Reviews of Grizzly Bear Interpretive Centre (Zoo)

1500 Kicking Horse Trail, Golden, BC V0A 1H0, Canada

Average Rating:

DESCRIPTION

We've got all the feddbacks of people who have information of the services of Grizzly Bear Interpretive Centre (Zoo) in the territory of Banff (Canada).

Right now the business receives a rating of 4.1 stars out of 5 and this score has been based on 45 reviews.

As you can see the average of ratings is quite good, and it is based on a very large number of reviews, so we can think that the evaluation is quite accurate. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well, it works.

You know that we do not usually stop to set scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...

This Zoo corresponds to the category of Wildlife refuge.

We arrived at the worse time (noon).... waited patiently for 2 hours and finally got to see Boo!

People operating ski lift are careless morons who don't explain how it works and don't give a damn if you fall down and kill yourself

Emmanuel Erba

Fantastic place. Boo is such a diva. Beautiful place.

Nathalie Filiatrault

Awesome!????

Make sure you call and make reservations ahead and you not guaranteed to see bear same visit but they will give you free ticket for second visit if you around

Joachim Keittelmann

Lovely refuge for Boo the grizzly who was orphaned at 5 months and is now 16 years old. He enjoys a 20 acre plot all to himself and is quite easily viewed. The guides tell his story in an interesting manner and overall it was a lovely experience.

When we visited the center at Aug 2019 there was only one bear there, but it still well worth visiting. What made it an awesome visit was the wonderful tour where one of the girls explained all about the bears and also about the center. And the bear, called Boo was grazing right behind her all the time. You get to see the bear when you’re in the gondola to the eagles eyes center at the summit.

It's great to see people looking after nature. Boo is asleep inside his house .

If you are looking to get very up close and personal with a grizzly bear and still remain in one piece this is the place for you. The grizzly bear has approximately 20 acres of fenced in living space and has been in captivity since a very early age and accustomed to humans being near buy.

Our experience was amazing!! We opted for the adventure pack that starts at 9:00am and Boo was very close to the fence and that will definitely be the closest we will ever get to a feeding Grizzly Bear! Boo literally husked some corn on the cob right in front of us and gently nibbled off all of the kernels. Afterwards, he ate an entire Yam that was the size of a football. I would recommend this to anyone!

Boo and Nicole (the bear lady) were amazing. Nicole was very informative and friendly. We had Boo in sight for entire duration of our tour. It was a memorable experience. Thanks again for all the knowledge you shared.

(Translated) We are very disappointed. For $ 30 we were allowed to take the chairlift a bit to look at a piece of mountain, but after 45 minutes we didn't see Boo. Very expensive chairlift ride (Original) We zijn erg teleurgesteld. Voor $30 mochten we een stukje met de stoeltjeslift mee om naar een stuk berg te kijken, maar na 45 min geen Boo gezien. Erg duur ritje met de stoeltjeslift

(Translated) hopefully and you can see the bear (Original) con suerte y puedes ver al oso

I feel like the location of this place needs clarification. It's not at the bottom of the mountain as the marker on the map implies. You have to take a chair lift up to get to the place. If you're looking to go to the restaurant too, you take the chair lift all the way back down and then take the gondola up to the restaurant. Aim for the 10:00 am tour! Any other time and Boo could be napping. Staff said even on hot days he can start napping at 11.

Great information and stories from great interpreters. Held the kids captivated for almost 2 hours before the bear was spotted.

We did the 3pm tour on Aug 12th (Last tour of the day). The guide was great and gave the group interesting information on bears, re: behaviour, habitat, as well as Boo’s background story (the grizzly living on the mountain). The reason for this rating is the price. This is way too expensive for what it is. It costs 35$ per person, and we were 4 adults so total of 140$. We got to see Boo for literally 2 min at the end of the 1h-tour (We did arrive 10 min late but the group did not see Boo for those 10 minutes neither). It is worth noting that they do offer another free tour if you don’t get to see Boo, but frankly, most people going there are probably tourists and don’t have the time to go back there another day. I feel better thinking that they probably have those high rates to help feed and support Boo... Overall, nice explanations, friendly staff, but too expensive. Probably very nice for your kids. Oh, and go on the first or last tour of the day for increased chances of seeing Boo.

(Translated) We take a chairlift to go 7700 ft. altitude to see the grizzly refuge but finally arriving at the top, I thought we could walk on many trails (the hike is super short, barely 10 min.) and that we would see Boo the grizzly but alas it doesn’t never came ... very disappointed with my experience ... and it's still expensive!

Bernard Grabowiecki

Darling bear, and the guides were very engaging and informative.

Tim Wright

Boo is a big, but very cute bear. You need to take the gondola up the mountain to see him. The staff was very friendly. Recommended.
