Great for the kids and parents the play area seem to be my kids favorite part after seeing some fascinating reptiles my 4yr old daughter loved all the animals when we thought she would be squirmish but she touched all the reptiles at the live forum and wanted to know more about every creature. Overall, I was impressed with the facility. The "homes" for the reptiles are clean and bright and large and the animals are easy to see. Two disappointments: 1) The presenter today in the theatre didn't have a microphone and since it was March Break, there was a chaotic background noise from kids groups in the play area behind the theatre making it VERY difficult to hear her. She was trying to project her voice but it was like she was screaming and the sound made you cringe. Definitely needed a speaker system. 2) My son and I were approached by a staff member and he asked us if we were interested in a behind-the-scenes view of the animals - we could go and sign up. After several questions about what it was all about, I said we were interested and then he said, "May I ask if you are paying with a card?" Until that point, there was no mention of this being an activity you had to pay extra for. I thought it was a strange way to "entice" customers.

Cool animals. Very small enclosures for most animals. Especially the big turtle, I feel very bad for him you can tell he wants out of there. For the amount of time this place was under construction I thought it would have looked a lot better than what its does. They should definitely think about lowering prices to if they want to stay busy, or add a lot more stuff. It took me and my girlfriend I think about 20mins to look at everything in the building and we were ready to leave.

This was my second time here and I've loved everything about it both times. The staff are always super friendly. Today we got to touch some of the animals and saw a snake feeding (almost, she didn't want to eat lol) I wouldn't be able to think of a single bad thing to say.

Nice place. It was clean and well maintained. The displays were interesting. The website recommended planning 2-3 hours here but we got through all the displays within an hour. Our kids favourite part by far was the playground. It was amazing and lots to do. I have it only 3 out of 5 stars because as a family of 4 it cost $60 for basically an hour plus playtime on the playground. I would add some snack options (besides vending machines) and more seating for adults while the kids play . The displays could have more variety as well .It was a good selection of reptiles but every cage looked pretty much the same with fake plants . I'll come back again but only on the cheap days.

Great experience! Kids loved seeing all the animals, which were very interactive and awake. They enjoyed seeing them in their habitats. Fun for both my 1 yr old and 3.5 yr old. A quick lap around the exhibit and it's over, the Crocs were the best display for me, even so it was hard to be too enamored with the place. An ok way to spend an hour and learn about the crawlers, swimmers and slitherers amongst us.

Great place to visit, not overly expensive and easy to navigate with strollers :). Went during Covid, so you have a 2 hour limit to see the whole place which was a perfect amount of time for us to see it all as well as see the show. Show was great, capacity of 24 people so you weren't cramped in there. You weren't able to touch the reptiles because of the restrictions at this time but you can regularly. Overall, if you're looking into going already I'd recommend you go!

I really love this place, within half an hour of our first visit my girlfriend and I knew that we wanted to buy a yearly pass, cause we'd be back! The staff here are incredibly nice, they're always happy to chat and make you feel welcome. Like, they'll remember you and talk to you like you're a friend, and ensure your experience is amazing. And of course, Reptilia has amazing animals! It's definitely a place we've enjoyed visiting and look forward to visiting many more times.

For anyone interested in reptiles, this is a great place to visit. The enclosures are really well done and there is multiple chances per day to view feedings. Many species that you would not expect to see or species that are unfamiliar. Venomous and non-venomous species of snakes are part of their collection as well as a great variety of lizards, turtles, tortoises, and frogs. Also crocodiles, alligators, African grey parrot, and tarantula! Feeding time for the crocodiles was exciting. Our grandkids loved our visit there.

Took my 3 year old and 1 year old for Valentine’s Day. Nothing says Cupid’s day like snakes! They both had a blast. Went right at 10am and stayed till 2 pm. The staff was great. They walk around and make sure everyone knows when they were doing a feeding or a tour. They pull out different animals for visitors to meet and educate them about. They had tables set up for colouring and a little Valentine’s craft. Kids play area is neat. Play place, music room, mirror maze, glow in the dark tunnel, and snake maze. The area has a water play area too with stones and rubber gators. Gift shop has lots to choose from. It is very warm wear a t shirt. No cafeteria for lunch or snacks, vending machines only. You are able to bring your own drink, snacks and food. They have seating and picnic tables at the enterence. It’s an all day pass, so you can even leave to eat and come back. Overall a great, fun, educational day.

As a reptile lover, visiting this establishment was a very upsetting experience. The enclosures were small enough to spur stress behaviours such as pacing and injury in several of the animals and were kept at a temperature not suitable for some of the species on display. I was distressed to find that all of the foliage and decorative pieces in the enclosures were fake, almost exclusively plastic and hardly a healthy environment for the animals. On top of this, there were a few creatures on display (such as the Gila Monster and the Fer-de-Lance) that probably shouldn't have been there in the first place as they're highly venomous and don't belong anywhere near our Canadian climates. It leads me to question how they're being cared for, and how they were acquired in the first place. Given that the area designated to the animals was so small (especially in comparison to the spaces for the playground and gift shop) I find it hard to believe the animals' best interest is in mind, and the place overall seems more about the entertainment value for the human visitors with little concern for the animals at all. Unfortunately I won't be going back, and I hope the best for all the critters stuck there.

First time visiting and it was great! Definitely worth visiting. Great winters day activity. The staff were friendly and the lady who did the animal talk and feeding was really knowledgeable. My son loved it. Great gift shop too. We've been to the Vaughan one but this one is so much better. A really clean environment, lots of animals to see and staff that were happy working there. A really nice outing.

I came here for a birthday not too long ago and it is perfect for people of all ages. Children can visit and get a up-close and personal meet and greet with a few animals and there are shows that display how some of the animals feed on smaller prey. I had a chance to see a snake swallow a small mouse, (it was already dead), in its entirety. Pretty cool! There are also souvenirs that can be purchased up at the front so you can leave with a keepsake or buy your kid a last minute gift, lol. Throwing a party for your kid or kids is perfect especially if reptiles, snakes and dinosaurs are their fascination. Definitely a must see if you are ever in Durham Region!

This zoo was amazing. Not only was the experience of the zoo itself fascinating and informational, they also have lots of tanks, hides, food and enclosures if you have or want to get a reptile. And the price of their food that I bought for my Leppard gecko was 1/10th the price it is at pets mart. Definitely worth the drive for cheaper gecko food!

Fun experience for the children. They enjoy seeing the different species of Reptiles but due to the Covid there was no shows and no engaging activities from the staff. It would have been nice to see the Reptiles in action, the Crocs in the water but most was sleeping or hiding. The indoor playground is closed. The outdoor ponds are dirty and unkept.

Quite a few large sized reptile exhibits. I was not impressed that the outside play area was under construction and that we would have to pay an extra $10 to feed the animals if we want to do that. They also have a shop that is very pricey. There was a large indoor play area that is fantastic and an eating area. Overall we had a good time and I will bring my kids here again. If the outside playground area had been open or if they offered us a slight discount for the playground being closed I would have given five stars.

Everything here is bigger and better than the original! My kids love checking out all the different animals and they especially love the big play area now. They're going to have an outdoor greenhouse and picnic area, along with animals on display. We're looking forward to that for sure. Also the people are very friendly and helpful and they believe in educating the kids. You can tell the place is run by people who care about what they do and what they offer.

Others were desperately trying to escape their habitats due to the loud noises (of children sounding like its Canada's Wonderland) coming from the play area. I don't blame them for wanting to escape the noise; it seems wrong to the reptiles to keep them locked up near a loud childrens play place.

A nice way to spend a cold or rainy afternoon. Got to see two feedings and a demo. It is a warm area, due to the requirements for their animals. The employees treat the animals with respect and were enthusiastic to tell you information about them if you ask politely. None of the animals are wild caught and a significant portion are from people who surrendered them, rescues or seizures. We were told they conform with Canadian Zoo standards and are registered as a zoo. The feedings are not for the squeamish - the food source are humanely handled, but it is raw wild animal behaviour.

Had a blast at Reptilia Whitby. The staff are awesome. Very knowledgeable and fun. Great interactivity and the animals are well taken care of. Admission prices are very reasonable. Adults are $16 and kids under 12 are $12. We watched a snake feeding which was incredible. We also got to see and touch two snakes. There was also a Tarantula, but we were not allowed to touch. Will bring the family back for sure.

The place has great care for the animals but I feel I was cheated. If you are like me and came as just you and your 3 year old and 5 year old. (Especialy if the kids are too excited to be there) Make sure you pay attention to what they are charging you at the front desk. They charged me for 1 extra child because I was distracted making sure my kids are okay. So pay attention at the front desk.

Honestly, mildly underwhelming. I've been to the Vaughan location a few times, and was excited to see what this one had to offer, especially boasting more square footage than its sister location. Sadly, didn't notice much difference between them, if anything this location felt like it had LESS in terms of the number of animals. The only place that felt bigger than the Vaughan location was the gift shop. Personally, if you live roughly equidistant between the Vaughan location and this one, Vaughan is a much better bang for the buck.

I was personally not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised! We ended up spending the whole afternoon there; and, we were able to take part into multiple tours, saw feedings and met many of the resident reptiles. Great fun for both kids and adults alike! Make sure to check the feeding schedule, as every day is different. :)

I had a very good time! I went with my boyfriend and it was quite an enjoyable experience, we saw and learned about all the different animals. They had a gift shop and prices were decent. At first I wasn't sure if I would be worth it because an adult ticket is $19.20 including tax but it was. They offered a show where you could learn about some of the animals they had and you could even pet them. They also offer pictures and feeding animals for an additional charge. But I had alot of fun and will definitely go again!

There are a large variety of snakes, lizards and reptiles (and one bird) on display. There are feeding demonstrations and "touch and feel" shows. The keepers are knowledgeable and happy to talk about their animals.

Not worth the price. The place is large but could fit more displays in. The gift shop and entrance take up a good 1/3 of the place. Some displays were empty as well. The staff were friendly. Took less than an hour to go through. For 3 adults I think it came to $55 or so. I could see myself paying maybe $11 a piece for what they have. This place could be a lot better.

The staff were nice, facility was clean and prices aren't too high. My low rating is due to the size of the animal enclosures being too small for the animals. I noticed stress related behavior (pacing, injury) in 4 of the animals (monitor lizards, large tortoise and forest cobras). I was also surprised to see so many venomous species here and can only wonder whether they have been wild caught.

I wish I could give Reptilia Whitby and all the staff 10 stars !!! It's a fantastic place to visit and learn about all the animals here . The staff here do an incredible job to keep the facility nice and clean and everyone is so friendly. The staff are always ready to answer any questions about the animals and very informative when the shows are on . I highly recommend this place to visit with children and families . The safety standards are very high so it's very safe to visit during this Covid pandemic. I can't say enough good things so I will end with a HUGE THANK YOU !!!!

Exhibits are excellent clean and well maintained. Only fault was the presentation in the theatre Unfortunately the young woman doesn't have a great voice fur that King of thing and because it backs on the play area she had to speak loudly. Try turning PA system up and then she can talk at normal levels. Walls up to the ceiling at the back and sides would be an idea too. Great time though

Some of the food bowls had dried out bits of food in them. They didn't look like they were being cleaned everyday. It's sad to see how small some of the tanks are for the animals. The animals looked miserable when I was there. Very expensive too! I wouldn't recommend going here and I wont be back.

Animals are unhappy and or lifeless. Imagined human voices and cries all day .. For a "zoo" aquariums / enclosures / spaces are much too small ... NO ecosystem is reproduced, despite the explanatory tables on each species and their country of origin which explain their natural habitat. The space is designed for humans and not for animals. Buying space is more important than the well-being of reptiles ... I understand that here we save a few animals. But protection or well-being is not a priority. It is impossible to believe that a plastic plant helps to reproduce the natural ecosystem for reptiles ... During our visit at no time we felt that these animals were receiving good attention. (Original) Pour commencer : si vous voulez voir des animaux malheureux dans un habitat en plastique et beaucoup trop petit pour la réalité. C'est l'endroit pour vous ! L'endroit est a demi ouvert et mal insonorisé.. Les animaux on l'aire malheureux et ou sans vie. Imaginé les voix et les cris humains toute la journée.. Not worth the money. Spent $42 for me and my 2 kids. Expected to spend a couple of hours their for that money. We took our time and were through all of the exhibits in less than 30 minutes. I was not impressed that all the greenery in the animals cages is fake. Would like to see the reptiles better cared for. My kids liked the play place at the end but I could not stand the heat after 30 minutes we had to leave!

I used to go to the Whitby one a lot until it seems management may have changed..a lot of new faces working there now. No one actually seems to know too much about their stuff like the people before did. Not as nice or as helpful. Animal exhibits all seemed in poor condition. The place is nice and clean but it takes probably 5 minutes to walk through it ( website stated it takes 2hrs) It is extremely hot no air moving around at all. The only part that all the kids seemed to like was the play place at the end. 98% of the animals are snakes! $48 for my husband myself and our 3yr old - not worth the money.

Took my almost 3 year old. Staff were super friendly and helpful. I honestly wouldn't go if you just have toddlers. A lot of the animals were hard to see at her age, and really once she saw one snake she didn't care to see the rest. The lady who put on the show was lovely but it was hard to hear her. The oldest kid in the room was 3 and she gave almost too much info that the kiddos started getting quite bored. We loved the play area, so much fun but wish it had some better sight lines for parents, once they are up in the second level of the structure you can't see them because of covering on the structure. Hard when you are trying to watch multiple kids. It is very warm, wear a t-shirt. I think the whole experience would be suited towards 5 years and up.

They have a great selection on live feeders for reptiles. I come here to get butterworms, silkworms, and waxworms mostly! The last couple times I got the feeders they were always in the best quality you can get compared to other shops in town.

We highly anticipated the opening of reptilia whitby since we have loved visiting the vaughn location for years. This zoo did not disappoint. We went during a week day so there were few guests. This allowed us to get a great guided tour by several staff members. We got to have many close encounters with the animals. The staff here are absolutely fabulous. It can seem a bit short if you breeze through it like you're at the metro zoo, but if you take the time to appreciate the variety of animals you realise that there is so much here. If you've been to the vaughn location, all the animals you would expect to see are here. The play area is fun and unique. A few things were still getting finishing touches when we visited.

Big and clean but a distinct feeling of being unfinished. Lots of vacant/nothing spaces. None of the 10+ flat screen TV's were turned on. Very low-tech. Presenter in the theatre needs a Mic and an assistant to keep the show moving. No way of being educational unless you/your child read the small signs at each exhibit which are positioned at adult height. Takes less than 30 minutes to walk through. Stars are for the play area. Seems to have lots of untapped potential.

Took my 3 year old grandson, think he was a little young to appreciate the displays. Hard for him to see the reptiles spent a lot of time lifting him up. I enjoyed it though. He did enjoy the play area, but I feel the price for a 3 year old is a bit high considering most of his time was spent in the play area.

This place really exceeded our expectations! Very clean, very well organized. The staff are super nice and my boys had a blast. The kids play area was seriously awesome - I wasn’t expecting a rock climbing wall, hall of mirrors, maze, play area...so fun! Definitely worth the money.

Had a great time at Reptilia! Kids loved it. Good social distancing and safety measures in place for Covid. Good value. I went to the original location of Reptillia when it was mostly a pet store plus a handful of display animals. Now they have two nice locations that are mini zoos. The animals are so active and interactive due to their great care. Normally you can touch animals during presentations as well. This location has nile crocodiles, black and green mamba, anacondas, tarantulas, and much more. Nice indoor and outdoor play areas for kids. Reasonably priced gift shop. They also sell feeders and equipment for folks keeping reptiles themselves. Great two hour event or birthday spot for kids.
