You have the reviews of real people who buy the products and services of Seneca Park Zoo (Zoo) in Asbestos (Canada).
Currently this business has a score of 4.5 stars out of 5 and that rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see its rating is basically the highest, and it is founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we may say that the score is quite accurate. If people have bothered to give their opinion when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to set evaluations when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Zoo is included in the category of Zoo.
Very nice, small city zoo. Walkable, kid friendly, and inexpensive.
Pretty good minus the Rochester people attitude, finding a parking spot and not all the animals are exhibited. BUFFALO ZOO was better
The exhibits are great, staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The kids and parents both enjoy the day here????????so many memories made here
went to see animals and most of the cages area had no animals. only saw 5 animals and food was over priced. $7.75 for 1 hotdogs only. not worth the visit
I enjoyed very much my visit to the zoo! The animals are very well taken care of and have a very spacious living ambient. Hope to come back soon!

What a fun zoo! Several exhibits are incomplete right now, but it is a great place for kids!
Sadly this zoo is not what it used to be. It's been about 5 years since I have been to this zoo. The new extension has been completed. Looks great but the animals seem lifeless/tired everytime we visit. Luckily the cost of admission is pretty minimal so you don't feel like you've wasted your money.
Nostalgia trip. Impressed by upgrade of the zoo

This place was precious! Super clean and family friendly. I don’t have kids, but I love how there were places for children to play and have fun. It was such a nice atmosphere. And bonus, they’ve added new animals and there are more to come soon! Can’t wait to feed the giraffes!????

It should get better in a couple years when the new Welcome Center and Tropics Complex are completed. For now, SPZ is down a few animals (orangutans, alligators, bald eagles, hyena, python), some from passing away and some due to the renovations. Also, the remaining ones may not be as active as one would hope. The main highlights are red pandas, snow leopard, tiger, penguins, sea lions, polar bear, lions, baboons, elephants, rhino, giraffes and zebras. Price is still not too bad.

We love this zii. Super kid friendly, lots of animals, great free parking and never any issues. Definitely a place you must visit.
There are a lot of exhibits closed. Much smaller. Even so it was still so much fun and such a great day with our family!
Extraordinary. Well mantaimed and always something new being implemented.
The Zoo its a place without comparisons. One of my favorite place to have fun with my children.

Had so much fun and saw a lot of animals despite the chilly weather. Plenty of buildings and to warm up in between the exhibits too.
It's huge. Kid's loved it, adults did too.
Took my children while on vacation in the area. They had so much fun. A nice, enjoyable, a place made for the family to spend the day. Have been recommending it to everyone I talk to since!!!
If you're in the area, it's a good little zoo. We commuted 3hrs each way for a day trip... wasn't quite worth that. Kids had fun though, and that's all that ultimately matters.
Very nice, small zoo with a good variety of animals. There's essentially one path taking you from the entrance all the way to the back, so you get to see all the exhibits twice. Almost every single species was visible, which made the trip extra enjoyable. There's a nice mix of indoor and outdoor veiwing. Staff was sparce, but very friendly and knowledgeable. My only complaint was that they only had food open at the front of the zoo. It would have been great to buy at least a hot beverage at the back of the zoo to enjoy on our return walk.

We had a very nice time here!
Great family day
Terrible living sanctuaries for wild animals! The pythons are too big for their small glass enclosures and the wildcats can't roam free around the empty fenced in land! How could the employees blindly support this company even after watching day by day neglect! This angers me and I bet it'd upset plenty of wildlife rescue organizations as well! When will the captivity of wild animal's become more safe and comfortable for the animals themselves! They deserve better! And I hope to find these neglected animals a new home, somewhere preferably closer to their natural habitat and climate, UNLIKE THE COLD STATE OF NEW YORK.
I support Seneca Park Zoo very much I am a member and they take very good care of the animals.
This zoo is old and has a great regimen to care for its animals

Lots of amazing animals and many of them seemed more content and playful than other zoos I have visited. All of the new play areas and kid friendly areas are awesome! So many improvements since I was a child. They have a good system in place to reduce the spread of covid and was easy to navigate the zoo.
Very nice zoo! Good variety of animals & reasonable admission fee.
A nice assortment of animals who were active while we were there. The giraffe and zebra addition is terrific.
My grandson definitely had a great time, even though he didn't get to see the tigers ???????????? I will most definitely go again next time in town.

Real good land for ground life learning for all ages, top 9 in all US must visit !!!! Just take out your physical plastic id non or gov either one fine, and just hold that level to your wherever and look...notice any outerspace virus, or unicorn mermaid that breath out immortal vaccinex...
My only warning is not to come right when they open unless you plan on staying for a while. A lot of the animals arent out yet due to feeding.
I love the Seneca Park Zoo. It's always clean, warm and inviting. They're always improving it and making it better for all the patrons.

People are doing their best to promote social distancing & respecting space even though it felt like a lot of people were there. Social distancing worked well when adults allowed other children to move along at their own pace instead of trying to rush them through.
This is a nice small zoo with a small food court, gift shop and those cute penny dies. Reasonable price. As with any zoo, you are at the mercy of he animals-when they will be out and active. What I found is that it was easy to pass by the same animal exhibit multiple times and would finally see them out and about. Being early in the season, not all the animal exhibits were occupied. I was unable to see the seals, sea lion, otters, meercat and alligator. Seeing the bald eagles, snowy owl, lynx, hyena, orangutans, white rhino, penguins, elephants, and lions and some species I've never heard of, made up for it. This zoo offers some close up (but safe) vantage points. Aside from a very thick piece of glass between us, I was literally 3" from the face of a lioness. It was cool! It's easy to get around and just the right size for little ones.
You can tell the workers love theor jobs! They're more then happy to answer questions and educate you on the animals. Some enclosures seem very small, like the tiger exhibit. But others have recently grown, like the grey wolves and the african habitats. Overall a great place to go with amazing people and animals.
Great place to bring the family. A nice selection of animals. Didn’t get to see the polar bears, lions, or snow leopards that day but hey it’s always luck. Keep in mind the front part of the zoo is under construction and some parts are still closed thanks to the pandemic.

Just recently had a birthday party here. Was truly an awesome experience for my 5 yr old. Party room was clean and well kept. Our hostess was very friendly and awesome with the children. Our animal meet and greet was a one of kind experience. After the party we walked around the zoo for a bit. Its kind of cold so not all the animals were out. This zoo is clean and easy to navigate. Definitely take the time to check it out!
The Seneca Park Zoo is great. I may not have lived here all my life, but family visits has allowed me to see the zoo since I was a little boy. I have watched it change over the years, for the better every time. During these times with Covid and everything else going on, it is nice to walk and the zoo. You still need to wear a mask, make a reservation or set a time, and follow a route through the zoo. Funny enough my wife and I usually did that route anyway. There are still some people who do not like to follow the rules, not wear the mask correctly, so on and so forth. No need to go into detail there. I do feel sorry for the workers who have to keep telling people to put the masks on properly. During this visit, we got to see almost all the animals this time. I am bad with their names so I will keep with which animal we couldn't see this time. The tiger did not come out, no surprise really. The polar bear was not out, it was really warm out, so yeah. I think the Red Panda was keeping cool inside as well. We actually saw the Penguins, they didn't swim, but they were out front. We had a great time as usual, it is a great place to take a nice lazy stroll and see lots of interesting stuff as you do. Need some exercise or just want to get out, grab a time, buy tickets and go for a nice walk with the family or with that special someone or treat yourself (you deserve it).

I went here to help my friend on an eagle project, and the staff were so friendly! We were installing a new perch for the snow leopards and the staff were happy to help move certain large pieces. Even in the rain I had an awesome time!

My husband and I were excited to visit this place because neither of us had ever been. We went on a weekday around 1pm. The day was cloudy, breezy, and cool. We were disappointed that quite a few of the animals were not available to see. We were unable to see the hyena, snow leopard, otters, lemurs, crane, and quite a few of the reptiles and amphibians. Overall we enjoyed the animals we did see and the staff was very friendly.
Very fun place to go! They've added a few new animals like the red pandas that were super adorable! The only thing is try to pick a day that isn't very hot out (if there is one) because a few of the animals weren't out which was a bummer.
Some go to see the animals. Some to play on the playgrounds. Everyone has fun. And you always learn something new about the animals.
A great evolving zoo. Just the right size to keep kids engaged. Giraffe exhibit opening in July!
Fantastic visit today, 1st day open after the COVID-19 closure. Staff& animals were visibly happy to have guests back; my kids were thrilled to return. Sarah in small animal care in the giraffe building went out of her way to talk to my kids about some of the animals, their names, when they like to come out, and help them find a few. :-) Can’t wait to come back!
Was very disappointed walking in to see all of the construction going on. The main building near the entrance was torn down along with a lot of childhood memories. After wandering a little way into the zoo, I was extremely impressed with the new exhibits, and happy to see that they are investing in local attractions. Although disappointed at first, I am glad to see money being invested for future generations to enjoy the zoo. Great job, and I look forward to visiting again once the exhibits near the main entrance are complete!
Outstanding place for kids and elder persons, full of variety of animals, its place to visit
Awesome time with my sister and father(who's in a wheelchair) and it's very accessible for everyone.
All animals very active, more active in the cold weather. Old building in the front demolished, new exhibit going in. So much more modern and better for the animals.
Fun zoo... looks like they are putting in some new habitats. Not huge so not too tiring. Great grands enjoyed the crawl-in enclosures where they could see some animals up close. Convenient picnic area inside the entrance.
I've been coming here since I was a kid, and now bring my family for outings. Our zoo keeps getting better and better. Exhibits are amazing, very informative, and there is a great focus on species conservation/education. Great place to visit year round, my kids love the playground areas, and the Giraffe area is incredible. Food services is overpriced, and poor quality - they do let you bring in your own snacks/drinks. Note: not exactly wheelchair friendly. The path for the zoo goes down a hill, and there's a long hill climb back up to get back to the entrance. My husband had to push his mother in a wheelchair up that hill and it was very hard to do. Bring cash for the tram when it's operational.
This Zoo is fantastic. All of the animals were out today. The staff is super friendly, and the cost of admission is more than fair for such a nice zoo. My daughter got to feed Giraffes!!! This is really a great place. So much in a not so huge space so not tons of walking. Great play area for kids. RUN DON'T WALK TO THIS ZOO. FREE PARKING!
Nice little zoo in a scenic surrounding. Couldn't see the Polar bear though, bad luck!
Apples, Ales and Tails was a terrific event, hope you do it every year!
Very nice zoo, animals looked healthy. I expected it to be a bit bigger, but we were very happy with our visit.
Probably the coolest zoo in Western NY. There's always a new exhibit going on and the animals look well taken care of. My favorite events are the Zoo Brew events! If you haven't heard of it, then you should definitely check it out. The Zoo Brrrrrew should come back for winter 2019. What's better than brews, animals, and informational exhibits! Great zoo and great staff. I haven't had any of the food but the menu looks American style like hot dogs, burgers, and garbage plates. The gift shop is simple but has plenty of gift ideas for birthdays, Christmas, etc. Awesome zoo!
They have a lot of animals i love the penguins
Love the Duck Lake at the "bottom" of Zoo. Take the kids to feed the ducks, geese and swan.
I was surprised how nice the zoo was. The young kids working were all very nice and courteous. The lion exhibit is fantastic, can't wait to see when they are done with renovations.

It's great to see the construction of new and upgraded exhibits!
Zoo is very small. Enclosures are tiny and the animals look depressed. Staff keeps everything super clean and I saw several interact with the animals while cleaning up. Why is there soooo much space dedicated to random trees and plants when that space should be used for the animals? I saw the donating board with Millions of dollars being give..really a shame. Will not be coming back.
Love this zoo! So much to see at a good price! Animals seem well taken care of as well!
Went to the zoo in the fall and it was great! No heat, no crowds, all the animals were out and about. The staff was there to answer questions and we even got to hang out with African penguins!
Great zoo for the family. My favorite was the elephants. It was 90 degrees when we went, a lot of the animals were sleeping or in the shade where you couldn’t see them. So I recommend going on a cooler day. Pretty large zoo with lots of small hills, so be prepared to walk. Don’t worry though, if you get tired easy (like me) their are plenty of benches to sit down! Parking lot was huge, lots of parking. Prices of tickets okay. If I could recommend something I would recommend replacing the (glass, windows!? Idk what they are) in a lot of the areas, especially the lions area. I know covid has ruined a lot of things but I think the zoo could use a little love. Other than that it was a good experience.
This place is one of the best zoo's I've been to and the new exhibit with the ostrich giraffe and zebra added it's so much better they are even installing a trolley car from the start of the park to the end. I was also the one to suggest the addition of the giraffe zebra and ostrich I told my aunt who is good friends with one of the zoo's directors it took a while but it got added and I'm seeing people that really enjoy it!!!
Loved visiting the zoo. Although this time of year its cold, the animals seemed to love it. People were out an about with their children an the sea lion is a must see. He / she will actually chase a moving toy car up and down the widow an beg u not to stop playing. Its the cutest thing ever. Animals looked very healthy. Was just a nice walk on a cold brisk day...get out and enjoy...photos below...5 stars for this one.
Love the Zoo. Most animals were out and active in the warm winter weather. Friendly staff.

I hadn't been to the zoo in few years. It was a great day. The weather was nice. There were employees at almost every exhibit answering questions. It is a fun safe family friendly place to go. They are expanding the lower part of the zoo, so soon there will be a new part featuring animals from Africa.
Have not been to the zoo in almost 2 years. Got an offer for a discounted membership. As a family of 5, this membership would pay for itself in 1.5 visits. Decided to give it a whirl. Visited the zoo on Easter for something to do to burn off our kids energy and was pleasantly surprised. Was surprised when we walked in and saw the monkey/reptile building was gone. Being that was a huge area of the zoo I was nervous I completely wasted my money on a membership. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. The new exhibits are beautiful! Really enjoyed the giraffes and zebras as well as red pandas. Overall the zoo seemed much cleaner and well kept. Although the monkeys are on a hiatus, we are very pleased with our decision to purchase the membership. The lion experience was also really cool and we enjoyed learning about the lions...I am definitely going to take advantage of these experience times this summer as my kids are now old enough to really enjoy them and understand them.
The zoo is really great for kids, and only getting better! There is a gift shop at either end, two places to get food (they have slightly different menus), play grounds, and both indoor and outdoor animals. A wonderful place to burn 1 to 4 hours. The park is long and skinny. There is a tram that will bring you to either end.
Really great zoo and set up. The lion display is so unique! They did a great job with social distancing by creating one-way paths and only letting a few families into the buildings at a time. I felt very comfortable during my visit.
GREAT BEAUTIFUL ZOO ,Clean and safe TO EXPLORE WITH THE KIDS and Family picnic
The zoo was great. A vast array of wildlife and animals under human care. Plenty of things to do and a lot of places to sit and rest, or eat. Cant wait to see the new tropics center coming soon. Only disappointment was that the red pandas were off exhibit, but that is to be expected from time to time as they are still wild animals who come first. So overall a great experience for families, groups, schools, or solo.
We got to watch the elephants be fed their snack and it was amazing how they could pick up a tiny chex cereal with that huge trunk and with such precision. Then, at the tiger exhibit, the zookeeper came out front to feed the tiger and we had a front row seat for that as well! My grandson made quick friends with one of the volunteers and got to hear all sorts of little details about the different animals. Wonderful zoo :)
Nice quaint zoo, Great place to take kids. Recent addition of a large natural wood/log playground right after the main entrance!!

Seneca Park Zoo is a Rochester gem the zoo would be the first place I would take anyone from out of town. The Animals always look happy and well taken care of and the exhibits are nicely sized for the Animals. It's very easy to access the zoo from any point in the Rochester area it's right off the 104 expressway if you drive or the number 1 Saint Paul bus route stops on Saint Paul Street and than it's a short 10 minute walk to the zoo. My favorite area Is the new animals of the savanna exhibit a must see exhibit if you go the Seneca Park zoo. The Rocky Coasts area is another mist see at the zooThe Sea Lions are very interested in the people watching them and the Polar Bear is usually up and roaming around her habitat.

This was my first time to the zoo. I thought (although small) it was very nice. There are plenty of things to keep a kid occupied. Strollers were everywhere, but it's a zoo so its expected. Parking was easy. Staff were friendly. Will definitely go back.
My family and I visited the Seneca Park Zoo while visiting Rochester. The weather was chilly and we weren't really sure what to expect. This zoo is in the middle of the city, the staff were friendly. A route was planned out to allow social distancing. All of the animals were active, unlike most zoo's where they just sit there. My children particularly loved witnessing the Lions mating call. ???? If you're in the area this is a must see!

A lot of the exhibits are out dated. However, there are several fun interactive things for kids to do. LOTS of walking, and it is not a loop so you have to walk through everything twice.
Very family friendly and a great time

Seneca Park Zoo is a wonderful place to visit! Especially for anyone seeking a fun, educational place to bring their little ones. Or for anyone with a passion for animals that want a taste of something other than the local norm!
Nice and clean. We ate at the far end. Food was very good and less expensive than I thought it would be. Huge staff very friendly.
The zoo is more modern and the walking paths are wide and shaded in some places.it is a relaxing place to bring the family. Please visit the giraffes as they were wonderful!! The landscaping needs some upkeep but the animals were healthy and engaging. Very family and COVID friendly.
Seneca Park Zoo is a nice place for people. The caged animals on the other hand, seem miserable. They’re kept in cages that are way too small, and some of them are completely alone (tiger, polar bear, lion). The indoor reptiles in their terrarium have plenty of room and would be fine IF there weren’t ten kids taping on the glass and speaking loudly. Hire more staff to ensure the reptiles aren’t bothered by kids, and make the animals sanctuaries MUCH bigger. And no more lone animals- it leads to them becoming depressed.

The atmosphere is great! The massive kid play area is great. Only down fall is to be honest we really didn't see many animals. The few we did were awesome cause they were close up. They could definitely use a fee more things to do there. Finished the whole zoo in about 45 mins

Love the new natural playground!!!! We will be so disappointed when the new building takes its place, I wish the zoo would reconsider! The animals are always out and about, the new giraffe exhibit is delightful! Highlight of every trip is playing in the Safari bus while the lioness sleeps on the hood! A great zoo.
This was an amazing experience. They did great for social distancing. They remodeled, which is wonderfully done!! I have gone to this zoo my whole life. But today it was a brand new zoo!! Well done! It's a must see in Rochester!!
Place where you can admire the wonders that God has created, in turn sharing with your family.

haven't been in years, but it was a lot of fun still! my daughter enjoyed her first trip to the zoo and loved seeing the animals. the timed tickets should be something they keep to prevent over crowding. it was more enjoyable this way for sure because it wasn't overwhelming for us and the animals too.

They have made this a nice zoo. We saw most of the animals even though it was a hot day. There is a tram but you can walk. There are plenty of places to sit, rest and eat. A lot of the walkway is shaded. It takes about an hour and one half to visit everything. Nice place to visit! There were many families.

The Seneca Park Zoo was a fun experience for my family, which we turned into a Home School Field Trip! Educational &Fun! My only Complaint is that when you arrive at the window, they ask you if you want to buy tickets for the Giraffe ???? Feeding & The Tram Ride but they do not explain to you the details! Also you need to print out a map of the zoo ahead of time to bring with you as they don't have any! ???? So Giraffe Feeding & Tram Ride were a waste of our $27. Also make sure to get tickets online in advance and arrive before 1pm otherwise you may not have time to see everything unless you rush through. Enjoy the photos! ????

It just keeps getting better as the years go by, the animals are well taken care of and the food isn't bad for the price.
They are continuing to renovate this already great zoo. The new outdoor exhibits are the best. The otter exhibit is only a few feet from you in an exposed pen. The elephant, giraffe and red panda enclosures are all new and very impressive. Make this a top place to visit anytime of year.
Perfectly sized. Great price. Well maintained, not at all crowded.

I went with my daughter's class for their class field trip. It was tough during winter as many of the animals were inside, it was a windy and cold day but was still a fun experience. We were still able to see many animals and even had a little personal session for the kids to learn about a few of the animals with two of the zoo staff members. The summer is the best time to go as there are more animals out and about. I can't wait to take all my kids there again.
Animals were active and playful! Great time with them and the granddaughters!
Great little zoo to bring the kids to. It was a super hot day but there are indoor exhibits to help you cool down a bit and shared picnic tables where you can sit, eat, and relax. Easy to walk through the entire zoo in a couple of hours. We were able to see a zookeeper feed the penguins and he gave some background info on the animals and answered questions too. We had a really enjoyable time.

Nice, clean and informative. We enjoyed our time there

The zoo had changed for the better from when I was a kid. It's going in the right direction with plenty of animals to see. The new play ground is amazing for kids!
This is the best zoo for all ages. There were 8 of us ages 2 to 77 on Sunday for a visit to the zoo. It has improved over the 66 years of seeing the zoo go to number one in my book. The animals are well taken care of and have good closeup view of them. Their homes are comfortable for then. The elephants, giraffes, zebras etc have five star homes. Lots of shade for the animals and visitors. It is well worth the price of $12 for adults. There are two or more places to get some food to eat and drink while there. Wonderful place to enjoy the day.

Seneca Park Zoo is a serial animal-abuser! Genny C, Lilac, and Moki have endured the freezing temperatures of an unnatural living situation at Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, New York, for far too long. The natural habitat for these stunning elephants is a Sub-Saharan climate full of warmth, freedom, and grace. Please take action to send Genny C, Lilac, and Moki to an accredited elephant sanctuary! In October 2019, African elephant Chana, alternately documented as Msichana was euthanized only four years after arriving at Seneca Park Zoo due to a chronic foot infection. The infection was a side effect of osteoarthritis, a common and debilitating degenerative joint disease in captive elephants. The onset of this disease is primarily due to limited and restricted movement due to inadequate habitat and cold temperatures. Wild African elephants walk 30-50 miles a day, which reduces the onset of osteoarthritis and helps to manage a healthy weight. Moki, who had accompanied Msichana everywhere, was especially heartbroken by her passing.
We went yesterday and we were able to enjoy plenty of animals. Love the new changes and improved exhibits for the animals. I loved feeding the giraffe! Got to see the polar bear swim and play with her ball and the sea lions having fun swimming around. Saw almost all the animals and it was a great time! The animals are clearly cared for well and it’s annoying seeing the negative reviews here. Seneca park is awesome! The food is a a bit over priced and my chicken tenders were a little overdone. Seemed like they sat for some time before being served. Please try to have Fresh food when people are paying good money for it!
Have to say that this is one of the better zoo's along the NYS thruway. Very well laid out and very well maintained.
Not bad! Expected more, but I had a good time
Awesome! My grandchildren loved watching the polar bear and elephants. There were learning opportunities all along the walk pass the animals. They enjoyed the thought of being able to ask and have answered their questions by the docent.
Lots of animals, and activities.

I have loved this zoo since I was a kid, they are always expanding and doing new and great things for their animals. Great place for families
Nice place. My girlfriend and I got to feed a giraffe! Overall it was a nice walk, and a budget friendly activity ????
I love the zoo, and my daughter loves it too, so it makes me really sad to say that I cannot recommend going there during the pandemic. Their measures to ensure social distancing are completely ineffective, as they mostly rely on people following directions. Also, they claim to be restricting the number of visitors, but this is a joke. By 11am on a Saturday the parking lot was totally full. I don't know what could be done to make it better, and I understand they need to have visitors to pay to take care of the animals, but going there is a significant risk.

For a city the size of Rochester it could be much better. But a great experience.
Came from out of town with our kids for a family reunion, decided to find a zoo. We had great weather and we're pleased to visit a clean zoo with great animals. First time for my kids seeing a polar bear! So much fun!
Always loved going to the zoo, I'm disappointed about the monkies and some other zoo animals. They have made some updates which are nice but then other areas don't work such as the African safari the little huts "buttons" don't work. The staff in the food areas need to be retrained as there was slight confusion about orders and just the overall speed was slow. The prices seem to be high overall but I still continue to go because that's the only zoo we have near by. It would be nice if they made an area for smaller children 6months to a year to enjoy such as a small play area or water area.
I have always gone to this zoo as a child and it has been one of my favorite childhood memories.I loved it so much that I continued to visit annually as I grew up. I was aware they were doing renovations to create more habitats and a better environment, however, it is not what I was expecting. Several of my favorite habitats had been torn down to create a playground (keep in mind, they already have a decent size playground). This playground is replacing a large amount of the zoo which is shocking when you’re paying a decent amount of money for an attraction you can get free at a local park. When I approached a staff member about this concern, they stated that they relocated almost all the animals to build this playground so that the zoo can work on making more money for other areas. The staff also communicated that we have not been the only people that approached them with this concern. Although they did add giraffes and zebras, it did not make up for what has been lost. I’m highly disappointed when I left the zoo today. I’m sad to see that majority of my favorite habitats have been torn down & I could not share my favorite childhood memories with my little cousins. I will not be returning to this zoo for a long time & I recommend that you do not contribute your money toward this.

Beautiful zoo. Great improvements. Love the penguins and the giraffes. More thought out with the changes than 15 years ago. Love it.
Great scenic place to visit...I only walked around it as i was out for a walk but was still able to peek in to see a few striped zebras playn and tall giraffes lookn right at me .Definately recommend and worth the trip !!!
This is a great zoo for a smaller metropolitan area Friendly staff Clean Free parking The exhibits are set up well so that you can see the animals from several view points Easy to walk for families with young children

The zoo is nice. I suggest buying tickets for the tram. You will walk towards a downward slope viewing the animals. Unless you want to walk back up with your tired kids. I suggest taking the tram back up. A few places are still closed due to COVID. We didn't see the polar bear or the tiger. Other than that, it was very good. Oh, if you're coming in a hot day. I suggest you bring water/Gatorade unless you're buying it at the zoo. Also one of those portable misting fans will HELP A LOT. It was MISERABLY HOT when we went. You all have to wear masks in ALL the buildings (even if vaccinated). Children 12 and under are asked to wear a mask throughout the zoo. Adults too unless you're vaccinated.
I love our zoo! Such a great deal for a membership and they're always working on making improvements. We had a blast today watching the cute sea lions and see the baby snow leopard.
Best playground in Rochester with the wooden logs and ladders. My kids had a blast and it was their favorite part of the visit. There was a sign that it’s supposed to be temporary. I hope they decide to keep it or relocate to another part of the city.
Had so much fun! Even on a rainy day we got to see almost all of the animals. Everything was clean and the animals looked great with plenty of space :)
It wasn’t at all like I thought. Half the animals were not there. A lot of walking to get to a cage that had nothing in it. Never again!!
Well maintained zoo, I just wish they still had there orangutans
Cool little zoo, they had animals we don't normally see like the white rhino and giraffes. Kids liked it and we are members now. We will going back multiple times this year.
The zoo was great they need more animals ther
This is one of my favorite zoos to visit!!!!!
I visited Seneca Park Zoo on National Elephant Day. They had great activities set up throughout the day in the park. Started off with bath time and health checks. Then I got to see the sea lion behavioral feeding session their new ones are so cute. Last time I visited was 5 years ago when they first got their new lion Cubs in. I got to see them up close and have they grown! Holy cow. Overall this zoo is clean, friendly and very full of child enrichment activities. Can not wait to go again.
Really fun zoo even though it's pretty small. It's full of staff that are extremely friendly and have set up a lot of info posters etc. There's also a nice one way tram, but be sure to take it from the back when you're done instead of from the beginning so that you can walk downhill instead of up hill.
I brought my family and we loved spending every minute there. The staff is super friendly and the animals are so cute and more entertaining, sightseeing adventures included. They have this train that takes you all around Seneca Park Zoo which is pretty cool.
It's a very small zoo, but it's got all kinds of interesting animals and there's plenty to see! The enclosures are spacious and easy to see into, while still giving the animals their privacy. The polar bear and tiger seemed a little antsy, but all of the other animals looked content. The sea lions in particular were really fun to play with. The staff was also very friendly, the keepers told us about the animals and I think it was clear that the animals liked them too. We were there on Thursday, so the traffic was really low, but the covid measures seemed appropriate and well maintained. Overall a fun trip and a great way to spend the afternoon!
It was good. Doing a great job with social distancing and mask usage.
Today, we saw some wonderful animals up close. There were tigers and elephants, snow leopards and baboons. Best of all, the staff was courteous, it wasn't too crowded and people were polite and used common sense social distancing. Can't wait to come back!

Well maintained and the animals have enough room to move around
Wonderful exhibits with many exotic animals. You wouldn't think that Rochester would house such a great menagerie. Many kids there getting quite an eyeful.

For a small zoo it has much to offer. We went on a hot day yet there was plenty of shade and (water) misters to keep you cool. Many exhibits have been recently upgraded and you can really see the quality and thoughtfulness of the design to offer the animals the best QOL. The staff was always helpful if we had questions. And the animals weren't shy at all. The only shy one was the Lion. My family had a really nice time.
I took 3 of my grandchildren ages 7,5,and3. We all had a great time. The staff was friendly and engaging. The exhibits were beautiful and kind. Gone are the days when the lion was in a tiny cage with bars. It was a lovely walk to see all the exhibits, even with 3 little kids. We purchased a family membership for them that day, what a wonderful learning environment, and fun too.

A great place to go when you need to get out and away from the house with the family or independently. The Seneca Park Zoo never disappoints with opportunities to interact and feed the animals, up close eye to eye with fierce predators and docile giants. :) As expected the zoo is well maintained, the animals all look happy and healthy and there's no lack of activities to keep the kids busy.

I had a good time here with my students who have special needs. Food was a bit overpriced. There were many great areas for children to play.
Love the zoo.. Its a small zoo compared to my usual zoo in Los Angeles but I love it here.
My family and I love Seneca Park Zoo. They have made many improvements and have more planned. The new trolly is very nice and the Giraffe and Elephant areas are our favorite.
Public holiday
As a lifelong resident of Rochester I'd be embaressed to bring someone to our zoo, it lacked animals, upkeep, and in dire need of manicure and attention. I know it's undergoing construction for better things to come, as I've also purchased my kids yearly memberships. But for $12 admission it was extremely disappointing. The high point was it appeared the animals that were there seemed well cared for and happy. The docents were informative and knowledgeable. I look forward to the upgrades.

Had a great time with the family. Animals were very active!
One of the best zoo's around! Had a great time!
Fantastic trip to the Zoo. $21 for the two tickets for my daughter and I to enter. Well marked one way paths due to the Coronavirus and face masks required while on premises, but we didn't mind.
Not a very big zoo but fun. Clean park with plenty of animals for youngsters. If not for the pandemic it probably would have been even more enjoyable.

It was a very nice zoo. They have elephants and giraffes. The sea lions were fun to watch. The animals looked healthy and well cared for.
My grandson loved the wood playground. It was high in spots and difficult footing but holding his hand he made it pretty high on the logs. I could walk them with him in sections which was fun for both of us. Many littke ones were fully enjoying the stream by the otter exhibit to wall and splash in.
It's nice having a zoo to visit in Rochester. A fun stop.
The zoo is great. They have remodeled since the last time we were there and it's awesome. The kids (10 and 7) loved seeing all the animals and being able to play in the future exhibit was a lot of fun.

Wow, this is a great leap from the zoo that I remember as a child. Zoo Brew was a great event. Well attended and well managed.
Small zoo inside a park but there is a lot to see, even in winter. Free parking, adults are $10 and kids are free the month of February. Most indoor buildings are open to go inside and warm up in. The red pandas, wolves, and otters are especially active in the winter. Masks are required at all times but it wasn't very busy when we went on a Sunday so I was not worried about COVID
This used to be the worst zoo in America but it's slowly becoming better and better as they expand deeper into Seneca Park

There was so much to see and people told you about the animals you were seeing and we even got to see some babys!
Wow! I haven't been in quite a while and they have made a lot of changes and additions! Can't wait to go back and see their completed projects. Awesome day trip for a single person or a whole group!
Things obviously different, have to pre-order tickets per one hour time slots (ie 10-11, 12-1 up to 3-4pm slot) and can stay until 5pm no matter what time you arrive per your time slot which you can do a week in advance, any day prior or same day but keep in mind weather if you order too far in advance and if same day slots fill up quickly. Can get food at at least two spots and gift shops open all with capacity guidelines but that's ok... Still Love the Zoo ???????????????????? ????????????????and more ????

My family and I rented a lodge at Seneca park. It was the closed in one with the stove and fridge. This place is beautiful you can hold a small wedding here or extravagant party comes 10 6ft tables plus chairs available to rent.
I was really hoping to see the otters, but it was still a fun time and there were some great animals!! Make sure to visit the sea lions they are a bunch of show-offs!
What a cute little zoo! My nieces (8 and 5) really enjoyed it!
Such a fun zoo! We especially loved the little stream In the park for kids to cool off in on that hot summer day!
I had a wonderful time there with my daughter and granddaughters. It's so much more exciting than walking around the mall. The work that is being done looks great. Especially enjoyed the wolves!
Such a beautiful place... they just remodel it so it's got new attractions, like a playground all out of wood. Great place for any age kids. They have AC rooms to cool of in and look at animals and play.
The Seneca Park Zoo is a great place for young kids! There's lots to see and do. Some things are closed in the winter, but there's still plenty to do. Just be prepared for a lot of walking! This zoo is very spread out and it's not a loop, so when you get to the end you have to walk back or pay to take the trolly/bus (seasonal).
My Family and I love the Seneca Park Zoo! We hold a annual membership which is definitely a great value, especially if you live in the area. They've done some great expansion projects in recent years that have made the zoo an exciting place to visit again and again. We love buying tram tickets upon arrival, walking the length of the zoo, and then riding the tram back up front at the end of the day. The zoo is definitely a gem in Rochester!
My family and I had a great time at Seneca Park Zoo. The trails were fun to walk on, staff was very friendly and the animals were fun to watch and enjoy. The zoo itself was very clean and well maintained. The prices on food were pretty high ($7.50 for one zweigle's hot dog) but the snacks and drinks are resonable. Parking was free and you can purchase tickets at the door but recommended that you purchase online.
The animals were out and about today y'all ????. The red panda was beautiful. I was so happy that they weren't inside. I got some great pictures today. My nieces and nephew had a great time. The did rock climbing, played on the playground, and go their feet wet in the stream. I was very pleased that the bathrooms were very clean. The kids had so much fun, they went to sleep as soon as the car was in motion.
Zoo boo was a bit disappointing this past year due to covid but what wasn’t disappointing last year??? Over all I still felt it was a nice way to provide a safe option for families to participate in some holiday fun. Even though there was no candy given away this year and only one stop for a small giveaway bag, We had fun. They should of reduced the price given there was no stops to collect candy or prizes at different animal stations. basically you paid to get a paper bag with coloring pages printed out from a computer and free apps you could of gotten on your own. I hope they do much better with zoo boo , celebration this year . I still love the zoo and think it’s a great place to bring to your kids for outdoor fresh air and education while having fun!
Great family day! Such a quaint and fun experience for all Ages!
It will be better when these face coverings aren't required

I am in Rochester, up from Texas, visiting my youngest son and his wife. We took the time this morning to make the short, lovely drive to the zoo. There weren't many people, but the weather was very agreeable and all the animals were out and active. I had my service dog, #wagsmcscruffy, with me which created several up-close encounters. The zoo is small, but beautifully maintained and the volunteers, docents, and employees obviously love what they do. If you're in the area, it's worth the visit.

I was expecting more from a zoo. I don't know if it's just because of COVID but zoo seemed sad.
dates fill up fast even with a season pass, also it's hard to pick time to go with a 1 year old and planning around naps and being over a half hour away. there still isn't any monkeys, maybe the next time we go we will play on the playground area they have in its place. I wish they're were more areas to sit, they have it laid out so you can only walk on certain paths. over by savanna area they're isn't any shade and the concession down at that area isn't open nor can you use water fountains due to covid, so make sure you grab drink at top concession near playground the walk is long and hot, especially well pushing or holding a baby.
$6–10
The animal enclosures are much more animal friendly than they have been in the past ,and better than many of the zoos near us... the open space to watch the elephants ,and the giraffes, and zebras, are probably my favorite sections. ... of course they're also the newest ,since my wife is using a wheelchair, the tram going from the back of the zoo to the front of the zoo is also pretty cool.

Beautiful zoo, kept very clean. Animals seem healthy & happy. They take social distancing seriously and have their paths clearly marked. Staff are friendly and conversational, it's obvious they're enjoying what they do and are happy to educate anyone who asks.
Went here on columbus day with my wife, daughter, and her family. We arrived a little late, so the zoo employees directed us to the satellite lot where we were told a shuttle was running. After parking, we waited a couple minutes and then the shuttle came. Scooped us right up and dropped us off at the front gate. The line for tickets was relatively long and a little bit slow, but we received our tickets and went in. We all had lunch and then set off into the zoo. Around half of the animals were out and active, so i consider that to be success- you cant expect every single animal to be up and active and ready to put on a show, but there were some really great exhibits. Plenty of bathrooms along the way, and vending machines throughout for water and snacks. We had a great time- spent around 4 hours there and that was plenty of time. The red pandas were incredible! I would suggest the zoo get some ticket kiosks at the gate to move things along a little bit quicker at the beginning.
Such a fun zoo! We especially loved the little stream In the park for kids to cool off in on that hot summer day!
Nice zoo, glad it's open again. Please keep your mask on.
I had a great time today. I felt very safe. Their were one way paths to help with social distancing. The staff did a great job with keeping the zoo cleaned. There were hand sanitizer stations And, to keep people cool, they had the most.
It just keeps getting better as the years go by, the animals are well taken care of and the food isn't bad for the price.
Can't believe how big it's gotten. Very visitor friendly. If it's hot, have the kids bring their swim suits to play in the water
We’ve had a membership for a few years. My parents held a membership when I was a child so I’ve been going to this zoo my whole life. I’ve witnessed a lot of changes and growth to this zoo. Now I’m glad I get to share it with our daughter. She loves coming and looking at all the animals. It’s a small zoo and can be walked in about an hour to an hour and a half depending on how quickly you go through. There are protocols to follow still with the pandemic still going on. Check their website for all the details. This is always a fun thing for us to do that’s close by. The prices are reasonable at the food stand but you can also pack your own picnic lunch as well.

The new playground is fantastic. The giraffe enclosure is cool too. Easy to walk around the zoo. We bring snacks and drinks and take our time looking at all the animals. We like going around closing time when it is less busy.
Nice zoo, though not anywhere near other cities of this size. Compared to Omaha's Henry Dorley Zoo, Seneca Park zoo is not even on the same planet by comparison. However, big improvements have been made over the past decade or so. However, tigers in particular along with wolf's and others deserve much better accommodations. Though space they have more is far cry from their gourmet horrible old school style indoor/outdoor cages tigers use to have. Why can't they get something at least as nice as the Lions Safari exhibit? They deserve much better! They're a far better draw I believe than many of the other animals that have better environments.
We went to the zoo with our three and one half year old grandson. It was an excellent zoo experience for a preschooler. Not too big, but lots to see. And little play areas all along the way. Very easy to purchase food and find a place in the shade to eat. We definitely plan to go back again.

Took my children while on vacation in the area. They had so much fun. A nice, enjoyable, a place made for the family to spend the day. Have been recommending it to everyone I talk to since!!!

Some go to see the animals. Some to play on the playgrounds. Everyone has fun. And you always learn something new about the animals.
We havent been to the zoo in a long while. And yesterday was a nice 38 degree January day with no snow! So we decided on a whim to take the kids. Due to covid we did reserve and purchase our tickets online. The zoo is on a one way in and out path system and I loved that. We got to see everything (the red pandas were very active and super cute!) We weren't rushed at all and it was a great day. Oh and we finally got to see the giraffes! Cant wait to go back already.

People are doing their best to promote social distancing & respecting space even though it felt like a lot of people were there. Social distancing worked well when adults allowed other children to move along at their own pace instead of trying to rush them through.
Nostalgia trip. Impressed by upgrade of the zoo

We went on a chilly winter day and our experience was still pretty enjoyable. Most of the activities are outdoors so dress for the weather but the animals surprisingly were mostly out and about . We also got to see a penguin education session where the keeper brought 3 of them into the room which was great. It was entertaining and a nice indoor activity. The zoo seems well kept and clean. Staff were very friendly!

For a smaller zoo, SP is great. They maintain a professional level of animal care and habitats are creative. High level of educational programs and public involvement. New Snow Leopard is adorable. Renovations and site development is ongoing.

They've done a lot to improve the zoo and make the enclosures more habitable. Still needs more work. Little kids will love playing in the fake stream.

There are lots of animals to see, structures for the kids to play on, food at not so bad prices and of course the gift shop. New animals are coming this year as well. Red pandas, giraffes, zebras, and white rhino! It's easy to spend a couple hours there and not see everything.
Weekend
Overall it's a nice zoo, where you can see the animals really close. However a tiger didn't seem healthy and was breathing heavily, the cages for wolves and big cats were too small (especially snow leopards need vast areas in the wild). Would be better with less variety of animals, but with bigger cages and happier animals (the otters and sea lions have proper conditions, for example, and were really active and playful). I was especially upset about the bald eagles. They look so pitiful! Even though it's a symbol of freedom, their wings are cut and they sit all day, trying to fly up. It's a prison for animals anyway, but at least they shouldn't suffer

This was a beautiful place to spend a beautiful day. There were many animals to see, and many zoo employees stationed around the park to explain whatever you might want to know about the animals you were looking at. I would definitely go again. A very good place for young children.
There is tons of construction going on right now. The African exhibit is nice but not many animals.

A very easy in and out delivery. Make sure you enter at the first or second driveway entrance and preferably early morning hours before they open to the public. This allowed the parking lot to be less populated and the unloading is right in front of their front gate. Palatized freight needs to be brought to the back of the trailer since they do not have a loading dock.

I loved the zoo as a kid. I was super excited to bring my son and my fiancé to a local treasure. We frequent Seneca Park, so I was aware of the current renovation, however I wasn't expecting a third of the zoo I remember to be gone though. The Sunday we came was cooler and it rained on and off which made for less foot traffic than I was anticipating. It was mildly disappointing to find exhibit after exhibit "empty". My kiddo enjoyed the wolves and all of the new interactive stuff in the learning center. He really loved being able to climb on the savanna bus as well! I do love the fact that we now have snow leopards and red pandas. The expansions for the elephants and white rhino were amazing. A much better set up than the old elephant enclosure. I'm interested to see what else this summer will bring. We will put our membership to good use between Rochester and Buffalo.
This was a very nicely laid out zoo. Kids really enjoyed it. Bought tickets and meal vouchers ahead of time-very helpful. Spent about 4 hours here
Very nice zoo. The lions gave us a show.
Nice and clean. Friendly staff. Food is overpriced. Nothing GF unless you want to take a chance on a $7 salad. Animals seemed very well taken care of and healthy. I only gave 4 stars as $21 for me and my 8 yr old is a lot of money.

Great zoo, actually got to see most of the animals, even midday! Very clean and laid out well and has some pretty unique animals. Loved it!
The Zoo its a place without comparisons. One of my favorite place to have fun with my children.
Friendly staff. Plenty of animals to keep the kids interested. We loved how the staff engaged some animals which brought them closer for guess the see. They were knowledgeable and informative answers all questions asked. There were various places for kids to play including a water area and play ground. Unfortunately, didn't get to see the lion or wolf as they weren't in the open. Feeding the giraffes looked fun. Might do that next time.
We were able to stay for about an hour and a half 2 hours. We got there early and it was basically us and 20 other people in the park. It was a Friday morning and All the animals were getting fed. They were all out and it was fun to watch them eating. Almost everything is open, there were a few things shut due to covid-19

Awesome upgrades great job Seneca zoo
Have to say that this is one of the better zoo's along the NYS thruway. Very well laid out and very well maintained.
It's a much smaller zoo than what I was expecting. The zoo opens at 10am but the parking lot was practically full when we arrived at 10:15. You can't beat the price though and because we're members of a other zoo, our admission was half price :) There are not a lot of animals here and they all seemed well-acted for. There is a large playground located near the zoo's entrance that seemed to be the most popular area for the kids!
$11–15
The Play area out front is brilliant. Perfect spot for kids to play and the play area is all natural wood and wood chip materials. Zoo staff are friendly. Family friendly spot that’s easy to access in the city. The best part of this zoo is the African pavilion. The elephants, giraffes and zebras are impressive. African pavilion looks new. Anyways this is a good way to spend an afternoon.

We were disappointed that they no longer had the reptiles or monkeys. The new safari animals were nice but we wished they kept what animals were there before in addition to them. My daughter loves snakes and frogs and all of them were gone except the large python that’s with the otters.

Haven't been to the Zoo in a while, so it's refreshing to see all the changes that have occured there since I've been there last. For families, there is A LOT going on, and lots of places to walk. I think there may be more than enough to occupy kids of all ages, and you may not get through all of it in one day. Admission prices are reasonable, but if you get a membership, I believe you can get in 1 hour earlier. They also had lots of small interactive tables where you could feel things, learn about animals, etc.
Best time to visit this zoo would be in summer where you can see almost all the animals
Great place to bring young kids!!! There is alot of space so you can feel safe and a good amount of things to do to entertain little ones. The one this I will say is that, when we went, the signs were incorrect that pointed the direction of the animal homes and also a good chunk of animals were not there or out to see.
They've been expanding how much room the animals have which is really nice. The exhibits were well kept
Such amazing animals, they were all friendly and a few came up to say hi!
Love the zoo! Newer playground area is great for kids, but keep a close eye on them, it's a natural wood play area so splinters and falls are part of the game.
Just got back from my most recent trip! I've been going to Seneca park zoo throughout my whole life so far, and I have had wonderful experiences every time. They are enforcing CDC mandated policies, and have made the park one way. This system worked out pretty well and everyone maintained the proper distancing for at least 90% of the time. All in all I love this zoo, and will continue to visit in years to come! ????????????????????
Go during the winter! Don't let the cold stop you, it certainly doesn't stop the animals from being active - if anything, I think they were MORE active than usual because it was winter time. February has great deals for families - check the website before you go for deals and events. They're planning on some excellent additions soon, so it would totally be worth it to get a membership.

great zoo. Especially liked the displays on North American River Otter and Sturgeon. Tying local animals and habitat together in a powerful way. Zoo gift shop has tons of plush animals including Naked Mole Rats. New African savanna exhibit is a must see.
Outstanding place for kids and elder persons, full of variety of animals, its place to visit
It was an amazing time! Polar bear was awesome! Lion was so cool and the wolves were super crazy to look at!
I LOVE the Rochester zoo! Fun, interactive, and clean!
Seneca Zoo is the best place for a budget-friendly outing. 10$ entry fee will not dig a hole in your pocket and also will brighten up your day. This place is amazing for anyone who loves animals & like to learn about them. This zoo is located in Rochester so it’s very close for anybody who lives around this area, and especially for RIT International students who are always on a budget. You can even take the RTS bus to reach this location. They have lots of animals like polar bear, sea lions, penguins, giraffe etc. The best part of this trip was to play with the sea lions, you can play catch with them (just use a cap or a glove) & they’ll follow the you. I assure you your heart will be filled with excitement & entertainment. You will leave this place feeling refreshed & peaceful. The sea lions have huge eyes that’ll make you go crazy for them & just wanna hug them. This location is undoubtedly worth every penny!! You may get tired by walking all the way around the zoo so I suggest you carry a bottle of water & some light snacks. But do not carry anything heavy cause you will get tired. You can go to any nearby restaurant after the trip. We had lunch at Dinosaur Barbeque after visiting the zoo. This is definitely one of the top locations to visit in Rochester! Hope you all enjoy this place as much as I did. Happy Holidays! ????
Small zoo. Slightly overpriced. But a nice place to take children. Safe. Beautiful. Lots of parking always making upgrades to the lot and the zoo itself:That’s a plus. Aquarium and nice photo opportunity
For a small city zoo, the Seneca Park Zoo does a decent job. Friendly and knowledgeable staff helps make the experience worthwhile. You can tell that the organization is trying to add more exhibits to the menagerie of animals but does not get a lot of funding. They would benefit from those willing to go and support the zoo even though there are bigger and better zoos around. There is a temporary playground that is really neat. While preparing for the next exhibit, trees were cut and the ground was leveled. The trees were made into an awesome playground. Branches were chipped for the mulch. Could’ve spent hours just at the playground. My kids had a blast here enjoying the outdoors.
went to see animals and most of the cages area had no animals. only saw 5 animals and food was over priced. $7.75 for 1 hotdogs only. not worth the visit
A nice place to visit with small children.
Weekday
Even on a rainy/sprinkly day like today we got to see almost all of the animals they had. The zoo had a good size. Lots of educational signs. All the animals looked very healthy.
Been to lot of zoos but this one is by far the best and at the end of the zoo we got a ride back from tram the zoo riding service back to the front entrance was great experience for the kids
Had a great day at the zoo with my 98 year old Mom and sister!!!
Our first time here, clean, followed arrows around, lots of animals!!
Best zoo we have been to yet. I highly recommend going.
The animals were active and seemed comfortable and all possible Covid guidelines were followed. It was a safe, fun and interactive "safari". Great for kids especially!
Seems like a zoo with history and a heart. The setting is evolved, the animals comfortable and the staff helpful, informed and caring.
This zoo is honestly awesome especially for the price. Been to a few zoos on the east coast. And the money per person is extremely reasonable. I.e zoos in the cities of pa are 40+ per person or national aquarium is 50+ a person. Vs this is 11 per person and the selection of animals Is pretty good. Would highly recommend this hidden gem of ny
This was a nice place to see wild animals and a nice place to bring ur kids!! And also to learn about the animals..they each have something to say about them

Update: This issue has been resolved. I am changing the rating on this, since this the zoo changed its policy and is 100% smoke free including e-cigarettes and vaping. If they can get the money for their new building, and get that going, it will garner a five stars. I am not a fan of the temporary play area at the front of the zoo where the outdated building once stood. *******************Original Review below********************* I am a member. My rating is for this issue. From the website: Smoke Only in Designated Areas For the health of our visitors, staff and animals, smoking within the Zoo is restricted to two designated areas – by the Elephant Barn in A Step into Africa or behind Eagle’s Landing on the lower road. Why is Seneca Park the only zoo in the state to allow smoking at the zoo? For the sake of visitors, especially the children, not to mention the staff and the residents, who can't do anything about it, this should not be permitted. When will the Zoo and Monroe County enter new millennium and catch up with Buffalo (Smoke Free since 2007), Syracuse, Bronx zoos, not to mention neighboring states like Ohio? Enough. The evidence is overwhelming of the impact second hand smoke has on living things, not to mention the environmental pollution. In a city where the main research university bans smoking on the entire campus, isn't about time something is done? Very disappointed with this.
Smallish zoo with a good selection of animals. You can even feed the giraffes! It's a shame that so much of the zoo was under renovation, but it looks like it's going to be worth it when they're done.
The zoo is undergoing a lot of changes so I understand why there are fewer animals and exhibits right now. I wasn't fond of the huge playground by the entrance. I didn't need to pay $48 for me and my 4 grandchildren to play on a playground, when there is a free one like it in Highland Park near my home. I have been to the zoo 3 times since the Red Panda exhibit was completed. I still haven't seen it. It should be more visible. There were 4-5 animals that weren't being shown today because their exhibits were being maintained. Maybe they should only maintain one at a time so we can see more animals at the zoo. After all, isn't that why we go to the zoo? Overall, there was a lot of walking to see too few animals. On a positive note: the giraffes and zebras were nice to see. The tram at the end of the zoo that takes you to the front of the zoo was a very welcome sight after all the walking.
I'm a grown man and this was my first time at the zoo which I went with my daughter and so we experienced together for the first time and it was amazing. I loved the rhino it took me back like it was the ancient days.
What a family friendly place to take your inquisitive child(ren) to learn about animals
Awesome zoo!! Worth the drive we plan a trip there with the kids every year!! Can't wait til next year!!
I was greatly disappointed by the false information regarding the baboons being in the linage of humans millions of years ago. . The information can not be proven true, therefor it is a belief or religion and should be banned from public places as Zoos. And yes this will stand in the way of my next visit. Ever thing else was great. Animals well cared for and exhibits were great. I would have loved to give this Zoo a 5 Star as the staff did a great job.

Bit cool but had a nice time with the grandkids & my daughter
Great day at the zoo! Talked to the elephant keepers and saw the elephants do some tricks. Saw the male and female lions mating right next to the glass! Red pandas were also cute
I called Seneca Park Zoo to figure out how to redeem four zoo admissions tickets we have using their online reservation system. Because the tickets are from 2018, despite them NOT having an expiration date on them, THEY REFUSE TO REDEEM THEM. I sure hope they don't treat their animals as poorly as they treat their customers SMH!!!!

Most people were abiding by masking requirements and distancing. Nice and clean place to visit and free close parking is a great perk!

Zoo is expanding and creating better habitats for the animals. Very nice.
Very nice zoom. Great for kids. Buy a tram ticket for $2 for a quick way to get back to the parking lot when your kids get tired.

Had a great day at the zoo with my 98 year old Mom and sister!!!
These animals are clearly MISERABLE and NEGLECTED. Their enclosures are way too small, the Tiger was going insane walking around in circles for hours and the Red Panda was doing it too. The Lion was howling like he was in distress the whole time we were there and clearly nobody at this zoo cares about these animals at all. It was miserable being here I wanted to cry. I would not support this Zoo, someone needs to take these animals away!
We love our zoo. It may seem small but the walk is just right. We've kept our membership since our kids were little and now go as grandparents.
I took one of my grandkids and had a fantastic time! We were able to see all the animals in their habitats!

Smaller zoo, but had elephants, lions, giraffe, zebras, red pandas, white rhinos, sea lions, etc. The elephants were really fun to watch and easy to see. The lion exhibit was especially cool as the lion was right near the glass on the bus. The zoo shop was well stocked and had some cool gift items to commemorate our visit. My only complaint was that there were not enough people coolers and the temps were 85-90 degrees Fahrenheit the day we visited. Worth the visit.

Lots of amazing improvements since we were last here, including a huge play space near the entrance and the savannah area all the way at the back of the zoo. Felt very clean and safe.
This Zoo is ok for a quick trip! It takes about an hour to get through. I wish they wouldn't of gotten rid of the monkeys for all the logs for kids to play on.
My family of 5 had a great time. The zoo staff did great with keeping to cover guidelines. They created a very effective 1 way walking path to maximize social distancing and we were able to enjoy all the exhibits. Other than the masks the knew way is so much better!
Nice place. My girlfriend and I got to feed a giraffe! Overall it was a nice walk, and a budget friendly activity ????
The Zoo did a great job today keeping everything cleaned and distanced due to Covid. Everything was clearly labeled and we were still able to see all of the animals. Great job and thank you!
We loved it. We went with our Son, DIL & 2 grandsons..they are season ticket holder. Its a perfect size..seeing continous animals.. Most of it, is under many trees which is wonderful.. Loved that the Zebras & Giraffes were in same area hanging out.. Im really happy we went..

Read about the great reviews on Google and decided to visit the place. It was great except that we couldn't really see many animals because of the heat wave. Wouldn't blame the zoo. Will definitely plan next time in a pleasant weather.
This zoo is awsome huge play ground for kids zebras, giraffes, lions, tigers, wolf's,red pandas, birds, elephants, fish, this place had it all even a rhino my kids love it here
My wife & I visit the zoo regularly. As a member of the Buffalo Zoo we enjoy a discount on admission and am thankful for that. We have had nothing but great experiences every time we visit. The staff is engaged and knowledgeable. We are very impressed with the new addition in the Sahara area. The tram ride back to the entrance is a pleasant ride. I want to thank the Zoo Administration for sending 3 of their Penguins to the Niagara Falls Aquarium. The new Penguin exhibit there is terrific. Gotta love FREE PARKING. Some pixs from the Niagara Aquarium
What a fun zoo! Several exhibits are incomplete right now, but it is a great place for kids!
Amazing experience, well kept, the animal looks very healthy.
Absolutely fantastic food. They must have changed up vendors or something. Five star on the food. Lot of new buildings but not a lot of new animals
It was an amazing time! Polar bear was awesome! Lion was so cool and the wolves were super crazy to look at!
Such a great day! So happy we have the Seneca Park Zoo membership. It is worth every penny!!
Very nice for a small zoo. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Our Remax Realtor Tracey Dedee treated her clients and their families to Seneca Zoo today. Absolutely Perfect day to be outside! It was the first time for us to see the spectacular zoo expansion. Its so unbelievable to see the three Giraffes & Zebras here. They have an incredible large building and outdoor space. Weird to see the original zoo building at entrance gone. The space has been turned into a large family play area. Grateful to Tracey & her Remax crew for such a wonderful day!

Lively and beautiful. You will appreciate it once you will get here. I can tell you that it is not one of the zoos that are boring.
Love this place. Great for a nice walk and the new additions are pretty sweet. There are a couple animal cages I wish were bigger but I feel like they are getting there. The temporary natural playground is absolutely the best in the area. We like to walk the zoo then the adults and kids get to play before leaving lol
Perfectly sized. Great price. Well maintained, not at all crowded.
I absolutely love this zoo. It's family oriented and a great place to learn about animals and conservation. Love meeting a member.
Always a good way to spend the day with the kids. Love the investment and growth the zoo has seen over the past few years.
The habitats for the animals were great! They really take the animals into consideration and everything is green and wild! The zoo is small, but well laid out. The food from the food court area was okay, not great. Restrooms were clean. Luckily it was not crowded when we went, and we had easy access to all the exhibits. The reptiles, snakes, giraffes and zebras, and lions, were housed in a way that provided great views to the public! Other animals were hiding but if course, that is their nature and you can't do much about it. Walkways were wide and stroller or wheelchair friendly. The animals all looked very healthy and well taken care of.
The enclosures here are all really impressive and well designed, especially compared to other zoos upstate. A little on the small side, but it’s such a beautiful zoo that it doesn’t really matter. Really appreciate their conservation based approach. Great playground and the stream play area is just perfect for young kids in the summer.
A great sized zoo for young and small kids. Big enough to have lots to see but small enough you can visit most things in a couple of hours and easy to navigate. Zoo Boo is a family tradition.

social distancing for inside exhibits and timed tickets was good for covid. really nice playgrounds/areas for children. we wished more of the animals were out. my child personally loved the otters, sea lions, and tiger. the bathrooms were filthy. the animals looked healthy and well taken care of with very nice habitats!
Great family day
We went here for our daughter's first birthday and I haven't been to this zoo in years. We we're thoroughly impressed with how clean it was and how much fun we had. There was parts that were under construction but it didn't take away from our experience. The staff was friendly and we just had an overall great experience. Thank you Seneca Park zoo!! We will be buying a membership next year!! Addition: We love all the new additions to the zoo! The natural playground was beautiful and our almost two years old loved it. It's nice to see the bigger animal exhibits. The giraffes were beautiful. I miss seeing all the monkeys though and hope they bring them back. The red pandas were my favorite! We can't wait to come back!
It was an enjoyable afternoon, many exhibited we're up and running. There were a few that were under construction so we didn't see the entire zoo but all in all it's a fun place with an old school vibe. I would've liked to see some of the animals have a bit more running space, hopefully the renovations are giving them some more head to stretch out on.
Small zoo. Very well maintained when it comes to the grounds and enclosures.

This was a small zoo but with cool animals like rhinos giraffes and elephants. I didn't see the polar bear but they had awesome exhibits for polar bear and sea lion. They also had a cool lion exhibit but I saw no lion. Was a fun walk through.
It was fun celebrating the giraffes and seeing the updated zoo!!
I was at this zoo yesterday and I was really impressed. They had a lot of animals for a small city zoo. The layout was really good and easy to navigate. We were able to talk to the zookeepers about some of the different animals and they were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. There is a really large play area for kids when you walk in and then a few other things for them to play on throughout. You get to actually get really close to all the animals which I’ve never experienced before. And they have a little building where you can order food and drinks I think it was called the Eagles Landing. It was great and I had an amazing time there! Will definitely be back.

So great getting to see so many of the animals out. Would like to see the new baby snow leopards! The fund raising event was wonderful
Went there with school as chapparone. It is my opinion that the zoo is lacking. Born and raised in Rochester and have been here many times. They use to be alright but have never been a great zoo. Our charge for group rate was $9 per child, $12 for adult. Food is pricey. I know it cost alot of money to maintain zoos, but something ain't right. It's alright not saying don't go, but don't expect to be wowed. Buffalo zoo seems to be a little better but not by much. You decide. Only being honest.
Wow, this is a great leap from the zoo that I remember as a child. Zoo Brew was a great event. Well attended and well managed.
Despite a drizzly day, most of the animals were visible -- we even saw the young snow leopard.
It was fun celebrating the giraffes and seeing the updated zoo!!
Have been coming here since I was a child and now I love to take my niece. They have been growing the exhibits to be humane for the animals as standards continue to evolve and staff are there to provide educational insights as well. The whole family just went to the zooboo which was so much fun! The only critique is they switched food providers this year and it is not worth the money.
We went on a cold winter day. Wasn't sure if we would get to see all the animals but we got lucky! Going during the cold months is great because the crowds are light. Also the kids enjoy the play park at the entrance, they slept well that night.

Last minute visit from my grandkids and children for the youngest grandchild’s bday. So I left work early got ticketed online to get here for the 1 pm time frame. At check in the girl asked if I wanted to donate to rhinos I said yes $20 so she took my card and oooops charged it $83 for the donation and tickets again then told me it would be two - three days to credit back to my acccount?? Then was asked do I need tram passes? To give me one way ride across zoo. Well let me tell ya. We walked the entire thing both ways and barely saw any animals!! The ones we saw look so sad and it’s the 2-8 yr old children that made this clear to us. Stopped to get ice cream $36 dollars for 5 dipping dots and a slushi. $182 to take a stroll and this is it went they really wanted to just stay at my house and swim in our pool. Just so disappointed.
This was a very nicely laid out zoo. Kids really enjoyed it. Bought tickets and meal vouchers ahead of time-very helpful. Spent about 4 hours here
Was very disapointed. Only saw a few animals. Yes it was a hot day but most were put in and not noticable. Enclosures were small and animals seemed "sad" my vh grand daughter (who is 3) even mentioned that.

The zoo is a fantastic place. It's locate in a large park and the animals are well cared for. I recommend choosing a cool mild day to go in the winter as a lot of the animals live the colder weather. When it's hot out they are just like us in heat, sleepy and just want to rest.

Nice place to take the kids. There are paved paths and shaded areas as you go. Some indoor buildings have AC and others do not. Bathrooms are scattered around, which are helpful if you have small kids.
The zoo has grown so much since I was last here. The exhibits are great. I would recommend a visit with or without kids. Walk from entrance to zebras then take tram back to entrance. Allow a few hours to see it all.

Really fun zoo even though it's pretty small. It's full of staff that are extremely friendly and have set up a lot of info posters etc. There's also a nice one way tram, but be sure to take it from the back when you're done instead of from the beginning so that you can walk downhill instead of up hill.
The zoo was a great vacation from everyday life and it had a lot of fun attractions that grabbed my attention. It's very hard to get bored at the zoo.
Edit: They completed the new area and it really is amazing. The animals have so much more room. I know they are working on another part now but we are moving away. My kids have enjoyed their time at this zoo and we will miss it. This is a nice small zoo. They are currently updating their attractions and it looks like it will be wonderful when it is finished. That being said many of there animals are not present because of it.
Lively and beautiful. You will appreciate it once you will get here. I can tell you that it is not one of the zoos that are boring.
I was surprised how nice the zoo was. The young kids working were all very nice and courteous. The lion exhibit is fantastic, can't wait to see when they are done with renovations.
Some of the enclosures aren't currently open however they have a huge temporary playground area right when you walk in made from trees that had fallen down been damaged all from around motor county. Everyone was masked and we have an azong time !!
Probably one of the worst zoo I’ve visited yet… The whole zoo feels wrong for both animals and visitors. For such a tiny zoo you sure spend a lot of time walking in very « urban » areas with a lot of non-animal related buildings with very little trees and effort to make the experience feels like you’re not in a zoo. the entire place feels unnatural compared to other zoo, and you can tell that it affects the overall visitor experience but also the animals. Animals are hiding most of the time, and when they are not hiding they look miserable. The arrangement of the animal living space is very unfriendly, and unlike a lot of other zoos, you cannot see « behind the scene ». So if animals are in the back, being fed or simply hiding, you’re out of luck. Makes you feel like they are hiding the way they treat/care for those animals too. Overall, very poorly designed zoo. Worst of all, the constant ongoing construction of new cafeteria, cafe or other non sense is a persistent reminder that you are there to spend money in a relatively unfriendly human-made park full of sad caged animals.
It's been many years since I visited the Rochester Zoo. The changes that have been made are overwhelming. It is truly worthwhile visiting if you haven't been in awhile. And more upgrades are continuing to be made.
They are continuing to renovate this already great zoo. The new outdoor exhibits are the best. The otter exhibit is only a few feet from you in an exposed pen. The elephant, giraffe and red panda enclosures are all new and very impressive. Make this a top place to visit anytime of year.
Great zoo!! The tickets were a fair price. The zoo has a good variety of animals to see from all over the world, and the facilities were all very nice. It was also very easy to get to. Great way to spend an afternoon outdoors!!
Extraordinary. Well mantaimed and always something new being implemented.
Enjoyed visiting the park! Lots of great exhibits and all of the animals were outside. Definitely recommend the membership pass to get in 30 minutes early and avoid the crowds and buses of school kids.
We took our 2 year old son to the zoo for the first time and I'm not sure who loved it more! We had the best time ever looking at all the different animals in their habits. I remember one was even doing something inappropriate, those darn orangutans. I can't wait until we go back.
LOVE THIS ZOO! Well, we love all the Zoos around. But they each bring something beautiful and unique to their own Zoo. Gift shops are all different and so are the Animals. Fun for the whole family!! Lots of walking for those who need wheelchairs. Everything is wheelchair ready for all to enjoy the exhibits! My family always has a BLAST at this Gorgeous Zoo!!! CAN'T WAIT to return when the weather is more predictable :)
This is a nice sized zoo, easy to do in a day but still has quite a diversified number of animals. I was surprised how close I could get to the elephants and the lions have a “tour” bus as part of the exhibit and one of the lioness likes to sleep on the hood it was fun being that close to her. We also got to see a penguin paint which my two grandchildren loved.
Loved it ! Lots of animals easy to walk the zoo. Plenty of restrooms , hand sanitizing pumps and concessions . Priced affordable.
Great zoo. Animals well cared for and plenty of running room for small kids.
Lots of animals, and activities.
This is a beautiful place, and perfect place to have peaceful stroll. I randomly went to this location, and it’s worth it. It’s a quite good place to spend time with kids. As all zoos they gave the popular wild animals like wolf, snow leapord, tiger, polar bear, lion and red panda. The other animals they have are elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra, sea lion, penguins, owl, and few reptiles. Besides animals, it’s a beautiful park with trails to walk around. It is a quite area and seems peaceful. The entry is $10 and not crowded. I expected to be someone there to guide and give much more details about animals.
To observe earth day, my daughter suggested Seneca Park Zoo. We always have fun here, great for family day out! Fun, educational, and informative.
Been coming here since I was a child. Changed a bit but, I still go there to walk my dog. People there mind their own business. A walk around the pond is nice. Feeding the geese and ducks are cool. Very nice park. The zoo is another story, but very nice all around. I recommend it.
The people should've been the ones behind the cages, because it was ridiculous how loud and wild most folks were. Maybe it was just the day I went, but it was rather difficult to immerse yourself in the awe of the wildlife here with so many people being ignorant. With THAT said, great little zoo. Saw almost all animals close up and most exhibits to be engaging.

The zoo was great first time there and I want to come back
Weekend
It's a much smaller zoo than what I was expecting. The zoo opens at 10am but the parking lot was practically full when we arrived at 10:15. You can't beat the price though and because we're members of a other zoo, our admission was half price :) There are not a lot of animals here and they all seemed well-acted for. There is a large playground located near the zoo's entrance that seemed to be the most popular area for the kids!
This was an amazing experience. They did great for social distancing. They remodeled, which is wonderfully done!! I have gone to this zoo my whole life. But today it was a brand new zoo!! Well done! It's a must see in Rochester!!
I was excited to see the zoo for the first time, and after reading on the website that it had 90 different species and 300 animals I was surprised to see there really weren't very many at all. I understand you are planning to add more animals but it really was disappointing. When my husband was younger he really loved it and he was also very let down today.
The zoo was a decent size, and had some great attractions to look at. I wish that there was more involvement from the zookeepers, whether it be interacting with the animals, or giving information. Other than that though, it was a fun 2-3 hour afternoon weekend activity.
I have loved this zoo since I was a kid, they are always expanding and doing new and great things for their animals. Great place for families
Good small zoo but morning times are better to visit so that you can see most of the animals out from their habitat. The temporary obstacles play area for kids is great entertainment for the little energetic ones. I would advise to take the tram ride while coming back to the parking lot if you do not want to walk all the way again!

Love this small local zoo. As a kid I remember enjoying my time here and for the area it is great to bring the kids. The staff is all friendly and very knowledgeable on the animals. My daughter loved seeing the new exhibits on their "African Safari" section which was just recently made. If you are going I recommend to bring some food as it is quite expensive there. Parking is difficult in the afternoon but we arrived right when they opened for the non-members around 10:30am which was easy to find a close spot and get right in line to get a ticket with less than 10min wait. If you go later than that you risk lines and hard to find or distant parking.

I was expecting more from a zoo. I don't know if it's just because of COVID but zoo seemed sad.
Weekend
We visited for the first time in about 10 years and were disappointed. Back then, we enjoyed our trips with the kids so much that we became members to save money on the admission. The zoo had a vibrancy then and it had lots of open exhibits with a decent variety of animals. Today, we walked for a few minutes without seeing anything but the taped-off entrance to the building that used to have the bird exhibit, panther, orangutans, lemurs, giant tortoise etc. We thought we would see them further on. We didn't. The population of animals has been drastically cut. There are large empty ehibit spaces. The zoo has lost vibrancy and energy. The red pandas are beautiful but the Cold Asia exhibit was underwhelming. We consider the $12 per adult a donation. I can honestly say that if we had today's experience back when we had little kids we would not go back.
The whole experience was wonderful and easy. The ticket booth went fast, reminded people regarding masks for those unvaccinated (adults and kids over 2), and were all around friendly. Had no issues with navigating the zoo either! Plus plenty of seating to be found if you get too tired/warm.

This zoo gets better and better as time goes on. More humane conditions for the animals and keeping the public within safe distances.
Kinda small but fun for the kids
Seneca Park Zoo Lions were Fantastic! Although it was a heavy overcast day with little to no sunshine.

Online tickets were a mess. Couldn't just use them from the phone, had to wait 30 min so they could print the tickets, to scan them, to let us in the gate. The people that just showed up had no issues. Park was great, once they let us in.
We love the zoo! Luckily we are zoo members (sign up!! It's so worth it!) And we are able to start our visits at 9:30 am before it fills up with day camps and school trips and the heat of the day sets in. Sometimes it's hit or miss when the animals will be out, but our kids love it every time.
Kinda small but fun for the kids
So much fun! So many activities! The lion feeding was sooo coool!!!
They've done a lot to improve the zoo and make the enclosures more habitable. Still needs more work. Little kids will love playing in the fake stream.
For Seneca Zoo Tobe in the middle of downtown Rochester it was pretty awesome. Tickets were easily ordered online 1 minute before we walked to the booth. Surprisingly spacious and didn't feel claustrophobic with the amount of people that were there, not to mention it was Easter Sunday. Only downside were the little eatery stands that had astronomical prices for minimal amounts of food.
The nicest days in the winter months are always my favorite time to visit the zoo. This February was no exception. I saw the otter out playing in the snow, the lions were bathing in the late afternoon sun, and the snow leopard took a nice relaxing nap outdoors. It is definitely worth the trip in the winter months. Have kids? Just bundle them up in snow suits and boots because it can get a little wet and muddy.
Solid small town zoo. Does a great job of using the zoo to care for animals who need it, and releasing them when they're ready. Very kid friendly and one of my 2 year olds favorite places to go
It's a bit small, but they're doing a lot to renovate and keep the place interesting. There's a ton of things going on the staff is very friendly. We will visit again next year

Nice zoo, great size for small kids. Bring a stroller, and be prepared for an uphill walk out of the park.
Always a good time.
We went in the winter because there are typically less people because it's cold. Most of the animals were out and active. I had a really good time. The staff in the gariffe building were so kind and answered all my questions.
Fun place to take an afternoon stroll with the family!

A good zoo with lots to see here. We went with our daughter's young family to see some of the worlds best animals on display. We liked the lion, girraf and elephant enclosures. We also enjoyed the ride back to the parking lot.
$6–10

The tram ride gave us plenty if time to enjoy the play area

Nice, clean and informative. We enjoyed our time there
Decent zoo. They are still expanding and adding new exhibits. Great place for a family outing.
Pretty good minus the Rochester people attitude, finding a parking spot and not all the animals are exhibited. BUFFALO ZOO was better

I was so amazed with all the new areas for the animals. The Giraffe, rhinos, grey wolves, and etc. I grew up in Rochester and this really lifted me up so much. Then to top it off they offer a ride back to the entrance for $2. I can't wait to come out again.
It's an okay zoo, not a lot of animals, and it's nothing compared to the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse. The cafes inside are super shady and I would watch your money. My parents and I ordered a few things from the Eagle's landing cafe. We ordered and paid, did NOT receive a receipt. My father ordered a sausage and after a few minutes we were told they were out. He asked for a hamburger then. The girl at the counter just stood there so we asked if we were going to get a refund of the difference (a sausage was $6.25 and a hamburger was $5). She said no, they couldn't do that, and then another girl came up and told us that because of the tax it wouldn't make a difference so we wouldn't be getting the difference. Even though we paid the tax on the sausage so it wouldn't matter. My father didn't want to make a scene over $1.25 and choose to walk away but wow. I'm not sure if the employees are pocketing the difference or if they're told to to do this. Either way, that's shady business practices and I wonder how much money they've basically stolen in the time they've been doing this.

The new improvements to the zoo are awesome!! Playground up front is so great for the kids and the nee animals are awesome. Only drawback is that you have to pay for the tram to get back up to the top of the zoo. Would be nice if this was included with the price of admission.
Cool place mostly friendly staff other than the mask police at one exhibit even though I'm vaccinated
This quaint zoo has heart, and is basically a must-see as it expands and brings more animals into our lives. The new Africa showcase is gorgeous and the tram ride is very reasonable and convenient.

The park and zoo are beautiful and the numerous playgrounds and activities for kids are very nice, but the animals seemed lethargic and were in many instances not even visible. The staff were not friendly at all! My daughter and I wanted to ask a question but the staff were more interested in talking amongst themselves than interacting with the zoo guests. The only staff member that was friendly and willing to have a conversation with us was in the gift shop.
It's a treasure. Beautiful habitats, well cared for and loved animals, clean as a whistle and friendly staff. Watched the giraffes, baboons, elephants (1 getting a pedicure) up close while a zoo staff provided interesting information. Wolves, tigers, otters, eagles, zebra and more were all seen clearly. Several shows about specific animals with plenty of time for questions. Nice gift shops. Prices are amazing especially the Grandparents pass. Can't wait to go again!
The zoo is making new improvements and additions. The staff is nice and is more than willing to answer your questions. We have had the best luck seeing the animals when it is raining out or even in the winter. We went last month and were able to see almost everything. I am looking forward to the additions of the new main building. The Red Panda/Snow Leopard and the new additions to the Africa section are great.
No wait
This was the first time we got to use our membership.. LOVE IT!! The zoo had such good accommodations to keep COVID safety in mind, but still got to go have fun and see the animals. They even have signs stating which items (playground, enclosure glass etc) that are "high touch" so you can choose to stay further away. Love the zoo and the way they're keeping us safe!
I have not been to this zoo in quite awhile and it has changed so much. The areas for the animals are beautiful. So much better than they were before. The tram at the end is great for quick ride back to the front of the park!
Went this last week of August, while social distancing and masking still enforced. Very impressed with how the Zoo is handling the new guidelines and providing a safe experience for all visitors. Masks were enforced during visit, and there is timed entry to prevent a big line (so you can buy a ticket to enter between 1p-2p but can stay past that time). They also had the walk ways divided by direction, limited the amount of visitors in small exhibits (but the lines were small and honestly not a big deal, maybe waited 5 minutes at most?), and had hand sanitizer stations everywhere. They also had signs showing high touch surfaces to warn people. Gift soft open but limiting people in it Only thing to improve upon would be having staff members whose job would be cleaning the surfaces (like the exhibit glass or playground) much more frequently. But if you use the hand sanitizer stations it’s not that big of a deal. Definitely still recommend going even with all the guidelines! We spent 3 hours there.

Wonderful, well organized zoo. You must reserve time slot tickets at this time, check website before visiting. Beautiful exhibits, well cared for animals, great informative signage throughout. Covid practices in effect with directional flow in and out. Great gift shop. I really enjoyed this zoo while visiting Rochester!
It's a work in progress right now but I can deal with the limited amount of exhibits due to plenty of friendly staff and informational booths set up along the way. Great gift shop too!
Loveddd going here with my family
One of our favorite places to spend a day! Today we talked with several keepers/docents. We really like learning personal information about the animals - names, ages, personalities...
I love seeing the growth and development of the zoo! The animals all seem to be well cared for and the volunteers are all friendly and knowledgeable.

I think the coronavirus rules kind of ruined it a little bit, but at least it was open. I don't think all the exhibits were open to the public though because we didn't get to see the lizards or the birds.

Not a bad price for adults and children to get in. Me and my children and nieces had a awesome day at the zoo! Looking at lots of animals!!!
Great zoo! Love all the new exhibits and cannot wait for the new exhibits to come in 2020! Congratulations on the baby snow leopard!! We will be back a lot more!
I read online that they had 300 animals and there was not nearly that many. The animal they have are awesome and they have a really nice park for kids made of trees and ropes. It has bridges and all kinds of climbing fun. They have a bunch of big African mammals which is nice. Overall it was a great experience but zoo is not as big as expected and not a lot animals.

Recently went for the first time since the most recent upgrades to the facility. Had a great time with my daughter and her family, my sister and nephew. We happened to catch it on an October weekend during the annual "Zoo Boo" festivities. Lots of people in costumes, including staff, with staff presenting short lectures on some of the exhibits. The zoo has frequent events for adults and children, that can be found on their Facebook page. Even on a day with light rain, a visit to the zoo was a 5 star winner, and great photo ops of exhibits, and for family memories.
