months (it's free during winter)
A great place to take the family!
Lovely and well kept park and zoo. The zoo had cool animals but not quite much. Entry tickets cost 12.50$/ adult
Staff were polite and courteous. They have it set up so you can only go one way through the zoo. Thus, making social distancing easier.
Happy place
We have an annual membership and I bring my kids here several times per week. Sometimes we picnic, sometimes we ride the train, sometimes we just play on the brand new accessible playground or go to the fishing pond but I absolutely love it. Lots of times I make a fire and barbecue our meal before we go to the zoo.
Best lights I've seen beautiful
Great spot to spend an afternoon. Covid guidelines are in place and work well. A path is marked through the park and takes give or take an hour. Buildings are closed affecting some exhibits.
Our zoo needs more animals! We barely saw any...including the birds. The meerkats were adorable! Lol saw more squirrels than anything else. Although the trees are are turning color and that was spectacular!
Hope there sre many animsls
Free to visit in the winter and beautiful with lots of open spaces and benches for families and a great playground.
Nice & conviniet place for picnic.
Wonderful place for family and kids. Nice way to spend an afternoon with your sweetheart. Saskatoon should be proud!
Hardly any animals worth looking at and concession serves gross slushies....would not go back..
Very nice family picnic place. It is surrounded by trees and small lake. Just next to it is a zoo. Forestry farm has vehicle entry fee of 2 CAD and zoo has entry fees of 12.5 per adult and 7.5 for kids from 6 to 12. There is a family pass available at 25 CAD. The zoo have stroller and trolley renting as well with respective 2 and 3 CAD. Zoo is surely a long walk. We thoroughly enjoyed the park. We were part of a program and that had some arrangements worked out....so please confirm the fees with them again. It's a good half day family fun spot.
Clean and a variety of animals. Love that they bring in different animals every now and then. We've seen the komodo dragons and dingos!
The Christmas Light tour is amazing and gets bigger and better each year. Then, in summer, the zoo is wonderful. A great place to take the family and to relax.
Fun place to go with kids. Love seeing their excitement when they see the animals. Cool to see new animal exhibits come and go. Keeps the place fresh. Decent food there for to have a lunch afterwards. Plus you can have a picnic there. And their is a little playground there to make sure kids have even more fun. Great to go multiple time a year.
The forestry farm is always an enjoyable place to visit. There is a good variety of animals, a number of interactive learning activities and play areas for children. During the winter months entrance is free, though the gift shop and food venue is closed.
theres a good amount of animals and they seem to be treated right, also have a play ground and shop
Nice scenery, bbq pit, fishing pond, and a playground close by, you have to buy a fishing license and fire wood from the park, but a really good family place
Its free November to April. Great place to go on warmer winter days. The childrens zoo building and the activity centre provide nice warming up spots.
Enjoyed the Zoo very much. Great place for families with children.
There were very few animals and some of them were in very bad shape. I mean, silver wolf's, who would like cold condition, pond was completely dried up and I could see it was suffering in 35 degrees. ????????
Good prices and friendly staff!
Not all the animals are out yet due to the time of year but the ones that were out were nice.
I wouldn't recommend visiting in the fall. It's chilly to be walking around outside and the animals, if they are out, are less lively. I'm not sure of this is a "humane" zoo or not (if the animals are there mainly for show).
Great zoo!
Great place to bring your family and have a great picnic. It is also a good place for photography.
Fun and a entertaining winter experience! Highly recommended ????
Always love coming to the Forestry Farm. Great way to expose people to the beauty of the natural world. Hopefully it will inspire future generations to love our planet and the wildlife we are charged with protecting. Love coming here
Great place free till may
Love going here a few times a year. However, the closure of many animal exhibits and the brutal hours (4pm closing time) make it less enticing and harder to get there after work. Seeing as how the best time to see most of the animals active is after 7pm, please consider adjusting your hours accordingly.
When I first arrived to Saskatoon this was one of the first places I visited. This Zoo is small but has a lot to offer. It mostly concentrated on the animals that live in Canada so they have bears, wolves, owls and other mammals that reside here in Canada. There’s also a select few exotic animals. They had the red panda for a bit and Komodo dragons. It is a very nice landscaped zoo. There’s chickens that walk around freely. So cute lol. Same with the peacocks. They have a good sized children’s play area. A decent concession and a really nice little gift shop. Really like this zoo.
Friendly people and the light show was great
I had a terrible experience with my family this last weekend when we had unnecessary encounter with a security guard at the park. As a group of families with children we needed to go to the washrooms by 6.55pm and because you cannot really control children we were late until 7.04 pm when the guard came pounding on doors and being so rude and very angry. He started taking pictures of our cars and ignored us when we asked why he was doing that. We tried to explain to him that we had children and they needed to go to washrooms, but he just went back to his car and left saying "This is the law and I will give you all tickets". There were other people at the washroom at the same time that he did not even approach!! He was obviously being very selective talking to us this way. This is the first time we experience this type of attitude at the park. The park personnel were usually welcoming and friendly. We left by 7.06 and the park closes 7.00pm so I think what happened was uncalled for.
Wide variety of animals. All tame and pettable. Great for kids and kids at heart.
Nice place to go walking with family or friends. Cute critters as usual. ( T.W. sometimes they leave out dead chicks around birds of prey enclosures so thats a bit gross)
Forestry Farm is a great place to go for a walk. Beautiful place.
I'll be honest - I hate zoos. I only go because my kids want to go. I try to be enthusiastic about them, but it's hard. We've been to the Winnipeg Zoo several times (a very expensive venture for our family of 7), and I find it overwhelming. The Forestry Park Zoo is the right size for me - not too big, but big enough to make the kids happy. The kids saw a bunch of animals, it was reasonably priced (I think it was $25 for my whole family, vs. almost $100 for Winnipeg), and the train ride was fun. I was slightly disappointed that a chunk was under redevelopment, but that's life.
Great place to go and be with family and fresh air, also great price on seasonal pass.
Well organized in response to COVID, felt comfortable with kids being there. Lots of pokestops!
Great! One thing though that really disturbed me was the poor little capucin monkey, she is so sad and miserable. She had her little hands on the grill /window and desperately wanted to go outside. Her cage was indoors, dark and she was alone. I couldn't stop thinking about her. I hope they give her a better life. This is unacceptable.
Half the exhibits were either closed or no animals visible. Waste of time & money!
Amazing place for having fun and bbq
Visiting in the winter is a super fun experience. Most of the animals are out and entry fee is by donation
Every time I go I think "I should come here more."
Such a great little zoo. Easy to spend 4 hours there looking at animals, enjoying the park and playing on the new play structure. The train tour is just right to get to know the zoo, and see the park. Highly recommend it for a good morning or afternoon activity
This review is for the park surrounding the actual Zoo. Beautiful park. Lots of trees, grassy areas, a modern playground. Canadian Geese (in the right season) randomly around the park. A store to get cold drinks and a snack. The grounds staff are friendly and hard at work, keeping the park beautiful. This is all free if you enter on the pedestrian paths. Vehicle traffic has a modest fee.
My go to place for fun day with family. Lots of areas to BBQ, nice big playground for children. Lots of parking spots as well. Love the little fishing pond as well. You will always see staff members cleaning the place. The zoo is a great attraction for kids as well. Perfect for an adventurous day for the kids!
Love our zoo. It's a small zoo with older style pens but they are slowly upgrading and it is going to be great.
I did 4 because there wenert that much animals everthing else was good.
Wasn't many animals out to look at but kids had fun
Lovely local animal far. The grizzly bears are amazing to see.
My friends and I really enjoyed the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo. I never really had any ambition to go there but I would recommend everyone of all ages to go and see everything there. As a small-town person, it's a nice getaway from the city.
The park has been a favourite spot for my kids this winter.
Great place to take the kids out for a walk. They do also have a concession stand where you can get ice cream along other treats.
Loved the zoo. I was so excited when I saw the bears there. The sheeps were nice as well. We will definitely go back. Highly recommended. Excellent place to visit with family and friends.
Alright, most animals you could see outside anyways. Cool monkeys though
It's a zoo, not much else to say. Animals abound!
Enchanted Forest was excellent. Especially loved the tribute to the Healthcare Workers.
Many cages are empty. Expensive considering low amount of animals
Beautiful place for walk , bbq and picnics, kids playground, fishing pond , and zoo !!
Always a great place to visit
I've been to the zoo about a year ago , it was amazing. Now I take my son and my wife to check it out, boasting about how great it was. Boy were we ever disappointed. Barely any animals, we basically walked which I can do at any other park without paying 3 dollars for parking and 26 dollars for me, my wife and son. I see more animals in my back yard!!. I get it, it's pandemic, and the place is getting an upgrade, but at least give us a discount or inform us that some animals are not there. Very disappointed. Would really love my money back because it was definitely not worth it!
Took some ppl to the saskatoon zoo
First time there. Decorations and themes totally awesome. If in Saskatoon at Xmas time, a definite must see.
More office buildings and less exhibits...kinda the wrong direction guys. Cafe food was absolutely awful. Nice walk though ????
Went to this with family because they told me the Zoo was actually a rehabilitation center for injured animals .... I seen a very distressed wolf pacing back and forth because two humans were in its cage and he felt threatened and outnumbered. Eagles and hawks in cages that have no opportunity to hunt, fly . Dingos who just cry . Bears with electric fencing at the perimeter . It was depressing and inhumane, in my opinion .
Lots of animals. Great green space to walk around. Lots of information on the plaques to learn about the animals. There are no long lines.
Didnt tell us at the time of ticket purchase that half of the zoo is closed.
Good park area but Zoo is OK not enough animal that you can enjoy to watch , but there is train with guide that can let you tour the zoo...
The program for school children is wonderful and there staff was great with the kids
I have passed nice time with family and friends ????
My first visit with family from out of town. I feel that it is too expensive at $12.50. There should also be a better seniors rate. I just expected more bang for my buck
A lot of the exhibits were empty and there wasn't a whole lot of places to sit down unless you say in the grass. No stroller rentals (because of COVID), so that kind of sucked. Other than that, the attendants we came into contact with were nice and eager to help out. It wasn't too busy so spacing between people wasn't an issue. The playground was awesome. We spent most of our time there with the kids.
I like it, but it close very early I like to spend some more times at it I hope that you make the a little longer.
It’s pretty cool
At the price we paid and to not see all the animals; it was very disappointing! Not to mention all the geese! The very aggressive geese! It wasn't fun for the kids!
My 2 year old and I come here often. She always has a blast, the animals are always great, the new playground is fantastic as well.
A beautiful location and ability to see many Canadian critters such as a porcupine, lynx, many different types of deer, goats, a number of birds, all surrounded by squirrels that boldly run across their enclosures! A nice education center as well tailored to children.
Good value mostly animals native to North America, the grizzly bears were very awesome! Just a nice little. Piece of nature in the city!
toes.
Great place to spend an afternoon. Price is right for a couple hours of afternoon enjoyment. Be sure to check out the meerkats.
It’s a great place to visit in the summertime :)
At this time of year admission to the forestry farm is free so that's a plus. Although not as many animals were available, those that were out were much more active and seemed less intimidated. I'm sure it's because of the much lower number of people. It was really neat to see the bighorn sheep and mountain goats and other animals with their winter coats.
Alot of exhibits are closed or empty. No elk and only seen 1 deer.
Our boys love this place , it’s like a vacation close to home .
Easy to reach. Free parking. Entry is not free. Good place for kids.
There was alot animals to get a chance to learn about and I was also able to share my experience with my loved one .
Was hoisting substation equipment, and was a contractor hired by dynamo electric . Great company to work with .
Love coming here to walk around with the family. Zoo and park are kept very clean and staff are always amazing to deal with. A lot of fun to have a BBQ with family and have the kids play in the playground. Definately recommend coming here for the day if you haven't before or it has been a while
Good place for kids, but not too interesting to adults.
After visiting other zoo's for comparison in different provinces, it's a shame to see such horrible conditions for the animals. Please, people, reconsider visiting zoo's like this that keep a bear in a 15x15 foot enclosure. How cruel. This place should be closed down and visited by animal welfare.
Great for children and adults. A mini zoo with big personalities
The Trout pond is a fun place to fish early morning. Great for picnic with family or big group. Then there is the Zoo with all the animals to see.
One of the best places I can think of to take young explorers or people keen to learn about some of our native animals and some from far away climates. They have great staff that are willing to do what they can to make it an enjoyable experience. The gift shop and confectionery are also great places to get a memory for your visit or a snack to cool off.
Great day, wish there was more of it open
I was so terribly disappointed with the zoo, we took our family there Aug 4th 2020... we paid full price to get into the park but was never told that the zoo is under a lot of construction and most of the animals r not even around, we didn't see a lot of things, or it was all blocked off... it wouldn't have been so bad had we been told about all the maintenance going on, and reduced our entry fees.. wont be doing that again ????
I have a great time there with friends and family
Great experience
Visited out of boredom, stayed for the sassy grizzly bears.
We were there for a lovely outdoor wedding. Very picturesque.
Great place to walk around on a winter day
Nice little zoo. Pleasantly surprised.
Still nice to go see in the winter on a nice day.
Very pretty and good paths. In the past they've had some really interesting animals. They're also repairing the road to get in which is well needed. A few down sides are their current lack of animals, small cages, and confusing exit. Overall this zoo is decent for the size of the city but nothing spectacular.
On our way to the Saskatoon zoo with my son in haven't seen in a long time awe was funn there I haven't been to the zoo since I was 5 or 6 that was the last time I remember going their
There are carefully maintained rustic paths for seeing the animals. Lots of trees, flowers, shrubs, ponds and amazing animals.
Last night we went to this zoo. I would not say that the zoo is great but its OK for little children. Mostly, the zoo has various types of birds, goats, and deer. Among animals, the most interesting animals were a black grisly bear and a cougar. It was a good place.
It was so much fun I loved it took lots of pictures and videos
We enjoyed the zoo. Can't wait for there to be more to see and new animals.. But the biggest upset was the playground in the zoo. Its old and very hard for younger children to use. Also not very stroller accessible that tunnel is short.
The park and zoo has great grounds with wide spaces great for children.
Best place in the city to go for a walk or take the kids.
Nice zoo with new animals added on a regular basis. Free entry for most of the year except during the summer. They have been adding new features for the last few years and vastly improved the park.
Great place to go for a walk in winter
A great place to spend the day with family. The zoo is constantly improving with big changes over the last year and more to come!
Better than expected. Great for kids or an afternoon walk
Mostly domestic like animals like ducks, geese and such. But I'd a good family time, it does have lions, bears, monkeys, deer, elk, and bison. Enjoyable facility that looks like it keeps improving.
The cougars are quite impressive, but there are quite a few exhibits not operational atm. Also, why is the (shorter) line for season pass holders never operational. Still, probably one of the best places to take a 3 year old in Saskatoon.
Was an ok visit, needs more animals and activities though...
Good times! Got head from a zoo keeping. Overall good times
Always a good time but remember to stay alert and stay safe.....the geese aren't always friendly and no you can't pet them
The Zoo is an amazing place with great staff. The leadership has a great vision for what's next. Many animals are off exhibit in the winter, but many that remain on exhibit are far more active in the winter, such as the cougars and wolves.
Not a lot of animals in my opinion. The white wolf looked so skinny ????
Last time i was here was about 15 years ago. Brought my kids here for the first time and they absolutely enjoyed it! Family pass is super affordable.
Such a great place to spend an afternoon. Lots of animals to see and learn about. There is a nice little play area plus plenty of space to sit and have a picnic. There is a consession, but it is a little over priced. It is wheel chair, stroller, scooter (for persons with reduced mobility) friendly.
Always a great time beautiful in the fall!
Good for Kids
