REVIEWS OF Assiniboine Park Zoo IN Argentia

Scott Wachal

The zoo lights were amazing in March 2021!

Jessie Carroll

Excellent walking and enclosures, lovely views. Only thing that made my visit poor were the unmasked children standing on multiple fences.

Kia Slk

I don't like going to a zoo simply because I don't like to see animals in cages! Just visited this zoo for polar bears. It's a great place to see polar bears and get a taste of arctic wildlife.

Diana Morrison

Great zoo, set up for one way pedestrian traffic, lots of places to picnic.

Jeremy Anderson

The Assiniboine park zoo is easily a whole-day experience. The exhibits and habitats are accessible and visible, yet spacious and animal-friendly. Parking is free. Volunteers are in good supply, and are friendly and well-informed. Buildings and bathrooms are clean and in excellent repair. There is a lot for both children and adults to see, and there are snack and souvenir shops at several locations. Peacocks freely roam the grounds, as do red ground squirrels. We also saw a ferret dash across the path carrying a field mouse. Of everyone I saw at the zoo, I think only that field mouse was displeased with the day.

Ermio O

Perfect zoo I ever seen the place to take you friends and family's and with a lot unique animals I never seen them before.

Stephen Gilbert

First time I've been to a zoo where I got to see everything and the animals weren't hiding. Polar bears are stunning, fluterby pavilion was very relaxing.

James Gauthier

Zoolights event; I loved the feeling of being in a lit up park. The animations and all the decorations that was, the music tents, some dancing and food or beverages of varying choice. I didn't drink or eat the food, but it was a great experience. I arrived late close to 9pm and the music died down by 10, but the park remains open for awhile. There's warming fire pits managed by volunteers for those that get too chilled and need to warm up their hands. For $15 you could easily spend a couple of hours there and be entertained. I'd go again with more company

Ted Rennie

Spent a lovely morning at the zoo. This was my first visit to the “Journey to Churchill” exhibit. It was outstanding!

Kevin Senft

Lots to see! Was an enjoyable experience with the family and the dinosaur area was a great surprise!

Kaitlyn Einarson

Nice place for a change of pace.

April Borutski

Went with the family for the zoo lights. The show was amazing, definitely had enough showcases to keep the kids entertained during the walk. I would suggest more bathrooms especially for the amount of people and kids that attend.

Kelly-Lynne Reimer

Winter at the zoo is amazing! The animals are fiesty and playful. And the staff so educational

Shawn Hiebert

We had a great day. We went early so the animals were a little more active.

UGO Inyang

It's a great place to relax and experience/enjoy nature. Downside is I have been there twice and I am yet to see all the animals. I did love the watching the polar bears and seals though. Great ambience and a very breathtaking scene to take in.

swirliness

Peacocks can be seen roaming all over, they pass by you casually and can be seen in other animals' areas, geese too. Lots of areas are temporarily closed or blocked off, don't worry as you can still access most areas by walking around the zoo. My yearly pass means I'll be here very often.

Alexis Chacon

Had a good day at the zoo. Had lunch at the tundra restaurant. 2 people from my group had a poutine, neither of them liked it. They both said the gravy tasted like turkey gravy and was not good. I had a rice bowl, I would recommend it. All the vegetables were fresh and it tasted good.

John Matthews

One of the best zoos I've ever been to. A must see if you are in town.

K Christine

The staff and volunteers are always knowledgeable, friendly and kind. The zoo is well cared for and a lovely space for people of all ages.

Victor Jegede

Nice place.The kids love it!

Luke Thomas

Awesome! Loved the volunteers giving information. Had a great time. Very comparable to Calgary Zoo, i might like the layout here better.

Kamrul Chowdhury

In winter I love having food inside Tundra Grill and watching polar bears beside the window. Worth family time together in the zoo.

Reilly L. Coad

Have so many fond memories of going here when I was a kid! Haven't visited that much in the recent years but I've heard it's still a fun place to learn and make memories as a kid but also an adult

WHATCHA MCCALLUM

great zoo. Best in Canada by far. So many animals and attractions. Used to do school trips here every year as a kid. The panda bears were always my favourite. Can take a packed lunch and have a picnic. So much to see you can make an entire day of it.

Renee Deslaunais

Fantastic zoo. We have been to several all over Canada, and I would say this place tops the list. The Polar bears are amazing. The animals are healthy and not stressed. Very impressed! Also the volunteers are fantastic at the zoo. They are extremely informative and kind.

Makena Roberts

A very nice zoo! I’ve gone here almost every year with my family in Winnipeg for a long time, and I’ve always enjoyed it. :)

JewelPillow

I love it here! So many animals! While there I was even able to touch stingrays! Signage isn't the best, you have to depend on the maps but otherwise, amazing zoo Easy to find food and ice cream as well! Yum! I love that u can eat next to the bear enclosure in one part

Nicole Wiebe

Beautiful place. Wish they had more space. Beautiful Animals ❤

Ben Jiménez

Without question, Journey to Churchill is the highlight of the new revamp Assiniboine park zoo. While the polar bear are its marquee attraction, the harbour seals in my humble opinion are the show steppers. They are wonderfully entertaining and engaging. The other stand out is the new wolf paddock.

Julio Berzenji

The baby leopards are out and about and they are pretty cool. This is a great place to spent half a day with the kids. Its not cheap though, if you plan on coming here (at least 2 or 3 times) in a summer then I suggest you get the family membership. Its worth it.

Kerry Martinson

You have to love hanging withvthe Polar Bears. Plus two new cubs.Take the whole family its like going to Churchill. Just not as cold! Highly recommended and very Knowledgable volunteers.

Richard Costello

Great way to spend the day, but best to go early in the morning when it's cooler out. Otherwise the animals like to go hide and lay down.

Michelle Deschenes

Polar Bears were amazing, huge park lots to see!

MD RASHEDUZZAMAN RASHU

Lots of fun with polar bear, a short movie, white birds in summer and at winter light festival...

Len Pugh

Boo at the zoo is awesome this year. Great especially for kids.

Jaclyn McGill

We had an amazing time and can't wait to come and visit in the summer time!

Jeff Gauss

Best zoo I've ever been to! Unlike other zoos where you're often straining to find the animals way off in the distance, here you are up close and personal. Our whole family had a blast!

Barbara Guzman

Great place to visit with family, tons of animals and most of the time they are awake and super friendly staff :)

Erik Van Veggel

Beautiful zoo to spend the whole day with the family at. Many amenities and lots of animals to observe...

tahir ayoub

Here experience was really good, you get very close to animals, its small zoo but fun really. We enjoyed alot I have visited Toronto/Ontario zoo before it was huge lot of variety, but we get better experience here in Granby Zoo.

Onix Angel

Volunteers and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. Areas and facilities are also very cleaned. You can tell these animals are very well taken care of. The Churchill exhibit is fantastic.

Leo Qian

It's got good variety of animals and well layed out. Got the kids hopping like kangaroos (which is a main attraction). The dinosaur exhibit is a bit fake, but a hit for toddlers.

Mirelly Lisboa

Incredible experience. I will never forget it!

Jensen Hoskie

Great place for the family year round...the village lights during the winter was epic!!

Salman Almishari

It's okay, but not the greatest zoo. It's missing a lot of animals. Had fun though.

gedsee

Its nice but some of the area are close.

Josh Halliday

A wonderful place to take friends or family on a warm summer day!

Ethan Bickford

Amazing family outting. Price reflects the quality of the zoo and well worth it considering many hours can be spent roaming around. Brand new dinosaur exhibit shows a great alternative to Jurassic Park! Found it odd that the zoo closed at 5pm on a Saturday, though.

Asad Israeli

I was there for an after hours dinner/conference. We were only allowed to see the Polar Bear and Snow Leopard exhibits. Both were great. The staff were very informative and answered a lot of questions from the group. We were able to see 2 of the bears that were there. The under water tunnel was well worth the visit. We were able to watch the bears swim and sit on top of the tunnel which gave an unprecedented view of the bears and seals.

joellyism

My daughter loved the petting zoo. A great place for the little ones to explore and see animals. The weather was pretty cloudy most of the day but we made the best of it. The park is well kept and the staff are friendly. The cost has seen a raise since past years but due to limited capacity and being closed during the pandemic, we feel its understandable.

Heather Grosney

The zoo is well maintained, clean and I enjoyed the grounds. Less variety than say the Toronto Zoo, but I had a good day. The food is overpriced.

Mmz Khan

Awesome location. ... great place to spend quality time with your friends and family. ..

Jessy Ross

Attended the Zoo Lights Festival and it was fabulous. Very intricate light displays, great snacks and a very reasonable admission fee. Would recommend foranyone wanting some fun and fresh air this holiday season!

KatAnne Monroy

This zoo was quite lovely. There is a nice variety of animals in decent spacious looking cages. There is a few places that are nice to have a little picnic with the family. And the staff at the zoo were all very nice and informative. All in all it was a very nice outing

Nicholas Cotton

Polar bears! Cute groundhogs everywhere. Much fun for the whole family. Seemed pretty much completely accessible for people with mobility issues too.

Marina Havard (Marishinka)

Kids love it. Miss the sting Rey exhibit. Happy the zoo is open again. My kids are jealous of the fun park the goats play in. They wish the zoo would let kids try. Looking forward to the restaurant opening for meals.

Michael Belanger

Boo at the zoo was good for the kids. As always the zoo was well maintained and put on a decent event

Lin

The bears...yes there's more to the zoo than the bears...but hey.. the bears are so amazing to watch. The staff went out of their way to make sure I saw as many animals as possible in - 20 temperatures. Thank you..

Ray Lowe

Always a great experience, love seeing all the animals.

Jasper Alexander

Wonderful day at the zoo. Most of the animals were active on a brisk October day. Volunteers were quite helpful, and plenty of covid prevention practices were in place. 5/5, would attend again.

Mohammad Ziaei

One of the most beautiful places I've ever watched

Jared Gauthier

With all the renovations over the past few years, the Assiniboine Park Zoo has become a great spot to visit. Lots of animals and an all-around fantastic facility. Make sure to check out the Assiniboine Park, not too far from the zoo, while you're in the area. It's worth the visit.

joshua fudali

I've been here numerous times, but first time during the pandemic. I found it easier to do the park with all the arrows at least then you don't miss anything. I was slightly disappointed in the lack of animals there now. The seals water looks like it hasn't been taken care if in a very long time. Yes I understand movements and what not from the seals stirring up the stuff on the ground, but you could even look at the seals very nicely. The only time you saw them was when they came right up against the glass otherwise barely saw anything. Overall during covid its nice and definitely improved, also gives more reason for a picnic over sitting inside

Maureen Toussaint

Lots to look at and great way to do an outing with the family

Ray Wong

Nice environment to walk around and check out a lot of different animals. Great place for family with young children.

Arin Wuraola

Nice zoo. Great place to bring kids..

Ashleigh

Went on a blistering hot day which allowed for a great experience as the volunteers were very eager and upbeat when helping and or approaching people. The Journey to Churchill was great as it led to the polar bears playing and relaxing in the water and giving us great views! The Kangaroo exhibit was great and I loved being able to be so close to them without having a fence or cage in the way (they make sure all guests are a specific distance away from the kangaroos for safety)!!!

Andrew Dobbie

Awesome zoo for families. Learned so much about polar bears, seals, cougars, and many other northern species. Outstanding polar bear and seal observatory with glass ceilings.

Lucky Chahal

The zoo is a pretty cool place but wish there was more to do here and see. Will probably come eventually considering winters are cold so I’m sure there’s limitations. Some clear paths and shaded sitting areas would be great.

Jona Baumung

The morality of zoos is another topic. However, the individuals running the park were very attentive and seemed to love their job. The animals generally look well taken care of.

Wendy Strewchuk

Wow, the lights and weather, everyone with the same holiday spirit made for a beautiful evening. WELL DONE

Richard Wieler

Wonderful zoo. Polar bears and ring seals are the highlight. The baby snow leapards were very cute too.

Lisbeth Carolina Segura (Diva)

Amazing place to enjoy a great day or weekend with your family, with your kids or with your friends. The place is really big, so be prepare for a long walk. Many things still closed because of Covid, but anyway the place is amazing! The better is the water zoo, after enjoying the zoo! Many attractions to enjoy in the water zoo. I've visited three times and still been a trip that can't be missed on summer. - A lot of picnics areas. - A lot of thing from kids. - Is allowed bring your own food and drink. - Is allowed take your Water cam or phone in the water zoo! - Locker for you personal items in the water zoo cots $5 and $10 for deposit that they reimburse you when you give them back the key.

Bruce Isabel

A winter visit to Assiniboine Park Zoo is well worth the admission fee. My family and I loved the Churchill experience. Those animals don't mind the cold temperatures at all and the "crowd" was virtually nonexistent. If you plan on even just 3 visits in a year though then the zoo membership pays for itself. We went with the single visit price and I am regretting that decision as we will definitely be going again.

Ailsa Chlöe

Not that great of a Zoo. Not enough animals to people ratio. Also, overpriced. Plus side is the bears were ok...

Emily CPY

It's not exactly world class, but it's a very nice zoo that does lots of conservation and research. They don't do much in the way of exotic animal (besides the dinosaurs of course). The Journey to Churchill exhibit is pretty neat.

Ibiwangi Atabor

It was an awesome experience! I will do it again and again!! Well-laid-out pathways, volunteers willing to give help and knowledge at every turn, maps, the beauty of the outdoors and the sense that all the animals are being well taken care of.

Corinne R

We have become members and find it’s a great place to walk while enjoying our animals

Lorne M

Great interactive exhibits, journey to Churchill is worth visiting. Dinos in the park is cool but may scare little ones.

Jason Geldart

Got stung three times, the wife onse and wouldn't leave the grandchild alone. Every garbage can was full and attracting them. Not one trap to be seen. Only a few animals to see. Waist of $45 dollars.

Cameron Dyck

The zoo gets better everytime I visit! Kudos to the staff and management!!

manisha sharma

Love this place so much. My son love to go there. Because he is animal lover .

Gerard haggett

Love the zoo and this light show they had on was alot of needed fun

Akshay Patel

It's open till 4 pm on weekdays and it's way beautiful time to spare with family. Great time and animals to spare with especially the new Sting rays and Siberian tigers, you don't wanna miss underwater Polar bear experience. View I would never miss in my life ????

Natasha Martens

A lot of outdoor walking, but it was a nicely kept zoo and good for all ages!

Melissa Hollingshead

Closes early and they don't seem to have a schedule saying who is fed when. The walkways are decently marked so that you can socially distance, however there is no where to smoke so be prepared for that upon entry. It was very clean especially the bathrooms.

Kyra Schlichting

Great outing with the family. Days when it's around 10 celsius all the animals are out and active. Fun for everyone

Sai Vignesh

Very well maintained. The line at the ticket counter was long and we had to wait for almost 20 mins in the cold, however once we got it, we warmed up at the fire pits before we proceeded to view the animals. Good experience, my son enjoyed it

heyitsjaddle !

Beautiful place to visit, the animals seem mostly happy. I got an annual pass this year and I highly suggest it, makes the experience less exhausting and more enjoyable, and definitely worth the extra money. Some staff enforce covid rules and some don’t, one volunteer got upset that we “came from the wrong way” and made sure we went right when entering Toucan Ridge but then let the group behind us go left. The random barricades on certain paths make it confusing. Overall I love the Zoo and hope to go many times this summer

Lorena Gálvez

This is by far the best zoo I have been in Québec. The place is huge and beautiful! Everything is well thought from the design of the paths, the location of food facilities (several options/standar price), rest areas, etc. The variety of animals is perfect. You will find all kinds of exotic well taken-care species. Kids and adults can also enjoy the water park (in summer) and the amusement park. My advise is to get early and be prepared to walk a lot. This is the only zoo where I saw you can lend wheelchairs and trolleys to carry your belongings around or even your kids. Definitely a very nice outing with family and/or friends.

Mohamed Ramadan

Nice place for all family members!

Garry Reimer

The kids loved it here and that's really why we go????

Quasi Messedup

A nice afternoon for the family. The food at the tundra grill was very good.

Abuzar Khan

Aquarium: 09/10 Staff welcoming : 10/10 Staff knowledgeable:10/10 Trying to find dive area but not able to find Love the atmosphere Too crowded The Aquarium closing timing are very bad it must be more then 4pm at least on weekends All types of Sharks were missing in the Aquarium Good place for children

ISpy WithMyLilEye

Loved the Zoo Light's Festival!!! First time I attended and it was magical. Well done!

jaino c mAthew

Not that much interesting than expected. But its construction is good.

Sunil Shrivastava

Absolutely a fantastic place to visit with family, friends or even alone. They have animals from around the world and they have volunteers to guide you on your trip. The polar bears are the best thing to watch and the seals are amazing. Had a great day at this place. Don't miss the amphitheatre as the short movie is incredible.

Donny Waldner

Only reason it's not a 5 star is because it was a hot day and most of the animals were lazy and hiding in the shade.

Haleys comet

SO MUCH FUN!! omg expensive however the addition of the sting ray exhibit where you can touch and feed them is amazing, had a blast with the kids :)

Roxie Pompana

Grew up in Manitoba and came here lots growing up, when we had kids they came. Everything about this place is amazing and can’t wait to come again.

We love visiting the zoo. However, I will wait until pre-Covid sanity returns before going back. The manner in which movement of people has been manipulated and directed like cattle heading for a plunge dip, does nothing for spacing out or keeping people apart. In fact , it has the exact opposite effect. Remove the barriers and allow people to walk freely again. Typically on a hot day, there's very little animal movement, other than the polar bears.(Which is great, that's why we go to the zoo, to see the polar bears) The Tundra Grill has a limited bland "chicken wrap" menu and in spite of suggesting at the entry that fully vaccinated people are allowed to sit together, there's nowhere to sit inside. Furthermore, there's no crowd control in the bear viewing enclosure, and in spite of a large sign asking people to continue moving through the tunnel, NOBODY adhered to it. You need to have somebody inside assisting those who cannot read....

Mil

I haven't been to the Winnipeg zoo in years and all I have to say is... Wow. The improvements to the facility have exceeded my expectations. The polar bear and dinosaur exhibits are definitely a must see/experience if you haven't done so already. To add to the great exhibits and displays were helpful and friendly volunteers, the clean renovated bathrooms (and park overall, really), and bottle refill stations were scattered throughout to keep the visitors hydrated. We also had the privilege to speak to a zookeeper while she was feeding one of the critters and she was very friendly and informative while answer our questions. The only *mild* complaint (and I do mean mild) was the wait and disorganization at the food stands. There were some mix ups but they were corrected quickly. Highly recommended for a day of fun with loved ones.

Sarah Joy Ramos

The Journey to Churchill was fun! Polar bears and the seals are almost close to each other. The polar bear loves to empress the people especially the kids. :) Lots of animals in a little zoo. They have butterfly garden too. The entrance is a little pricey. We spent almost 3 hours but we haven’t seen the whole zoo. Great place for kids and kids at heart who loves animals.

Mary Davidson

Had a business function at the Northern Experience Space. What a great way to view the Polar Bears in their aquatic habitat. I was standing right under one and was struck by the sheer size of the beast! They roiled around their pool freely. The Inuit art work and picture stories too are educational . We had a catered dinner party here and the food and beverages were outstanding. The park in general has had many up grades over the years. It’s an all season destination. It’s with a visit.

Margaret Gehman

They have great exhibits and fascinating animals! All of the animals look healthy and happy, even with the zoo in the midst of renovations. We saw the living bugs exhibit and it was quite cool! The entry prices are getting a little unaffordable but hopefully that will change soon.

Avi I

It is a nice zoo. I prefer going during colder weathers and in the winter as this is when you get to see more animals. They have ample free parking on site. It is a large zoo, so bring comfortable footwear, water and snacks.

Philippe Alves

I am never impressed by zoos in general. But this one had a particular impact on me, especially the artic section with the polar bears, the seals and the wolves. Plus I enjoyed sitting among the birds and watch them fly around, singing (loud!). A great place to go.

J K

The zoo has changed a lot since the 90s when I was a kid. Many of the enclosures made up of bars have been demolished to make way for the updated enclosures, such as the one for the polar bears. Some of the old attractions are still there, like the tropical house, which is nice during the middle of winter. The zoo actually possesses a substantial collection of animals, even if Winnipeg isn't the largest or most visited city in Canada. I think a trip to the zoo is well worth it, especially if you are in Winnipeg for the first time.

Leiah Bauer

The Assiniboine Park Zoo is an easily accessible educational and fun outing for our family. Paths and buildings are easy to move around in, changing exhibits and educational talks by zookeeper's keep the experience fresh. The new sting ray exhibit was incredible, a huge hit with all of us although the lines are long and you cannot bring a stroller inside so I did witness many people stuck outside with small babies unable to take their children in. As long as you are prepared for that it is a fantastic experience!

Steve Fierce

Boo at the Zoo was fun this year. The mist in the air Oct/10 added to the atmosphere. Good entertainment for the evening.

Walter Favell

Festival of lights very beautiful! I wanna keep going back Went on a perfect night No windy at all only -17 Great night for lights & family fun! Thank you Assiniboine Zoo & park and the people who helped put on the festivities thank you very much!

Chris Marsh

We went on a pretty hot day and it was fun! good way to spend a day walking about. It wasn't exactly clear during our walk what washrooms would be open etc but otherwise fun was had!

Юра Голубев

Talk about an awesome winter wonderland! It is worth the admission however, I do think that charging the same for children and adults might make it tough for some families to attend. Maybe a 10 and under rate? The night we went was pleasantly warm for this time of year so it was spectacular to walk through the lights and activities. Young children were amazed. Lots of volunteers around which made it very easy to get directions or get someone to take photos. Great to have a close encounter with the heavy horses and see the snow leopards who were quite active when we were there. Kudos to APC for trying this new adventure!

Haresh Chaudhary

It is one of the best places in Winnipeg to spend some time. Polar bear and Hudson seal are the main attraction for the people. It is children's place and children can love and enjoy everything in and around and the presence of various animal and birds.

Bola Adekoya

Visit the Grandby zoo located in Quebec for a fun day with friends and family. Lots of animals and funfair. Try visit earlier in the day to see the cats active. Make sure to go with your food, though there are lots of restaurants, I wasn’t very impressed with the quality of food sold.. I rated this zoo 4stars mainly because of the food.. don’t blame me, I like good food????

Liz Bradshaw (pezliz)

What a beautiful zoo to visit! Very educational, lots of fun for everyone in the family.

Fearocious Fearocious

An enjoyable experience, relaxing, entertaining and educational.

Glenn Allen

A lovely walk with family. Going to be an even better area to visit once the new Diversity Gardens is finished in Assinniboine Park.

Conor Adrian

Staff were very helpful. Enclosures seemed clean and the animals well cared for.

JL Spinks

Great day .nice exhibits. well done! Was there 1 0 years ago the improvements are amazing! My one suggestion would be to have local makers sell their zoo themed work. It's a shame that so many items are made in China..

Amede Thompson

Took my son here for his birthday ????????

asma kamran

This place is worth visiting if you are in Quebec. Please don’t compare it with Ripley’s Aquarium in Toronto as both offer different experience other than exhibits. Here, you also have a splash pad, play park and open air picnic spots. I saw some rare species of jelly fish and other fish. The tickets are cheaper if you buy for a family (family tickets include 2 adults and kids of the same family until 17 years) The entry time to the park has to be reserved online while booking the tickets. Don’t forget to buy your tickets at least 4 days in advance otherwise you won’t be able to get the tickets for your desired date.

Jennifer Miller Gehman

We visited the Christmas Zoo Lights and had a fantastic time! Beautiful to see, lots of places to warm up, and several fun activities along the way. The indigenous storytelling elder was a highlight.

Noe Namer

Great zoo for families with little ones in these tricky times - lots of room to maneuver around other visitors, a good range of animals, and of course their excellent polar bear/ seal exhibit

Kipkoech Choge

Great place to visit. Lots of animals to see but the polar bears steal the show.

Matt Breton

Went for about 3 hours to see the zoo, great space to easily walk through. Many shops were closed presumably because of covid.

Narender rakhra

If you are in Winnipeg and you haven't been to this place, you are missing something. It's a very interactive place with knowledge about some very rare species of animals and birds, conservatories, and chance to see some really great moments. It has a really good soveneir shop and a restaurant with some really great people working for this place. You will love the experience.

Steve Freund

A lot of empty cages, which is too bad. On the good side, the cages that were full, gave us a great day out. I love the journey to Churchill!

Christine Boulton

Th Polar Bear exhibit is amazing and is the only reason I’m giving it 3 stars. Other then that, charging the same fee in off season as you do in peak is silly. All the extra stuff is closed for season, a lot of animals moved or not available. But don’t say that to the front office as the lady (I assume is a supervisor or manager as she was not in uniform) will scoff/laugh and say “that’s never gonna happen.” (Referring to off season pricing) I was actually surprised at that comeback. Maybe you have heard that a lot....so instead of being uppity in the future maybe just smile and nod and thank me for the suggestion if it irritates you that much. Given that I said it in a suggestive way and not demanding a refund, really didn’t justify that comeback. I also asked the same lady for a volunteers name that was so helpful so I could give her thumbs up here (she was the only interaction I had there that was pleasant). I said her name starts with a D and she has blonde hair. The lady laughed again at me and said they have over 300 volunteers and can’t keep track of them all. So I was there on a day where there couldn’t have been more then 20 people in the park with almost no paid employees anywhere and I only saw one volunteer. So forgive me, I don’t work there but I’m sure with my description she could have found out who I was talking about. No one else was around, it wasn’t busy and you have a customer that’s giving positive feedback. I would hate to see how you all deal with negative feedback! So overall if you want the full experience only go in the summer, which I was told to do.....cause you know I drive across Canada on a regular basis.???? If the same things are not available in the off season that are there during peak, how can you charge the same price? Even a small discount would be something. Just doesn’t make sense.

Whitecloud Booyakasha

Great experience but beware of wasps! Seriously. There is major wasps at every garbage and recycling bin. It's actually problematic. My daughter was stung and another customer in front of us, thier 2 year old was stung. So please beware. Juice and sweets attract them so staying in any spot for too long is a bad idea. But the polar bears make up for it ????

Benoit Hamel

Almost No animal to show and all the zoo is taken over by overgrown. All enclosures are full of overgrown. The only one nice enought is the arctic pavillon... and the polar bears... out of that not worth your money...

Honey Mann

One of the best zoo. Been to multiple cities in Canada and visiting respective zoo, we can say this one is worth the time!

M Rivera

Huge, clean and safe area. It is good place to bring for kids and families. Volunteers and staffs are knowledgeable. A place that you can learn.

Ludovic Trudel Fontaine

Amazing parc, well maintained. Nice to go whenever you want, all seasons are to visit! A definite, especially if you have kids!

alex b

best place to walk with children

Dhanwant Singh Mander

Awesome Animals to watch, but there very less ones. Tiger is Best of them, other are type of monkeys or bears, deers & camels, some fishes too, 21$/person fee for one visit

Angela Monkman

We had a good time out, volunteers were friendly and helpful, the store staff were nice as well :) I really like that there is tobacco offering for the bison. I'd love to see more things like this - that embrace and respect indigenous culture and practices. I'm a huge fan of Frogs, Owls, Sloths and Manatees- I would love to have more of these one day featured or an expanded exhibit. It's a good feeling to be able to go to a zoo and feel happy and enjoy the facility than to feel grim, sad and concerned for its inhabitants. I had a fun experience with a cavalier Peacock- so that was the highlight of this visit

Andrew Laramee

We had a wonderful experience bringing our son here. The layout is nicely planned out making it easy to see everything there is to offer. The jellyfish tanks stood out as the most exceptional sight and we ended up learning a lot about them as well. Some of the enclosures are way too small for the animals which was sad to see but if that doesn't bother you you'll enjoy coming here.

Sahil Ahuja

Went to the zoo had a great experience.

Manjeet Singh

Nice place for spending the time with family..Friendly staff..

Christian Riquelme

I usually don't go to zoos but this one being more of a rescue/refugee zoo, is a must visit, you contribute to a good cause. Impressive amount of exotic animals from Canada and the world. Occasional temporary displays are great too.

Naryan Wong

Zoo lights were fantastic! Lots to see and do, music, drinks, photo ops, a blacksmith, horses, 'Axe throwing'... 10/10!

Navnath Indore

Wow. Best place to experience Artic animal life. One of the must visit place in winnipeg and Canada. Well maintained with healthy animals and well managed in Covid pandemic by zoo staff. Bus route 18 is easy option to get there from osborne junction.

Lia C

Never seen a zoo with horses and deer ... weird. As a mom of 2 babies in stroller , we wanted to go into the butterfly garden but YOU ARENT ALLOWED STROLLERS.??? I saw a few places with the same rule.... really uncool. let me just carry both my one year olds —- VERY unfair. Must be easy for parents of kids who Can walk...

Travelot

Great place to spend a day with kids

Miss Shirin Roslan

Adventure. Amazement. A must-see family venue that will excite, educate and take learning - a hands-on and visual experience - to a new level. Stay safe!

David Walker

Pleasantly surprised by the wonderful Polar bear exhibit and re-creation of Churchill. They have done a wonderful job with the large windows to view them while enjoying a bite to eat. It is also really neat that you can walk under the swimming polar bears through a glass tunnel. Everywhere you walk you will encounter a peacock just out for a stroll. I was lucky enough to see multiple peacocks open their feathers for a beautiful display. You are also able to walk with the kangaroos inside their exhibit and see the little joeys peaking out of the pouch. It was much better than I expected and spent much longer than I thought I would.

PINOY TRUCKER

The kids really enjoyed.????????

Lewelyn Lee

What an amazing aquarium this is! The outdoor space is beautiful and the animals are even better! The seals and walruses were very active and we enjoyed watching them swim and play. The exhibits indoors were excellently curated, with staff who are knowledgeable. The kids enjoyed the interactive tanks with the starfish, anemones and sting rays. A great museum altogether - can be done in under 2.5 hours.

October 9, 2021 Took my mum to Boo at the Zoo. This was her first time experiencing this event out weighed my many times attending. Reminded the times I took my daughter Brittany. I had much joy watching her expressions the inner child came out in her ‘n glad I was able to spend this amazing evening with my mum. The zoo stepped up this year going outside the box of their normal Boo. Included rides for all ages, band, riddles along the path to try to finger out, adult drinks, snacks, hot chocolate, coffee, mini donuts, walk through the grave yard ????. It was an wonderful evening fun had by all. We arrived for 5 the line up was quick end up finally making to the exit after 9. Did our night stop no made our way to Boston Pizza for dinner to talk about our wonderful day shopping/zoo. I love spending time with this amazing lady who has given me the strength when I was weak. Love you mum ????

Kristof VonEckhart

So much to see and very covid complient atleast before the last lock down. A great attraction following many covid guidelines so I felt safe with my family. So much to see and a well organized lay out with friendly staff. Always a pleasure to go on a date at the zoo

Lisa B “Lisa B” A

Fun time at the annual Boo at The Zoo at Assiniboine Park ????. Enjoyed the live performances ????????????????????‍♂️????????‍????‍????

Silvy Mcginity

Fun, great walking and always improving and changing. A great place for the entire family

Frank Marchesini

One of my favorite places to visit every time I am in Winnipeg. The kids love it. The polar bear exhibit and Journey to Churchill are world class.

Albert Riezebos

Polar bear exhibit is well worth the price.

Hayden Reid

Who doesn't love animals? The Winnipeg zoo is great. The cost is alittle high but that's life. If you love polar bears you need to go here. I only rate it 4 stars because they don't have alligators anymore. I also went during the dinosaur exhibit, pretty awesome experience.

Stef

Very nice zoo. Got to see the polar bears up close.

Gwah Gwah

Went to the zoo lights at night. Great display plus it was good to see firepits scattered about.

Olufolabi Meshileya

Great place to visit in Quebec city. With a little patience you will have fun for sure. It was a little less entertaining with the absence of the BBQ and ice-cream areas, however, it has some fantastic views and animals. Seems they have shows too but every where was empty due to Covid. We had fun. PS there is a splash pad here so you can bring some water kits.

Lisa

Better to go on cooler days. Animals are hiding in the shade. Kids were happy with what we did see.

Carl Clark

Boo at the Zoo was a fun experience for the whole family!

Haleys comet

SO MUCH FUN!! omg expensive however the addition of the sting ray exhibit where you can touch and feed them is amazing, had a blast with the kids :)

Picture This

Don't go to the zoo...Just yet. There was barely any animal movement when we went today(July 26). The Tundra grill only has take out, but there appears to be no where to sit outside to eat? The Dino animatronics is cool, but would have been nice to see some animal life. Approx 70% of the animals were missing, or doin nothing. Maybe wait till fall, or when its not humid/warm weather. Also, not sure having one way traffic is a smart idea. Several times throughout the walk we kept getting jammed up and had to pass people repeatedly within the Covid space requirement. Our group would have taken a different direction to avoid the crowd build ups. Once we can drop these masks and the weather cools down, we will definitely go again.

Udo Gerritzen

Nice Zoo. Very friendly staff/volunteers. The stingray house was the hit only topped by the polar bears. Saw them swimming in that water tunnel... Just great

Mystic Alara

Very poor value for our money. Prior to Journey to Churchill, there were more animals to view and it was more enjoyable. I used to go almost every week! Now? Not worth it. Went today and I feel we paid to see empty enclosures, plants, and parents not controlling their kids. Yes I know the zoo isn't responsible for that last part, but it's still part of the experience. The dinosaur enclosure was so lame, especially when you see old cob webs in some of the dinos mouths. It's 2021, I figured there would be a bit better technology but, guess not. What was also sad is so many of the enclosures are too small for these animals and they all look depressed...especially the meerkats who were trying to get out so badly. Honestly, the Journey to Churchill area is badly done because too much space is wasted on winding paths that show absolutely nothing, and the area about Churchill should really be in a museum, not a zoo. I'm so disappointed at how little there is to this zoo now. Most likely won't be back again.

Daniel Roscoe

The only reason for the missing star is the entrance fee. As a kid, the zoo was a standard summer Sunday excursion for my family, and I used to take my kids there too. Since they started charging for admission it has become a special occasion outing and I think I've been maybe 3 times. My son and his wife love going, and have season passes, and visit it all through the year. We joined them on a nice couple of hours walk, about 2 miles, slowly rambling through the zoo, stopping in the bird house, monkey house etc and having lunch in the Tundra grill. The display areas are very nice, much bigger and more humane than 50 years ago. The animals are impressive, and there are lots of helpful, knowledgeable volunteers, even in the -15 weather we visited during. The Tundra Cafe is a burger style eating place, with lots of support for families. Aunt Sally's Farm is a thing remembered only by us oldies, but the play area here is still fun, and a lot less scary for the animals. An additional feature of the grill is the view. You are looking out at the polar bear area and we got quite the floor show, the bears came right up to the windows and looked in at us, and then proceeded to goof around right in front of us. I had the big burger meal, but there are smaller meals as well as vegetarian options. I just missed the park breakfast meal due to getting there just after 11:00 but it looks like a good deal. Food was very good, hot fresh and generous servings. A bit more than a McD's but the floor show seemed worth it. We explored the aquarium exhibit, watching the seals power round the tank, and were fortunate enough to be given another show by the polar bear who jumped in and swam around and over us. I would like to go back, but the admission fee is pretty high for a pensioner, I'll probably wait till early summer to see the changes and maybe a few more animals.

Legal Eagle (Legal Eagle)

Absolutely superb place!! This is one of the best places to visit if you are in Winnipeg (in addtion to the Forks and the Human Rights Museum). The park is well kept and has several area for kids activities, walks, music arena, Arctic exhibit (live Polar bears and Seals). There is a cricket ground also. On a summer day you can spend hours there. You may rent rent group bikes to get around. Overall an amazing place to visit with kids, families or friends!!

Cronos 1324

Great place to learn about animals and help support captive breeding programs. This season they have the stingray beach where you can touch them! If you go often enough and ask questions, you can get to know the animals' stories. Well worth a membership if you plan to do 3x/year.

Vanessa Meads

Such a great place to spend the day! I appreciate the water bottle fill stations that are available throughout, and the new polar bear enclosure is really something. Volunteers here are really friendly and knowledgeable as well.

Dodd Letourneau

It's a bit pricey now...but worth it! Many of the enclosures are now very roomy...the Wolf and polar bear enclosures are an example. There are plans for more and better enclosures. I'm looking forward to visiting again. Dont forget to check out the stingrays!

james allen

Wife and I took our 2 boys to the zoo on Canada day this year. We couldn't resist the price ($28 for the whole family). We had a blast. Loved it. I've been to a few zoos before but this is one of the better ones. The Manitoba exhibit was awesome. Loved going through the glass tunnel and watching polar bears swim above us. The seal exhibit was also great! The polar bears then continued to treat us by playing right by the viewing window. The mountain lion and tiger exhibit was also great. Both cats very playful. Will definitely be back. Next time hopefully the sting ray exhibit will be open. It's also nice that parking is free.

dhruvraj raulji

One of the most visitable place of Manitoba if not only of Winnipeg. They have so many different types of animals from cats like lynx and cougar to our own manitoba bison. Even kangaroos in the summer. The favorite attraction would be the polar bears though. They are just the best. The restaurant in the zoo is just great the food is one of the best quality. Though it's huge so will get a good exercise. They have some displays of plane and other things. One of he most peculiar things about their display is the artic life. Just visit this place please if you are not from manitoba haven't come across a better zoo yet.

Leah Sweetland

A bit pricey to get in, but it is a very enjoyable zoo experience. The walking trails are nice and shady. There is a free tram if you're tired, and plenty of options for snacks. The underwater tunnel to watch deals and polar bears swim is unforgettable.

Dimitris Protsios

We had a perfect day even though it was windy and showing today. But snow and wind were a good resemblance of a visit to Churchill ☺️ . Bears and seals were active enough to enjoy them playing around. Plenty of animals to watch and most of them were out and about. We will return for a follow up on a summer day.

Chloe Weinheimer

Beautifully renovated. Very spacious enclosures with lots of places for the animal to roam, play, and avoid people if they so wish. The animals look relaxed and well taken care of.

VIRAL RAVAL

Assiniboine zoo is really good place to explore new species and nature, there is proper guidance at each place and map is everywhere to give us directions. It has spread widely, however, if compared to Toronto zoo, it is not that much wide enough. But, Polar bear makes this Zoo worth to see. For one day picnic it's good to visit here with family.

Devon Fischer

My fiancé and I just made our first trip here today! We've been in Winnipeg for a year and a half and finally decided to check it out. We've heard nothing but good things about it. We spent almost 4 hours here and still didn't see everything! We definitely will be going back. We loved our experience and can't wait for our next!

Kiera T

Friendly staff and well taken care of zoo! Loved seeing all the animals!

Mark Yager

We went here in November so it was quite chilly and not many people. We still really enjoyed it. They have a good variety of animals and the access to each exhibit is easy (almost all are accessible for the disabled, too). We really liked the undersea exhibit with a large plexiglas tunnel that allows you to walk under the water. The harbour seals were fun to watch and would interact with you through the windows. The tiger display allows you to get close to these amazing creatures. Parking is free and abundant. Entry is easy and the maps are good. It takes about 2-3 hours to see everything.

K Christine

The staff and volunteers are always knowledgeable, friendly and kind. The zoo is well cared for and a lovely space for people of all ages.

Caleb Fenton

The cost is too great for what you get at a zoo. I've been to zoo's that cost a little over or under for more variety and a better experience. Several enclosures are under renovation or completely empty. I hope the costs go towards better enclosures with a larger variety of animals. I do appreciate the different animatronic events that they have, cool addition to a zoo, but still, I've come for live animals. Also the volunteers are awesome and very friendly. That I think, is very unique to Winnipeg zoo.

Maria Pachon

The place is extremely well maintained. They are really worried about the animals health and environment. The aquarium and parrot cage are also interesting. It's really good to go frequently to enjoy and support the great job that they are doing.

Darshak Patel

Had a great time exploring the zoo and looks at the animals although a few of couple of them had an attitude.

Pamela Vodrazka

The zoo is hit and miss. You can't control when the animals will be active and I understand that but then offer other activities especially when people are paying $20/person. Maybe a safari type excursion would be nice. I also appreciate that these animals are in the zoo for their own protection and any animals that CAN be rehabilitated and released back to the wild would be.

Jennifer Chow

Exceeded my expectations. The zoo has many animals. The best part were the polar bears.

Sharnell Friesen

I always love the zoo! What a fun adventure! Only wished we could have seen the Polar Bears swimming around!

Elisa

The Journey to Churchill was amazing - watching the polar bears play with their toys captivating. I appreciated the Conservatory's vision to make the polar bears habitant both fun and educational.

John Dharm

Its a great place to being kids, they will especially love the dinosaur exhibit because they have models that move. The animals were in great care.

Osborne Hancock

Hands down the best Zoo in Western ????????. Polar bear area is an excellent place to spend plenty of time. So many majestic animals to view. The ultimate place for families but awesome for a couple as well. Will be back.

Scott Kendrick

So glad we were able to see the Christmas lights so much fun

TheMegz296

The animals were active and very cute.

Ruben Barrios

It was an amazing experience, the polar bears are incredibles!!

Erin Amy

First time going for many years and I really enjoyed it! So much to see! Will go again!

Melanio Enero

Zoo lights were a phenomenal experience. $15 can be pricey but you end up staying for the whole experience. the money is worth it. $12 at Co-op acan save a bit if your with a large famile

Dave Colvinson

I absolutely love this Zoo! Polar Bear water tunnel is awe-inspiring! Plus lots of friendly volunteers, and a focus on provincial treasures not just international species. Great!

Amber S

Me and my 2 young daughter's (4&6yrs old) had a wonderful day, plenty for us to see and do... we wished there was more animals tho but still a Great Zoo ????

'Tunji Alao

Located minutes from downtown Winnipeg in beautiful Assiniboine Park, the Assiniboine Park Zoo is one of Manitoba's premier tourist attractions. Home to nearly 200 animal species, the Zoo is a great place for exploration and family fun. Open year-round, the Zoo is the home of Journey to Churchill, one of the best arctic species exhibits in the world. Here visitors can experience polar bears and seals swimming above them in the amazing Sea Ice Passage as well as encountering musk ox, snowy owls, caribou and more! The Zoo also provides visitors with the opportunity to experience animal species from all corners of the globe including Amur tigers, camels, snow leopards and more. With over 80 park-like acres to explore, the Zoo has been a favourite destination for families, tourists, school groups, and animal lovers for over a century.

Liam Theo Creative

We went to the Zoo when it was a bit colder and the summer hours had just begun so there wasn't a ton of activities available yet and some of the animals weren't around, but the activities and animals that were there made the experience great! I would definitely return next time I am in Winnipeg!

Jean-Michel Molin

We went on a rainy day so probably fewer people. Had a lot of fun. Staff everywhere anticipated our needs and offered assistance as needed. Enjoyed the whole experience and look forward to going back.

Ahmed Elsamahy

An okay zoo, doesn’t have a variety of animals like zoos in big cities. However the best part at least for me was the polar bears section! It’s great and you can see them swimming and having fun in the glass dome!

Piklu Sutradhar

Great place for everyone. My daughter enjoys the dinosaurs discover section.

F. Catojo

Took the family to Boo at the Zoo. Loved it. Great entertainment and lots to see and do. Really enjoyed the ferris wheel.

Tammy Rediger

Gift shop has a ton of stuff, every stuffed animal you can think of almost. The animals are well taken care of here. The best time to come is around 9 or 930 am during feeding time and when it is not too hot for the animals to be out. The pilar bear exhibit is my favourite part, they are so beautiful and the underwater tunnel provides some amazing perspective.

Queen #27

I really love our zoo. Small, animals taken really good care of and they are always doing TV shows on the animals and care they are doing behind the scenes.

Scott Spiegelberg

It's ok. It's mostly boring Canadian animals which limits it (a lot of deer, elk, ox type animals). If the polar bears aren't feeling active or up for a swim there isn't much memorable. There's also a single tiger and kangaroos for some reason (Poor Tiger must be bored out of his mind. I felt bad for it). Other than those it's all Canadian animals. It can't compete with the better zoos in the world but for Winnipeg it's an ok place to kill half a day. They do a good job with a limited budget. I think the best part was the robot dinosaurs which shouldn't be the case.

Wendy Hunter

Great exhibits, but could use more signage to show where you are.

Odia Pollard

So much to see and do. I had a great time with the family. My 3 yr oldhada blast especially the dinosaurs and the polar bear

Jay Ryszewski

The exhibits were awesome. They put a lot of care to let the animals have their space while still making the animals pretty much visible. It is huge. Also I went when they had animatronic Dinosaurs. Definitely worth the trip. The Churchill exhibit alone is worth the price of admission.

John Erwin

I haven't been in years so I really enjoyed today's visit! The "Journey to Churchill" exhibit is worth the price of admission itself. So glad the zoo decided to go this route instead of the "old zoo" model it used to be.

The Bear

The Churchill exhibit must be seen All pictures taken by me, on my various visits.

Kara

Amazing place, love their Churchill exhibits and everything else that comes a long with it ????

W .Barhoum

Nice place to walk in with kids, it has some special animals like a tiger and polar bears. Unfortunately, it closes on 5 pm even on the weekends.

Jennifer Falk

I took my 3.5 year old daughter here and it was so much fun! We barely got to see half the zoo in the 3 hours we we're there! They were also celebrating the red panda, and had lots of fun festivities and learning experiences. I had no idea they had a butterfly garden or an Australian outback walk-through. So awesome! When our legs got tired, they even had a free shuttle tour. There were so many animals to see and lots we're out and about! We even passed by a few peackocks walking around freely. I was definitely impressed with the Tundra restaurant as they had quite a few gluten free and tasty options! I think I will look into getting a membership here!! Oh and they have a giant insect exhibition worth checking out right now that's included in admission. SO MUCH TO SEE!!! ????

Billie Quinn

It's very over priced($20.50 per adult) for what they offer. They dont have a lion anymore???????????? but they do have an amazing albino Bison who is SO handsome(you can see him for free from the parking lot ????). I can literally sum up the zoo in 5 pics.

Rafi Maman

Wonderful zoo for families with kids !!! The polar bears is the best attraction in the zoo.

Michael Koch-Schulte

One of the world's best Zoo's featuring boreal and arctic animals.

Gina

Love it! The polar bears and stingrays exhibits are both awesome. The zoo is spread out nicely so it didn't feel crowded even with a full parking lot. Great assortment of animals for the size of the zoo and the price of admission. Will definitely return!

leyton23oth

Took my sister here and it was fun. Minus the heat. The animals were lovely, but we ran out of water so we had to buy some which was kind of expensive for a small bottle. But since we ran out we didn't have a choice. Ill definitely be taking her here again on a not so hot day. Highly recommend.

Whitecloud Booyakasha

Great experience but beware of wasps! Seriously. There is major wasps at every garbage and recycling bin. It's actually problematic. Ryan Bialek

A family favorite spot, we have a season pass and have been more than 5 times this summer. The zoo really has come a long way over that last 5 years. The new wolf exhibit is great, and Journey to Churchill is a treat each visit. Food is decent, park is always clean.

Tyler Crichton

Amazing place. You could easily spend 8 hours at this zoo if you see and read everything. Very friendly staff that take the time to talk to you about the animals. Well worth the price.

Marina Havard (Marishinka)

Kids love it. Miss the sting Rey exhibit. Happy the zoo is open again. My kids are jealous of the fun park the goats play in. They wish the zoo would let kids try. Looking forward to the restaurant opening for meals.

Tom Zychowski

Great park, the Zoo is virtually empty on weekdays. Plenty to see and do.

Mark G

A great little zoo for all ages. The polar bear exhibit is the highlight of the park, we were able to see them play fighting over the water tunnel. Butterfly exhbit was neat and informative. Plan on a minimum of 3.5hrs, though you can easily spend more. Bring a picnic lunch and spend some extra time in the park next door.

Richard

The size of this zoo is massive and they have a large selection of animals. However I do think some of the animal enclosures are very poorly decorated and extremely small. Monkeys were cool though! The admission price is not bad as well.

Charlotte Pirch

OUR FAMILY really enjoyed the Lights of the Zoo. The displays were amazing, staff was friendly and you could tell that there was a lot of work involved to make everyone's visit special.

Mandeep Sandhu

So cool place, mainly the glass tunnel for polar bears. Very well maintained and clean.

Nguyen My

The zoo is so beautiful with alot of funny animals. I came in the nice fresh weather and most of them sleepy but still super cute The Amazoo is small but still ok with a few games

Chris Murata

Having a membership takes the pressure off seeing everything in one visit. Great value if you plan on going more than a few times a year. Open almost every day of the year including holidays. Best time to see the polar bears is early in the morning when it is feeding time. Great place to take the family, visitors to the city, and large groups.

Evelyn Fey

Wonderful place to visit!!

Madeleine Hicks

Spacious park. Enjoyable in all seasons. Some enclosures are empty, but the animals they do have seem happy, healthy, and well stimulated. Enjoyable with friends, family, and for dates. It took me about 3.5 hours to visit all exhibits the last time I visited.

Karen And John

I was really disappointed with the efforts to social distance on all closed in venues. When I spoke to one person at the Tropical house I was told that there is a large group in front of us..If there was controls such as numbers in vs numbers out there would be a better success of Social Distancing. That venue was also the only one that sanitized hands on entry , others had it offered but no one there to ensure it was getting things done. The volunteers are the reason that I gave you that extra star because they were all very friendly and helpful. Sorry for the not so great review but there is room for improvement in this new normal

Christian Bazin

The Assiniboine Park Zoo is alright. It's bad, but it's far from world class. It's likely more exciting for children than adults. Our toddler really enjoys it. The renovations in the last few years are nice but having gone back this year for the first time since the renovations were done, I was not blown away. The Journey to Churchill is massive, and probably one of the most humane enclosures anywhere in the world. Despite it's many lookouts the only real attraction is the underwater tunnel, which is short lived due to the small size of this part of the installation. As for the rest of the Zoo, it is spread out, which again likely means better size enclosures but it's a little confusing to navigate the Zoo and the lookouts for many of the enclosures don't afford a very good view. This is particularly the case for children who are short or those in strollers. Although Zoos sometimes come in question for animal rights, they can be an important part of children's education to help them increase their value of animals, the environment and sustainability. Zoos can also benefit animals from the research done there too.

Colette Groen

We really enjoyed our visit to the zoo. Covid-19 regulations of social distancing, sanitation and direction arrows are clear and well organized. Loved the Churchill discovery and especially the seals. Following the arrows definitely helps with seeing all the exhibits from start to finish. Staff was very friendly and informative. Definitely go back in the fall when it is not so hot out.

Michael Loschiavo

This is a great place to bring visiting family or even just for a family visit anytime. Nice and clean and lots of different animals To see

Levi Fehr

The new polar Bear exhibit was amazing, well done folks.

Dan Brown

This was a good zoo. I only have a few to compare it with though; the Toronto Zoo and the Philadelphia zoo. In my opinion it was not as good as those, but you have to take into consideration the difference in population. There weren't and African animals, however it did have some cool Asian ones. My favourite part was definitely the Journey to Churchill exhibit. The walk through aquarium with the seals was really cool. My 3 year old son's favourite part was the animatronic dinosaurs. Admission proces were fair. I also would love to recognize whoever the girl was who was working in the gift shop whem you leave. My son had scrapes his knee and i needed to ask for a bandaid. She went way out of her way to calm him and gave him a small plastic stamp ring of a tiger. She honestly made our whole trip that much more memorable and i doubt we will ever forget her kind soul.

Oleg Gromovia

Night light event is awesome ????

Jared Miskimmin

The lights were pretty spectacular and it was nice to get out of the house.

Siddartha I

It's a great zoo. The exciting part is you get to see the polar bear close up. You should definitely check out the show "Rhythms of the North" it's amazing. The seals put on a great show. Also definitely do check out the gift store to take some souvenir back home. If you ever visit Winnipeg make sure you check it out.

Marie-Eve Garand

I had read great reviews, but I walked in there and was very disappointed by the size of the exhibits. That poor cougar looked miserable in the tiny enclosure... I had come to see the polar bears, expecting a huge exhibit with plenty of space, and found that it was quite small for 11 bears. Of course the sea passage is pretty neat, you get to see them swim over you, but overall I was not impressed. The one thing I truly enjoyed was speaking with the volunteer, whose concern for animal welfare equals mine, and we had a lengthy discussion about wild animals in captivity.

Jennifer Thorsteinsson

You can now go in the tropical house again!

Lindsay Wachal

It was a beautiful day so quite a few people around but we loved it anyway

Gary Alderson

The grandkids and I had a wonderful time with the dinosaurs. We managed to see the musk ox were out. Great exhibits, animals.

Ross Anthony

Pretty warm day, a lot of lazy animals trying to find shade. The polar bears came out and went for a swim in front of us, that was cool to see.

Jerry Standifer

Great zoo and can be done in a day. The Arctic exhibit is amazing. The cost is a bit steep though.

Sara

Seen the zoo lights was absolutely beautiful got yummy hotchocolate and mini doughnuts staff are really doing their best to keep social distancing and the gift shop was still open which was great

Angelique Prefontaine-Gibson

I have been going to the Assiniboine Zoo since as far back as I remember. Although I love the bigger spaces for some animals, it was a shame to not be able to see so many animals too. I used to be able to follow a path quite well, now you have to back track to get to where you want to go. I miss the 'active' monkey area!! Tucan area...where are the Tucans?? I see all these new areas but no animals. Not worth the $20 for me unfortunately.

Ralph Mousseau

Great little zoo. Well worth the admission fee.

Carla Fisher

Over priced for absolutely nothing. The kids were bored, had more fun on random rocks there and most of the cages were empty. Cages that did have animals were types you can see in most places in Manitoba. Tons of areas restricted to special passes or memberships (aka more money) also. Would not go again.

Rudra

There is something amazing about getting lost in the world of other species for a day. Everyone's experience is different in a way, but if you pay close attention, you can see the look in the eyes of those animals. It's like they know they are being watched and they act. Yet ... You should go. Don't wait till the end if the season because they hire students for the summer. Once they go back to school at the end of August, there is a shortage of personnel and long lineups for all services.

Pandora Davie

Very cool zoo would 100% reccomend the dinosaur section it was sooo cool!

Though small, this zoo has so much to look at, we easily burned through almost the entire day there! The animals seemed very healthy and happy. Very satisfying trip!

Corne Pretorius

Animals are well taken care of, facilities clean and maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed every single moment!

XW T Liu

Great way to spend the morning if you have kids. The star attraction are the polar bears. Unfortunately, due to COVID19 precautions, some things we closed or limited, but overall, our family had a good time.

CousinVinny

"Entry fee for two adults 43$". Try to go and book your time between 10-12 if you want the best chance to see the performances with the outdoor animal . If you take take your time it can last from about 1-3. Thé staff were incredible the way they treated and performed with the seals and walruses, it was really fun to see that everything was respected there by the staff. Great adventure for the whole family in my book. Check my photos for what to expect!

Patrick Labrie

It was a great day, weather help, not too hot so we saw lots of animals. At the end, the rides being mostly free was fun for the kids. Biggest "issue" is getting to the parking. Feel they should build 2 entrance so Amazoo and Zoo could help having twice the speed to come in. It opens at 10 but to get there with the traffic to get in require almost an extra hour.

Matt Klaverkamp

Beautiful day, lots of friendly service directing proper areas to line up. Masks required for line up and indoor areas, no masks required when outdoors.. the wolves and polar bear/seal tanks were my fave. Quite a few areas closed off during this visit. I would still highly recommend for covid friendly outdoor activity

Hiu Yan Chan

The kids love the light, there are fire with an assistant there to help warm you up but... It's not very safe for little kids. There are 2 tents, one at the very back of the zoo and one of the right side from the entire. Bad decisions on our part to go at -35... Very true Winter-peg... The lights was beautiful and I think the kids love it beside it was a bit too cold.

Akilles - Kosie Boras

The lights were very cool

silpa sethy

Nice place to go with family and friends. It can take upto 2 and half hours to go around the zoo. Many animals were sleeping when we went like polar bear and Lynx. I personally felt it was very dry for the animals with limited water supply.

Tyler Nowicki

Journey to Churchill is an excellent exhibit. I've visited many times and it is always a great experience. The new wolf exhibit is also excellent. I would recommend watching the trainers feed the wolves. They answer any questions you may have after the feeding.

Nick Jolliff

Not a very big or diverse zoo. It's got some interesting exhibits, but you can see the whole thing in a couple hours. I'm sure it's good for such a rural area, but not quite up to my expectations. It would be nice if they had a more variety of animals. Also, the peacocks got annoying as they are everywhere.

Shane Nixon

It's the best park in the city for beauty and its gardens .

Clay Purves

Took friends from out of town. The polar bears impressed them and the overall experience had them happy

John Pieri

Polar bear exhibit is very good. Excellent space for bears to roam, and great viewing spots.

Steve Zacharias

Love the zoo!

Mr. Kelowna

Really nice presentation. Very well kept and clean.

Conor Adrian

Staff were very helpful. Enclosures seemed clean and the animals well cared for.

Bradley Ostheimer

Worth every minute. Reserve online, show up at your time, show your vaccine passport and enjoy the visit. Great overall setup with one direction through the exhibits. Lots to see and learn for all ages. Our Daughter and us thoroughly enjoyed the visit and everything there is to learn.

Saud Alruwaili

Excellent place to visit for children.

Kenny Gionet

Boo at the zoo was amazing this year!! 1st time going!

Tamara

Had a lovely day, most animals were active/out. We met many great volunteers, one in particular by the name of Wayne that gave us some info on the animals and answered our questions, even gave the kids a handmade animal card :) Due to Covid it wasn't overcrowded and we were able to casually enjoyed our day. The restaurant was even open!

Krissy Lee

The volunteers are amazing and the kids thought the extreme bugs were pretty neat. The baby snow leopards were cute and funny. I do miss the lions and a few other animals. The kids also loved the butterfly garden. The only downsize is how expensive it is. I understand they are trying to raise money for the zoo but the prices are over the top. The gift shop items were $15 for a little stuffed animal keychain or $30 for a 6 inch stuffed animal and they really weren't anything special. They should offer less expensive toys for the kids, very few people can afford $30 for a small stuffed animal.

Hosny

Amazing zoo! You'll have a wonderful time there.

Bitter Skeptic

Stay away for now. Poorly marked pathways are confusing and heavily faded. Volunteers are no help. One set guided us into a closed exhibit that they said was open but was barricaded. Then sent us the wrong way claiming all oaths are 2 way. Social distance was predominantly ignored with large groups bunching together inside the marked areas around the tigers and polar bears. Crowding and misdirection combined with confusion made for a morning so memorable I hope to never go through it again. The complete lack of signage is a real help. Good luck finding the way out. Do yourself a favor. Completely avoid this zoo until this pandemic is over. With the non distanced crowds at the bathrooms I'm marking my calendar to monitor for symptoms. Masks on one person in 15.

Korean Anonymous

I havnt been here since I was a lil kid. Its a shame that many indoor spots were closed off due to Covid-19. However, it was a pretty good time. The new underwater walkway is a nice place to film. The tiger and polar bears are probably the coolest animals there. Monkeys are always playful and its nice to film them play. Wish they had a Gorilla tho ????????

Uravesh Gandhi

Very nice place.

Rumana Afroz Sultana

Not a very big collection of animals but still good!

Richard Vincent

The zoo was beautiful the animals were very active and my daughter love the experience

Nashly Epp

Awesome zoo! We had a great experience! The employees are more than ready to help, give information or explain the exhibits! Definitely worth the drive! Loved the tigers, snow leopards and butterfly exhibits!

Sophie Baillargeon

Sweet n short!

Stacy Saville

Went for Zoo Lights. I liked the set times for entrance. Everything was very orderly and running smoothly. While inside, the many volunteers kept the traffic going in one direction and kept everyone safe and happy.

Sahil Ahuja

Went to the zoo had a great experience.

Christina

Love the place...the kids love it even in winter... ???? up close and personal with the bears...seal and a whole lot more...

Sam B

Great selection of animals! Sometimes hard to see the animals with all the shadowy cages, especially with small children, but good overall. Be prepared to do lots of walking. Polar bear and seal underwater exhibit is super cool!!! My 1yr old daughter was super pumped about it!

Lance Kilkenny

Boo at the zoo was great. Im glad they brought it back

Wanda Martino

The only complaint that I have is that a stroller was rented and when we were to leave the zoo we were told we had to bring it back where we got it from. It really would make more sense to have a pick up spot at entrance as well as a drop off spot at the exit.

J. Marshal Courneyea

Decent zoo...better than a lot, but some issues made it hard to grade. Standard problems a lot of zoos face (appropriate space and companionship for the animals)...but a top notch conservation effort with the world class polar bear facility to boot. Unfortunately a lack of signage and maps to navigate the facility/grounds hurt the score a bit too.

OG extract

Awesome place to go please follow me on Twitch at OG extract

Serenity Duncan

Always love our yearly visit to the zoo, love the animals and the staff is always friendly

Julian Kim

Great place to bring the family and stay covid safe too.

Jordan Barnsley

Great zoo and great price! My 2yo had a blast seeing all the animals, and loved being able to walk up to the polar bears glass to look in at them swim. Super neat that you can feed the sting Ray's too! We will be back the next time we're in winnipeg for sure.

Val

This zoo brings back so much memories. They have updated a lot to the place over the years. Glad to see a peacock still roaming freely around. Some of the animals where missing in action. (Unless they could be sleeping) Glad to see the zoo still busy as ever. Would give a 5 star if the attraction where fully stocked or working and up and running.

Scott Wilson

Children love it . Things never seen before . When the 7 year old asked where the unicorns were , I told her that a beautiful princess got accidentally stabbed by the unicorn when she tried to pet it and that her heartbroken and angry prince destroyed them all so that no other princess could ever suffer the same .

T Duong

Fun place to bring your family. Or go by yourself :)

Jennifer N

Knowledgeable staff, interesting animals, fun exhibits. We spent all morning wandering around the zoo; my 3 year old loved it! It's a tad pricey as far as family-friendly activities. We spent $55 for 2 adults and a toddler. Luckily the baby was free.

Courtney C

This is a great place to go with the whole family, although it's a little pricey. If you go on a cool/cold day you will get your money's worth with the amount of animals to see. The volunteers and staff are also very helpful when having trouble getting around.

Alison Nye

I went with my family to see the Lights at the Zoo. It was a beautiful and creative combination of displays and colours that was well worth the $12 cover charge.

Paul Mackie

Always a great day at the zoo!! Yes... that's monkey sex. Mother Nature at its best.

Louisa Bek

Great place for families with kids. The African section is particularly well maintained with typical African animals. The attraction part is small but great for kids below 12. The water part is really nice for the entire family.

Sarika

Zoo lights were impressive. I’ve been to other zoo lights around Canada and this one is not to be missed. Oh and the stingray section was open as well. There are many places to warm up if you get too cold.

Chen Wang

Too many people during weekend. A long line inside the polar bear venue and definitely no social distance!!! Need to have a staff at entrace of each venue to limit the number of visitors inside and have a better traffic control.

Marc S

Great! (If you like zoos.)

Kerr Almario

The kids will surely enjoy this place. It has a lot of different animals and there's also life-sized dinosaurs! The butterfly place is also amazing!

Rebecca Wallace

Went to boo at the zoo and had a fantastic time.

TheRexxenex

Amazing experience! Clean and friendly zoo! Animals well taken care of!

Louis Boisvert

The kids loved Boo at the Zoo. I was surprised with the beer gardens and live band! Very cool.

Corey Mugford

The habitats are modern and the animals appear well looked after. The Arctic, Farm and Dinosaur exhibits are all excellent. This Zoo is highly recommended!

Uxaer Malick

Really fun Zoo! Visit makes an active and informative day for adults and kids. Polar bear exhibit is the highlight.

Vimal Sandhu

Assiniboine zoo is an amazing spot for family outing. You can go for picnic and see a lot of animals at the same time. There are many animals here, including arctic animals, amazing tundra birds, small aquariums, farm animals in summer etc. I have been here a lot of times both in summer as well as winter. In my opinion, during summers the place is very crowded but it does have plus points which are missing in winter. For example butterflies, bug exhibit etc. On the other hand if you go here in winter, there are less people and the volunteers are easily available if you have questions about animals. They have restaurant, shop for souvenirs as well. This place deserves 5 starts, there is always something new going on here. They also have some special days for kids, old people etc. They have separate Churchill area, they also have kids’ play area. You must visit the zoo if you are in Winnipeg. I have tonne of photos, but uploading a few here.

Andriy Luts

Loved the changing dynamic expo ( this time Bugs were replaced by Dinosaurs)

Shawn K

What an amazing place! I was here once, 12 years ago and I thought it was awesome then. The Journey to Churchill exhibit is absolutely stunning. I would love to thank all the Zoo staff for their hard work and dedication. Very educational tour!

Natalie

I love the zoo. This time is was for the zoo lights. So much fun. Allocate 1-2 hours and dress warm.

Been members for a couple of years for the whole family. Highly recommended. It's a great place to bring kids for a nice walk. Staff and volunteers are always courteous. Food is pretty good. Went to visit the new stingray exhibit, early preview for members and it was pretty cool. My kids always enjoy going.

Ruth Leon

Overall great experience. Love all 3 different park into one location You can visit the rides, then head to the zoo section then the water park. Great souvenir shop and food courts . Bathrooms everywhere with change table available as well as water refill station was awesome.

Bryan Abila

Beautiful place to enjoy and relax with kid, family and friends.

Mr Jackalope

To many wasps. I was told there was traps but could see none. Its amazing that me and my kids did not get bit. They also had very sloppy lines and directions, I still dont want to be near that many people due to variants and I was forced to be near to many people at once. They also had no one to enforce any rules or directions further complicating things. This kids had fun but I'm highly disappointed.

Huge exhibits. Lots to see. The two big ticket animals we didn't see though. No polar bears or tigers could be seen. Avoid hot part of the day I think if you want to catch those two. We went from 1-5pm. The dinosaur exhibit on new species was awesome. I hadn't heard of many of them before. The butterfly conservatory was top notch too. On par with Niagara butterfly conservatory.

Derpy Corgi

I went for Boo! At The Zoo and it was a fun experience, but as to be expected it was pretty crowded and lines for the rides took forever to get through.

Matt Andison

Great place to go with kids lots to see it takes more then a day to do everything cause they have a water park there. Food is good and priced fair.

Francisco Alvarado

To have an unforgettable Sunday with kids. The polar bears are a top show

Andrew Kaiser

An alright zoo overall, but the Polar Bear exhibit: A MUST SEE! Cannot begin to describe the smile on my face seeing the polar bears swim overhead... Brings a child-like sense of wonder to anyone in the underwater tunnel. The seals and bears playing around in the water made it an unforgettable visit.

Mai Yun La

We have a fantastic zoo with lots of interesting animals! A few were missing information but staff were friendly and helpful.

Ruslan Shakirzyanov

Zoo is large but not too much of animals are presented, no elephant, no lion, no zebra. Animals are clean and have enough space for walk though. Butterfly area and some other facilities were closed. Ice cream was yummy and not expensive.

Faith Sunkawasti

If your patient enough, you get a good view of some animals that are in there hiding. Bring a lunch of snack and your good to walk, talk or just sit. Cant wait to bring boyz back real soon.

Alena Brown

Great zoo!! The polar bears were amazing and the sting rays were really cool! We didn't get a chance to see everything as we had a flight, but what we did see we had a great time!

Brenda Poulsen

Really enjoyed our visit to the zoo! We went with our family including 6 young grandchildren. We went especially to see the bug exhibit which was fantastic! It was a huge hit with the kids! The seals put on a good show as always. The Arctic play area was alot of fun as well. It's really a great idea to add all the small activities along the way. The 5 yr old enjoyed uncovering the fossils in the sand. I believe we have a budding paleontologist in the family. Keep up the great work Assiniboine Park Zoo!!

Yoel Borbón Zazueta

There is a butterfly habitat, is amazing. Also, I loved see the polar bears in the tunnel under water!

Kevin yr Cho (Aventine)

Polar bear is super cute. Seatus the seal will follow your finger and spin for you. During winter, it is very very cold. Zoo ranger Lisa and Deborah are very friendly and detailed.

Steven Goldstine

A must-visit for travelers and locals. Journey to Churchill (polar bears +) is remarkable every time, special events including the Lights at the Zoo are fantastic, and continued improvements keep the experience fresh and exciting.

Kaleb Inglis

Boo at the zoo was a great time lots of entertainment. Worth the price of admission. Line ups were a little long at the end of the night.

Lilllers

Assiniboine Zoo has had a nice little update. Aunt Sally's farm is nice bright and colorful, the small play area for kids is also welcomed as the one by the polar bears is usually overcrowded. The bison viewing platforms are a nice touch and make for a great photo opportunity. They have changed up some of their animals as well. Price is still pretty steep for this zoo, it lacks what others in the country have. Overall it was good to come back to.

Johanna Frezza

A great family day at the zoo. Enjoyed seeing many wonderful Butterfliesat the butterfly gardens, animatronic dinosaur exhibition, polar bears swimming and so many animals.

Raymond

Lots of great animals enjoying the warm winter day.

Odell Havsdotter

Had a great time. Saw a lot of animals. Wish the scooters were cheaper to rent; its air of walking for someone with mobility issues. But I had a great time. The wolves were amazing

Navneet Kaur

Zoo lights were amazing.

C “Plant Girl” Nov

Love going to the zoo! A few of the enclosures are closed but the Dinosaur animatronics and Butterfly exhibits were great!

Kevin W

We love it, lots of options to see everything and the have new exhibits to see (this summer was dinosaurs). We enjoy it and got a membership.

Melanie Hartshorn

Great zoo! Links to fnmi. Staff was very helpful. Offer online visits too.

Karey McMahon-Stoltz

I have visited many zoos around the world, and I usually leave feeling like there are some animals there that don't make sense (ignoring the whole "wild animals in cages" thing for a minute). For instance, should there be polar bears in San Diego Zoo? Should there be lions at the Moscow Zoo? Probably not. Well, this zoo had mainly animals that come from cold places. They had furry wooly creatures around every corner, and not a single giraffe. It was, to me, a great example of stewardship in the form of a public zoo. Now, on to the real appeal, their Churchill exhibit about the arctic that culminates with the polar bears in a huge area, is really top notch.

Annabelle Parrish

The gathering was held in the underwater observation area for the polar bears and the bar was set up at the underwater seal observation area. The appetizer style menu was varied and delicious. the venue was tasteful and watching the bears eat and play was entertaining and exciting. The seals swam and frolicked nonstop behind the bar for the entire duration of the party. This was without question the best venue I have attended this type of function.

Kristina Canady

I was there for an after hours dinner/conference. We were only allowed to see the Polar Bear and Snow Leopard exhibits. Both were great. The staff were very informative and answered a lot of questions from the group. We were able to see 2 of the bears that were there. The under water tunnel was well worth the visit. We were able to watch the bears swim and sit on top of the tunnel which gave an unprecedented view of the bears and seals.

Leon Be

The Zoo has always been a decent place to visit. Animals are not usually that active but guess what no animal runs around 24hrs a day anyway. Journey to Churchill is a must, Aunt Sally's farm as well. Wandering peacock's yup you'll see those too!

Ariane Chioccarello

Great place for a family outing, but make sure to bring your own food, as I found the food there is too pricey and not that special.

J R

Watching our zoo grow and improve over the years has been a real delight. Exhibits are constantly being enhanced or expanded, and the selection of animals is both interesting and appropriate for our location. True all-season interest, reasonable entry fees, a quality membership package, and a beautiful place to go for a walk.

Joanne L.

It was a fun trip. The most interesting was to see the polar bear swimming and playing in the water.

JL Amor

We enjoyed the walk around however, on such a mild and gorgeous Sunday why not a bit more going the weekends even? Some fire pits around with a volunteer placed at these. We did see many lovely volunteers around. A horse and cart maybe going through. Some music, some vendors with hot cocoa and trail mix or mini donuts. It just seems so quiet and too much space in between some of the popular attractions. It would also be nice to still see ...if not the trolley, then just a small park bus going around. Would love love to see more.

Susanna Murray

Going in November it was cold but we had a great time. There were enough warm buildings to go through that my 15 month old and myself didn't freeze. The Polar bear exhibit was amazing, especially the water tunnel, worth the entrance price right there! Also had lunch at the Tundra grill where there were Polar bears around and playing. There was also a play area for kids but by then it was nap time so we didn't check it out. The staff and volunteers were very friendly as well. Would go back if we lived here!

Robin

Christmas at the zoo. A stroll through amazing light displays. Lots of fires to warm up at.

Murray Hanstead

Two hour line up for my "reserved" time slot for zoo lights. Never go again.

Susan Novakowski

Went for Boo at the Zoo!!!

David

Amazing displays of Dinosaurs The Zoo vast variety of animals Polar bears are a must see

Christian Clavelle

Awesome. Got a family year pass!

Athen B

Great place to spend a day with a lot of different animals to see and activities to do. The aquarium is surprisingly big! The water slides and lazy river were also fun.

Johan van Ingen

The polar bears are fantastic! And while I can't judge the financial situation of the park, a lot of compounds and habitats are in serious need of expansion and upgrades. Could also do with more interactive expos to engage the kids in a more modern way. So deffo go here if you're in the neighbourhood, you'll love the polar bears and help the improve the park with your financial support.

Rick M

Beautiful zoo, well maintained and reasonably priced for entry. Unfortunately the day we visited it was quite hot out so we weren't really able to see the polar bears which are the zoos main exhibit. It would be nice to have more viewing options for days like this.

Junko Bailey

Recently renovated zoo offers world class polar bear display. Dinosaur display area is also very well done.

Jessica Rear

Love the zoo hate the cost. My friends with larger families can never afford it. But me and my son love going and seeing all the animals. And he loved the new giant bugs the zoo has.

Ron Dyck

Good visit, nice zoo. Polar bears were shy when we were there but the seals put on quite a show!

Myles Dyck

Most of the park was closed unfortunately, but what was open was very tidy and animals looked happy!

Kevin Gordon

we were here for Brew at the zoo, the outdoor beer festival. It was a fantastic evening, with a lot of great beer vendors and liquor vendors sampling things. This is the third year we've gone, and we always enjoy ourselves.

Miral Vyas

It's a zoo so it goes without saying it's a nice place for those who have interest in wildlife.. there are different zones where one can see animals from different continents.. Africa, Asisa, South America, Australia.. Took around 2.5 to hours to explore.. There are cafes and restaurants in plenty..7D theatre and mono rail are good attractions, these 2 attractions are not included in the zoo tickets. Amusement park isn't very big, don't expect too much from the the amusement park, it can't be compared with Disneyland or USS.. Kids would love it

Belle Louise

A lot of people aren't fond of the price to enter, and to be honest I was one of those people, but I absolutely love what the money has gone towards. It looks awesome, and the animals seem to be well taken care of. The staff seems super caring and happy to be there. The volunteers are also super friendly and caring. My only issue is with how the stingrays are kept. The building itself is bare, but the stingrays definitely deserve a little more room and decor!

Camilla Reeves

A few years ago, the zoo spent over $5 million dollars on its new entrance and its world class Journey to Churchill Northern wildlife exhibit. One of the most popular attractions at the zoo is Journey to Churchill where you can experience walking through a glass tunnel and be able to see polar bears swimming above your head. The exhibit also has a seal exhibit where you can see the seals swimming under water. One of my favorite places to have a meal is the zoo's restaurant where you have the opportunity to see polar bears playing outside a very large window while you are having your meal. During the summer, you should consider seeing the butterfly exhibit where you can see butterflies flying around you while you walk down a sidewalk with gorgeous flowers on either side. There are many animals to see at the zoo which are native to Canada like wolves, bison, prairie dogs, owls, eagles etc. as well as animals from other parts of the world such as the Red Pandas and Snow Leopards. Please be sure to visit the tropical house which contains all kinds exotic animals and plants. A new Conservatory is under construction which will house a large number of exotic plants from around the world. The Conservatory is slated to open at the end of 2020. Wheelchairs can be rented at the zoo and there is also a free shuttle service. After you finish seeing the zoo, you should take a short drive in the Assiniboine Park grounds to the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden. The Sculpture Garden houses a large selection of bronze statues by famous artist, Leo Mol.

Raziat Fatima

Good experience! Kids loved watching the polar bear

bman333

The staff are great here, they make sure you know where your going and if you've seen everything, they find you rather you having to find them which is really nice!

Jeremy The Dad

Its so much awesome compared to when I was a kid...keep it up! And boo at the zoo!!! Love the new version!

Aaron Merke - In Character

Boo at the zoo and lights at the zoo were fantastic outdoor events for everyone.

Nicole Bambenek

Love the zoo, member of plenty years here! Love seeing all the improvements, would love to see the wolves in a bigger enclosure and the tiger! Pic for fun!

Josh Wagler

Nice place to take the family but a little too themed was interesting to see and learn about Churchill but would have been nice to see more other exotic animals as well half the zoo is devoted to one subject

Anton Bristol

Great dinosaur exhibition! Lots of food choices. Only a few animals. It was a hot day.

Pavehead

The zoo is fantastic, there is lots of fun to be had. There is a wide variety of different animals and sea creatures that you could certainly spend a whole day perusing. One thing I noticed however, is the lack of water bottle fill stations throughout the park. That is kind of frustrating when you have kids in tow and it's a hot day, and you didn't prepare with a lot of water.

oMykhajlo K

It was very family friendly. Rightly insisted upon covid safety measures (masks when indoors, etc.), but didn't impose a 'proof of vax' requirement. The APZoo has a wonderful balance of respectful habitats for animals and yet providing the public with the otherwise-impossible opportunity of observing animals up close.

Frank D

The Zoo Lights were totally worth it! Grand kids loved it!

Frank D

The Zoo Lights were totally worth it! Grand kids loved it!

Paul Lewis

Always fun to visit! The price always surprises me though, it's a good way to spend an afternoon with kids if they don't get too tired of walking.

Eduardo Enrique Soto Parra

The best place to relax, walk and exercise in contact with nature and art!

Chris daCosta

First time back at the zoo since the updates. Zoo is expensive compared to others of it's size but the attractions and animal habitats have been improved.

Lisa B “Lisa B” A

Fun time at the annual Boo at The Zoo at Assiniboine Park ????. Enjoyed the live performances ????????????????????‍♂️????????‍????‍????

Earl Rina

It is a good sunny day at assiniboine park zoo together with family and friends

Rudi Erlemann

I love vision zoos and aquaria with the family - almost as good as going i to the wild itself. So some experiences on my side… admittedly the aquarium in Quebec City is worth the fee, which is reasonable. Budget two hours for the visit.

Kim McDonald

So much fun with little kids. More than just fishes ???? … ????????????????????????????. Free parking is always awesome. Plenty of bathrooms and a playground and splash pad ???? for kids. Can occupy a good half day of your time if your not racing through. They have space to eat your picnic close by. ???? and snacks available ????.

Lily Snow

It was awsome. Even with everything that's been going on we still managed to have a great time. Thanks to everyone at Assiniboine Park Zoo.

Leila Copes

Great zoo! The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable, and there are a wide variety of happy and healthy animals to see. Wonderful place for families, and everyone who loves animals and nature. Perfect activity for good weather.

Linda Haskayne

The pathways are nicely laid out to lead you to see everything they have to offer. The grounds are kept clean and neat. The polar bear display is well laid out to give you several opportunities to view the bears from various places.

Erin P

Many highlights at this spacious facility but the Journey to Churchill exhibit is amazing. On a good day, you can watch polar bears wander through the large habitat and play in the water. I don't know if there are any other facilities that show so much respect for these amazing bears.

Navjot Kheeva

Beautiful place to go specially for kids ♥️staff is very helpful and they also do little activities for children which make children fresh in this summer season . Highly recommend ????visit this place once.

BrendaLee R

Had fun with my sister at the zoo! Polar bears were active, saw the wolves being fed. Best time here so far!!

izzy strong

Nice place for kids to see animals closely

Haha MTL

Just love this place. Best zoo near Montreal.

Frank Rinella

This is a proper theme park. Great family visit. Really surprised that a smaller city has a proper theme park style zoo. Lots of assistance for families to get around with tram , push strollers, and lots of food stops. The tundra grill is a great stop for lunch or snack to see the polar bears. Amazing. The polar enclosure is worth it. Great park. Top notch. Recommended

Colleen Desmarais

Loved the zoo as a kid and enjoy seeing its evolution now that I bring my little one there!

Temperance Snow

Walk after dark was cool. Tour is in French only. Guide was nice and bubbly, speaks quickly but there was a lot of information to get through. While the groups are smaller than anything you'd find during the day, I did still feel it was a bit crowded at some stops. My family and I are shy and tend to let others go first and we missed out on a couple of things because we didn't push to the front.

KitKatz

It was a fun experience. I went today with my parents, my sister and my nephews. The staff there were really friendly people. Due to the whole COVID-19 thing though, we weren't allowed to do certain things. The stingray exhibit was awesome. However the one thing that kinda disappointed me was some of the animals that I REALLY wanted to see weren't there. Like the wolves and arctic foxes.

Allyson Clayton

I love the zoo. I would definitely recommend getting a membership - the zoo is a great place for getting outside, getting a walk, and seeing animals. I love that they are working to make improvements for their enclosures - in the last few years they have improved immensely. They clearly care about the animals. I wish the signs were more informative - they really only have very basic information on them. The old signs weren't as pretty, but had more information. But with smartphones, it's not like I can't learn more - but occasionally there aren't signs for some animals, so that does make it tricky. We visit all the time!

Cat Woloshyn

I have had many very good experiences at Assiniboine Park Zoo. I love the polar bear exhibit and the glass tunnel. All of the enclosures seem to be fitting for the animals living in them, at least compared to other zoos I've visited. Overall, a very good place to spend a hot summer day as you can easily go for a picnic in the park once you're done exploring the zoo.

Kitin Cayona

Be sure to wear comfortable shoes that are meant for long walks because this place is huge. You can buy the tickets online and skip the lines. They also have kiosks for the tickets onsite that only accepts credit or debit card. But the line for cash payments is long. Bring your mask with you because you'll need to wear them in enclosed spaces in the park. Otherwise, outdoor is great and a mask is not required. There are a few food trucks and water refilling stations here and there. Kids surely enjoy this place.

silpa sethy

Nice place to go with family and friends. It can take upto 2 and half hours to go around the zoo. Many animals were sleeping when we went like polar bear and Lynx. I personally felt it was very dry for the animals with limited water supply.

Ted V

We decided to get a family pass this year and it was a great decision. I have loved the zoo since I was little and now our kids get to enjoy these moments that they will keep forever as well. If you go more than a couple times a year, get the pass and make yourself go more often. It's a wonderful place.

Terry Peristerakis

Love the changes that our Zoo has made since I was a child and started coming here. While it is not a huge zoo, they have a lot of variety, and they have animals specially selected to handle Manitoba winters too. The new enclosure for the wolves is really nice and right when you come into the park, on the way to the polar bears and seals. The arctic foxes are really fun, the tiger enclosure is great as are the red pandas in the tropical house. Definitely a fun family destination, and even better in the summer when more of the animals are out and walking around.

Evan Beaupre

Dinosaur exhibition is sweet but has become the main attraction witch is sad I think most of the animal areas need to be upgraded and whoever decoy to put the picknic eating area near the horse barns shod go have lunch there one day ????????????

Mohidul Arefin

I loved it! They have all the things that you need to see over there. I didn't get the chance to see the tiger. Probably he's shy. But I will meet that guy next time! Great decorations and arrangements. It's absolutely fantastic place. Good job! And the volunteers, omg they are so nice..

Tim Worthen

This park is unbelievable! Easy to get around and the main attraction are the polar bears with glass tunnel! As you can see it's really amazing! Lots of other animals to see that look really healthy and very well keep. We spent 4 hours there and a great time. I've been to many parks in many cities and rate this experience as one of the best!

I’m going to address a few issues here with some people leaving angry comments. 1. It is hot in the summer. If you are hot. The animals are hot. Many animals cannot sweat, so they relieve heat by panting. They are not hyperventilating. If you want to see the animals when they are more lively and active, I suggest attending during the spring or autumn months. 2. Every animal in the zoo has access to clean drinking water at all times. If they didn’t, the zoo would be shut down. Animal welfare agencies do exist and routinely inspect zoo facilities to ensure adequate welfare is provided to the animals at all times. 3. In case you weren’t aware, there has been a global pandemic during the past year that has, unfortunately, negatively affected the zoos ability to carry on certain indoor operations as normal. If you’ve gone out and expected absolute normality while visiting the zoo over the past year, you might want to re-evaluate your expectations given the current circumstances. I have been to this zoo many times since I was a child. I can say with utmost certainty that this establishment has gone above and beyond to improve the lives of its animals, year after year. They are still constantly making renovations and improvements, as well as adding new exhibits. Yes, the animals live in cages. But these exhibits are top notch compared to the horrendous conditions I have seen in photographs of other zoos. Many of these animals live extended, happier, and healthier lives without constant fear of predators at the zoo. I’ve had a great time every time I’ve visited the zoo. I can’t wait for my next visit this spring!!

Mark Moffit

Spent 5 and a half hours at the Zoo. Animals were active in the morning. Polar Bears, Seals and wolves were a highlight for our nephew. Had a wonderful time. The dinosaur exhibits were interesting and right up a seven year olds alley. My wife will steal a red panda one day. Facilities were in good shape, signage was fairly informative and volunteers and staff were great.

Karl Hamel

Large variety of animals that all looks healthy and happy. We had a lot of fun even if some areas were closed because of the pandemic. I believe all indoors space asked to have our mask on and we had to always be 2 meters apart from other individuals or groups. The number of people in the Zoo was also lowered for precautions and because of such it was less crowded than usual. We had a great experience and I can't recommend visiting even when it is not summer.

Jass Maan

Wonderful place to chill !!! U can sit by the side of river and enjoy the sounds of running water , chirping birds, the park is really beautiful and very nicely organized ????????????????

Natalya Karabelska

Great place for a walk. Polar bear exhibit is amazing

David Brown

Wow great to be back at the "new and improved" Assiniboine Zoo! Lots of new displays and modern new look and what an amazing Polar bear experience now! You can walk under the swim tank in a clear tunnel and really see the bears up close in their elements. Then the new restaurant has a panoramic view of the enclosure where again you can see the bears up close and personal I their large habitat. An amazing experience and definitely must-see when visiting Winnipeg!

Teresa K.

Had an enjoyable time. Nice spacious walkways.

Isaak Wall Wall

It's the right place to have fun with your family, build up relationships between parents and children. Many diferentes animals, tasty snacks and ice cream. "It's recommended for everyone who needs fresh air"

Jordan White

Awesome polar bear exhibit! I could have sat their all day. Everything else was great too.

RF Digital

Why does Winnipeg’s only zoo need yet another Google review? Well i haven’t been to the Zoo in nearly 20 years and I was blown away by the number of exhibits and vastness of the area. This is certainly an adventure you need to be ready for. After spending close to 4 hours wandering around I can definitely say I got my admissions worth. Whether going with a group of friends or alone with your camera it’s an absolute blast. Pack your snacks and bottles of water if you’ve got kids because it is truly an all day excursion.

Devin Anderson

So much better than it used to be. I loved the new displays, and got to see a lot of animals! The restaurant overlooks the polar bear enclosure, and was fun to watch the bears sleeping in their caves. Went with my extended family, and had a great time!

Stacey Frobisher

Always such a pleasure to come here. Staff are so nice and get you through the lines quickly. The volunteers around the park are always offering information, and are so helpful. Animals are generally lively around their feeding times so we always try and go in the mornings.

Dave Miller

My 7 year old had a good time. I feel like our zoo is a little weak compared to others I've seen. On a bad day, 90% of the time is walking and seeing the man-made stuff and 10% is squinting to see a sleeping animal at the back of the cage. But this time was pretty good. We saw a bunch of animals close up. There's always construction, so maybe we'll see more improvments over time. Some things are not available thanks to Covid. But overall there is lots to see and I'm thankful to have a zoo.

Good park zoo not big , you can enjoy nice time

Stephanie Jemielity

Great place to take kids/ go as a family in Winnipeg. With the new exhibit Journel to Churchill and other renovations they are slowly doing, it is turning around the park and updating it. Lots of bathrooms throughout park, shady pinic areas, tundra grill restaurant, and water bottle refill tanks.

Jayde Zozman

Practically everything was closed down during the time I went and was still charged full price to walk through the entire grounds in 45mins. That includes stopping to take photographs. I dont think I'll be wasting my money here again anytime soon.

Tracy Carignan

Granby Zoo is always enjoyable. I've been going for about 26 years. This was my first visit during the Spring, I've always gone during summer. I think I saw more animals up close in this visit than ever before. I highly recommend going in the cooler months, I'm sure this is why the animals were more active and visible. Looking forward to going back this summer to take advantage of the Amazoo which is loads of fun. Great place to visit with or without kids.

Sidney Shapira

I made my first trip to the Assiniboine Park Zoo since all the new construction and exhibits. Wow! It is really a world-class site. The Journey to Churchill is amazing. The Heavy Horse Center is a treat. The blending of the old and the new is wonderful.

Ryan Gugenheimer

Lots of construction currently happening. Polar bear exhibit is good. New tiger and wolf habitats are nice. Has a butterfly garden.

Jennifer Aquino

Such an absolutely beautiful, peaceful place. Beautiful English Garden & Sculpture is great. I loved walking around.

Dr. BB

Came here for the second time after 7 years. Most of things have stayed the same. Great Zoo to explore and walk around in one day time.

Kyo (Kyo)

Love the place. Easy to walk around. Animals seems to well taken care of and enclosures are large. Easy to view the exhibits with large windows and multiple viewing locations. Monorail ride was very beautiful with fall colors.

Dustin Gerbrandt

It was a great time with all the kids vary friendly and helpful staff! I was also vary happy with how helpful the staff was to my handi caped mother

Dean Kamminga

It was good to get out to the zoo again. It was a lot of walking but worth it. We saw a fox get fed by a keeper, the tiger was active, the seals put on a show, and more. We also saw some animals that I didn't know existed like the Sichuan Takin.

Kevin McCormick

My first time since they redid it and I was just in awe. They did an amazing job even have wolves now ( my favorite animal ) I really enjoyed it. Took our time and looked at all the open exhibit's. Well worth the trip!

Darren Seekings

Boo at the Zoo was great..Looking forward To Christmas lights

Chris Evans

Lots of animals, very scenic... Great place to spend alot of time with the kids

Chris Dilday

Great place, wasn't a fan of the small children being allowed to yell and bang on the enclosures and stress the animals, but that's from poor parenting not the zoo's fault.

Bruce Hoadley

Absolutely amazing! Went for the light show

SHE HER

Went to zoo lights, the event was rolled out wonderfully but it's people who are not maintaining distance in line and in the property that makes it uncomfortable. The experience overall was wonderful.

Shelley Wilson

They did a fabulous job with ZooLights.

Kevin Houle

Great place. Would be good if they had more hydration stations along the outdoor walkways.

Emperor Clutz

The Winnipeg Zoo is always a great place to spend the day at. Went to the new rotating exhibit which currently has the stingray exhibit, and it was a fantastic exhibit for the kids and adults. Would definitely visit again but would pay the extra to do the feeding experience. Staff and volunteers are always so helpful and lively to deal with.

Jessie Probeeb

Loved the polar bears. I traveled just to see them. My family spent 6 hours in the zoo. Lots to see and lots to do.

Alona Bazlova

We loved the zoo! We went on a Friday and there were barely any people. So many great animals and we loved the polar bears! Highly recommend, especially if you have kids :)

Snowflake 16

The zoo lights were unreal, the staff were on point, people were respectful, it was amazing! The zoo and the companies involved exceeded expectations!

eksbawks eksbawks

No polar bear in the water tank. But there was this nice white bucket that a polar bear may have crushed.

Eric Johns

Went for boo at the zoo. Even though we had a time to enter due to Covid restrictions the zoo was in incredibly full of people. I feel like they should figure out a better way to have a turn over in guests. Our time was 8:30, but I feel like the people with earlier times stayed a lot longer than we were able to. Which made the place that much more crowded.

Jamie Gibson

So many cool new exhibits!

Jon Dunne

love the zoo we have had memberships for years. We love how they continue to add new features. We never get tired of going there.

zachary lord

It has many various breeds of animals, such as Tigers, Giraffes and a wierd species of animals they have is the Gibons, the gift shop is nice but they have wandering peacocks everywhere. Plus they also have a underwater walk way with seals and polar bears.

Eric W

Excellent zoo for seeing Polar Bears. Most animals were our but some were not seen. Overall good value for you money. I tip my hat to the volunteers who really take their job seriously

Rachel H

While the Assiniboine Park Zoo has come a long way in improvements from the days of free entry, there is still plenty of room for growth to justify the $21.50 entrance fee. There are certainly fewer animals, but it works to the benefit of the zoo as several of the exhibits are much larger and more open, rivaling many of the more prestigious zoos in the country. The crown jewel remains the polar bear exhibit, where one can stand within a clear, plexiglass tunnel and watch the bears swim and play. There is still much work that needs to be done, but it is definitely worth the visit.

M Mandal

had a great experience when we went. it was a slightly cooler day, so all the animals were out and active. the staff were all friendly and eager to share knowledge about the all animals in their care. we would definitely visit again!

Chris Palahicky

Love the zoo. Nice variety of animals, and also educational.

Brad

Too small of enclosures for most of the animals. All of the bigger cats were pacing around because of being highly stressed. Way to small of an enclosure for the owls, no where to fly.

David Buchholz

Lots of animals, had a great time.

Christine Moquin

So good today! Animals were out playing, the sneek peak opening of the stingray exhibit was fun!

Debra Tokar

We covered every square inch of the zoo and found the staff and facilities clean and well tended. The staff were very helpful with directions. Totally enjoyable!!!

Kevin Colindres

I loved it, specially the new section with the dinosaurs. I loved that experience and specifically cause is one of the last sections so when you leave, the only thought on your head is of how great the visit to the zoo was

Yu-Ying

Don’t hesitate to buy a season pass, it’s pretty worthy! Take a walk sometimes or enjoy a day with your friends or family.

Michael Armas

Great zoo. Go here every couple of years and it's well worth the admission fee. If you haven't gone in a long time, the renovations from the old zoo are a drastic improvement! Seeing a polar swimming in a clear tunnel above you is amazing! The animatronic dinosaurs are a cool recent addtion.

Jeanne Alm

Beautiful park with many many exhibits.

Kody Webber

Spent the evening walking around the zoo looking at the lights. Our kids loved looking at everything and running around, highly recommend to any parents looking for an outing for thier family.

Larry John Laus

Visited during the summer months. Had a great time with the kids. A bit on the pricy side and quite a few of the attractions were either closed or animals were not just there so that was a disappointment. However seeing the polar bears, seals, butterflies and stingrays was a treat. There were shuttles going around the park. But needed the exercise and it is quite a good walk. Nice to see it again have not been here for a few years now. And probably will hold off a few years again just because of our experience.

Amanda Cooke-Simpson

Great zoo with lots to see and do for all ages. My husband swore by this one as better than the MTZ and I have to wholeheartedly agree. Added on a pass to the Aquapark and it was a very full day.

Marlana

The renovations they've done here have really made this a special place to be. I absolutely love the Journey to Churchill exhibit. The enclosure is so beautiful, you forget the animals are in "captivity" because they really do have so much space to roam. Plenty of clean facilities, lots of places to eat, and nestled right into Assiniboine Park. I'll never hesitate to go back here again and again.

Tara Devlin (Tara D)

Checked out Zoo lights at Assiniboine Park Zoo and it was great! The regular zoo is definitely worth a visit or two as well. We usually go 2-3 times per year as the kids love it and they can run around and burn off steam. If you have a family that is 4+ just buy the family membership and go a couple times.

Bree S

The zoo has come a long way over the years. Much better, more spacious and natural enclosures for many of the animals. Still some work to do!

Brian Hirsche

There are better zoo's in the world, but it was always an enjoyable experience. The exit setup could be improved. It is confusing and you get mixed up with people trying to enter. They why it was setup during Covid was much better. Completely set apart from the entrance and clearly marked. Would love to see a return to that setup. In all we enjoy going and will renew or membership in the coming months.

robert erstelle

Some fantastic upgrades, unfortunately, alot of closures in exhibits, during the covid-19 time. While entry costs are still at regular price, I wouldn't suggest or attend this once fantastic City must see location again. The Park itself was certainly well maintained, very beautiful area to spend time with family & friends, notice the construction project still not showing much progress. It's sad to see this once must see (Zoo area) in such disoray.

Matt Thiessen

Too many empty enclosures. Not as many monkeys as there use to be. But some are very nice! Polar bears were lots of fun.

Helen Stockburn

Great service. Very clean when I was in there. Food was quickly brought out. Not always the case though.

Megan Halwachs

Lots of enclosures are closed for maintenance or no animals. Felt like there was less to see. There were some attractions closed for Covid which made sense such as the helicopter, tundra grill and playground and discovery center and couldn't touch the stingrays. I went with my son and felt that the rope made it hard for him to see the sting rays. Other than that it was clean and sanitizing stations along with social distancing lines that not many people followed but were there.

Lane F

So much fun! A must see when in Winnipeg! Not to be missed.

Golnar NSK

I am one of those people who doesn't find going to zoo a fun activity, I can't tolerate watching animals in cage. But this one is worth a visit! It's really impressive, the way they have ensured every animal lives in an environment tailor-made for them.

Stephen Brisbois

Boo at the Zoo was good, some things better than the old ones, some could be improved upon. But the kids enjoyed it which is the important part.

Mohamed RIDHA

Fantastic place to be absolutely visited , we enjoyed our day there !

Jean-Sebastien Faubert-Philippe

I am rating it as 3 stars because they claim the zoo is open winter and summer. I went during winter and, unfortunately, I didn't fully experienced the visit. The "warm zones" are sometimes too spread out in the zoo and some are really closed to each other. Animal selection is awesome, we loved to see them. Some were sleeping, but hey, that shouldn't change your experience. Location is a bit far from city center, but easily accessible. Staff was friendly and they looked devoted to work their. Price was fair, 43$ with taxes for 2 adults, and the buildings look well maintained. Pathway in the zoo is good, but not well indicated on the map (mostly because it was winter). Overall, winter experience may not be for everyone, and not convenient for families with young children (hard to push strollers in snow). Pathways are plowed, but there's still ice/snow on them. Summer experience should be awesome though.

D

Boo at the zoo: They closed the crossrodes food hub at 10. Not enough time if you buy tickets for 8:30 or later. Lines are super long, too many people let in at once. All I wanted was a sammich at 10:05.

G Lingelbach

Boo at the Zoo is wonderful and so much fun! A must visit if you love Halloween.

n tofigh

Most of animals weren't there. Many cages were evacuated for different reasons such as covid or vet visit. That is understandable but They should have noticed at the entrance. We paid for watching empty cages.

Cherie McLaughlin

So. Non-Vaxxed are welcome to the Zoo. But not allowed to Boo at the Zoo. Are you government mandated to do this to punish the unvaxxed or just hypocrites all around?

Roy Benedik

Nice to see the animals out and about. Great spring day.

Knut Reinertz

Best entertainment for some 23 Cad in town. Polar bears were very active ( though not swimming) and few visitors, so 1st row views to their playfight

John

Journey to Churchill Exhibit was awesome!

Brooke Neufeld

It was a wonderful place to visit. The animals have a good enviroment to live in and really informative vollenteers at the park to ask questions. I had a great time.

David G

Vusited the for Zoo Lights 2021 and the new additions were very nice and the layout was great allowing for better space between people. There was a bit of a line to geti but moved very quickly.

Lauren M

The new additions and expansion are amazing! You can really get up close and personal with the bears and seals, the viewing tunnel where they swim is amazing. A lot different from when I was a kid. I miss Debbie, the old polar bear that lived at the zoo for many years. But what they have done with everything so far is really great. Volunteers and staff are all very warm and friendly. The play area in the restaurant is really great too, my little one enjoyed it very much and honestly I did as well, it was clean and I could actually fit in it and play with her. I'm giving 4 stars because there is still a ton of construction going on and some of the facilities are dated. But it is absolutely worth the trip to see the Journey to Churchill exhibit.

Ross Schellenberg

Staff and volunteers were very welcoming and helpful. My son loved the dinosaurs they had set up.

JODIE WORLEY

A great collection of animals and information. The polar bears where amazing as usual. They have a 1 way route set up for covid19 precautions and sanitation stations before entering any buildings. They have less vendors open, witch was great bc it saved us money, kids didn't want as many snacks lol

bnp01975

I haven't been at the zoo for awhile but the renovations they have done are excellent!

Bren Hancock

It was a rainy day and my daughter and I basically had the place to ourself.

Matt Murdock

We have a yearly membership and recently went for Boo at the Zoo. It was our first time going and we had a lot of fun. The kids loved it.

Vivi Sam

Lots of new exhibits if you haven't been in a while, nice day out with the family

Tihlor Frohlich

Incredible place to visit. Must see the polar bears and the butterfly enclosure

Evan Harrison

I was there for the lights I was very good

abel fouopi lemouchele

Whaoo, you must go and see this place, the kids where just hoooo my God. What an experience!!! Absolutely fantastic

Deb Pryslak

Great experience. Wonderful zoo. Very friendly and helpful volunteers make the visit so much more. Love the animals. Good tasting food at the Artic Tundra restaurant, where else can you have lunch and watch Polar bears

Geoff Miki

Beautiful space, good quality zoo. Polar bear exhibit is a must see! Currently, the "Lights at the zoo" is on until the end of the month. Wonderful display!

Stef Man

Great zoo. We're lucky to have them in Winnipeg. They try to adhere to Following social distancing and allowing only a few in a time to pay. If only there were more animals...

Tyson b

We went to boo at the zoo and it was great fun. My 5 year old loved the shows that were performed along the walkways. It was crowded so social distancing was impossible. A few more kid rides would of been nice but overall we had a great time. Thanks for the electric vehicle charging station that was a bonus.

Andre Stevenson

We went to the Zoo a week or so after Christmas and really enjoyed it. 80% is outside so if you're going in the winter, dress warm. Because it was cool out, all the animals were up and moving around. Lions, Tigers, Polar Bears Swimming above and around you. Wolves, Cougar, lots of different birds, and monkeys. I'm not sure how people become confused with the layout, but then again, some get lost driving down the street. Also, I think the price reflects a Zoo that requires upkeep and employees. No complaints. Great visit for kids, or the adult that loves animals.

Premjee Paul

I have visited the zoo many times. The polar bear habitat is amazing. They have some unique animals. If you are looking for tropical animals this is not the place to be.

Tod Allen

The Zoo Lights Festival is quite the spectacle. Look for the "hidden" features in the trees, walk through "Lover's Lane" and there are different events every night. Stop at one of the bars for coffee or hot chocolate...kids' or adults' versions! The visit is worth it. It's a great family event. Dress warm!

Cats Lovely

You shoul be there at least before 3 pm. The zoo closes at 4 pm. I went to see giant polar bears swimming but they weren't there. Only i was manage to see baby ones.

Matt B

An enjoyable place to take the kids to see the exhibits and animals. Some of the attractions are shut down due to confined spaces for COVID guidelines which is understandable. It's disappointing the lack of enforcement on the social distancing rules. Signs are in place but staff are not enforcing or explaining to the public. The individuals visiting the zoo should be more responsible as well. Upon exiting, I was swarmed with about 15 other people who were all looking to squeeze through the small exit - Unexceptionable! I spoke out about social distancing and they just looked annoyed at the comment.

bernadette mackenzie

This is a great zoo they have spent lots to change it out. The Churchill exhibit is great. They have a new extreme big exhibit too it was wonderful. A bit scary for the younger kids but well done .

Donnelle Loewen

Boo at the Zoo was great. Tons of people and a lot of little ones dressed up in costumes

Jenn Martens

Fantastic time, lots of animals active , great fun with the kids, ice cream at the stand! A wonderful day trip!

Anna Owczarek

We had a good time. Since there are not a lot of shaded areas it is very easy too sun burn - bring plenty of sunscreen and water.

Haihong Wang

A great place to visit with family, we visited there in Sept. 2006.

Michael Kowalson

Overpriced experience. Many enclosures have few animals, a lot of dead space everywhere without purpose. The stingray exhibit was a key part of what we can to see. But it was closed when we got to it with absolutely no prr warning. We did experience one fantastic animal carer but otherwise was a wholly.underwhelming visit.

Brian Trinh

Great city zoo with polar bears, seals, a tiger, live dinosaurs, and even kangaroos. The property is clean, and paths have clear signage so you know where you're going.

Charlotte Watkins

Great place to just sit and watch the beautiful butterflies. Would recommend this for people who love butterflies..This exhibit is enjoyed by all ages. I definitely recommend this.

Ray Stephenson

Zoo lights exceptional ! Staff very friendley.

Bob Lavigne

Very well laid out. Liked the glass enclosure. Coukd see sea lions and polar bears swimming above. It's a large zoo. With different habitat. Very exciting. It's a must see. Bring your children they will love every minute of that zoo.

ward mcpherson

Very nice! Nice play ares for kids near the polar bear xhibit

David P

I’ve been to the Assiniboine Park Zoo a ton of times. It’s fairly small which matches the modest size of Winnipeg. But, it’s still pretty fun to attend. I’d say it’s more for families and kids than adults. And, as with any zoo, the experience is pretty random depending on the feeding/awake schedule of the animals. There are structured events throughout the day, so I’d recommend to first look that up online before visiting so you can see the animals when they are more active. The zoo often has monthly activities, so if you are a local Winnipegger, it’s worth plugging into one of those if you’re planning a visit.

Erika De Miguel

A must see! The polar bear exhibit is amazing!!! A walk through with bears all around you, the animals are a joy to see and their enclosures are so big!

Joshua G

It’s a nice zoo. Journey to Churchill is a great addition to the zoo with cool Arctic animals!

L Nel

bears were active. top end zoo not too massive but still wore ourselves out. many venues

Kristy Shumsky

Great place for the family! The new stingray exhibit is fantastic and my toddler had a great time putting his hand in the water and trying to touch them.

Pherogh Mitchell

Confusing arrows. Didnt want to walk all around the zoo, just wanted the butterflies. Maps posted didnt show "you are here" no bathrooms but at the front. I didnt enjoy my time there for the amount of money. They did nothing when i said my child has heat strock. ????

Eastwesteast

Great to experience. Kids loved it, especially the animatronic dinosaurs exhibit. Washrooms were clean.

Jeff Ehlers

Had such a fun day at the Zoo. Everything was active. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.

jerry maliwanag

What a great zoo for such a small market. Worth the cost of admission. Prices in the zoo for food are even reasonable, not inflated like other attractions. Went in the winter, don't worry about the cold. You don't walk far to get to a warm building to shelter from the cold. There are numerous bathroom facilities all over the zoo, and they are all clean. Many volunteers around to provide information on anything in the zoo.

Sushie Singh

The zoo is a great place to visit. There are limited numbers allowed in the enclosed buildings and every one goes in one direction around the zoo. The exhibits are easily accessible, even if you are in a wheelchair or have a stroller. Love the safety measures in place and signs all over to remind you to stay safe. The dinosaur exhibit was the highlight of our visit but we enjoyed so much more.

Jas niz

Great place to spend one day picnic. My little one really enjoyed it.

Laurie Sodomlak

The air was crisp and the sky was blue so a perfect day for a visit to the Assiniboine Park Zoo. People traffic is directed in one direction around the zoo by all the great volunteers and signage. We were lucky to watch the polar bears and Azul Tiger at snack time.

Ashley Ann

So neat and fun. My kids had a blast. Not nearly as interactive as it would be without covid but still was such a fun time and visit. Would go back again someday.

Donna De Ocampo

Great place to visit with a toddler. Enjoyed seeing the animals

Pedro Sandino Lora

My family loves to come here every now and then. Lots of animals and you never get tired of seeing the polar bears and seals swim. Watching 2 polar bears wrestle up close was unforgettable. Now that Aunt Sally's farm is open there are more things to see and do. It's fun to just sit under one of the trees and enjoy a snack from the food concession. I just wish the kids could pet some of the animals but overall it's always a fun family experience to come and visit here.

Samantha Gumbley

Zoo was a bit on the smaller side then I was used to, but was able to see almost all the animals in three hours

R.C. winter

Great zoo after having been to Churchill many times, the polar bear exhibit is very close to the real topography.

Erika Doerr

Our kids enjoy the Zoo. The Winter lights are also fun. I love that they're adding new things. We finally bought a membership. This year we'll be there more often.

Rakesh Nair

Well managed during the pandemic

usman sadiq

Day was delightful during the Zoo visit, But Animal were very limited in numbers. Need to more introduce entertaining things with Various Animals and species.

Jean Berg

Definitely need to check out the Christmas lights at the zoo. Such a great experience for our kids!

Anas A

Amazing zoo, well maintained, very welcoming staff members!

Tom Searles

Nice weather volunteers were good Grandson liked the dinosaurs. Nice family outing.

Rylan Ewen

Went to boo at the Zoo with my friends and my Niece, it was a blast for everyone. Great entertainment, rides, and food!

Greg Carlos

Didn't see that much but my son had fun so it's all good hehe

Kevin Sanderson

Very great experience. Price of admission is fair and Zoo is beautiful. Lots of beautiful exhibits and habitats for the animals. My kids, my wife, and myself make it a habit to go at least once in the summer. Always worth spending a day at the zoo.

Angad Dhir

Wild life .. it was a good experience to visit zoo..

Kevin

Great place to bring the family! Our younger girls really enjoyed it. Such a variety of animals. Many buildings to enjoy displays and animals in. I am very impressed at the amount of volunteers helping run the zoo! Way to go Winnipeg!

Angelica Starr

I almost got the daily recommended 10k steps in. It was fun there, though not all of the exhibits were open and occupied. It's best to come during summer for sure. The staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed eating lunch beside the polar bears.

Andrew Feeney

More variety of animals than ever & very friendly & helpful staff. Expansive & diverse gift shop too, finally it's worth the price increase from a few years ago

Rita Nimchonok

Had my first outing trying to stay safe though. Things were very nice. Would of been perfect If people would pay attention to the circles and signs. Wouldn't it be great if we didn't have to have restrictions. So how about we all follow them now so we can live to go visit again. Don't touch the glass means don't touch the glass. Stay distance means exactly that. Time to get on board everyone. Holiday's are coming soon.Want to be with your families. Take care stay safe.

Byron Yadao

Nice, clean place. Beautiful, interesting animals. Appreciated the Dinosaur exhibits.

Stephen OConnor

Like all Zoos, quite the variety of animals, birds and fish to see. Better to get there early to beat the crowds but even then it's a busy place. Because of the pandemic, there is a set route that you are guided towards. For the most part social distancing is adhered to but it's best to be patient as not everyone will, especially the little ones running around. All round good experience, lots to see and experience, plenty of vendors open for snacks.

Tara Silver

I really liked that they had water bottle fill stations and washrooms throughout the zoo. Decent concessions serving Popsicles and lemonade as it was a warm day. Would like to go back, didn't get to see all the animals as it was fairly warm outside. ????

Richard Barrett

Friendly staff. Especially enjoyed the recently developed Journey to Churchill exhibit. Watching 2 young polar bears rough house like teenagers in the pool above was incredible to see.

Nathan Barton

This zoo was a decent zoo... wasn't the best, but also not the worse I went to. The Stingray exhibit was worth a star all by itself. A few cages were empty and there were no monkeys which was a disappointment

Sean Choiselat

We recently took our niece for her second birthday and we absolutely loved it! The Journey to Churchill exhibit was a favourite. The snacks are guaranteed to satisfy. We unfortunately were unable to see the entire place as she fell asleep halfway through. Would recommend

KH Yu

nice zoo. since I went there during winter, not much outside animals can see.

Kelsey Romano

Well kept, clean zoo. The volunteers do their best to answer your questions, and a lot has been done in recent years in improving various enclosures. I take my students here when we are studying animals. The presentations are engaging and our days are always well organized.

Some Dude

Nice zoo to visit. Lots of room on the paths to social distance. Most of them are marked out to follow a route. Recommend going on a cooler day when the animals aren't all hiding from the heat in summer. Staff are all friendly and helpful.

Kelly Braden

A great way to spend a day with the grandkids. The kids loved the dinosaurs even though they were scary.

Mike Heinrichs

So many improvement! Lots of fun for the kids and adults

Carmen Baker

Always a great spot! Food is over priced however!

Gina Gustafson

Great visit to the zoo. Animals were all active. We were there first thing as they opened. When we left there was a line up to get in. All covid rules and signs were easy to follow.

Stanislav Karpets

Big zoo, many different animals even kangaroos!

Cara T

With all the current and ongoing renovations the zoo is always changing. Keepers are pleasant and knowledgeable and animals are relaxed.

Adam D

Really nice zoo with a good selection of animals to see. The enclosures are very elaborate and where appropriate very spacious. The highlight is definitely the journey to Churchill exhibit featuring animals from northern Manitoba. They have about 11 polar bears as of this review. They are mostly rescued animals too so that’s a plus. Good education center and lots of friendly volunteers with lots of info to share.

Sarah H

Great please to spend time.with family and friends. Tickets are price but it's always a great experience. The animals all have very large enclosures and are well taken care of. The gift shops are awesome and have lots of neat things! The food is amazing as well!

Lindsay Sanderson

Great place to spend time with the family. Hours easily went by and we enjoyed a nice lunch at the restaurant. Kids had tons of fun and also brought back some nostalgia

Lori Stevenson

Great volunteers helping out and providing information. Had a great day.

Karin Ens

One of the best zoos I’ve ever been to (and I’ve been to a lot). The polar bear exhibit is amazing - where else can you see 9 polar bears?! I go up to Churchill for work a few times per year and I still love coming to the zoo to see the bears up close and swimming. The seals are also incredible and always a delight. A great mix of outdoor and indoor exhibits with mostly local /Manitoba animals (wolves, owls, cougar) so you can learn about the area, with several exciting “exotic” ones too (eg. Tigers!). The special events put on by the zoo are excellent as well, especially zoo lights now ending their second year. Plus, if you have a zoo membership, entrance fees are free and you get a discount on everything inside the zoo. The membership fee was super reasonable and I’m glad I have it! Photos are from my most recent visit, but I swear every time I go I have similarly amazing interactions.

Olive Sahurda

Every year, we visits Granby Zoo because my kids (now 5 & 7) loves it. Although they knew all the animals, they still amazed everytime they see them. My kids also loved the mini-play area that was located in different area. There were a lot of hand sanitizer scattered in all places & encouraged hand washing. Mask is mandatory in enclosed area. Staff were helpful& courteous. Always buys tickets online because of limited capacity. This year we arrived at 11AM, no lines up in everything. But after 3PM there's a line up in accessing in children's pool, restaurant and rides. The only complaint is it's getting pricey now.

Samichi Saluja

A 2 hour trip.. worth the time..

Devan Clark

Great family friendly place. Few to many empty exhibits. Always fun.

Martha Wall

Thoroughly enjoyed my day here. The experience was definitely made by the stingray exhibit which was very interactive, and also by being able to watch the seals and polar bears swim and play from in the tunnel.

KJC

The arctic exhibitb is fascinating. Could watch the polar bear swim for a very long time. The new tiger exhibit is very nice. You can get close to the tiger. The butterfly garden is a new added touch and they are building an impressive wolf enclosure. The zoo has come a very long way from the dump it was a decade ago. The shuttle trolley is a very nice touch during the summer months. It's worth a visit.

Katrinna Cameron

It's covid right now so things are very different but the staff was respectful of social distancing, most people were wearing masks but all in all it was a good time.

Kevin Guy

The polar bear exhibit is awesome. We were there in early spring and a lot of the Asian animals were not there because of our weather at the time of year. We are planning another trip there during the summer. Staff were very friendly and knowledgable.

Alison Fuhro

Where are all the animals??? Whenever we go there the animal cages are empty. It costs a fortune to get in and for what!!!!! It is extremely disappointing!! Spend your money somewhere else!

Ray Ashley

Haven't been here since I was a kid was great to get out

Meghan Lisoway

Had a great adventure at the zoo. The tundra cafe was very nice. Got to eat a meal while watching the polar bears play.

Wendy Murphy

First time visiting for Boo at the Zoo. Granddaughter says we have to come back every year... our new tradition.

Peter

A great place to spend the day! The bugs was a great exhibit...not as great as the dinosaurs. Would give 5 stars but it is fairly pricey for the amount of animals there are. Still, big open spaces and well laid out make it a fun place to go.

Amanda Palson

Lots of action at the zoo today. The Cougars were playing, the polar bears were wrestling and the snow leopard was being trained while we were there.

Jag Sandhu

Always a nice option for a date or family outing. Recently went for the Zoo Lights, and had a fun stroll. Dress warm!

Steph Tara

This place is awesome! We went on a cooler summer day right when they opened, so it wasn't too busy. All the animals were super active! The peacocks were really cool just randomly walking around the park. The tiger was pacing back and forth. The polar bear was enjoying a swim around the glass tunnel. The monkeys were swinging everywhere. All of the food and gifts shops were incredibly over priced but that is to be expected I suppose. All the animals looked healthy and well cared for so that is what matters to us. Well worth the trip our family made specifically to see this zoo!

Nate B

Went for the Zoo lights. Had a great time. Poutine at the Tundra Cafe was excellent, well priced and good sized portion.

Muammer Karan

It's a great place to spend time with the family. If you're planning on visiting all the continents and the waterpark I suggest you get there before the opening hours. The 4 stars is because we bought the whole package and we had to pay again to go on the train.

Jim Retzer

Simply spend the whole day there.Great memories.

João Vicente Bastos

Nice and fun environment. The park was beautiful, clean and organized. The zoo is amazing and features a bunch of animals you don’t usually see in other zoos (amazing selection of arctic animals). The polar bear center was very nice and informative. I love how focused on animal and environment conservation the zoo is!

MariaL Janke

Very pretty, lots of staff around. Lines moved quickly, lots of cocoa an food options.

Vlad Povole

It's ridiculous that this place requires prove of vaccination. Dark outside, you have to pull out you ID, play with freezing phone to find vax. card. On other hand you are visiting public service places, stores and you don't need to provide vax. status. Some admins just going crazy with their decisions.

H A

Needs the whole day to explore everything that this beautiful zoo offers. Polar bear is a must see.

Brady Russell

It is a really good zoo! The animals all seem well cared for and have sufficient space. The short term stingray exhibit seemed cool, but it closes a bit earlier than the rest of the park so get there early in your day. The restaurant made great food too, and the quality surprised me. A nice place to go see the animals, though it isn't cheap.

Parvez Fattah

It’s an okay zoo given the size of the city. There aren’t many animals but i have been to worse zoos. Would have loved to see more of Canadian winter animals but I guess they were taking a nap in the summer weather.

Tyler Thomaschewski

Probably one of Winnipeg's best tourist sites. I recently was gifted a membership and find myself using it all the time. The rates for a membership are paid off after only 4 or so visits, and it comes with many other perks. Would highly recommend many to buy a membership with limited activity's during covid times. Feel like going for a walk? May as well go look at some polar bears or monkeys while you do it!

John Vermette

A fun time. I liked the dinosaur exhibit. The only The gesture I have is they should have some cooling tunnels. It was awfully hot today we went

Jeffrey Hammond

Always love the Assiniboine Park zoo! Have not gone since the fees went up. The admission PRICES are outrageously expensive! So much for affordability for average families. They are gouging people. Saw some ignorant people feeding the peacocks & other animals. Not impressive.

Sherri Mills

Went to Zoo Lights.. (first year for this I am hearing) when I visited my son in Winnipeg this past December. Absolutely stunning display and I was able to see my first Polar Bear. ( saw 3 actually) Well Done!!

Nicole B

A great place to take kids. We have a family membership. It's accessible for both strollers and visitors with mobility aids. The Journey to Churchill portion in amazing and a must see for anyone visiting Winnipeg.

Linda Blair

Excellent day for a visit to the Zoo, thanks to Towers Realty Group. The new displays such as the dinosaurs, kangaroos, and horses as well as Aunt Sally's Farm were especially interesting. A very helpful welcoming staff made for an excellent experience.

Spencer Hruden

Whether it's lights during the winter, or the animals during the summer, there's always something to see.

Brandi Betts

The zoo was such a cool experience and they've done a great job with navigating around covid and keeping everyone safe.

Caitlin K

The zoo alone is amazing. It's definitely an experience if you have little ones.

Nigel Peters

This place has a lot of variety to offer from aquatic to even polar bears.2 lovely big polar bears. A lot of different fish, sea horses, dolphins and the huge walrus. It's well spaced out and there are different areas you can visit. They have icecream and light snacks on-site. Parking at this location is free and is tucked away in one corner of the city. We paid 75 dollars for a family of 4 which is reasonable I thought.

Q.E.D

Great place for an outing with family. The animals are generally out around supper time around 3 pm

Sherrie Moir

It was nice. I went to see the polar bears in the underwater tunnel but there were only harbour seals swimming. Fun to watch. Love the addition of the 5 wolves. Only saw 2 polar bears in outdoor enclosure. Dinosaurs were neat, almost felt like i was walking into Jurassic World. The Zoo has changed alot

Stephane Mercier

I had a very nice day visiting the zoo

Angela N

Saw lights at the zoo. It was amazing!

Leona Creighton

It was warm out so some of the animals weren't out but everyone was social distancing and taking turns...it was a good day

Dan Lewis

Unfortunately my photos and videos were accidentally deleted. A particular member of staff was so helpful and went that extra mile - I had spoken to her about the polar bears not being visible in the tunnel area and she explained and guided us to where we could view two youngsters in the respective cages. Whilst we were observing the one visible she came running to find us and told us that one male Polar Bear was doing his antics around the tunnel and we were able to view him playing with his accessories/toys and putting on a show for the public. Not many people would take the trouble or make the effort to facilitate their customers - well done to the zoo and it's staff.

Pattrick Beal

Love it even in Winter...lots to do and see. The walkways are well groomed and the Zoo has a great flow.

Jaimie Rockola

A bit confusing now on how to get around and did not see many animals. Enjoyed church hill and the dinosaurs

Jonathan Larsh

Having been to Toronto Zoo, it's hard to compare, but this was the perfect size for a single day walk with all the kids. We had an amazing family time at the zoo

Domanie Schadek

Zoolights was a terrific family night. The organizers could perhaps rethink the entrance times to avoid the long lineups and large crowd at the beginning, but the festival itself was awesome!

Moderated User

Its a zoo. It had animals. It was as expected. I'd give it five stars but the bathroom baby change tables didn't have any disposable sheets to cover them. Every one was empty in the entire zoo. Kinda not cool during a pandemic.

J

Loved it. Journey to church hill was amazing. The red pandas and the hibnions. All the animals are wonderful. We at at the tundra grill while watching the polar bears. The hydration refill spots for water bottles is awesome.Love the zoo. Saw some rude people adults and children banging and knocking on the glass. I wish they would put some signs up ( not that we should have to but some people don't know how to be respectful to not do this as the animals don't appreciate it, it scares some of them

Nigel Kerr

Good. Several exhibit were closed.

Tina Fehr

This was such an amazing experience on Canada day! We had a fantastic time for an even better price discounted! The double stroller rental was 4.50 and SO WORTH IT! That stroller just glided like as if there was no 6 year old and 3 year old in it, so helpful for the long walk. The kids enjoyed seeing the baby Gibbon. And especially enjoyed seeing the polar bear swim and do laps in the tunnel! Everything was clean and taken care of very well. Staff was so friendly and the line up for tickets did not take long at all. We will be back to get a chance to see the stingrays! Thank you for the awesome trip.

Bruce Swingle

Great place to spend quality time with the family. So happy that the city no longer operates it.

Janet Shelly

Great experience! Can't wait to go again in the summer.

Jordan Harding

Awesome place to visit in the summer and the winter lights walk is great as well.

Sameer Ahmed

Good place to take kids and spent a day there with lots of animals to look for.

Blind-Ambition

we got hosed.... they did not inform us that it was maintenance day for the polar bear exhibit... so we didn't get to see that at all. but we did get to pay full price. everywhere you go in the zoo you are reminded that this is a corporate venture... bring lots of money. another beautiful example of the government selling off our assets without asking us. i have been to a lot of zoos that i would happily pay a lot to get into. this is not one of them. i liked the old zoo better

ryan dhulay

Great animal my favorite is polar bear swimming above you and those mini donut yummy and don't forget to bring your stroller or baby carrier i had a 7 months and i'm carrying her the whole walkaround, giving 5 star bec. I lose 1 pnd after the tour lol!!

Sebastian Maricio

one of my favorite places in winnipeg

Kathy Lisson

Was there for Boo at the Zoo with my new granddaughter my son and my daughter-in-law loved the entire walk through the park

Tyler Horsman

Friendly staff, social distancing was being followed “ish” very few people wearing masks out side of indoor spaces. Animals were really active

Shawna Rossoukh

We were there for the Christmas light show. Very well organized. Despite the bitterly cold weather, we had a good time. There was aw warm up tent & different fire pit stations .

Brad Alder

The zoo was an amazing experience. So much fun, such great weather. And delicious mini doughnuts. Lol, Please check it out for yourself.

Se n ada

Always fun and adventures at the Zoo. We learn something new everytime we go. Highly recommend for kids all ages and of course the adults to get exercise and fresh air. We got to see foxes and wolves today ????.

Darlene Searles

We went to the Boo at the Zoo and my grand son loved it. Hope they continue to do these events at the zoo

Deb Scheniman

It was a fair experience. Many exhibits overgrown or no grass at all for the animals. Some of the enclosures do not reflect the true habitats of the animals. For example the polar bears. 7 animals in the enclosure that in nature only max 2 bears would inhabit. The water was filthy. The temperature outside was 29, there were no ice blocks to lower the water temperature for the bears. The park itself was clean and kept tidy. Some exhibits are currently closed due to covid.

Alex Beisick

Love this place, well maintained and animals look well and taken care of. Sucks the airplanes fly over occasionally.. besides that it's a nice place.

Courtney M

This review is based on summer visits and Boo At the Zoo. Regular zoo programming has been great everytime we've gone, our zoo is outdated and pretty low key compared to the other provinces. That being said, the exhibits aren't usually very packed and the grounds tend to be reasonably clean and tidy. The Rays were a neat new addition to the current exhibit. Boo at the Zoo was a great time. The set up was engaging and the exhibits were very cool for the little ones. We did miss the live performances and music, due to bottlenecking crowds and general poor etiquette of the crowds taking selfies everywhere. While the tacky crowd behaviour was not directly the Zoo's fault it definitely did directly detract from our enjoyment there. This should be addressed to some degree for future B@tZ, but that aside, this is a great outing for the little ones. I would say those between 7-12 would get the most out of this experience.

Jo-Ann Letters

So I was at the zoo on August 7th, it was a pretty hot day like abut 30 degrees, we were there in the afternoon around 2, was very disappointed that no animals were out. Why does the zoo close so early? If they stayed open in the evening perhaps people would get to see more animals!! There was one polar bear out by himself........it broke my heart and I was thinking this is really cruel to the bear. He sat in the corner of the cage, didn't see any water for him to drink or to swim. What's up with that??!! Is our zoo practicing cruelty to animals?? Made me heart sick. Pay so much money, don't see any animals except a polar bear in 30 degree temps with no water at all!! Won't be going back, don't like to see cruelty to animals of any kind.

Tyler Reitsma

First time visiting, and it was fantastic. Smaller crowd, so not much of a line up for any of the water attractions. Wave pools were great, and the lazy river was very fun. Kids loved seeing the animals, but when the animal was in one spot, it turned into a bit of the Hunger Games trying to jockey into position to see. Being able to pack a picnic and reserve a spot with your cooler and towels was perfect, but there were plenty of options to buy food, which we will do on the second day. Another treat was the amusement park for the kids. There are a few rides you need to pay for, but the majority are free. All in all, a really nice place to visit.

Michiko T

lights at the zoo was great. wish they had more warming huts.

Dylan Woodley

Great small zoo to bring small kids to walk around and get out of the house. Great polar bear exhibit.

Lucille Austria

Only good thing bout the zoo was the Polar and the Sting Ray exhibit

Cody Crocock

Stop in every time I visit Winnipeg and always have a pleasant experience. The volunteers walking around the park and at the entrances to the pavilions were all very friendly

leanne Rochelle

Great experience!!

Dylan Mckay

Was a good walk around. Not overly priced an had good food stalls within. The whole family enjoyed the day would go again

Ben Reside

Incredible zoo, with great staff and exhibits. I would love to see larger enclosures for the animals though.

Steve Appleton

Horrible day at this zoo. Over run with bees, my wife 2 kids and infant child all stung. Inside buildings and out. Maybe they should do something g about the bees before opening to the public again. Pretty sure we won't be back here again.

D. Gunson

For the most part my experience at the zoo was amazing the polar bears were putting on quite the show, the wolves were active, and the dinosaurs were very realistic. The zoo staff that were organizing the line-ups have some people skills they need to work on, other than that the staff in the zoo were very helpful and polite.

john adhangale

Great place for family time and the seasonal adaptation of the Zoo

Winnie Jones

Enjoyed our visit to the zoo at Assiniboine park. Last chance to see the dinosaurs alive.

Amy Trudel

Great zoo. Unfortunately lots of places are still closed or no animals in exhibits. Hopefully they can fully open this summer ????

Gregory Dube

We went there for the Zoo Lights installation. The sun had already set and it was nighttime. The lights were fantastic and ,with the crowd of people walking through, it was such a feel good atmosphere.

Leigha Corbett

Really great zoo. Loved the interaction with the keepers. Lots of walking but its to be expected in a large zoo. The tram was great from getting from one end of the zoo to the other. Extreme bugs was fun and educational. We loved all the butterflies too. If you're coming from the forks hitch a ride on the free trolly. A great day at the zoo!

Justin Rondeau

They've done such a great job with all of the renovations. Very modern exhibits in which makes you feel like you're walking through nature and not in a zoo. Glad to see great work is being put in!

Justin Schultz

Lots of ongoing investment, our kids really enjoyed visiting this zoo.

Justin Schultz

Lots of ongoing investment, our kids really enjoyed visiting this zoo.

M.D, Cayen

The staff was very friendly, taking the time to walk with us to ensure we did not lose our way. Cleanliness of the park was excellent. Staff near the animal exhibits were very helpful and informative. We recommend visiting the zoo when in the area.

Dustin Haertel

It was an excellent adventure. I just wish I gave myself more than 2 hours to visit.

Roger Harder

Amazing place to go as a family, especially with kids. The tickets look expensive, but are totally worth it. There are a lot of bathrooms, free water fountains to refill your mug and various places with picnic tables to enjoy you're snack\lunch. The 360 theater experience is awesome too!

Alvin Lai

So many animals and exhibits here that can easily fill up more than a day's worth of time. They even had a dinosaur exhibit with some moving mock-ups. You are able to pet the camels at certain times. Since there is a lot of ground to cover, they provide a shuttle service to bring you to various points in the zoo. They've let the peacocks walk around freely, which was a nice surprise.

Brent Anderson

We had a great time. Staff were friendly. We got lucky and almost all of the animals were awake and moving during our early morning visit.

Benjamin

Great Saturday night at zoo lights. Get there early as it's packed parking. The music tent and beer hall were separate which was a bit of a bummer. See the polar bears from the grill restaurant if you're lucky.

Pretear521

Favorite part was the polar bears. Got to see 2 of them playing around on the glass tunnel. Really glad I didnt have to pay for parking compared to other places I visited.

Jeanette Latimer

Love the zoo more and more every time my granddaughter and I go. Socially distanced, easy to follow directions, well placed washroom facilities, good pricing in the gift shop make an awesome outing!

Jane Asong

Unforgettable experience and a nice outing for the summer amidst the pandemic. Everyone keep their distance too..

Darlene Dawes

I finally bought a membership this year and I go a few times a week. Every time I go, I learn or see something new. We also went to the zoo lights which was so amazing. It was run so well and smoothly and the light displays were beautiful. Special thanks to all the volunteers working hard. ????

Emran A.Khalek

Awesome zoo, kids love it

Yvonne Lewis

The Zoo is bigger and better than ever! Great way to spend the day with children, looking forward to the Light display coming up at the end of the month.

John Moehring

First time visiting the zoo since the new entrance off Roblyn and first time in winter. Definitely impressed with the changes that have taken place over the last few years. Loved the. Journey to Churchill exhibit. The Churchill Grill was a pleasant surprise and is definitely an improvement over the old concession. Clean and great view!!

Zee Man

It is a beautiful zoo and has lots of animals to see . Mostly open air which could be great to do dying covid times . The polar bears are the highlight of the visit .

Peter Phillips

Had a great time with family. Huge polar bear exhibit!!! Good variety, had a nice size stroller to rent. Prices on drinks and food are decent. Look forward to coming again!!! They have a dinosaur exhibit too!!!

J Lecks

This zoo was amazing. Staff were friendly and knew their stuff, the Polar Bear exibit is beautiful. We loved watching them be fed. We were able to pet a camel. It is clean. Washrooms were well kept and in general the vibe was great.
