REVIEWS OF Greater Vancouver Zoo IN Argentia

Wrecker of Days

I was there today for an event I booked for nephew 6 years old birthday - behind the scene with an animal of your chosen. It is really worth it, we did this 2 years ago with the Giraffe and today was the Cheetah. Fantastic experience and wonderful memories. The cost included admission, you get to prep the meal for the animal, zoo keeper share story and history about the animal, then you get to feed them plus someone from their team keeps snapping photos for you to pickup at the end of your visit on a USB stick. Our zoo keeper Rita, great energy, knowledgeable, super friendly, awesome with kids just loves her. She makes the whole event more fun then ever. Definitely recommended and will do this again with a different anaimal.

There was no update to the animal situation. Some of the animals was sleeping when I asked Zoo officials . He said it's too hot.We drove a long way to came to the zoo and the ticket is expensive. Dinosaurs department has been vigilant.

Jen Somerville

A must see. Great for the kids. Rent a bike. It will make your experience more enjoyable. I would give a 5 star rating, but the admission fees were unbelievably high. That's the reason why we don't visit more often.

Rob Penner

The Greater Vancouver Zoo is a very peaceful, family environment. A great place to spend the day. Bike rentals are available, a miniature train ride around the zoo or an enjoyable walk are other options. A variety of snacks and refreshments are available on site. Admission is reasonably priced for individuals, groups, families and annual passes. There is plenty of parking which is only $6. For the day. Staff are friendly and very good sources of information on the variety of animals housed there.

Sardor Artikov

Always a fun experience. We have had yearly passes for the last 5 years. Even took our son regularly as a baby, he enjoyed the stroll and the fresh air. Make sure you bring your walking shoes, it's a very enjoyable walk through nature and it's animals!

Alyssa Beaumont

Loved it. New buildings etv. Just missing an Elephant.

Very beautiful site

Ilanna Barkusky

Great zoo! Got to be up close and personal with some incredible species (bears, moose, cheetah, giraffe, etc). Highly recommend the quad bike rental! $18/hour for the quad bike which easily fits two adults and a couple of toddlers, and made it so we saw almost all of the zoo in about 90 minutes.

Qussay Solmen

Need more Animals and more activities and for sure need big renovation. We like the new section for the dinosaurs.

Tiffany Vink

While not as fancy as Seattle's but always great to support local, especially these times. Best part are the unique side by side bike rentals! A definite must for this size. $20 for the hour is a deal. A bit of a front basket to store yr bags and all. Best animals were the bear cubs and tiger. Too bad giraffes were sleeping by 4pm so get there early.

Pretty poor, considering it's close to Vancouver city, we where expecting a nicer zoo, like Toronto zoo, or Niagara's. Both are way better than GVZoo

Julio

I was able to see the happy hyppo feeding and it was a great experience. It's large and spacious so I was able to get a good excercise walking around.

TheJindal Family

The zoo was great for half day visit and some unique animals It took us 3 hours to walk and visit all part of the zoo There are many playgrounds for kids, gift shops and of course food and drinks

I Attwal

So much fun! You can walk or rent a bike to roam around. So much animals to see. They all look well taken care of. They are still renovating some area so, some parts are restricted. They have some food court and clean washroom by the entrance.

Emilie Lombardo

I guess it’s a double edge sword; you either get a real good view of the animals small cages or they’re harder to see and probably happier. At the greater Vancouver zoo, they’re a bit harder to see. Which means they have more space to roam. That being said, some of the animals need company. For example, there was one beautiful zebra all alone in its’ space. You will NEVER see a line zebra in the wild. They live in big numbers. This was sad. Although there were lots of animals, a little work on variety would have gone a long way. For example, there was a serious lack of primates (only a couple of cute but lazy lemurs), no animals that you would find in aquariums (penguins, polar bears or any swimmers). There was a huge array of felines and deer or deer like animals. Again, variety. The toilets were lacking, and the porta potties scattered about were either too full (as in nearly overflowing) or super dirty. For $30 per adult plus parking, could have done better. The food was overpriced too, but I guess this is the norm. And the gift shop was not exciting. I can’t say we had a bad day, but it could have somehow been more exciting. It is nice that the kids can bike around though.

Canada K

We went there on a Sunday with two toddlers in November in Covid times. Everything well marked, great social distancing, 15 min mini train ride was operating with plastic shields between rows of two per seat (there is a spot to leave your cart or stroller which is highly recommended you take given the significant expanse of the zoo). Bike rentals were not operational as of Nov 1st. We saw hippos, giraffe, lions, jaguar, flamingos, tiger, ostrich, peacocks and all sorts of other interesting animals. The animals appeared well cared for and I understand are mostly if not all rescues? Highly recommend for a morning or afternoon out with the kids.

Eric

It was a pretty cool experience but we thought there would have been more of each animal. Some we only saw one and in other exhibits we didn’t see any because that 1 was hiding.

Ana Milinavicius

A bit more rustic than the Zoos I'm used too. It's nice to see the animals in so much space but at times that makes it difficult to see the animals. The concessions are not great so bring enough of your own food for your family. You will get hungry and thirsty, it is a lot of walking because the enclosures are so big. We didn't ride the train but it may be worth trying. Definitely walk the far back trail to see the Bison and Elk bulls.

Thomas Curtis

The new entrance looks so nice !

Karthegaginiy Parmeswaran

Wonderful place to take your family to. I did not realize that the zoo is so hug that you can actually let your kids ride their bikes through. Since there were lots of renovations happening, some of the animals were not kept at the zoo. I’m looking forward to taking my children back once the renovations are done ;-)

MITI Ventures

It was amazing experience. Properly Marked zones, don't forget to rent vehicle if u can't walk too much especially elderly people or couple with kids. Well maintained, huge parking space, but I think tickets for kids should be $15 not $21 upto 7 years, but its worth it as they have to maintain staff expenses also animals hygiene and food , so many refreshments spots to relax. Visiting here is wonderful, knowledge for kids adding up some government jobs and contributions towards my country. ???????? ???? Love u ????

Monique Guerreiro

The place is beautiful specially during winter time. However, a lot cages are empty and sometimes is too small. I actually felt bad for the animals, they look so sad.

Darnell Smith

It is a really great activity for the kids and have them bring their bikes to ride around the zoo. A little expensive but if you get a seasoned pass it is far more affordable and the price seems justified as the animals must be expensive to care for.

Praveena k.s.

It's been a pleasant experience. Kids enjoyed a lot specially in Dino park.

WHATCHA MCCALLUM

Good overall experience. Kids enjoyed the lion show, wife and I enjoyed the bear and eagle exhibits. Hot weather so bring water and expect some animals to hide in the shade. Day well spent.

Jasmine Filpula

Fun and informative shows with zoo keepers and many animals to view! The canteen is nicely priced as well. The train ride is a fun addition.

Roger Stephens

It's an ok place but they could do with a few new ideas....monkeys...mini aquarium.....spiders.

soheil abdoli

It's not worth the money, there is no variety of animals, we paid money to watching more trees!!!!, it looks more like a park than a zoo, I regret the money and the time which I have spent.

Sam

I know that there are ethical questions about visiting a zoo, but I’m not going to address those here. I’m just going to give my take on the zoo and it’s facilities and services. First off, the zoo is about and hour away from Vancouver and if there is traffic on the highway, it could be much more coming or going, so plan accordingly. The front of the zoo itself has really been updated if you haven’t been in a while. You can buy tickets online, there is a nice big parking lot (pay parking) with a beautiful ticket booth/entry and a nice concession stand and gift shop. Even the washrooms were nice and clean when we went. The rest of the zoo will look familiar if it’s been a while since you’ve been. The exhibits are older and quite natural and the pathways around are surprisingly narrow once it starts to get busy. For a local comparison, the infrastructure for the animals is nowhere near as nice as the Woodland Park Zoo (Seattle). There is a good range of animals to see and it will be exciting for the kids when they get a chance to see real tigers, lions, bears, hippos, giraffes, zebras, etc. They have also added a dinosaur section with animatronic dinosaurs and an entry gate that resembles Jurassic Park. I would also suggest riding the train as it’s a good way to see the whole zoo and get some information. The quad bikes are fun, but they do require a lot of effort, especially at the end when you have to go up one final hill. If you want to save some money, they also encourage you to bring your own bikes or scooters to get around a little more easily. Once you’re done at the zoo, it’s a good chance to do some of the circle farm tours and visit the wineries, farms, and restaurants that can be found throughout the Fraser Valley.

Tina Evans

Just wow. This was a great app for the whole family. Giraffes, lions, panthers, bears, tortoises, lemurs and more that I can't remember. Take a bike or scooter, there are nice asphalt paths to cruise around. We walked which was just fine too. Lovely gift shop. The animals seemed to have more room than I've seen in most zoos and most were in n pain sight. The high point was a pair of grizzly cubs putting on a show. They wrestled for ten minutes right in front of us. Grunting and huffing and shoving and biting.

Veronique Kelly

Love it! The upgrade done to the Zoo are amazing.. completely worth every penny.. highly recommend ????

Daniel Alexander

It's an alright place for a family gathering, however I wouldn't recommend visiting purely for the sake of seeing zoo animals. There weren't any spider monkeys, baboons, or wolves, which is out of the ordinary for folks who've visited before. If you do go, the raptor show is a must see. Very cool close up experience with birds of prey.

Carolina Pimentel

Had a great day here! Enjoyed every bit. A fun activity with family.

Steve Mallinson

So disappointed. I went here as a child with my dad and took my children when they were young. Many happy memories. We went today with friends. Absolutely pathetic. Many animals are missing with no replacement. The areas are filthy and run down. The animals look undernourished. Many enclosures are empty. We've been to the Woodland zoo in Seattle for half the cost and it's amazing and educational. Shame on you to charge so much for so little. I am embarrassed that this is our lower mainland zoo. The animals deserve better and so do we.

Curtis Friesen

This is a great place with an upgraded parking lot and entrance to the zoo. It has a gift store and a restaurant will good food. I can see some new areas being made and changes that will improve the experience. Great job to the zoo staff

Ty Davidson

We love going with the kids, they can go in the scooter or bike

Cameron Malazdrewicz

Really nice zoo, they have lots of animals to look at all inside of a very large property. The zoo seemed to be well kept and the animals well taken care of. The only negative thing is that at the time of our visit they did not have some of the animals that we were looking forward to seeing and the ticket price of about $21 can be high when going with more people. Despite this I enjoyed my time here.

Adriana V

Pricey, dissapointing having to pay to enter then paying for everything else as well. Your pass does not include nothing other than going through the door. They should offer a family pack or discounts.

Micaela Robinson

Edited: They recently opened the small dinosaurs area. Kids love it. It's not on the map yet, but it's close to where mini donuts are. Get a copy of Entertainment book for 2-for-1 admission tickets. Not available for online version but a hard copy still has this deal.

Chris

I wasn't expecting to enjoy the zoo. But boy was I wrong. There was lots too see and the staff was very knowledgeable. If you can check out the train it costs a little extra but was a lot of fun.

Zoey Zou

It’s a very lovely zoo. It’s relatively small compared to those massive fancy ones, but it’s really adorable and I love how active and happy the animals are. They seems to be respected and taken care of. We arrived in the afternoon and some of them are sleeping, but as it approaching dinner time, we did see interesting intersections. It probably takes 2-3 hours to walk around and finish the zoo, next time I will try to arrive in the early morning to make sure I can get some good photos.

Melanie Tan

Underwhelming, some exotic animals but they're so spaced out in a seemingly small zoo that youd be lucky to get a glimpse of anything more than a bear and a few bison. Also DO NOT get the cherry flavoured slushies, cold fridge magnets though.

Chelsea Woo

Great experience. Unfortunately some exits where closed, but what we were able to see was very exciting for our daughter and her friend. I would say the price is a bit on the high side, but again I don't feel like it's grosly overpriced consider the size of property and types of animals they are housing. Great selection of animals, lots of restrooms and vendors. About as family friendly as a place can be.

Absolutely Disappointed. Have tried a total of 4 times over the last 3 years, and cannot believe how empty, expensive, and a waste of time this zoo is. Even with the New Dinosaur setup, it is a complete waste of money. For us a family of 4 it came to $160 including a train ride. Do Not Go. Do Not Waste Your Money. You will be Dissapointed. We have given up on this Zoo.

Jorgo Caca

Excellent place to discover the animals in their "natural" habitat. The kids will love and the animals were surprisingly very friendly and kean to take pictures.

Mostafa Saad

Last year I visited Toronto zoo, which was amazing. This zoo is much smaller with poor collection. Anyway, kids enjoyed. If you don't have high expectations, it may work with you.

ghassan ahmad

It's the worst zoo I have ever been . Few animals ...hardly to catch them for pictures or to be closer ...

Andrea Coleman

Oh.. animals, and you can see them every day if you wish. Just get annual pass which is paid of with like two visit fee entrances. From small insects, reptiles, birds to volves, Giraffe, bears, tigers and of course my favorite Lion! They have different programs to enjoy and kids to learn about animals. Also there is small train ride for families to enjoy, kids have the most of fun during ride. Awesome food, playground available. And yes if you get anuall pass you get free parking.

ANIT MARIA Joseph

A fun experience with my friends, they also had a scavenger hunt. It is paid parking and the parking meter is close to the main entrance.

Jora Nijjar

Visited on a beautiful weekend in the fall. Beautiful and peaceful nature. The tour guide was so amazing, enthusiastic and knowledgeable! We saw and learned a lot about the animal from him. The train ride is nice. We had a great campfire with hotdogs, smores and hot chocolate. Beautiful sky with stars. Such an awesome place to spend a weekend with friends and family!

Zana Kamangar

It is just ok, but for Greater Vancouver, I expected much more

Phillip Chang

Just spent a day at the zoo and I have nothing but good things to say. The animals had huge enclosures and each had a small house if they wanted to retreat from the outdoors. They all had enrichment items (toys) and looked healthy and content. This was my first time at the greater Vancouver zoo and I was honestly pleasantly surprised. Obviously this is a small zoo so they didn't have all the whistles and bells that larger zoos have. If you want a deluxe entertainment experience this is not the place. If you want to stroll around and admire some well cared for exotic animals, this is the place. They also had many animals local to BC and Canada, I found out from one of the staff all of these are non releasable rescue animals. All the more reason to support this great little place. Don't listen to the bad reviews, go see for yourself if you're interested. You won't be disappointed.

Johnny C.

This Zoo has a lot of animals and is a fun place to bring your kids. But the admission fee is 25$ per adult and 23 per child which I find expensive. I would of loved if they had some monkeys/gorillas here but they didn't. But overall I had a fun time.

Edward Dewijn

Good variety of animals giraffes and hippos an elephant would have topped it off!! Food choices limited to a cafeteria place with hotdogs and nachos. Great time for kids

SABiersteker

Good food nice environment lots for the kids to see and to top it off you don't have to wear a mask!!!!! Yay!!!!! Only in the gift shop.

Timo F

Had a great day at the zoo. Wished there were more stations to fill water bottles, but maybe I missed them. The animals have lots of room, but that also means we cannot always get a good view, but I prefer that have room rather than being cramped for display.

Sarah Butler

It was a great way to go for a long walk and enjoy the animals on a sunny day.

Tina Lee

The fees are very high! ,but we know they are need fee to animals. Kids are very happy! Watch schedule can see more animals “do some things “ :) Take picture with Owl for $5 kids can hold owl on arm ! So beautiful so great! Rent a Bike it’s so fun (kids are happy, but it’s tired for parents..) Free walking peacocks near play area.

Hira Arshad

We went to zoo today. Honestly, it wasn't as expected. I paid $60 for entry of my husband and I and my little one whose 2.5 years old and loves animals. He is a child who doesn't stop showing his excitement when he sees animals. Jumps shouts and all. The zoo was just huge and it was basically only a walk. There were hardly any animals and if there were, either they were too far to be seen or just one which could hardly be seen by a child since the areas for them to roam are too big. One hippo? One giraffe? One Zebra? I mean it was a total waste of money and time and my son didn't even get to see animals at all as they were hardly visible. We went for a walk I guess ???? Not happy at all. Few animals looked hungry as well and bear was eating grass ☹️

Jerusalem Malimban

Large zoo space but we didn't get to see some of the animals that are stated in the map. Didn't get to meet staff to tour you around or explain stuff. Wish we brought a telescope cause you can't see them up close except for the giraffe and one or two more animals. Not worth the price that day for the ticket imo. But maybe it's just because of covid situation.

Nathan Xal Rice

Great place to bring kids . Wonderful experience

Mr Nice guy

Fun experience some cool animals

Jerry Lu

Rided train,so awesome Kids loves here, good with family , so many animals , ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????, we stay for many hours

Trudy Jones

A great day out. Fast food available. Walk or rent a covered bike. Train wasn't available and couldn't see giraffes this time. Suggest calling ahead to see what isn't available.

Namrata Patil Thandi

This zoo was huge!!! I got to see my first ever giraffe, which was a amazing experience! Side note mini donuts were so yummy. They also have bikes for rent if you have a little one cause it can be a long walk, when it is hot outside.

Kees Rekers

Very nice experience well set up and easy to follow signs and directions. Animals seem very happy here and they have a great display of the animals

Juan Wick

Great place, don't is a big zoo but is good

Anthony MacPherson

We went over March break and the wait to get into the zoo was pretty bad. After 40 minutes in line we ended up using our phones to buy tickets online so we could finally get in and skip the slow line. Once we got into the zoo it was great, nice variety of animals etc.

Ranjeet kaur

There are still some exotic animals. But for the most part the shift to domestic animals is evident. The tiger gave a great show. The animals come out for our viewing pleasure for the most part! Nice play area. The train ride around was nice. Definately worth a visit!

Victor Okunev

Had a great time with the kids! Got a real close view of the lion too. It was right up against the fence.

Tracy Christensen

Went today. Parking too much $8. Many exhibits were closed and empty. No lion or tiger shows, seating taken down. No birds or monkeys. Giraffe area closed. No petting zoo area or peacocks. Amphibian house closed. Didn't see many of the animals, maybe due to heat, still dissapointing. Really should put on their website about the closed exhibits. Still charging full price however. Dinosaur exhibit would be cool for younger kids, mine are teens. Very busy. Only good part of today, the grizzlies were out and eating, right place right time! And the tiger came out! We only spent 2 1/2 hours there, usually 4-5! Loved the mini donuts and lemonade stand!

Aaron

As a 3 year member it is so nice to see all the improvements to the facilities. Great to see the new alligator exhibit - close enough to make you want to keep your children close while keeping an eye on their every movement and eye roll.

Hans Giesbrecht

A lot of the animals need more space, and the chain link fences make it harder to see the animals. Wish they could be better about the enclosures, but the animals at least appear healthy.

Ming Lu

Nice space for kids to run around. They need more animals we barley saw any.

Tab Ward

This animal zoo is a great palace to spend time with your families and friends. It is a well-maintained park to visit wildlife and wild bird. The crocodiles and python that you visit in the house have amazing beauty. In this zoo I got to see some wildlife that I don't know much about. The lion and the leopard are seated with his majestic grace. They all appear within the barbed wire fence. In addition to this I saw a donkey, small horse, amaizing camel, very big cow and a big goat. The map of the tour guide in the courtyard is wonderful and clear. There is also a children's playground in the yard. The zoo has enough parking place.

Daniel Forsythe

Okay but not up to standard for a City the size of Vancouver. Calgary and Edmonton zoo have much better facilities

Alex L

Nice. A good place for the animals living there. An amazing place for families.

A masih

It's a very sad place now. Most animals were minimally visible. Some empty cages and some exhibits were closed down. It is not the once lively zoo that I once used to visit when I was a child. As an adult, I do not support the zoo and aquariums. This will be the last time I take my family to the Vancouver Zoo.

elahe tavakol

The zoo is great! The season pass is an awesome gift idea that my mom gave to me. It is a fantastic space to take your family for a walk or bike ride. The grizzly cubs are a trio that I could watch for hours. The only reason I would give for not five stars is that there are often empty enclosures and there is always construction being done. It would be cute if they hung up signs saying the names of the animals. One thing to note is to only buy the mini doughnuts from the stand near the Dino exhibit, the other ones aren’t even close to as good.

YINAN DONG

Starting from parking lots, the lines and numbers are faded. Many of the animal slots were empty. Some of animals territory can be seen by one side only like if animals are sitting or roaming on the other side you can barely see them. I really feel pity for camels. It looked like their skin was peeling off. You can bring your own ride like cycle, tri or quad or you can rent them from inside $20 for one hour. But they don't have many. And the washrooms inside the zoo are pit stops (not cleaned).

Ravinder Singh

I’ve visited this place and it was the worst experience of my life, the animals are in bad condition and they are not taken well care of. Actually I haven’t even saw all the animals they state they have, half of the cages were empty. I would say that it’s a total waste of money. I would never recommend this zoo to anyone. If you ever want to get upset, just go there and see in what conditions they keep the animals. If there was the option of giving minus star i would have done that, but since there’s no such option i’ll give one star.

Brian Pogorevc

Waste of money going to this place way to expensive and really not much to see .This place looks like a disaster so dirty seems no one takes care of the animals and this place.Half of the area is closed for construction and not able to see lot of the animals .

Cameron Mccoll

Zoo is always fun Skip past the bike rental... it's not worth it and if you have kids you end up pushing it because it's only 1 gear and lots of hills The train ride was fun They need to work on sanitization better especially with covid The washrooms where so gross

Anjali Purohit

My absolute favourite zoo. Amidst chaos of life, wildlife is a breather.

Anthony Jeon

Great staff and the animals were amazing. My family and friends loved it. Would recommend to everyone!

Ryan Upton

Brilliant!

Jonathan Wang (德揚)

It's an alright zoo, but how much you enjoy it will depend on your expectations. If you go in expecting dozens of animals everywhere you go you'll be disappointed. If you go in expecting a relaxing walk with some animals on the side it's a pretty good time. I went with my girlfriend and we got to see three grizzly bear cubs playing right up against their enclosure, and a hippo pacing around near the viewing gallery. Overall it was pretty good, but temper your expectations.

Anson Li

Best get away for summer! Can spend one quality day! But lion show and all other feeding shows like bear, cougar , radical raptors are the highlights. We went on the beautiful small train ride. My son loved it very interesting and you get to see the whole park if you have missed some parts during your walk. Just for fun we did some bike ride too. We enjoyed it and my son enjoyed ringing the bell. The repetail section was great too. Food in the restaurant is so fresh and really good number of options!

Amy Elizabeth

My newly wed husband and I went here when we were dating and really enjoyed our visit. We rented a 2 seater bike and had a blast looking at all the beautiful and magnificent animals. We look forward to going back this spring/summer. The animals are clean and well cared for. The staff are all personable.

Win Ho

Great in the morning if you can beat the school kid rush. Very natural zoo. Loved it.

Robyn Valenta

This zoo has clearly seen better days. There are plenty of exhibits that are empty and the grounds need maintenance. It is also very pricey for such a run down zoo. I would not recommend it. The Vancouver aquarium is a far better experience.

Alym Amlani

Just called the zoo to see if they would honour a family day pass that was bought for us as a gift. It was for 2 adults and 2 children, current value, $98. I knew calling that they may or may not honour it as it expired December, 2017. I was initially told by their manager, Laura, that it was because their prices have gone up. I offered to pay the difference in price. She then said they don't have any records of gift certificates that old and I therefore could not do that. I also asked if gift certificates can expire, apparently they do, gift cards don't. While I realize we missed the expiry date, it would have been very easy for the zoo to allow us to pay the difference. This would have been a very different review then, thanking them for allowing us to use the gift certificate. We will not be going to Vancouver zoo today.

Courtz J

Great for biking and they have playground for kids. I am not sure if you can cook in the picnic areas

R Monkey

Loved it. New buildings etv. Just missing an Elephant.

KIRAN SHARMA

Grateful to God for natural beauty Easy to visit

Cetty Bermejo

Even though we didn't really get to see alot of the animals because it was off season, we showed up an hour before close and it was feeding time BUT it was still awesome to be there! Met an adorable zebra ????who was considerably much better at handling the cold than I was! ☺️ Also got to meet a very cute grizzly???? cub taking a poo while walking to its den. Hehe!

Rnold Smith

We LOVE the zoo. We got the membership which is worth it if you go more than 2 times a year. They have so many animals and this last year all the updates are looking awesome! Love the dinosaur exhibit too ????

Anthony Leung

Great family getaway. Visit early as most animals hide after lunch. Highly recommend following the guides and feeding schedule to make the most out of your visit. Could use more weed whacking as blackberry bushes and weeds are poorly controlled in most areas.

Byron F

We experienced it on an overcast to rainy day but overall it was not bad. We saw many exotic animals including a cheetah and a tiger. Local ones too like bear cubs and bald eagles. The lions and elephants were hiding indoors in their feeding kennels we were told. No shows due to us going later just before closing. It's not worth going if you don't plan to spend half a day there on a hotter day. Shows a plenty and food options limited. Bathrooms are scarce. Lots of walking needed and not many covered areas so take a rain or shade umbrella. They have a train but it wasn't working on our day. It was an okay experience.

Mikael Harvey

Our family loves the zoo! It has great wide-open spaces that are perfect for riding bikes or scooters, the animals are usually active and easy to spot, the staff is friendly and helpful, and they share great information about the animals with us on every visit. It is always clean and very well maintained. The playground is great too. If you live in even relatively close proximity, the membership pass is well worth the investment. The only downside is that the train ride is expensive, and is no longer included in the membership. Overall, though, the cost-to-benefit ratio is very high in favour of benefit.

Sarah Le

Great experience to include as part of our home schooling of our kids. The animals all looked healthy and it wasn't very busy when we went. We brought scooters which was a nice way to get around.

Georgescu Adrian

Had great time with my toddler on April 11th Sunday. It is a good size to take children out and play for couple of hours,it was a lot bigger than my expectation(from reviews). I will visit again for sure.

Suhrab Kazi

A place where we saw lots of animal they are well secured the train trip was asume it would have been the great invention/ help if the parking was free just sugesting.

Daniel T

Great zoo, a bit smaller than expected, no food served. but perfect for toddler.

Ashley J

Such a great zoo. My son had a great day. Playground is a hit!

Surrey Handyman

My wife and I are seasons pass holders and enjoy our time at Vancouver Zoo every time we go!

Hardeep Kaur (Deep)

????

Lisa Hamper

The animals are well cared for and there's lots to see. I would have liked it better if there were more water filling stations. There's lots of expensive vending machines but the only place to refill a water bottle is right at the front entrance.

Sherry Song

I always enjoy going to the zoo especially one that really cares for it's animals. Great gift shop and food as well, however my one gripe would be admission price is in my opinion a tad steep! At $25 plus parking you are into quite an expensive day before you even see your first creature I think $15 is more reasonable everything is just so costly these days that expensive admission makes it so I don't go as often as I would want to. They can make all there money off 100 people or lower price and make way more money off 1000 people simple economics

I reallylove that you can bring your own bike and bike trailer or whatever setup you need for you and your family or friends. Got a seasons pass and my kid enjoys the large variety of animals. It's always the same but different, in that the animals are doing different things or in different places. The cougar was freaking me.out; the way it follows my child with its eyes... gets into an aggressive, I may pounce stance. My child is oblivious to this and squeals in delight at the attention. I can't help but feel a deep sorrow at these beautiful animals in captivity. There to amuse the humans. I love to see them but feel Sick at myself for supporting anything alive being stuck in a cage. I like that animals that have been hurt and can't go back to the wild have a place there but there's no way all the animals came to the zoo in such a way. Anyways, the zoo is good and the zoo is bad. The zoo is like everything else in life. Sigh.

Justine Bouma

Lots of updates to the zoo. Getting better every visit. Food could use some better options

Shane Physiotherapy

It was really nice to go during the winter compared to the summer. Unfortunately not all of the animals can be seen as some must be kept indoor for the cold season, which makes total sense for they animals' well being. The majority, if not all, of the animals here have been rescued from somewhere. Either due to injury or living for too long in poor circumstances they cannot be brought back to the wild. It's nice to see these animals up close and appreciate their beauty from a safe and respectful distance. Although they are upgrading continually, as an electrician, it really bothered me to see such a completely, and not even close to electrical code, work being installed in the animal enclosures. Things like improper strapping, seismic, and the wrong materials being used for the job were everywhere. I would be completely embarrassed of myself to have put my name on that work. When using so many overhead power lines as they do, grounding/bonding becomes very important to the safety of these animals. If someone couldn't strap something to a wall what is the chance they understand the rules and regulations for Bonding a neutral conductor to ground? Slim. Look up dancing cows stray voltage for examples. This small rant does not affect the rating for the fact that all the animals seemed very relaxed and well taken care of. I'm glad there is a place in the Vancouver area that kids can see and learn to respect these wonderful creatures on our planet that would not have made it had the zoo not rescued them. :) Thanks for a nice time.

I was extremely dissapointed at the zoo this last visit. Normally we love the zoo itself, but I have no compliments for the staff. I took an individual with special needs and he went to order a hot dog. They served everyone around us (families) and by the time 15 min. passed and he got so upset and anxious I realized something was wrong. He politely stood by the serving window waiting for his at this point and yet they continued to ignore him as he got more and more upset. I asked several times if it was coming and they never checked but told me they were making it. After the poor guy finally lost it I ran to the window and told them to give us a hot dog NOW. Such rude, unapologetic ladies. Extremely dissapointed in how they handled things.

Karl Geluk

Animals are always great anywhere. What makes the difference for the zoo is the quality of staff. Their service sucks. There is no courtesy for the visitors. They don't know how to say "thank you" or "sorry" for the service manner. At the admission you need to buy the train tickets and make sure to check the time. They don't tell you the time and if you miss it, they blame you. And there is no refund. They treat you like a liar.

Sonja Brink

It was an amazing day at zoo. The atmosphere was calm and cool, very hygienic, clean and well maintained place. Thanks to all the staff members for making us feel fresh and have good experience. My kid enjoyed watching animals, maps are very well displayed. Variety is not that huge some 50 animals, as the area is huge sometimes you feel that there should have been more animals. Overall a good place for family outing. Don't go on a stat holiday, parking lot gets full easily.

Saliman Rahmani

I really liked the walk. It's peaceful, but my kids were a little disappointed visiting Greater Vancouver Zoo. They don't have monkeys, elephant, birds, snakes and many more animals. My children have seen the San Diego zoo and had similar expectation I guess. The space is huge, but only a few animals some of which are hardly seen. Some parts are under construction. I hope they bring in more animals soon.

Lane Pettit

Great experience at the GVZoo. Great staff and beautiful animals everywhere. I felt like the staff really enjoyed looking after each animals needs.

Fernando Patricio

Took the family to the zoo for the day, Had the best time. Amazing place to see lots of animals. Staff was very friendly.

Alexander Marchenko

Great date for my girlfriend and I. Drove all the way from Kelowna to see it. Had some empty exibits, which was a little disappointing, but overall it was a great trip

Fatima Yusuf-Al-Marzouk

We loved it and we saw alot of different animals today.

Stanley Komarniski

It was boring.. pretty much only a few animals were able to be seen.

Chris Tuttle

Small, good for walk with children. Riding a train is a good experience and good idea to take a look at once.

Ozzie Tran

Great animals! The kids had a blast!

T K

Lots of animals. Fair admission price and not crowded. You can easily have a fun filled day by visiting

Eat

Lots if improvement in the grounds happening now and looking good! Lots of people but a good amount of space to view the exhibits.

Shawn Collin

Very good selection of animals and the new construction and design of the place is very inviting. Animals look to be much happier with now ownership than previous times we have went.

Bonnie Wong

It was a nice place to take the kids. Lots of animals. Many places to picnic and to sit. Not a lot of washrooms tho. Too expensive for zoo. But if you use ET book then it's ok. BOGO.

Ali Jassim

Could be better and more enjoyable if the rates made more affordable

zhangy

The zoo looks getting better. Keep it up.

High On Life Vlogs & Review

Great day at the zoo. Grandchildren really enjoyed. Animals not seeming stressed, grounds very meticulous, am thinking the new ownership is creating a great opportunity into the health and care of these most vulnerable and wonderful animals. We really enjoyed the day here! Will visit again.

Anne Cross

Had a wonderful day walking around the Zoo, we arrived around 1 and stayed till closing. A few of the exhibits were being renovated, but we were able to get a second look at some animals that may have been sleeping. All in all it was a wonderful visit

Hans Giesbrecht

A lot of the animals need more space, and the chain link fences make it harder to see the animals. Wish they could be better about the enclosures, but the animals at least appear healthy.

ECU Bill

Fairly small. There various animals, but I guess it is still cool for them to show up in the early summer !! Have a nice walk

IIRadRexII

Good visibility for seeing the animals. Not the best zoo I've been to, but still really good. Loved seeing the lions and giraffes.

Ofelia Gersjes

Really nice park. Perfect to bring your kids. You can also rent a bike to ride around the zoo with your family. We couldn't see all the animal, but perhaps they are not there until it gets warmer.

Chanel Fowler

Went here with my granddaughter and her fiancé and 3 great grandchildren there was so much to see and the kids had a lot of fun

Brittney Leclerc

The new entrance is really nice. It is a beautiful area to walk and see the animals. You can rent a bike to ride around in the zoo which we didn't do but looked really fun. The food they serve is mediocre at best and over priced but you can bring your own food and have a great picnic. Lots of spots to have a picnic! A few empty exhibits, no shows at all, no reptile area open. The train ride is a lot of fun for the little ones and informative. The employees I interacted with were all very friendly.

Sheldon B

Washrooms are very slippery because on the floor very wet due to water and no keep any yellow caution sign board here.

David B

Amazing as always loads of fun...great workout for your legs on those bikes

Jennybeans2010

Great zoo to see many different animals

Blake Carstensen

Recently renovated areas, well kept roadways, dinosaur exhibitions, not too many closed exhibits. Much better than in previous years.

La Vitta E Bella

It was a beautiful walk and staff was kind. I think it was maybe later in the day for animals but we arrived at about 4:30pm and there was like two elk and some ostrich that's about all we saw quite a small zoo and not many animals around at the time but the layout was really pretty.

Scott Spitters

I love this place but there needs to be more enforcement for social distancing and people actually following the ONE WAY rules. There was clearly way way way too many people here today too on March 27th. Literally dozens of people within inches from eachother, crowding areas. Not moving so you have to go around them. Then you get smooth brained retards who don't follow the rules going the wrong way around the park so they pass face to face every single other person.

Chelsea McKenzie

Great outdoor space with lots of room for social distancing. One time admission is $$$ but the annual pass is a great option. Just wish the train rides were a bit less expensive.

Parminder Singh

There are more animals then I thought there and each animal had a HUGE enclosure so it feels like the animals are actually happy there. The staff feel very passionate about the animals. The downside on a large enclosure is that you will be trying to spot one lynx in a basketball court size habitat and you might not be able to see every animal in one visit just because the animals r naturally hiding somewhere all the time. Saw that they are expanding a rainforest exhibition area and also renovating the entrance. Very excited about that and will visit again once that is finished.

Erin Joy Turkington

Our family loves the zoo! It has great wide-open spaces that are perfect for riding bikes or scooters, the animals are usually active and easy to spot, the staff is friendly and helpful, and they share great information about the animals with us on every visit. It is always clean and very well maintained. The playground is great too. If you live in even relatively close proximity, the membership pass is well worth the investment. The only downside is that the train ride is expensive, and is no longer included in the membership. Overall, though, the cost-to-benefit ratio is very high in favour of benefit.

sian howard

Better than I thought! Lots of animals at a reasonable price. The Dinosaur exhibit was a hit! So was the playground right at the entrance

Goomba Goomba

It was ok... lacking something... animals were too far away to see. Some were close up. The animals did not seem interested in the fact we were there. I thought they would be more engaging. They have certain shows at certain times not bad. Best thing was the train ride. 2nd best actually. Rent the bikes instead and do your own thing. Do nt have to wait for the train. Traveling from south van to Langley was not worth it. Worst thing that made me was you had to pay for parking.

Raskhan Photography

We had an amazing day in the zoo. The kids loved the animals. Get ready for long walk and enjoy the view????

Kylie Uittenbosch

Great for moms and kids. Clean and well maintained. We've been to lots of zoos and we give this one 5 starts for what it is.

Debbie

Waste of money going to this place way to expensive and really not much to see .This place looks like a disaster so dirty seems no one takes care of the animals and this place.Half of the area is closed for construction and not able to see lot of the animals .

Tanny Sachdeva

Just one time visit trying I will say, it’s fun just need 2-3 hours of your day.

Shruti S. Kulkarni

I do not recommend to visit Vancouver Zoo. I liked Calgary Zoo better than this and Vancouver Aquarium. All the animals were looking dull and weak and we did not get to see most of animals during our visit.

Helena Wolf

Good but they don’t have any elephants ???? or horses ???? or monkeys ????

Valentin Sanchez

Hated it. Regret paying to go. The animals DO NOT look well taken care of. It's extremely over priced for what it is. I went 10 years ago and again a month ago and it looks exactly the same... Rundown. Huge disappointment and also you have to pay for parking on top of it all. Save your money! Watch the documentries about these animals in their natural homes and go visit a farm instead.

Richard Lin

Nice place for kids/family to spend half a day.

Anastasiia Evstropova

I was surprised to see a lot of predators in the zoo. There are different types of big cats, bears, a crocodile and wolfs. However, it seemed to me that some animals had smaller territory than they need.

Simrat Sidhu

Parking is $8. Bike rentals that can carry two adults and toddler in middle are available for $20 an hour. This can be popular and you will be waitlisted for a call to come back to pick up the bike when someone returns theirs. Train ride is $6. This cam also be popular and sold out. Train leaves on time and they will try to put you on the next available if possible. Ice cream available next to gift shop not the Safari Grill.

Simrat Sidhu

We are now regular members. Kids love it. Well managed. Lots of wide path ways with lots of bikes and scooters, which is encouraged. Have great new sittings on every visit. Would absolutely recommend for Vancouver families. They are upgrading the facilities, enclosures and introducing new animals on an ongoing basis. Today's excitement, we saw the new snow leopards and Theo the rhino. Such fun.

Branimir Mecava

Very nice place to take kids out. Decent walk with paved roads. Lots of room to do picnic. Kids love coming there so we buy yearly pass. Pass includes free parking and pays itself off in just 3 visits.

Virtual Universe

This is a zoo has many attractions and animals. I will recommend.

kawaljit mahal

Vancouver zoo is very good .you can find mostly animals and lots birds .very good and fun place for kids.big park for kids to play train entertainment is also there.

Curtis Fortin

I really enjoyed taking my niece here. My family and I had a great day. We just wish we could have seen some more animals lol. A lot were hiding.

Juicy Kreme

The zoo was great for half day visit and some unique animals It took us 3 hours to walk and visit all part of the zoo There are many playgrounds for kids, gift shops and of course food and drinks

Ms. Fancy

Phenomenal staff. Beautiful animals. Well kept place. Great for families

David OS

Lots of new changes. Now have dinosaurs

Daehyun Kim

They have wheelchairs and kid wagons you can rent

matthew lydynuik

Completely forgot how wonderful this zoo is it’s an amazing Sunday day activity. Always remember loving coming here when I was a kid highly recommend as a family/ date activity. Takes about 2-4 hours to walk around the entire zoo. You can rent bicycles as well. Highly recommend coming in early morning when it’s still more cool out and less busy.

Gale Frost

Honestly it really doesn't worth traveling that long and paying 30 $ per adult... there are not alot of animals and fun...

Wei x

Taking a toddler there was enough to keep him interested...better than expected having read the reviews online we almost got to see all the animals in there areas and the baby grizzlies were a treat to see. Good signage for social distancing and facilities for bathroom and hand sanitizing. Only complaint is playground isnt very toddler friendly be advised parents should keep an eye on their toddlers while in the playground. Would definitely go again nice to spend the day.

Rob Wight

Always a fun time there...a few empty exhibits and a few closed due to construction...but nice to see new features. One thing I was looking forward to was the monkeys that used to be at the front....its not there anymore....does anyone know why?

Kris Lucas

A nice place for families to spend a weekend. Also a great place to picnic, bike, and playgrounds, bouncy for kids. Animal enclosures are generously spread out. The cafe offers burgers, corn dogs, cinnamon donuts. You can find a few pop vending machines around. Train ride and keepers talk are a go to. Overall, the zoo could use some updating.

plush bear

I was pleasantly surprised to see upon my most recent visit that the zoo has been improving, slightly anyways. Some cramped exhibits have been removed and there seems to be renovations going on in others. While the zookeepers I interacted with were all passionate and knowledgeable, the zoo definitely still has work to do. The exhibits lacked proper enrichment, the aviaries are terribly cramped, and several of the animals exhibit unhealthy repetitive behaviors.

Mark Lastiwka

We were lucky to be able to go into the panda exhibit and be right with the red pandas it was amazing expérience

Wilson Wong

That was a great experience for my family. Our 2 years old girl enjoyed seeing animals in real world. We went on a weekday afternoon. It wasn’t very busy. Lots of parking, no line ups, no crowds. You can bring your bike, stroller, kick scooter etc. Also wheelchairs wouldn’t have any problem moving around.

Walid Wahba

I DON'T RECOMMEND TO SPEND THAT MUCH ADMISSION FEE AND YOUR TIME TO VISIT THIS PLACE WHERE CALLED GREATER VANCOUVER ZOO. Not organised, not enough animals, too expensive in compare to what you expect to see in a zoo. We went to a animal farm in north Vancouver, with less admission fee, but we enjoyed pretty much than this zoo !

AmandA Koopa

We went early as they first opened so all of the animals were waking up and strolling around, it wad a very nice place!

Cynthia Benedict

Timed it out great with the shows. Bird show was fun, lion feeding too. Pack snacks if you're bringing kids. There is food there but it's much like what you'd find at a ballpark.

Alexandra Siagris

Where to even start? This place is the curry to my rice, the humus to my naan, and the chicken to my tikka; in my eyes, everything here is perfect. Upon first entry, I was flabbergasted by the craftmanship diluted through the front gate. The quartz colored and wood infrastructure of said masterpiece seemed to be measured and built for utter prestige and royalty. To add, all degrees of modern technology known to human kind could be felt at the turnstiles; I was amazed by the lightspeed responsiveness of the ticket scanner and its ergonomic design. It truly felt like the future when I majestically strolled through it. Now, on to the actual exhibit itself. As I am an avid Jurassic Park enthusiast, the Dinosaurs allowed me feel as I was in the actual movie; YES, me, Aneesh Kumar. At certain times, it felt so surreal that it brought tears to my eyes how much effort that may have been put in to this project. In addition, I believe that when aliens come visit Earth, they would be awestruck when they visit said exhibit. As for the animals, it felt like I was in the breath of the wild; the physical barriers between the animals and I felt as if no longer. There is nothing more to say other than that the animals are well kept and attractive to the eye. How can I forget the food here? I clearly remember that it was a hot summers day and I had forgot to bring a beverage along with me. After a 2 hour stroll around the zoo, my mouth yearned for water. However, when I landed back to the concession I remember the ice cool dew of the Powerade bottle quickly clenched my thirst. After said, I enjoyed my poutine that tasted on levels that could be compared to a 3 star Michelin restaurant. In addition to that, it costed only 9 dollars. Lastly, lets talk about the staff here. It did not take long until I realized that the staff here were stellar at their jobs and treated the guests as if they were family; this was is my best guest service experience. Notably, two staff under the name of Michael and Anthony caught my attention. While on my stroll, they gave me a guide and all the information I needed to maximize my experience here as a guest. To conclude, if I had to visit one attraction for the rest of my life, it would be the Greater Vancouver Zoo. I love this place very much, thankyou.

Phil Lawrence

I have a membership of this zoo. My children always love to go. The cafeteria staffs are always friendly, the food price and quality is reasonable. The playground area also nice. I always spend good 2 hour there. But more than 2 hour is boring????

Zhi Li

I'm not exactly a fan of locked up animals but thought since it's down the road I would check it out. The reviews weren't so great but I had a free ticket. The bird show was the best part of the day, so many exhibits were closed/empty. When I started to count them I got to 11 exhibits that were either closed (no sign) or just empty, I only counted the ones I was able to completely view as empty. The bears were nowhere to be found but they could have been in an unseen part of their habitat. The food was decently priced but you might want to stay away from that area if you have a problem with Bees. At $6 for parking it's not as bad as it could be, ticket prices seemed normal but considering how many empty exhibits there were I wouldn't go back.

Markpaul Chohan

It's a very nice zoo, there is a good variety of animals. Gate entertainment fee is not bad. But the quad bike rental is overpriced. There are different shows, my favourite was seeing the lions getting fed. The train ride is a must, the narrator explains a lot about the animals.

Kevin Chellew (Chewy)

Worst zoo I've ever been too. Like everything else in the lower mainland, it caters to the outdoorsy people who like to ride bikes even in a zoo. Which I find appalling. Animals are nowhere to be seen and overall poor infrastructure in and around the zoo, which at this point doesn't surprise me. Given that poor infrastructure and planning is a trend set across every city in the lower mainland. Why should the region's zoo be any different?

Dumesh Chanaka

Not that much great place to visit. Animals look sick. Atmosphere is not good.

Mohammad Thaher

It can be improved, we didnt see alot of animals.. Most of the animals were far so we couldn't see them properly

Joshua Adam

Such an amazing opportunity to learn just how awesome the animals on our planet really are! The staff were very knowledgeable both during their creature talks and throughout the park. I am looking forward to going back again soon!

shawn longia

Getting better but still struggling with the basics. Saturday in summer with a huge line up and only one ticket window out of 3 open. Been a member for years but can’t renew online so you are punished with a one hour wait - ‘we don’t have enough staff right now to open more windows.’ Tip of the day - you’ll sell more $240 family memberships if you hire more part time staff. Come on GV Zoo - you are on the right track but go the final mile and become a legitimate top tier Vancouver attraction. *Update - membership card printing machine wasn’t working when got to the front of the line!

Cameron Wilson

Great day for a walk to see some wild beasts.

Terri Wright

We went to the zoo for the first time today, and it was good! Although I have just read that the moose had died and didn't look so well, I do not blame the zoo as I did research and most establishments do not even consider to take the animals as they do not do well in captivity. They develop chronic wasting syndrome and prematurely pass away ????. They are highly sensitive creatures and we do not know the story on how it came to the zoo in the first place. The only reason I give 4 stars, is because of the loud obnoxious family on scooters that chased the animals away while I was trying to show my toddler. I dont feel that it was good for the animals and the possible anxiety it may have caused them. I look forward on supporting the zoo and animals in the future. It was a great Saturday walk.

Rhythm Recall

Looks like all the money has gone into the front entrance that really doesn't make a difference ...Animals were very lethargic and obviously tired of being yelled at all day by people so they mostly stay away.( can't blame them) Last time I went here was about 15 years ago... not sure on the background of the animals but bears and eagles... deers?!? Really ... if you want to see Eagles head to the dump instead of a net cage these beautiful creatures can't fly in and take a look around you'll see a deer or two. .. huge thumbs down . I'm good for another 15 years

Calvin Romeyn

Best get away for summer! Can spend one quality day! But lion show and all other feeding shows like bear, cougar , radical raptors are the highlights. We went on the beautiful small train ride. My son loved it very interesting and you get to see the whole park if you have missed some parts during your walk. Just for fun we did some bike ride too. We enjoyed it and my son enjoyed ringing the bell. The repetail section was great too. Food in the restaurant is so fresh and really good number of options!

Terry Greatsly

Drove there but the weather wasn't that great. After seeing you have to pay for parking, that made the decision easy, why on EARTH would you have to pay for parking for something located in agricultural land when there is nothing around there. They should simply say "Parking for Zoo Only - all others towed". We might come back but we headed to the Vancouver Aquarium instead and didn't regret the decision.

T Nguyen

Great educational value. Good for kids and time with family. Train ($5/pers) and bike (2 adults 2 toddlers $18) rides are must-try. Admission a bit pricy but care for the animals and habitat is no doubt costly. It'd be expensive many times over if this local facility is no longer here and ppl would have to pay for air fare or gas for a long drive to another place.

Rohit Chhabria

The new Dinosaur exhibit was great!

Shawna Seeling

We love coming to the zoo. It's a beautiful walk along the paths, with many animals to see. Great place for kids of all ages. There are bike cars you can rent for a ride around the park, a really cool playground the kids love, birds of prey show to learn about the hawks, owls etc, and you can get your picture taken while holding a wild bird. We got to hold an owl. My son loves it and we go quite often now so he can see the lions and bears. 4 stars only because it's already quite pricey to enter the park but you also have to pay for parking.

Layla Gilleland

We rode a shuttle type bike. It was lots of fun. Girrafes were amazing to see

Shaf Hassan

We really enjoyed the zoo this year with the dinosaur attractions. Lots of animals were out and came up to fences so that was really exciting for the kids. I suggest buying ur tickets online first to avoid lines and get there early it gets hot.

Dan McIntyre

The Vancouver Zoo is a magical place! Not a big tourist destination, tons of animals with large spaces to roam, beautiful walk through, well kept but not super fancy. Such a a great place to learn about animals, interactive, not crowded, quaint, amazing, comfortable and interactive. Great keepers! Awesome animals!

Sylvia Yu

Real Canadian zoo! Love the landscape and feeling how happy those animals are! Love it!

Alexandra Siagris

The zoo is one of our favourite places. My husband and I have annual passes and we will continue to get them unless we move out of the area. We go for a walk as often as possible and love to see the different animals. Now that we have a baby, we love showing her our favourites. She loves the ostriches and giraffes the most right now.

Lisa Xu

Fun family trip! Most enclosures seem large enough for each animal who all seems pretty happy and healthy :)

Andy Thornhill

Been to zoos all up and down the west coast. This is definitely a zoo, but it’s more of a giant field with fenced off sections. Many animals not visible. Lots of walking on roads not trails. Most likely better to bike through than walk. Definitely not a touristy kinda zoo.

LeeLee Marashi

Nice place, but we couldn't see all the animals + no so much animals.. clean, no bad smell, price is fair, staff are friendly.. you will pay for the parking..

Mir Kazim Ali Tabrez

It was so great going to the Greater Vancouver Zoo.❤️ Love all the animals there and getting fun interest facts and ideas about each animals. Great food along the walk. I will definitely be going back in the future.

Scott Spitters

Good value for the seasons pass. Love going there with the nieces and nephews. Entertaining and informative keepers as well.

Darren Wou

it's ok for what it is. not amazing, but there's no better option around. worth a visit once every couple years for the kids.

Esther B

Even tho some things weren't going it was still a wonderful experience.

E N

Very small compared to the Toronto Zoo which I’m used to as I just moved to BC from ON. However it’s extremely well priced and a wonderful walk. I plan to get a seasons pass next year so that I can go for some more interesting walks on weekends. It’s laid out in a way that allows some unique and up close experiences with some of the animals.

Joe Kan

It was great! Although there were sheep everywhere this year. Thankfully they're afraid of humans, so they generally just leave their medical grade droppings all over the park, and panic before running away if you step within 6 feet of them!

Neeraj Thakur

It's been a pleasant experience. Kids enjoyed a lot specially in Dino park.

Arkanism

Please don’t come its empty only some animals

Joshua M

Went on weekend. The entrance area is new with gift shop, guest services and bathrooms. Overall Vancouver Zoo has really improved over the past couple years and it looks like there is updating to enclosures and more amenities as we visited. Solid 4 rating. By next year hopefully a 5.

R J

Surprisingly good assortment of animals. Still a lot of pens empty or in renovation.

Todd Dm

Lots of fun with the family! I loved the Cheetah. And the raptor show.

Liliana Lau

Its not a very big zoo.We took around 3 hours to visit all exhibits. You can take your bikes in there or you can rent a bike or just walk around. There is a fun playground for kids. While you enjoy your coffee at the cafeteria, the kids can play in the playground. A fun place to spend a day with kids.

Garry Cargo

T'was a great family experience but would have been best if we had a chance to see the cheetah, it was absent also in the second try we stop in ira station

Alexis S (Curiositydinosaur)

Yes

Roxy Urbi

a bit pricey the animals were all hiding as it was hot saw maybe six in the whole zoo. train ride cost extra the bike extra and had to pay for parking , not very interactive for the children but the dinosaurs park made it up

Leona Suprun

Lots of animals to see and the facilities are being renovated.

ian z

Great zoo to bring the kids. Love that you are allowed to bring bikes and scooter. Nice playground/picnic areas and lots of parking. They try to change things around like the Dino exhibit, worth the annual membership.

Syeda Sahar Abbas

Extremely pricey and very less animals were there, most of the cages were empty.. kids were actually disappointed and it was not as great as we expected

Tyler Friesen

Okay but not up to standard for a City the size of Vancouver. Calgary and Edmonton zoo have much better facilities

Kon H. Song

Not the best zoo experience for me, but kids loved it.

Upasana Kapur

Our once a year trip to the zoo is always fun. It's great to see some much needed renovations and upgrades to the guest experience. Maintenance could still be better as there are signs and enclosures that look a little worse for wear. Also at over $100 for my family to go it is very expensive and starting to price itself out of many families budgets.

veronica b

Went there couple of times. Love this place and renovation looks great too. Main thing is animals looked healthy. It’s good to buy tickets online rather than waiting in a queue. Excellent experience DEFINITELY RECOMMEND :))

Matt Zhang

Was a pretty awesome time ! Clean and very friendly zoo with great staff , could use an update to pull it out of the current 1990s look but it's still pretty fun here!

Mark

A bit out of the way down the highway out of Vancouver so if you're staying there and looking for a day trip be aware it's at least an hour out of the tricity area let alone downtown. Plenty of parking and lots of it was free when we arrived although this was midweek. Great variety of animals that are accessible and easy to observe. There were a few cases where the exhibits appeared too small or didn't provide enough shade by perhaps that's my masters in Zoology being overbearing. Some washrooms, a hot food vendor and snack/ice cream stands and a small gift shop. We'd recommend bringing a picnic and finding a nice spot to sit. Great for a few hours out with the family and relatively ok priced.

AC Hawkins

Lots if improvement in the grounds happening now and looking good! Lots of people but a good amount of space to view the exhibits.

Laureline Balzan

Great zoo to spend the afternoon for our family. However, most of the animals are sleeping. The park is quite big so I suggest bring a bike or something for the kids if you are bringing the kids. There’s a family bike rental there but for a pricey $20/hr. The food stall there are reasonably priced and with good portions. The park entrance is under renovation right now, so it’s a bit dusty and loud. Overall, we had a great time there and will definitely go back.

Andreas Lerch

We got here at 2:45, was hoping they would have a reduced rate as we only had an hour in the park. They didn’t and we decided to check it out anyway. With the day rate and parking it’s pretty expensive. However the park is quite nice inside. They have reasonably sized cages for the animals and they seem well taken care of. It would have been nice to see all of the animals however some were hiding. For the most part we were able to see some pretty neat animals. I think I would come back in the summer with more time, you can rent bikes or take a train around the park for extra. It’s a fair bit of walking if you don’t choose one of these options. Overall a fun day and a great way to see some beautiful animals up close!

Ngawang Yuthok

There are a lot animals and it's easy to see them because they don't have a lot of hiding places and their enclosures are small. My kids loved going through and seeing different animals. There is also a playground if your kids need to burn off a little steam. The reason I have 4 stars instead of 5 is because the food is overpriced and does not taste very good. An improvement in food would make this a perfect experience. For now, eat before you come so you don't need to eat here.

SB W

My favourite zoo EVER. The Mesozoic Adventure is awesome- the animatronic dinos very realistic. I have a pass for it but i moved away :/ gonna miss it!

Ameek Singh

Variety of animals and birds. Food experience for kids and adults to see all the exotic species in one place

Bhabesh Mukhopadhyay

It's a nice zoo. Little far from Vancouver and after Langley.

Aldus Wong

The Train's driver is amazing. But I missed the giraffes and monkeys. Maybe they are renewing the areas..?

Aldus Wong

AW

Great with kids, playground, picnic area and a little train ❤️

Rishin Chatterjee

Nice place for a picnic. Don't expect to see too many animals. Interactive shows closed due to pandemic. Good one time visit. I'm still out on whether it's worth the money and travel.

chris quinn

8$ all day parking, beside this all good there

Matthew Martin

This zoo is very dedicated to conservation and rescuing animals in need. There is a misconception that these animals would be better off in the wild but alot of them would not of survived if not for all the hard work and dedication this place has done. If you and your kids plan on visiting the zoo please have some respect for the animals by not taunting or harassing them, teach your kids how to respect animals instead of treating them like a sideshow.

Jessika Muir

A lovely day out with my granddaughter. Very well organised.

Rod and Gloria Humphries

Friendly staff. Must pay for parking.tram was not available

Anulka De Silva-Elliott

Better than expected Zoo for Vancouver. Parking is flat rate 8 dollars. The parking lot was about 80 percent full on a Saturday in July, which I would imagine is pretty much Prime time for the zoo. Bicycles are allowed inside! Short line up at the ticket booth. 30 dollars per adult. The animals were more active than I expected! I expected most of them to be hiding in the shade but that was not the case. You can see in my photos that the animals were walking right up to the fence or playing with each other. The grizzlies playing in the pond was definitely a spectacle. I think I would consider getting a membership and going multiple times a year if it wasn't so far from my home. Definitely worth visiting if you have never been.

priyanka thakur

My Sister adored it and I had a lot of fun too. The train ride was fun and the narrator was helpful. The arrows on the ground and the map helped too. We knew where we were and how to get to where we wanted to go no problem I loved the wolves and my sister wouldn't stop talking about the red pandas Over all? Worth the trip down from penticton and the money.

Denia Pas

I'm from the netherlands and when I was in vancouver I went to this zoo. To be honest we were a little bit scared that it would be a big disappointment after reading the reviews. But we had a fun couple of hours. Some animals are rescued. Other animals are born in the park. The animals have lots of space to walk around and they looked taken care of. I think the staff do their best, but there are definitely enough things that can be improved. The saddest thing was that some animals where alone and looked sad and bored. If we had a zoo in the netherlands in this condition it had been closed down immediately. Would I recommend it? If it was in better condition and the animals looked happier, definitely yes! But in this condition, no!

Lynn Pauls

Starting from parking lots, the lines and numbers are faded. Many of the animal slots were empty. Some of animals territory can be seen by one side only like if animals are sitting or roaming on the other side you can barely see them. I really feel pity for camels. It looked like their skin was peeling off. You can bring your own ride like cycle, tri or quad or you can rent them from inside $20 for one hour. But they don't have many. And the washrooms inside the zoo are pit stops (not cleaned).

ChristineMercedes

It's not worth the money, there is no variety of animals, we paid money to watching more trees!!!!, it looks more like a park than a zoo, I regret the money and the time which I have spent.

lee G

Admission overpriced, barely saw any animals up close. Some parts closed off but not told when entering. Unorganized and not one staff member around to interact(social distance) with or talk about animals. No shows, bird area closed and still was $30 in. Not impressed just a bunch of paths with cages. Bring binoculars if you want to go! Glad we had a BOGO free voucher.

Eric McElrevy

Great way to spend the day. Whether it is winter or summer

Redha Hes

Beautiful discovery with smiling staff and impressive animals especially the giraffe and hippopotamus.

Nicole Naseth

Loved it, the most animals I have seen up close when visiting this Zoo. The bear Cubs were super cute and playful.

Dana Powers

Thought it was fantastic. Can't believe it took 6 years to get here. Kids loved it. Well managed for social distancing. Staff all wearing masks, entire park disinfected several times in the time we where there. Train has plexiglass between each row and sanitized after each ride. Lots of wide path ways with lots of bikes and scooters, which is encouraged. Had some great sitings of the bears, lions and giraffe. Would absolutely recommend for Vancouver families. They are also in the process of upgrading the facilities.

Jules LaRue

It was the 1st time experience for me & my sons. We loved it. We were there for just under 4 hours and that wasn't enough time. We would have been there longer if we left our starting point to get here earlier, and also if we weren't pressed for time to attend another event.

Sarah S

Zoo is getting better and better as they invest more. Vancouver needs a high caliber zoo and hopefully this will eventually get there. If you're local, get the pass and go several times a year. We go even in the colder wetter months with bikes and scooters.

Mohit Chhibber

Definitely not like it used to be. Pricey for what was there. Animals looked sad and depressed actually. They need to entertain them and give them more room

Martin J.G.

Many animals missing.felt like half the site is empty..paid parking plus 30$entry..each..it should be advertised all sites empty ..at the entrance..0 star

Denaye Dorge

Nice open place to take the kids. Not a lot of animals and some of the pens are empty. The train is fun to take. The playground is a nice touch for kids. Food is a bit pricey, but that is normal for these kinds of attractions. Entry is $25/adult and $19/child with some family rates, but Science World membership gave us a 20% discount

Vikram S

It was really hot so most of the animals were not really moving around much or were inside. Can't fault them for the weather, though, all the enclosures look really open and free and that makes me happy to see. I still had fun with my family.

Matthew Laws

Nice place to spend an weekend's day with entire family. They have a charming old-fashioned traine ride that kids love a lot! Animals are well taken care off. Some of the animals are difficult to see the to a bit strange arrangement of viewing places.

Suneesha Arora

Expensive for what it is, especially the parking. 5 different enclosures with 'Nothing in this exhibit' signs and due to it being cold, lots of animals were inside and couldn't be viewed.

Mikael Harvey

Loved the zoo, amazing animals and great conservation efforts by them. It took us around three hours to see all the animals.

Sarah Le

Great experience to include as part of our home schooling of our kids. The animals all looked healthy and it wasn't very busy when we went. We brought scooters which was a nice way to get around.

aman sidhu

Okayish experience as I went on a sunny day and there were not many animals but the dinosaurs park is must watch

Melody Watkins

Always love coming here. Have a seasons pass. Wished I lived closer as I would come just for the walk a lot more often!

Fraser Valley Channel

Nice zoo.

Johnny Yeung

Good day trip for kids. Would recommend either renting their bicycles or pull cart - for families with toddlers. Decent cafeteria also - with basic burgers, hot dogs and coffee!

Justin Havinga

Absolutely Disappointed. Have tried a total of 4 times over the last 3 years, and cannot believe how empty, expensive, and a waste of time this zoo is. Even with the New Dinosaur setup, it is a complete waste of money. For us a family of 4 it came to $160 including a train ride. Do Not Go. Do Not Waste Your Money. You will be Dissapointed. We have given up on this Zoo.

Chris Hatty

Pros.: The zoo is really well maintained. Tickets are just $30 for adults, $25 for students, and are affordable. Cafeteria inside zoo are great, but its not a must. You can carry your own food and water. Cons.: most of the Areas were blocked. Idk but the animals were not active. MOST IMPORTANTLY: PARKING is only available as whole day parking, what if someone only want to stay for 2 hours or 3 hours, why do we have to pay for full day parking. That is something to look at. Overall, it’s a Great place for your kids to have a nature’s touch. Also, fun place to have a small family picnic at. ????

Mircea Apopei

For a zoo, rather disappointing. Few animals. The good part was the twin bicicle which gave us quite an exercise????

Bbellkka Bbellkka

I love this place - swimming and rolling bears, walking red panda, gorgeous lions, foxes ????

Rachel Cheung

A quite and green zoo, animals are lovely and workers are friendly.

Brooke Thurston

initially not impressed at how busy it was & how expensive it is & to make people pay for parking on top of it, crowded washrooms, very disappointing to see the port o potty full to the brim especially during covid times you can't even keep those clean, considering the amount you charge ,the least you could do is keep on top of the facilities ,the eagles look very sad & can't even fly in their space

Madison Cupello

Went there with cousins from out of town about 2 years ago and spent roughly $200 for entry hardly saw any animals. Gave it another shot yesterday with my 2 year old and the same thing, saw about 5 animals and the animals looked in very bad shape(especially the camels) will not be going ever again.

felicia cross

A few too many empty exhibits, but overall a very pleasant zoo.

Hailey Moran

Cool small zoo. It took us about 70 minutes to see it all.

NeonRain240

Parking said 8$ a day but the online option over charges. Most people were not social distancing in the zoo, and masks weren’t mandatory. Playground was open and very busy. Directions for one way path ways were confusing to many people, and some times walking opposite direction of the one way was the only option to leave. Plenty of washrooms, most of the animals were visible and there was a shady spot near the bears to have a snack and watch the train (which was running by reservation).

Theresa tt

Good food nice environment lots for the kids to see and to top it off you don't have to wear a mask!!!!! Yay!!!!! Only in the gift shop.

Filipe Oliveira

Amazing place for kids and adults. You can rent bikes and a quadricycle, you can do a guided tour in a mini train, it's an amazing place to spend 2-4hrs in a weekend.

Julia

The animals look sad and unkempt. Overpriced as well. Great if you have kids but otherwise not worth it.

Taylor Douma

It was a unbelievable experience seeing all the animals, so cute, we were walking for a while taking a little break but that feeling didn't let us stop, we took lot of pictures so I can share, so anyone wants to visit the Zoo have the same experience I got, enjoy it.

Mateen Pawand

The area is quite large but not many animals.

Derek Hynes

This zoo is really fun. There are free bird shows a few times a day. There are animal feedings (depending on which day you go). There is a short train ride that doesn't cost a lot and the kids love it. The staff are friendly and can answer a lot of your questions. There are signs posted with lots of information about the animals. Most of the animals are rescue animals, some were born in captivity. You can bike or walk, kids can use bikes or scooters too. It's a fun environment. Bring your walking shoes.

Anthony Glazebrook

The animals in general seem to be in largish cages / areas and appear well looked after. The store and washrooms really need some updating and were a little outdated and run down. We took my daughter's bike so it made for a nice ride with some interesting things to look at. Picnic area was nice but only portable toilets at that point. Staff were few and far between (in fairness it was a Monday morning!)

Chenliang Zhang

Two more new animals were in the zoo sice last time visited, north american badger and cougar. We've seen the most animals this time. Not sleeping much. But no show, no train, still too cold, and some snows still on the track.

K. Dub

Decent we came obviously when they are starting to upgrade they have birds of prey. Hippo shows and a variety of other animals. Hopefully the renovations make it more accommodating and appealing. It is worth the money at 25 bucks for two adults if you can find that discount. Great place to bring kids and have an experience nature.

Darian Kovacs

So many amazing animals. Great updates and upgrades.

Celestial F

Oh man it was great. The giraffe came up to the fence and stuck its head right over and tried to eat my hand. I didn't know it was a petting zoo. What a great experience

Lauren Penner

My daughter was actually loosing her mind about the dinosaur exhibit the zoo has going right now. She's obsessed with them at the moment. If you have a child who loves dinosaurs definitley don't miss this!

Philip Law

My grand daughter loves it!

Tim Nolan

Is not a big Zoo, but my family and I spent a great time there!!

NeoSupergirl

Variety of animals and birds. Food experience for kids and adults to see all the exotic species in one place

Michelle Thomas

A glorified farm. Not many animals there although you can get really close to a tiger and lions.

Kayla

It’s definitely a nice walk going through and seeing all of the exhibits, but overall for the price of entry not the most worthwhile place I’ve visited

chrisis1033

Given our poor climate in British Columbia, I am surprised we have this many types of animals at our zoo! I have been to zoo's across North America where most animals could not be seen at all. Have never encountered that here. Also the food was delicious! Fries were well done and not oily at all. Chicken strips were cooked well. They do a good job with the food here, I am happy for that!

jon mullaly

We were able to see almost all of the animals! The tigers were away from the heat. The staff very friendly and it was a very enjoyable walk! The dinosaurs are something kids should see! I was impressed!! A great way to spend the afternoon ????

Misty Ackles

So many animals, a train to ride, stands to eat at and a park to play with kids. They even have over-night camp outs in the summer!!!

hossein hesamifard

Absolutely It is a wonderful zoo if we ignore some issues such as: You have to over pass some route to be able to see all animals The paper map is not available so you should always search for signs :( For Some animals you can not see them cause the cage land is so big.

Alan Cabrera

The zoo was great!! My kiddo had a lot of fun... lots of great animals to see there... due to covis there qere less people qhich was actually great!! But yet it was busy.. we had a bike rental and the wait was for over an hour... we thought it wld be fun.. but we were already too tired of the walking... the bike made us even more tired!! So be prepared for a lot of walking and tiredness. You do need a full day to.explore this place.. i still believe we have missed a lot of it because of the hot weather and too much walking and biking. Still a great place to learn and enjoy for kids!

Rebecca Vanderhorst

The zoo is a great place to spend a few hours. Bring your own bikes and food - rentals are pricey and the concessions aren't that great. There's lots of walking because the enclosures are so big. Price for admission is quite high. It may be worth it to get the annual pass if you live in the area. The train is a great idea if you have younger kids or people with mobility issues.

Huiyang Xu

Really nice park. Perfect to bring your kids. You can also rent a bike to ride around the zoo with your family. We couldn't see all the animal, but perhaps they are not there until it gets warmer.

Heath Robertson

Imagine being half way through the year 2021, on the tail end of a worldwide viral pandemic where businesses have shuttered and tourism declined due to restrictions, and where people have lost their jobs with a reluctance to go into more credit debit. Now imagine not allowing the use of Visa Debit (not credit) for online purchases of tickets. Far out guys - I have money, I want to give you my money, do you even want my money?

Andy Lumb

The zoo is a bit small compared to the other zoos in Toronto or the States, but it’s the only zoo that kids can go to in greater Vancouver area. In 2021, I’m glad to see they’ve created a new area for more animals that they brought in recently and they also built a dinosaur park that kids would love to visit. The entrance, gift shop and washrooms are newly built and we’re impressed by the efforts that have been made. Also they built a brand new playground just by the train station. It gets a little busy around noon but if you’re concerned about COVID you could avoid going to that area. Bring your bike or scooter or trolley because usually it takes you about 1-1.5 hour to walk through the entire loop. The train ride takes about 10 minutes and kids love it. Just purchase the ticket in the train station and you could select the time you’d like to ride on. Come early in the weekend otherwise the lineup could be long at the entrance, and the shady spots in the parking lots have been taken.

The Kangz

Really nice place, good for a walk and to spend some time with nature. If you go early in the morning is pretty quiet so you can relax listening birds chirping. Zoo is old, need renovation and more investment, however animals are treat really well, and most of them are rescued if they’re were not there they could not survive in the wilderness. Great staff!!

Michael Iveson

WOW! This was our 3rd time coming. The first 2 were before the renovation. Today was amazing! The renovations change the whole ambience and makes you feel like you’re on a theme park. We came on a Monday afternoon (1:30pm) and All the animals were out. We had such an amazing time and the food is not expensive so that’s another plus. For $34 we had chicken strips with large fries, 2 hot dogs, 1 jumbo hot dog, 1 slushie and 1 ice cream bar.

It was good time for family trip. It was fun yelling at the protesters. Not the best zoo in Canada but they are doing good things. You going only helps provide them with medicine and food :)

Jamie Haakons

Amazing experience for our 2 year old. Massive upgrades really make it more enjoyable for the animals and the guests

Marina B

Family place, spend 3-4 hours here. Parking fee is $6 and we got the cycle( family of 3 with 9 yr old daughter). Fun stuff and the animals are kept well and cared for. Take a picnic with you and cycles are also allowed. Plus there is a nice park to sit and relax in. Eatables available although at a premium.

Muhammad Khan

The zoo shows obvious age in it's signage, structures, and buildings. But the charm is still there. The enclosures varied in size, and at no point was I too concerned that the enclosure was too small to house the animal comfortably - except the ostriches, I'm on the fence about them. Costs to be aware of: Parking for the day is $6, and a student over the age of 16 with ID is $23, so it can be pricey. If you think of how much they need to maintain it though, it's worth it. We happened to go on World Lion Day, and they decorated a cardboard box for the lions to rip up, which was a wonderful enrichment item. They have talks throughout the day about various animals. Come on a cloudier or cooler day, otherwise a lot of the animals are hiding from the sun. Bring sunscreen just in case, a bottle of water, and a good pair of walking shoes. You can rent a quadracyle for $18 an hour, it fits two adults and probably three kids. It can't go everywhere in the park, but we parked our cart to the side of the enclosure and didn't have any incidents.

Yi Bao

Lots of fun for kids. Various animals.

Jason -Gin- Cheng

Much more inviting with the updates.

Alré Thomas

Not bad, had a good time with family, I like all the picnic areas and the staff was very friendly. Couldn't see any cheetahs but they have beautiful lions.

AT TV

Great place to bring your children to learn from the animals.

Jim Hatch

Excellent place for the family. social distancing is possible at this spacious zoo. Was able to see the lions, tigers, cougars, black bears, grizzly and other animals. There’s a playground, gift shop and big picnic area. If you plan on visiting the zoo more than twice a year the annual pass is worth as it covers annual parking too.

RICKI SIDHU

Good but can be better. I visited with my family and another family. We had a good time in the Zoo. It is not very big as we took about 3 hrs to walk leisurely around the park with decent stops at almost all of the exhibits. The train is a short ride of about 12 mins that takes you around the park. We paid 6$ per person (aged 3 & above). The driver of the train was fun and did give a good live commentary about the exhibits. Now coming to the most important part, the exhibits, the animal collection is small compared to some other Zoos I have been to but is decent. Also, I think the experiences such as butterfly, bird enclosures or amphibious animals can be added. That being said, the Mesozoic exhibit with animatronic dinosaurs is really good. So, don’t miss it ????

felicia cross

Lots of animals great experience overall just good atmosphere

Greek Squad

Went 3 times, spacious outdoor zoo, great for children on bikes, great for children on bikes , Covidsafe, - much improved animal conditions from what I understand, with many endangered species, many have much green space to roam & privacy & natural surrounds including a river (if lions, tiger, jaguars & cheeta had bigger enclosures I would give 5stars) season pass is good value if visiting 3x as it includes zoo parking that is otherwise flat rate of $8 for all day, friendly staff - visiting on cold winter weekdays it’s quiet so you can often get 1-on-1 time close up with animals if lucky : grizzly & brown bears, lion, tiger, jaguar, grey wolf - we visited in winter so no train (train does a great circuit of the zoo) , quad bikes, or family bikes but robot dinosaurs are all working and worth a visit - educational signs are much better than most zoos and have interesting facts for children (and adults like me that previously thought a TRex could have eaten a stegosaurus) - I think the tiger & jaguar really want to eat the pot-belly pig who is next door to them

Thang Le

Nice place to go with kids. There are a lot of hand sanitizers and sinks for washing hands. The cafe is working, as well the gift shop and the train rides.

I love the Zoo. The greater Vancouver zoo is the best place to go. They have all sorts of cool animals that you normally wouldn't see in your lifetime. The price is the only issue that I would be bringing up. With that being said I would still recommend to anybody and everybody to go it's pretty to go check this place out. You can see the lions and Tigers eating right in front of you during snack time and and it's just amazing.. You can hear and feel the tiger and lion roar from your seat these things are huge. It really brings to reality What God has put on this Earth. It's it's just unbelievable seeing these things up close things up close and personal So when you go to the greater Vancouver zoo make sure you go during the feeding time for the lions and Tigers. That's the main attraction for sure but they also have other cool animals there like monkeys is East and awesome and ostriches and bears and I think they have a hippo still I'm not sure so don't "me on that . They used to have a giraffe too or a few of them I'm not sure if they still do so again don't "me on that but anyways this place is great go check it out let me know how it goes

m mull

This place is a must! It is Huge, so plan to spend a few hours here if you really want to take it all in !! The animals have really large areas to roam in, so sometimes you don't always get to see them as close up as you would like, but they all seemed happy and well cared for ! The website for the Zoo is really lacking, its strange to navigate and it doesn't really explain all that you can do there !! There are these cool 2 person, side by side pedal bikes that hold up to 5 people! (I am assuming it might be a separate entity from the Zoo and maybe that's why we didn't see it on their website). The bike rentals are near the entrance once you pay to get in to the Zoo. There was a waiting list for the bikes when we went to go check them out, so we added our name (they said 45 min wait, which was free to add our name to, so we did). 25 mins later they called us and said our bike was ready, so we ran back to claim it! It was 20$ for an hour, which I thought was well worth the experience. We saw them cleaning the bikes down thoroughly. There is also a Train ride you can go on! (To buy tickets they are just after entering the Zoo, or online). I would recommend the train, its informative, kids loved it, we enjoyed it and it was 15 mins for 6$ each, under 2 free, worth it! There is also a great park for the kids! (In my photos). There is a consession at the beginning of the Zoo, and washrooms. There is also an little ice cream store half way through the Zoo, by the bears.

tala rifai

Awesome place , has amazing and indangered animals , I loved how they gave the animals lots of space and they didn't look bored or depressed. I don't recommend going in the evening because they put the animals to sleep, loved it!

Shonda (Mood)

Had alot of fun showing my baby girl all the different animals. She loved it

Adrian Leong

Went there this past weekend, and I would have given this a 3 to 4 star review, but I saw the updates that they have been working on, and I was quite impressed! Good on the Zoo for making updates/upgrades. Typical to other zoos, a few of the animals were hiding out. So we maybe only caught about half the animals. But still, it was an OK family time.

Tim Austin

What a great time and awesome place to see all these animals.

Ken Chapin

Misleading advertising for frontline healthcare workers. My family decided to go to the zoo after reading the advertisement on their website that "free entry will be offered to healthcare workers." Apparently they are selective in the definition of what a frontline healthcare worker is. After producing photo IDs and a business card my wife and I were both denied the free admission even though we are both frontline healthcare workers. I personally have worked with COVID positive patients and many suspected cases and continue to work with an at risk population. With 3 kids on hand and having already paid for parking there was no reasonable way we were going to leave the park and so my wife and I both had to pay for admission (almost an extra $60 on what we thought we would be spending for the day). Staff at the admission gate was quite abrupt and rude in denying us the advertised free admission. Seems like yet another company promising all sorts of things for the COVID crisis to look good publicly but don't actually deliver. We won't be coming back. Just feels like we were ripped off.

Xuegang Wang

Kid love it, only for kids.

Rob F

Went on a Saturday and it was a sunny BUSY day. Friendly staff. Wait for train was 2 hours and wait to rent bicycle was 1.5 hours. I think this was the last busy Saturday of the season. Ice cream was not made with cream. Tasted unfamiliar but sweet.

Amelia

This is one of the best zoos I've ever been in my life. All the animals are beautiful, healthy and well maintained. All the facilities are also well maintained and the are always staff busy one way or another putting in work. It's a shame we didn't get to see the tiger, wolf and lion because they were sleeping. There is also an outdoor playground and bouncy slide for the kids. Word of caution for those considering renting the family bicycle - be prepared to burn some calories! Kudos to the staff and this is a star attraction!

ProPics Canada Media Ltd (ProPics Canada Media Ltd

Come here if you hate animals. Animals pacing back and forth due to lack of stimulation and small enclosures. Animals that normally lived in warm climates are forced to stay in the typically cool BC outdoor, not in climate controlled environment. Small and barren enclosures shows the lack of care and empathy for animals, that they need more than food and water to be healthy, physically and mentally. This zoo is profit driven and does not care to make the animals' better, check out San Diego or even Woodland Park Zoo in WA for examples of proper animal treatment. Visiting here will only make the animals suffer more

Joy Jung

Small, good for walk with children. Riding a train is a good experience and good idea to take a look at once.

Manuel C Rodriguez

Great for kids. You can bring their bikes and ride around the zoo.

Connor Giesbrecht

I really like the new entrance! Excited to see what other updates are done in the next year.

ZXEN G

Does not discriminate you don't need to show your papers please support them.

Bharat Shrestha

Most of the animals hide due to heat so not much to watch.

Emran Butt

Great experience at the GVZoo. Great staff and beautiful animals everywhere. I felt like the staff really enjoyed looking after each animals needs.

Crystal Bryan

I'd like to see a couple more signs and info per animal. When it's crazy busy and crowded, you dont want to stand in the sun with toddlers that long to read about it. More shaded picnic tables by the playground. Proper washrooms with running water to wash our hands at least at the halfway point of the park. At the front we were told kids 3 and under are free on the train so long as they sit in our lap. Yesterdays train register person, tried charging us for our 3yr old (even proved he was 3) stating its under 3... Sir, you may need a bit of retraining. Other than minor tweaks, kids had fun and so did the adults.

Brent Seungwook Kim

Good place with kids~^^

Amy Apfelbaum

Will always be a family favourite. We decided to rent the bike and it was fun!! Most of the animals were out and about which made it more entertaining for our four year old. We try to go once a year for his birthday so keeping it a tradition now :) Went early on a Sunday so we got good parking and food line up wasn’t insane. Can’t wait to come back!

Edyn Dougall

Great place! Better to go on rainy days when the animals are more active, and in the morning so the animals will be easier to see. My personal favorite are the lemurs and the giraffes, but there is plenty to explore at this zoo! Perfect for kids and adults alike, and a very reasonable price. The only concern is the transportation getting there can be lengthy. Always very kind customer service.

Tilahun Worku

I enjoy every aspect of this zoo. Food is good, activities are cool, train is fun, makes for a great day hike or BIKE, (bring you own or rent) and the dinosaur exhibit is awesome... Not sure who like this place more, myself or my nephew

Calvin Romeyn

Excellent atmosphere, and the animals are always well treated and happy. I hope they bring back the safari vans some day, those were the coolest!

William Hemrick

Well maintained park, marvelous selection of animals.

Michael Krochter

Good zoo in general. Good experience for a half a day with kids. Animals can be hard to spot sometimes as the areas where they keep them are quite big (which is a good thing for the animals). Giraffes, hippos, zebras are the best. You can walk or rent a "Bicycle Car" that fits 2 adults and 2 kids. They allow and encourage bringing your own bikes and wagon too. No electric powered kids cars though. Train ride is a must if you have kids, they love it (there is even a small tunnel train goes through). But you should get tickets before you go to look at the animals. We bought train tickets at 12 for 3:40 train, just to give you an idea of the wait time. Food court is in the open and right next to the play ground. Playground is older but still ok. Zoo has revamped the central entrance and updated the area around it: gift shop, washrooms, etc. Only paid parking - $8 a day, entrance tickets are not cheap either: adults pay $30, kids older than 3 and seniors over 65 get a discounted rate of $23.

Chris Hatty

Smaller zoo but still a great place to walk around and well kept. New dinosaur park greatly exceeded my expectations. Very cool.

Kylie Uittenbosch

Even tho some things weren't going it was still a wonderful experience.

Melissa Ward

A favourite for our family. A bit on the expensive side, but isn't bad considering admissions prices to other places. Parking is only $6 for the whole day We plan on getting a membership next year!

Alysha Clay

Had a great time here for my son's first birthday. Not to many people and almost everyone was going the right way following the directions and arrows on the ground.

Carlyle Wilde

This place was great on a Fall weekday. The animals were active and the staff were available to answer all of our questions. There is a lot to see so be prepared to walk or you can rent a quadracycle. Well worth the trip.

T Rockel

The animals seem well taken care of and clean. I do find a 15 dollar rental fee for a wheel chair a tad ridiculous mind you. Other then that it was an overall good experience

Jee Kay

The animals are lovely. I paid $5 extra to ride a train but it was less than adequate. The bathrooms are disgusting, the gift shop is outdated with $5 made in China stuff toys. The entrance is an old moter home with a 2×4 ramp structure and the signs are old and faded. I didn't take any pictures, don't want to fill up my phone with useless things.

Bruce Miller

A great place to stop and take a walk through. All the animals here are rescued. Last time I got to go, they had three young Grizzly bears. My only complaint was that the little restaurant only too cash, I do not usually carry cash, so I was unable to purchase a drink. Just a heads up, I will def bring change next time!

MaHmooD KhaN

Could be better and more enjoyable if the rates made more affordable

Hoss

I'm a firm believer wild animals should be just that 'wild'...that being said if you come here you can see that they do have large living spaces, they look like they're looked after and well fed. It also is a neat experience to see those animals you may never get to see in your life time if you can't travel to those exotic places. You can rent bikes that holds at least 4 people & peddle your way around at your pace, walk as we love to do. We spent a minimum 4 hours there & that's not including watching any of the activities. Park for kids with swings & such. Clean washrooms, concessions, souvenir shop...just a wonderful place!

Z Mahra

Pricy for family of 4 cost is $120 with parking. Would not go more than once a year. For family of 4 expect to spend 300 dollars for the day.

Y H

Animal looks very sad and angry. They don't deserve a life in a zoo like this one. Please don't support them.

E Z

Last minute birthday dinner for 4 adults and one child and we managed to snag the last big table. We were seated fast and drinks were ordered quickly. We were asked if there was a reason for our visit and said it was a birthday dinner and we were told that the restaurant would do something special for us. Appetizers and dinner were ordered and all the food came quickly. End of dinner and bill paid and nothing special. Please don't offer something if your not going to back it up. This is the only reason only 4 stars were given.

Kathy B

It's a great little zoo filled with an arrangement of different animals from all over the globe.

Katie Harvey

I purchased annual Zoo pass today for one year.parking is included in Zoo pass. Now visiting Zoo is least expensive for me I can visit the zoo unlimited time with kids now for one year.Happy????????????

David Rotenberg

Went in August and 70% of the animals are missing as they were running some renovations. This wasn’t mentioned on their website and they made us pay full price. It was a waste of money to go see bears, a deer and some raccoons. You don’t need to go to the zoo to see these animals. They’re everywhere across Vancouver! We emailed them after the visit and they didn’t even bother responding.

Ronald Syahril Ayub

It is written that closed Tues-Wed, not Sunday!!! You guys better have a good reason closed on Sunday 9th Jan 2022. Visited and closed without reason. Did not stated why it is closed. Maybe Covid or other reason? Do not know.

Michelle Jans

This zoo definitely needs some improvements. It's not worth the amount that you pay to visit. A family of four should not have to pay $90 to visit this zoo. On top of the entry fee, they charge $5/person to ride the train. The facility is starting to look run down, the washrooms (regular flush toilets, not the portapotties) were dirty and stinky, and quite a few of the areas that were supposed to have animals just had signs saying the exhibit is closed. They also charged $6 for parking in an empty parking lot, which was much too high for parking in this area. I think they need to take some tips from the Edmonton Zoo. It's a much nicer zoo and better experience for families with small children.

Kevin Loring

Good walk for an hour. Kids loved it, I did too.

Anmar Qasha

Super fun and nice stuff members My family and I Loved it

Babak Sadeghi

It was closed after 40 minutes of driving and it made my child very upset. They do not even announce their opening hours. It's really insulting.

Rhiannon Fraser

Renovations look great and love that kids can ride bikes

Stephen Ewaski

New renovations to the main entrance area are refreshing and awesome to see. Always a good way to spend a day

tomate 87 (marcottas87)

If you live close it’s worth buying a membership. Lots of exotic animals, a lot are rescues and the zoo does a lot of conservation work. It’s well maintained and they are currently doing renovations. There is a little train too that you can ride with your child (extra 6$) and all the booth are separated with plexiglass for covid. We’ve been every day this week my 17 months old and it was our first time and we had a great experience. We are told it got much better with new ownership. I recommend it. Adults and children can bring their bikes too.

Jennifer Kupsch

Love this place! We have been buying the annual pass (which is an amazing deal) for a few years now. Our kids absolutely love our visits to this beautiful park like setting. The improvements that are constantly being made, and the eco friendly efforts that the zoo is putting in place make us want to come back for more. This is more like a wildlife refuge versus a typical "zoo". I am not a fan of animals in captivity for our pleasure, but its not like that here. These guys are helping animals that would no longer have a fair chance in the wild, and in turn we get to bring our families to learn from and watch these animals grow and change in a safe cared for environment. Highly recommend!

I E

Kids had a great time. Loved the new dino park they added on. When I come back I'm definitely going to be getting one of the side by side bikes.

Danelle Klaassen

Beautiful experience. Went with my little bro and cousin and they loved it. Love the variety of animals and the train was great.

Zbynek Vyskovsky

Okayish experience as I went on a sunny day and there were not many animals but the dinosaurs park is must watch

KCT

It is not a zoo anymore, more like a park. Not much to see. We were quite disappointed...wish there are more different kind of species to see

Courtney Mury

One of the worst zoos I have visited. Most of the animals were not visible. Those visible were looking sad and depressed probably because they were alone without pair.

farid poursoltani

This place is a joke. Half of the exhibits are either closed or empty. The ones that are open, well, there are no animals in sight. The best thing about this zoo was the fake dinosaurs cause atleast they were there.

Roberta Keller

Ot’s not the best zoo ever but it totally worth the day!! We went in the end of winter, in a warm sunny day and many animals were not available due to cold weather. Suggest going during spring/summer!

Gale Frost

Fun experience some cool animals

Shiva Shankari

Had a blast ! 90% of the animals were out. As long as you get there right at opening you will have an abu dance of space

Shelly Chou

The animals don’t seem happy or energetic here. The ticket is quite pricey. Won’t come here for the second time.

Reyanna Nicolas (Reyanna)

This zoo is fantastic! My sister in-law is an influencer and we had the privilege of experiencing a behind the scenes, VIP tour and it was absolutely amazing. We received a guided tour by one of the zoo keepers, Rita, and got to go behind the scenes with 4 different animals - the Giraffe, Hippo, Red Pandas and bears. We were able to get very close to them, feed them and take some fantastic pictures. Even when we were just walking down the normal paths, it was extra special as all the animals know Rita's voice so they would come right up to the fence and follow us around as we were walking by. The lions and tiger in particular jumped up and came right next to the fence which was quite spectacular. The staff and the overall experience was exceptional. We've been to many zoo's including the Africa Safari in Ontario, Hawaii Zoo, and the Singapore Zoo and, as crazy as it sounds, I would say this is right on par with those three. I honestly had no idea we even had a zoo in Vancouver until I had my son a few years ago. We've only been here once before as just a regular visit and that was great too. Kids absolutely love it, from the animals to the train, to the playground! Now we got to experience a special package that included behind the scenes experiences with 4 different animals - I'm not sure this package is openly available to the public, but you can get packages with a behind the scene look with one of the animals of your choice. I would say this is very much worth the money, and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to do this again. It's a very memorable experience. They were all great, but I would probably choose the Giraffe or Hippos as you're able to get a little closer to them. Thank you Rita and the Greater Vancouver Zoo for the wonderful experience!

Eagle Eye

Kaveh Hajighazi

Good place. Lots of parking. Animals are difficult to see at times as the enclosures are big and covered with over grown vegetation. There are no unique animals at this zoo. There is alot of walking involved which is ok but after all the walk I could still not see the animals. The grizzly bear was not visible at all. The reptile section was great and there was a good variety but it was quit hot in there. I was not able to see the lynx. But overall it is a good experience for kids but not for adults.

Maria Chevalier

The zoo is a great place to go and we were fortunate enough to see a lot of the animals. Sometimes you can go and they are all hiding and sleeping. It will be nice once they have the train working again as well as the bike rentals. However, children are allowed to bring their bikes and scooters and I would recommend this because it is a large area to cover if you have short kid legs. I would love to see a bigger selection of food offering there...even a Triple O's would be good! The line up for the food was quite long and so I would recommend bringing some snacks for the kids in case they get grumpy in the line up, or when you are on the opposite site of the zoo from where the food is. The gift shop had nice things in it and resident peacock was super fun for the kids to follow around. There were probably about 5 empty animal exhibits when we went that are waiting for new animals to come. All in all a great day, and we enjoyed getting to watch the wolves get fed!

Lots of animals, food court and gift shops have great options for decent prices. Best time to see the animals is either earlier in the morning or later in the day.

Andrew Dearing

Kids love it. Always a treat for the whole familly

Barbara Beden-Hill

Small zoo, not fancy, but the enclosures are very large and the animals appear healthy and very relaxed.

Jackie W

I had an immensely enjoyable experience at the zoo. There were a wide variety of animals to see and I saw every one of them. It was a warm sunny day and that means we saw the exciting birds of prey raptor show and the hippo talk. The falcon was my fave. All the animals were napping in the sun, grazing and or playing. They looked very content and relaxed, especially the tigers, bears, lions and hippos. I loved the giraffe, which actually came right up to us and ate some leaves. I got some great photos but some of the big cats were too far away to take a photo and there was a fence in the way. It took us 3.5 hours to explore the zoo as a family of 6 on foot. You can rent these pedal carts or ride your bike down the gravel paths. The ground is completely flat and easy to negotiate for all ages. There are shows every hour or so and the staff are very friendly and enthusiastic. It's clear they are passionate about the animals. The enclosures are nice and big, giving all the animals plenty of natural habitat to roam around in. I didnt think anything looked dirty or poorly maintained as mentioned in the other reviews. It was very clean. The admission price was a good deal because we got the family pass. I wish we had purchased the annual membership because I definitely want to go back! My 4 yo daughter absolutely LOVED it and learned so much. There's also a big playground for kids as well as a concession stand, vivarium, small gift shop and picnic areas for snacks. There are only portapotties along the paths and one set of bathrooms near the entrance. Highly recommended for families! 5 star attraction!

Matt Wall

The animals seem to like to hide alot of the time

Rick M

I guess if you've never been to any other zoo in North America then you'll be ok with this place. However having been to multiple other zoos myself, this one ranks right at the bottom. From horrible enclosures to minimal animals, it's not that great. They spent more money on building a, new entrance than they did making the enclosures better for the animals.

Guillermo Garcia Sosa

Very beautiful site

Sophie Wu

Train ride is fun but if you rent family bicycle you can stop where you want and don't have to walk. Some animals were hiding probably from the heat.

Delverofsouls

The staff are amazing and very helpful. The.grounds are very well kept. The animals are great and my two boys love it there. Would recommend going either by yourself or with a group whatever your situation is the zoo is amazing and a great way to get outside.

Bhoomika

Strange service and stoic staff! No clarity about whether the parking is paid or not, and having done our due diligence of paying parking fee, all we got was the “Help-yourself” attitude!?!?

Amelia Featherstone

Best day of my life ????????

Shabbir Fakhri

Nice place to be. Not easy to find animals though. Feel like a park with some animals. Also, social distancing is concerning for this time.

nicole miner

We got the full experience this time. We rode on the train, met the reptiles, lions. Tigers and raptors. We brought food and had a picnic on the grass near then entrance. We went during the day in the middle of the week so it wasnt super busy and we had a lot of quiet moments with the animals. You can come multiple times and always have a different experience. We really enjoyed the bears this time.

Gee

A wonderful experience at this zoo. Large well kept walkways for viewing the abundance of animals . Friendly staff willing to answer questions.

Briana Harris

Great animals! The kids had a blast!

Tyler Hjorthoy

Not many animals but quad cycle bike activity is a lot of fun with family. Choo choo train too is good fun for young kids.. Slushes on hot days is super awesome.

Annette Koekman

The Zoo itself is very nice, it's a great place to go for a good walk and check out the animals. You do get the chance to feel closer to the animals than you do in other zoos. It is less crowded than Seattle and you are able to take your bikes or scooters and ride around the zoo which I thought was cool. The down side is the amenities, trying to get in was slow, it seemed to take ages to process each person and take the money, the concession stand closed 2 hours before the zoo so no food for our kid who we'd promised fries and the toilets are limited except for Porta potties scattered around. Overall though the lack of crowds and the closeness to a lot of the animals led to a good day out.

Chad Hooey

Vancouver zoo is very good .you can find mostly animals and lots birds .very good and fun place for kids.big park for kids to play train entertainment is also there.

Victor Tam

Today we went to the behind the scenes with the red panda. The dynamic duo were excited to see us. We fed them dates and pear treats on little sticks. The team were great with kids and provided us many laughs and memories that will last a lifetime. We were impressed by the teams efforts in keeping the zoo clean and the animals happy. We saw lions, tigers and bears, giraffes.. and so much more. Thank you Vancouver Zoo :)

Kristofer Bampton

An amazing time for the family, 10/10 recommended!

Aneesh Kumar

I love the zoo, however my lower review is due to the price and the inability to predict whether you will get to see any animals at all. When I went recently I only saw every 3rd or 4th animal. However, the dinosaur exhibit was super fun for the kids!

Lori Mahon

Love the zoo. We get a membership every year. The kids love to take their bikes here and ride around. The train schedule has gotten pretty bad over the years though. Used to be unlimited rides with a membership now they put a limit on it and everytime we come there are no available rides for at least 3 hours

Rebecca Wilkerson

We had a ton of fun even though the weather wasn't cooperating. Lots of animals to see and great information on the sign posts. We are looking forward to going back on a day that the train is running. Bring your waking shoes as there is a lot of walking between animals.

Christine Campbell

The animals were nice but that one monkey Madison was just too much. We enjoyed the ducks.

S B

We love visiting the Zoo with our young kids. It's a nice walk around the grounds, and we appreciate that the animals have larger spaces to move around in. Staff is always kind and helpful ! We have annual passes which make it worth the $$ for us- that way we don't feel like we have to spend the whole day.

Phil Chiang

Although I'm not a fan of caged animals. My kids thoroughly enjoyed their visit. Many of the cages are empty but there is still lots to see. The train ride is really nice. The playground for the kids is great. The concession food is a bit expensive but it is expected with this type of attraction.

Michelle Lalonde

A few exhibits were empty or being upgraded today. The $6pp train ride was around 15 minutes in duration and runs the perimeter of the park, and it is a good way to see what's in the park. Bikes for two adults and two young kids are available for $20/hr. The walkway is tree lined for most part so walking them is actually enjoyable. There are lemonade/donut stands in a few spots so you won't be caught hungry/thirsty. Was hoping to see a few more and more exotic animals, but the admission fee at $30 & $23 was reasonable especially with BOGO Entertainment book coupons.

Trona Garvie

This a fantastic place for the care if endangered, extinct in the wild and rescued animals. If you visit with kids, place teach them to respect the animals by being quiet. Screaming at the animals hurts their ears.

Peet Tran

Although not too many animals, but still a good place to go. Good choice to take the little train to go around the park to have a overview. It’s awesome experience that taking the kids’ scooter or bike when having the tour in the park

Erika Quee

I was pleasantly surprised at how well the zoo was maintained with recent brand new buildings. The variety of animals is quite amazing and my kids loved learning more about each one with the informative sign boards at each enclosure. Our highlight was hearing the cheetah purr, a sign of a happy cat! I would highly recommend it and go early to avoid the crowds.

Ella Chung

Amazing as always loads of fun...great workout for your legs on those bikes

Simon Ching

Not a fancy zoo but decent enough for kids below 5 running around. Friendly staffs. Didn't see many animal from the train ride. Will rent a family bike next time instead. Playground was fun. Will visit again in couple years.

Karen Lau

We went on a beautiful Saturday and loved the experience. I would have liked to have seen some friendly staff interactions with visitors

C&T Foodie

Dinosaur exhibit on display at the zoo!

Nico “Nick” Abais

Very nice experience well set up and easy to follow signs and directions. Animals seem very happy here and they have a great display of the animals

Angie Korol

This Zoo was lovely we had a great time seeing the animals and riding the four seater bike. It was for two adults and two kids, the kids are elevated and just ride, the adults petal. There are some hills, but it wasn't too much of a work out and lots of fun! You could pet goats and there is a playground there too!

Alicia Sam

Had lots of fun ! Staff were very friendly. lots to look at. will be back again :)

Dave WU

A little bit old but still have many kinds of animals. Kids friendly. The 15mins little train tour is fun but not cheap($6 each person).

Margaret Pettipas

Really great for a day out with the kids. They need a few more animals. Otherwise a very good experience.

Paul Barron

I hope to one day see this zoo more developed. A lot of room to work with, the zoo seems dated but it's a great place for a walk or bike ride.

N Esm

Zoo was cute, it was a bit small, but it was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. The trails were lovely. The only sad thing was seeing a man in a wheelchair who could access many of the areas because it was not wheelchair accessible.

Meyna G

It not a fancy zoo that has all kinds of animals. It is rather a friendly zoo that has plenty of animals. You can get super close to some amazing animals such as the sybirian tiger.

Jonathan Gilder

Nice family place... The animals are well kept...

D3N4L1 FX

Awesome zoo! A lot of great exhibits to look at, and the train ride was really fun!

Zakir Ali

A very costly experience indeed. Paid $120 for 2 adults and 2 small kids. If only this place was more affordable. Some of the exhibits were empty and some of the animals from the other reviews weren't there but other than that it was a nice place to go with the kids.

Mariam Star

Great place to bring your family to learn about animals and their habitat informations. Parking are plenty. Don't forget to get in the mini train tour or rent a bike to enjoy the environment in more short period of time.

Kao Lew

It's a good place for family with kids. and summer should be better than winter. there will be more funs

SeriousDrainBramage

It was great! Although there were sheep everywhere this year. Thankfully they're afraid of humans, so they generally just leave their medical grade droppings all over the park, and panic before running away if you step within 6 feet of them!

Ryan Crawford

Such an amazing day at the Zoo☆☆ We cant wait to go back again!

Leigh Ratcliff

The Greater Vancouver Zoo is not your typical zoo. The best way to take advantage of this zoo is to bring some bikes & a picnic. There are lots of open spaces and it’s quite big so little feet can tire out quickly. But it’s a pretty cool, fun zoo. We got to pet an owl and watch the giraffe eat lunch.

Kyanne Lawrence

If you’re used to nice zoos with modern amenities like clean washrooms, the GV Zoo is not going to meet your expectations. Porta-potties are sprinkled throughout the grounds, and you can smell them almost everywhere. The established washrooms are filthy and outdated. Pay $6 for parking, plus entry fee only to be swarmed by wasps through the entire zoo. A staff member told us that by 12n there had been at least two stings reported. But no evidence of the zoo trying to control the wasp population. The vast majority of the animal exhibits are creatures you could see on a drive through the mountains or at a small local farm. The small handful of interesting exhibits aren’t worth it to pay such a steep price (even if you weren’t practically running through the zoo to keep wasps from landing on you constantly.) The maras are pretty cute, though.

Mr. Equation

It's a bit pricy for the entry fee. The kids enjoyed the play area more than the animals.

Katie Chow

It's a zoo that let's animals relax and be comfortable in their environment. The animals have very large spacious enclosures. Love this zoo, been going to it since I was a little kid. I remember feeding and petting the elephants when I was little!

Jon Y

Just visited the zoo first time since a child. Great selections of animals. They have a bunch of african a Animals lions , tigers, leopard. Also west coast animals bears, elk etc!! There are tons of animals!! Nice green pastures. Relaxing walk. I like the food selection. Animals see happy and very well taken care of. Good friendly staff. The animals are quite spaced out. Which means good exercise! Personally really enjoyed it and would highly recommend .

Emily Koenig

The new ticket office is pretty great. Half of the animals were missing and a few spots seem to be under construction so no animals or just is closed like the reptile room The hippos and lion are top notch

Constantin Sirbu

Great place to go to, well maintained and with plenty of educational material. Great for a anyone who loves animals.

Passion Neepz

Awesome place to take the kids. We enjoyed very much.

Ram Rosa

Great for little kids, a nice playground area, plenty of paid parking

Jack Bienvenue

We have a yearly pass which is great. Can go anytime we like and parking is included. Our son rides he's bike around as the park is quite big. Once you get the times for the shows it's fun because the lions and tigers were awake today.

Will S

The website is so generic that you have to call or go to the zoo for specific details regarding train times, membership perks (many aren't on the site), exhibit changes... They have yet to return any calls that I have left for them. Service aside, the actual trip is great. They have good educational shows for different ages (student ones each day), they are open 364 days a year, their zoo maps are everywhere, you can bring your own food and drinks, bicycles and such are allowed as well. It's a wonderful, low key experience. Like any zoo, be prepared to walk a lot.

Shay Johnson

First time coming to a zoo. I felt very disappointed with the spaces for the animals. I could clearly see that some animals were unhappy by their behaviour. “ Stereotypies are a type of abnormal behavior observed in animals living in captivity, and are generally indicative of boredom or an inability to cope with environmental stimuli. “ I suppose this is not my way of “having fun”. I hope that they can get better treatment some day.

Louis-Guillaume Rigaud

We'll run facility that is tons of fun to discover. The animals seem well cared for, and they have a significant amount of space to live in, which if course doesn't compare to what would be available to them in the wild. Renting quad bikes is fun, but a bit of a challenge and expensive: they are heavy so hard to pedal around, and it almost takes more time getting in and out with the whole family than it would to walk from one enclosure to the next. The 1hr time is not sufficient to get around the grounds unless you don't stop anywhere and don't read any of the signs, so you'll end up paying more.

Ben TheCaptain

Animals are always fun for the kids. They have a great playground with food too.

Rupi Kahlon

Love the family friendly vibe while having a train and bike option, educating you as you go then your own pace!

Don Adlam

The zoo looked and felt really run down. The only place to get something to eat from didnt taste too good and many animals were not visible during the visit. Not a lot of variety in animals either. It's something to do but definitely not something I'd highly recommend driving more than 15 mins for.

Tiffany Polano

Great day, however it would be nice if the direction indicators (one way traffic due to covid) were a bit more prominent.

Tyson Wong

???????????????????????????? Flamingo's and more the greater Vancouver Zoo! I This place has a lot of different animals. I feel bad for them but they are kept in a very wild and natural kind of environment.

Andrew Furmanczyk

The animals look so healthy and happy here.

K M

The kids and we all had a good time here watching all animals in their natural habitats. It was not too congested inspite of a lot of families visiting it and it was all safe.

jackson cave

We stopped by the zoo today and could not beleve how many times the public health orders were broken due to no masks or the 6' social distancing requirements. Everyove rushes over to get a look at the hippos or other bigger attractions around the zoo and the health guidelines seem to not exist anymore. Every time we were finally able to get a look the animals someone would come and be standing beside us. We eventually gave up on trying to see the animals ended up leaving a half hour after arriving.

Craig Plain

The zoo smelled like dead fish and The line was soooo long, I was trying to pay for a ticket and the machin was broken. The ice cream was gross and they had to try to calm the monkeys down but they weren't that good. this is how I felt after going to the zoo. That means I was mad!!!!!

Zero To Five Star

Washrooms are very slippery because on the floor very wet due to water and no keep any yellow caution sign board here.

Mary-Ann Thiessen

I was a little disappointed. A steep fee for very little to see and to pay another $8 for parking. Half the entrance price would have been fair. A beautiful day to walk around and that warranted an extra star. Otherwise it would have been a 2 star rating.

Justin Vandorp

Ive traveled through this county and many others Worst zoo ever! They try hard but the train ride is a bit of a joke. The Animal exhibits are natural and nicely kept but thats thè best thing they have going for them. We got there around 9, 3 kids and 3 adults. He asked how old are the kids only a baby, toddler under 3 and one over $166. We argued for over 5 minutes how the price was wrong mainly till he could actually understand what we were saying.. it is Vancouver, then came time for payment, my wife, grandmother and myself all used our cards and they would not work.. Interact/ Debit is not a credit card.. after being told 30 times we said screw it and put on a credit card. If you want to see an Awesome zoo go to Calgary, Winnipeg or Toronto.. lots of room for the Animals and lots more of them. This place will never get my repeate business and will express my experience with other and advise against going here!

Justin Harden

At least it is Zoo. Need more wild friends Join the family.

Jonathan Dueck

We always enjoy coming to the zoo. Keeper talks are interesting and a great way to see the animals moving around more. You can find the schedule online. My kids also love the playground

andrew wake

While it's wonderful and educational to visit the zoo with kids, I couldn't get over how sad this place is - the exhibits are aging and in severe need of repair. The habitats are small, and they are encircled by large, chain link fences, so you don't even get to see the animals very well. The tiger habitat was tiny, and the poor alligators had no room to do much of anything. Either this place needs a MAJOR investment to dramatically improve the habitats, or it needs to shut down and send these animals to homes where they can live out their lives comfortably.

Lothar Holzmüller

Nice. A good place for the animals living there. An amazing place for families.

Ashley June

Loved it , went with my grandkids , their looks of amazement & wonder made me extremely happy!

Ryan McKim

We had a fun time at the zoo. It's great that the kids can ride on their scooters. The exhibits we're nice, there were a few that was so under construction.

Kayla R

Zbynek Vyskovsky

Variety of works animals, nice walk for family afternoon.

Sanjeet Shivkar

I like this place - it has a bit of a bad rep from people I talk to but it’s a great place to go to see some animals and learn about them! Bring the bikes and tour around! The train is great and if you have a membership then it’s free! Lots of good spots to do lunch if you pack in your food! Always love the giraffes!!

Stanley Fung

It was a good experience for the kids. Have not been there for a number of years and things have gotten better. Bring ur bike or scooters if you have one. Kids will love it. Be warned, Zoo does not require mask wearing so quite a number of ppl did not wear mask.

Bill knox

Nice day at the Zoo. Animals were out

T C

I absolutely love this place. I have been coming here for 25 years. It has changed alot, and finally for the better. Whoever owns it now is doing such a great job. Thank you is all i have to say because it is such an amazing place for our family to come to. Please stay open maybe one hour later on weeknights or some weeknights because we would love to not be so strapped for time coming here after work times with the family.

Melatonin “Smax”

Super fun and nice stuff members My family and I Loved it

Grace Wong

Amazing amazing. I have to say it is such a beautiful and a peaceful place. You can spend as much time as you want watching animals. I have to say if anybody plans on going - PLEASE GO IN THE MORNING OR NOON. If you go too late the animals most likely go to sleep in there sheds and you won’t be able to see them. But our experience was really good ❤️ I loved it❤️????

I took my kids to the zoo on October 15 for their birthdays. When we woke up to all the rain, I wasn’t sure it would be worth the trip. I called the zoo and spoke to a lady in the gift shop. I asked her 3 questions: Is everything running today as normal? Are the bike rentals running? How many of the animals do you think will be hiding from the rain out of view? She told me everything was running as usual, the bike rentals were open and some of the animals prefer the quieter, rainy days. I brought my kids to the zoo and paid for our tickets. I asked the cashier about buying train tickets. He informed me that the train wasn’t running. My son was disappointed, but we decided we would still have fun. We asked that same cashier about the bike rentals and he told us to go to the bike area near the train. When we got there, there was no staff and a sign saying that the bike rentals weren’t happening because of the rain. We didn’t bring any strollers or the kids own bikes because we thought we would be riding the train and ferrying our kids around on the bike. My kids just turned 4 and 6 and still are not interested in walking for very long. As a result, we spent over $100 for 4 of us to walk around for maybe an hour before my kids got sick of walking and started to melt down. What a waste of money and my kids birthday adventure. Had I been told over the phone that neither the train nor the bikes would be running, I would not have come to the zoo today. Myself, my mom and worst of all my kids were super disappointed with the zoo. $100 is a lot of money to spend on an adventure only to have it turn into disappointed birthday kids and frustrated adults. I feel like I did my due diligence by calling ahead. I was given the wrong information by your staff. And wrong information not once, but twice. I emailed the zoo right away that very day and today I have not heard back from them even though it’s been 2.5 weeks.

Jonathan County

Nice staff and a fun day out but not a great zoo in terms of the amount of animals you will actually see during your visit

matt de leeuw

My wife and I go here often and enjoy it every time. The red pandas are the cutest. The new dinosaur exhibit was really cool with the animatronics, and a lot of digestible information on the dinosaurs.

Matt James

Nice location, great animals. It should be recommanded to buy the tickets in advance.

Melissa Milne

A good experience at the zoo! It's currently going through some renovations right now, and they have changed some of the locations of enclosures and the entrance. It's $6 a day for parking (note your license plate#). Though the animals are well-cared for, the buildings and signage are in need of an update, everything has looked the same for decades. But there is still a mini train that tours the zoo, and 2 and 4 man biked that you can rent and traverse the zoo at your own speed. There's easy to read directions and locations of the different enclosures. Once you get through the crowded entrance and go future into the zoo, you start to lose the hordes of people milling around. All the popular animals are near the entrance (lions, tigers, giraffes, etc) and the more north american animals are towards the rear of the zoo, so it tends to be quieter there. There are lots of shaded picnic tables to take a break, look-out areas for viewing the animals. Of course, nature being what it is, you can't control when the animals choose to be active or hide, but when an animals chooses to be visible, its always exciting and even the most stoic adult reverts to being a kid

Chris Ng

Great zoo to see many different animals

Polina Derevnina

Not worth for $30/ticket. Aquarium way better

Zak

Cool small zoo. It took us about 70 minutes to see it all.

jensen tam

A fun experience with my friends, they also had a scavenger hunt. It is paid parking and the parking meter is close to the main entrance.

Eric A

It's a nice walk around while looking at wildlife. Glad to see they're taken cared of well. We biked around too but I think I prefer to walk. Train ride is ok - wish it went longer and went through places not accessible to everyone. That would have been a good draw. Overall a nice experience if there's nothing else.

Rob New

Whoever owns the zoo now is doing a great job it has come a long way. last time we went years ago it was just sad and dumpy it's was actually very enjoyable for the whole family looking forward to going more often as they continue to improve it

Jemmiel Virtucio

Pretty good place to go around with family. Kids would love it...

Irene Wasylow

We were lucky to be able to go into the panda exhibit and be right with the red pandas it was amazing expérience

Elliott Braun

Love this place, whether it's just to go for a walk and get your head right or taking the family for a fun day at the zoo....highly recommend getting the family pass as it includes so much more than just the zoo entrance fee...

Q22q1 A22a1

Some of the employees responsible for selling train tickets are racists

Jenny Cliche

The zoo doesn't have a lot of animals but still OK.

Aubrey

I have seen many zoo and this is one of the most disappointing animal place ever. Animals exposure is very rare. Calgary ZOO in comparison is well organize and very family oriented. I wouldn't waste money on Great Vancouver ZOO for a second entry.

Anne CZ

That was a great experience for my family. Our 2 years old girl enjoyed seeing animals in real world. We went on a weekday afternoon. It wasn’t very busy. Lots of parking, no line ups, no crowds. You can bring your bike, stroller, kick scooter etc. Also wheelchairs wouldn’t have any problem moving around.

Leo Sieczka

Very empty unused exhibits, some runned down, not overly well maintained and therefore way over priced for what's offered. The staff was excellent. It wasn't busy at all today probably because of the rain and a worker took an owl out and talked about him. She answered all our questions, great personal touch on my son's first birthday!! The lion feed was also bee interesting. You also need to pay for parking and pay extra to go on the train. Overall I say its not worth it. There are way better zoos out there.

Metro Work

Place is great but you cannot see 60% of animals. I have seen only 25 animals over 2 hours. Safari bikes are so expensive $ 20 for an hour, no control on price. The Zoo management can do better on visitors visibility cause we are taking our childs to promise to show certain animals. At last the kids end up with the basic play ground facilities. More to say but i respect the management and advise them to have proper review from customers and do the best for them have better satisfaction. Looking forward to look from you soon Have a great day Thanks& best regards Vinou

Kalpki Gebert

Lots of fun! Bears were active and the giraffe was trying (unsuccessfully) to make friends with the ostrich! Go check it out!!

ridvan t

Loved the newly renovated zoo. The effort that's been put into upgrading the fences and the animal habitats has made a huge difference in our zoo experience. We saw a dinosaur exhibit going up as we walked though, so it looks like there's even more in store for this new zoo. There is new signage with detailed and updated information on the animals in the zoo. We will definitely be back again!

Christine Pedersen

It's an ok place but they could do with a few new ideas....monkeys...mini aquarium.....spiders.

R Razak

Great hangout, lots of open spaces. Love the animals they have. Those rental bikes though great option, but time for an upgrade, so hard to pedal them up the hill.

Pavan Dhaliwal

IMO the best Zoo in North America. The animals have plenty of space to live happy lives. I take my kids here about once a month and they absolutely love this place. I think it would be smarter to lower the admission fees though, which are pretty much prohibitive for an average family. That way more people will be visiting.

justfortest TK

Fun for a two hour walking around to see rescued animals

martin oconer

Don't even think to visit this place. Its not even a zoo. Many enclosures are empty and even if there are animals you can hardly see them as they are hiding far behind big tress and bushes. No birds, no raptiles. Waste of time and money

Guruprakash Chandran

It's a small zoo and been maintained well. Only issue I found is the fence for hippos too small. Hippos are generally considered dangerous and can attack humans. Would like to see a large fence prevents both hippos reaching the humans also prevents kids& people falling into it's territory.

Grace Cheng

First time after rennovation, great outdoor walk. Animals not too active tho

Don Plett

A great place for summer fun

Zo Kay

Love the zoo! The variety of big cats made the trip from Vancouver worth while. We enjoyed ourselves so much we bought a family pass because we will be going to the zoo often.

Randie Levetsovitis

Took bus and Uber to reach here just to see 3 species.. No storage place for baggages, doesn’t even shovel the snow for tourists. Not worth the money and time. Worst zoo ever. Don’t come

Hesam Navidi

Although most of the animals were either hiding or sleeping, it was a nice day for a walk.

steadybeat1

Over priced hardly any animals zoo looks rum down we were in and out in 30 mins

Kyle Rieder

As someone who hadn't visited the greater Vancouver zoo in years, I was impressed with the infrastructure and efforts that have gone into make it into a great outing. They have an impressive lineup of animals including lions, a tiger, grizzly bear cubs and giraffes.

Beverley

We got the full experience this time. We rode on the train, met the reptiles, lions. Tigers and raptors. We brought food and had a picnic on the grass near then entrance. We went during the day in the middle of the week so it wasnt super busy and we had a lot of quiet moments with the animals. You can come multiple times and always have a different experience. We really enjoyed the bears this time.

zakrea hashim

Nice staff , and great place for the kids and families. It’s so big and some animals hide in the field and hard to see them. Take snacks with you.

Stephanie So

get the yearly pass. its cheap and lots to do. kids love going. there are shows everyday and reptile, bird shows too. trainers are great at their jobs. theres a cafeteria but expensive. just take your kids own lunches and snacks from home. great way to kill half the day. highly recommend.

Penny LeBlanc

I know I’m not suppose to go to zoos because there cruel. There’s really nowhere else to go to see a lion or an alligator.

R

Newer facility. Good animal selection. Not all animals were visible. Overpriced.

Petra Ludde

I so love animals and the zoo is part of the species preservation project, which I appreciate. We saw animals, which are extinct in the wild and rely on Zoos to preserve the species. ✔☺

Steven Booth

I went to the zoo and they only had one animal. It was a dog. It was a shih tzu. All kidding aside it was a good time. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Price wasn't too bad. They offer a military discount, so there is a win. I recommend going when it opens or closer to close. If it is cooler the animals are more active.

Cindy Trinh

Love the place... I appreciate the Greater Vancouver zoo there's exotic animals we dont see before or daily..great family and group day trip.

Magandeep Singh

this is not what I expected, much more needs to be improved. Since it is accessible to families with children, there must be a clean environment. It is dusty in the crowd because the ground is where people walk. The playground is rocky yet dusty. Transportation within the rental is lacking having to wait a few more hours.

Cody

I love this place but there needs to be more enforcement for social distancing and people actually following the ONE WAY rules. There was clearly way way way too many people here today too on March 27th. Literally dozens of people within inches from eachother, crowding areas. Not moving so you have to go around them. Then you get smooth brained retards who don't follow the rules going the wrong way around the park so they pass face to face every single other person.

Luc Vail

Pretty average for a zoo. The giraffes and large cats were cool but parts of the zoo are a little run down. Still they appear to respect their animals. The staff at spoke with were clearly passionate about their jobs. We were a little surprised about the paid parking given no easy transit options but we had a good time.

Mia Hungry

Lots of updates to the zoo. Getting better every visit. Food could use some better options

Hao & Xiao

All time favorite. We can easily spend 4,5 hours there. Lots to do and lots to see.

Annia Lee

a bit pricey the animals were all hiding as it was hot saw maybe six in the whole zoo. train ride cost extra the bike extra and had to pay for parking , not very interactive for the children but the dinosaurs park made it up

Kayla North

Great for kids to run around or bike through the zoo, but the exhibit are poorly designed and under-maintained. Unless you get lucky I would not expect to see many animals up close.

Jeff Jacobsen

Great place to spend the day be ready to do some walking

Moiz Munif

Great place for whole family. Train ride was quite exciting

Ali.Allen Ahmadi

Overpriced tickets, and Able to see very less animals. Seems like the zoo is not well taken care of. Animals are very lean. Most of the animals are lonely, bored, tired, not happy. Overgrown grass and trees are the only thing you see the most.

Sam Sam

The train ride may be overrated as, it was a little too fast to observe what the zoo had to offer, but the children enjoyed it. The quite zone was amazing. The talk shows and presentations were very enjoyable.

Erik Lacey

Had a great time with my son!

Matt H

Coming here about once a year. It has a very large path to see all the animals so some people bike. I usually walk and it's a great way to spend an afternoon. Love the shows they put on like "radical raptors". Always a good time.

Denis Kuznyetsov

Really love this place. Many animals & big gardens. Had fun with the train too.

Abeer Al Riyami

Amazing place for kids P.s. go in a cloudy day or low temp and around 12(feed time) or your kids won't like it

KD McArthur

Love this place. Even in the snow so much to see and do.

Subraaz Abdullah

Be prepared to walk a lot as the zoo is quite spread out. Quad bikes available for rent are a good idea if you don't have any carriers or strollers for babies and toddlers. We also saw people bring their own bikes which seemed like a great idea (not sure if there is a charge for this). We enjoyed the food at the cafeteria inside. Our 2 year old enjoyed seeing all the animals.

Leah Wynsouw

Brought our grandkids. Good experience, however the animals they were most hoping to see were not available which was a bit disappointing. I would bring a picnic lunch as the food is expensive and not fantastic.

Grand Ways International

Don't even think to visit this place. Its not even a zoo. Many enclosures are empty and even if there are animals you can hardly see them as they are hiding far behind big tress and bushes. No birds, no raptiles. Waste of time and money

js r

This has always been a favorite for my family for a weekend outing. There are lots of exhibits of fun and different animals. They a have show going at a different exhibit the entire day to do feedings or general informational shows. I went recently and noticed they are definitely upgrading in a big way and I'm excited to see the changes. They have new signage for the exhibits, new railings and fencing to make certain exhibits easier to view and in general improve the appearance. They have 2 new(ish) exhibits. A red panda and badgers. I find even during busy times it's never really crowded so you don't have to fear being pushed and shoved constantly. If you go definitely give the train a ride, it's very fun especially for little ones. Overall this Zoo is no comparison to the big zoos like Toronto or San Diego or Seattle so don't go in expecting that but for a small and fun little zoo you won't be disappointed.

Crystal-Maria Krolenko

Has it's beauty. However is visible there is not enough budget to keep it shine. I hope the city will find necessary funds to make it a little paradise. It's not far from that ...

Yang Stella

Not an impressive zoo for adults, but a great place to take kids. The animals are easy to see and very kid friendly. They also have a good playground, and a train! Great place to take a family trip.

kevin johnson

Had a blast ! 90% of the animals were out. As long as you get there right at opening you will have an abu dance of space

Fred Wang

Less animals compared to a few years ago. No more bird show, but may be due to the pandemic. Should have a schedule that can provide to visitors regarding the animals feeding time. If you decide to do bike rental inside the park, then you will be done the whole thing under 1.5 hours along with photos. However, there is a section of the park that doesn't allow those bikes to enter because it is too narrow.

Nick Gropp

Great place lovely animals. Should go in the morning. Tons of children.

tallandrefreshing

Not a fancy zoo but a good selection of animals that you can get close to in some cases. Simple layout means you won't get lost and see everything without a lot of backtracking. Inexpensive admission price. Small train ride circles entire property.

Zulaa Dorjsuren

Such an awesome place for kids and adults. All animals were well looked after. There’s plenty of space for bike and scooter rides, which was a bonus.

Bob West

It was a great way to go for a long walk and enjoy the animals on a sunny day.

Arjin Lally

Animals not really visible, new attraction dinosaurs were pretty cool for the kids

Ashley Gunn

Love it at the zoo. My son absolutely loves the new dinosaur section!

Book Master

Zoo offers a large array of animals to view. Black jaguars are very cool. Great for kids. Bikes, skateboards, scooter, etc allowed. Needs about 90min for full experience. Covid-19 protocols in place.

Jenn

To start, zoos depress me. I mean, I love seeing the creatures of the earth but to see 6 squirrel monkeys trapped in a room instead of a vast jungle, it kinda makes you sad. Other than that, this place is pretty amazing. It's also massive and everyone was bringing bikes and scooters. So if you bring children, bring a bike too. It looked like a great way to spend the day.

Richard Dalby

Although it was a lovely afternoon out. $70 entry for 2 people with parking is a little excessive!! I would imagine it would be well over $100 for a small family. Roughly 40% of the exhibits were empty. They have also removed some animals from the zoo.

Semin Shukori

The male lion is magnificent. We took the scenic train ride which was great. This is a smallish zoo, but very pleasant to visit.

Digvijay Singh Rathore

An amazing time for the family, 10/10 recommended!

Megan Miles

Feeding the Lions was cool and the hawk doing tricks some animals looked sad

Evinaruha

Lots of rest areas, space and lots of different animals!! Lots of uphills if you want to rent the bike a bit of an exercise

D Magee

I mean where else can you go to see a hippo this close

Dragon C

Fun for kids but really sad, super small animals cage. Animals need bigger space where the could run and be happier.... train and other maintenance vehicle smell really bad diesel it should be environmentally friendly electric... maybe ask for sponsorship... I’m not enjoying it family breathing all diesel in the train ride so gross and dangerous.... so easy to make it environment friendly roller coaster model.... Thanks

Chris Jones

Granddaughter and daughter had a blast great place to go

Amy A Park

It's very silent and comfortable. My family loves this place.

J A

Favorite place! Have a yearly membership and go for weekly walks with my wife to visit all the animals.

Ross Enns

Great experience. Love the new entrance and parking lot. Good signage throughout the park. A small amount of exhibits were under construction or were empty. Adding new mini doughnut stop at far corner that I look forward to enjoying

Molly Rodriguez

Love bringing the kids here with their bikes or scooters. Safe place for them to run around without fear of traffic/vehicles. The new dinosaur exhibit is very cool! The kids also like the playground on site. Currently there are a few exhibits closed or missing animals so it felt empty last time we went. For a day pass, it's expensive for a family to go. But if living locally a 1year family pass is worth it to go for walks in weekends etc.

AorilAlice Kerber

In all honesty, we went on a hot holiday and many people were there. In the heat, most of the animals were in the shade. But those that were visible still are captivating because we would not get to see them otherwise. The male ostrich, however, loves being viewed and will put on a show if you say hi. The giraffe is majestic as always, and I'd love to scratch the lions' bellies if I could. The elk and reindeer are also sights to behold. Not as scenic or impressive as the San Diego Zoo, but they try their best. It's a small zoo. Walk around in about 1.5 hrs or bike in less. Would I go back? Absolutely. Best time to visit would be at opening or shortly before closing. Parking would be available by then. I wish they had an aviary though. But they do have a reptile house.

Taras Tereshchak

Nice place for kids/family to spend half a day.

Lyndsey Nolan

There's a few things that could be done at minimal cost to make the experience better for visitors. I think knowing the backstory for the animals there that have been rescued would help. Give them names, explain how they got there etc etc. Obviously most of the animals there need larger enclosures and more stimulation and it shows. I think that they could do better. With that being said, we've had a bad experience there and it's fun if you bring bikes. (I also really enjoyed the burger at the concession stand)

Zdravko Loborec

Great day out. The space the animals have is terrific. Healthy looking animals, pleasant staff and great grounds. Will be back.

Pierre Facette

We had such an amazing day at the zoo today. There’s plenty of room for kids to run and play. Beautiful place to do picnics, take great pictures and have fun with the family. They have bike rental, safari-grill, a playground, a train and more! Did you know the expected lifetime of a hippopotamus ???? is 36 years? Go ahead and plan your visit to learn more! Last but not least important; they do sanitize the place for your and their safety during the pandemic.

Gypsy Blood

Most of the enclosures are closed however they still charge the full price for the admissions, but they don't tell you how many enclosures are closed to give the option to not want to waste the money. I mean I know of a hundred places to.go for a free walk and free parks. Wasn't happy to pay over 100.00 dollars to walk the zoo and not see anything

braydon puffalt

We love the zoo. It is a great way to burn off some energy in a very safe environment! The enclosures are always getting better and we enjoy watching the zoo keepers add value to the animals lives with enrichments and affection. We feel the the family pass makes this one of the most cost effective outings to do with our family of five!

Dom M

Wide variety of animals to see. Grounds are kept very tidy, garbage cans are plentiful, and staff are friendly. It is also nice that there is a playground for kids and concession stands.

And Gru

Amazing place for kids P.s. go in a cloudy day or low temp and around 12(feed time) or your kids won't like it

Leah Knight

Great and clean place to take your kids to look at all types of animals. Rented a bike that I put my 2 kids in front for 20 bucks an hour. Had a awesome time would recommend.

Di Bailey

Not really a zoo person. It was very tidy but the staff were rarely seen though. Most of the animals seemed comfortable, the ones we could see anyway. The trails were well marked and the factoids were brief but informative. Note to families, stop throwing your garbage on the ground and at least try to control your kids.

Stephen Cobb

A good day trip. Its pretty far from Vancouver! They have quite a few variety of animals. The zoo train is the best way to ensure you see all of them. Quad cycles are available on rent to roam the zoo as well. The canine feeding was a highlight of our visit. I have not visited it after their renovations. Will update my review again after that.

Wayne Jackson

The zoo is one of our favourite places. My husband and I have annual passes and we will continue to get them unless we move out of the area. We go for a walk as often as possible and love to see the different animals. Now that we have a baby, we love showing her our favourites. She loves the ostriches and giraffes the most right now.

Abilene Muraro

Alot of upgrades since the last time I've been which look really nice. Still sucked that a lot of the exhibits were closes for renovations.

TJ Kline

Such an amazing day at the Zoo☆☆ We cant wait to go back again!

Lothar Holzmüller

Nice. A good place for the animals living there. An amazing place for families.

Ciera Emery

Terrible membership customer service. I was very happy to purchase a membership and support our local zoo but now regret purchasing because of how rude this woman was to me. I called to inform them about membership benefits that are not being honored and she was very dismissive and short with me. I was not asking for compensation, I just thought they would want to know that they are falsely advertising benefits associated with being a member. Apparently they are perfectly content lying to their patrons

carol McDonald

A huge greater Vancouver disappointment. Arrived today to find everything closed down. Phone message was still saying open 364 days a year 7 days a week. Closer inspection of the website says is now closed tues and we'd for winter season. My season pass just became a lot less value packed

LLX_Plague he

Very disappointed to hear for the price that the monkeys and other animals were not there anymore was so expensive and barely anything to see

Johnny Chen

Great place to bring the kids to ride bikes or play in the park with a couple of caveats: In anything other than hot summer, bring a jacket as it is in a low pocket and gets very cold. The animals sometimes "hide" in their enclosures, which makes it a little boring. As long as you don't go too much you should be okay. Also, take the train at least once. The kids LOVE it!

Adam Rybak

A rarity these days set on forested acreage with large pens for the various animals. It's not like a regular animal zoo. It's well spread out. Lots of walking or take the little train around. Very nice outing for everyone. Excellent food, clean washrooms. They also have a gift shop. A nice day outing for all ages.

Mike Albrecht

Not too much variety but they have a dozen of wild animals like elk, bison, lion, tiger, etc. Good use of time and money.

Erin Smith

This zoo was really fun! Exhibits are spaced out but it's got a little bit of everything. Saw the Keeper Talk with the big cats too and loved it!

cdnxman 1

one of the best experiences, got some great views of the animals, especially the red Pandas

Greg Robb

Prices were very good for a family, it was a little cold out the day we went but there still was slot of animals out. The staff were very good and helpful. The animals, man the animals they have animals from all over the work, the star for us was the Cheetahs. If you have not been to the zoo yet or haven't been there in a long time, I highly recommend going and see everything, take home time and enjoy the walk.

M Sandhu

Be prepared to walk a lot as the zoo is quite spread out. Quad bikes available for rent are a good idea if you don't have any carriers or strollers for babies and toddlers. We also saw people bring their own bikes which seemed like a great idea (not sure if there is a charge for this). We enjoyed the food at the cafeteria inside. Our 2 year old enjoyed seeing all the animals.

Michael Sapriken

I went in with low expectations, but it ended up being amazing. It is a zoo on the smaller side, but it has lots of things to see. It has great paths for riding scooters or bikes around to keep the younger ones going. When we went I think the only animals that didn't make an appearance were the wolves and the foxes. Everyone else was not only out but active. The lion show at 1 is phenomenal when they feed the lion's and tiger 5 feet in front of you. We also got to see the reindeer, camels, some other deer and red panda being fed. One zoo keeper in particular was amazing. He patiently answered my son's questions each time we saw him. We were the only ones in attendance at the reindeer show and he was fantastic when it came to questions about santa and his reindeer, he never missed a beat in keeping the dream alive. He spelled his name for me but sadly I don't remember his name...it started with Or and I recall a gh too I think. There are also sculptures of each animal that the kids can touch and climb which suffices for the need to pet and for the very little ones...they still get to see the animal if the real one is hiding. I still can't believe how close and active all the animals were. You could actually see them close up even though they had space to roam. A highlight for us is when we heard a cheetah purring while lounging on the grass.

R Neufeld

A nice outing for a family. If you live close and have younger kids, I'd strongly recommend getting the annual pass. You get a free trip on the train every time you visit. We will just go for an hour or two to ride the train, play on the playground and see if their favourite animals are out.

Hamid Mollaei

Awesome for families with kids. Bikes and scooters allowed and the train looks fun.

Harris Kisseoglou

The new dinosaur area is a fun new addition. The zoo is quite large so bringing bikes or scooters is a great idea for anyone with kids. The maps and signage could be improved it does get confusing. If your short on time do the train it's money well spent to get to see the whole zoo. The gift shop was recently renovated and barely has anything in it anymore which is unfortunate. The yearly pass is worth your money if you go 3 or more times a year like we do.

Ali Jassim

A glorified farm. Not many animals there although you can get really close to a tiger and lions.

Ryan Pan

It's an ok zoo, not a lot of animals and the facilities really need an update, soon.

Brandon

Love it here. Buy the seasons pass. Well worth it

Brandon

Getting better but still struggling with the basics. Saturday in summer with a huge line up and only one ticket window out of 3 open. Been a member for years but can’t renew online so you are punished with a one hour wait - ‘we don’t have enough staff right now to open more windows.’ Tip of the day - you’ll sell more $240 family memberships if you hire more part time staff. Come on GV Zoo - you are on the right track but go the final mile and become a legitimate top tier Vancouver attraction. *Update - membership card printing machine wasn’t working when got to the front of the line!

Toni Mitovski

Not worth for $30/ticket. Aquarium way better

Toni Mitovski

This zoo is a safe-haven for animals that can't survive in the wild, like the bear cubs they saved when they lost their mother, the injured eagle who can't fly and the tiger who was once someone's pet. They have warm enclosures when it gets cold out. So I love supporting this zoo, Not to mention the grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Bring your bike if possible as it makes a beautiful bike ride

carlo kitson

There is not enough animals to see, the place is big but for the price that you pay is not good enough. Hey should lower their prices or brinf more animals.

Amanda olson

They are doing a great job, updating the place, just wish they brought in the reptiles and birds back

Bertina Donahue

Well maintained, beautiful grounds. The animals were phenomenal. Staff are so helpful. Went twice during my two weeks in the area. Love the zoo and can't wait to come back.

Victor Nguyen

Parking said 8$ a day but the online option over charges. Most people were not social distancing in the zoo, and masks weren’t mandatory. Playground was open and very busy. Directions for one way path ways were confusing to many people, and some times walking opposite direction of the one way was the only option to leave. Plenty of washrooms, most of the animals were visible and there was a shady spot near the bears to have a snack and watch the train (which was running by reservation).

Dianne Stoesz

Loved visiting the zoo with my granddaughter! Not too busy and it was lovely to stroll around the grounds and see the incredible animals. We watched the orphaned grizzly bear cubs romp and my granddaughter's favorite was the cheetah.

Carlie Pearson

Animals not really visible, new attraction dinosaurs were pretty cool for the kids

Adalia Cullen

Love this place!

Kevin G

The last few years I haven't been to happy with the zoo, due to most of the animals looking really unhappy and things looking a little rundown. Although I am happy to see things are finally changing. Areas of the zoo are being upgraded, the care for the animals seem to be improving and the overall feel of the environment for the animals and spectators is being boosted. By the looks of it, they are on their way to getting 5 stars from me and I am now starting to look forward to many more visits with my family

Beau Heaton

They are doing a lot of construction currently. Many enclosures are left empty or "renovating" . It really hasn't changed that much in the 20 years I've been going. Only the rates have gone up.

Alyssa Tuck

a little bleak, can’t access the animals enclosures on all sides so if the animal is far away you don’t stand a chance of seeing them. Small cages and not enough interactive signs and activities. Not a bad price but not what I’d expect of a ‘big’ zoo.

Justin Jordan

They should really have something saying that certain animals aren't available and that half of the zoo is under reconstruction, all in all wasn't bad and prices are okay. Would probably go again

Nathan Ng

Used to come here quite a bit, and it was a great place to go to. The train ride is definitely a highlight of the zoo. However, there aren't as many animals here compared to other zoos, and the zoo often seem a bit empty in general, even with it's large size.

Kilae Lofthouse

No wait

Laura Lush

Family friendly. Great zoo. Large playground. Decent food. Nice washrooms, with additional portapotties throughout the rest of the park. We enjoy renting the quadrycle or riding the train to explore.

Brenda Meszaros

Great zoo! Informative staff and well taken care of animals

Brock Aura

Megan Alexis

We arrived around 11 am and many of the animals were napping in shady areas of their enclosures around that time and were hard to see. We did stick around for the better part of the day and later in the afternoon we saw much more of them out and about then. They also have a cute little dinosaur animatronic exhibit that my 1 yr old really enjoyed! There is a lot of walking so you should wear good quality shoes and your shoes will get quite dusty so bring some you can afford to get a little dirty. Very accessible for strollers and a very baby/Toddler friendly environment. There are playgrounds and picnic tables all over. Reasonably priced food and drinks. Great for hanging out with your little ones for a few hours! Overall wonderful family experience.

Lucas Park

Great place! I think that it may be better in the warmer months a lot of animals seemed to be missing or indoors.

Alice W

Went to the zoo with the family during covid-19. Even though it was 1 direction there wasn’t much staff around to ensure everyone was kept at a safe distance. There was signs to keep to stay 6 feet apart from time to time if I could see them and portable washrooms did not have any hand washing stations. Also noticed that some people decided to walk in the wrong direction, it was hard to see the markings on the floor since there was zero staff in the actual zoo itself. Most of the staff was located at the admissions entrance. Anyways, I do understand no one can pet the animals or feed them but a lot of people were touching fences and other things such as tables, kids area and the train. Having washing stations available in high traffic areas would have been nice and more staff to ensure the direction was followed could have been better.

Nafissatou Toure

Enjoyed the walk. Loved to see bears! And the zebras

Harotech

was great overall animals were out but didn’t see some the giraffes were closed out wasn’t able to go inside to see it . was overly crowded and noticed not many people were social distancing or even wearing mask . but it was great food and the train ride was amazing plus the dinosaurs event they had in one area with live robotic dinosaurs.

Herman de Waal

A few too many empty exhibits, but overall a very pleasant zoo.

Greg Robb

Great place to get a good walk in and truly enjoy the sires and sounds!

Parvez Fattah

Good value for the seasons pass. Love going there with the nieces and nephews. Entertaining and informative keepers as well.

Nolan Grey

Really love this place. Many animals & big gardens. Had fun with the train too.

Catherine Carlson

The front entrance is very nicely remodeled, and parking is expanded. The new dinosaur section was great my kids loved it. Although a few exibits were empty still a great place to vist and bring the kids.

Inder Parhar

The animals were nice but that one monkey Madison was just too much. We enjoyed the ducks.

Kayleigh

Great to take the kids. Good for strollers, wagons, bikes... you can rent different family bikes to get around the park. Good bathrooms around the park and outhouses. Concession stands spread around the park. Mini donuts. Playground and sand area bring your own sand toys. You can also bring your own snack. They have picnic tables around the park too. Lots of parking.

Dave Kurniawan

Almost 20% of exhibits are either closed or being renovated. Maybe we came at the wrong season (late october).

Ursula Moriarty

A lovely day out with my granddaughter. Very well organised.

Darren Saunders

So much fun! You can walk or rent a bike to roam around. So much animals to see. They all look well taken care of. They are still renovating some area so, some parts are restricted. They have some food court and clean washroom by the entrance.

Meaghan Mclean

They should really have something saying that certain animals aren't available and that half of the zoo is under reconstruction, all in all wasn't bad and prices are okay. Would probably go again

veeru j

It's not worth it, too expensive for very few animals in the zoo.

J N

Lots of fun with the family! I loved the Cheetah. And the raptor show.

Vladimir Micic

ok zoo. don't expect anything special and also expect to spend more money inside, for the train ride. Animal selection is ok, but lots of empty parts, and most of the animals where inside their building so we couldn't see them. they should have built the animal buildings so you can see inside them too. The best part was the Dinosaur exhibition. The last thing, food is horrible to say the least. Never had a worst meal in my life and other 3 adults that where with us agree. We got the yearly pass but i am starting to rethink that decision.

Glenn Jones

We had a wonderful day visiting for my grandsons birthday.

Irshad Khan

The area of the zoo is of considerable size. We visited on a sunny Saturday in March. Needless to say, it was not best time to visit due to chill in the air. The beastly animals like the Lions, tiger and the bear were all 'sleeping'. Not much activity in those areas. Hoping to hear the roaring sound next time we visit the zoo

Josh W

Not sure why this is rated so lowly. We had a terrific time here. Lots of young families with bikes and scooters and strollers, beautiful relaxed animals, chill atmosphere, good mix of shade and sun. If there's such thing as zoo luck, we definitely hit the jackpot while we were there. Not only did we see just about everything we wanted to, but we saw some truly once in a lifetime activity and funny stuff. I think people get bummed if they don't see the animal(s) they wanted but that's hardly worth rating the overall property poorly. Even if it wasn't a zoo, just the walking space and atmosphere made for a nice morning. I feel like the food offerings should be far more expansive and the gift shop is a huge letdown, but the overall environment is surprisingly good. I look forward to returning some day.

Charmaine Fung

It is awesome, the animals seemed very well looked after and everyone had a great time. Thanks for the fun experience.

Samuel Roopsingh

One of the cleanest zoo's and most interactive animals with good support staff. Very well maintained zoo and the new mesozoic section of the zoo was an unexpected surprise.

Andrew Chan

The new dinosaur exhibit is great, allot new buildings and renovations, completely rebuild the parking lot. All the animals still there from before.

christina colonna

Kids had a blast got an annual membership great outdoor activity that will take up a chunk of the day

Gurinder Singh

Love it at the zoo. My son absolutely loves the new dinosaur section!

Michael Kunning

The zoo seen not taken care well, there is not that many animals like before. Most of these animals seem miserable, felt bad for them. Most animals are rolling in muddy water. The bear needed to have a pond of clean water but all we see is yucky muddy water, it was very hot that day also. The zoo near to invest in ponds with water, do more natural habitat. There are a lots of dead three around. These restaurant could be cleaner and more welcoming. Big difference between Vancouver zoo and Toronto Zoo.

Andrew Gwartney

As always, everything was great. Animals were all healthy and active. Baby grizzlies were playing, cougars were chasing a ball that some kid had. Tiger greeted us with a "chuff". Spring seems a good time even if it's a bit cold, the animals were quite active, I've found they are all as lethargic as I am in the summer and just lay in the shade. Buying a yearly membership soon, we live very close so looking forward to it.

Lesley Johnson

Very fun day! roughly 1/3 of the exhibits were empty or under renovation, but it looks like they are opening up more exhibits soon.

Russell Didlick

Excellent as always good place to burn 2 to 3 hours with the kids and they love it there

Antje S

Although most of the animals were either hiding or sleeping, it was a nice day for a walk.

Mike Mckenzie

So much fun seeing all the critters! Went on a cooler day so most of them were out and about. Rented the quad bike and rode around for an hour and had a lot of fun! Would recommend going as much as possible to help support these wonderful animals. Also, they've recently started building new additions and can't wait to see when they're done!

J Steffensen

We love the zoo!! The new dino exhibit is so great

N M

What a disappointment, I used to love coming here but it is clear that they need to step up in the care of the animals. I took my daughter's here today and the young moose is in desperate need of having his hooves trimmed. There was one iguana inside of its side of the enclosure and another one in the turtle side of the enclosure. There are two new enclosures and they are so small. This zoo is more like someone's backyard with random animals in fences.

Irene Isnardy

Loved it. Animals had lots of room to roam

Tim & Brenda Tjosvold

The place is fantastic and you can ask any of the workers questions anytime. We saw the Wallaby's baby in her pouch. We wrote and asked about its age and got a great answer the same day!

Jasdeep Singh

Gotta admit,...the train ride was totally worth it! My grandson also liked the bison. But also so much more to see!

Henry Nguyen

Dinosaur park is cute. It might be too hot in summer, so some animals may hidden we cannot see them. The red rental bike is hard to ride especially for uphill lol

Gord Suddaby

Zoo its self is good. Irritating parking, they want money on top of you entrance ticket to park and you have to drag the kids back to the car to place it on dash. Then you go into the zoo and the kids see the train and want to ride, can't buy tickets where the train is, must drag the kids back to the office to get them. I don't mind the fees but found it very irritating . Will no be back.

Kelvin Jung

Great for little kids, a nice playground area, plenty of paid parking

Ishani Birch

Decent zoo, fairly outdated and in dire need of upgrades throughout the park. It looks as though they are in the midst of some renovations but they seem to be about 10 years overdue. Once updates are done I'd be curious to see how a facelift would change my view of this place. For the price I'd expect more but it's a decent way to waste an afternoon with the kids.

Alexander Smolev

Family place, spend 3-4 hours here. Parking fee is $6 and we got the cycle( family of 3 with 9 yr old daughter). Fun stuff and the animals are kept well and cared for. Take a picnic with you and cycles are also allowed. Plus there is a nice park to sit and relax in. Eatables available although at a premium.

Patrick Engee

Real Canadian zoo! Love the landscape and feeling how happy those animals are! Love it!

Cody S

Was a really good experience, clean and not crowded. My son had a blast

Sam choi

great place to take the kids, the extra work they have done adding to the park is great!

Evan Bisson

The zoo was really nice! Would go back!

Sarah L.

Great place, don't is a big zoo but is good

Kelsie Stokely

An exhibition of different animal species. It's great that they have enough space to live in. A small train trip, playgrounds, a nice place to enjoy with family.

Nicole Pawluk

Great place, a nice family outing and a good variety of well looked after animals ????

Bob Canada

Was pouring but still a good visit! The one way COVID thing isn't too bad to deal with.

Jackie Pedersen

Very expensive.. For a place that had no ice packs and no first aid on site when my older mother fell off of there new curb on her face a her hand was swelling so fast we had too leave.. I've been here many times in the past. And after that I will never go back.. Not too mention myself and others almost fell at the same spot.. Bad reno there.. With no warnings..

Tom Hu

Very nice place to casually walk around and look at the animals. Although can't see some of the animals, overall it's still pretty fun experience. Do note that the train is out of service

Ryan Branvold

Large park. Lots of room but not much for interactive attractions and no reptile exhibits. Was hoping for a little more for a $30 entry fee

Jamie Brunt

A fantastic zoo and great experience! Very well priced for the amount of animals and information. The enclosures are very large and natural. We spent hours there enjoying the walking and chatting with very friendly staff who love to share about their animals. Feel great that my small parking and entrance fees contribute to this zoo.

Adam Phillips

A glorified farm. Not many animals there although you can get really close to a tiger and lions.

Dana Chequis

Definitely not like it used to be. Pricey for what was there. Animals looked sad and depressed actually. They need to entertain them and give them more room

S Z

Newly renovated entrance and parking lot. Great place to bring the kids over!!

Chris K

How do they justify charging $30 person? Paid over $100 for my family and all we saw was goats and sheeps. You can get same experience walking around in Maple Ridge and it's free. Pay parking in Langley? Really? High NOT recommended.

Dal Sidhu

This zoo has definitely changed over the years. I remember going a number of years ago and it was quite sad (the animals were always inactive or inside and it was just a sad scene to see) but now in the last year I've found the animals to …

Ron McCann

The Vancouver Zoo is awesome. My wife and I took our grandson and he had a fantastic time. The staff are friendly and courteous and the grounds are well kept. Highly recommended for a family outing. My only complaint is that the age for children getting in free should be higher. They should not pay until they are school age...3 is a little young.

Don Hamelin

Great time. Walked and rode a bike around.

Anita Parkinson

Great day. Lovely facility.

Brittany D

Wonderful day! Kids, all 5, aged 4 to 17 and adults all enjoyed.

최동욱

Nice place to visit however is very pricey. Not a huge selection of animals. New dinosaur exhibit looks like a hit with the kids. They all appeared to love it.

Kat Gilliatt

The most boring zoo ever. Only a few species and very little in number. Despite this, some were closed.

l lohan

A great experience for the kids. Be prepared to shell out some cash. It was $100 for 2 adults and 1 child with the train ride. If you do take the train sit near the back to hear the announcer better, the engine is loud near the front end. We didn't take any bikes or scooters with us but I'd recommend it for the kids.

Kasia Ragan

It was so great going to the Greater Vancouver Zoo.❤️ Love all the animals there and getting fun interest facts and ideas about each animals. Great food along the walk. I will definitely be going back in the future.

Serena Kind

It's a very nice zoo, there is a good variety of animals. Gate entertainment fee is not bad. But the quad bike rental is overpriced. There are different shows, my favourite was seeing the lions getting fed. The train ride is a must, the narrator explains a lot about the animals.

Jess Fung

They have the most amazing animals at this Zoo, hippos grizzly bears black bears alligator all different species of the Deer family wolves flamingos... checked out their website... the walkways we're good for the stroller and I seen that they allowed children to bring their bicycles, 000 lions and tigers and bears oh my

Michael Vogel

Had a wonderful visit at the Greater Vancouver Zoo today - the animals were all out and hung out close to the fence so seeing them was easy. This is fun for the whole family, highly recommended.

Sony Obregon

Great place to bring the family to enjoy nature and wild life. the playground and train ride were fun for the kids!

Yvonne Stobbart

So much fun seeing all the critters! Went on a cooler day so most of them were out and about. Rented the quad bike and rode around for an hour and had a lot of fun! James Scott (TRU3CH405)

Great food, lots of things to do and see

Chad Alexander

Great family outing. Love the improvements and watching the animals.

Meagan Taylor

Lovely place....it's a TON of walking. It was very hot when we were there so not a ton of animals out but still worth the visit :)

nathalie how

Samuel Hutchinson

My kids loved seeing the tiger and the bears. Due to covid restrictions the flow of the park is disrupted and we didn't get to see the north American exhibits, and there are a lot of empty fields on the east side, but it was still fun. It's not cheap though.

Jay P

The reptile habitats were small and depressing. When animals aren't given sufficient room, it makes me despise the management/ownership of that zoo. The giraffe was all alone with no real stimulus to pass the time. Very sad. Peacocks roamed free though and we got quite a show from one cocky young male. Seemed to enjoy the attention. Separately, a zebra, cheetah and the giraffe all came up to the fences to say hello. That was very cool. I feel very up and down about zoos. May or may not go back.

Shane Harcus

All time favorite. We can easily spend 4,5 hours there. Lots to do and lots to see.

akhil george

Not a best zoo to visit, most of the habitats are empty, for this high ticket rate that is 30$ per adult this place is not worth, there is only a limited number of animals, and also the parking ,there is no short term parking available ,the only one option is 24 hours that is 8 $, not recommending.

Hasan Abuarja

Does not discriminate you don't need to show your papers please support them.

Daniel90

I visited the place in nov. the weather is not prefect, but I love taking a walk in the zoo.

Samar

Great facilities. Exotic animals.

Ivan Knight

I always love supporting the Zoo and we love the annual pass because we are always nearby. It's a great place to walk with the kids. I will say however that the cafeteria facilities need upgrading but I imagine that's due to funding. This is a great place for the kids to learn about or just experience animals from around the world which is a great way to get them interested and involved in conservation.

Shelley Brignall

Nice visit for the family. Red pandas was our favorite.

Jake ha

It is good experience for children. But I don't think it is dating course.

Qian Zhang

It's a good place for family with kids. and summer should be better than winter. there will be more funs

Jaswinder Vegal

Although it was a lovely afternoon out. $70 entry for 2 people with parking is a little excessive!! I would imagine it would be well over $100 for a small family. Roughly 40% of the exhibits were empty. They have also removed some animals from the zoo.
